  • Yeah, a surv went up there against me last night...then I also went right up there and hit them in the face.

    Kind of a non-issue imo.

Invisible killers are on slightly different level than stuff like that.

  • In descending order:

    1. Myself (either just poor play, or being too merciful as a killer)*
    2. RNG/Map
    3. SBMM (teammates for surv)

*many times I'm not really chasing wins as killer, and play laid back. I play harder as a surv out of respect for my teammates

-"The "you need to tunnel to win" sentiment in the meta is so overblown."

Ah yes that's why Otz - who is always reluctant to tunnel repeatedly says : I have to tunnel this person out to win.

When the 9k hour professional streamer says that - it's a solid indicator.

When almost all the really try hard competitive mind set streamers tunnel - you know it's necessary.

Where it is not necessary is mid/low MMR which is where most people play.

Players like Otz and many other 8-10K hour players might need to, sure. But they're not representative of the vast majority of the player base, or virtually any of the people on this forum. Plus Otz isn't the voice of god, there others as good as he who don't share that opinion.

The player base is loaded with people who think they are better than they are, and that they are somehow they are playing a different game than everyone else.

Plus Otz was largely mostly talking about situational tunneling, or at least that's how I interpreted it.

When it comes to the notion that you have to start every game with a tunnel to win at any MMR (again, "top level" is a myth), I say BS. Of course doing so increases your chance of winning, but it will do so against a potato squad or a seal team, but most often isn't necessary.

I'm not saying don't do it situationally (like when the game is starting to slip away from you), but going into every match with a quick tunnel as your gameplan is generally just overkill.

The killer dont have to care about the fun of the survivors. The survivors wont care for your fun as killer.

No one has to, but more people should.

Does stomping all over people who never really had a chance make you feel better? I know it doesn't make me feel like I accomplished anything but demoralizing someone(s) who were mismatched.

It's not great that it is incumbent on us to make up for BHVR's limp d MMR system, but it's better for the game when people play with a little discretion and thoughtfulness.

And for the record, I have seen consideration shown between players quite a bit. Nowhere near most of the time, but it's not unheard of.

All I am saying is maybe just let a match breathe for a minute before going into stone cold killer mode, so see if it's even called for.

A killer playing for the 4K does not mean they 4K every game. Just like survivors playing to escape don't always escape.

But playing for the 4K at all costs is the problem. Coming to each match with the hammer down just isn't fun. It's not fun for me as a killer, and it's certainly not fun for the surv team, especially when, as they often are, not a cracked squad.

Of course the killer isn't going to 4K every game, no one does that. But feeling the match out for a minute before going full bore isn't the worst thing, is it? Most times you'll find you can win without being a sweatlord.

  • @Cassiopeiae said:

I'd say it's a mix of MMR/SBMM just casually not existing and the fact that the game does not get many new players at all.

Is that actually true, though? I feel like new players are coming into the game all the time (and getting matched with me somehow). At least one of ever 4 games I play as killer I am facing a squad of total babies (you can tell), and they are sprinkled in everywhere.

But the new player experience must be rough at this point; busted MMR, borderline ptw economy, etc. I feel for them.

  • @DBDVulture said:

Most of the main streamers have taken to a hard tunneling strategy. They either only chase two people or they just chase one person out of the game.

I do the same every time.

I mean play how you want, but it's really not necessary most of the time. The "you need to tunnel to win" sentiment in the meta is so overblown.

I'm not saying hook everyone one at a time in order or anything, but just drumming someone out of the game asap early in the game to increase your chances of winning because of some misguided notion that you can't win unless you do is both excessive and lame. If it's a sweat squad, sure. But going into every game with that mindset just kinda sucks, imo.

But to the OP: no, I haven't noticed an increase. Like anything else, there are some days you might see it happen a bunch and it'll feel like a trend, but sample sizes are a thing. I generally don't think it's as big a problem as it is made out to be.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

It just needs a complete rework imo, there's no fixing its current effect.

Yeah, there are three places BHVR can go with DH from here:

    1. Leave it as is
    2. Change it completely
    3. Remove it (not gonna happen)

You can't retain the effect and nerf it meaningfully without making worthless (which would be fine, really. getting it tfo of the meta would be healthy).

