I mean, I don't get offended by crap, but sites have rules you need to follow. If you want to post images like what I've been told, go to 4Chan, Reddit or Twitter or something.

Vulgar, disrespectful, racist, pop corn and gore. Images and Text alike. Truly disappointing that people like this exist.

Bro. I thought this was a game forum, not 4Chan.

  • The entirety of maps in general new to be reworked. Maps should be bigger, more diverse, with unique mechanics each map. Sure, it'd take a while to do, but maps should actually be fair for both sides, and currently they're not. Some are heavily Killer sided while others punish you if you're not playing the right Killer.

Easier than Survivor? By what metric? 70% of Survivor gameplay is literally just running from Point A to Point B or holding M1. You can be terrible at running the Killer or countering their power and still win pretty regularly as Survivor- I do it all the time.

You have no such luxury as Killer. Your objective isn't an inanimate object on the map that you hold M1 at- your objectives will actively run away from you and drop pallets on your head. If you can't win chases, you'll invariably lose badly.

Yes, the Survivor's gameplay is severely limited and simple, but it's not like it's easier than Killer because of that. There are plenty of builds that Killers can use that make playing Survivor a nightmare, plus various Killers whose base kit alone make it simply too easy for them. Yes, on the weaker Killers you have to work more, and maybe it's just a matter of skill, but I've never had trouble as Killer. My kill rate, at least according to their stat website, is 65%, and that's without running meta builds or even using add-ons. Again, I get this may just be a simple difference in skill, but Killer is simply too easy.

I get it, I just haven't experienced it despite hearing about it a lot, and I play just about everyday, somewhere between 5pm and 5am. My survivor matches tend to take longer to queue up. Maybe it's my region's server idk.

That's fair. I normally play during peak hours when I play Killer (I'm usually doing other things at night, like the current patch of HSR, for example), so I experience it quite often. The shortest amount of time I've found a match was 5 minutes, while the longest was about 10 minutes - to be honest, I thought my wifi had crapped out or something and it hadn't told me when that happened.

  • @cogsturning said:

People say this about the queue times, but the killler queues in my time zone at night are instant. There's often a bonus on killler. That's when all the friends are partying up. It's the ability to play with friends that's keeping the role alive. If something bugged out with he partying system and no one could join together the game would then collapse. I don't see there being enough people willing to endure soloq to keep it afloat.

If, during peak hours for the game, the queue times for Killers are horrid, then that means there are not enough Survivors playing versus the number of Killers playing. In all dying games stuff like this fluctuates - it's why we're talking about the peak hours, when the majority of players are playing, when we bring up queue times. Queue times during this point are the biggest indicator of how well or poorly a game is performing - the fact there are so few Survivors who even want to play during peak hours is a problem that should actually be taken seriously.

So? They are both a symptom of the same problem. Not testing enough and not listening to the playtesters who they did have.

The stuff that benefitted the Survivors were bugs that were almost immediately fixed. The needless nerfs Survivors got this patch and every other patch were intentional.

And you know what, let's talk about bugs, shall we? When Springtrap had a bug that made him invisible when he exited his doors, BHVR dragged their feet - this was after quickly fixing Streetwise. The difference? One benefitted Killers and the other benefitted Survivors.

  • Who said we were okay with this? There's literally nothing we can do apart from not playing, and even that isn't working. You'd think the insane queue time for Killers, which is caused the decreasingly smaller Survivor pool, would be a wake up call, but it isn't. BHVR continues to ignore Survivor feedback and only want to make Killers happy.

  • I think, thanks to this patch, I can confidently say that BHVR has earned the title of worst developers in the industry - and yes, I'm including Ubisoft, EA and Nintendo.

  • Forums reflect the state of the game - if the forums are too negative, it's because the developer, in this case BHVR, has been making horrible decisions time and time again, far too often.

  • Because they don't care about Survivors. They nerfed the one anti-tunneling perk and removed the anti-tunneling and anti-slugging feature they were adding that actually made the game fair - why not let the Killer who can already easily tunnel have an easier time tunneling? They've already made it clear they don't care.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4007112#Comment_4007112

Its because a lot of the survivors have the mentality that if they dont win, the whole game was unfun (even tho it happned in the past at the point they die) but if they win, the game was fun.

