Kind of reminds me of how killers saw nothing but instaheals every game because BHVR game survivors a 1 month warning before nerfing them. Same with BNPs and toolboxes overall. As is it now with keys.

I don't think you get to complain about the one time killers get to have some fun.

I honestly would rather save them then get the new Iri add on so after 1 hatchet I can loop if I want just for the lols

8 games in a row now, I've been tunneled straight off the hook for all 3 hook states till death. Slugged for 2 min in between despite me not having DS and most games not even having an obsession.

I've been trying to be nice and "not toxic" according to killers. Just running Bond, Kindred, WGLF, and We'll Make It. No items or offerings because I feel like they'd be wasted. But I guess I still get singled out for who knows what.

Give me the most toxic build you can think off. I'm sick of being nice just to get treated like dogshit.

Just run the standard meta build I say. Plenty of coverage there without any possible blame. Also bring med kits and maybe the purple or iridescent add on.

Did you make this because of the new Demo one? I actually could see some use out of this, teleporting whenever without worrying about running out of portals to place.

I wish they would do them like Demos, weird and memey effect, but useable at some situations. Looking at you meme trapper add on.

Also, NGL that trapper add on can have insane benefits with STBFL. Otherwise it is trash.

As a killer, having options is great and provides different choices. The new Demo add on basically removes that option so you have to run to the other side of the map. But it's ok because... 200BP?

At least one of the most fun meme add ons that doesn't really affect your gameplay is the Party Bottles add on with Clown

Meme add ons with no downside I'm fine with

Meme add ons that make you weaker just for like some extra BP is useless

If we want BP, we're gonna run BBQ, and then when we get 4 stacks, we'll get WAY more than the add ons could ever give.

So here's the deal. I would like to get a better idea of how other forum members play so I'm asking YOU guys to drop some of YOUR gameplay videos below. It can be either Killer or Survivor. I'll watch whatever and I will try to watch every video and maybe even give some of my thoughts or opinions if you'd like.

The idea is simply to get an idea of how other forum members play simply for curiosity and educational purposes. That being said not just for me but for anyone else who's curious to see fellow forum memeber gameplay.

So go ahead. Hit me with your best (or worst) games.

Sorry for the 30fps and low quality. Youtube automatically screws with the quality if it isn't 1440p or I have over like a thousands subs.

I also have a few other games on my channel. 1 is 2 nurse meme games, the 2nd is my first time playing blight. I plan on uploading every blight game just to see my progress.

They already said there's a slight increase to the rarity of items in the Bloodweb. Whether or not that's perceived as worthwhile depends on the exact percentage (unknown, as far as I know) and your understanding of statistics.

That's what I would like tbh. Just to know the percentage. As a completionist I'm probs gonna do it either way :/

Bit of a jump from hitman to mario, ngl

An assassin is a killer by definition. While it's not horror, it's threatening.

Can anyone really say the Deathslinger or The Twins are horror characters? If anything Agent 47 could be more like the robot guys from Alien Isolation.

I thought killer with the name 'The Hitman'

Think it could be done right, with the right context. I believe as a person he was basically engineered? So they could pluck a version of him from a part of the lore that is more subservient, and hey, turn his eyes red and make it seem like he sees every survivor as someone who's wronged him, and boom, killer potential. But yeah, gun can go.

[EDIT: However his power is entirely up in the air tbh]

    Worst Killer Trickster OP- Nerf

Strongest map in the game by far, God Pallet City (i mean The Game)-.... its balanced cause survivors LOVE IT

BHVR has become a meme of itself... the killer is a prime example of what the community thinks when BHVR does ANYTHING these days. Summed up in 1 word. "Why?"

Why killer slow? Why killer knives no do nothing? Why killer power weaker then just using knives.... why?

And also why new survivor noises need to be so.... awkward and uncomfortable to ears?

All I can say, is that the new survivor sounds uncomfortable because... she's getting stabbed, hooked, bear trapped, electrical shocked etc.

Is anyone annoyed by that? xD

He makes some good points here and some bad ones.

I agree 100% with what he said about big data being useful as a sign that something might need to be addressed, but that it shouldn't be much more than that. I agree that specifically soliciting feedback from experienced players is a good idea; that feedback will not necessarily always be correct, but it's still useful to get some perspective.