  • @C3Tooth said:

Killer is more stressful because you never know if you're going against a bully squad. Some squads would bully at the beginning, some squads only tbag and clicky at gate when they know they win.

But as Killer you can control if the match is fun or not. Because Im sure its not fun to be camped/tunneled, and its not fun to sit on Gen watching a teammate being tunneled.

As survivor, you dont get stress, but doesnt mean you would get fun.

The spectre of bully squads is always there, but the reason surv is less stressful is simply down to it being 4v1.

As a surv, you are going to have whole chunks of the match where there is no direct pressure being applied to you, but to your teammates. Downtime as surv is chill af.

As killer, unless they survs are abject potatoes, you have to be in "go" mode the entire match. No downtime.

Of course there are going to be matches as a surv where you are facing a cracked Nurse or Blight, but outside of those, there's a lot of chilling out in game.

    @moondos said:

Got about 700+ hours on killer and recently thought I should probably give survivor a go, here's what I have discovered.

    • It is SO much less stressful to play.
    • Interactions with other survivors has made me laugh heaps.
    • Doing your job as a survivor is easy and almost relaxing.
    • Looping killers is not difficult. Wasting 40-60 seconds of the killer's time is a little too easy.

Overall I think I've had more enjoyment playing survivor. Probably because I'm not having to tryhard and control 4 other players, just the one.

Nothing really beats the rush of beating a 4v1 but survivor is actually pretty fun.

Any other Killer mains find this to be true for them?

Yeah, my first 700-800 hours of DBD I was a killer main. Trying surv was a revelation (I could actually relax while playing), and I have played more surv than killer since that time.

But bear in mind that for you, surv is as easy as it is ever going to be right now; you're starting from the bottom of surv MMR, but bringing all those hours of game sense developed as a killer with you. Eventually SBMM will lock you in (do the degree that DBD's MMR ever does, anyway), and it will get harder. But it will always be less stressful than killer.

But regardless of the role, what really determines how much the game stresses you out is how you define winning, and how much importance you place on meeting your win condition.

For me, I am generally not caught up with that as much as most, but I do have a competitive streak and it's easier to let go of that as a surv, because I know I can't control my teammates. As killer, I feel like because I can't diffuse blame to any teammates, the outcome of the match is more reflective of my skill than it is as surv.

Now I don't think anything in DBD requires much skill, and most of the game depends on MMR, RNG, and map balance (ha!), but I am still human and ego sneaks in where it shouldn't.

  • I picked up the Skull Merchant with shards, got her to prestige 1 for the perks, got the adept (second game, thanks to potato survs).

Will I use her again? Not anytime soon. Have yet to see her as a surv, which is highly unusual for a new killer in their first week of release.

    @Marik1987 said:

This killer is way worse than Knight ever was. All she can is camping a 3-gen. Thats it.

The Knight has actually grown on me a bit. Not great, but there's something there you can spin into fun. I don't see that with the SM.

  • Not to sound like an echo in the room, but how does this change anything? If you're looking to harass the killer with noise notifications, spamming a window or locker are going to be more efficient, and they're things that have always been there.

  • If one of my teammates doesn't put down a boon in the opening minutes of the match, I'm going to view the totems as fair game.

It can be a waste of time, but it can also circumvent NOED. If the match is sweaty I won't bother, but if it's kinda slow, I will. And in my experience, less skilled killers tend to run NOED, and often the matches where NOED makes an appearance are the ones you have time to burn.

And as others have pointed out, there are perks that require you to cleanse totems.

  • @Wexton said:

This post is gonna be a short one, I think they're stupid. Everybody shouldn't be sent to a map because one person wants to play on it, that's dumb. I love getting sent to the same map multiple times in a row because somebody brought the same offering, such good design behaviour.

Now if I were to change them, I'd either flat out remove them, or I'd make them to where they'd decrease your chances of going to a certain map. Not by much, but enough to make a slight difference. I'd rather just remove them though tbh.

    I generally agree.

The only time I use them is if I've been stuck in some loop and keep getting sent to the same realm (usually f'n Coldwind) and I just want to get out of it.

