Ace's blonde hair is fun. I could play around a lot with it. But that's what, $10 and like 70 levels? Where the very first week of the Rift challenges includes "Play 20 trials"? No thanks.

Yeah, you can't mix and match these skins with like anything, lol. I love to create good looking outfits, but these recent rift cosmetics can't be combined with anything! They all look so over the top and needlessly gaudy to me.
Definitely. Even the blonde Ace head I like is very waxy and Ken doll.

I just saw DC x Sonic The Hedgehog crossovers at the store, so I'm sure DC isn't a hard one to pull. Although aesthetically, I think they're better off going specifically with Vertigo or something different altogether like Dark Horse.

Honestly took the words out of my mouth. Me and my duo joke often that we spend more time dressing up our characters than actually playing 🤣
It's definitely getting harder to cook up good outfits though. There's not enough "neutrals". All of their original Survivors should have a store option for a plain shirt and pair of jeans in a couple of standard colours (like black or navy or something) IMO. They already have the meshes because the Twitch/Iron Maiden shirts exist. They'd just need to recolour them.
When I saw the Axekick shirts that came with the latest Chapter I was so excited thinking I could have a plain(ish) black t-shirt to mix and match with on all the Survivors but it turns out they only added it for like four Survivors 😭
A great example of that is that citrus shirt for Dwight years ago. It's loud, but that's fine because it's still practical and can mesh with lots of things
True. A lot of the older cosmetics in this game are great for combo-ing. I wish we'd see more in that style: fun but relatively simple.
No kidding. I opened the game to see the new Rift, decided I only liked Ace's blonde head (which is saying A LOT because Vittorio is obviously one of my mains), and played dress up for like 30 minutes. Figured I'd play one trial while it was open, experienced yet another steamroll, and closed the game again. 😵
We really do need them. If every piece is competing to be the most special and amazing, we just end up with something that looks like a trash heap. Maximalist clutter is a thing to be fair, but none of it is quite that either.

I totally agree!
I've always enjoyed the more down to earth cosmetics, but I feel like we've been getting less and less of those. This recent rift especially is the worst I've seen in awhile. Does anyone actually enjoy this "theme"? The stained glass doesn't even look like glass, lol. And the Dredge skin not only blocks most of your screen but also looks significantly worse compared to the amazing concept art.
Overall this is just so disappointing.
I wanna say I see the vision. Couture Spanish cathedral, or something along those lines. But unless you plan on wearing each outfit as an entire set, what do you do with it? Never mind the fact that the colors are very bright and/or saturated and highly visible. It's like they're designing cosmetics for a different game.

Mean Streets collection to this day
True! Mean Streets is a real treasure trove.
I also personally miss getting good base-outfit recolours. Vee is the first character in a while that I feel had good ones. We've had a few years where the recolours have had kind of weird colour schemes or patterns.
Absolutely. Not to get all fashion critic, but it feels borderline sinful some of the stuff we get. I'm not going to match a pattern with a pattern. 😭 Sometimes we need denim and solid colors to balance some of the crazier stuff. Why can't we have a cute brown leather bomber jacket or a black button up? A great example of that is that citrus shirt for Dwight years ago. It's loud, but that's fine because it's still practical and can mesh with lots of things. I'm constantly finding myself stuck where I think one piece would be fantastic with the right top or bottom, but it doesn't exist. Instead we're getting more and more stuff that can't be mixed or matched.

Agreed. Trying to mix and match with the high-concept outfits they keep giving us is a nightmare. I appreciate they base the Rifts around themes, but they also need to make sure the outfits are wearable! Yun-Jin's is probably the only outfit this Rift that strikes a good balance between fitting the theme and being wearable. The hairstyle, at least, pairs well with a lot of her stuff. Most of the others are too overboard.
They need to remember that this game is not Fortnite, and practicality also needs to be considered. Long, flowy dresses whose physics regularly break and obscure the game are not practical. Outfits so white that they're practicaly luminous are not practical. And neither are weapons that are so big they block the screen.
I've long been a huge defender of the art team in this game. For years they were the only part of this game to consistently deliver quality content. But in the past few years things have gotten kind of messy…
Definitely. If something is silver and gold and it clashes, it's whatever. But a pair of pants with 5 colors is not going to match very much at all. A gigantic black and bright blue mullet is going right into the junk pile.
I think back to the older collections and while they weren't perfect either, they at least gave me lots of room for play. I still get so much mileage out of the Mean Streets collection to this day.

