Mmm not toxic, but as one of your 4 Survivors, i would definitely chalk up that trial as a very boring one.

Purely for the slugging btw, idc about anyone else's Perks ever.

Boring compared to how wonderfully interactive hanging on a hook is?

  • @ClickyClicky said:

If you have to ask if something is toxic then chances are it is toxic. Also in what world do you live where Deliverance is more common than Unbreakable??

It’s not necessarily toxic. Only if they’re also behaving in an obnoxious way in addition to slugging (standing over them, staring/nodding for example).

Some games a killer simply can not afford to regularly hook. Too much time is wasted.

Except the shock of suddenly becoming exposed regularly distracts them from the skillcheck, especially during a drive by tap.

They should make it so that it doesn't tell the killer that the survivor has No-Mither since it's useless at the moment. A killer will just instantly pick up the broken survivor. I like the idea of it giving extra action speed.

Maybe it could automatically grant survivors 100% or maybe even more bloodpoints at the end of the trial and leave it as is with that. I'm not sure but it would be cool if it had a purpose.

The point of No Mither is to force the killer to pick you up and not ignore you.

You can use No Mither to take the heat away from other survivors, and break a killers attempts at tunnelling someone else, unless they’re foolish enough to ignore you.

  • @EntitledMyersMain said:

    You're SICK of it

This is a problem that's making you VOMIT

Also are we just going to ignore all the killers who have nothing to help in a chase period?

Even Myers has an extended lunge reach and speed. This can be the difference between getting a survivor dropping a pallet after 1 lap, versus it taking 3 or 4 laps as Plague.

Trapper can always place a trap down right in the survivors face (or fake it) to get the survivor to piss off to another loop. And he can hope the he’s successful herded the survivor into a previously set trap.

Wraith can leave an injured survivor and try to sneak up on them later.

Can you see where I’m going? Even the other basic M1 still have SOMETHING to deal with a loop, or SOMETHING they can try later if they abandon the chase.

Plague can track them, and always know where they are. YIPPEE. Doesn’t matter if she cannot get close to them.

  • @SnakeSound222 said:

This thread shows just how overrated the Exposed effect is and that too many people consider bringing perks or add-ons to be a good argument. A Killer should not need perks or add-ons to even be decent. Being injured doesn’t matter if you can’t catch that Survivor. There’s a reason some players will stay injured for the entire game.

The free corrupted fountain can easily spawn in a dead zone for you, meaning you have to leave the chase and gens just to get it. When you come back, you’ve already lost some time for your power and given the Survivors a chance to finish the gens uninterrupted. To fix this, I think the free corrupted fountain should be forced to spawn near multiple gens or the player only needs to press a button to activate Corrupt Purge after a Survivor cleanses or from the free purge instead of having to waste time going to a fountain. Of course we’d have to test each idea on the PTB first.

Thank you. Hallelujah. Someone that gets it.

Its just like the whole exact reason Legion’s concept was born: to deal with the no heal meta (and also discourage team work).

Legion’s inception came about during a period where “no heal and adrena-win” was almost ubiquitous across all matches. Legion screws with that survivor strategy of trying to save time by not healing by still regularly forcing injured survivors to engage in something they were trying to avoid doing: a healing type action.

It still rings true even now that survivors don’t care about being injured if they know the tiles. And although BHVR HAVE done vast improvements to tiles and pallet placements, you only have to play as someone like Plague to realise that most tiles and structures favour survivors if a killer doesn’t have access o their power, or is on cooldown, or needs to be reloaded, or completely denied access to by the survivors.

  • @aarongai said:

Her chase is pretty weak without Corrupt Purge, but I'm not sure if buffing Vile Purge is a good idea given how it's essentially a free (but delayed) first hit that can spread to other survivors. But if they were to buff it, maybe cause infected survivors to gain the Hindered status effect as well. Would give them another reason to cleanse.

I’d be ok if it worked like Doc’s old passive madness mechanic. Initial infection, then sick and broken, and a third stage that builds up over time that punished the survivor for not cleansing.

Maybe not constant hindered. Possibly too strong. But maybe they’re hindered while vomiting, and can’t perform an action while vomiting?

