They are balancing the game. Balancing the game does not mean survivors only need nerfs and killers only need buffs.

When killers are significantly weaker than the other side that's exactly what it means.

When one side is lower you don't raise the other to become even higher. You level the field.

You bring one side down or keep it where it's at while only touching the other until they're even.

So if Survivors had all the advantages they currently do with the exception of Killers being able to clip through all solid objects Survivors would still need a nerf?

No?...Because clipping through everything would remove the survivors advantage...That'd be OP. Like Nurse.

    What about gen rushing?
    What about stuns?
    What about DS?
    SB?
    SC?
    SWF?

If you’re going to be straight about it, Survs still have an advantage, just not in chases. But how can Survs and Killers be on a level playing field if the balancing is centered around keeping a brokenly OP aspect of the “lesser” side?

You clearly haven't seen a solo queue'd game.

    Neither have you.

They have to do something, the player base dipped almost 10k a week after this patch, after having a large increase from the Clown patch, I'm not joking been checking it on steam.

That's worse than I thought it was, but I'm actually not surprised by that number. I know I uninstalled the game because after repeated nerfs & the tinkerer bug, I was frustrated and wanted to clear space on my HDD to play a new game. I haven't played it since shortly after the new patch came out.

I just check in here because I like to follow news on the game to see if they're improving it, which it seems like they are at least a bit, so.

So... are you saying you uninstalled the game after some minor nerfs that don´t affect most of the people?
    Have you considered playing killer?

Why even @RemoveSWF actually posted some good ideas once or twice. Yes that's shocking i know but if he can do it so can the idio% I responded to.

The game is easier than ever for solo survivors. When I started, I had no indicators that told me that NOED is active. Or that I'm within the range of UP. But now we've tons of indicators and warning signs that don't even require that I pay attention.

Do you really think that a secondary objective would be to much to handle for survivors?
Are you implying that survivor is brain dead easy, and that it should stay that way?

The game is for adults. Adults usually have a driving license. Driving requires to use hands and feet simultaneously.
Survivors will do just fine with a secondary or tertiary objective.

I'm saying adding a secondary objective will throw a wrench in all the work that has gone into the game thus far. It makes no sense to completely overhaul the most fundamental aspects of the game when there are better solutions. Obviously you didn't even read the OP where I offer an alternative solution that would achieve the same end result without creating a whole new mechanic for the game.

And I'm not talking about solo survivors, I'm talking about NEW survivors. Solo survivors will be negatively affected by any secondary objective as it just increases the gap between no comms and comms, but for NEW players this type of change would create more of an entry barrier to the game when it's already difficult enough to learn. If you don't think so then try to get in a game with rank >17 survivors and watch how they struggle to do even basic stuff because the way the core gameplay works is not actually that clear.

As far as your driving example, let me ask do you know how to drive manual? I do, and it's not at all intuitive or easy for beginners. Hence why automatic exists. It doesn't change how well someone can drive, it just makes it more accessible.

What you are asking for is to basically gut the game and create all new dynamics. That would require a lot of work to just bring everything up to date with that system. Perks, add-ons, items, they would all need to change. At this point it would be more cost effective for BHVR to just make DBD2.

Oh i read the whole post. But making gens take longer by slowing them down isn´t the solution. Gens are already boring af as of now. Making them even slower by your suggestion, would make people fall asleep mid game. Also your proposal would result complicated for new players which wouldn´t understand why their gen suddenly works slower.

We already have a tutorial. Just add the new objectives into the tutorial and new players learn it from scratch. Do you know Eve Online? THAT is a complicated game! With all the perks, loadouts, weapons, damage types, etc. But new people join every day.

Yes, i drive manual. The first time it´s hard. But thats what the driving school is for. After you learned it, it´s pretty much intuitive and you don´t even haven to think about how you have to hit 2 pedals, shift the gear at the same time while setting the blinker and moving the driving wheel.

The way you picture survivors, it makes them look like they are all dumb.
    They are not.

Bloodlust needs to go. It promotes bad killer plays and requires you to learn less. It's one of the reasons I stopped playing killers aside from killers FOV and flashlights white screen giving me migraines. I hated using BL and I would instantly lose it if I ever reached tier III, because it meant for that I did not play optimally.

Yes, maps need adjusting still and I can prolly live with BL staying until then, but once maps get balanced, it needs to go.

Also when you're hooked, you're not doing anything. It makes perfect sense exhaustion cooldown would go down when you're hooked.

I love you Luzi <3 You are my favourite mod

    Beware, she might disappoint you.

