Wow are you serious? Then “holding the game hostage” is OBVIOUSLY not what they wanted to avoid when they could’ve at least done 1 per stage. Only 1 time per hook instance is pathetic. That’s annoying but of course they gotta listen to the killers

so in your opinion, they adjusted the perk just because they "listened to killers" not because it's a work in progress and after testing the perk's behavior on PTB, they decided to adjust it for game balance. Okay... if you say so. Killer mains are real manipulative jerks then. we enter their minds and whisper to them "... neeeeeerf iiiiiiiitttt...... neeeeerf iiiiiiiit" lol

  • The perk was adjusted as needed, because it was needed. Simple as that. Not because some imaginary "campers" told them to. It was tested, it's onvious problems were observed, and adjusted again. I know some things might look too good to be true to some people but you just have to understand that PTB is for testing ideas, and changing them is perfectly normal. You just shouldn't have taken a work in progress as granted.

The devs don't listen to some killer mains to nerf something, nor to survivor mains. The performance is observed in the game, maybe they will nerf it more, or adjust it again, just keep using everything, or even abusing in PTB, that's what testing is for, that's what people did, and demonstrated the things that need change.

  • I think Sadako is still quite strong and I totally enjoy playing with her. Reassons:

-the teleports are actually good, I like them even better than that on the dredge, I keep getting lost with so many lockers

-she is very small, because of her height she's hard to spot many times and survivors keep losing track of her movement when she's in a chase.

-her low terror radius is quite helpful also, which can be reduced more with perks

-she has a normal speed, I never had problems in chases.

-her manifestation is quite good, she's not getting too slowed down like Wraith for example

As long as I keep my eyes open I very rarely lose with Sadako. She's small and people underestimate even her lounge distance, everything about her is nice in my opinion, even if her addons aren't that great.

Listen BHVR I love you(not really) but here is a thing - if SWF group or single individual wants to torture someone, they will do just that no matter what. No matter the perks or anything else. Reassurance was perfect as is - if killer wants to camp, let them do just that, stare at survivors eyes for the whole match while everyone else leaves. Now it's gonna be another OP SWF perk and almost useless solo Q perk.

you are daydreaming of course. BHVR didn't listen to anybody, just watched how the perk performs in PTB, and adjusted as needed

Honestly I don't think they care if a perk can be used for trolling your teammates when you have flashbangs, bond, empathy, and many other perks to sandbag and troll your teammates

yes you can, so one more is not needed, especially since before this could be used repeatedly by the same person before, to keep the survivor on the hook for like ever.

I suggested that it should be fixed so it only works if the killer is within 16 meters, since it's supposedly meant to stop camping, but it works no matter where the killer is. So they chose this fix then as I see.

It's still going to be good, but the nerf was definitely unnecessary.

It was necessary. that's why it was adjusted. it was tested, and adjusted precisely because it was needed. That's why PTB exists to see how things perform.

  • Personally I don't care about the PTB changes at all to give an opinion. I only care about the live version. I believe it's wasted effort to wrap around our heads on PTB changes, since it's a work in progress. those who play there keep playing, keep exploiting and abusing the hell out of the perks to show their flaws, and they will be adjusted if needed.

  • @dictep said:

With the massive nerf now you’ll get all survs with this perk running to the hook to use it, so nobody doing gens, and giving the killer a new surv to chase for free, without needing to find him or moving to anywhere. Add to this you remove a perk slot to survs who use it, and it’s a very strong killer perk now

It was adjusted as needed. Many of us said it might be because it's in a test phase and of course it was adjusted after seeing how it performs. Nothing was "changed" the test phase of any feature isn't there to be taken as granted. It's a work in progress with all it's flaws. You have to understand that. That's all. It's Public Test version of a perk, not an actual perk in the live game.

  • It was easy to guess :)) It's one of those "camping and tunneling" topics some survivor makes after failing in the last game and runs over here to complain about some bad behavior, which qualifies as "camping and tunneling" according to him, without talking about specific examples.

