Explain to me how these random 4 survivors have enough information about you to DDOS you

You don't know how that kind of thing works mate

Yeah my point also. They keep going on about this happening to them so many times, but of course they have no proof that it was DDOS, just probably it was their connection acting out. But sometimes people want to blame others for even a bad weather

  • I do take a break whenever another game gets me hooked. Eventually I remember DBD also and return for some matches again. Games are fun, not jobs

I guess I need to explain this for the 50th time, I am using starlink, I can legit track my data of what is currently going on. I experience all day, completely fine internet, then as I dc I get a UNKNOWN ERROR with insane packet loss.

You don't understand the underground community of these players man it exists

I'm just saying I never saw it in 5 years since I'm playing this game, and it's hard to believe that you encounter it often because people specifically target you only

  • @Crowman said:

If you lose connection to the dbd server, you get d/c'd from the game. You don't need to target the dbd server to force someone to d/c. All the attacker needs to do is send enough packet data to disrupt their computer so they can't handle all the requests including ones from the dbd server.

send it where? to the servers? that would make them disconnected, not their target. I would imagine they should flood the target IP somehow with packet data which isn't possible if the connection is handled by the server, so they have to go through that first. Unless the game is connecting direct peers together.

Anyway, I don't believe OP was actually DOS-d. It never happened to me in 5 years, and there is someone "constantly" targetted? Probably a connection problem on his end

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3188319#Comment_3188319

Well if we want to get technical. He's being DoS. DDoS would mean multiple hosts are attacking him when it's likely just a single host. And the attacker can crash his connection to the dbd server forcing him to d/c.

Yeah but technically how would he be DOS-d then if he connects to the server to play and this game isn't peer to peer?

    Richard Trager (Outlast)

    Piggsy (Manhunt)

wow! Somebody who remembers Manhunt! We are getting old!

  • Is DDOS realy a thing? I mean we aren't directly connecting in peer to peer, we have a server connection, unless they DDOS the entire server....

number #1 or #2 most used survivor perks according to some stats

at least one or two dead hards in every lobby same with a lot of streamer lobbies.

this perk is slowly becoming as frustrating to deal with as old dh, and getting robbed out of hits when using powers that don't allow you to wait it out like wesker's bound , trickster's knives or when survivors force a lunge by going to a pallet feels awful.

if we want to improve the killer experience second chance perks and items/addons should not exist outside of dealing with camping/tunneling.

if dead hard is back to being a very popular perk it should be further nerfed imo it's not as bad as its pre nerf version but it isn't exactly balanced.

first of all, don't worry about it too much, it's not something hard to deal with at all.

Second: If it is too popular, and speedrunning it's way to meta as you said, that should scare survivors shitless, not killers, because that means eventually they nerf it because it's way too popular. Just relax, dead hard isn't such a big deal.

  • the game offers bloodpoint incentive for the side which requires more players for shorter lobby wait times. For example depending on the time of the day, I get Killer 100% BP incentive for my region. Other times it changes to survivor. It really depends what side people play more at any given time and the incentive is there to attract players to the other side for a bit more balanced lobbies.

Of course there is a higher chance to get 100% BP incentive for survivors overall, because for each killer we need 4 survivor players. Even if at a current time twice or 3 times as many survivors play than killers, it's still not enough, since you need 4 times as many for it to be even

I thought I would play a game real quick and this is what happened. It was a train wreck from the very beginning. It was Legion, an oppressive legion, that was stacking so many perks we couldn't heal. The Clown perk, Thanatophobia, Sloppy Butcher, and I can't remember the 4th perk but it was very strong.

I feel like there should be serious discussions at this point about the constant survivor nerfing because I have no idea how stats can tell the devs something that does not match reality. The kill stat target is not healthy for the game. MMR is also not working because survivor having to survive is too out of reach. Killers are winning with ease and there are numerous complaints about how easy killer is now.

We need to stop catering to bad killers, neither should we be balancing around 4 survivors playing perfectly. The following screenshot is reminiscent of what happens most of the time. The buffs to killer have been too much and the nerfs to survivor have been disastrous. There is a reason survivors are leaving because nobody wants to play an unwinnable role. It should be the highest priority at this point to revert some bad changes. Make survivor more fun. The changes to perks lately seems to make me believe that people are playing the game like a job and not for entertainment. As someone else said about Dead Hard, "how is it fun to have to hit a 0.5 second Dead Hard, we are not robots".