Survivor is a Chinese male with something that compensates the exhaustion nerf. Maybe a perk that lets you regenerate exhaustion while running.

I have no idea why they thought that was a good idea. You can't even reach 3 gens to kick them in 16 seconds.
    Hey that's my phrase...

I thought it was a typo. That they planned to do 160 seconds. Or it simply confirms that devs don't play their own game.

they removed 1-2 pallets on some maps and vastly increased them on other maps like sheltered woods. they also spread pallets out just far enough for survivors to always be able to reach them and also cover the entire map so there are zero pallet dead zones. that "nerf" was actually a huge buff.

they took away some specific double pallets and made NEW SPAWNS for the removed pallet but kept other double pallets because they are tied to a building and thus not randomly generated.

they took out a window from some of the jungle gyms but left the pallet and the long wall or pallet and the L window. still loopable, still no mind game.

all the infinites are still there, they just baby fixed them with the window blocker, you still get 3 loops from them that can lead into pallet looping, wasting countless amounts of the killers time and then right back in for another 3 loops. the barn can spawn with 2 windows and is still an infinite if it does. they did not fix or remove them

are you really going to include exploitable rocks or bushes that they could dead hard onto to be untouchable in your argument?

i think you need to change your profile pic to a claudette

    what other fixes?

Yet another whiny killer that looks for excuses and anything to nitpick about. Hey they removed some stuff lets whine about how they didn't make it impossible for survivors to escape. Why is it that most killers can do just fine when there's changes and they take advantage of them. Wheraa killers like you do nothing but complain.

No al the infinites aren't still there or have the last 2 years completely passed you by? All I see is a whiny killer that is probably not very good and instead of adapting or getting better just complains. There also isn't any double pallets where one is right next to the other. Macmillan Estates is a prime example of how they fixed it.

So they took some pallets out and spread some out in others places, well guess what buttercup you have options in how you chase. I hate to say it but @Lowbei is right. GIT GUD

Oh and btw I play Trapper as my main and I'm not on ehre whining about how unfair it is, I take swf and high ranked players as a challenge. I learn what works for them and what doesn't and that makes me a better players on both sides. The same is true as a survivor, if it works then I know how to counter it as killer.

Have you offered any constructive ideas with pro's and cons on how to fix things or as is more likely done nothing but whine about things? I've at least proposed ideas and solutions to both sides issues with pro's and cons for each idea.

The upcoming nerfs will hit killers hard. The BL nerf doesn't seem like much. But I guarantee you, that we get infinites back or at least pretty close. You can't mindgame , when there is no los blocker.
You'll see even more nurses than now. Kill rate will drop drastically in combination with the kindred buff. If every survivor sees where everyone is during a hook, then everyone will continue to do gens. Only the closest guy will leave the gen to unhook. This will make solo survivors as time efficient as swf. That's not a good thing in a game where the killer is under constant time pressure.

On a plus side, killers won't feel the need to dodge swf anymore. There won't be a difference between swf deathsquads and solo players.

And please, for the love of god. Stop telling us to git gud. Most of us are rank 1 killers and survivors.

    Just so you know.

DS can get screwed though - it's an awful perk.

After the BL nerf, DS should really get a buff. Survivors should be able to use it every [BAD WORD] time they get downed. When i loop a killer for 5 gens, i really deserve to get that free escape. After all, the killer lost the mindgame.

    YES, THIS IS SARCASM!

If you allow a survivor to loop you for all five gens you deserve to lose imo, I don’t like the bloodlust nerf because it helped with people who solely play on trolling the killer getting caught and loopers. I’d be willing to bet after this next chapter they add another objective for survivors to escape and slightly bigger maps with more stealth opportunities instead of ring around the rosie and trying to break line of sight after a pallet stun or goin through a building, when you get in the high ranks as a survivor you run into either a decent  killer who uses camping as a strategy to lure survivors trying to get those benevolent points for the pip or a godly killer who can track everyone down quick and you sometimes are left with no option than to get to a safe zone because of the skill of the person along with possibly being in a horrible section of the map to break sight and escape  gives you no other choice but to do that and regather what your next move is, it seems like it’s an intended mechanic to loop or you would think they would only be in certain closed off areas that don’t have the possibility of a loop
How much bigger do I have to make the sarcasm sign?!

I highly doubt that the devs will introduce any new objectives any time soon.

Because after the nerf, killers won´t even get that hit. We´ll get something that is close to the old infinite. Survivors will be able to loop the killer for 5 gens without even getting hit.