  • @selflessnea said:

To say you can't mind game as plague is a bit ridiculous. Maybe try different mind games and switch it up mid game. I've seen many people fall for plague mind games. And if they don't cleanse then they are easier to down then if you were another m1 killer like Myers. If they know how to play loops well then work more on gen pressure if you can't get a hit. Point is survivors will do what they can to not go down or make it easier on you. It is up to you to decide where/when to chase. You can try to get survivors to go where you want them so they don't have anything to loop. Force the chase around gens you know are being worked on if possible. There are many things you can do as killer to help yourself in chase but only if you choose to use them.

It’s not a ridiculous claim at all.

    • most survivors these days run Spine Chill.
    • Hiding the red stain doesn’t help much. Her height makes her visible most of the time, and even when they can’t see her, the trail of smoke from her censer can still tell them if she has turned around or not. Plus as I said, many run Spine Chill.

I’m a little surprised you aren’t using Pop instead of Overcharge given your Clown affinity. 🙂

Overcharge is still a good perk on Doc, even without Unnerving Presence.

At Red Ranks, if survivors have Madness 2, many still flub the Overcharge Skillcheck.

  • @dugman said:

I could see maybe Pop, Overcharge, Unnerving Presence and Dragon's Grip on Doctor? (Except that Unnerving Presence doesn't work while you're Undetectable.)

Oh wow. I didn’t even contact them.

Still though, I didn’t read anything about publicly displayed profile name.

The part that says they had requests/pressure from their partners: I’m gonna guess this is since the implementation of cross play across a lot of different games. I’m also going to guess that Nintendo are probably one of the companies that reached out to Steam about this.

  • @Morrianna said:

I'm not a fan of Killers that render the environment mostly useless. Like Nurse being able to blink through anything & Huntress being able to throw hatchets over pallets, through windows, etc. I don't like when a chase feels futile.

For some killers, the chase is their only means of pressure.

I’m a Clown main. I HAVE to be able to find survivors fast and get into chases quick. I HAVE to down them quick by using gas at loops to make it impossible for a survivor to reach a vault or pallet before they take a hit.

Clown needs that. Because he doesn’t have anything else.

  • This is also why survivors get a global notification that you’ve teleported. A demo player is meant to take advantage of that info to trick survivors into closing portals you have intentionally set up as a red herring.

  • You’re meant to use portals as traps in addition to mobility.

Place them where there are LoS blockers, and then use Of The Abyss to detect survivors on those activated portals. Take advantage of Oblivious by approaching via those LoS blockers for easy hits, or shorter chases.

I like to place 2 near gens, 1 out of sight. If I come back to that gen and notice activity but can’t find them, I try to trick the survivors to draw them out by teleporting to the nearby portal in the hope they believe I’ve moved across the map, and immediately rush to try and close the portal I entered.

    I think distortion's effect is fine as-is.

Way I see it, it serves 2 strong purposes right now.

    1. It lets you figure out what perks the killer has. If you vault a window against pyramid head and lose a totem, then you can know that he has I'm All Ears which is useful to know. You can also stop guessing against BBQ and chilli, etc..
    2. With how strong undying is it's good to have a perk that lets you perform a cleanse without having your aura presented in the early game.

Maybe you could buff it's duration a little bit to 15 seconds to add some leeway for the second purpose but otherwise it does its job well, its downfall is a lack of communication in non-SWF. A lot of perks suffer from this unfortunately. You'd need to add some sort of indication that teammates can see when a token is used to fix that.

Making its duration permanent would make it kind of a selfish perk and actually be a nerf to skillful use. I'd rather an off the record buff for long-term aura reading prevention in that case, but even that perk is alright rn imo.

“Maybe you could buff it's duration a little bit to 15 seconds to add some leeway for the second purpose but otherwise it does its job well, its downfall is a lack of communication in non-SWF. A lot of perks suffer from this unfortunately. You'd need to add some sort of indication that teammates can see when a token is used to fix that.”

This would be a very bad idea. As it stands, in SWF Distortion can already neuter a killer that may have a significant portion of their build around aura reading, which is already I highly conditional ability anyway.