  • @SkeletalElite said:

If they're going to do this, they should buff the stop time to 40 seconds and increase the activation range to 16 meters.

nope. I don't think 16 meters would ever happen. it will remain 6 meters. it's purpose is to go close and chose between unhooking or pausing the timer. Not to serve as a remote control gizmo to stop the timer from far away.

  • don't unhook right in front of the killer. there, I solved it for you. Otherwise any interrupt attack results in a grab (the killer has to be in position, and can't use lounge for that to work)

  • @Dead_Harder said:

Aight let me celebrate this with a terrible take.

Most killers dont have an original enough power to deserve a spot in the game.

survivors are worse. they are just reskins. there is no reason to play multiple characters. Probably they should rework survivors a bit giving each character some unique action to make it worth playing more of them.

  • @blue4zion said:

use ds if you getting tunneled

they will not. since most of them aren't getting tunneled actually, they just dislike being caught again down the road

Do you think they will buff or nerf  reassurance ?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1D6N67EU554I/reassurance.gif

First of all the title is nonsense. The devs are on nobody's "side" this is a business and equal fun is needed to fill lobbies and to keep people playing.

Second. I had some concerns about Reassurance, basically around it's trolling potential. But thinking about it long enough I don't really see it's value. As a killer I hardly ever had any kills from expired hook timers, I pressure all of them and they die from being caught and hooked back again. It wouldn't really mess up my game, but probably it can mess up the game for survivors, if they want to send somebody on a vacation on some hook, and that person is basically disabled for the meatime. I'm always happy to see people on the hook for as long as it takes while I search for new people to kill...

  • @Volcz said:

Voice chat is mocked but its actually pretty sad that we don't have it in a 1v4 game w/ 'MMR' when almost every other game had it and this games been out for years. Even Evolve Stage 2 had it, lol.

If you aren't a fan of voice chat, then opt out. If you experience a toxic player, can simply mute them. I don't understand this whole 'voice chat will be horrible and toxic!' mentality when there could be a simple option to disable it if you aren't interested in comms.

Hell, even a experiment or test phase on PTB would be a start to gather data. I'd be all for it.

No. Default Voice chat will not happen in this game. There are perks designed around aura reading, gathering map information, so on so forth. What would be their purpose if you can simply tell people where the killer is for example? It's quite obvious that the game is designed with no voice chat in the cards, even if swf teams get around that using their own voice com. But the intended way to play this game is using perks for information, not voice chat.

So no, it will not happen

  • I might add for both survivor and killer: Keep a cool head and don't let emotions take over. Probably the most mistakes are because of emotions. As a killer don't let yourself be provoked, baited, keep focusing on your strategy and keep in mind that there are 4 people on the map. As a survivor, don't panic, don't be angry at teammates for not doing things in one way or another, heal, unhook, repair gens in a strategic manner without rushing too much. Don't make your moves so obvious because that's what you do when you are emotional

  • @StarLost said:

    I'm...actually struggling on this one.

This game unfortunately cannot be balanced around solos - otherwise SWFs just roll killers. However, I think the common opinion is that solos should, instead, be given some love to help bring them closer to SWFs.

The problem is - I can't really imagine how.

The status icons? I don't know if that would really do all that much.

    Voicechat? Ahahaha.

Stuff like baseline Kindred - would be a buff to SWFs too.

Unless you want to give solos a direct buff that does not apply to SWFs (which BHVR have expressly said they would never do), or maybe fiddle matchmaking to either give SWFs a higher MMR or solos a lower MMR, I'm drawing a blank here.

Anyone got any good, realistic and effective ways to help solos that won't impact the SWF versus Killer matchup at all?