This sounds amazing for survivors. They can finally create some Ochido style videos, where they loop the killer till daylight and then claim how ez it was. Survivors will be able to get all 4 survivors out for almost every match.

Yeah it´s a bad map for him. But i think Crotus Penn is the worst. Since i can´t see #########, when i enter the building. Pitchblack

This is why I have been using Nancy's Picture/Sketch lately. The range increase really helps you to just spam his power around and catch people you normally wouldn't be able to see. Coldwind and swamp maps are actually quite good for him using stacked drawings because the range is 30m, which is 6m farther than his lullaby and 2m farther than Nurse's Calling (which is IMO the top perk for Freddy). You can sleep people before they even know you are coming, and they don't even know from where most the time. You can easily check an entire area super fast by just circling around it with your power channeled.

I never thought about that add-on. I always use the dress or the cubes. A really good idea.

I just got to rank 1 killer last night WITH FREDDY and I could probably count on 1 hand the number of times I got Bloodlust 2 and 3. Most of the time I either mindgame them or catch them after getting BL1. If a chase goes on long enough for me to get BL2 I'm usually giving up on the chase to go after someone else.

I feel like the ones really complaining about BL2/3 are the ones that just chase a single survivor all game. You shouldn't be doing that, changing targets is often a better option.

You can´t compare Freddy with normal killers.
If you break a chase with Freddy, it´s part of the mindgame and actually quite effective.
If you break the chase with any other killer, you won´t have it so easy to find the survivor again.

I'm sure a lot of other killers share this sentiment.

The BL nerf will remove all mind games. The fact that the killer had to reach BL3 to get a hit on the survivor, just shows how unbalanced the whole looping mechanic is. If the killer wasn´t able to get a hit with the old BL2 for 15 seconds, he won´t get a hit with the new BL3. Survivors will just loop the killer indefinitely and call it skill.

Why the hell would you waste all the time to get to bloodlust 3 when you can easily just break the pallet which takes less time?

Because in the time it takes to break one pallet, the survivor has already reached the next pallet and the loop starts again.

It takes more time to bloodlust someone around a really safe pallet then to go around different loops you might aswell break it and move to the next one you will waste less time

Then you break this pallet, then the next one, the one after that and after 30+ pallets you finally realize that you are alone on the map.

Yes, it´s unaviodable to break some pallets. But on some spots it might be better to get BL instead of breaking every pallet.

Why are survivors still giving redundant advice from 2016 like, "just break the pallet", "just use BS", "just chase someone else". It doesn't work and it never will. Honestly.

    "Huge Buff"

    Lol.

Would you call the exhaustion nerf a huge nerf or a minor nerf?

I'd call it the right direction.

It passed the PTB - The people wanted it, so it happened. Just like this up coming "huge" buff. If it passes it'll go in, along with the bloodlust change IF IT PASSES.

It hasn't even passed the PTB and you're already making posts moaning about it.

did they release the stats on the survey they did for the exhaustion changes on said PTB that it passed? I personally never saw a survey on it. I honestly think a lot of the uproar over the exhaustion changes is that they didn't bother to do a survey, or get the survey out to the people and take the community's thoughts on the changes into account. rightfully so even the killer side of the community would be kinda pissed about a change that they had no opportunity to critique or give feedback on. but i suspect we will see the anger from them when bloodlust changes come in and with it the infinite loops return to glory. all with out the killers getting that very chance to feedback and critique. see I am a survivor main and I feel the exhaustion changes was great, but it shouldn't have effected some perks like dead hard. and I would have gladly gave feedback to that very aspect in a survey.

I think they didn´t do a survey, because most of the survivors didn´t bother to even play the PTB. Which was a shame, cause it could have changed some numbers on the actual nerf.

Well survivors probably don't read the forums so much since it's only noob killers here whining all day.

Just throwin' it out there, I very rarely even get bloodlust 1 (unaffected), let alone bloodlust 2 (slight decrease). The only time I've ever gotten bloodlust 3 was when I was messing around and intentionally trying to get it. It's not as big of a deal as some make it out to be. The vast majority of the time you're going to have to break a pallet before BL1 can even activate, and even if you do get BL1, it's unaffected by this change. Simply put, you do not need to be going 1.8m/s (4.6 base) faster than someone to catch them. BL3 will still allow you to close the distance twice as fast as you would normally.