It's a tragedy. I liked Thalita's skirt and boots combo from the metal rift in addition to David's tops. But other than that, it was a big waste of money.

I really don't enjoy how the last few Rifts have been so heavily themed. I want clothing, not cosplays or high fashion. You used to get a variety of outfits with maybe a broad idea uniting them that still allowed for variety. Now everything is a single specific idea that everything adheres to and I don't think any of them look good outside of one or two exceptions. I don't want to wear this junk on my characters.
I agree completely. I think it can be fun at times, but it's almost like a bunch of cosplays like you said. It's getting to the point where I'll spend 10 bucks on maybe 2 outfits and only 1 piece from each is worthwhile. That's a really crappy deal.
For instance, Felix's suits from the last Rift caught my eye. I hated the heads, but the bodies were nice. The problem is that only one of them were really great to me and of course it was the last one. That is so much time, effort, and ultimately money for two pieces of one set. I'd rather just play with what I already have.
-
I've said this a lot, but I'm going to go gloves off this time. Again, all of this is my opinion.
Cosmetics are getting uglier in general, and the Rift is the epicenter of a lot of that. Just talking heads alone, the styles are so cosplay-wig adjacent with that Playdough-y Fortnite look to it. We're getting ugly glasses and ugly piercings on top of that too. Then when it comes to the outfits, they're real hit or miss. That top for Jake with the denim jacket was cute, but the sports bra was absolutely not. If we wanted to go Sleepaway Camp, there was a much better way of doing so. And David's outfit from the metal Rift was borderline offensive, how HIDEOUS it was. I use the top sometimes, but even that is hard to match with his existing cosmetics. The game has always had issues with encouraging play with the cosmetics, but it's getting worse as time goes on. Sets that don't match anything but themselves. Vittorio is a fantastic example of that with his tattoos. Why would you make a set that changes them red when most of them are blue?
I could rant for days about it. But if they want us to play dress up, give us SOMETHING. Ugly stuff that doesn't match anything is encouraging me not to spend money.
-
I'll still buy chapters and cosmetics if I like them. The problem is that I'm liking less and less. Felix's suit in the last Rift had potential but I wasn't spending 10 bucks for it. I only buy male Survivors for the most part, so there's a lot of money I'm not spending there either.

Not everyone can, or wants to, play every day. People have work, social, kids, and sports commitments, plus all the other fun things that come with running a household. Not to mention when people do have time for a few games one night they might feel like playing a different game and not DBD. The devs can absolutely make it so you need to play daily to make it through the Rift, it's their game afterall. But in all likelihood a lot of people who can't play every day will just stop buying the Rift Pass because they don't feel it's worth it if they can't finish it. That's the case with me anyway.
My guess is that by focusing on licensed content, they feel like they can cut their losses here. In fact a lot of the game feels like that right now. Like they're phasing things out that shouldn't be phased out.

Gonna be honest, as someone who’s been doing every Rift since Rift 5, this one is easily the most boring one so far. Out of all killers, it’s again Trickster… and maybe it’s just me, but the skins look rushed and uninspired. If I didn’t get my Auric Cells back, this would honestly be the first Rift I’d ever skip.
THIS IS ALL JUST MY OPINION—I don't know what goes on, I wasn't there. But, going off of my experience with how things operate on a project like DBD, I'm more than willing to bet that he's a favorite of the art team. Same with the usual suspects on Survivor. It's easier to adapt cutesy things to cutesy characters. The more they do that, the more they attract specific whales (people that will spend large amounts of money, to clarify), and then a cycle forms where the end justifies the means. That's why I think we don't get a lot of diversity when it comes to cosmetics anymore. And when we do, it's odd things that clash because only a handful of characters can be the "muse".

