Sorry brother but that DC just made you part of the problem. Ash might have been "trying" to help. His intentions might have been good just poorly executed. We all have to remember this is just a game. If you get that mad you have to rage quit you might want to take a break from the game.

Had a match the other night where I was being tunneled and finally got to the gates and was downed. Well, I was within crawling distance of the exit and two of the survivors were trying to heal me where they could have just let me crawl out. Every time they tried to heal me it made me stop and prevented me from getting to the exit. I was picked up and hooked ending the match for me. Yes, I was a bit miffed but in the end they were trying to help when they could have done other things like body block or kept the killers attention so I could crawl out. But I took this as the other solo survivors trying to help. In the end, just move on there will be better matches.

No. You can’t excuse not thinking with “just trying to help”. It’s not okay if the majority of “help” some attempts to provide only gives teammates grief and gets them killed.

    It’s not excusable.

    Well, obviously, don't DC.

I feel you, Solo Q is the worst.

In hindsight I know I shouldn’t, but teammates doing stuff like that makes me so angry, it temporarily clouds my judgement.

What does skill have to do with a battle pass? I never said that. Also, most of those cosmwtics dont return for another 1 to 2 years.

In what capacity is it deeply important, or life changing whether you (or anybody else) misses out on particular cosmetics or charms because they didn’t complete the rift?!?!

My entire point with each of my responses has been “so what if the rift isn’t completed?”

The rewards are “nice to have”, not essential. It’s nice to finish a rift, but it’s not game changing, and it really shouldn’t matter if it WASN’T finished by a player.

Some people here really to think about their priorities in life.

  • Which again isn’t required to improve gameplay, or increase odds of winning. It’s JUST cosmetics and charms. If someone doesn’t finish a rift, that is the ONLY thing they’re missing out on: remaining charms and cosmetics.

  • @loopsahoy said:

The tome costs 10 dollars. There are various rewards, but by the time tone is fone most people who havent spent money are teirs 30-50( dependant on playtime. Tome could take roughly 200 hours of games plus the tome challenges if you really want teir 70.

I think every 15 teirs on the free side of the battle pass and at teir 70, you could earn 50 auric cells so you could either save up for later tomes or just grab some bonus auric cells to spend when a sale is going on or something. Also, i think challenges are fine in their current state. However, i do think the tome should be 100 days(around 3 mknths and 10 days) so that you have more time to catch the rewards before they are gone.i also think if you complete a charecters entire story and watch the video at the end of the story you should receive 5 fragments.

No. It’s not reasonable that the devs should just give “free money” on the free rift.

    Just no.

The rift ONLY has cosmetic rewards and charm rewards, so there is nothing predatory about it because there is NO “pay to win” involved in the rift.

So I've been playing dead by daylight since console release in 2017. You know before swivel hooks, devotion, tomes, and skins. When double pallets existed, insta parts and insta moris, vacuum pallets and so much more. And I've adapted pretty well.... Except for my wallet. Today I did the math.

For skins, base game and maybe 5 DLCs I've spent a total of $306.93.

A total of 26,360 Auric cells

I didn't even count the iri shards.

Honestly expected it to be a lot more based off my hours. Anyone else every done the math?

I know I’ve spent a lot. But I have no regrets. I love this game.

People are too afraid to play injured. I don't know why either, but I don't mind playing injured. It's always everyone else that wants to heal me. Or people will literally follow me around begging to be healed. I still think people should get use to just playing injured, and sticking on gens, but that's just me. I still think self care is a waste of time unless paired with botany/desperate measures

Because some killers are just too damn good at chases, making it dangerous to stay injured.

  • @Nathan13 said:

I have spent the past 15 minutes painstakingly getting frame by frame before after images of skill checks and I can confirm that no matter whether the great skill check was achieved using the token effect of stake out or you manually hit the great zone yourself, you still get the bonus progress.

I achieved this by getting the before and after frames of a great skill check hit manually and did the same thing for one gotten using a token. The footage was 120 fps.

I then measured the difference of pixels on the progress bar for the before and after images and both cases had the same difference of pixels.

@Almo is it possible for you to clarify this?

  • @brokedownpalace said:

Counterpoint: feel free to play DBD however you want, within the rules of the game.

Although true, Self Care really isn’t intended to be used on its own, and that’s what frustrates many other survivors dealing with teammates using it.