I disagree about the pace of the changes in this game being ridiculously slow. A DLC with new characters, new abilities, and a new map (or reworks to multiple old ones), in addition to general balance changes and bug fixes, and other reworks and feature additions (e.g. colorblind mode, animation changes), is a pretty decent amount of content. That's pretty similar to what even huge franchises like Call of Duty did for years - they'd release a DLC roughly every quarter, each one consisting of a few new maps, but no new guns, perks, or balance changes. You needed to own the DLC to play the maps, unlike in DBD, and you also couldn't get the rest of the content for free just by playing the game, unlike DBD. I have no idea how DBD compares to other games in terms of the number of FTEs dedicated to it, so it's hard for me to say anything about how efficient they are or how much room for improvement there is. Most other multiplayer games honestly seem to release new content as slow or slower than BHVR, but with the benefit of a more stable game.

I agree that the devs should be held accountable if they commit to a date, don't hit it, and just never mention it again (hello 60 FPS on all platforms!), but I disagree that the max transparency approach is clearly the right one. Let's say, for example, that the devs say "We've heard your feedback and Trickster changes are in the works". Some people might simmer down and correctly understand that they're aware of the community feedback and the changes will be ready when they're ready. Most of the people who would think this way are not the ones rioting already, though; they were already calm and understanding that the devs are going to hear the community feedback and make some changes down the line. So, this communication probably wouldn't win over as many people as you'd think. Plus, people would start rioting all over again the moment the next patch releases if the changes weren't included. It wouldn't matter to them that the devs never committed a date for those changes. It wouldn't matter to them that delaying an important bug fix patch just so that the first patch after the DLC release has the balance changes they've been complaining about is actually worse than getting two patches so the critical bug fixes could get out early. They just hoped or assumed they'd be out quickly and held the devs accountable for not meeting their own unrealistic expectations. We saw this exact thing play out when people got mad that All Kill didn't get released last week despite the devs never having committed a date for it. They just put up the PTB and made some posts about the upcoming killer, thus clearly showing that the DLC is coming, and people assumed it would launch three weeks later because that's how things usually went for past DLCs. If they had said it would launch in three weeks and then it was delayed due to console patch approval issues, people would be rioting all the same. If they said four weeks so as to make sure they'd hit the deadline, people would complain they were slow and going even slower than usual. At that point you're still in the same exact sort of damage control mode but you're also spending (wasting?) a lot of time on community relations on top of it.

But this wouldn't be an issue if they were exceptionally clear and transparent! Let's imagine they say, "alright, screw it, we're tired of people jumping to conclusions so we're just going to make our internal bug/feature tracker public for max transparency in addition to the information we communicate normally". Then you have the people whining because you aren't prioritizing their pet issue highly enough, or because you moved back a target date (even if it's due to factors beyond your control), or because you're working on a change they don't like the sound of. At the end of the day, the community is going to whine no matter what they do, so I don't blame them for trying to use the underpromise/overdeliver model. It's more efficient time-wise while probably not negatively impacting the community as much as people would think.

TL;DR, managing unrealistic expectations is basically an unwinnable battle. At the end of the day, provided they're listening to feedback and making the game better, which I feel they generally have been, I'm happy.

Most games you love are not so great because the devs are insanely responsive. The game itself is just great. DBD started miles in red in terms of content, balance, graphics, etc. and it of course still has a ton of issues, but it's undeniably fun and has slowly but surely been improving over time. Making sensible improvements to the game will do more for player satisfaction than transparency ever will.

I appreciate this post, even if I have a hard time reading long strands of text lol

Scott's cool and fun, it's his stans that make things annoying (see: surge in posts about nerfing Iron Will because he personally doesn't like it).

That said, he's makes great points here and it's a shame none of it will be heard by BHVR.

Yeah, stans are stupid. Like, I love Otz, and agree with most he says. But I'm not afraid to disagree if something comes up. Same with anyone else.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I've been watching Scott since his DkS3 days and...I don't really understand the appeal of discussing his filler videos as though they're be-all end-all, well put together critiques. I don't mind people agreeing with some (or even most) of his points but I wouldn't ever use these videos as a solid base of discussion since they're so ad lib and largely speculative.