“Let me finish gens because the killer is running Bitter Murmur”

”Stop healing when you hear the TR. Killer has Nurses”

”Plague has Black Incense. Bolt the moment you hear her TR”

”Killer has Undying. Let me cleanse totems”

”Killer has Lightborn. Don’t bother using Fkashlights”

Can you see how devastating Distortion can potentially be? On top of an already overwhelming amount of info shared between SWF, Distortion can reveal perks and add ons. Extending that so that info can somehow be shared amongst solo players that already choose not to equip Distortion would be awful to killers.

  • @gatsby said:

If Distortion simply prevented all Killer Aura reading on the Survivor using it, would that even be overpowered?

Honestly, I feel like it'd still be pretty niche. The most commonly run Aura perk is BBQ and having your Aura hidden every time it activates doesn't seem to me like it would compete with most of the meta perks for a slot.

Some crazy stealth Blendette might get tons of value from this buffed version of Distortion. But most of the Iron Will, Dead Hard, Decisive Strike and Unbreakable tryhards probably wouldn't even consider using it for a second.

Yes. It’s not just about blocking auras (which is more powerful than is given credit). It’s the wealth of information it gives the killer. Plus on a healthy survivor, a killer dealing with 10 seconds of no scratch marks more than 3 times would be a nightmare.

  • My problem, despite maining her since Demise of The Faithful, is that when you’re up against survivors that have tiles memorised and can loop them expertly, then Plague has nothing she can do against them if they don’t cleanse.

It sounds good on paper: that chases should be much shorter because of the huge theoretical amount of time she should be saving. The moment survivors are initially infected they’re already “injured” as they have no way to avoid eventually becoming broken if they don’t cleanse. So she COULD run n gun if she wanted to, knowing survivors are in a 1 hit state when she comes across them later on if they haven’t cleansed.

In theory it sounds great, and is SUPPOSED to sound threatening enough to survivors that they should cleanse.

    • ridiculously easy to track.
    • 1 hit down.

The problem that pops up is that against expert loopers, they know that Plague has nothing else in her kit without Corrupt Purge to assist her getting close enough to them for the 1 hit down to matter. Survivors in the broken state will always bolt the moment the TR is heard or when their Spine Chill triggers. Looping, and brute forcing a pallet drop takes significantly longer with Plague than with any other killer, both because she cannot mind game, there’s nothing left in her power to speed up the chase, and in my personal experience most survivors have Spine Chill. No other killer can afford for loops and pallet drops to take as long as they do with Plague at high ranks. And so she gets caught in this horrible cycle of dropping chases only to find the other survivors make a chase take just as long, so she’s forced to eventually commit to a long chase at the expense of gens popping all around her.

The free CP fountain is usually a crapshoot. Hardly ever do the stars align in such a way that it’s practical to go out of Plague’s way to get it, and make enough effective use out of it that it threatens these kind of survivors enough that they start cleansing.

On top of all of this she’s as buggy as nurse.

  • The only thing I’m disappointed in here is that it would have been fascinating if you had stuck with the conversation to see his response. You might have been able to turn his attitude around and realise that he was making that Meg’s experience miserable, just as you were making his miserable, and potentially change his approach to matches in the future.

i've been playing genshin and watching among us streams

my mind's still polluted for other reasons but choosing to not play DbD is such a load off my mental health

This game can be so demoralising.

I’ve been playing so long as both roles. But I know there are survivor mains that have also played a very long time.

The rational part of me knows that when I’m losing to these survivors it’s because they’ve got the tiles and spacing so well memorised, that they’re always going to have the upper hand on a killer, particularly when all 4 survivors are this skilled. It’s at this level of play that highlights how survivor sided so many tiles are.

But even though I know this, I HATE that it instead feels like I’m getting WORSE at the game over time, despite adapting, experimenting, and reinventing my approach to things in this game, and refining my skills (or so I thought).

Soooo she's a balanced and fair killer! Time to go home.

How is not being able to hit survivors that know the tiles fair and balanced?!

  • @MrLimonka said:

That's the point of plague though?

You either infect everyone and everyone is easy to track and down in one hit, or everyone cleanses and in turn you have a very powerful tool to down survivors. No changes needed.

Except the “easy” part doesn’t exist. If the survivors know the tiles, you can’t hit them.

  • Huh? I don’t get it.

  • @xXCAM3R0NXx said:

If survivors don't cleanse, they basically have the exposed effect until they do.