I dont need to win to have fun, but if i had fun i do consider it a win, i dont care if i die.

And wow, 11 down votes for saying im having fun 😂😂😂

I don't care about winning - I've had plenty of games where I got stomped that were extremely fun. For example, before the Myers reworked, I had a match with a Myers who ran a stealth build - that match was so scary that, even though I lost, I had the time of my life facing a biblically accurate Michael Myers. What I care about is having fun. The more you punish a role for simply existing, the less fun you make it. The less fair you make your game, the less fun you make it. This is not a difficult concept, in fact it's PvP 101.

  • Lampkin Lane. A map that small has no place in this game - it gives an unfair advantage to the Killers, who don't need anymore advantages than BHVR already gives them. It's a BS map that either needs to be removed or reworked to be bigger so that it's actually fair.

  • What was on the PTB wasn't even bad, especially the anti-slugging mechanic. BHVR just folded, again, to the Killers because they don't give two craps about Survivors.

  • The developers are incompetent , that's why nothing is being done. Cheating happens in every online game, but usually some system is put in place, whether reports are happening or not. Any competent team looks at their forums, looks at social media, keeps an eye on content creators, etc. to know when problems occur, like cheaters or bugs, even without them being reported. Can't catch everyone, obviously, but cheating is an issue most teams can handle just fine, even if you can't fully eradicate it.

BHVR though? They haven't even tried - heck, they even allow mods to be use, it's why you saw some Killer complaining about "visibility issues" with the item that was meant to make it hard to see, it's because the Fog Vials clashed with their mods. Instead of punishing those players, they nerfed the Fog Vials into uselessness.

It's time the player base accepted that BHVR has a horrible development team.

  • Why would you be surprised? You're playing one of the more OP Killers in the game. No one wants to face a Killer that'll make it impossible to actually play the whole time. Sure, they shouldn't be DCing in the first place, should also give the match a try at least, but it's not surprising, and frankly expected, to see it happen.

You can get 3 and 4ks with any killer in the game. It speaks nothing about their actual strength.

It actually does when you're buns with the character. I'm man enough to say I cannot use the character effectively, yet I get 3 - 4ks consistently. Can't do that on a weak Killer you're bad with.

First, Skull Merchant is fine, you people just hate having to try.

    She isn't fine, my friend.

While it is possible to win with her, her unnecessary nerfs really hurt her.

She is fine - I'm probably one of the worst Skull Merchants around I do just fine with her. Mind you, despite not really knowing how to use her, I get 3 - 4ks pretty consistently with her. She's not weak, you just need to try.

If they're priorities were killer I'm sure we wouldn't have skull merchant in their current state, and as for the survivor experience not being valued well isn't there going to be some big survivor quality of life changes coming soon?

First, Skull Merchant is fine, you people just hate having to try. Second, the first "QOL Change" they did were the Fog Vials, and thanks to Killer mains complaining they've nerfed it into being useless. They don't care about the Survivor role, and no amount of people like you crotch riding the devs will change reality.

  • They clearly don't. Or at least, they don't play Survivor, cause if they did they wouldn't be screwing the role over every bloody patch.

  • The worst part? They show the prison on the loading screen, so they could've and should've just done the prison. Would it have been a pain in the backside due to likely being a hybrid of both in-doors and outside? Yes, but at least it would've been something.

  • Currently my main is Springtrap. I think the only thing I'd change is his doors - I kinda want that office space to not just be a nice little easter egg, but a pocket dimension like that one event. Make it a little bigger, have it resemble the FNAF 3 office since, well, Springtrap was from that game, and you could make some unique chase circumstances regardless of the map you're on. Plus, it'd give Survivors more of a reason to even want to go in there.

No, it’s not somebody else’s fault. It is possible to voice your opinion without constantly blaming “killer mains” in every post or claiming (without evidence) that BHVR has some kind of nefarious agenda against survivor players that make up a vast majority of its player base.

Almost everyone else here has been capable of voicing their opinions and providing feedback without resorting to “us vs them”.

The evidence is right in front of your face. Every patch negatively impacts Survivors. The whole design of the game is against Survivors. Whether intended or not, how BHVR has balanced the game paints a specific picture.

