It sells. That's all that matters at this point.

Exactly. The major difference is that Trapper shipped with the game. There's a consistent theme around new chapter releases that if it includes a Killer, that Killer will be over-buffed for the duration of the chapter and then they'll start getting nerfed afterward. There's only a few ways to interpret that design philosophy.

I can say this as a justification for my own posts as well, but it doesn't change the fact that you've twice interfered with my comments addressed to other people

I personally don't see the problem. It's a forum so we all interact with each other. And I feel like there's not a lot of hidden context that people are missing here. But if you'd like, I can make a mental note to not reply to you anymore.

It can’t exist even in realm of PvE, because environment isn’t against player on its own. It is used as a tool when other player affecting it.

Environment in DBD actually extremely uninteractable compared to real cross genre of PvP and PvE games. Actual example of cross genre is MMORPGs or Survivals like Rust or DayZ. U can die here because were hungry or had a lack of sources without opponent influencing on it. In dbd u can’t die because of environment. Only from endgame collapse maybe.

If for environment killing you it requires pulling the trigger of other side, it can’t be PvE. Even close to it. The only elements of PvE in this games are Nemesis’ zombies or Lich’s chest. Or when killer loading to the match full of bots. Elements. It's not making whole game even close to it still

That means that one side are treated like the PCs and the other side are treated like the NPCs

That’s are a huge exaggeration of what happening in DBD rn. Just because one’s role is offence while other is defence doesn't make someone close to NPC role. It's asymmetry of the genre and only. That’s why I don't like it. Just the perception of words instead of their actual meaning leads to the fact that they are conveniently adjusted to emotional sentiments.

They never said they were reverting it as far as I can tell

Changes can mean a lot of stuff. Reverting as well. But I doubt even if it turns I was right people would take their words and reaction back here. I didn't message “but they didn't tell they would nerf it even more” on someone comment. Sometimes, just sometimes at least, accept the fact that when devs posting undefined messages people can read it different. And don’t tell them they are wrong until it would be proved directly. I’ll accept my mistake only after bug fix release. Because when I tried to ask mods for clarification they ignored

    Dude, they're just words.

  • I see Oni as being a lot like Doctor. Very problematic and unhealthy under the right conditions, but not offensive enough to do anything about now that it's said and done. A lot of things should've been looked at prior to release.

That’s just wordplay — you first said DBD is closer to PvE, and then backed off by calling it “in the realm of it.” The meaning doesn’t really change, it just looks like you’re dodging your own statement.

And here is another of your message - I said about reverting because it's a bugfix patch. If it's a word “change” there, how it cancel the fact that it’s a bug fix patch that usually means reverting or fixing mistakes? I don't see anything in your comments addressed to me other than an attempt to start a discussion out of nothing. Like you really want to continue this?

Oh. Why didn't you just say that to begin with?

You can call it semantics or splitting hairs. I won't stop you. But both statements are true. "In the realm of PVE" means it's adjacent to it, but naturally it can't be PVE because two sides queue up for it. I think I brought up RE6 and L4D2 in that same thread as being other PVE-adjacent titles. That means that one side are treated like the PCs and the other side are treated like the NPCs.

With the patch, it's true. They never said they were reverting it as far as I can tell. You can assume that's what they mean, but we also know BHVR and it's not always a safe bet to do that.

  • This happens whenever they change the maps, like when they first implemented 2v8. The new tiles are messing things up.

  • Not only does it feel incredibly oppressive, it's a totally one-sided system. It's all we're getting in 2025, the year of health.

  • @BorisDDAA said:

Survivor mains are masochists because as much as they complain, they still play solo queue daily.

I wouldn't disagree but I'd call it resilience instead. For the past 3 years, BHVR has stress tested Survivor to see what they're willing to take and it's taken that long for them to realize that they'll take just about anything. Having a devoted player base should be a good thing, but in this scenario it's more like putty that can be manipulated. Kind of shiddy behavior for a company that prides itself on being so kind and forward-thinking. In my opinion.

  • Trickster and Skull Merchant. They're too "corny" for me.

I'm still waiting on another black male survivor. Though I'm not sure there will be much left of this game by the time that happens.

That's why I was a little shocked to see it get deleted. I don't see what the issue is asking for character diversity. Is that somehow hateful?

I’m asking again - what’s the point of your comment? U think instead of reverting they will change OTR again?

Or it was simple cling to a phrase even if the essence of it doesn't change?

I said what because of this

What the point of your message? Last time u made a weird note about PvE and took it back in a manner “I didn't tell anything”, now u catching up to the phrase. Not really nice behaviour

I have no idea what you're talking about.

