  • You shouldn't have to, but it can feel like it. How quickly you can get a down, how long your chases last, the value of your perks, the map you get, a lot of stiff can suddenly make or break a game depending on how everything goes.

I think a huge reason for these issues comes down to the fact that a Killer can only rely on themselves, except Nemesis who has to pray he gets the zombies that share a brain cell rather than the complete joke zombie AI tends to be. As a Survivor I can at least go in knowing I have teammates a play accordingly.

Will I be the gen jockey, the hook savior, will I run the Killer? My role can change depending on what the other 3 do. As a Killer I have to be able to get quick downs and snowball to get the 4K. This is where I always like to point out that no matter whay the devs say, or the community says, for a vast majority of Killers the 4K is a win, and MMR agrees.

Its the same reason SWF groups get dodged. Do people really have an issue with friends playing together? I doubt it, and at least I don't. But the information that they do share (essential having basekit Kindred, Alert, Empathy, Object of Obsession) combined with the Killer not being able to do anything about it makes games feel even less fun.

This in turn I feel leads to Killers feeling the need to camp and tunnel, because securing a quick kill DOES make the game easier. When I play if I can find a weak link early on I get them out quickly, because than there is one less Survivor working on a gen, or healing. Same thing with camping. Sometimes you need to secure the kill.

Had a game as Dredge a while back on Coldwind. I had downed and hooked a Dwight, and I did leave him. None of his teammates went to save him til close to 2nd stage, and by than I was chasing a Namcy who led me back to Dwight. Now I had all 3 Survivors around this Dwight and I kept chasing them off. Eventually Nancy rushes for the save injured, I down her, and see Dwight had only a few seconds left so I just stared at him til he died. Nea rage quit, amd Nancy and Elodie died quickly, and I got spammed with hate messages over it.

But that was a unique circumstance right? How about a Mikey game where I went against really good players. I had brought Infinite T3 but couldn't get the pop until 1 gen left (was going for his Adept at the time). Well I had sacrificed a Dette, and get my T3 to pop and down a Nea just as last gen pops. So I hook her near a door and wait, and sure enough I see a Meg running around. I start to go after her, only to double back amd catch Feng going for the unhook.

Down her, wait for Nea to die, than pick up Feng cause I figured Meg had ran. She did not, she ran past me to the door, so I dropped Feng, chased her and downed her and she DCd. Hook and kill Feng and again, get hit with hate messages after.

In both of those games I did what were sensible options in the situations I was in, and got flak over it. So if Im going to get flak for it even when its the obvious choice to do, might as well do it all the time.

Didn't mean to turn that into a camping thing at the end, but my point was simply that Killers shouldn't need to play perfectly to get a 4K, but there are so many circumstances out of a Killers control that if a Killer wants to get 4Ks consistently, they more often than not need to play "dirty"

Wait so you won 18 in a row just staying in basement?

Yep. The basement chest was never once plundered.

  • This patch did 2 things, did them really well, amd its throwing a lot of Survivors into a panic.

1- It showed a LOT of players have been carried thanks to DH. And before anyone jumps down because I DARED mention that perk, read. DH allowed players to extend chases they otherwise wouldn't have been able to, either thanks to dodging a hit or gaining ground to the next loop. And even IF you are on of the majority minority who claim they never used DH, I guarantee you have had teammates who did, and you were able to reap the benefits.

Now chases are ending quicker, allowing Killers to have a momentum. This leads into the 2nd part.

2- M1 Killers have become more viable. In the past few years M1 Killers were weak simply because if you couldn't chase you were at a disadvantage. This patch now allows M1 Killers to better perform. No, they haven't jumped forward in tier lists, but now chases are no longer heavily reliant on either a Killers power or lack of DH.

As for all of these other "problems", I promise you they have existed before this patch. Killers still camped and tunneled (and those strats were still viable and legal than) Thana Legion and Plague did exist (I would know, I ran them and good teams still beat them). Games are just now ending quicker cause people quit on first hook, or quit cause they dont like Killer.

bUT i DonT LIkE X KiLl3R/StrAt. Its a game, I recommend getting over it.

The only issue is indeed SoloQ, but again, Devs cant really buff SoloQ without buffing SWF with them, and thats not Killers fault, thats the Devs problem.

Love this flawed line of thinking that only ever applies to solo survivors, and not killers who were “whining and crying” because they couldn’t get 4ks nonstop.

    Try again.

