I don't care why, didn't have to grind my LF.
-
All I want is the challenges to become more general, even if they increase the difficulty. Example, rather than "Rescue three Survivors from the hook as Claudette" make it "Rescue 15 Survivors from the hook".
-
I mean, it's annoying when it happens to you, but Killer side there can be a few reasons.
1) Perks. I flip between my Pig and Freddy when I play Killer, but when I'm Freddy I need those Remember Me stacks, so once I find my obsession you know I'm on them like a serial killer on a sexually promiscuous teen. Dying Light is also another perk that "rewards" tunneling. I don't have it yet, but when I do my poor obsession is going to be able to fit semis in them with how much tunneling they're gonna get. BBQ & Chili, if you are my last Survivor needing a good hooking than it's dinner time for me.
2) But what about when you're not the obsession and it's not about the perks. Remember that a Killer's goal is to kill, a fact that is surprisingly easily forgotten. If I have two Survivors to chase, both of which are injured, and one will be on their third hook as opposed to the other who either hasn't been hooked or been hooked only once, who does it benefit me more to go after? Same logic applies to someone hooked once vs someone never hooked. I always go after who is easier to down and hook.
3) Finally, some people are just toxic. Sometimes you run into them once out of every ten games, other times every nine out of ten. I learned long ago best to just move on.
4) One more, but this is more of a me thing. If you are Quentin, you die. No ifs, and, or buts, I see a Quentin I will throw the game to kill that Quentin. I have no reason for this (I quite enjoy 2010 Nightmare) I just derive joy from the death of all Quentin's. And I admit, that kinda makes me a pos.
-
Doctor's cause I'm a stealth Survivor and all Doc has to do is walk around to find me before long.
Wraiths are also annoying since 2 out of very three I fight camp and tunnel off the hook and run NOED.

While the gates are open?
Come on now..this is getting ridicule with how some folks are posting the EGC is impossible to win if they don't get hatch first every game.
To be fair, exit gates are powered but not opened if Killer closes hatch. Survivors still have to open the gates, which is sooooooo difficult to do and it's hard and they should just get a free escape because whine whine whine whine whine.
-
Devs did say this kind of stuff was going to happen. Some games Killers will get lucky with hatch and exit gates, other games it will be the Survivors turns. Sad to say that the days Survivors could hold games hostage and get easy hatch escapes are gone.
Also, guess who the a hole Killer is that will wait at the hatch for Survivors to come before he closes it so he can hunt them down? THIS GUY!!!
-
I personally really enjoy Plague, but I use the puke more to protect gens in the beginning combined with her gen perk. To me she feels extremely strong at the start of the game, but if you can't get some quick downs than your doomed end game unless you run perks like NOED or Fire Up.
-
What happens with a DC: Ruins gameplay for fellow Survivors and makes games easier for Killers, denies both sides points, in some cases causes items, add one, and offerings to be wasted
Lobby Dodge: Now I gotta spend five minutes reconnecting with my friends before trying again
Yeah, totally comparable
-
I personally love Haddonfield as both Killer and Survivor, but the nap dies feel way to cluttered and easy to Bob and weave through.
-
Haddonfield is my favorite map for both Killer and Survivor. It's really small so it's easy to see everything.
Yamoaka is just long, and that's what's annoying about it.
-
Savvy:
Years of horror film viewing gives you a honed sense of the Killer's movements. Gain a notification within a 2/4/6 meter range of the Killer's Terror Radius.
"They always follow the same pattern"
High Risk:
Your will to succeed overrides fear of failure. When within the Killers Terror Radius, all great skill success zones are doubled in size, a failed skill check will cause a larger regress however.
"I don't know what I'm doing, but I'll do it anyways"
Stick:
Your skinny physique makes escaping easier, though your light weight makes carrying you easier for the Killer. Escape from a Chase 10/15/25% faster, if downed and picked up Killer moves 5/10/15% faster.
"You are 150 pounds wet!"
-
For me it's been latency issues. Either getting pushed slightly to the left into walls, or a running vault into a window turns into a slow crawl, and at one point getting teleported away from a gen I was working on just as a skill check hit, causing it to fail. I've checked on my end and my internet is good, and I've had these issues across multiple Killers.
-
I can't play PTB so obviously my opinion doesn't mean much, but I do think most of Pig's changes make logical sense.
EGC was primarily made to end games being taken hostage. Now is there not only a time limit to leave, they are even letting the Killer start the countdown. And while I feel it would only add to the tension to have a RBT to deal with, I understand why BHVR doesn't want to force Survivors to have to stay in what could become an unwinnable situation. Everyone could end up playing Piggy, Survivors would DC, I understand the decision.