No multiplayer game can be balanced around random teams who might or might not work together as they should. The same is true for every other team based multiplayer game. Random people are random people. It's a gamble. There is nothing odd about this. It's just how things are.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3142534#Comment_3142534

This is 100% wrong and honestly deserves its own thread. Lol. The killer is in control. It is the killer who leaves a survivor on the ground to setup the trap because they want their precious 4k. You know… it means they’re good! They create a situation where you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. If you go for the save you’re walking into the trap and you’ll both be found and die. If you leave them on the ground you’re a bad teammate who wont save his friend and held the game hostage. So you’re stupid if you save and you’re a bad teammate if you don’t. Also, considering that most solo games give me bad teammates, how likely am I to go die for someone who has been awful all game. If ever save in this situation its because the guy on the ground worked hard.

And… what happens when you don’t save and they can’t find you?? They try to get the slugged teammate to turn traitor by letting them go so they lead them to you. I’ve had this situation happen plenty. Killers will slug for a 4k and wait out the teammate hiding even with 2 DCs. It’s nothing but their own need for the validation of a 4k. Sure, some of you don’t do it and some are punishing toxic behavior. But this stuff is bread and butter killer behavior. It happens pretty much every time the game is down to 2 survivors and it’s hopeless to try to do gens.

the argument was that the killer is wasting your time, right? So how is the killer wasting time if the 4th survivor is refusing to do gens, go for a save, or heal, even if it means potentially being killed. The survivor is the passive one and wasting time then

  • any mod that changes the way the game looks is considered cheating, including reshades and such. Now if it will be acted upon or not.... that's another question. But to be safe don't mess with the game files.

If you change the hue using your videocard drivers... well nobody can stop you from doing that though. It's your preference.

  • it works as intended, it needs no change.

First of all it has a cooldown, second, it needs the kick, third, you can simply counter it by working on another gen while the killer is chasing instead of the one he just kicked

  • @shelobster said:

Devs don't care about tunneling and camping. Most of DBD players are killers so they will always cater to their needs. We're meter going to see actual changes to these tactics.

I'm quite sure the devs do care about preventing bad behavior, that potentially are ruining the fun. However most people's perception about "camping" and "tunneling" is very broad, and it has nothing to do with bad behavior. I start believing that people just make some words up to justify mistakes on their part.

Now about DS buff... Who knows, maybe they will take a look at it again. Probably like buffing it to 5 seconds stun, but reducing it's active time to half. 30 seconds instead of 60. Something for something

horrible idea and it will not happen, I believe. Basically that's like asking for a perk that completely discontinues a chase, instead of slowing it down. Imagine a 4 man team running those

  • well in the case of bamboozle it's not the survivor chasing the killer, so the vault location is blocked behind them, not between them

I used to play a lot of Artist and i would pretty much like to play her some more again.

But the problem is i basically only play nurse now for the last few months and compared to Nurse thats incredibly straightforward to use Artist has pretty high skill requirements to actually get good.

I feel like playing Artist would basically be a waste when i can put a fraction of the effort i need to get good at Artist to playing Nurse and continue doing much better.

    Caw :C

Shall i go on a Nurse detox or something. When did i become such a meta slave.

Lore, or something that just feels "cool" about the character design.

I don't really care about some killer "tiers" I just play characters which are cool.

So among my favorites was Doc, Pyramid head, Hag (oh gosh I even have prestige 10 on that one), and lately Sadako, and planning to learn to play with Dredge.

I was never truly interested in Nurse. While I was excited about her looks since I LOVE Silent Hill, her aim and shoot movement playstyle was not my cup of tea, nor I found it very interesting for me personally.

well the game will never be balanced around survivors failure or inability to work together. And that can happen often when you join random people. Random people are random people. It is how it is. Random teams will always be worse in any game, it's not the game's fault. And sure the game will always be balanced around efficient killers and survivors, not inefficient ones.

  • Reassurance wouldn't have won you any more games. If you are caught, you will hang. reassurance isn't going to help that much. Possibly it will even ruin some games for survivors. Survivors 90% of the time don't die from expired hook timer. they die from being caught and thrown back on the hook again

  • joining random teams isn't always teh best experience, this is true for every online game where you randomly join people. They are always salty about mmr, bad team, threaten to report eachother, so on. But games aren't going to be balanced around people's inability or failure to work together

  • And here I thought I already heard the most ridiculous ideas....

