I get to tell a story!

So, currently we have a large play population that uses MLGA, a network traffic sniffer, to see who their matched against in terms of player. Now this program allows you to create lists of people's screen names so it can tell you when you're in that person's lobby. They say this is to just create whitelists of people with stable connections. Yet, in reality a lot of the time they were just making blacklists of killers they didn't want to play against for reasons that aren't even remotely proper. This resulted in lots of lobby dodges and increased queue times so the devs had to put MLGA on their blacklist in an attempt to curve usage.

The reason you don't get to see the name or the killer chosen is because people can't help but try to cherry pick their competition. You hook a survivor early in the game before they get a chance to start a gen? Blacklisted. Don't give the hatch? Blacklisted. Don't spend the game farming because of an early dc? Blacklisted. Played defensively against overly altruistic survivors while you were on hook?Blacklisted. Many more non toxic situations occur than actual toxic situations, but since people love to get in their feelings and be childish they do things that mess up key components like matchmaking. They have to be held in check.

    Pretty much this.

But it wasn't black listed. It was only removed from the whitelist.

@OP this wasn't fiction. It really happened.

  • Okay... I just leave you hanging then.

    *shrugs*

I don't find killer anymore stressful than playing survivor.

I play the game to have fun and adjust my playstyle for it.

However... when it comes to "appealing"... When choosing which side I wish to play, I personally would find survivor more appealing to play if they scored more.

So I'm sure where you are coming from with your statement. I hope this clears things up for you on how I see it personally.

If you are finding playing killer "stressful" rather than "appealing" that maybe is an issue with how you view the game on a personal level.

Appealing isn't the same as stressful.

    --

I'm gathering that less people playing survivor during events, or just in general, don't find the survivor side as "appealing" anymore.

If survivor was "stressful" to play, than players shouldn't play it.

I agree! Survivor isn't stressful at all. That's why I mainly play solo survivor.

But I really don't understand why people think that survivors get less points than killers.

  • @TheBean said:

Wozzers.. read through some of the posts.

Sorry Killer mains... The sad fact is survivors need some more points.

As one mod points out... To make it more appealing to play survivor.

The word appealing is important there.

If you don't enjoy killer and find it stressful, than perhaps don't play killer anymore. You are supposed to have fun playing the game, not squeeze out a turd out every game.

    Have fun.

Survivors don't mind dying for you, but I think some would like a bit more points when doing it over and over again.

Funny how you say that killers should´nt play anymore, if they don´t enjoy the role. Right after pointing out, that the devs need to make survivors more appealing.

    Irony...

  • But the way i understand this, it would be a nerf to NOED.

Since every survivor would hunt for totems.

Excuse me @Tsulan, I play mostly as a survivor I should say 70/30 , and well If survivors have more chances to win BP (still capped to 8,000 per each category) then more people would play this role, making short times finding matches as a killer

Why? The fact is that you need less killers than survivors in the game (one killer, four survivors per match).

The problem with we're gonna life forever when granted 200% BP was simple, there is a high amount of BP without offerings that you can win (32,000 BP) but WGLF is able to break that limit (it will happen again if BBQ grant 200% , more people would rush to play as killer), but I don't think it will happen again as I said you're still capped to 32,000 BP and most of survivors can't reach that amount right now because survivor only takes the times for struggle in the second phase of sacrifice (900 BP as much), escaping from killer grasp (500 BP wich is highly hard, impossible now if you have Iron Grasp) wich is not given to you if someone blinds the killer.

In summary I don't think the "big migration" of surv/killer will happen again.

@Saitamfed I understand that the survivor role has to be more attractive to players than the killer role, in order to keep the 4vs1 balance up. This thinking led to the introduction of WGLF. The devs thought it would be a great idea, to boost survivor points. But they didn´t expect killers to switch to survivor.

I´m not against more points per se. I´d prefer something like a special item that gives permanent exhaution or slows repair speed, or reduces the distance survivors hear the terror radius, etc. Just something that makes the game a little harder, but in exchange grants a 100% bonus points. Just like Padded Traps for the Trapper do. Something that requires some effort, and gives a bonus.

If they just increase the amount, to get for example 50% more points than now, then people will play more survivor. Just to farm faster. Which is intended, but might be a little to tempting. It´s a difficult thing and the balance could easily tip towards one side.