Don't see how its flawed. Killers cant force Survivors to suicide on hook. Or force them to DC. Thats on Survivors. And nor did I deny that Killers xan be babies, but in this specific topic its on Survivors end. But Im sure its easier to just ignore arguments than change your own view.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3088287#Comment_3088287

You feel better getting that out? Good. Now let’s try to think practically about what the game needs instead of throwing around unhelpful superiority nonsense.

Okay. Practically people need to stop being immature babies and play the game. Patch hasn't even been out a week and a vast majority of Survivors keep doing this, which than ruins the games for others. It's not a superiority issue, at least not on Killers side. This is Survivors whining and crying because things don't go their way and they want everyone else punished because of it.

  • I have been. Games arw the same as yesterday

  • Well Survivors crying on forums didn't stop this change so many are moving to the next proven method of getting what they want, messing with the all holy and unquestionable numbers BHVR preach. Surely if Survivors keep dying to Thana Legions and Plagues than the perk is a problem and NOT Survivors being entitled infants angry they lost their precious meta builds

  • Its more of a gut feeling than anything, but in my experience Davids, Megs, and Fengs are the majority of irritation as a Killer so seeing them makes me groan

  • Ive been able to P1 most of the Killers I want so Ill be able to have a decent starting build, or in Sadako amd Dredges case have all perks on both so theyll be bumped, so if its tomorrow Ill be happy. If it isn't I can focusbon getting Billy and Nurse p1'd

Also in case you are wondering, Ill be able to run on all my Killers what I feel to be a decent all around build of Devour Hope, Agitation, STBFL, and Call of Brine. Devour isbthe weakest perk there, but its my favorite perk so itll be nice to now have that on all Killers

  • Killer: I just want a good variety, so if I see the same Killer over and over, I get annoyed. I dont care if its a Nurse or a Hag or an Artist, I just want variety.

Survivor: Davids. I could care less if he is now the gay character, David players in my experience have and continue to be massive jackwads in Killer games.

  • Bar the odd game where all the gens perfectly align, 3 gens are almost always on the fault of Survivors. They either fix all gens on one side, or Survivors run Killers through spots where there are unfinished gens and not near completed gens. When a Killer does realize they have a 3 gen, its completely the right call to defend it. If as a Survivor you knew there was a spot that you could 100% guarantee the Killer would never be in, wouldn't you remain there?

  • It is pretty pathetic of a reward. Don't know what possessed the devs into thinking that was in any way a good one, especially since only YOU get to see it and no one else. Wasn't the point of this reward to show the dedication you had before this change went into effect? Honestly, they might as well not give anything cause all this feels like to me is a participation trophy. Degrading and meaningless.

  • From what I understand you will keep them, but the game will "auto prestige " you based on how many bloodwebs youve gone through. For example, your Trapper has all perks unlocked Dredge downwards, all Tier 3. Update drops, your Trapper is auto prestieged to Tier 7 or whatever based on how far youd have made it by now

  • This is why the Emblem system is so confusing and needs a major rework. As others have stated, as a Survivor Evader wont even be rewarded if you go the whole match without being seen by the Killer. So if I, as a Survivor, am able to stealth and be unseen by the Killer the WHOLE match, I dont even get graded, even though by all accounts I perfectly evaded the Killer.

Or on Killer side, if Im able to end chases and down Survivors super quickly, than my Chaser emblem suffers because the chases aren't LONG enough. So if I want to do "good" by the devs standards, I have to go against common sense.

And people wonder why the community mocks devs and say they clearly dont play the game

  • Rebecca Chambers is my favorite girl so that would be nice, but for a Killer Id have really gone with a Licker, make its power a fusion of Demo and Slinger.

  • Turn it into Scourge Hook: Monstrous Shrine

Turns all hooks in the basement to Scourge Hooks. Hooked Survivors have their sacrifice timer decereased by 10/20/30 percent.

All other active Scourge Hooks are transferred to the basement

  • Id say 60 to 70 percent

  • Its midnight and Im reading this as a general "why do people hate this"

I think its because tbagging is, both in general gaming culture and especially DbD Survivor culture, used to convey dominance over your defeated opponent. Survivors use it to essentially gloat to the Killer, so to suddenly have a Killer turn that around must hurt.