The skill floor (the skill required to play) is way too high for survivor and it is too low for killers.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WVF43KJHI2A6/bad-start.png

"The Clown perk, Thanatophobia, Sloppy Butcher, and I can't remember" You don't even know what the killer was running, only that you had a bad game and the killer beat you. Which means it's the game's fault because you would have won otherwise 100%. And you ran straight to the forums to complain about your bad game. Yeah I know these posts. You are just salty because you lost, and your team was outplayed by a better player. Come on now...

There's no way to fix this damn game without calling out the devs, so we just started venting our frustrations to one another.

name one single multiplayer game where people aren't raging on the forums about devs who supposedly never fix their game! I'm waiting :)) So probably childish venting is not actually a constructive discussion. And while problems do exist in games, people quite often tend to overstate them. Especially those who played for hundreds or thousands of hours one particular game and by now it's not as fun as it was at the beginning, and they are becoming similar to frustrated factory workers

I think if there are only 2 people left and the exit gates aren't powered. If a person is left slugged for 20-30 seconds, the hatch should spawn. Slugging for the 4k takes very very little brain power, and it is universally hated by every single survivor player. It needs a change.

escaping through the hatch also needs very little brain power, and it's also universally hated by killers, so it doesn't need to change. See? Simple as that

  • Oh hell with it. I only do killer challenges which usualy is "Kick their ass" something I do anyway without the challenge

  • sooooo basically nerf every single Killer regression perks? Because that's what you progressively do.

okay, I'm game, so let's add the same thing for survivor side:

4 alive, repair speed is only 50%

3 alive, repair speed is 75%

    2 alive, normal repair speed

1 alive, no changes, since there is the possibility to escape through the hatch, or if the killer closes it, the gates get powered up anyway.

  • Well every competitive game where people play against eachother, has overall a toxic community. Check every other forums. League of Legends, Overwatch, you name it. The majority of any playerbase simply can't maturely handle the stress of competition, and they are just salty.

  • @Cybil said:

The only time I intentionally dc is if I'm drunk and it's obvious we're in for a bad solo queue match. Even then I have to be pushed towards it. Like I'm on a bad teammate streak or something. Luckily, I don't drink often enough for it to be a real issue.

If I find you in game, and you are drunk, I will let you escape, but the booze stays with me!!

  • well though luck. Anyway, killer has the freedom to chose how and when and in which order he wants to kill survivors. They don't usually play by the survivor guidebook. So be smart and work as a team, his job is to kill you anyway. If you fail to work together... well, it is what it is.

Anyway this "camping" and "tunneling" probably is more often used as an excuse for a bad game on the survivor side than how often it actually happens. Yeah I know you would have won every single game in your life if it wasn't for the supposed camping and tunneling

  • @prion11 said:

I don't DC, but I almost did once. 2 cheating megs tried to lock me in the gen basement on badham by "hooking" themselves in the doorways so I couldn't get out.

I pretended to be AFK for 10 minutes and then smacked one of them the second they got bored and "unhooked" themself lmfao obviously they escaped, but it was hilarious

I got an entire team of cheaters like that today. It was my first time playing pinhead, and I actually didn't disconnect, it gave me a lot of time to practice Pinheads powers on the cheating gang. They were hooking themselves in the air, flying around, impossible to down, insta healing, teleporting, everything in the book. I opened the gate and they ended up wasting too much time trolling since endgame collapse got them, so they hooked themselves making it impossible to die. Then few died trying to get out, the last one teleported out briefly trying to escape, and the game even showed that he escaped before it auto changed to sacrificed.

At least they gave me bunch of time to practice pinhead and use them for target practice. But probably BHVR really needs to fix their anti cheat measures

  • In my experience mostly new people deliberately facecamp, or just protect the hook like their life depends on it. They will learn eventually that it's far easier and faster destroying the survivor team without wasting time like that

  • @Johann84 said:

I was banned for 24 hours because of internet connection is that fair??

Yes, that's fair. Your connection is your responsibility. Even if you aren't doing it on purpose, it makes no difference since the result for your team is the same. You are disconnecting and gone. So it's perfectly fair for you to be banned until you fix your problems. The game requires a stable internet connection to play online.