It’s supposed to be back up for when a medkit runs out.

Ideally, Self Care should always be ran with Botany Knowledge and a med kit so that the survivor is a healing powerhouse for themselves AND their teammates.

I recently did the achievement to escape 8 times using no perks...I can honestly say I was the single worst Laurie Strode anyone has ever seen. I was working on getting her to P3 at the same time so I figured, why not do the achievement too? I never realized just how much I have relied on perks until I went perkless, lol.

I haven’t even bothered to try that one yet because my play style usually involves at least 2 aura reading perks, if not 1. So I rely a lot on the information they give, especially Bond because it tells me so damn much.

So going perkless means a huge lack of info.

Suppose I could use a key with a token, but then I’ll get tunnelled hard.

  • @SkeletalElite said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2128612#Comment_2128612

The bonus skill check progress works without tokens, you don't need tokens. Just equip the perk and hit great skill checks without tokens.

That’s incorrect. Even with Stake Out, correctly hitting Great Skill Check Success Zones only grants the normal 1%

  • @SkeletalElite said:

So for a long time I thought about stake out as a total garbage perk, you get a token for every 15 seconds you're in the killer radius and the tokens convert normal skill checks into great but this perk has a little bonus effect.

It increases the bonus progress gained by 1%, the normal bonus progress is 1%, so it doubles it. Instead of saving .8 seconds you save 1.6 seconds of repair so if you can hit all great skill checks speeds up gens by an average of an extra 5.1 seconds. (8% skill check chance per second means average 6.4 skill checks for 80 seconds of repair) not to mention the other affect this perk has actually makes hitting great skill checks a little more consistent since you'll inevitably have a couple tokens to use as a safety net.

If you bring a toolbox it gets even more spicy since toolboxes double the chance of getting a skill check (16%) after the midchapter they will increase the skill check chance of toolbox repair to 5x (40%!)

For comparison prove thyself speeds up a 2 man repair by 6 seconds and that's ONLY FOR COOP REPAIRS.

Of course there is some RNG to it. Sometimes you might get unlucky and it will be less, but sometimes you can get really lucky and get some very ridiculous time saves. The game I was using it I got 10 skill checks on a gen and hit every single great. Normally that would shave off 8 seconds to a 72 second repair but because of stake out it took off 16 seconds to make that a 64 second repair.

So yeah, if you can hit those great skill checks stake out is actually pretty damn good.

Stake Out is also fantastic for healing paired with a med kit and the gloves or sponge that give healing progression bonuses for hitting greats, plus of course the additional 1% that Stake Out gives.

You don't mind me asking what are the counters to clown. Just in case I can be prepared for when I go up against a good clown.

Honestly, the survivors that give me the most trouble are the ones that respect him. I.e. are stealthy or/and skittish.

I don’t have much trouble finding stealthy survivors, but it’s still time not actively spent in a chase.

And skittish survivors that flee a gen the moment I’m spotted halfway across the map, or the moment they hear the TR are generally detrimental to my time, whether that survivor is good or bad at chases, it’s still additional time spent trying to cover ground in a survivor watching my every move. The Antidote addresses this behaviour to a degree, but I’d prefer to keep those for loop set ups impossible for a survivor to deal with.

Bubba isn't that hard to counter even with bamboozle. Clown is totally the opposite since he is so oppressive on every single tile in the game. The only tile I think clown struggles with is myers house and groaning storehouse main building.

I wouldn’t say groaning store house main building is too bad, but yeah Haddonfield houses are annoying.

  • Bubba can’t control the survivors and the loops like Clown can.

  • @GodLikeTerror said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2129118#Comment_2129118

Yea, the very few of us who have dumped like 1k+ hours into him pretty much fully understand him enough. Usually people also underestimate the player when they see a clown, so when they see one of us they end up 99.9% of the time losing due to the fact that he is so good when played correctly that leaves not much counterplay on most maps.

The majority of survivors just don’t want to accept that they need to (or should) play stealthy against Clown.

Survivors think Clown is a joke until they go against one they can’t win chases against. They don’t heal because they want to use their Dead Hard, and then DC because the chase lasted less than 10 seconds.