Same thing with a Killer nodding or shaking their head. Personally, I love yo bag with my GF, especially with Devour Hope moris. Just adds that extra bit

  • Eh, I think the only issue is that you have to pick the challenge to contribute instead of it being kept track of in the background. Ive already done all the event challenges and moved back to the rift, I use these events to speed level. Last year I got all Survivor oerks on my Kate, this year I wanna finisg getting all Killer perks on Wraith and Dredge and than move on to Clown and Leatherface

  • Damn Sluzzy, getting slow in your age? Hour and a half late for your regularly scheduled troll posts

  • The large issue I feel a lot of people in ths community and BHVR don't understand is that BHVR is at the end of the day a business, and people don't understand that it's the business itself people have issue.

Take what happened with Root of Dreads release just last week. It gets released, and an entire section of the community wasn't able to play for half a day because of initialization errors, and it took two days to be able to get them to get crossplay back (Playstation players). How did that happen? It either means this issue made it past testing (which means BHVRs testing at best needs to be looked at, or at worst is inept) or there isn't testing done for consoles, and presumably any platform.

Now, is that true? Maybe, maybe not, but it's now the inage BHVR gave itself. It's why I amd so many other players mock the sheer amount of cosmetics thrown into the cash shop. Look at it like this. We have a rift full of charms and sets, we've had about 6 cosemtic sets in the cash shop released in the past two weeks, and now we've had new cosmetics released in this event. The sets are awesome, and full props to the cosmetics department truly. I doubt any player has a problem with THEM.

What we DO have a problem with is that these are being released, but rubber banding isnt fixed. There are still hackers. SBMM is nonexistent because Killers don't want to play. New content was yet AGAIN released that broke the game. I get BHVR is stuck between a rock and a hard place, and people need to work, but when players see these issues plaguing a game for months on end, close to years now, they are going to point out flaws in the system.

As it feels now, BHVR feels like a company that doesn't care. It doesn't matter what devs say, what mods say, what community managers say, what many in the playerbase SEE is a company that doesn't care. BHVR doesn't have to drop everything to fix things of course, as a business they can run things what they want, but that doesn't mean the community shouldn't be alllowed to criticize them. I love Mandy, Patrick, and everyone at BHVR.

Ever since Binding of Kin, BHVR has been shown to be nothing but an incompetent set of braindead plugs trying to halt the Nile with a thimble. THAT'S what this sorry excuse of a game development company has shown me.

  • You mentioning this is the first time since Samination I have heard this joke in a long time. So no, I think the joke died a while back.

I just gotta say, I don’t think overly-altruistic counts as a mistake. It’s a life choice! A poor life choice at that. Leads to a rather short life.

No, thr mistake was choosing to try and save someone on hook right in front of a Leatherface instead of cutting losses and dipping

  • I actually did have one of those a little bir ago, though thankfully the mistake was the Survivors and not mine. Far to altruistic. Ill link the vid I saved to my YouTube, but long story short I played a Chest Protector Bubba, but they got to the basement before I could. Figured Id protect the items, but they quickly anniyed me doing clicky cpicky things. While obviously no proof, pretty certain it was a bulli SWF group. Figured Id play serious, get a bit better at chases, and due to their need for altruism sacrificed 3 and was avle to slug and orevent the 4th from getting out, got him with EGC

I believe it starts on Thursday the 16th

    Yep, just double checked. Thanks.

  • Survivor- Windows of Opportunity. This one has started becoming better since its recent buff, but just the sheer amount of info this can give me. Whether the Killer is chasing someone close by cause the pallet suddenly gor thrown, to whether or not I have a pallent in that loop.

Killer- Unrelenting. And yes yes, I know. I shouldn't plan to miss. Well I'm not good, so I can whiff hits, or make a bad play. But the fact that I can get back in much quicker really helps, especially when Survivors try to spin me, cause me to miss, but than essentially reset themselves by going for the fault anyways

  • The build Ive been running on him tends to be:

Devour Hope- Because its my favorite Killer perk and goes on all of my Killers. Its the only Hex I run usually so either I lose it and move on, or its remains and helps me snowball super quick.

Agitation- I have slept on this perk for years but that speed boost is very helpful when carrying Survivors.

Tinkerer- A lot of lockers are next to gens so if I can do the quick port over I am set to either push them off or be right there.

Call of Brine- Combos well with Tinkerer, and unlike say Pop or Pain Resonance I don't need to set up with it.

As for his add ons, currently I love his Worry Stone the most, Survivors cant help but lock lockers so it feels like I run Lethal Pursuer for early game to mid game, and than Boat Key gives faster teleports. I think the other purple I use is the Cabin Pass or something, begins the trial in NF so helps me snowball a little quicker.

Honestly though, its nice that Dredge feels like he fills so many different roles that plenty of builds could work with him.