I simply doubt, that the devs can easily adjust the numbers. Why? Because they failed with the last event, where survivors got firecrackers instead of cakes. Something like this happend on various occations in the past and it sure will repeat in the future.

The grinding should be reduced anyway. Since most perks/addons that give bonus points, give them during the match. Which is just ridiculous.

I asked for proof that these claims of Survivors gaining the same amount of BP as Killer in a given period are accurate, so I am open to evidence that changes my mind.

@TAG it was mentioned as a short comment in a dev stream like 2 years ago. I´m not going through 100+ hours of dev streams to find that one...

Did something similar ages ago to proof that face camping doesn´t exist anymore (dev quote). Never again.

  • @ClogWench said:

It usually seems pretty self evident and typically those who get a thread closed are warned personally about it. Mods probably don't want to call anyone out publically about it.

I usually would think the same, but we have on the first 2 pages some threads that were just people asking for some perk or survivor buffs. No toxic behavior or anything visible.

    @ClogWench

  • That´s the reason why i don´t use We´ll make it anymore.

It´s simply ridiculous. People prefer to heal themselfes for ages, than getting a quick heal and giving you points.

  • 16 seconds is a joke. To actually have an impact, it should be somewhere around 60 seconds. Making people choose between waiting 60 seconds or risking the attention of the killer.

  • @Gcarrara said:

Ok thanks for the clarification. So this doesn't actually encourage gen rushing, since people would need to do other things to go full stack.

It's an interesting concept for sure!

@Gcarrara that would be a huge NOED nerf.

  • I´d be okay with an aura reading buff for WGLF. Similar to BBQ.

If a survivor gets hooked, it shows survivors that have it, all other survivors for 4 seconds. Exactly like BBQ does. With the same restrictions. If someone is hiding in a locker, he wouldn´t show up.

That way, survivors could save a lot of time, by determining if other survivors are closer to the hook.

  • @Entità said:

@Tsulan @shinymon @Milordo I don't understand your comment. Would you like WGLF get 4 stacks by doing 4 gens? It would be impossible: 5 gens among 4 survivors... The perk design should guarantee that all survivors can use it at the same time, so I'm considering four common events, which every survivor can reach, without heavy competition: 1 totem, 1 gen, 1 heal, 1 safe rescue. Doing them, you show your Aura to your team, allowing a better coordination, and get good stacks.

More than 1 person can work on a gen. There would be no competition. Just 3 or 4 survivors working on the same gen, everyone getting a stack.

  • @miaasma said:

other people in this thread have posted their experiences, you either haven't bothered reading their posts or are ignoring/dismissing them

i do not care enough if you reply to @ you, especially not if you disregard several different people's own stated personal confirmations that playing killer while queues are normal yields more bloodpoints in order to suit your weird paranoia that survivors getting more bloodpoints than they currently do will matter whatsoever

I really bothered reading the whole thread. But as i said in my first comment, i agree with @DocOctober since he´s the admin of the DbD Wiki, he has some more perspective.

People should really play both sides extensively and not only some rank 20 matches to proof their point.

I would post the end stats of my last survivor matches. But i doubt that would somehow change your mind, since you are adamant on survivors earning lesser points.

  • @Riddick said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/565526#Comment_565526

Every time there is an event, my killer queues get insanely long, regardless of the release of a killer or survivor, due to the easily perceived effect that you can get a lot more BPs in the killer side. I'm still trying to understand why is this change bad on the killer side. Worst case scenario, survivor queues get longer and killer ones get shorter, which will still make it so that killers get more BPs per hour. @Tsulan mentioned the WGLF introduction. I believe I joined DbD after that, but wasn't the perk initially rewarding 200% extra bloodpoints, which would give an insane extra amount of BPs after a match?

@Riddick yes, the 200% bonus led to 45+ minute queues on survivor side. I remember this, because before the introduction of the Huntress and David King, i was a Killer main. After that, i switched to survivor. More points, less stress.

Many killer mains did the same. That´s what we want to prevent. We had some good dev decisions and some poorly thought out decisions. All we want, is to prevent the later one.

  • Wait, so you even think that killers get more points than survivors WHEN the killer queues are long?

I really miss that LoL button...

