I mean there are P100 rewards coming up, they were just delayed to make room for all of the upcoming improvements due to the recent buggy releases.
I'm not sure where the argument that Tokyo Ghoul doesn't fit in with DBD comes from. There's a good amount of horror in it, and I think people are quick to discount that just because it's an anime. He absolutely fits into DBD imo.
Nic Cage is probably a more decent argument but considering Survivors are literally just people, it's kind of whatever. Horror and comedic relief go hand in hand a lot of the time too, I think people tend to forget that.
It's the theme that's the issue. I think Junji Ito was a perfect fit, but Tokyo Ghoul or Attack On Titan aren't. But considering how much they've branched off of the original feel ever since All-Kill, I can't really complain about it. If anything there's no excuse not to add Scooby-Doo anymore.

I didn't say they were being super aggressive, I said they were being dishonest and intentionally provocative.
Tone isn't everything; manipulative people will often say some of the most vile things imaginable with a smile on their face, and a "Please" and "Thank you".
If people like that get removed from the forums, good. They're not contributing to constructive feedback or productive solutions.
Alright. I'll leave you to it then.
-
We should absolutely get rewards for things like hitting p100, I agree. The licenses are the lifeblood of DBD so I'm not really bothered by those. One thing I really despise however is how common Very Rare cosmetics are. Every new set releases as one, even if it's broken. The rarity is so high that you're unlikely to get it without AC and I think that's really crappy to do to the audience.

The universe is interesting enough that I would. However, I'm a bit of a story snob so it would have to be good. I'm gonna be honest—I haven't read a single good plot from the game thus far. Dwight's lore has him drugging people casually (more than once) like it's nothing, Jane seems really whiny, and David's coming out story was like a YA novel had a baby with a late-90s rom com and called itself a cultural shift. Harsh, I know. But that's why I'd require it to be good. 😝

When someone's being toxic, I call it out. This forum's become bloated with trolls who argue in bad faith constantly and then get mad at you when you point it out. People have gotten way too comfortable saying things on the internet that would get them punched in the face in real life.
Polite discussion with such people normalizes them. How bad could they be if you aren't treating them as though they are behaving badly?
That's my point though. I don't see anyone being super aggressive, so I don't know why we need to throw down. I've seen the other threads and people are getting banned from interacting with you. It's getting out of hand. Again, I'm not trying to call you out or be a d*ck. I'm just saying you should chill out.

No, it isn't. I literally just accurately described what Survivor's main objective is, and you call it "bad faith" and "disrespect".
And I notice you have no problem claiming, without proof, that Killer is the easier role. So you clearly have no problem "disrespecting the time and effort people put into learning the game" so long as it's being done to Killer players.
You really are just here to badmouth Killer and defend Survivor at this point. You should be ashamed of yourself for this level of dishonesty.
Can I just say, and I mean this with all due respect, you really need to take a chill pill. I don't know what it is that gives you such a strong personal and moral stake in these conversations, but whatever it is, I genuinely hope you find it and you don't keep acting like this. It really doesn't do you any favors.

I agree. If face camping is meant to be discouraged, I don't see why giving other players the info to coordinate against it a bad idea.

Well, ask yourself why pre-nerf Dead Hard was so popular and powerful, even at the highest levels of play.
Even a single extra health state can decide the outcome of a match, particularly against Killers that already struggle to get hits in a timely manner. When you're playing Killer, every second counts.
This is also one of the main reasons why overtuned healing perks like pre-nerf Circle of Healing were a problem, by the way. When Survivors can consistently heal injuries faster than the Killer can make them, things get pretty brutal for the Killer.
Splitting hairs again, soz. But Dead Hard has always been more of a skill perk. Most people would panic and bump into walls using it and in the wrong hands Sprint Burst or Lithe were always more practical. The main issue was that DH was being used to win palette races, so it was nerfed so that Killer wins those more often than not.
Now, like @MDRSan said, it's about endurance and it requires even more skill to use. I'd say its only rival in that department is Hyperfocus, but that's a lot more boring to use so you never see it.

