A perk should not completely counter another perk or a killer in general. Undetectable is just that undetectable, as it stands now are useless against a team using SpineChill.
Well I don't know about that.... first of all we also have some counter perks that completely deny some things. Like it's such a joy taking lightborn when you see a flashlight swf in the lobby. And survivors have no idea who they go against, if their perk will be worth taking or not

Out of 10 matches today, 7 killers were pathetic campers/tunnelers, the patch that was supposed to help with that just made it worst. Is easier for killers to camp now, what are the devs thinking?
to some extent... never.
Because in my experience people use the word "camping" and "tunneling" for such a large variety of situations, which has nothing to do with either, that it will NEVER be addressed in any way, unless they remove the killer from the map or make a rule about killers should run away from survivors and not after them :))
My point is, that probably you call out camping and tunneling far too often than when it really is an issue. You know... cry wolf too many times.... So yeah in some ways depending on your perspective, it will never be "fixed"

Camping the hook is (in my opinion) never a justifiable play style. It is sweaty and not enjoyable for the poor survivor you are face camping.
Reassurance is a band aid on a larger problem. If they nerf this perk I hope that they make hook stages longer to match longer gen times and punish the killer for camping.
Probably they nerf it before release, because it has nothing to do with camping, since it works no matter where the killer is. So it can be used no matter what.
Imagine a killer perk also which stops the progress of a generator completely with no precondition just press a button when you are close to one for 30 seconds. and you can repeat it every 45 seconds. No matter where survivors are or what they do. How stupid would that be, right? I agree.
The problem is that it has no counter. There is nothing you can do to restart the hook timer, so it's basically a one button perk with no preconditions, no drawbacks, no counters. Regardless of what the killer does, he can be on the other side of the map also.
So basically it's not an anti camping perk, we can't pretend that it is, it doesn't require the killer to be within 16 meters or something for it to work, it requires nothing at all.
Right now survivors are abusing it on PTB for all sort of reasons, to troll eachother, to drag out the game, to simply pause the hook timer in case they are in a bad position, so on so forth. And that's great. The more they abuse it the more they show the flaw of a perk and probably the final version will be changed. It's quite normal. That's what PTB is for.

I only play 1 or 2 matches a night so I don’t get to Iri, just not enough matches in a month at that rate (I have a decent win rate but not THAT high! 😄)
1 or 2 matches a night? that's like 30-60 matches a month, right? of course you get it. That's quite a lot
-
It really depends. It's a linear grind anyway so you get there eventually no matter what... I suppose.
Probably easier for killers because how you advance is based on your own skills, while as a solo Survivor each game is a hit or miss depending who you are with and who you are against
-

Yeah, onyro is much stronger than people give her credit for I think. Especially on maps like that. I wouldn't be opposed to there being a cooldown before you can gain another curse stack after getting one, so they can't cheese condemned kills.
Nope, that would be ridiculous. Curse is so easy to remove anyway, that you hardly ever see it. I basicaly use Onryo as a high mobility stealth killer, but so far I only had the chance for curse kills 3 times. It's mostly a gimmick, and some additional thing for survivors to be slightly busy with, but nothing more
-
I'm not sure why would I want to go below my own MMR...? Isn't the whole point of competitive games to play against people who are close to me in experience and skill? What would be the purpose of just slugging newbies and ruin games without an effort.
I see absolutely no reason doing that. 35k bloodpoints? You know many play and compete for the thrill of a good game not for some stupid bloodpoints right?
This suggestion is ridiculous. It's like a 100 kilo adult male trying to show off how badass he is among kids in kindergarten.
-
My strategy aside usual smart gen defense is harming them even if I don't down most of them I usualy focus on healthy survivors forst especially in teams. they will not be able to work efficiently together, or they have to chose between staying exposed or healing up. I find that perks like sloppy butcher and franklin's helps me a whole lot against teams. SSo early game don't chase a single person for too long, find another if you can't down one person and keep harming them. it will help you over time, they waste time trying to get away, trying to heal, helping eachother, and time is what you actually need to finish all of them off. But of course be also good at chases duh.
-
It certainly is not an "anti camp" perk. People just try to defend it calling it that, basically it works no matter where the killer is on the map, no matter what he does. How stupid it would be for killers to have a perk that blocks the repair progress of the generators for 30 seconds, all they have to do just press a button running past it. Nothing required, just the press of the button, they don't even have to stop for that. No matter where survivors are, what they do, the generator's repair progress is blocked for 30 seconds. Wouldn't that be really stupid? Yeah you see my point

Reassurance means a single survivor can add up to 3 minutes to any hook stage no questions asked. Doesnt matter if you are near the hook or on the other side of the map. If some one is on death hook and the rest of the team is doing fine, its 100% better to use reassurance to keep the guy on the hook than to save them and risk getting them sacrificed.
Reassurance needs a few conditions to not be batshit insane.
This. People kept saying that it's an "anti camping perk". It is not only that in it's current state. so it should be something like only works if teh killer is somewhere nearby close to a hooked person. Otherwise they should be forced to unhook if they want to save their teammate. It shouldn't be there to completely prevent and delay sacrifice with no precondition whatsoever.
So probably people should stop defending it as "perk against campers" because obviously in it's current form is just a simple 1 button hook delay. How would it look like if killers also should just run 6 meters close to a generator and push a button to block it's repair progress for 30 seconds. No kick, nothing required. they just run past the generators, and push a button anywhere nearby while running. How stupid would that be? Now you see my point?
-
No Reassurance isn't anti-camping. It's a bad design in it's current form. It would be anti camping if it would be like.... it works only if the killer is 16 meters away from the hook or something similar. This is just nonsense hook timer slowdown. That's all it is.