  • I've lurked for years and it seems a little better than it used to be. Though I'm not a fan of how things operate at times.

I'm not trying to start anything by saying this, but I did notice a thread disappear very quickly recently asking for BHVR to consider making a new original Survivor that's male since we haven't had one for a while meanwhile there's a thread with a headless man that's still on the front page.

I'm just saying, priorities still seem all over the place and that tends to make people walk on eggshells.

Dude, exactly. Thats why I keep bringing up external validation to these guys. They really need to experience satisfaction in real life so they dont take out their dissatisfaction on people just tryin to have a decent time.

Personally if you live near water….try surfing. even if you cant stand up on the board swimming out there alone and chillin on the board is a different kind of peace i wish more ppl could experience. So much more to life than being really really good at a video game. Theyre meant to be enjoyed…not be your purpose of living lol.

To be fair, I think a lot of it is trickle down. The way DBD is handled, in my opinion, is like a mirror. The community is the way that it is primarily because the inverse is the way that it is.

Even outside of this community everyone could practice some CBT. Though hyper-competitive "win at all cost" "I'm nothing without a victory screen" players need it way more than the average joe.

You're right that a lot of us are prone to forming bad relationships…so many are attached to this game and are attached to toxic behavior lol.

For sure. I try to have everything else in my life in order so that DBD can be one of the very few negative things I keep around. 😝

You know what gets me about you pro-tunnelers? You argue as if tunneling is the only way to win, as if the only way to enjoy the game is by forcing a victory.

I’ve been playing since 2016/2017, almost entirely as killer, racking up around 3 to 3.5k hours before even touching survivor. And in all that time, not once have I tunneled. Not once have I camped. And guess what? I’ve still won the vast majority of my games.

Tunneling is not a fundamental. It is a shortcut. A crutch for players who lack the skill, patience, or creativity to win otherwise. You frame it like it is some essential mechanic, but really it is selfishness disguised as strategy.

Think about it. In any community, certain behaviors are called out because they drag down the experience for everyone else. Cutting in line at a grocery store is not illegal, but most people avoid doing it even though it is technically “optimal.” Why? Because it is bad behavior. Because it poisons the environment for everyone.

That is exactly what tunneling does in Dead by Daylight. It does not just create frustration; it breeds toxicity. It is the embodiment of toxicity in this game. And if your default playstyle regularly causes anger and resentment, that should be a sign you are contributing to the problem.

And no, survivors are not mad simply because they lose. This game is designed so survivors lose often. They are mad because tunneling strips away mutual enjoyment, which is the core of multiplayer gaming. You can win without tunneling. You can win while still allowing everyone to feel like they played. That is sportsmanship 101, something most of us are taught in kindergarten: winning is not everything.

    So tunnelers have a choice:

    A) Win at the cost of the community, feeding only your own shallow dopamine hit.

    B) Still win, but in a way that supports mutual enjoyment and strengthens the community.

If you choose A, then either you are extremely selfish or you have tied your self-worth to constant dopamine from winning. In that case, therapy can help. Cognitive behavioral therapy in particular is a good start because it challenges the belief that losing means you are worthless. There are healthier ways to build self-esteem: creating art, hiking, exercising, or finding non-competitive skills and hobbies that reward progress rather than constant victory.

And this is not just opinion. A growing body of research links hyper-competitiveness with worse mental health, poorer relationships, and more toxic communities. One peer-reviewed study by Beres et al. (2021), titled “Don’t You Know That You’re Toxic: Normalization of Toxicity in Online Gaming”, shows a clear connection between competitive gamers, moral disengagement, and antisocial behavior. The study found that players with these traits are far more likely to justify or rationalize toxic playstyles.

The purpose of video games is to have fun. Tunneling eliminates that possibility for everyone except the one selfish player who does it. And in real life, when someone only ever looks out for their own benefit, they usually are not very well liked or tolerated.

”the same can be said for other strategies”….those don’t nearly cause as much resentment and hate as tunneling. 🙄

I admit I chuckled, but unironically it's not a bad point that DBD players could benefit from CBT. I'm sure a lot of us are prone to forming bad relationships with people or things. It's definitely not healthy to stick around where you're miserable.

I’m pretty sure changes in Bugfix patches means fixing what they’ve done when it went wrong. Not completely changing perk and giving it third look, because it's bugfix patch.

They also said before that every perk that was changed regard “anti system” will be cancelled, but they forgot about tenacity and off the record. So clearly, it was a mistake. They simply forgot about them

I don't know how you can enjoy 2v8 for more than a few days when it's just legion, wesker, oni simulator and getting double teammed.