Or if I want to play SM Myers, I'll sometimes burn an indoor map offering.

But most often they are played with ill intentions. The game would be better off without them.

  • @Quizzy said:

I literally leave you after i unhook you when i see you have a medkit tbh

Just because they have one doesn't mean it has any charges remaining.

    @Trollinmon said:

So medkits are insanely broken. If you actually look at what medkits do you see why survivors will do what they are doing. What makes medkits insane is that you don't require to find and have someone heal you. If it takes me 16 seconds to find someone and then 16 seconds for them to heal me then that took 48 seconds of gen efficiency to get healed(16x2+16). A medkit in comparison is 16 seconds with no heal speed. So if you are removing the finding part/massively reducing it then saving the medkit is usually ideal.

Yeah, they're busted af. Which is why survs would be foolish not to run them. I've said before, but medkits stand alone in utility among surv items. Unless you're trying to genrush or doing a blind challenge, there's really no reason to run anything but a medkit.

    @DBD78 said:

It's vital for a solo player to have one heal left for the end game. And how can I save you in the end if I'm injured and killer is proxy camping?

For sure. And if a killer hooks someone in the end game, they're going to be at least proxy camping, because there is really nothing else for them to do at that point. I hate having to leave someone on hook, but if I'm injured and there's no one else, what else can you do?

  • Loosely keeping track of the survs you've hooked is pretty easy, honestly.

But in cases where you have multiple survs with the similar cosmetics, it can be easy to unintentionally tunnel.

And when a squad all goes identical? I don't even try, I just down and hook whoever I see. TBH, if a team does that, they have zero standing to get mad about it.

  • BHVR doesn't do well with reasonable nerfs, they just move straight to murder. For killers and perks.

And in the case of Pig, they desecrate the corpse.

  • If a teammate is near me, I'll let them heal me an conserve my charges. Most of the time they want to do it, ostensibly for the altruism points.

If no one is in my immediate area, I'll use the kit.

One thing that is annoying is when the game is reaching the end, and/or a teammate's gen is nearly done and they run to me and clamor to let them heal me because they are that thirsty for the points. I've even had standoffs where I pointed at the gen and they refuse to continue repairing it because they are hell bent on healing me.

Sometimes I think they think I am using Self-Care, but who the hell runs Self-Care anymore?

  • I'm not obsessed with pips, and I certainly won't play like a selfish sweatlord to secure an extra pip, but I would like to hit that iri1 and get the BP that comes with it.

And it does feel crappy to be punished because someone(s) DC'd, killed themselves on hook, etc. I won't get irate about it or anything, but if you're going to have the system in place, it should be fair.

I think a baseline solution is simple: if someone DCs, or dies on hook without attempting to hit a skill check, no one else in that match can de-pip.

Actually...yes. I'd be very happy to have longer waits in exchange for a better game. Especially for killer, since if they get an MMR glitch of a game, they're trapped in there for the whole game, even when it's very obvious they have no chance of winning.

Would you really, though? Where is the cutoff for the length of time you would be willing to wait?

I think a lot of people would be willing to wait in theory, but actually waiting 30min+ for a match is another story.

I for one would not. I get of work and want to get some games in. Would I prefer those games be competitive? That I'm not matched with either potatoes or gods of sweat? For sure, but I'd much rather play mixed bag games than barely play at all.

And as for the few people who are actually at the top end of the MMR range? If matchmaking were accurate they'd be waiting an eternity to play. We got a little taste of that during the SBMM tests they ran, and it suuuucked.

And then you have the gorilla in the room few people want to acknowledge - that skill in this game (what little is even needed is debatable, but it's really not much) is nearly impossible to measure in any meaningful way.

I think people calling for truly accurate SBMM in DBD would be like the dog that actually catches the car and gets a mouthful of spinning wheel: they may not actually want what they think they want. IMO truly accurate MMR would kill DBD; something in the middle would be best.

  • Okay, think of it this way: after a quick skimming of all my characters, since the new prestige system went live I have accrued a total of somewhere in the neighbor hood of 160-170 prestige levels across the all characters. I did this by playing the game in the exact same way I did before the new system, and spending blood points the same way as before (except more economically, I guess).