I've never been a fan of bloodlust. It doesn't help with the one thing it was made to solve. Each time you break a pallet, it resets. The only thing it actually punishes is survivors who know how to survive without using pallets let and right, and instead using windows to gain small amounts of distance and using the broken LOS to mindgame. Bloodlust in reality is just a brute force mechanic. There's no strategy to it. You just run around for a bit and then sonic up to someone to get a hit.

If anything, I'd rather just see it reworked into something that punishes pallet looping, e.g. for each pallet you break in a chase you get a bloodlust stack. But in order to do that (since stacks would be easier to accumulate), you'd have to have a more reasonable speed boost. You can't have an F1 running you down just because of a few pallets.

Also, that is going to be tested before it even has a chance to go live. It's not even confirmed yet.

The rest of the changes mentioned were fairly minor. QOL animation improvements (no effect on gameplay, unhook change is arguably good for the killer because the "fake" unhook where they are not grab-able doesn't exist), trap buffering is really not a big deal (now that traps cannot be placed under hooks, it's going to see minimal use, long time trapper main here).

The only other biggish change mentioned is giving more information to solo players, which is a good thing. It puts everyone on a more level playing field, making the game easier to balance. Currently it's difficult to find a good balance because solo players would be left behind if you just buff killers, whereas SWF groups wouldn't have much issue because they're able to share information easily. Bringing everyone up to the same level allows you to buff killers to make them powerful to everyone equally.

    Just gonna leave this here:

Kindred being a passive built in mechanic only furthers the progression of gens without the fear of "if i leave this generator do I just lose out on generator time or can I get the save"
Without a change of generators or another way to increase the gametime built into the game, it makes the clock for the killer even crazier to play against.
Kindred has a good staying ground, as a perk.
not as a mechanic without tweaking the core problem of the too fast progressed gens first.
With Kindred built in, you will always have at least 1-2 people constantly working on a gen while someone is hooked. If you dont even have to sacrifice a perk slot for it, it only fuels the problem of games beeing faster done than a killer can end chases efficiently.

Exhaustion removal on hook combined with the invincibility frames would allow a freshly unhooked Survivor to Sprint Burst away without the Killer having a chance to do something about it, giving the Survivor a considerable edge in the following chase, further contributing to the persisting problem of chasing lasting for too long. And just imagine the free hatch if it's nearby or even right next to the hook. It would also make SB again the by far BEST exhaustion perk in the game, because after the unhook you'd be able to force a Killer to chase, while other exhaustion perks wont give you that much power in that situation.

The Bloodlust nerf is not justified in any way. Not only does the Emblem System already considerably punish the Killer for even getting Bloodlust, no it also rewards the Survivor for it alongside. And seen as how pallet stuns and breaks get rid of it altogether and even short losses of line of sight (vaults) quickly deteriorate it, it does not help against the type of Survivor it should help against: loopers, but rather further punishes the non-looping Survivors. If the speed boost is lowered, so should the time be.

That is a summary of the community-feedback given to the devs after lengthy discussions on Discord and why the changes have a high potential for abuse. I do understand your reasoning and the devs' in the Q&A, but both you and them forget to think ahead, to how those changes can be abused. If there's anything abusable in Dead by Daylight, Survivors will find and (ab-)use it, the game's history has shown that to be true time and time again. You also don't look broad enough to consider the immense drawbacks some of the proposed changes will have, that they'll actually increase the severity of current problems.

    THANK YOU!
I´ve been preaching this for the whole day.

    "Huge Buff"

If you are so unhappy maybe you should review the game. Did you even listen they are trying to balance the solo que player with the swf. Once they are satisfied both are on equal standing with processing the same amount of information. They can properly adjust moving forward.

The ONLY way to get solo survivors on the same lvl as SWF would be to introduce game intern Voice com. Than balance around it.

All those attempts to give solo survivors the same information has only made SWF stronger.

Just because a small time Youtuber says its a bad change does not make his point valid. The feature has not been implemented yet and hes talking as if his word is fact. If he had of paid attention he would of seen that the devs stated rarely a killer would get Bloodlust 3 and maybe wanna have just the first two Bloodlust tiers but with slightly faster aquiring times. They are trying to fine balance it for both sides.

They stated: ''Its unfun for the survivor, because its very hard to play around a killer that is moving that fast. And also a bad move for the killer cause they had to waste so much time to get it. It wasnt the most strategic move for the killers. It kinda felt bad for survivors tp play against it. It wasnt all that great all around so hopefully the new numbers will get the results we are looking for and be a bit less frustrating to play against.''

Stop getting into such a panic people. Love you all!! :D

But you did see the grafic, where they showed that the new BL3 is effectivly BL2 with a longer time.