That was the equally awful "go next" system that they launched at the same time.
Crows punishment was entirely within the match, since it was way, way overtuned at launch and revealing survivors who were playing the game normally.
The punishment was letting the killer know they were there and effectively deleting stealth, which was still not good.
Thank you for clarifying. 😎

That means you would be completely fine if the AFK crows got super boosted, because the AFK crows don't threaten anyone with disconnect penalties and grades losses.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the system already is designed to do that. I remember seeing when it went live that players were having trouble stealthing without triggering the system and receiving a punishment.

i think trying to get people to q up to remove the penalty isnt a good thing. it encourages people that already stressed out and reached their limit to continue playing the game where they will attempt to go next and take out the frustrations on other players.
previous system gave people 24 hours to cool off, it didnt say "we know you have had enough and likely to dc again or go next but keep playing to remove the penalty"
with this in mind, the old system was better. i try to think about things as me being in that situation. if im going to DC because im frustrated that much time after time then i get a chance to reduce it by playing 20 matches… thats 20 matches i can go next in (pretty quickly done maybe under 2 hours) bingo i earnt free DC again. for someone that plays 8 hours consecutively 2 hours of going next to earn more free DC is nothing.
old system… if im going to DC due to being stressed and annoyed time after time then i get hit with a 60 sec pen, 5min i think ok another time i do this im getting hit hard for a full 24 hours with no going back so better play the game or come back tomorrow. i can go next as many times as i like in 24 hours but my pen remains the same so there is no incentive for me continue and intentionally go next to reduce my timer.
i say bring back 24 hour timer and let people cool off, dont let them continue to play when they are that frustrated with the game.
100%. Not only did it cool them off, it kept them out of the queue in a healthy way. The current system is more of a form of cruel and unusual punishment. It's designed to make you feel like you did something bad by DCing more than it's designed to keep you out of the game for a minute. Especially with the way that it's bugged, you're meant to feel extra bad if you were tunneled hard enough.

Yes. What matters is the immediacy of them. Allowing someone to DC from a match and instantly requeue encourages this lobby-shopping style of gameplay. The penalties getting aggressively worse is meaningless if the first ones are free because these people are avoiding reaching those stages. 20 matches is not that much for someone whose main or only game is DbD. The first few DCs are the crucial ones to target. There needs to be an immediate penalty that delays the requeuing. Even if it is just short like 60 seconds or a couple of minutes.
When DCing and requeuing is quicker than naturally playing out the rest of the match, people have no incentive to stay. If anything (or nothing) happens that they dislike? They just DC and find a match they deem "better" (which is an abitrary metric these days but still) in record time
I dunno. I'd say DBD has been my main game overall for years now and 20 trials are a SLOG. Not saying it's that way for everyone, but I'm sure it is for a lot. And 2 free ones is still a very small window. That being said, if there are enough complaints about it, I can see them dropping it back to 1.

@OnryosTapeRentals said:

Well, no. Because you can get multiple free DCs and only then do the too-short penalties start to kick in.
Revert them to how they used to work and then they'll actually get hit with the penalties.
What? Two free DCs and then penalties that get aggressively worse, don't count down outside of the queue, and only degrade after 20 trials is lighter than penalties that naturally decay every 24 hours?

I don't blame you. Trust me, I'm hesitant to even AFK when I'm kissing the floor for 4 minutes just in case the system flags me.

And yet we have people in here claiming they see DC's in a third of their matches, iirc.
People are getting the penalties. They just don't care.
I have no idea if that's true, for the record. The last update I heard was that it was match-based. You have to play a certain number of matches in order to clear the record. I haven't heard any announcements stating this was changed. Do you have any of that information so I can read it?
I DCed my last session (pours gasoline over my head in anticipation) and it was free. I haven't done it twice in a row per 20 trials so I can't confirm on the frequency at all, but I know at least one is free.

