I would shut it off. I like soloq, I don't want to coordinate on comms.

    Thank you very much.

considering that the game is designed around information we are supposed to get from perks, non verbal communication like emotes, and overall inutition, I'm still thinking that voice communication is not something they will add or the game is supposed to be played. That being said, if there is a general balance issue between the experience as a solo survivor and a swf, the only way to balance the game around solo players is to remove swf from online matches, and playing with friends should be restricted to custom games only. If not, the game will never be balanced around solo players.

It's on the redacted edition of Survivor's Rulebook for Killers 2022, under the 12th article of the 5th chapter named "Lesser sins often commited by Killers", where not letting Survivors repair gens is considered griefing of gameplay due to the "... Killer's nature of destroying Generators to avoid their completion, therefore nullifying time and effort put by survivors in said repair of the Generator.".

There also seems to be a clause somewhere that Hooks within 20m of any uncompleted Generator cannot be used under any circumstance, but I haven't read the entire compendium.

    ahahaha :)) good one

That's not gen camping. Only thing which I would consider gen camping is defending 3 gen area right at the start of match and never leave. But it can be good stragedy in some maps like in haddonfield if all 3 gens are in main building but the match will be very long.

well the way this guy explained was that I returned to the gen and kicked it again after I was done chasing his teammates. So I aparently am a camper for returning to the gen I was before, or something.

It wasn't about 3 gens, I do this every game pretty much especially with Sadako in early game. I find the first gen they are working on, kick it and hit once the person who was working on it, then I leave him alone and look for the others, slap around as many as I can find then teleport back to teh first gen, and this time I will hook the person if he's still around. It's my main pressure because Sadako is lacking a bit of strength so I have to bluff charge and go for someone else quite a bit.

If I propose a new perk, then increase or decrease the numbers, it is buffed or nerfed from the previous proposal, despite never existing in the first place.

That was an extreme example, but in this case Wiretap was untouched from PTB, AA nerfed from PTB, Reassurance nerfed from PTB, Low Profile buffed from PTB, etc. By using the reference point of the PTB, a change can be a direct buff, nerf, or in the case of Better than New it could be pivoted into a different or similar direction.

well I'm using the live game as a reference point. PTB is for experimenting.

  • well being broken kinda paints a big target mark on your back. I can't resist it either....

  • I have been playing since 2017, and queue times were going in all sort of places periodically. sometimes survivors had long wait times, sometimes killers did. And actually it was never unbearable. Of course with each new addition things shifted around for a period of time, but I don't think I will see things I didn't see before in 5 years. So it's not a huge deal

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/343117/why-are-people-angry-about-the-reassurance-change

Instead of fixing abuse case scenarios, they nerfed it against abuse and realistic use cases. Throwing the baby out with the bathwater so to speak. If someone wants out of Reassurance, give them an option. Don't just nerf it for everyone else. This is using a sledgehammer instead of a scalpel to fix problems.

Reassurance was never "nerfed" it's not in the live game, it's a work in progress that may change. People probably should stop considering PTB as a main game

  • @TheArbiter said:

I wish they just made it deactivate during endgame. Would ensure that a hostage situation could not occur

during endgame it's better to just slug survivors. including those who come for a heal, force them to open the gate or you do it, and they are running out of time from endgame colapse, unless they escape or risk saving downed people. You are hooking after you cleared them out. Either some escaped or you downed them. if the slugged people are up they have no BT or nothing on them so you can slap them again.

It doesn't happen much but when a swf team manages to do like a perfect game and they are still standing, with gates powered up, I usually down one, and run for a gate and open it myself to force the timer to start. by the time I return they will be buzzing around the downed guy like flies and I Slap them here and there, another falls... so on, and time keeps running out so they have a choice to run or stay and risk it.

But this is for the occasions when the gates are powered up and for some reason 4 of them are still standing or something

So reassurance wouldn't do much here either.

  • I think DH is alright.

But personally I don't like any sort of endurance perks. It feels more like the devs gave up and came up with some boring shield to address some issues instead of introducing something new or interesting

Your 20 minute killer queues say otherwise.