    Probably it will never happen.

  • All I play is Sadako for the last 2 weeks! She's cool. I can't quantify performance, but I don't have a problem with her. She feels fast, precise, and a joy to play as. Probably I will prestige her quite a number of times to get the bloody clothes. She's at prestige 2 now.

  • No need. The game is already slowing down once you hook someone because they need to save him instead of working on something productive meantime

  • @DeleteSWF said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/342272/reassurance-wouldve-won-me-last-8-lost-matches-out-of-10

It wouldn't. 10/10 times a survivor will unhook for points regardless of whether it's safe or not. They won't use a perk to prolong the timer. If you don't unhook, somebody else will. In two months, nobody will be using this perk.

this. Survivors don't really die in most games from the timer running out. They die because they are caught gain and killed. Prolong the time and sending the survivor on vacation will just disable one team member who does nothing, if he's just hanging on the hook

  • Why they keep bashing my beloved Sadako??? She's awesome! Screw tier lists! :)

Nah... if you are the one dodging and trying to handpick your game, probably you are worse anyway than those survivors without prestige, you are just trying to blame them for the bad experience.

I saw so many types of survivors and killers, regardless of their prestige level. I saw even prestige 10 making the worst mistakes, so I don't really care who's at what prestige. Your attitude towards the game matters though... And it's obvious that you are not really among the best teamplayers with this attitude.

Its cringe. Thanks for wasting 4 mins of my time every game so you can boost your ego a bit.

It's not the killer wasting your time. it's your teammate who stays inactive and is waiting for you to die just to get a hatch escape. Probably he should be busy resquing you or working on a gen instead of waiting for the game to end. The killer is doing what he's supposed to do, trying to find and kill survivors. A passively hiding survivor is the one wasting time, not the killer

  • I'm not sure I understand this behavior.... how many times the last survivors stayed and allowed to be sacrificed, when they have a chance for a 4 man escape...? It doesn't happen, like ever. I don't hold it against them. It's part of the game also.

  • I don't give the hatch to any survivor. quite often even close it before picking them up, or close it right after I hooked them. I don't see it as a nice gesture, I see it as a pointless thing to do. I never saw a last survivor staying there to be sacrificed in any game in the past especially when I was learning the game, out of kindness, so I have no idea why would I go against the rules of the game to show some unneeded nice guy routine. To feel better about myself? I wouldn't hit them and hook them in the first place if I would feed bad about that in a game...

The fact that killer mains aren't complaining and afaik there aren't any videos crying about how strong, broken, or OP base kit BT is tells you everything you need to know about it. It's a joke and mostly does little.

people do complain about it. both killers and survivors complain about everything. In any case BT does exactly what it is meant to do. Protecting you from being downed as soon as you are taken off the hook. That's what it does. It was never meant to be some 30 seconds tank shield for convenience.

  • People play DbD for the same reason people play any other game. For entertainment, for fun. Games are entertainment. It's not your job to do it. If you don't have fun you don't play. So.... I don't even know what is the meaning of this silly question... Those who don't like this game are not here anyway. So probably the correct question is "why do you like this game? Why don't you hate it?". And we can talk about that then.

  • @ZeymTheDragon said:

Killers complaining about pallets being too close to each other but GOD FORBID Survivors mention that the hooks are side by side and conveniently placed xD That’s the game, you need to play it. With boil over nerfed it’s easy to down a survivor and take them to the hook.

Want the survivors to jump on hooks themselves next time?

I'm not sure who are you talking to...

You know people play the game. and people might complain, because they are people. Both survivors and killers complain about this and that. Of course more often survivors do, since there is a larger Survivor main population in DbD than a killer main population. so Survivor complains are more often present.

same way people can ask you, if you want the exit gates from the start of the game next time? See how ridiculous your argument is?