I was gonna say this. The first couple iterations of 2v8 felt fun and balanced, but now it's as predictable and boring as 1v4. Boring Killer combos, unchecked camping and tunneling, weak comebacks, etc. I easily had an escape rate in the 50s when it started, but it dropped to 21% or so this last iteration if I recall. Absolutely miserable.

The only thing I notice is that a majority of survivors just stopped wanting to learn how to loop. It is not just a fatigue to the system, I can tell by the way they run the loops (wrong), then they get hit and then they go afk/dc. Whether you play nurse or trapper does not matter, they will dc cause for some reason they feel wronged.

Looping is a dead art form at this point. Even when I joined in 2019, they were starting to phase it out. You can't expect to have a barrage of anti-chase Killers, in addition to basekit anti-chase, on increasingly weaker maps and see chase improve. Stealth was a good way to shift the focus there until that was nerfed as well via Distortion becoming a chase perk and Killer aura getting buffed. You're asking for players to devote their time to something unnatural and saying it's their fault if they don't adapt properly.

Yeah I've been wallowing in white, beige, and gray for too long as a renter but now I have a house and the neutrals gotta go.

I'm hoping to make it really accurate. I've got some fake candles in different heights that can change colors. Got the skulls, but I need a dremel to cut them properly. I need three good sticks. Somehow "sticks" is the hardest item on the list.

    I hear you there. It's a nightmare. A greige nightmare. 😭

Amazon is constantly having sales on tools. Add them to your cart and save for later and you'll get periodic updates on price fluctuations. Always Harbor Freight too, if there's one near you. The sticks you have to find yourself most likely. If you're around any nature at all, a good hike should yield some. Then you just have to sanitize them to make sure there's no bugs to sabotage it down the line. And hopefully avoid any Karens that wanna yell at you for taking the sticks out of nature. 😵

  • I'm going to be honest. At this point, it comes across incredibly manipulative to push this mindset. Players know that they're fatigued and have known for years now. They know the game feels hopeless and they have an unhealthy relationship with it. But there's very little effort to improve the experience. Instead, they're led to believe that it's their fault and they're given punishments that pile onto that fatigue instead, or more plainly told to leave the game altogether.

It's like this constant game to twist reality in order to pile everything on their doorstep.

Yeah. I like darks and mids. I'm hopng to do the whole house like that eventaully. Maroon, navy, mustard, plum, etc. Unfortunately everything but the library is still the default gray because paint is expensive and I'm also lazy.

My next smaller project is actually to make a DbD totem mood lamp now that the plastic skulls are back out for Halloween. I haven't found any good bones for the base yet though.

I love that. I wanted to do navy and forest green but I'm moving in the next few years so I decided against it.

It's an approachable project for sure. You can do it any sort of way at any skill level. It might be fun to attach it to an existing lamp base.

I dont have an issue with the change itself, necessarily. More so the timing.

This makes opportunistic tunneling much easier, but it's really putting this in with an update that was supposed to be anti-tunnel but ended up being super-tunnel. Every Killer QoL went through, none of the Survivor stuff did.

Hopefully the Halloween event is lit because I'm not motivated to play until then.

That one was bizarre... the justification was such a niche scenario that required so many things to go right to occur that it was kind of a throw to take both perks for...

The fact slugging for the 4k prevented it as well? Change made no sense... could have been any effect, like off the top of my head, if you want to prevent ratting, why not have it be one of solutions like:

    • 15% at base and gain an additional 15% for each hook stage you have? That would be a decent perk, and reward you for taking chase.
    • 10% at base and an additional 5% per stack up to a max of 6 stacks (40%) for every other Survivor you unhook/heal a health state? That would encourage you to be altruistic and help your team mates.
    • 10% at base and an additional 10% for taking protection hits, which would then synergise with Pharmacy and again, encourage trying to help your teammates.

These would be diametrically opposed to the plan of Sole Survivor, and that's what Wake Up is meant to be, the altruistic gate open perk. Any of these realise the character of Quentin so much better.

It's the same thing for Tenacity, it need to keep it's identity... Tapp with a bleeding neck dragged himself out of that warehouse to save his life and keep the hunt for Jigsaw alive. Being able to recover while crawling is such a fitting feature for his perk... and it's not unfair at all...

Why can't we have nice things man? 😮‍💨

Here's at least to hoping the reason the nerf came around this time manifests and isn't shelved forever.

  • @XDgamer018 said:

issue with soloQ is how do you buff it without buffing SWF in the process (same could be said for blight/nurse etc and i personnaly have 0 clue as to why those havent been nerfed yet in like 9 years now?) @brewingtea

Better matchmaking and comms. Both of which are not on the menu.

  • I actually agree.