You have to identify the right gens to work on… and then you spend 90 seconds standing still, holding M1 and making no meaningful decisions.
You have to identify and break a 3-gen… and then you spend 90 seconds standing still, holding M1 and making no meaningful decisions.
You have to rotate correctly… and then you spend 90 seconds standing still, holding M1 and making no meaningful decisions.
If you genuinely find that difficult or stressful, maybe video games just aren't for you.
He's right you know. Gens are boring, but if you think there's no tact in deciding which gens to work on and when, you don't get it. In a lot of ways, DBD has shifted focus over the years to where the macro play is more on the side of Survivor and the micro is more on the side of Killer. Which makes no sense, but y'know.

The /lgbt/ board existing doesn't mean the website is remotely tolerant either, that board is full of self-hating brainrot. Not the kind of place you want to be.
It's actually the reverse in all honesty. I can name all of the most problematic boards on one hand. The rest are harmless.
It's sort of like reddit. You can either talk about beanie babies or how to tend a garden, or you can talk about how much you hate a specific influencer or how society deserves to crumble.

I was a big dummy in another thread and said it'd be neat to see the RPD with rain outside. But it's so minor it's easy to forget. A downpour would be really cool.
But at the same time, I feel like weather effects would be buggy and they'd be rallied against until they become worse than Reagents (but still hung around in the blood web of course).

It literally makes no sense to me because why, as a potential stakeholder looming over the game, incentivise a poor product that acts like a cash crop that lasts maybe a week, rather than actually letting ( if given the opportunity, potentially decent) developers actually perfect the product and ensure profit margins over a longer period of time and also bring good reviews to the game😭
Stakeholders have been the worse thing ever for the current gaming era
I know there's some backing from the Canadian government. You see it in the splash screen. Not sure the extent of that. Additionally, they only really have to prove how much money the game is going to make (which it does) and have some in-office demo of the gameplay like they did when they were teasing Lights Out. They can comfortably keep the suits in the dark about most of it. I think even something like TWD stream is far enough removed from the license that it doesn't threaten that either.\
I agree though. It's sort of like the chokehold Nintendo had in the 90s.

Only on survivors I don't like Pale Rose.I love RPD just for aesthetics alone, but man is it terrible in 2v8. Too easy for the Killers to patrol the main hall and force the trial to stall.

How would you react if someone said they were going to kill you, or your friend? Not very well, I'd hope.
So why, then, would you give it a pass if someone said they were going to kill an entire group of people, based on their race, gender, sexuality, religion, etc.?
And make no mistake, for far, far, far too many of these 4Chan types, that is the end goal. To murder entire categories of human being.
Splitting hairs here, but aside from a few boards, 4chan is pretty tame. You have /r9k/ existing alongside /lgbt/ for instance. Or my fav /wg/. 😍

On top of that this place is already a dead ghost town with like what 20 active posters? Definitely feels like I only see the same 10 names on a daily basis. The moderation in this place as killed it Dbd is a huge IP with a consistent strong player base the fact this place is as slow as it is should show you it's being poisoned and trust me THAT is not a good thing.. if anything all mods should be fired and volunteer positions should open for pruning of illegal content inappropriate images and extreme direct racism and the other "isms"
But other then keeping things dbd related everything should fair game. Actual good conversations happen in hectic environments with strong passion. It isn't a coincidence that war breeds progress.
Trust me, I get your argument entirely and I do agree. I post lots of places and see badmin behavior constantly. It's just equal parts not caring that much here and knowing that the DBD community can barely handle free speech (in my opinion), so these sorts of things happen inevitably.

You forgot to mention matchmaking, which is literally non-functional and in my opinion the biggest problem with the game by a long shot. I have about 2,500 hours, have an escape rate slightly above the 40% average, yet today alone as I was queuing up for survivor matches got one lobby with a player who had 12 hours in the game and another lobby with a player who had 19 hours. And I could tell it was not due to lobby backfilling.
This type of matchmaking failure is inexcusable. The survivor experience will never get any better, especially for experienced solo queue players, until the system is fixed in such a way that this cannot happen. I’m pretty sure we’ve been promised multiple times in the past that the system would be improved, but still nothing has been done about it. The old system, as flawed as it was, felt way better, and at least for now we’d be better off if the devs simply reverted back to the old system rather than continuing to defend this busted system that isn’t even close to functional.I could be wrong but I'm starting to believe the old system felt better because the game had a different direction. MMR immediately brought the more competitive mindset, while the old system didn't (even when I was like Bronze III going up against Iri 1s all day).