Every time I hear the whole "just do bones" argument, I just have to ask you all: Have you ever played solo Q before?

Sure, let me just get my three random teammates, who I can't communicate with in any way, to realize that the killer is only running three perks and that therefore NOED is in play so someone needs to to all 5 bones. Also, you don't know how many bones are left in the match so a teammate might go searching for a totem already done. Now, if said killer turns out to be running pentimento, I guess you are just screwed.

"Just Do Bones" is the most Killer-Biased Statement the same way that "Just Wait for DH" is the most Survivor-Biased Statement.

In just one statement you clearly show case a complete and utter lack of understanding of what the other side has to do in order to win.

If you unironically think that "Do Bones" is a legitimate strategy against NOED, I can say without a doubt that you do not understand the balancing of the game. For example, Why survivors even think NOED is in play before the endgame in the first place? There is no warning before it activates!

It does not shock me that the people who support NOED have no understanding of the games mechanics because only bad killers use NOED. If you are good at the game, other perks can be far more effective. You use NOED if you are either using an End Game Build, or you can't keep gens up and secure a kill.

Full Disclosure, the main reason why I hate NOED has everything to do with how BHVR balances their game and Wraith. They love their statistics, especially their kill rates. Guess which perk heavily screws with that data? NOED. Guess which M1 killer got nerfed after being just decent because a bunch of people played him with NOED? Wraith.

I am sorry for being so rude, but "Just Do Bones" and "Just Wait for DH" are my two personal most hated arguements that I keep seeing pop up again and again.

I play Solo Q almost exclusively, so I can say that yes "Do Bones" is a legit argument. I do it all the time. It simply boils down to YOU don't want to do totem hunting. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if gens are flying, than no one is on totems, so maybe you should take the role.

But I don't know totem spawns- Than learn them. They are in corners, hidden behind bushes/map structure, if its a Hex than 9 times out of 10 out in the open. Run Small Game, Counterforce. Sure you wont be able to run the full meta Survivor build, but you'll get better for it rather than relying on those crutches.

Why should Survivors assume NOED? Well if you don't, don't cry like a child if the Killer runs it. Unless I can mentally count off ALL perks someone uses, I assume they are using something. NOED, Nurses, Dead Hard, Unbreakable.

It all boils down to YOU, yes, YOU OP, don't like NOED. Which you don't have to. I don't like going against Dead Hard, but I deal with that second chance perk, and even use it cause it's good. But just because you don't like something doesn't mean the Killer is in the wrong, or that it's bAD 4 Da GAmE

It's a game. Move on to the next match.

  • "My team decided to fix gens and not totem hunt, while the Killer played the whole match with 3 perks. Well now he has 4 and now we have to hunt down a totem, but I wanna escape and feel I should cause all gens were done, so the Killer is in the wrong."

    Fixed it.

That is helpful thank you. May I ask about her lunge? It seemed nonexistent when I tried to play her?

Lunge is the same as any Killers, though since she has such a unique attack animation it can feel off. The only time she ever gets an "increased" attack is right after coming out of a TV

  • Sadako/Onryo is a hit and run Killer, and the best way to use her ability is midchase and port to TVs.

The main issue and struggle with this though comes down to two factors. 1) This is a very heavy and difficult mindgame to play as it requires you to essentially be able to guess that the Survivors will either keep running to the TV or stop and try to hide while you have the Oblivious effect. If a Survivor catches on to what you are doing, they just have to Nurse you and do a 180 and they gained a lot of distance for free.

The second part comes with Survivors able to turn off your power. While yes it is "in line" with Sadako, ultimately anytime a Survivor can deny the Killers power without a suitable penalty, than the Killer suffers.

Take Plague for example. If I get infected, I get one of two choices. Either I don't cleanse and therefore become broken and a one shot, or I do and Plague becomes a ranged Killer. While yes I can deny Plague a part of her power, I am now put into a situation where if I get got in a bad spot, I am easier to take out of the game.

Now look at Sadakos condemnation. When I turn off a TV, I get the tape and a clock that builds up to 7. If it gets to 7, I can be insta Morid. So the IDEA is that while I am denying Sadako her power in return for getting a target on my back, the actual reality is pretty bad. First, Survivors don't gain Condemnation incredibly quickly, unless uou are running certain add ons or they keep turning off TVs. Their bar also pauses when you begin chasing them, so theres even more time it can take to get a reward as Sadako.

Another issue is that when you pull the tape, the TV to remove your condemnation is revealed to you, and even has an aura for a little bit if I remember correctly. So the risks of carrying a tape is further lessened since I know where to go to remove my condemnation.