What I don't understand is why the timer stops just because they are in my TR? RBTs only activate if a gen is repaired while you have it on, which is either the Survivors fault or the fault of another Survivor. And it's not like the timer keeps ticking if you down and/or hooks a Survivor. But with this new TR change, it feels like what was once a punishment on the Survivors is now also a punishment on Piggy. What I mean is that for RBT to count down, Piggy has to either roll the dice and hope the trapped Survivor doesn't get the correct boxes, or crouch and move at half speed (If that even works).
Again, I can't play PTB, so maybe it's not as bad as I'm thinking, but that TR timer change to me seems like a completely random and unnecessary nerf to a Killer who could have gained a surge in popularity and brought some change to the game.

Monitor and Abuse for sneaky sneaky Killer, and Dance with me for sneaky sneaky Survivor. Funny how so many Killers fall for the Dance With Me
-
@Dwight_Fairfield said:
I can't imagine why any survivor would hate this change. They are guaranteed the chance of a hatch escape no matter what. They don't even have to repair a single generator for someone to have a chance to get that hatch, or the exit gates should the killer close the hatch. Its basically a reward for laziness.
The old hatch system required a minimum of two generators to be done. Now there's hatch or exit gates on offer and no gen repair needed. I mean how can this possibly be seen as a negative from a survivors' perspective?
Probably because the Killer isn't forced to sit there and watch them escape?
-
So if not enough gens are done and the Killer closes the hatch and begins the Collapse, is there any way aside from a Key to open the Hatch again? If not, will keys get a buff to the drop rate?
-
I like it, it will certainly up the tension a bit more now in games. Also, I love how salty a lot of Survivor mains are being now that Killers have a chance to prevent escapes.
Also, Killers being able to open exit gates just seems hilarious to me.
-
I'd say it depends on your current build. I found my SC becoming so much more useful while running MoM, but if I don't have MoM on I find it kind of a waste. Just bring in a med-kit.
-
As a Survivor I find it meh, and as a Killer a meh. Oh no, I have to hit a guy again! Flip Flop is actually the more dangerous perk I think! I've esacped twice now thanks to a Killer slugging me, only for me to crawl away, recover, they find me and pick me up, and I'm gone!
Flip Flop OP, plz nerf
-
I think it's fine now personally. I've been running it and only got it to proc twice. First time gens got finished just as the Killer swung, hit by a NOED, got hooked and abandoned. Second time got downed rescuing from a hook after 4th gen, figure I'll get saved, they finish last gen and leave. I haven't really played Killer since Ash dropped so maybe they see the problem worse, but right now I just want it to be useful. Flip Flop has had more of an impact so far for Entity's sake.
That being said, if there had to be a Nerf, I'd say make MoM only usable once. Of course, doing that makes MoM and b version of Dead Hard, which is probably what most Killer Mainz want. Another useless Survivor perk.
-
I understand people are trying to give notice to what they perceive are issues in the game, but every "I'm leaving" post in any games always reads to me as "I want attention"
-
Pig- I play as a Survivor. Crouch around, work on gens, follow my fellow Survivors as they run from the Killer.
Spirit- I just pick a Survivor and follow them around. After I start circling them they tend to realize I'm a friendly ghost and we have fun.
Freddy- I just stand by them, following them when they move. It's less being nice and me having a laugh as they frantically run around while having no idea where I am.
-
Yeah, this just comes across as you b*****n cause you lost. Your inability to mindgame is not BHVR's fault. Good place as any to say "git gud scrub"
-
O recently got the have three Survivors hooked in the basement at once achievement, only because the Survivors acted like complete and utter potatoes.
Down a Meg, take her to the basement. Just as I finish the hook, Dwight tries to unhook right in front of me. Grab Dwight, begin his hook. Finish, see Nea run in for the unhook on Meg. Grab Nea, hook her, get achievement, THAN Jake runs down and begins to unhook Meg. He gets hooked for his stupidity.
Sacrificed all four because none of them could leave each other alone.

@TatsuiChiyo Stealth is not the way to play against Freddy, you don't even know where he is coming from. Survivors should simply split up (similar to Legion) and push gens.
Freddy has no real reliable way of finding Survivors outside of perks except by stumbling on them, which can be said of almost all Killers. What I meant is when you are traversing the map you shouldn't be just running around, simply cause if Freddy sees you and pulls you into the dream world, you won't really be able to hide from him.