By the way, before downvotes I don't think people even realized how many survivors are disatisfied with dbd. They were scared to speak out and now some killers are afraid of losing their echo chamber. I'm glad to see at least some things are changing.
That's an interesting perspective. I never thought of it like that. 🤔

Disagreements are part of the democratic system... if you let a downvote sway you, perhaps you're not so sure of what was just said/written.
I don't mean this personally toward anyone, but I have noticed DBD players are particularly sensitive. Even if they play other PVP games that are just as gritty, something about DBD turns them incredibly soft. It gets so bad that at times I wonder how they even handle human interaction.

Who said we were okay with this? There's literally nothing we can do apart from not playing, and even that isn't working. You'd think the insane queue time for Killers, which is caused the decreasingly smaller Survivor pool, would be a wake up call, but it isn't. BHVR continues to ignore Survivor feedback and only want to make Killers happy.
For the last 3 years, we've been led to believe that queue times were the most important thing in the game. But that hasn't seemed to be the case at all lately. Part of me wonders if that was just an excuse.

It needs to happen much sooner. I'm actually baffled that they let this slop make its way to live servers. Do they not have an internal team who tests new killers before release?
I think it's par for the course. In my opinion, I don't get the sense that their advisors really have very much sway. I think the most important thing is to make the Killer as attractive as possible to boost sales, then to nerf the Killer once they hit their target goal. I can't think of any other reason that would make sense at this point.

Well, gen could regress on their own better before 6.1.0, as ruin was 200% before that patch. In 6.1.0. ruin was 100% and turned off if someone dies. Eruption was quite stupid at the time but at least it required the killer to get a down. Camping was much easier before 6.1.0 than after it. And one year after came the anti-facecamp feature.
In the situation you describe, survivors could do even less before the 6.1.0 because there was no basekit endurance and the killer could just hit the hooked survivor after the end of the animation and get them back on the hook if they did not have DS. The gen kick meta was horrible, the worst thing that came with that patch, but it was changed with time.
Fun is something we can discuss because it has some subjective elements, but, at least for me, DBD is quite fun still. When its not i will just quit the game, as i did with other games i've played through my life.
I rather much more play the 2025 DBD than the 2020 version.
Edit: I understand we have different views on the matter, i am just trying to prove my point.
In a vacuum, possibly. But the changes combined made it so that the Killer could stand in front of the hook and recover quickly enough to deny a hook trade on a healthy Survivor. The other Survivors would try to work on gens, but they'd regress too strongly before they could complete all 5. Basekit BT was implemented, but it was too weak to do much that first week and even after the second, it didn't prevent the Killer from acting the same.
I think it was impossible to counter that without 2 Survivors on the unhook or Desperate Measures. It was very hopeless, but like today, those issues were blamed on Survivor and not balance.
That's fair. I'm not saying you're wrong either, just sharing my perspective as well.
-
They can be annoying when they do it CONSTANTLY, but otherwise it doesn't usually bother me too much. I just keep my distance. 😵
-
@Brisingr said:
While I honestly can't think of many situations where auto recovery is harmful strategically, I do agree with you that BHVR has made many decisions that dumb the game down, and it's something we should definitely avoid if we can.
I'd even consider the struggle on hook change—where you hit skillchecks instead of button mashing—as dumbing down the game, as it reduces the variety of mechanics. I personally hate button mashing, so I don't mind it, but it's something to think about.
Killer Klowns did this thing where whenever you're dead, you play mini games to help the team. It wasn't super successful, but I think something akin to that could work in DBD. Hitting skill checks on hook or while downed give little player buffs to the other Survivors and if you choose to spectate after dying, you could do more of the same. It'd be a neat idea and at least give us something to do.

Survivors should be renamed to victims because that’s what the role is, Killer main content creators have this game by the balls
But I doubt the play while you wait feature will be implemented because enough survivors are still queuing up to be punching bags
The bonus is almost always on Survivor and the game needs more of them to thrive, so it might be implemented sooner rather than later.