Killers need survivors more than survivors need killers. Killer players could be replaced with bots—effectively making this game PvE—and I guarantee you it would not harm people who play survivor in any meaningful way. Now the opposite would indeed negatively affect killer players.

I don't have any 20 minute killer queue.

And having DC teammates, and survivors who just ruin games for their teammates will not help those survivors enjoy and play the game who are in there right now. So in any case punishing people for misconduct is just productive even if they punish quite an ammount of survivors for DC bans, it's overall healthy for the game.

So no, the game truly doesn't rely on "survivors" or "killers" to write the rules of the game. If there are problems or suggestions we can talk about it, but if there are people who think that "survivors" or "killers" will be able to change rules, they are very much mistaking.

  • No. PEOPLE who play survivors aren't any different than people who play killers. You almost make it sound like they are a separate cultural faction or something. Nope you have nothing. You will "fix" nothing. You aren't able to write the rules of the game, and of course if needed the punishment to salty people like you just increases if they see it fit. You can always chose to take a break and go fishing or something. Nobody really needs self entitled people like you who think they can create rules.

Sometimes it's game crashing, unexpected error, black screen, steam maintenance, etc. And it's not even that rare.

Also it does not solve anything. If I see agi starstruck range addon nurse, i just go to hook, jump neatest locker a few times and point to a hook.

Then again, I play swf and we do that as full team so no screwing over anyone left in a match...

well if it happens rarely, there is no problem waiting that 30 minutes out so rarely. If it happens often, then probably the person should fix his problems before playing anyway, right? The players are responsible for their own connection and state of the machine they want to play on. I mean if somebody disconnects often or crashes because of issues, he should address those before playing online games to begin with. BHVR or other players are not responsible for technical issues somebody has.

Oh and yes it's very rare. On steam I never had a single crash or anything at all on 2 laptops and this desktop PC for months. Aside of rare occasions when my internet just dropped, or I had to restart my router, nothing happened. And even in those cases I wasn't even in a match, it just happened rarely. I wouldn't have died from a DC penalty if I would have been playing. takes time for teh internet to come back anyway.

Yep, that should give them plenty of time to think about things and decide to drop this game entirely.

well they always have that option. DC happy people don't add anything to the game anyway aside of just being a burden for others

  • @Hannacia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3153671#Comment_3153671

I know but they could change this. There is clearly an issue of Dcing and ragequitting on first hooks. On survivors this screws up the other 3 teammates they just leave behind and for killers well its pretty much game over so might as well kill the other 3 survivors fast as possible and go back to queue. Killers that DC because they have a hard match well same thing. You screw up the game for survivors.

This issue will just get worse if nothing is done about it.

Well I think they should increase the break time from 5 minutes to 30 minutes for the first DC, and going up from there. Even internet issues some might have is pretty much their responsibility to fix.

But even as it is I see less DC people than when the temporary ban was not activated for DC. So it works.

Also it made me shake my head whenever people started new topics about DC penalty to be removed because all sort of emotional reasons they have for DC-ing.

  • @Hannacia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3153662#Comment_3153662

They could do something if they see this same person has a habit of Dcing multiple times per day or week. If this person gets a report or so about dcing or ragequitting on first hook multiple times they could give this person a 7 day ban or so. This way people that actually DC due to internet issues wont get affected.

Its getting little out of control though and something needs to be done. 5-15 minute penalty is nothing to these people that think they are entitled to easy wins.

They don't accept reports from DC related issues.

Tbh, I don't play killer right now because I've been playing shooters recently so killer is kinda boring. I'll stick to survivor some more.

I did however play some nurse and I got 2k both times. I'd say it's ok after the pause I had.

In this particular game I prefer playing killer, because it's a fast paced action game, far more than it is a horror game. But as a horror fan if it would be actual horror, with slower pace I would prefer playing survivor. For example I totally enjoyed playing survivor in F13

Thing is, it gets kinda difficult to have fun when you lose 15 games in a row, 5 gens left.

well I suppose that's the charm of playing killer. Not because the balance favors you, but your success doesn't depend on 3 other people. So eventually you win some if you are good enough.