I'm not doing anything substantively different than I ever have (which is spending way too much time playing DBD).

Now I don't have any P100 characters, but that is simply a choice I made to spread the points around, because I have adhd brain and have never really stuck with a main. But if I did, I would have hit P100 as a matter of course, by just playing the game.

It's not difficult, that's just a perception issue. It's just a time investment.

Again, that's not to say P100 isn't worthy of reward, because I think that dedication to a single character should be celebrated by giving something that highlights that character (like a unique skin).

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

Prestige 100 is a pretty difficult thing to reach, however, the rewards for reaching P100 are simple just an emblem by your name changing to look similar to that of a Bloodpoint (or Bloodgem?, who knows really).

Even though I do not have P100 on any of my character, I think it would be neat if characters had some sort of physical cosmetic reward(s) for reaching P100. Something they can physically show off in-game for their hard work and dedication.

As for BHVR, it would be an overall good idea to do this, since it might draw players in to dedicate to a character or even multiple characters for an extended period of time (which can boost player retention and playtime), which we all know is very much needed (it looks good to shareholders and investors).

I don't think it's difficult (all you have to do is play the game and put all your BP into one character), but it does require a level of commitment to a single character that feels like it should be rewarded.

And a unique cosmetic set seems like the obvious and appropriate choice.

  • When the bonus is 100% on killer it's gonna attract people who don't normally play killer, and inexperienced killers will often tunnel and camp because it's easy.

Doesn't seem like a mystery to me.

Also, the bonus seems like it's 100% on killer like 90% of the time nowadays, at least in my region.

This is not a thing. I have never seen a Killer brag about being high MMR and that their games were too tough.

Wut. It absolutely is a thing.

At the very least, many killers who win a lot will use the myth of "TOP LEVEL" MMR to explain when they don't. "This is just how it is at this level" or "people who don't play at TOP LEVEL just don't understand" type of stuff.

Tru3talent is probably the king of this phenomenon, and he's not remotely alone. Even in the general community you hear people excuse their losses by saying top MMR is soooo unforgiving, or something like that.

Again, being "unfun to play against" and having an audio bug that in all honestly isn't that bad, isn't Killswitch worthy.

Yeah, it's pretty much that she's just old Spirit, occasionally. Saying she should be killswitched is silly.

  • Flashlights are very effective against inexperienced killers. In my early days as a killer player, they were the bane of my existence; some of my most vivid DBD memories were facing flashlight bully squads, and how frustrating it was. I hated flashlights with the white hot intensity of a thousand burning suns.

The beginning of the end of my flashlight frustrations was watching this video:

    https://youtu.be/NKhVtADbjlo

That isn't to say you can become invulnerable to flashlights (sometimes you'll need to pick up in the open), but I would say I get blinded 90% less than I did in my early days. Maybe 95% less since they killed the locker save.

And getting blinded at pallets can be annoying, but two things to consider:

    1. The surv is wasting time they should be using to get distance; they'd be much better served just hauling ass to another tile
    2. You can still hear them, so they're not just disappearing like they think they might be

As a surv, I only run a flashlight for a tome challenge (and yes, I'll use it at a pallet then because it's dead easy), or if I happen to pick one up in a match. Honestly, I'm not sure why anyone would run anything other than a medkit, as those stand head and shoulders above all other surv items in terms of utility (unless you are in a genrush squad).

Flashlights are just not strong, and the majority of flashlight users' attempts to blind you anywhere but at a pallet are laughable wastes of time. Especially so when you have those survs who waste time following the chase waiting for an opportunity that may never come, and that they almost always blow if it does. Occasionally you'll run into a squad that is experienced and super coordinated with saves, but for me that is like a once every few weeks occurrence.

They're really just not all that good.

  • Not with actual money. I'll buy the characters with shards, but that's it.

  • That's silly. She is middle of the pack in skill floor, at least. Not nearly the most, but definitely not "no skill". You just sound salty saying that.

As for me, I'd ditch Nurse (shocking, I know), simply because I think BHVR having to balance around her uniqueness leads to a waste of time and resources.