The recent Fog Vial BS is the perfect example - after years of having to deal with the same old, stale gameplay loop, Survivors finally receive something new, only for BHVR to heavily nerf it due to complaints from a vocal minority of Killer mains.

Their speed on fixing things that affect Survivors is vastly different to their speed on fixing things that negatively affect Killers. Springtrap's bug went ignored for almost a month while Streetwise was fixed within a week.

They took Killer mains' complaints of "gen rushing" seriously and did an actually decent fix for it by making Survivors spawn together, while all of their "fixes" for toxic strategies that Killers can do have been placebos.

When they rebalance a map, they don't do it with Survivor's in mind - just look at Lampkin Lane, which they turned into the worst map in the game.

The amount of viable perks Survivors have is far smaller than the amount of viable perks Killers have.

The amount of viable add-ons Survivors have is far smaller than the amount of viable add-ons each Killer has.

Survivor's bloodwebs are cluttered with useless items like the map, key and now fog vials, while Killer bloodwebs only have a small amount of useless clutter.

You can deny it all you want, but the evidence is clear - whether they do or not, BHVR has made it abundantly clear they don't care about Survivors. Now, that's not the Killer mains' faults - but when you're the people benefitting from the developers' bias, you're going to receive part of the blame. Whether that's fair or not is up to you, but that's the truth. Arguing would still exist on these forums regardless, but if BHVR was actually competent, that arguing would just be mindless drivel. But because they're incompetent, they've, no matter how unintended it may be, added fuel to the fire far too many times.

  • My best guess? Either she ticked them off or they decided to give you a kill as thanks for not taking the match that seriously. I know I've offered myself up when the Killer is being nice, so I wouldn't be surprised if you faced some SWFs who decided to give you a thank you gift. Or they were a-holes, who knows?

  • If they keep going the way they are they won't even get close to 100 characters each because the game will be dead. I don't want it to happen, but BHVR hasn't shown a willingness to listen to both sides of the aisle and, whether intended or not, has shown they only care about one side. This has caused the Survivor playerbase to dwindle as more and more players just quit the game due to how insufferable and downright unfun it is to play the role - that's not on the Killers, either, it's squarely on BHVR.

After all, Killers have the right to complain, too, that's not the issue. The issue is that BHVR only listens to those complaints, even when those complaints shouldn't be acted upon (cough Fog Vials cough). Now, not every Survivor complaint should be acted upon - both sides of the isle have stupid complaints.

However, to actually balance this, or any other PVP game, you need to listen to all, not just a few. What BHVR has done is show clear bias, even if not intended - just look at all the issues over the years that they've prioritized or just haven't touched, you'll notice a good chunk of the ones they haven't touched are issues that make playing Survivor unfun.

Until they correct themselves, they have no chance of reaching 100 characters each. At this pace, I give them 5 more years, and that's being generous.

  • It's BHVR's fault. If they had more balanced patches that didn't actively screw over Survivors EVERY time, then there wouldn't be as much "us vs. them" arguments. They'd still exist, but wouldn't be as prevalent, because right now it's true, even if BHVR doesn't want it to be. This may be an unpopular fact of life, and I know the downvotes I'm going to get, but that doesn't change anything - BHVR's decision making has been disproportionally anti-Survivor, with the recent inclusion and then hard nerfing of Fog Vials just because a few Killers found them annoying. It's not fun to play Survivor right now, whether you win or lose, and the only people to blame is BHVR. Complacency and burying criticism won't change that.

  • They should just remove them or actually make them useable. Honestly, what they did to Fog Vials is the final straw for me - I already thought they didn't care about the Survivor role, but this was just blatant proof. Bloody Blizzard doesn't even treat their playerbase this badly, and those devs suck.

Then you are at low mmr or just get weaker match ups.

When I play surv and I get a soloq lobby with competent teammates most killers who are not nurse, blight or ghoul just DC after the first 3 gens are done with no pressure.

My MMR is average, so I'm facing average players… at least until I escape a few times in a row. But I'm usually in the middle. Just because people are higher MMRs, who always play meta crap, only play a few Killers doesn't mean it's because every other Killer is bad or that Survivors are good - it's because those Killers are still meta because of how broken they are.