  • I don't know. It's just a childish nonsense behavior really. And it requires two things: 1. someone to believe that it's a huge insult, and 2. another person who agrees to be offended by it. Makes me laugh each time when I see it. Seriously guys even this topic makes no sense.

  • Just give it time guys, for people to get used to everything. It just came out. If indeed is a problem, I'm sure it will be nerfed as necessary. Things constantly evolve around here.

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3174410#Comment_3174410

If you keep protecting that 3 gen area eventually you get someone down. SoloQ is just 4 solos trying to do that last gen not team.

If they are good enough, you will never take anyone down. You can't afford to chase more than 10 seconds because 3 people will pop your gen. so it's a wild goose chase unless they aren't that good. But in that case probably there shouldn't be 4 survivors standing by then. Plus if you camped 3 gens the whole game, most have 2 hook states left, you are making it far more difficult for yourself than it needs to be. So 3 gen camping from the start is not worth it by any means.

  • @Friendly_Blendette said:

Pretty much like the current incentives work only say Twins would have it or Hag or whatever killers are least played at the time in order to try and promote killer diversity in matches.

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3173998#Comment_3173998

Sometimes killers camp 3 gen right at start and never leave. Yeah survivor fault. Swf can somewhat counter it but good luck in SoloQ doing that. Even very bad killer can win 3 gen situation if he uses eruption, overcharge and call of brine.

if killer camps 3 gens at the start and never leave he will be destroyed by a 4 man team. can't possibly do 3 gen against a full team. he needs to kill someone way before the survivors end up at their last gen to pop. So yeah he will leave, or pretty much just lose the game probably in a sweathy desperate attempt to protect last 3 gens against 4 survivors

  • He wasn't buffed, just some things were adjusted to work as they should have to begin with. No buffs or nerfs happened in this patch. It's a bugfix patch basically

  • @dictep said:

I know, they only buff Weskwer, but perhaps they could remember survs play (played) this game too.

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3170962#Comment_3170962

People don't DC if the "chance" to win is there. It is not entitlement, but fairness. Big difference.

Oh come on. It's an online game. salty people will DC for anything and everything. No matter what, they will come up with any number of reasons to do it.

Many DC-ed the first moment I downed them before the DC penalty was there. The game barely even started. So they can come up with any sort of excuses, or shifting blame to someone else, but in the end of the day they DC because they are childish and salty, probably need a break anyway. DC penalty does that.

  • @nValentine said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3170493#Comment_3170493

but that's the point of the perk tho, it punishes campers for camping. one survivor doing absolutely nothing should be in your favor so i don't see what's the problem of increasing the range and duration? you can simply pressure gens and other survivors

It's not the killers who are abused by it. Probably the hanging survivors are. And you explained also why killers aren't affected, so I don't need to repeat that. I never cared about Reassurance

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3170495#Comment_3170495

If the game felt more fair and there was a chance to win, those survivors wouldn't DC.

the usual excuses. Sure. Yes they would. Every time they feel frustrated and entitled to do it. That's why DC penalty exists.

  • The game is already too saturated with gen repair speed and gen regression perks. We need new ideas here for a change of pace instead of playing tennis with gens

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

Nope. DH's perfect how it is now-- rewarding done right, punishing done wrong, locks you in the animation an extra half second so you can't guarantee a pallet or window.

yeah I see DH as a "parry" window in the game now. takes good timing to block the hit, if you are off, you get hit

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3170258#Comment_3170258

Autodeadhard can be countered by missing hit. The program does not notice if you hit is going to land or miss. But the actual dead hard should work if you pressed it before killer hit that is unacceptable and should never happen in competive game like dbd. Even I hate the new dh it's better than old one if used right.

And.... how would you know this? And why are we talking about cheat programs now?

  • Well Servers cost money and the game was around for many years. Plus every company works for profits, it's not a charity. Take those skins as means to pay the subscription cost for an online game, on a voluntary basis.

As for buying them... sure I buy it If I really like something. I'm picky anyway, so it has to be something I really like

  • @BlazePyron2 said:

I have no character over 9 prestige why am i getting matched with someone with 34 prestige nea, why bother putting me into that lobby, i'm going to just start dodging if i see prestiges over 10 cause it's never worth it

It would make absolutely no sense. You can prestige with BP without ever playing your character, your mmr wouldn't change based on how well you are performing over a period of time with a character, only based on some number that can't go down, only up?