Most killers have to chase people around loops, except from nurse and spirit etc. If the problem is you can't get hits on people who are looping, the problem isn't the killer the problem is your looping skills.

You need to practise defeating loops, through mindgames, respecting or even forcing them to drop the pallet.

    Jesus effing Christ.

Every OTHER killer has something in their power to help with getting a hit at a loop, or AT LEAST mind game with their power.

Heck even Myers has a faster, and extended lunge range at T3. Wraith can hit and run, and hope to catch injured survivors off guard later. Even Trapper if he still has a trap can encourage the survivor to leave the tile simply by putting a trap down.

YOU. CAN’T. MIND. GAME. WITH. PLAGUE!

So even running loops the CORRECT way, survivors:

    a) can always know where you are because of how tall she is, and the smoke trail from her censer. It doesn’t help that Spine Chill is so popular either.

    b) the loops cannot be mind gamed for that same above point. Hiding the red stain is a complete waste of time.

    c) and without CP she has NOTHING to get a survivor leaving a tile, or dropping a pallet sooner. Every tile is always several laps, and absolutely no killer can afford for loops to be taking that long at red ranks.

Going against survivors that expertly know how to run every tile leaves plague with NOTHING to work with without Corrupt Purge, and the one fountain you get might be on the opposite side of the map, wasting a lot of time to get it, and wasting a lot of time finding survivors again when she does have CP. And if Plague effs up the timing collecting that, resulting in only one or no downs at all, then she’s completely screwed and survivors will be even LESS inclined to cleanse.

  • Great post.

    I love this game too.

Thats why I get so upset (like my previous post) that there are certain time windows where there are a mass influx of SWF that make this game miserable, and awful to play killer.

And because there are so many 4 people squads queuing on the servers during that period, it makes the solo queue times awful, so I can’t even play survivor to catch a break from how awful they’re making the game for killer.

  • @Awakey said:

You mean the one free health state she takes off Survivors, significantly shortening chases and making tracking much easier?

None of that matters when no mind games work at loops. Survivors ALWAYS know where she is. Attempts at hiding the red stain is a waste of time.

Takes half a minute to get them to finally drop the pallet, move to next tile, repeat. Drop chase because too much time is being wasted. Other 3 infected survivors do the exact same thing.

You can get the down in half the time, it's the fact anytime they waste healing is removed. Removing healing is what hurts her not the chase. The red goo is affected poorly by dedicated servers too. She's not a bad killer but you have to be very good and a little lucky.

No, chases do not take half the time. It might seem that way on paper, but it most definitely does not halve chase times.

    • she has nothing to mind game with to trick survivors into an easy hit.
    • She has nothing to assist her at a loop to hit them before a vault or pallet drop.
  • @alex9er said:

After a while, it gets boring, stale and frustrating to deal with it. My suggestion: if you're tired of people DCing, stop playing the popular killers.

Clown is my main. Survivors still DC, and I rarely tunnel or camp. I DO slug though because it’s absolutely necessary in higher ranks.

Survivors just DC for anything other than handing them an easy escape by standing in the corner all match.

  • I run Beast of Prey, Gearhead, Overwhelming Presence, and Zanshin Tactics, and no add ons on Clown.

Slugging is a pussy move all around. Either buff up your gen pressure or just quit playing killer. Wwf is for survivor to get fens done and not get slugged. Period.

You have zero clue how to play killer against highly competitive, highly coordinated, highly efficient survivors at high ranks If that’s what you firmly believe.

  • @RisPot said:

I once put the two iri add-ons on Bubba and had all 4 survivors literally run straight at me 30 seconds into the game. So I downed them all in a matter of like 15 seconds. Sometimes you don't need to slug, cause survivors think can outplay you before knowing your build. 2 were trying to do the sprint burst turn around bit, but when I downed one guy and got back all my charges, it didn't help them. I'm not saying it will be this way every time, of course. But take a moment to figure out the killer's build and adjust your strategy accordingly to avoid mass sluggings and the like.

I have slightly similar things happen when I play Clown: they act like I’m not a threat. Which is their mistake when they all start going down very quickly.

  • They did announce that owners of PS4 copies get a free upgrade to a PS5 version. Considering the PS4 version will already work on PS5, there would have to be some distinguishing differences. Otherwise why bother building a next gen version of the game at all.