He’s a killer that moves fast AND can slow survivors down. It makes sense to me
I can understand that. but what is the purpose of the large terror radius then? I mean it's so big that probably survivors on smaller maps will almost constantly hear it, I am just not sure what purpose it has. You are saying that it disadvantages him a bit in any way? I don't get it.
-
I seriously have no idea why Wesker has that huge terror radius. Sure we can use terror radius related perks then more often, but I just don't understand why he has 40m. For what reason or purpose?
-
I'm sure the game was begging you to give it another chance :P

Which killer do you pick when you want to try and have fun in a trial and mess around.
I'll go first!
Sweaty pick: Pyramid Head
Fun pick: Onryo (probably my favorite killer rn)
damn you nailed both what I'm using for fun lately.
So uh.... I got nothing else to add
-
I dunno. but did they remove some maps? I mean I don't see the slaughterhouse for example anymore...

if I like the license, I buy it, regardless of the sale. If not, I just wait for sale to keep full collection, or save up some BP for it in the rift

If everybody just stays quiet and never says anything, then nothing will ever get changed. People are entitled to voice their issues with the game, just as others are entitled to participate in the discussion and agree or disagree.
true, but probably less things need to be changed and probably some things are part of the game by design. I mean it's not like you can remove the killer's freedom of choice to kill whoever they want. In the same way killers can say that you keep tunneling the same gen, why don't you go do another! Tunneling the gen is even easier. It doesn't run away :))
-
A lot of people complain about a lot of things, of course we understand losing in a pvp game doesn't feel nice but that is not a proof for anything.
-
@Aurelle said:
Literally half of my matches tonight were full of tunneling and camping killers. I had a match where a Pig tunneled me for 4 gens, with an active trap on my head. She waited out the laughable 5 second BT every time.
Please just revert the DS stun to 5 seconds so survivors can actually have a chance against this tunneling nonsense.
nah just probably your interpretation for camping or tunneling is way too broad so you blame that in each game
-
well the game is balanced. meaning it has to be sort of survivor sided in a 4v1 pvp game, since we need 4 survivors in each lobby. That means that side has to be popular enough otherwise the game dies
-
yeah well you know how it is. camping, tunneling, gen rush, and all this nonsense are just made up things, it's not like isn't part of the game depending on teh situation. Just people like to blame stuff for not achieving the performances they thing they deserve. Mostly they don't people are simply not as good as they think they are. it's true for every pvp multiplayer game on the market, people make up all sort of words for things they dislike, and think it's in the way of their otherwise perfect gameplay. Of course losing feels unfair. That's all there is to it.
-
tunneeeeeeling caaaaampingiiing! slugging whatever. too many made up words.... just play by the rules of the game and git gud.

Sounds like what a game designer would say
Well it's true also. You are both responsible for the intended and unintended DC.
Your stable internet connection is also your responsibility
-
@Rudjohns said:

The game can't tell if it's an intended DC or a connection loss/game crash
And I'm not sure if it makes any difference. Both intended and unintended DC is pretty much the responsibility of the player.
-
Another one.... I think the DC penalty achieved it's goal... Sure the justification are always "cheaters, hackers" but we know already how often people DC for made up reasons. And here we see the victims of their own actions complaining about the DC penalty
-
Different people, different experiences. For many it's quite possible, and enjoyable.
-
Everyone is thinking it, I'm just saying it.... Pirates!
Anyway nurse wasn't changed because it doesn't need to be changed. She might confuse some people who have a hard time getting used to a killer that behaves differently than a Trapper, but that's her job

They aren't forced, they're just really pathetic people who feel the need to ruin something for others.
Yeah it's an issue which is always present unless there is some sort of penalty for their actions. Most people will do everything that is allowed in multiplayer games. You can't ask them to play nice. Of course "Remove Nurse" is not the answer. Probably remove these people. at least for a while

Do Killers really need 4 slowdowns? Seems like overkill to me.
well killers have only 4 perks they have the complete liberty to chose.
Survivors have 16 perks on 4 people in any configuration they desire.
So yes Killers can use anything they want.