I feel like he could make them longer, but he doesn't because 1) It's content that's meant to be easy to consume, and 2) He thinks the examples are good enough. And honestly that's fair enough. I'm sure he'd be free to answer a question or 2 on Discord and such.

He has some good ideas, but some bad ones too. I think Otz has the best sense of balance of all the streamers I've watched (which admittedly isn't many)

I also disagree that BHVR has no incentive to improve their game. Because they've been doing that. They've just been doing it really slowly. I mean they recently gave Wraith a nice buff. Last year we got all new maps. Doctor is actually playable now. Clown is a little better. They could be a little more open with us. They don't even have to give specifics. Just be like "Yeah, we're looking at Trapper. We know that he's add-on dependent, and we'd like to fix that. We can't give you a timeframe right now, but know that we're working on it." I think that'd satisfy most reasonable people.

    That's fair!

I'm sure they have an incentive, it's just a very lax incentive due to no competition.

Communication would ease everyone a lot, but it could also open the community up to how little they are putting into the game, maybe. E.g. Silence leaves no room for criticism, just guess work, which is ultimately what the community has done since 2016.

So this thought came to me when the All-Kill chapter came out. We should be able to choose from the background themes that came out with the licensed characters. I know that many people come to DBD to play their favorite characters and the main theme just seems boring and generic and is getting really old. It also seems like such a waste to only use the beautiful themes that come out with each chapter a few weeks. This of course isn't a change that needs to be implemented but it's one that I think would please many people and would be easy to implement considering they already create new themes for each chapter.

yeah I shouldn't think that would be too hard to implement. I would also say they could do the same with the lobby backgrounds, but that might be more tricky, or would just add a loading screen. They're still in the game data afterall!

Unfortunately, this doesn't work. The major issue is that his opinions get held in very, very high esteem and are regurgitated almost always whenever Spirit comes up. His influence is very strong because of people championing around him because he says what they want to hear despite the lower view count his videos get.

I mean, it's the same side for other streamers? All other viewers hold their favs in high regard, like I do at times with Otz.

Is anyone else showing a serious negative reaction to the trickster?

I mean physical unwellness, panic states etc?

This is the first killer where this happened, and I don't like it. Maybe it is because he ticks of so many red flags

The only thing I think that came close was Plague, with people having legitimate physical reactions to her power. However I think this is a big enough concern to take directly to customer support. If this is as serious as you're making it, then I feel like they should make your account exempt from DC penalty on survivor. Also try replacing the Tricksters selection image in killer select, to avoid the visual reminder.

  • What a detailed and valuable addition to this thread

  • As someone who has been bullied my whole life, and who has escaped into video games to avoid such bullying and calm mental health etc, knowing that even when I try to escape my life through video games, knowing that people make it their goal to ruin others fun for their own really just sickens me.

This is why I never t-bag and try to avoid tunneling, because why am I to assume the person on the other side has thick skin? What if something has been going on with their life and they want to forget about the pain? what if that person is questioning why bother living? People will go "But that's not everyone" - look up statistics on mental health and suicide. It's only gone up higher in recent years. I've been there too. And while it is "just a game", every thing adds up. Life isn't a series of unrelated events, it's a mountain of things that pile up and up.

But to move away from that topic, I just don't like ruining someone's fun. The only streamer I've heard directly talk about it is (took out streamer name) who said he really didn't give a ######### about who he hurt, it's his fun that matters. Maybe I'm overexaggerating that quote? Maybe, but that's the only thing I ever remember him saying.

Although it is important to recognize when a survivor is teabagging because they know they can get away with it, VS when they teabag because they're about to lose/die so they need to recover their ego with the "well...I'm still better than you" mental gymnastic. 80% of the time they usually say "was it really gg though? :)" in the end chat.

Also, it's important to mention that I frequently shake and lose feeling in my hands when I play killer, so that could be a side effect from the worst kinds of players.

The only experience I have with them is Angrypug, and even then it's fairly negative (Rough quote was "I don't give a ######### about other people while playing, I'm here for my fun")

This might just push people onto watching others. And tbh I'm happy for those streamers to move onto things they enjoy more while streamers with barely double digit views get some extra watchers. And in the end there are still a LOT of streamers with 1000+ watchers on their daily dbd streams.