Not everyone is complaining, but it's not like different kind of people play survivor or killer. If you look around the forums you see survivor complains more frequent than killer complains. Simply because there are more people playing survivors, but that means nothing.

  • The killer has the freedom to chose the target. 2 hooking everyone is certainly not a priority, nor the killer should go out of it's way to find somebody else just to play by the rules survivors want him to play. I personally like spreading out pressure on all of them, and I hook whoever I catch faster. I don't care if that person will die or not. I don't camp around the hook, it's a stupid strategy, and spread out pressure is the best strategy in my opinion. However if I see the person who I hooked 2 times before, I hear his cry of pain somewhere close by, I will not hesitate to give chase and kill that survivor.

Borrowed time is great, I'm well aware of it, and I don't chase the unhooked survivor, I simply go after the person who unhooked, but most of the time, by the time somebody is unhooked, I already am chasing somebody else somewhere else so I don't bother myself going back there. but after I am done there I try to guess which way people went after they onhooked the person and go check the place out. My job is to chase efficiently. Not selectively.

Killers can very much take you to basement very far away with perks. And while I may haven't ended up in basement as much compared to other people, there's many times where my teammates end up in basement which creates a constant 1 for 1 for the entire match which is unengaging and repetitive.

It doesn't help that basement has a guaranteed chance of spawning and also has an elevated counterpart that has the same effect and is on almost every map; aka hooks on hills.

I understand what you are saying but so far the most used perks by killers are slowdown perks, even if some might add Agitation or something, it's still quite rare, since in most games keeping survivors off gens is a priority, not guarding a basement or bringing them there from far away. People who end up in the basement usually do their loops around the basement shack, and if they fail (and eventually they do), they don't like to be taken down there

Now we were talking about 5 seconds being enough or not. I say is quite enough and it's a generous time for any situation since over 90% of the unhook situations don't happen in the basement and the borrowed time shield usually is used as a body block against the killer who might chase somebody else.

So because of this 5 seconds is enough unless we don't want to make unhooked though guys running around the killer tanking hits just to defend someone else.

  • Probably it's worth buying if you are a fan of the license. Othewise....

Well I definitely bought the Silent Hill chapter and Sadako Rising, but probably I'll just buy what I need from Re chapters separately

I mean, it kinda is when your game freezes when there's a skill check.

well anything is hard to hit if the game freezes when you try to do it. But the game doesn't have to be balanced around that of course. So Overcharge is good as it is.

  • @versacefeng said:

    Basement should go honestly.

how many times you ended up in the basement? have you ever considered that if this happens quite a lot to survivors, it might be their fault also? It's a situational mechanic so it remains in the game. It's not like killers can carry you to the basement from very far away.

  • @Taxman232 said:

In my opinion Scourge Hooks are a great addition and have really brought life back into DBD. With that said, I think they should be a single use only and then turn into a regular hook.

Before the Pain Res/DMS users start raging, hear me out. Scourge Hooks provide a huge advantage to the killer. They can provide aura readings, gen regression, reduce action speed and a reduce the hook timer which can pummel survivors into oblivion. Noting the massive uptake in these perks, combining them with slow down regression perks and in the spirit of a balanced game I think they should be a one use per hook item. Happy for all hooks on the map to start as Scourge Hooks or more than the base 4 but killers should have to be smart about how and when they use them. Rather than hooking on the same hook over and over and over again.

Well since scourge hooks can also be sabotaged, I don't think they need any change. I personally am not a fan of scourge hooks since I simply am not a fan of random placement of anything. Plus I don't think they pose such a problem in most games, the killer needs luck also how those things are placed, and probably it's not always worth the gamble

It should. Its litterly for that. But 5 seconds are not enough.

what is enough then? 5 seconds is more than plenty. And the basement situation is just a small fraction of scenarios when BT is helpful. Survivors use it for body blocking when you switch targets, so on. So I say 5 seconds is very generous as it is, it needs no change