  • @versacefeng said:

This is kind of on the same subject, but why do killers slug survivors unnecessarily and let them bleed out. It just adds on more time to their already long queues.

Killers have all sort of reasons doing that and it's perfectly within the rules of the game. while deliberate DC isn't.

  • well hell is on all sides. If survivors have a good game they troll the killer. if killer has a good game he trolls the survivors. It's not like I feel too much compassion around here. we play for fun and we play because we like the game. If not... well I have over 900 other games to play.

If sadako is quite strong, then how are PH, Pinhead, Huntress or another A-B-C killer man?

Well I don't really follow those made up tier lists by some youtubers or streamers. I go by my personal experiences in the game.

When it comes to killers I usually take a few things into account. 1. how fast I can end a chase with it. 2. how fast I can disengage a chase with it (this is something Sadako does great because if a chase drags, or they try to bait me, she can switch very fast with her teleport to the other side of the map) 3. how much control I have over the map with the killer.

PH for me is quite good also, I enjoy his time saving cages, when I don't have to carry survivors to a hook, but switching targets over the map isn't as fast. Huntress is cool, but not my thing. Hag for me is realy strong (I even prestiged her to 10). Spirit is brutal. I like wraith, he has some mean addons, just he gets boring to play after some rounds, I realy suck with Nurse, probably I played 3 times as nurse, I don't play Artist, so I have no opinion about her. Hell I even do pretty well with Trapper also.

  • Where are these patch notes? I can't find them anywhere

  • here is the thing with Solo Q. SWF is the thing the game is balanced around. They perform much better because of the unfair advantages through coms, and unless they completely remove the swf option from online games (they could keep it in custom games) the game will always be balanced around them. Simple. I kind of find it ridiculous because the mindgame is a big part of the game and swf communication pretty much denies that, feels like cheating, it will never change, unless they restrict that to custom games. Until then Solo Q will have to deal with unfair balance, because simply buffing Solo in some way compared to SWF is not going to happen

Thanks a lot, now I can say that Oppression is almost same as Ruin, but worse.

In my book is better than Ruin, since Ruin is a Hex. I love to use plenty of kick effects, probably I will get this too.... Damn now I have to prestige twins also for this

  • That will not be enough for a killswitch, I'm sure they acknowledged and will patch it soon enough, it was already reported. and actually it's not the only killer that can do that

  • My only concern is that probably there shouldn't be a basekit with the effect of a perk. If they want to change BT they can change the perk itself instead of simply adding like a 5th free perk to the kit. But I guess leave it to them to test it and see what's best.

  • Isn't literally selfish, telling people that they shouldn't play any killer they want, because you don't like it? And you call them selfish?? That's sort of the definition of a hypocrite.

  • See, these things were what I actually really enjoyed in F13. While the game had it's issues, and eventualy lots of them, the ideas and the vision around teh design were great. It felt like a horror game. While DBD is just an action game for short matches, pretty much. There you needed to find parts, refuel the car, even drive it wait for friends to get in, or plan other escape routes, call the cops, escape by a boat. in houses check drawers, bring with you some weapon, other useful stuff, block doors, so on so forth. Even killing the killer was possible although very difficult, so other options were much better.

Well this game is mainly focused on fast paced action. But I would love to see something similar to F13 with it's slower pace, immersive gameplay.

It will be a very good perk, but I can see it being used a lot in SWF's. Solo queue maybe sometimes, we will all have to see how it will when the new version gets released.

Yes of course. We can talk more about it when it goes live, it might change until then or who knows. But it was just a personal opinion that it will not become meta. From killer perspective, I don't truly see it's value against me. More like a wasted perk slot if you ask me, but maybe it depends on the killers playstyle. I just wouldn't feel much. They keep the poor guy on the hook until I catch and hook another? That doesn't take long. I truly don't get it. It just disables the person for a longer time doing nothing useful. Probably they should make it so it only works if the killer is somewhere close by like 16 meters or something, so they don't waste too much time with that thing if the killer is far away anyway.