Well anyway it's not going to happen. I'm just telling you the reason why not.

And if you dodge games based on that nonsense number, it's your problem entirely. That has nothing to do with how good people are

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

Reassurance looks like a great perk, but as long as it doesn't get the BT treatment and becomes basekit with the perk resetting the timer/adding time to it for when it restarts, it's not going to do anything about camping.

The game already has several mechanics that show us the game knows exactly WHAT a player is doing WHERE, so having it that the hook timer just stops when a killer is moping around a hook. (likewise insidious could just stop working near an occupied hook).

oh so many things could be basekit I suppose, because people don't like to use perk slots for them

Killers should have NOED for basekit, Bamboozle basekit, Pain Resonance basekit, I suppose. Why would those need a perk slot to use, right?

Or maybe just deal with the fact that pretty much everything needs a perk slot to use. There are no free meals. Basekit BT was already a nice handout

I thought he was awesome especially in inferno mode. He constantly dodges your attacks. His appearances were scripted but im not sure how thats a bad thing in my opinion

Yeah I liked the new one also. Just when we talk about Nemesis, he wasn't present through the game that much as he was in the old one. Sure there were some intense encounters here but it was just for a short while before another scripted encounter and he basically didn't hunt us through the map so much like he did in the old game. And of course Clock Tower part was missing also... so I just missed the style of the old Nemesis. as the big guy who is always looking for you

So he was "tunneling" us far more in the old one (if we use DbD language) :))

In the new one I enjoyed the Hospital part very much, but the rest of the areas were a bit underwhelming, although we had no Nemesis in the hospital, it felt more like Resident Evil 3.

I argue it's harder because grades reset back to 20 instead of a bracket now. And MMR and grades is a weird combination.

Yes, that's true. Just nowadays it's not even something I pay attention to since mmr is not tied to it, and it simply... grows on it's own, while we play. I only play like 2-3 games each day nowadays anyway, when I have a bit of time

  • Congrats!

Well anyway nowadays it's just a linear grind. You can't lose grades

  • Of course it's difficult. That's the point of the perk. Those generators would pop on rapid fire if it was easy

  • because most of the encounters were scripted, and areas where he was actively chasing and patrolling were very few. While in the old one he was tunneling quite a bit :P

Posting screenshots of a 4k means nothing because we don't get to see what leads up to that lol. (Could have slugged/campped/tunnled etc)

Like, you can like the killer, you can find her fun, but she's not good, no matter how you try to rationalize it

Well I am comfortable playing and winning with her, that's all. And you don't see even on the screenshots me being blamed for slugging or camping. But of course you can imagine anything you want and add it to the story lol.

In any case, Since I main her lately, I play against swf-s quite often also, fully equipped, ready to make my game difficult. And I still enjoy playing Sadako, and I don't really fail much in my games. I'm not sure why you dislike if people say they are doing well with this killer, you don't need to jump to conclusions, if you don't perform well playing Sadako. Not everyone is you.

As I said, the only thing I would like to change is probably her directional lullaby, because that's a bit annoying, but otherwise I'm happy with this killer and my winrate using Sadako

Do you realy think that I would main her nowadays if she would be that bad? What am I? A voluntary self punisher in your opinion? :))

  • In any case she's quite cool. Probably not the best killer I can down fast with but certainly far from worse and she can be used in many ways. She even has a basekit whispers with the TV-s playing a video when survivors are around (the tv-s are playing static when they are not), so you know where to look for them

If you're not having issues on other maps, you're not playing against good survivors. (Or you're camping/tunneling real hard)

I have the same issues like I have with any other killer. and I manage them.

and not playing against good survivors? what do you mean? You think Sadako's mmr is turned off and I always get "bad survivors" in order to win my games? It doesn't really make any sense, does it?

I'm getting good survivors all the time since my own winrate is quite very high with Sadako. Don't worry I'm aware who I'm playing against. If you enjoy playing a killer, you can get quite good managing it's drawbacks

  • well we have fun though. watching noobs like you quit the game and eat a DC penalty. Probably your teammates don't find it that funny though. Sucks to be them. You are just not good at the game, and with that attitude, you will never be. You are just a salty guy who is among the first to die in almost every game. Your fun isn't more important than anyone elses. Probably killers also have enough fun catching you and watching you lose your sht

I never used Bamboozle... but now I really have to. For guys like this