Next let's go over her Manifestation. It's no doubt Sadako is built like the Wraith your mom says you have at home. While shes billed to be a stealth killer, shes a stealth killer with a lullaby, so you cant really sneak up on Survivors unless they aren't paying attention. And like Wraith, she can freely swap between her two modes, one where she is visible and can atta k, and one where she fazes in and out like Spirit and is unable to attack.

Like Wraith, when she goes from vis to invis, she doesn't really lose speed. Unlike Wraith though, she doesnt gain a speed increase while invis (She is able to phase through Survivors though so they can't block you in a pallet from what I understand, though Ive never really been able to confirm this so make of it what you will). Another thing she shares with Wraith is when she transfers back to a visible state she slows down, but unlike Wraith she doesn't gain an increased lunge distance.

So she shares similar mechanics to Wraith, but none of the strengths that help out Bing Bong Boi. While invis she also has passive phasing like Spirit which is a plus, but no where near as good and just like Spirit you can't see it so it's hard to capitalize on it. And as many others have pointed out, she shares teleport with Dredge, only Dredge has more options than Sadako and Survivors can't repeatedly turn off it's power like they can Sadakos.

Sorry thos became an essay, just started going a couldn't stop. I do still love Sadako, still one of my favorite Killers, reason why Im so sad Dredge is outshining her so well. I really hope they give major buffs to her kit. My dream one is removing Survivors knowing which TV to return their tape to. It would certainly add pressure AND give a secondary objective, rather than a "oh, let me pause ten seconds and quickly return this before I get hot with late fees"

  • I would consider myself a main, she is still one of my fav Killers cause I love Ringu. Im not really very good though, but I do post vids of my good DbD games to Youtube. Look up Specimin6

  • I was finally able to get on after BHVR screwed PS over with their incompetence as usual. Here was my saved vid, first ever game as Dredge.

    https://youtu.be/QgoCpSrU-rs

  • Amd don't forget BHVR won't ever do anything about it except say sorry than ask you to buy new skins. Small company guys, pwease help while we co tinue to fuxk up cause we cant do basic testing

  • Because tracking all of that stuff is probably hard work, and these devs onky care about quick and easy solutions to problems.

Much easier to track kills/escapes than anything else. Just like hockey, they onky track the scores a player makes right?

We get harassed and death wishes in after game chat for years, but if a small, very vocal group complains that a Bubba facecamped their Claudette, then everyone must have their cosmetics taken. I'm sure part of it is a PR thing.

Well that's all it is, PR stunt. No colorblind settings for years, on the basis of it could give an unfair advantage, one dev calls people asking for it annoying, one article written later calling BHVR out suddenly its "oh, we wanted to SURPRISE the community, but recent events ruined it"

Blackface Bubba, happening for years, BHVR doesn't care. Streamers suddenly complaining, suddenly BHVR cares. They only care when their image is threatened

  • I love her, my fav Killer.

That being said, why does a stealth Killer have a lullaby?

  • Well, it made the Devs feel good about themselves, and that is kind of the whole piint of virtue signalling. Same thing with making David gay. How has it changed the game in any way? It hasn't, but the Devs can now pat themselves on the back.

At least now when I tunnel Davids for being annoying scabs I can look forward to being called a bigot.

  • Something better would be if Survivors could somehow nullify NOED early into the game, maybe by hoing around and cleansing all the totems so NOED doesn't have a chance to spawn. Sure Survivors are running a risk the Killer doesn't have NOED, amd that meams gens wont fly faster than a speeding locomotive which gives the Killer a chance to snowball and win, but at least on the bright side games won't last five minutes.

  • Been farming this as Killer, I can confirm tou don't HAVE TO hook for them, but they just seem to appear randomly. By far these glyph challenges are the worst ones yet

  • If OP is lucky someone will write an article calling BHVR ableist, getting called any kind of ist is the only thing that seems to motivate BHVR.

No colorblind for years so as to prevent an "unfair advantage"? One dev calling players annoying and an article later, all of a sudden they wanted to "surprise players but it got ruined"

Blackface Bubba, in the game for years and players using that for trolling? Crickets. A few black streamers complaining about it and an article later its "completely against their idealogues"

Guarantee David is only gay cause they feared the articles. Get an article written about them, that's the way.

  • More often tgan not, its following my gut, and my gut twists when it sees a David. Every David I go against as a Killer as always been a terrible piece of excrement

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 13