  • @Beefmur said:

why not do it for a week who cares if a new killer is meta for like week. im so sick of being forced to play the same 5 killers for meta make some more ffs

But he’s already fine. The only thing survivors can do is waste pallets quickly, only to still go down quickly.

Clown played properly means the survivors can’t get gens done fast enough to exceed the frequency of downs he’s getting.

This means Slugging is an excellent tactic with him because it wastes so much of the survivors time with how often 1 or 2 survivors are on the ground.

  • Had one this week in one of my Clown games.

Match starts on Family Residence, and the moment a Nancy and a Steve realise it’s Clown after getting gassed, they DC not even 60 seconds into the game. I find, down, and hook a Jake. He suicides. I find and close hatch, spot Feng, down her, then had some heart, and carried her to a gate, let her escape.

    The Nancy & Steve?

    BOTH RANK 1!!!!!!

I do just fine on that map with my Myers, both Spooky build and Maniac. I've seen Trappers get easy 4Ks there too, where I was one of the victims. Hag does just fine there and so does Freddy. The map is actually small enough that the Killer can, if he/she applies oneself, keep up excellent Generator pressure. A little triage at the start, ruling out those Generators you don't think are worth fighting for does wonders. Then you focus on those you mean to patrol the whole game and pressure those Survivors into dropping pallets, i.e. do NOT respect the pallet. Take your lumps early so they take their hooks later on when they STILL have to get those Generators but all the pallets have been used. Perks which I find work particularly work well on Gideon are:

    Corrupt Intervention (works well everywhere)

    Pop Goes the Weasel

    Oppression

    Tinkerer

    Dark Devotion

    Trail of Torment

*Basically, any Perk that makes you undetectable (however briefly) works wonders there due to the small size of the map.

    Hallelujah.

    Someone who gets it.

I've never been a fan of the twins, especially since my experience with them have been as survivor and having my team be slugged to death at 5 gens. Playing as them never really crossed my mind.

After how terrible the trickster chapter ended up I decided to give twins a shot since I had a bunch of shards left over.

I've played them a week now and I'm having a blast. I've not once felt I had to slug the entire team or camp somebody because it's easier to do with twins. The only time I slug is when there are multiple injured people grouped up.

I love keeping big sis near the center of the map so I can take advantage of injured survivors due to victor. If I can I hide her behind a wall or something and it catches people off guard a lot. I've had many survivors run into her arms due to oblivious.

Victor pounces are difficult at times but satisfying when they connect. He gets kidnapped quite often which I find hilarious because it actually takes them out of the game for the duration while I continue to murder the rest of team. I'm also a huge fan of the killer instinct he provides when latched on to someone, helps with finding survivors I would otherwise miss.

I love the tag team power they have; hit a survior with one and down them with the other.

Hopefully this inspires someone who hated them like I did to give them a try and play them without being a scam bag.

This is similar to my experience. I used to hate playing as them. I thought they were awful.

But strangely I persisted with them anyway. I’m getting much better and actually enjoy them.

  • @Luciferr_2nd said:

    Watch this 30 second clip

You can see that victor is literally useless on healthy survivors, it doesnt do anything and they got him off in like 5 seconds anyway.

Twins rework im begging theyre in such a bad place. Dont even mention the fact that if you miss a single pounce your map pressure is destroyed because youre now crushed. Most punishing killer in the game for missing a hit, which is really hard to hit on console btw.

If the RE killer isn't console/controller friendly ill be incredibly pissed and annoyed ive never been more excited for a license.

    What are you talking about?!

Incapacitated injures the survivor. And if they want to continue participating in the game, they HAVE to remove Victor. Otherwise if they don’t, and want to kidnap him, they’re basically the equivalent of a free slug, because they can’t help progress the objective or heal other survivors or themselves.

  • @IWasLeft2Die said:

Playing against Oni at the coal tower. I have him chase me all the way up to the top while gates get opened. He downs me up there and leaves. Feng gets downed, gets hooked, and yeets herself off the hook while I'm crawling. She gets hooked again and our third person leaves. Just me and Feng.Turns out, hatch spawned next to her hook. I've at this point crawled out the long way around, and am laying on hatch while she struggles all the way down on her timer. I can't save her. No one else is here, but she struggles to the very end so Oni can find and hook me instead of letting me get hatch. Of course she's on console. People who do ######### things like that always seem to be on console. Why is that? Why is it that if you get matched up with someone who's going to screw you over, it's a console player, almost every time?