  • I have a feeling that Reassurance will not be meta.

  • Yeah I believe Sadako is awfully underestimated. She's way better than people give her credit for. Probably some people follow some streamers and youtubers and take their fancy tier lists as granted.

  • everybody is disconnecting against nurse? I should start playing nurse then. They give me free wins before I even have a chance to show how much I suck with it

  • Maybe hope that the killer doesn't spot the key and will not bring franklins

  • @Biscuits said:

So you would make it so that for 20-30s after being unhooked, if you are downed you have DS activated until the killer picks you up, or you stand back up. This would stop the killer from being able to just slug you, and then just proxy you till they could pick you up. They would be forced to either eat the DS or go for someone else.

In a world where they did this, I would also have it so you don't have collision during this time, to prevent people from body blocking during the timer. If you had collision people would just body block for their teammates and then just run unbreakable to get back up.

Yeah I would agree with those changes.

  • @Biscuits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3150282#Comment_3150282

A 5 second DS would do a lot more than a 10 seconds baseline BT. I would also rather have a baseline DS over a baseline BT.

yeah but you see, DS activates for 60 seconds. So in order to add it as a base kit, probably DS must be reduced also to 25 seconds or something. Otherwise I don't mind if they would replace basekit BT with DS.

  • propose a change then. in your opinion 5 seconds would make a huge difference for DS?

  • @D2night said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3150241#Comment_3150241

I mean.. they could’ve easily used a couple other different options rather than needing the perk to the ground. But alright big guy whatever you say

For me it was very obvious that the perk in it's previous form will not make it to live version. And PTB was the perfect place to test that, use and abuse everything there as much as you want to show the ups and downs, the flaws of something before it's released. You are complaining about a perk which is a work in progress, not a finished addition to the live game. Even if you somehow think that killers manipulate their brains, and whisper in their ears at night when they want to sleep, to nerf it, that's not what is happening. It was nerfed accordingly as needed. on a PUBLIC TEST platform. keep that in mind alright?

  • @Biscuits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3150256#Comment_3150256

Okay you read what I said though right, they are auto hitting people off the hook. How is a another 5 seconds going to change that? They are respecting OTR by hitting you off hook, 5 extra seconds of baseline BT literally changes nothing.

they are experimenting with 10 seconds right now on the PTB

  • @Biscuits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3150238#Comment_3150238

See that's where you almost had it right. Killers slugging gave teams the ability to save that person being tunneled. DS was good because killers feared it. Now killers fear nothing, they auto hit off hook and chase you down for one health state, it is free real estate to tunnel people right now.

That's why they add basekit BT, right? So what is the problem then?

  • @D2night said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3150087#Comment_3150087

Literally in the devs notes it states that they found out that 2 survivors can keep somebody on hook against their will. “When coordinated with other Survivors, this could have been abused to keep the hooked Survivor permanently on the hook, preventing them from being sacrificed against their will.” So they nerfed it so it wasn’t “abusable”. You can keep beating around the bush but not much was needed to be tested since they have already tested kinship. They just heard the shrieks of the killers who camp and say it’s a valid strategy and adjusted it making a kinship 1.5 version. It’s not hard to understand

"They just heard the shrieks of the killers who camp" ahahah, alright buddy. Keep believing that then

  • @Biscuits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3150229#Comment_3150229

Everyone thought thana was busted on 2 killers, just because the change was bad doesn't mean the perk was busted.

yeah I agree. I didn't even play those killers, I sorta liked Thana as some sort of progressive slowdown depending how good I am at finding and harming separate survivors. Also it was an incentive for killers to not tunnel one person only, so yeah. If they wanted to nerf it probably they should have made it like it only activates on survivors which are harmed by basic attack or something. The way sloppy butcher, or Franklins work. Or change those flat percentages a bit.

DS wasn't very good in the past either in my opinion. Killers didn't pick them up right away, just chased around others or kicked some gens until the timer on the DS wore off.