  • @shinymon said:

I stopped using WGLF and went with Prove Thyself for farming purposes a long time ago. At least Prove Thyself gets the objective done.

    @shinymon why not both?

I use WGLF, Prove Thyself, BT and Lithe/IW/Empathy depending on my mood.

Works really well, and unless the killer tunnels&camps me, i usually get full stacks and often more points than the killer.

you need proof of an anecdote? i didn't record myself playing killer and survivor today, but i know killer yielded more points over similar time periods because of how much i was able to spend between games

i don't really care enough to prove this to you, i kind of think it's evident enough. think what you want though

unless you put a @ with my name, i won´t get a notification. Please consider this when expecting an answer.

@miaasma now back to your comment. You said people have tested it. So i assumed, that there would be any proof of that testing. Like over an extendet amount of time. Depip Squad like testing with gameplay, screenshots, etc.

Not just "oh look i made only 10k" observations.

  • @Milordo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/565359#Comment_565359

Gen rushing is the objective for survivors.

Barbecue rewards killers for doing their objective.

    Pls don't be cringe, thanks.

@Milordo the survivors objective is to escape. In order to escape they have to repair gens. Survivors get really annoyed when the killer uses NOED. I think it´s fair to assume, that repairing is not their objective, but escaping.

BBQ rewards killers for leaving the hook to go for a different survivor.

As i already said, what could possibly go wrong if survivors get stacks for gen rushing?

Not like gens getting completed in 3-4 Minutes would be an issue...

  • @SleepyWillo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/565375#Comment_565375

LMFAO - if you were "clearly better the better player" you wouldnt be getting gen rushed and would actually be applying pressure to the gens. L2P, etc.

@SleepyWillo could you provide some rank 1 gameplay please? I mean, you can clearly chase 4 survivors at the same time and prevent them from rushing. I want to learn from you!

  • @ToastfaceKilla i agree

People should play both sides to high ranks to see how each side performs.

  • @miaasma said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/565410#Comment_565410

people who have tested it have determined that this isn't the case, and i just explained in my post how survivors get less bloodpoints based on the events in the game even if they escape due to how this game is structured

in my experience, now that killer queues aren't totally awful i get far more bloodpoints within any given amount of time on killer than i do on survivor

this is a really hysterical combination of paranoia and pettiness honestly

    may i see some proof?

  • @miaasma said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/565345#Comment_565345

you and the OP just sound like you're pouting about survivors finally getting BP gain on par with killers. doesn't really matter how reasonable you're trying to make it sound. threads like these really bring out the entitlement some people have to things that don't make much sense in the first place

if a survivor survives until the end of the match (and therefore exits at the same time the killer does) their BP gain will still be significantly less than the killer's if the killer performed decently

keep in mind that certain killers are veritable point machines while others struggle in some areas (looking at you, deviousness) whereas survivors get the same point spread across the board and have to effectively share points (if you don't manage to get any saves in a game because your teammates just rush hooks then your points at the end of the game are pretty minimal even if you escape)

people who tested the survivor vs killer point gain found different findings than what you're suggesting is the case

@miaasma but the bloodpoint gain IS on par with killers.

Does anyone even read what i write?

The changes will give survivors MORE points than killers. It won´t be on par, it will be superior. Thats what this is all about.

  • New killers

    Rank 3...

either you abuse the rank system to swf with rank 15 survivors or your statement makes cero to no sense.

  • Lets reward survivors with full stacks for gen rushes.

Sure, what could possibly go wrong?

  • @Peanits so why not change the bonus BP perks like Prove Thyself and Distressing to give the bonus points after the match?

You could also introduce items/addons for survivors that gimps their gameplay, but increase the earned BPs. Just like you did for a few killers.

  • @altruistic next time you try to summon me, use the @ with my name.

I'm on the same page as @DocOctober and @DarkGGhost here.

Devs stated a long time ago that the amount per hour is roughly the same. We already explained how it works.

Killers had no queue issues before GF was released. It's simply the combination of new killer + event + survivors getting firecrackers instead of cakes + free weekend.

Most of us supposed killer mains have been playing survivor during the event. No issue here.

@Peanits correct me, if I'm wrong. But I think the last time the devs tried to give in to the survivor claims of getting less BP, you introduced WGLF. Which in turn broke lobbies for survivors. What makes you think, that this time will be any different?