I think what he's trying to say is that survivors constantly disconnecting does not affect any metrics that might cause BHVR to panic and reassess the situation.
A player who queues for matches and then disconnects is still an online player who facilitates matchmaking and could potentially buy DLC.
The reason why killers keep getting their way, such as with the MFT nerfs and the backtracking on tunneling and slugging changes is that killers, as an entire whole, stated they would (and in the case of the MFT era, actually did) stop playing entirely.
I'm not talking "They started up the game and started disconnecting from matches," either.
I'm talking about not even starting up the game in the first place, and in the case of the recent tunneling and slugging changes, a lot of killer players outright uninstalled and walked away from the game entirely.
This means there were a whole lot of killer players at a bare minimum threatening to kneecap BHVR's revenue stream by not buying DLC anymore, and a bunch of them may have actually followed through on that threat.
Compare that to survivors who chronically ragequit, who do not meaningfully impact BHVR's bottom line, and it's really quite trivial to figure out which group BHVR is going to listen to.
I highly agree and we've seen the evidence of this since at least year 6. When it comes to an issue like DCing, I genuinely find it hard to believe that the bulk of the complaints are coming from Survivors. I do think it's more from Killers that want a PVE experience without it actually being PVE.

more reasons to stick around before we start blaming them for the state of the game.
The reason to stick around is that you (speaking generally) signed up to play a match when you hit the "ready" button. Simple as. The "giving up" mentality in this community has been going on for too long and I've had enough of it. I used to be lenient and think "Well they were being tunneled so I get their frustration," and the like. But now giving up isn't just reserved for extreme scenarios. It's everything.
Load in? DC. Get found? DC. Get Hit? DC. Hooked? DC. Get Exposed by your own Dramaturgy? DC. Weak Killer? DC. Strong Killer? DC. Good map? DC. Bad map? DC.
Even in the case of camping/tunneling/slugging I don't think it's justified anymore. Because what else did you expect from the game? These have been staple strategies in DbD for the past decade. If you boot up DbD and play anything more than a couple of matches, you KNOW you'll encounter one of these sooner or later. So then why play if you find the common strategies of the game so offensive? It's baffling to me. We can have discussions about whether camping/tunneling/slugging should exist, but the reality of the situation is that, right now, they DO exist. And if you (speaking generally) aren't prepared to handle that in a sportsmanlike manner when it crops up, then you should not queue. These people should wait for the anti-X/Y/Z updates and then give the game another go then.
~33% of my matches have someone DC. And that's not even including AFKing under hooks/running to the killer/griefing etc. because it's harder to track. I'm completely over it. These people have worn down any empathy I had for them, and, by extension, the issues they advocate for.
If you're (speaking generally) frustrated with the state of the game, fine. Understandable. Lots of people are for lots of different reasons. The sensible thing to do in that situation? Stop queuing for it. When BHVR sees the numbers drop they'll get the hint that people aren't happy and do something about it.
But instead of taking the sensible approach, a lot of Survivors have taken to sabotaging their own role. Queing up just to DC and leave the team stranded in an unwinnable game only serves to ruin the other Survivor's experience. It's the worst form of protest they could possible do. The Killer isn't going to say no to an easy win and so the only thing achieved is making the Survivor role worse for everybody else. Either these people like the game, or they don't. But they need to figure it out quickly because they're making it suck for everyone else in the meantime.
We'll just have to agree to disagree.