She isn’t obligated to give you the hatch. She might have really needed the BP from struggling.

  • I think it’s because they’re hard to use effectively.

I initially hated them a lot. But now, after persisting for some weird unknown reason, I’m getting much better at them, and enjoying them a lot.

  • @Mat_Sella said:

everyone seems to not want to talk about the amount of dead ends that result in your death if you end up there with the killer. Interesting.

Which is the point I’m trying to make. This map starts off favourable for survivors, but quickly becomes dangerous.

The swing in shift from what everyone here is focusing on:the pallets, to how favourable the map becomes for the killer, is massive.

  • I have the opposite problem. I have an abundance of Iridescent Kings, but a very low drop rate of Iridescent Queens. It’s very annoying.

  • @Seraphor said:

It's virtually impossible to keep up with a survivor as an M1 killer if they just keep early/pre-dropping pallets and making as much distance as possible.

By the time you've cleared out all of the pallets they've dropped, 3 gens will have popped.

Most maps, most pallets are at 'unsafe loops', meaning the pallets serve a purpose for stunning the killer and slightly slowing them down. A Strong loop pallet means you can loop a killer for a very long time or force them to break the pallet. A God pallet means the killer has no choice but to break the pallet, this gives the survivor a huge head start because unlike a 'strong loop' pallet, they have no reason to hesitate to see which way the killer is going, they can just carry on running immediately and widen the gap between them and the killer by a huge margin.

Which they only get to do once with these pallets

Gideon has a staggering, and sharp shift from safe for survivors to dangerous for for survivors. There’s very little safety for them mid-ish/late game.

  • @TAG said:

What exactly is bothering many of you with these pallets?!

Yes, there Is a large overall volume of pallets.

Yes, Gideon probably also has the highest amount of “god pallets”/pallets that absolutely HAVE to be kicked/broken in the entire game.

You basically answered your own question.

But the only reason there are so many is because it’s counterbalanced by the other points I included.

This map seriously gets dangerous for survivors very quickly.

  • @Bangarang said:

People actually use that perk? 🤯

Whispers is actually an excellent perk when it’s used well.

  • @RenTheCat said:

I can't for the love of god get 4k without it. There is always one guy left sitting afk on the hatch letting his teammates die and I can't find him without whispers. It's the same if I instead do find the hatch but the doors are on different corners of the match, I can't just patrol, it takes just 20 seconds to open the gate.

I lose people in the dying state too without whispers, and I don't know if someone is hiding in a locker, Whispers is like the full package, it's deerstalker + all those perks that tell you if someone is in a gen + that one gen that reveals someone that comes out of the locker

How do you even play without it?

I’ve just learnt to be hyper attentive to audio cues, and I pay attention to the crows a LOT.

Wondering which gate they’re hiding near? I go to turn around and head back to one gate, but notice right at the periphery of my screen a crow returning to its perch.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I don't mind it as PH because I can hit people through walls and pallets. I do mind it though when I have to break these pallets cause I never normally do that. Also stairs.

As other killers, it's moreso that by the time you've broken every pallet it's game over. You couldn't ever get enough pressure to prevent a survivor from doing a gen because they held w, pressed space, and waited for you to break it, rinse and repeat.

But a killer overcommitting to a chase like that on any map is a bad idea. At least on Gideon 2 or 3 super good pallets can be gotten rid of in the same space of time as a chase on other maps before a survivor has even dropped their first pallet. It’s so easy on this map to get rid of a few pallets and then switch targets.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I completely entirely agree. Pyramid Head main, curbstomps average survivors who path very predictably, struggles slightly vs good survivors who path weirdly but still 4ks, if they hold w you're done for if they're also good on gens but almost nobody plays like that so it's okay. See, that's the thing when you're new, is that stealth seems like fun. It seems like the most enjoyable part of DBD, the hiding and the finding, but after like 1k hours it's pretty boring. 2k hours it's just frustrating when you can't find someone, and so even if it is fun to do still, it's awful and frustrating to face imho.

I still find stealth fun and thrilling as survivor, and I very enjoy the tracking/hunting part as killer. It’s very egotistical, but I LOVE the headtrip I get finding survivors that think they’re well hidden.

1 … 29 30 31 32 33 … 110