Yeah, I'm convinced alot of survivors dont actually want to play this game
Say what?
You mean they are forced to play Dead by Daylight even if they don't want to?
Amazing...
-
DC penalty is the way to go, and a quite heavy one. It's not the killer's fault if some survivors behave like entitled children. If some people don't want to play, they don't have to, probably give them 24 hour ban for 2 times they DC in a day. It's not like they will remove a killer to please these people who drop their games
-
"WHY CAN’T WE DC IF THERE’S JUST TWO OF US AND I’M ON THE GROUND?"
well because "we" don't make the rules of the game. So no you can't regardless how you feel about it

Sometimes it's not something you notice, but when you play a lot of DbD you notice it a lot easier. The clip shown by OP is also on PC, I notice it constantly on PC too. They can say it doesn't exist, but it's coming from the same devs that said cross-progression was coming to the game for console and PC over 2 years ago...
I see. so you don't believe them.
Well in any case since I don't notice any of it, and I have been playing for years (with shorter or bigger pauses since I do work for a living and raise kids), I do believe them. Unless there was some sort of change recently which I don't know anything about, and I have yet to see it in my own game.
-
@ShinobuSK said:
50% of my games is nurse currently. So if it was any other killer I would be suspicious, this is just expectation come true
so basically they start a game and in each lobby they just randomly say "it's a nurse. bye" and dodge it? I'm not sure about that. They obviously knew it.

I believe it is on every platform.
I'm not sure about it. I remember they were talking about auto aim, quite long ago, years in fact, and they were quite specific that it only exists on consoles because of the usual reasons about people being clumsy with a controller. Unless that was changed. But I don't remember any patch that changed this. And I don't notice any sort of auto aim when I play
-
As far as I know auto aim only exists on consoles? Or am I wrong?
-
It's not the "new" Thanatophobia, it's the same old one just pretty much worthless, not worth for any build really

I think they'd mention if it affected healing again since they made a point of removing that debuff since it punished survivors for trying to counter the perk
I mean surely they'd mention it specifically?
no idea... well I guess we will see. I don't think it's a good change to make a perk only useful for like 2 killers in the game but we'll see how it looks

Thana affects repairing, sabo and totem cleansing
yeah I know but in the above announcement it says action speed, not gen repair speed. So that's why I'm asking. Because normally the description of thanatophobia reads gen repair speed. So is it any action or specific actions? Because it's not clear if they changed that or not. Since I can assume that it's any action, unless specified
-
Oh one question guys because I just noticed in that announcement. It says "action speed" not "generator repair speed" So basically it will work on heal speed and other things also?
-
@Sludge said:
RIP Thana Legion
well RIP any other killer who used Thana, aside of Legion and Plague
-
I voted this one up. Because I proposed the same.
The reason why they nerf Thanatophobia is because killers and Legion are a problem in some games. But this announced change makes it practically worthless
So it should keep it's regular percentage, but work only on basic attacks like Sloppy Butcher, or Franklins
-
Probably most people because of the way things were before, ended up in higher MMR than where they belong to. And now they get stomped because of that.
-
so a fixed percentage nerf instead of this would be better. or make it something like it should work only when survivors are injured by basic attacks like Sloppy Butcher for example. That would nerf the legion's ability to make so much use out of it for example. But as it is, I don't think it's a good idea because at least on paper it looks like it will become completely worthless.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
Thana is now a placebo perk for Legion. The big bonus requires all 4 survivors to be alive, and if one person is uninjured, then the slowdown is marginal.
The survivors I am matched up with usually hard split when I’m using feral frenzy, and I feel lucky if I can hit 2 people with the same frenzy (and I often get only 1 survivor per frenzy).
correct. on one hand you need to keep 4 people injured, just for this perk to be worth taking, on the other hand it's almost entirely disabled once somebody dies. You aren't able to injure 4 people anymore. So probably a fixed ammount per injured player is still the better approach, because otherwise it's a practically worthless perks for most killers, and for the rest it only might work until somebody dies. or not at all if they aren't able to find a 4th survivor to injure fast.
So if they want to nerf it, they might want to nerf the percentages of Thanatophobia, instead of making it so weak for any situation. Probably people will switch to other perks, no matter which killer they play
-
You don't start winning because of facecamping on teams with half brain. If you won by facecamping people, you would have won easily in any other way also. I mean I'm not against proposals to fix "facecamping" I just played long enough to know what works and what doesn't. Putting equal pressure on the entire team makes me win games much faster and much more effectively than if I would use these pointless facecamping methods. Not to mention it would be boring as hell sitting around instead of hunting.
Some people might think it's good to hang around the hook and piss off beginners but in high MMR matches, you most likely lose doing that.
-
I personally don't think it's a good idea. It will be practically worthless on most killers.
If they feel the need to change it, probably nerf the percentage in the way they want while keeping it a fixed ammount for each injured players
-
I only saw RPD on youtube. probably I will burn an offering just to see it already
-
Probably you guys call out camping and tunneling far more often than you should. It just makes it pointless to talk about it. I mean I saw people calling out camping and tunneling for every single reason in the world, as long as they were not able to escape. I mean their entire team danced around me (basically they camped me right from the start) no matter who I chased and when I killed them all, they were upset about me supposedly camping because.... I don't know. I didn't run away from survivors dancing around me?