  • @Ragna_Rock said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3980421#Comment_3980421

No that would just get people to stop playing the game.

People are playing killers like nurse, ghoul or blight because their fast abilities allow them to keep up with the current fast paced state of the game. Other killers especially more macro intensive killers just cant keep up.

They're playing them because those Killers are broken and are free wins. I've seen plenty of other Killers who perform just fine but don't have high mobility.

  • They'll never do it, but they should add a block button - not like a "refuse any Killer I hate" button, but rather a "choose not to face these three Killers for, like, a week or month or whatever" button.

It'd allow Survivors to face more than just meta Killers, and would tell BHVR who needs to be nerfed based on how often people refuse to face them.

  • You mean the items no one uses cause they're still useless? Ever since the Hatch change years ago that made it to where the Hatch only spawns when it's down to the last Survivor (which frankly needs to change - it either needs to spawn the moment it's down to the last Survivor instead of waiting until the animation is complete or it needs to spawn when there's two Survivors left, since 2v1 is typically unwinnable in most scenarios), neither the keys nor the maps have had any point to them. They should just be removed and replaced with items that Survivors can actually use.

Not like that'll happen, though, BHVR doesn't care about the Survivor role, so they'd just do what they've done to the Fog Vial and nerfed whatever they give Survivors into the ground just because Killers complain about the item.

  • It's the same reason nothing that Survivors have is good - it's because BHVR doesn't care about the Survivor role. Wiggling is meant to force Killers to hook Survivors - yet they can still take you across the map without the bar filling up. It's one of the various "features" that exist so that BHVR can pretend they care. Frankly, they should've just made a PvE.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/453420/fog-vial-first-survivor-item-in-years

Ok - as long as you’re out, can you also stop with the endless “us vs them” forum posts?

What’s your escape rate, by the way? Wondering what it would need to be to make you happy.

At this point it is an "us vs. them" thing because BHVR has made it so. They never do anything to deal with the issues Survivors have with the game but immediately jump on crap Killer mains complain about.

Springtrap can go invisible, giving him an unfair advantage? Took weeks before they fixed it.

Streetwise became broken and gave Survivors an unfair advantage? Fixed within a week.

Killers release who are broken or overpowered? Rarely if ever touched.

A new Survivor item is added with one of the goals being to combat tunneling, an issue that has persisted since the game released? Nerfed to the point they might as well remove it after just a week.

Killers complain about gen rushing? Survivors now spawn next to each other while they have not removed the chance of Killers spawning right next to them.

Survivors still have issues with camping, slugging and tunneling? No real solutions, just placebos that don't fix or deter anything.

Killers receive new game mechanics each time a new Killer releases while Survivors get skins and maybe a decent perk whenever a new Survivor releases.

Maps are changed to aid Killers - Lampkin Lane, for example, was made incompetently too small because Killers complained about Survivors looping them on it. But any map that heavily benefits the Killer, like maps where doors spawn next to each other? Those are never touched.

If BHVR didn't want a "us vs. them" to be occurring in the fandom, they wouldn't just balance the game around holding Killer's hands. Blame them for this toxicity, because their incompetency is what's causing it. If they just bloody listen to both sides, instead of just Killers, maybe the game would actually be in a good place right now, but they've made it clear that ain't gonna happen. So enjoy your 10 minute queue times, because all your complacency and BHVR's incompetency is going to do is continue to drive Survivors away from the game until it's dead.

EDIT: Oh, and stop this condescending "wHaT's YoUr EsCaPe RaTe" crap you pull every time I see one of your comments. No one cares about escaping - the Survivor experience, heck the Killer experience, is more than just escape rates and kill rates. Defeat can be just as fun as winning so long as the game is balanced right, but even winning feels horrible because BHVR is too incompetent to do anything about it. Winning shouldn't feel like a chore and defeat shouldn't feel like it's inevitable.

Depends what killer and addon your asking for to be nerfed

Pick one. How about one of the 65 aura reading perks? Or perhaps one of the 39 generator related perks? Or, how about Killers like Kaneki who have too much mobility? Or perhaps any of the Killers who have one-hit downs? And just pick an add-on, several give Killers too much of an unfair advantage that none of the Survivor add-ons even come close to giving.