On the surv side, I want to say Feng Min just to watch the world burn, but in reality it'd probably be Ace. I just hate his smug face.

  • I play "nice" (not tunneling or slugging, going out of my way not to drum the weak link out, backing off when I am on pace for a super quick win) in like 90% of my killer matches. Does it bite me in the ass? All the time. I can't even count the number of times I let off the gas because it seemed like the survs were in over their head, and I ended up with a draw or loss because I was wrong, or because I went too easy for too long.

Do I regret it? Almost never. I don't want to step on people; I'd much rather get a fun, quasi-competitive 2K against potatoes that should have been an easy 4K than get a 4K where I never gave them a chance to breathe.

Sometimes when I absolutely use kid gloves on a team and they BM me (some players are so clueless they don't recognize when they're being spared) I feel a twinge of regret, but not often.

I love it when people say numbers game yet the last 20 matches I played as survivor were exactly like op except one killer kept harassing me in PS chat to the point I had to block and report them. Numbers game is never going to be a strong argument

Sorry that was your experience, but I experience stuff like that maybe one of every 10 games, where as at least one survivor will act toxic in at least a third of my killer matches. I don't get bent out of shape about it, it just is what it is. A certain percentage of people are dicks.

Is your experience more represtative than mine?

    It's all anectotal.

And the numbers game thing is just a statistical thing, as there are four times as many survs than killers, so you are more likely to be BMed by one than a killer in a given match. It's not an "argument", it's just reality.

Unless you actually believe that 4X+ aholes play killer than survivor, that the role attracts aholes while surv attracts more civil people, in which case I would say you are blinded by bias.

Tell me you don’t play Killer without telling me you don’t play Killer.

Yeah, anyone who says only one side is toxic only plays one side.

And there is stuff each side does that really invites it. That said, it is mostly a player issue, not as role issue. Things like carrying your angst from one match to the next is the result of being immature and petty.

Why are people toxic to begin with? Could be a lot of things, but my bet is that most of the time they are just carrying their irl BS into the game, and it is contagious. It's all a manifestation of the boundary aggression that is essentially everywhere in the online world.

Now after 3K+ hours divided between both roles, I do think you are more likely to be subjected to toxicity from survs than killers (mostly because it's a numbers game), but when it comes from killers, it's most often a power trip thing. The thing about that that is that you can feel super powerful as a killer, or totally powerless. Experiencing the latter can definitely feed indulging in the former (in immature people).

  • Yeah, I run it on occasion (if I see a few high prestige/TTV players with them), but generally I can deal just fine with flashlights without it.

That said, it is fun to hide that you have it as long as you can, or until a crucial moment. Kind of like playing rope a dope.

  • Doctor. Doctor is annoying af to face, pretty fun to play.

But I think the top of the list has to be Legion. Legion is weak, but fun to play as. But Legion is the most miserable killer to face, even though escape is likely. Just a 20 minute mending simulator, and that's if the Legion is good.

At least with oppressive killers like the Nurse, it's over quickly.

Yeah, trashy trappers trap up the basement pretty hard. They probably just assumed. Should run kindred and then they would know. Trapper is my main for killer and catching people in unique and unexpected ways is always fun. I do not however trap shack or basement because it is lazy and cliche. But if I get you at the door at the end I am pretty delighted, not gonna lie.

I play a lot of Trapper and while I never set out with a plan to use basement (like Agitation/Iron Grip type stuff), if I get someone down there and I have a few traps at my disposal, I'm absolutely locking it down. But most often I only have one or no traps when I get someone in the basement, and in those cases I don't bother.

Trapper is the weakest killer in the game, and playing Trapper means being at the mercy of a lot of factors, so I don't think it's trashy to take an opportunity when it arises. And if I am losing and can turn the game around with it? You bet your ass I'm gonna do it.

Maybe 1 of 25 Trapper games I play end up with a basement setup, but it's funny as hell when it works.

Trickster at least isn't a terrible killer.