They will stop queuing. These people have quit the game, they just haven't realised it yet.
That's a very good point. I think physically a lot of people are done, but mentally they're still catching up. It says a lot about their investment since that sort of reaction is usually reserved for things that impact people on a deeper level. That's the level of support BHVR has but doesn't appreciate (in my opinion).
@AmpersandUnderscore said:

Thankfully most of them deal with that rationally instead of taking it out on innocent players who have nothing to do with their problems
I haven't read anything so wrong so fast in a while.
The response to phase 2 was absolutely anything but this. I've seen only panic and rage at anything that might actually address any of the reasons behind why people might dc, and the literal meta of "you don't get to play a match".
I've also seen zero actual evidence of issues, not even anecdotal, because it was tested for less than 48 hours and people had already made up their minds 6 months ago when they saw the words "anti tunnel" and "anti slug" in the road map.
Why does this mentality of yours, specifically "if you don't like it just quit" literally only apply to survivors?
Because whenever, and I mean even at the slightest hint, there's a conversation about fixing core issues where killers might have to give for the sake of balance or even game health, the very first thing in every single thread is "you can't do this or we'll all leave" and "the game will die when we quit". So where's this cavalier "just quit" attitude then?
There are some people who can have meaningful conversations, but the loudest voices, the ones that BHVR actually listens to, are anything but "rational" most of the time.
I agree, but I will say that DCing is mostly a Survivor issue because they seem to do it the most. It's also one of the most one-sided arguments in the game. We can admit that camping/tunneling/slugging is out of control. We can admit that MMR is terrible. We can admit that Survivor perks are less attractive and less effective (going by the frequency of "meta" perks on each side). We can admit that the changes to Survivor this year have been pretty brutal. We can even agree that by design Survivors are supposed to lose much more often. But we can't give them a pass for getting frustrated enough to leave? Even when that doesn't affect the majority of trials anymore? Even when there's harsh penalties for doing so?
I think the rage about phase 2 encapsulates that feeling pretty well. One side feels targeted, while the other is targeted. I'm not trying to make a federal case out of it, but it does frame everything else in the game and the community surrounding it.

Exactly. Everyone knows the Survivor role has issues that need solved, and so it’s understandable to be frustrated. But if people can’t channel that frustration healthily, then they need to stop playing.
By loading into match after match and instant DCing, they’re just ruining the experience for every other Survivor and giving the Killer an easy win. They’ll complain that they’re only DCing because “Survivor sucks” but half the reason it sucks in the first place is because of teammates giving up all of the time! They’re their own worst enemies and they don’t even realise it.
I used to be quite lenient about DCs/giveups but my patience for it has worn thin and I have very little empathy left for the chronic giving up crowd. Players who ready up knowing they’re probably going to DC and leave their teammates stranded are just as bad as the campers/tunnelers/sluggers they advocate against.
At the very least, I'd think we should at least try giving more autonomy to Survivor and more reasons to stick around before we start blaming them for the state of the game.

This is the problem: punishing DCs without addressing their source. They need to change the wincon and make the survivor role less selfish. If I'm solo and a killer is tunneling me, what's my motivation to fight it? Randoms that don't care about me? But If I can survive long enough for them to get us on a winning trajectory, I could get a win on my record instead of just a death, even if I died. If it's a team role then the team should win or lose as a whole. That would decrease the feeling of insta-defeat for individual players. It would also end ratting.
This is how I feel too. When the game became a little easier for Killer, camping/tunneling/slugging didn't change. There's no way we can know for sure if giving up would become less frequent if the Survivor role was less awful, but can we at least try and see?