  • @UsherGod said:

Playing high tier killers or above isn't what I'm talking about, read my post. Yes, obvious Nurse and Blight dont care about medkits

I wasn't talking about high tier Killers either - there are plenty of perks, add-ons and base kit Killer powers that make medkits pointless. High mobility Killers like Blight, Hillbilly, Legion or Kaneki make it nearly impossible to even heal in the first place. Killers like Legion can put Survivors in a state where they need to mend. Killers like Leatherface have one-hit downs that last long enough to down all four Survivors if they're in close proximity to each other. Pinhead is another Killer who makes healing difficult because of his chains.

Perks like Nurse's Calling make healing a calculated risk. No Quarter makes healing even more difficult with continuous skill checks that can put Survivors into the Broken state. Septic Touch makes Survivors blind and exhausted. Leverage reduces healing speed. Those are just the perks directly linked to healing - there are plenty of perks and perk combinations not related to healing that make the concept of healing pointless because of how easy it is for Killers to find you.

Medkits are not and never have been the problem you people are making them out to be. Heck, not even toolboxes are as powerful as you people think they are. Survivors have nothing even remotely good, they only have things that slightly lessen the burden of BHVR horrible decision making.

  • @TheGoone said:

They have to be nerfed simple as that especially Syringe

I take it you don't hold this same opinion for the exorbitant amount of overpowered Killer perks or add-ons? Yes, let's just take away everything that can even remotely make it fair for the Survivors, that'll make people want to play the role and reduce the queue time for Killers.

  • You point wasn't proven. The only way the Fog Vial is a viable option is if it has unlimited uses. You want to balance it? Make the recharge time take longer than a minute. It's intended to counter tunneling, which only works if it can be used all match. Not that it matters anymore anyways - you Killer mains cried to papa BHVR nerfed one of the only good things they've done for Survivors in years.

  • @CompetitifDBD said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/453325/the-fog-vile-nerf-perfect-example-why-we-shouldnt-allow-any-mods-on-this-game

I agree fully. Though the item should have limited charges, its not fair to hide yourself for so long infinitely with only a minute cooldown on average.

If you gave it charges then it defeats the purpose of the item. It's meant to aid in combating tunneling. Giving it limited uses would be the same as the other things that Survivors have that "combat toxic strategies" that only work once - it's not a solution if you can't use it all match. Decent Killers were already finding ways around and adapting to the Fog Vials, the fact it only had a cooldown wasn't a problem. The only people who see it as a problem, or complained about Fog Vials in general, either refused to adapt, or were actively cheating with mods.

  • @Brimp said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3979676#Comment_3979676

OP? No. Just not. Any experienced player will tell you the same thing I said.

I'm a Clown main, yes he's OP - always has been. He's always been one of the hardest Killers to face - the only people who thought he was even remotely weak have either never faced him, or just suck with him.

  • Here's the thing - Tier lists don't mean anything. 9 times out of 10, they're not made based on overall statistics - they're made based on personal experience.

We can all agree that Nurse is a powerful Killer - but not when I play her, so I'd naturally put her lower on a tier list. That's how these tier lists are typically made. It doesn't matter the actual power of the Killer, or even how they feel from a Survivor's POV - rather they're made based on how good or bad that player is at that Killer.

If we made one based on statistics or from the Survivor's POV, I assure you Tier Lists would look vastly different.

EDIT: To give some examples, if I were to make a Tier List not based on personal preference, but rather my personal stats with them, my Tier List would look like this:

    my-image (2).png

But, if I were to do a Tier List from my POV as a Survivor, the Tier List would look like this:

    my-image (3).png

Notice how different these are? The POV between Killer mains and Survivors are typically different, and it usually comes down to personal preference and experience. However, using actual stats, you can start to see a clearer picture. I don't know if BHVR has made the overall Kill Rate of each Killer public (I doubt it), but if they ever did, I imagine the Tier List would look far different from how most players would rate them.