  • @Biscuits said:

Apparently you do, because at least five people on here seem to agree with my buff proposal. Have you considered not picking up a survivor you just hooked <60 seconds ago, who hasn’t had done any conspicuous actions?

Of course you hadn’t, because current DS is a joke.

yeah of course at least 5 people would agree also if someone would ask for a machine gun turret above every gen that shoots survivors automatically, but that doesn't mean it's not ridiculous, or it would ever be implemented

  • while the perk changes are debated between people, (And of course it's still PTB, just wait it out to see what teh final decision is), we all can agree that the BP changes are cool, no matter which side we play more

Am I just getting unlucky with the lobbies or do people hate going against her for some reason.

Sadako is awesome. But some people love checking out streamers and youtubers making some whatever tier lists, based on THEIR opinions, without having their own opinion about a killer after actually trying it out and getting good at it.

  • If you want my opinion about myself, I'm 10 at everything!!!

    But realistically I'm probably....

    3 as survivor

6 as a killer (averaging it out because I'm probably 1 or 2 with some killers like Nurse, and maybe 8+ with some preferred killers like wraith, doc, Sadako, Hag)

  • @D2night said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3150009#Comment_3150009

They’re reasoning behind nerfing it was because “a survivor could be held hostage” but instead of making it so the hooked survivor has an opt out button or making it so that it can be used a maximum times of 2 or 3 times per person per hook stage, they made it so that it can only be used 1 time per survivor per hook (not hook stage). So in my opinion, they didn’t just nerf it “because you could hold another survivor hostage”. Anybody who can read can see that’s the case

They nerfed it because it was tested and observed on the PTB, and adjusted as needed. Not because some sort of conspiracy theory about developers siding with killers

  • @buffcoyote said:

This is another cliché rant about a match I just had. I am a survivor main, and I'd say I'm pretty decent. We were at the meat factory plant, and I was being tunneled by a Doctor. Fine, that's okay. I actually enjoy being tunneled because I like to juke/loop. I like to take it as a positive experience to see how I can improve my skill. Anyways, everything was going great. I hadn't been hit yet, and I managed to loop down to 2 gens! For whatever reason, a Meg decides to join in and body blocks me so that I get hit. I thought it was a genuine accident, that they were trying to save me from being tunneled when I didn't need it. Fine, I shrug it off and continue the chase. The Meg comes AGAIN, and this time they slam a pallet down in my face and t-bag as the killer downs me. I get placed on the hook, and NONE of my teammates except a Claudette (who was also toxic, I'll get to that) even ATTEMPTED for the save. Mind you, they were all fully healed at this point. They used my entire 2 hooks to heal each other, and do 1 gen. Now, I promise you for those who are skeptical. I did absolutely NOTHING to deserve this treatment. I was just playing the game. No t-bagging, nothing. So I spectate them and watch them do totems, the last gen etc. I ask them why in the chat would they do that to me. The Meg says "I hate rats, do you see my rank?" and the Claudette says that apparently I used all the pallets...mind you, I *literally* watched the Claudette vault from pallet to pallet the entire time after I died. There was no way I "used all the pallets". I deliberately make sure that I am conserving pallets for my teammates to use, it's the number 1 reason why I refuse to use the shack god pallet and would rather go down. The Claudette proceeds to tell me that my death was "karma bb" and then I just left. Wow. My own teammates.

well survivor toxicity is more obvious because we are playing with 4 survivor and 1 killer in a lobby. So you have higher chance to meet toxic people on the survivor side. But in the end even if some people love making this like a cultural division between players, the exact same kind of people play on both sides. So usually it doesn't make sense to talk about killers or survivors like they are somehow part of a different community. ######### are #########. You meet them all the time in multiplayer games. Especially where you are grouped up with random strangers with all sort of nonsense in their heads.

What I observed is, that many multiplayer games like this one which consists of a match eventually leads to the feeling of repetition, and repetition easilly leads to frustration, even if they don't know what they are angry about, they are grinding in a game in the way they did 1000 times before. They enjoy it less by now, and they are saltier. In their minds it turns into a job. I would suggest to those to stop playing for a while and play something else for a change of pace.