Yeah the Resident Evil x DbD lore was not good… Not sure whether BHVR or Capcom is to blame for it, but it was laughable either way. I think it would've actually been better to leave the circumstances of their entry to the realm up to the imagination if they couldn't (for licensing or other reasons) come up with anything more interesting.
That's where I'm at with a lot of it to be honest. I think what we come up with individually for ourselves will always be more meaningful than the lore we're given. We play these voiceless characters constantly and change them to look the way we want, change them to perform the way we see fit, so why not impress our own story onto them as well?
-
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
The premise would interest me, but the quality of the writing would be a concern for me.
Sadly, DbD's lore is riddled with spelling mistakes, contradictions, and odd editorial and narrative choices.
It's licensed so I can't say it's entirely BHVR's fault, but Jill's lore of "She escapes from Nemesis, runs into a basement and opens a chest, only to surface in the realm 😱 " is criminal to me.
-
I don't think that'll happen, but I'd like to replay old ones too. That $70 price tag just for me to get David's London Dawn jacket was insane (obviously I had to let it go).
-
The DBD Day challenges offer more Rift Fragments which is nice. But nowhere near enough for me to be interested in playing with the current state of the game.
-
I think they've always been this way. Regardless of what we're told, the Hag situation still happened. Then later on, right as they were letting 6.1.0 stew and they said they wouldn't make knee jerk reactions, we had the drama around Mettle Of Man and they had to be forced to revert it. They habitually seem to let the wrong things fester while fixing what isn't broken alongside it. It's what keeps the game at this one step forward, two steps back pace. At least in my opinion.
-
No everyone hates the game, but I'm not really sure why to be honest. I think some people are naturally unbothered by most things.
I agree that the average player seems to and the only reason numbers get so high is because of the high turnover rate. The numbers stabilize, but we don't see how many players are leaving on a regular basis. Or even how many players, like many of us here, take very long breaks.
-
I didn't complete a single milestone this time.
-
It feels as slow as those first couple of Rifts back in the day that were extremely grindy. It doesn't feel as bad thankfully, but there's no way most people are going to clear it.

They are only useful if the killer is dumb enough to chase a good looper and they are just on a gen.

I once had fallen refuge pub blight tryharding with 5 slowdowns and getting a tunnel out at like 4 gens and we popped all of them in 3v1 cuz randos locked in, held the chase while blight was clearly shaking for this $20k tournament price pot and refusing to properly commit, ending up running out of kicks and losing the gens.
I dont really know how the match ended, he killed me in endgame and I didnt really care to see how it ended, I think he did get outed cuz one of randos was on gates, while me and other teammates were distracting, but it was a good proof of concept to never stop trying.
Those are the ones that usually exhaust me the most.
I got very lucky with a solo group where we all had great synergy against a Spirit that was aggressively tunneling and slugging all trial and we all got out. I did enjoy playing with the other Survivors, but it was deflating to see how far a Killer could get with such a cheesy strat and how screwed we would've been had MMR not have given us a golden ticket.
Naturally, I got to see how screwed the trial after. And the trial after that. 😛

ive won a plenty of 3v1s if there arent like 3+ gens left to do.
all it takes is a few good chases and people sticking to gens & not dying on them.
I have too, but it really depends on a lot. Lose enough of them and you start to lose hope and that leads to giving up/begging the Killer for an out.

While I agree, I do wish players wouldn't opt for the scummy behaviour of working with the killer to further make it a miserable game for the rest of the lobby.
If you don't want to participate, just die on hook. It's still irritating but at least someone else may get a lucky hatch escape or even try to push the objective as much as they can.
We did have that option before and it was removed. If DCing was considered more of a white flag (since you're replaced with a bot), I don't think it'd be as bad. As is, you have poor balancing and low morale plus harsher punishments for not committing once you've queued up. The grip has to be loosened somewhere.

It's a shame BHVR had to go and make it harder to die on hook. If someone gets tunneled out or gives up on first hook, there's hardly a point to playing the match anymore.
100%. That's why I say I haven't noticed an uptick in the quality of my trials so much as I've been forced to stick out bottlenecked trials until the Killer decides to down all of us.
-
I hate to say it, but if the trial wasn't cooked in the 3v1 there might be less desperate attempts to barter with the Killer.
-
It should be 3x for the queue alone. But I agree that the webs feel pointless in a number of ways, not made any better by the addition and subsequent nerf to Fog Vials.