  • This idea that Clown needs to be "fixed" is stupid - he was always a broken character. He's always been OP. The only difference now is that, instead of using the purple bottles to hinder Survivors so you can catch up to them, you now use his other bottle to give yourself haste to catch up with them. It's the same concept - you're using his power to easily catch Survivors. He didn't all of sudden become strong, he was always strong.

I seriously don't get why Clown mains are complaining - he's still the overpowered, unfun to play against monster he's always been.

  • Frankly, you don't need to. This hysteria over a "healing meta" is just stupid - Survivors have always been able to heal. The reason you're seeing more people healing is because of how often Survivors can't even touch a generator because of the insane amount of Killer perks that prevent Survivors from playing. There are plenty of perks and Killer powers that even make healing a pointless endeavor too.

  • They should just remove it. It's clear what they tried to do, they tried to offer an item that could help counter tunneling, even if it was only slightly - but then BHVR did what they always do: Cave to that vocal minority who refuse to adapt, while yelling about people needing to adapt to new Killers. That vocal minority is going to be the death of this game, and yet BHVR just continues to listen to them. It's truly a shame.

  • @Skillfulstone said:

If the Killer is Undetectable for any reason (perk, add-on, power like the entirety of Nightfall or when Dredge is in a locker) then aura-reading doesn't work.

It's why Ghosty and Scratched Mirror Myers (before map offerings were gutted) can avoid having their aura read mid-chase or after a hook (Undetectable perks hard-counter Kindred for example)

Since Dredge spends much of the match Undetectable even without perks or add-ons, he's not the easiest Killer to use aura-reading on.

Ah, that makes sense. We were just confused since it worked on the last several Dredge's we've faced.

  • Oh no, Survivors have a good perk, I wonder which of the various OP Killer perks and add-ons you could use to counter it? In all seriousness, this is why the game keeps losing players - the moment Survivors get anything they can use, people like you demand it gets nerfed. This happens every time. The Fog Vials, which was already 50/50 on if it'd even work because it was not that hard to track people in it, were just nerfed into the ground because bad players complained. Now you people want something that isn't even that powerful nerfed because you struggle against it.

  • The issue in this case is how horrible matchmaking is. You escape one trial and all of sudden you're placed against a Killer who thinks this game is competitive. Now, they have every right to play like that, but they should only be matched with people who play like that. Who knows, maybe it's time to make a competitive mode - granted, the Survivor playerbase is already shrinking due to the horrible decisions BHVR has been making, so that'd just make life harder for everyone.

  • Well, they're definitely weak now with the nerf. We finally had a step in the right direction to finally make the game even remotely fair, and now BHVR is backtracking and making that item, which was clearly intended to aid in combating tunneling, impossible to perform its primary job. What's even worse, the add-ons already didn't really help the Fog Vials, now it makes even less sense to use them.

I just want to know why the developers hate Survivors so much. It's like all of their decisions are made to specifically ruin any chance of anyone wanting to play Survivor. Makes you wonder why they even bother keeping the mode around instead of just making this a PvE game - cause it's clear they want you to only play Killer.

  • If you want me to be honest, the Fog Vials have already kinda stopped be all that useful. While I managed to save myself and a few others for the first few days, now it's clear that Killers have largely learned how to get past it.

  • If you wish for me to be honest, these kinds of questions don't really help. Obviously, if you're unhappy with a game, the smart thing to do is to quit playing it - but here's the thing, if you stay content or leave, nothing will improve. I love DBD, but just because I love the aesthetic and the concept doesn't mean I am obligated to be okay with every decision BHVR makes. And my love for the game is why I stay.

I want DBD to be a fair, balanced, and all around fun game to play. I want both sides to have a fantastic time, win or lose. But right now, that's just not possible. You might see this and you might take that to mean I hate the game and that I should just quit - but you can only figure out problem areas by playing.

If one person quits, the developers won't bat an eye. If half of the player base left, that'd tell the developers something is wrong, but not what is specifically wrong. Only by staying can we, the players, tell BHVR what they're doing wrong and what they're doing right. Obviously, this doesn't mean BHVR will listen, but if you just give up and leave, the game will die faster than it should.

DBD still has plenty of life left in it, but that will drain fast if everyone who isn't have a fun time just quits. Doubly so if BHVR only listens to those who are content. Progress is only made through criticism.