Personally, yes. I have stated this multiple times. However...
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4006952#Comment_4006952
Doing gens.
When push comes to shove, the killer community cannot think of anything they actually dislike, except for one thing: losing.
And that's not something we can 'fix'.
Come up with an actual problem and you'll get support.
That's what will always make asymms impossible to balance. Killer wants to maintain their status as the power role, but generally without consequence. Winning is always at the top of the stack. There are a lot of synonyms for that like "feared" or "respected" but it all boils down to the same thing. Meanwhile, Survivor prioritizes participation and play. They want the freedom to run around and complete objectives, whether they're side or main, and to feel like their time was valuable and it meant something.
Trying to meet in the middle is a tug of war I think.

Because nothing a survivor does (short of cheats) can make a killer physically unable to play the game, the killer will always have agency.
I don't know why this simple statement is so hard to grasp. You can maybe not care, but at least accept it.
It's the psychological impact. It's why you'll see bagging at the gates compared to tunneling time and time again. The gameplay element is moot in the argument as long as the anguish is present.
Not that I think it's a totally fair argument, but y'know.

Sorry but the game was everything but balanced back then (2019-2020). I've started playing around this time and both sides had so many stupid stuff that was incredible to consider this game had a playerbase.
I remember doing gens in killers face because i had Decisive Strike and even if i got down, i could put the killer into a lose-lose situation with DS + Unbrekable; Medkits could heal you 3 times in 8 seconds each heal with the right addons; BNPs were stronger;
Spirit was at her prime with Mother-Daughter Ring + Amulet; Nurse had range addons; Freddy was weak but could play "Forever Freddy" which killed people with boredom; 3 Hatchets Instadown Huntress was a thing; Ruin and Pop was a common combo; Mori's didn't need a second hook; there was no basekit BT.
People really like to hate the 6.1.0 patch but was one of the healthiest change this game ever received. Many killers were nerfed/rework after this, but people seem to forget.
The only thing i would say is that the game is more and more focused on experienced player than casuals/newer players. But that is something that happens when you have a game with people for 10k hours of gameplay.
The game is in a much healthier state now than it was ever before.
And yet it was still more fun. I remember it sucking and being frustrating, but I felt like I had more agency.
Year 5 was the first noticeable shift with MMR, but year 6 was ground zero. My earliest memories of 6.1.0 was having gens regress on their own while the Killer stood in front of hooks and nobody could do anything about it, hence the birth of "going next" every single trial. I can respect that we feel differently about it, but it was far less about health and more about making one side incredibly appealing over the other and that's still going strong to this day.

That's why I'll play poorly as Killer on purpose. Too friendly to kill anyone, but also too friendly to give them a boring terrible experience. 😝 I like to think that they get a confidence boost thinking they got one over on me.

Its because a lot of the survivors have the mentality that if they dont win, the whole game was unfun (even tho it happned in the past at the point they die) but if they win, the game was fun.
I dont need to win to have fun, but if i had fun i do consider it a win, i dont care if i die.
And wow, 11 down votes for saying im having fun 😂😂😂
I don't know that I would say that. I think a lot of Survivors would agree that some wins still feel terrible and that many only happen because the Killer handed it to them, which doesn't really make the game feel interactive.

This whole thread is trying to set a false narrative, that EVERY killer perk that was involved in this update, is required to be a regression perk.
I could potentially agree that it's a side effect, much like how No Mither was buffed. In the case of the latter, it's an anti-slug perk so I'm sure it was on their radar and got a pass. But it was unrelated to the proposed changes and got a change that was outside of that system.

Should be a new system rule. Account is required to have X number of posts. Forum post or comments of a least 'triple digit' number before allowed to even post pics or links unless its a approved DBD reply or w/e.
That wouldn't be a bad idea. It introduces the issue of spam, but that seems to be under control as is. The real question is if the forum code will allow for that.

The one positive aspect of the change for me is allowing it during endgame. I think regardless of what they do, that should stay.

They hate survivors so much they punish them for playing the game.
Don't worry, their solution would be "play survivor while you wait". They'll do absolutely anything to keep survivors miserable and killer easy mode.
That's one of my concerns too. It would be all too easy to implement Play As You Wait to cover any balance issues that affect the queue. It maintains itself essentially.

Skill checks have always been off for me. I tried running a few builds that rely on Deadline when Alan dropped, but it never actually seemed to give me more skill checks, just inconsistent placement akin to Doctor's Insanity. I'm still getting skill checks the second I let go of a generator which wasn't supposed to happen anymore either.