  • @FeelsVeryBadMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/71936/do-the-devs-consider-matches-like-this

Played a match as Jane last night. I'm rank 1. Randoms popped into my lobby and I knew it was gonna be tough, but I decided to ignore it and not leave. Not every rando is braindead, right?

Well, this Killer brought in the most OP addons they have and a Mori. He found me instantly right as I spawned in. I got bullied to hell, I was camped and tunnelled. My teammate's BT was useless aswell, because there were no good loops around my hook on this specific map. He had NOED, Bamboozle, BBQ, Enduring... the usual meta.

He even bullied us during the Endgame collapse. So, in essence, going against a Killer like that is almost impossible. He had 2000+ hours so he didn't fall for mindgames. You pretty much had to accept the loss, which I did. I didn't have fun though.

Do the Devs even consider the annoying crap that rank 1 Survivors have to deal with?

That is literally what some Survivors have to go through, especially the ones that don't use instaheals, DS, BT, Adrenaline and stuff like that. Poor Killers tho, they're the only ones who have it hard. @iTz_KilLaZ_x

@FeelsVeryBadMan okay, just to get this straight. Correct me, if I'm wrong.

    You're rank 1.

    You played solo.

    Your random teammates are potatoes.

    Killer used mori.

    Killer found you first.

    You got bullied (how?)

    You got camped.

You got tunneled (with a mori active?)

You stayed until the end watching or survived. (This part wasn't clear to me)

Killer bullied your team (again, how?)

Killer had 2000 hours and therefore experience.

Just as a perspective thing, what's your killer rank?

You are describing rank 20 killer gameplay tho.

  • We need to bring the old DS back, instant Flashlights, white blinding Flashlights, pallet teleports, increase number of pallets, reduce SC heal time and increase the WGLF BP bonus to 200%.

Then killer lobbies will be instant and survivor lobbies will take around 45+ minutes.

    And yes, this is sarcasm.

You know when you get tunnel vision? You see one person and one person only. For instance people could be running around you, but you wouldn't see them. I believe that's where it comes from. You can't tunnel something you're doing half heartedly, so survivors can't tunnel gens unless they're fighting with the killer over a certain gen (they keep returning to it, despite having other options), but that usually leads in vulnerability or death, especially if done early on when many gens need to be done. Additionally when you get down to three generators, returning top any of them wouldn't be considered "tunneling" unless you would also consider not giving hatch to be tunneling.

Tunneling is weird in this context because it is a chasing interaction and you can't change a gen that doesn't move.

Also by your logic, any action with survivor is considered tunneling. Not touching a regressing gen, regardless of if it's one you keep returning to, isn't the same as tunneling down someone relentlessly. It isn't the same as following one survivor without paying mind to any of the others or returning to them repeatedly (even while in another chase where you'll likely get a down) to finish them off or at least try to.

The word tunneling is made up thought. You won't find it in a dictionary, unless you use the urban dictionary... and there you'll be up for a surprise!

  • @KillermainBTWm8 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/562343#Comment_562343

Be careful what you wish for not tunneling gens can actually be pretty effective surprisingly

Not touching a regressing gen until it's fully regressed?

    @KillermainBTWm8

  • @fluffymareep said:

Is English not your first language? You can't tunnel gens.

@fluffymareep I understand the concept of tunneling as going for the same objective and ignoring everything else until said objective is done. Since tunneling isn't really a word, not everyone might understand this concept equally. Many people think it's just about killers ignoring other survivors until the tunneled survivor is dead. But essentially this can also applied to gens. Since killing survivors is an objective for the killer as repairing gens is a objective for survivors.

Since you asked, English is my fourth language.

I hope I answered your question.

  • Didn't survivors complain that waiting 3-4 minutes was unbearable and that the game was taken hostage?

Survivors even asked for a concede button...

  • Emblems are ridiculous anyway. Killers can get a perfect 32k points 4 kill and black pip.

Killers that down with their ability lose chase points.

  • It's probably just you...

  • Lobby times are back to normal?

  • I wonder if survivors could play like this.

Not tunneling gens. Every time the killer kicks a gen, the survivors can't touch it unless it's completely regressed.

  • @LordGlint and how would that vary from the current gameplay?

1 … 177 178 179 180 181 … 279