On PC. Unfortunately, on console he's pretty much unplayable. Which makes me sad because I love that bat twirl (I love Wesker's knife flip, too). I'd play Trickster as an M1 killer with no knives it were possible to have him walk at normal speed by sacrificing his power. 😢

I'm not sure how much it works for a killer, who the killer player almost never sees in-game

My guess is that's why there are also two attractive survivors, who the survivor players do see in-game. Unless Thalita's backside gets nerfed, Pyramid Head will be jealous. If BHVR is no longer shapely-butt-a-phobic, it'd be nice if they could go back and adjust Yui: I love her, but she looks abnormally flat in every pair of pants.

Yes. Yui's concave butt is a crime; you'd think someone so fit/muscular wouldn't have completely skipped her glutes.

She doesn't need a big ol' donkey, that wouldn't be right. But if she falls she's breaking her tailbone.

Because killers can see what they're going to play against, anything harder to win to dodge.

Survivors have to commit to a match the moment they press Ready without knowing they're about to play againt 4 slowdown Nurse.

Remove the ability to see survivors in lobby will fix that problem.

Not that I dont want killer to see survivors in lobby, they should, but doesnt mean killers have the privilege to dodge lobby while survivors have to commit.

Survs absolutely should not be able to see the killer.

Survs are functionally all the same, really. Aside from their items and perks, there is nothing of substance to differentiate how you approach a game. But each killer is different, some wildly different, and being able to gear up for a specific killer would lead to the sweatiest killer meta ever at best, and break the whole game at worst.

It would be no fun for anyone.

This chapter seems like an experiment to see if sex appeal can sell mediocre/bad original content. Not only is this the first sexy killer, but we're getting two survivors, one male and one female, both attractive. There's no license behind it, nothing else to propel players to purchase it.

I don't see BHVR addressing or changing anything major until they determine how important visuals are in the sale of a new chapter.

I would say that Trickster would qualify as sexy, but you're generally correct. This chapter seems like it's mostly laying a pipeline for cosmetics.

And hey, I like looking at attractive people as much as anyone (the killer's walking animation might be the only thing about the chapter that excites me, lol, I might buy it if you could play killer in third person), but this just seems a bit transparent, and I'm not sure how much it works for a killer, who the killer player almost never sees in-game. It's certainly not enough to carry the chapter as is.

Trickster at least isn't a terrible killer.

Yeah, there are probably new Feng cosmetics on the way.

The sun is coming up tomorrow, isn't it? Feng getting more cosmetics is as much a sure thing, regardless of anything else.

I want to play goofy suboptimal things. I'm not going to get that if I get put in a match where all totems are cleansed immediately and the only person who I can ever find is the one going "CHASE ME! CHASE ME!"

I'd rather take the longer queue.

FFS, the entire point of MMR is that if you don't play meta things, you'll settle at a point where you can use non-meta stuff and at least compete. Backfilling completely defeats the point of that.

I really feel where you're coming from, but I feel like lobby shopping isn't worth it.

MMR is a disaster, I guess I've just sort of given up on matchmaking. It's just all over the place.

Like yesterday I played one match with two P100s and two others who were 50+, the match was a hard fought draw, and the next match with the same killer I went against four certified babies (P0, yellow/green perks, totally clueless). When the matchmaking is that ineffective, is there really a point to lobby dodging?

It's just spinning the big wheel of randomness, really. Total crapshoot at this point.

Generally, if you load into a lobby with four Survivors with everything already loaded, you've probably been selected to fill in a lobby someone's already left, or that's been waiting for ages.

Oh, I get that, but I generally don't care much, unless they're all TTVs. I'm usually only peripherally paying attention until the actual match starts to load. I typically prioritize just getting into my next match asap.

  • @Veinslay said:

Fix the backfilling with less experienced killer players and there isn't really a problem imo

I guess I don't even really notice experience; I don't check profiles or anything, only really notice if it's all ttvs, or outfit coordinated, etc. Other than that, I just roll with whatever I draw.

I pretty much only dodge players with default EGS names (e.g. "Player10508678330") or people with non-legit Legacy or Legacy and private profile, since they are usually cheaters.

I also dodge lobbies with multiple Blendettes and Blendadams, since the game is going to be an obscenely boring walking simulator for most of the match.

I even see other survs lobby hop when there is a blendette or two already in lobby, that's no fun for anyone.