I think auto-recovery is much in the same ballpark as removing protection hits off of hook. There are times where the proper play is to limit how quickly you recover and when, just as there are times where you want to take a hit right off of hook. The idea that you would only do that to screw over your team or to bully Killer is more of the same BS we get every time that player agency is limited. And beyond that, what is preventing me from going AFK the second I'm downed? The game plays itself between the end of a chase and being unhooked now.

Granted, I'm sure we'll all get used to it as we always seem to. But I don't think it's a good change either.

  • @UndeddJester said:

Tenacity was my favourite perk... the recovery while crawling effect was the best part of it, and a great discourager to slugging, because you could reliably lose the killer if they insisted on slugging. I actually rate it better than Unbreakable because unlike UB, Tenacity is always available when you need it, as many times as you need it, and you can make it much less dangerous for a teammate to help you.... it was a healthy perk because it was entirely down to the killer if they wanted to leave you slugged.

It wasn't even meta, just a clever effect you could slot into specific builds. I ran it with Plot Twist, and used it to heal while on the move to objectives, and had several clever builds with things like FTP or Deliverance to begin healing progress while broken. It also allowed you to heal at end game to head to gate, or even force a pick up.

This combo had so many unique and clever use cases, and was genuinely innovative and fun to build around... please bring it back. 🥺🥺🥺

Me with Wake Up. They really love targeting these off-meta perks that aren't bothering anybody.

  • @solidgamer44 said:

Ngl I can't tell anymore if its incompetence or actually a sneaky deceptive way to get these changes in to nerf survivors, at this point it's exactly like the mori situation where they were gonna make something like a baseline unbreakable for the longest time along with the mori change but we still haven't gotten anything like that.

Crazy how these things happen over and over again, it's not just this but other things too.

It's always the same excuse. That something was broken and had to be reverted so let's never try again. At least with something like the Twins, there's not a lot they can do. But with basekit mechanics that reduce the most miserable parts of the trial that the majority of players face? To the point where they're queueing up less over time?

I still want to believe that anti-tunnel/slug will come back off the shelf, but this patch was a really lousy way to inspire hope there.

  • I logged on to get my weekly reward, took a peek at the new challenges (not a fan), and logged out. After seeing what people have to say about her, I'm not interested in playing until the hype dies down a bit. I'm likely not clearing the Rift anyway, so no reason to grind it out.

  • I'm actually all for the hook markers. I think that was a good change. Some of the Survivor perk changes weren't bad either.

BUT this is a really bad patch to put out after shelving anti-tunnel/slug. Dare I say, 2025 has not been a very good year for the game despite it being touted as the year of health.

  • I think it has to do with their model. It seems to be the trend to release new Killers in broken states and then nerf them once time has passed. Very blatant and not cool, but I'm not sure we're going to see that change any time soon.

  • I'm still waiting on Baemar's latest outfit to not be for Aestri. I doubt this will get fixed any time soon, unfortunately.

M1 killers are like the "solo queue" of the killer roster. Way weaker than normal.

The difference is that, if a change affects actual solo queue in a negative way, no one cares.

If an M1 killer stands to get nerfed, they cancel an entire PTB's worth of changes. Or they just buff all killers to compensate. (e.g. making maps smaller)

And even then, statistically, the weakest M1 Killers seem to do about as well as the most coordinated Survivors overall.

  • My first thought was that it was ugly. Just my opinion, as usual. But it's unpleasant to look at. And not in a scary, tense way.

  • No Mither besties. 🤩 I second this as well. There's no reason to give us nerfs from a system that was shelved.

  • I don't think that's a recent problem. The most popular perks are still from the first half of the game's lifespan.

  • More likely a Hinako cosplay for Feng. 😵

Even worse, you can no longer recover while using Tenacity and moving at ALL. Because that was going to be basekit, they removed it from the perk, but because the basekit change didn't happen, now you can't even recover while moving ONLY 25% FASTER. They gutted it into the ground because the changed it anticipating anti-slug changes they refused to implement.

Oof, that's terrible. Not sure how I feel about the auto-recover either. It seems to be taking engagement out of the trial and encouraging AFKing.

  • I love No Mither but it is a niche perk. It was better when stealth was viable, but I still enjoy it. I'm glad they finally made grunts of pain silent. That's been long overdue. They need to address it being a battery for certain Killer powers, but good luck arguing that. It always gets shut down.

  • I don't know how to feel about the Tenacity change. Blocking aura is a good change, but I'm not sure that the crawling speed needed to change to compensate. You're generally not down for that long and if you are, you should be able to punish Killer for leaving you there.

The change to Deerstalker makes Strength In Shadows less appealing.