Ohhh i almost forgot. It´s unfun for survivors. Well that settles everything!
Freddy was also unfun for survivors...

But we are still talking about DbD, yes?
Because on my version of DbD, high rank survivors know exactly how to abuse the differences in hit boxes to loop for ages. I agree, that i rarely see BL3, because i more often than not, have to break a pallet. With the upcoming nerf, survivors will be able to loop killers even more and longer.

I highly doubt the devs will buff the killers as they need it. Since they have been giving in to survivor demands time after time.
You are balancing the game around rank 20 but didn´t find it strange how the one and only DbD anniversary tournament turned out. The game is incredibly unbalanced towards survivors. Do you really think nerfing killers is the right decision to get a balanced game? Or are you simply to afraid of the survivors which review bombed the game?

IF the devs really want to balance the game, they would need to play regularly with and against the best DbD streamers and Regularly play on rank 1 against our normal community. No internal matches where people play nice, and everyone comes along. But against the full toxic playerbase we have to endure on a daily base.

SWF thinks it´s a good idea to sort the matchmaking for the weakest player. He shouldn´t have a bad experience after all. It all about (survivors) fun.

I'm rank 1 on survivor, and 2 of my friends are rank 4-9. We always have a rank 20 friend with us which always gets us matched with extremely low rank killers. Many having 90-120 hours. Some had 30. If we skip the rank 20 survivor, we get killers in high ranks, with 1000-9500 hours.

There are killers with 9500 hours?
Did they forgot to turn the computer off?

Many people underestimate the Asian/South Asian players. It's like an untapped pool of extremely skilled and passionate players and streamers, unfortunately, 99% of them being toxic. But yes, I've seen multiple killers and survivors with 7200-9500 hours who play optimally, including no perk, no addon nurses. So while people would have considered Blinky Bill (at one point in time) to be the best Nurse in the game, there are people who were either equally better or much better in the underrated Asian/South Asian regions.

Interesting. Devs should base their balancing on those extremely high skilled players gameplay.

That´s what i´ve been telling the whole day.
If a killer can´t catch a survivor with BL2 right now, he won´t be able to catch a survivor with the new BL3. Survivors will just loop him almost indefinitely. This is a huge nerf for killers, which shouldn´t need BL in the first place, to catch a slower survivor. But because survivors abuse the difference in the collision (or hit) box, they can loop the killer.

Only solution i see, would be to make the box the same size. No more fat shaming.

Devs have lost their mind, if they think nerfing BL right now would be a good thing.

Survivors will get exactly what they want. A ez match, where they can experience the thrill of a chase, but no real danger. Good enough to make a funny YT video and BM the killer.

Let them implement their stupid ideas. Watch how all but the uninformed killers leave the game to play something else. I came back as killer to try this game after the recent changes only to be slapped in the face yet again.

Your other post comparing the different speeds of the cars yet the faster one not being able to catch the slower one pretty much sums up the looping game. Remove BL or nerf it then you might as well make infinites a thing again cos as of now it takes 2-4 loops to get them to drop one single pallet at which point you lose BL and break the pallet or risk losing them altogether or at the very least lose sight of them but still lose BL.

Survs who refuse to do anything other than run in circles are being accommodated here. I suck as surv but i am doing the best i ever have in this patch. I dont loop but try to mindgame killers in jungle gyms. Its working really well for me. The best i have ever done.

The changes will have the following effects on the game:

    • near infinite looping
    • increase in nurse players on every rank
    • increased survivor lobby ques
    • survivors will only be happy for a short time

It won´t kill the game. But most of the old killer mains have already left the game. It´s simply to unbalanced.
Every month there´s a sale and new killers fill up the ranks and get told to git gud. Which they believe for some time until they realize how unbalanced it is and leave. Then the circle repeats.

Just a example. Yesterday i had a match, where 3 gens poped by the time i downed the first survivor as Freddy. It wasn´t a long chase or looping. But simply the size of the map (swamp).
If survivors are dedicated to finish the gen, then it takes less than 80 seconds for a single survivor to do it. Most chases take longer than 80 seconds, IF the survivor starts looping.

He might be EU then like a lot of others are at least pc side and yeah sometimes matches go really quick but in most cases it's either the killer does it or survivors do based on map rng and killer choice. Freddy on Swamp I've never run into and that seems like a really bad map for him due to lOS issues.

Yeah it´s a bad map for him. But i think Crotus Penn is the worst. Since i can´t see #########, when i enter the building. Pitchblack