  • @RainehDaze said:

Loading into a lobby with multiple TTV accounts and all four Survivors already there.

    Not a good sign.

Yeah, some BS hijinks almost always follow; I almost always dodge those. It's not that it's a challenge, it's that it's rarely even an earnest game. They're looking to put on some sort of show.

Just last night I was spacing and didn't realize until too late that I had loaded into a lobby with 3 ttvs and what must have been a fourth friend with them (I was playing Trapper, no less), and it was not fun. I got a 4K, but two ended up being bleedouts (out of necessity), and it was like 25 minutes of a whole lotta not fun.

For me, that's the usual sort of ttv SWF experience, so I dodge.

Or even if I just want to play a chill game with a low-mid tier killer, if the lobby looks full of juicers, I sometimes dodge.

    Thats correct.

Most players are very casual. They will always take the easiest strategy to win, it's only natural.

Unfortunately, making tunneling NOT the easiest and best strategy to win is going to be very difficult. It's ALWAYS been best to make the game a 3v1 ASAP

Not only is it the easiest/laziest way to win, it's also the most instinctual, lizard brained thing to do. Just secure your kill; it's probably the base instinct for anyone dropped in the game.

Add to that the fact many people just get tilted and decide that even if everyone else gets out, you're not going to.

For those reasons, tunneling is never going away. It's more a player issued than a game design flaw.

  • Spirit is hard for me because I can only hear from one ear (making audio tracking challenging at best), but I think generally she's probably on the higher end of average in terms of difficulty.

To really dominate with her you need to be able to track sounds, and get used to not using the tracking cues you usually use with other killers. So if you're used to using other killers, she might feel unwieldy. But if you main her and get her tracking down (and yes, have a nice pair of headphones), she is wicked strong.

But since her rework, the the survs have a lot more info, and coin flip standoffs and catching survs totally unaware aren't a thing anymore. SO not as strong or easy as she used to be.

People will still try to diminish wins with her based on outdate reputation, but even before it was mostly salt, and it definitely is now.

But that's DBD, if you lose, make it about how the other other party did something wrong, or had an unfair advantage.

  • Most of the time in those situations I just let go. No point in holding on.

Sometimes though, I hold on just out of muscle memory, because I checked out a bit when it became clear the match wasn't going to end well. Mea culpa on those, I guess.

And sometimes, if I feel the other player started playing for hatch/themselves before the game was lost, I might hold on out of spite (and for some points).

They won't change the mori, the design, the perks and the power in 3 weeks

Yeah, it won't happen because they have a schedule to keep, but my first thought was that they should take it back to the drawing board after PTB like the finisher mori thing.

It really needs more than can be done in three weeks.

EDIT: also, it's not a scam, we see what it is, and don't have to buy it. There's not a bait and switch here or anything.

  • Of course she'll get some changes. But can they be meaningful enough in the time frame before release? Seems doubtful.

People said the Knight needed a total overhaul, and she is essentially a much weaker version.

It’s a fair strong perk. It’s a wasted perk slot unless they can make it to endgame. Many times, you may not even get value outside of a sprint burst towards the gate. I definitely don’t think it needs changes.

I understand it can be annoying if somebody is in chase and they get adrenaline mid chase. But that’s best case scenario for the perk.

Agree. It's super powerful under a certain set of circumstances, but in many cases it's absolutely useless. Its a risk to run it. From the killer side, you remember all those times you mentioned where you are about to down someone and it procs, but don't really register all the times it was just a wasted slot for the surv.

It's not a guaranteed value perk, which makes it fine.

  • For sure. I have my moments where I am feeling competitive and sweaty, but generally I want to have fun, even if I know I'm probably gonna lose (I play a lot of Trapper, but play for fun with him). While I will load up more powerful killers and play for blood (unsully right before rank reset), many of my favorite killers aren't competitively viable at higher levels, but that isn't my main concern most of the time.

Not every killer needs to be (or should be) designed with winning being the primary factor. Every killer being designed around the same set of parameters (I.e. looping/chase power) would be painfully dull.

My problem with his killer is that she is just boring and undertuned.