Yeah the games have horror elements, she does make sense. But she feels weird. Yet Nick Cage doesn't feel weird to me. And it's not a modern vs classic thing because Stranger Things and TWD both feel fine to me too, despite not caring one single bit about either of those franchises.
Honestly BHVR should hire us for the vibe department. 😝

Whenever they don't use it, I assume it's because they find an element of the bugs interesting and want to see what happens. Sort of like those Huntress cheaters back in the day that basically became the framework for Trickster (in my opinion). Doesn't make you feel like much more than a lab rat, but it is what it is.
-
I wouldn't say always. Killer reworks are hit or miss in that department and some stuff does slip by for Survivor. Fog Vials are one such example. Even though they were never very strong to begin with and were killed immediately thereafter, they did make it out of the PTB. 😜 But it is an issue. One that's especially compounded by both phases of the health sweep now. At some point they're gonna have to stick to their guns on the mission plan or let this year be a massive failure.

Us vs them posts like this should be against the rules
It's a slippery slope. The game (and even BHVR, in my opinion) commands this sort of discourse and we end up walking on eggshells if we can't have it. It's better to discourage it most of the time than to flat out ban it.

I totally get what you're saying. I think most of the recent licenses are ill-suited. It's not about comedy, and Wes Craven was indeed pretty much a satirist. There's been a shift in the vibe of what they're choosing, a different energy. Having a big cartoony vampire, Lara Croft, and a screeching anime boy alongside Leatherface, Michael Myers, and Chucky feels hella weird to me. Maybe its the different between life action and animated/game franchises idk
For sure, and even Lara is sketchy because she should theoretically fit. But she doesn't.

I was absolutely not waiting for killer queues for that long across most of the weekend. There was a mix of killer and survivor bonus along with no bonus. The late evenings definitely are always faster for killers though due to the increase in SWFs.
Also this entire thread is just mostly 5 pages of utterly worthless bickering over nonsense just like every worthless bias thread that gets posted over these topics. The mods really should start just deleting them as spam and for inciting arguments. There is never any constructive discussion, its nothing but bait threads by angry people.
Booo. Let those of us on the sidelines have our entertainment. 😭

I think this has always been a thing. I know that David's Matinee Idol head glows but I don't think Bill ever has. It's long overdue for a correction. Smoke would be nice for both too, but I won't push for that.

Not gonna lie Wes Craven's work is full of theatrics and comedy. Freddy Kruger is always quipping one-liners and the like, it's generally quite flamboyant.
Scream was quite satirical in nature as well.
Even The Last House On The Left was strangely half-comedy. But that's not what I mean. It's hard to describe, but I know it when I feel it kinda thing.

I'm not sure why Tokyo Ghoul isn't a good fit specifically. I'd be more inclined to agree with Attack On Titan, but Tokyo Ghoul is filled with a lot of horror elements and is very gorey.
It's not really about whether it's horror or not, it's the kind of horror. I feel like DBD presented itself as something more Wes Craven or Rob Zombie adjacent when it first launched and it more or less kept that feel for a while. Junji Ito fits that category well to me. But the more flamboyant presentation, which is emblematic of things like Kpop and anime, betrays that feeling. But there's a lot of ways to look at it too. The game has to change over time and material starts to run thin, so it makes sense to branch out. They also have to appeal to a shifting audience, which is why I think we're getting flashier things as time goes on as well. But that's just my opinion.

Didn't the devs say we are getting p100 rewards but it wasn't going to be something grand like a skin it's gonna be a charm or emblem at most?
I can't recall but it sounds familar.

We still don't have any thing for devotion 😭
I'm fine with that, since we get Shards. But it would be neat to have a little badge for every 5 Devotion levels or something.

That's unfortunate.
I really liked the Legion's lore (guess that is why they made a full comic for them), and also Nurse's, but I know that is an unpopular opinion (I really like the descent into insanity)
It hits everyone differently, which is fair.

Sluzzy was diabolical. I do miss him, but my God was he crazy for those takes back then.
I swear Sluzzy got banned like a month after I discovered the forum but the level of complaints were legendary.