-
You can learn what Killer you are up against pretty early by paying attention:
Trapper: Look for bear traps on the ground, listen for their snap, whatever you do don't let him eat him some ginger snaps
Wraith: Listen for a bell, a ding ding ding
Billy and Leatherface: Listen for chainsaws
Nurse: Listen for a ghostly scream
Doctor: Listen for Survivor screams OR look for a static distortion on the Survivor names
Pig: Look for Jigsaw boxes
Huntress: Listen for humming
Micheal: Listen for Halloween soundtrack
Hag: Kind of difficult to see, but look for her mud markings or you can hear her teleport
Freddy: Listen for children's lullaby or see hazy distortion on Survivor names
Clown: Listen for that hearty laugh
Spirit: She screams and has that hair that reaches for the sky
Legion: Deep Wound marker on Survivor names
Plague: Look for either cleansing fountains or a sickly splotch on Survivor names
Obviously if you see the Killer you will also know what you're dealing with, but if you know what equals what it can help you have a slight advantage
Ex. See a Nightmare effect on another Survivor, know that stealth is the way to play. Or hear Micheals music play, pay attention to your surroundings.
-
NOED is the exact same as SC or DS, a tool to be used that comes with risk and rewards.
When you use NOED, you are actually crippling yourself for 90% of the match, taking up a perk slot for an ability you may not even use, either because of a 4J, hatch escape, or all totems cleansed. Even if the perk does activate, it can either be cleansed or only get you a Survivor or two.
I do agree with OP though. A Killers job is not to defend the gens, it's to sacrifice Survivors. It's in a Killer's best interest to protect the gens, but the match is over when the last Survivor either escapes or dies.
The Killers job is to kill. The Survivors is to survive.
-
I'm having fun with her, but I do personally keep myself in the low ranks so I always go against potatoes. Not for any feeling of superiority, but so I can have fun which is what I want as a Killer. Survivor is where I try and see how high I can climb (7 currently being my record)
That being said, I feel I'm playing Plague unconventionally. Yes I puke on Survivors to get them sick, but that's just so I can find them when I slug them (Love that puke noise notification). Mostly I use my puke to trap gens and totems. If I puke on a gen, walk away, and see a Survivor get sick, I just go right back to the gen.
I do hope she'll get a movement buff to her puking though. I do believe Killers SHOULD be OP to the point you DON'T want to be found. Seems like the point of the game to me anyways...
-
Fine as is. I just finished a game where I finished the last gen and the totem next to me lit up. Cleansed it, opened the door, and left.
Even setting that aside, the perk is easy to beat if you just cleanse totems. They give free points so I don't see a reason not to if you're not being chased, and it's pretty funny to break five totems and see NOED in the end screen. People who complain about it in my opinion are just crying because they don't wanna clean totems.
-
I know she just came out, and it's probably because I am a jaded POS, but Jane Romero's design just bothers me. She looks like she's about to accuse the Entity of racism and sexism and demand reparation.
-
I think it comes down to perks, add one, maps, etc.
Example. You will do a lot better as Freddy on Lery's than anywhere else because there is no grass to tip off Survivors to your location, whereas it's easy to see Piggy coming. Whereas somewhere dark or with a lot of places to hide such as Yamoaka estate will help Piggy better.
Good perks for Pig are Surveillance, Overwhelming Presence, Sloppy Butcher, Discordance, Monitor and Abuse, NOED, Remember Me.
That's just me though
-
Freddy- Cause if I'm going to troll you, I may as well make it a challenge for myself.
Pig- I'm just a nice person giving all Survivors safety helmets while they do dangerous repair work on generators.
Kate- If I'm going to be looking at someone's butt, might as well make it a hot girl.
-
The only real balance I think it needs is just have the number of gens increased to open the hatch from two to four
-
I would certainly appreciate color blind mode. When I go against a Hex Ruin, I HAVE to cleanse it or else my repair check is a game of luck because I CAN'T SEE THE DAMN SKILLCHECK! It's not TO terrible and fills me with some small pride when I do pull off repairs, but it's certainly not enjoyable for me.
-
It's so much fun annoying people with Freddy, especially since so many people think he is "weak" and therefore can't do anything. Than you wreck their day because you just keep pulling them into dream state, they "escape", and you just keep going for tha booty!
-
I mean, I enjoy my toolboxes and medkits. Keys if I have them. I also don't really care if Survivors want to use items when I'm killing them.
-
Honestly what I feel they should do is remove the Obsession part entirely. From what it sounds like every Survivor with DS will be made the Obsession so long as they get hooked, so there's no real way for the perk not to proc.
Whereas Killers with perks such as Dying Light, and Survivors who run OoO can get builds and strategies screwed over because Kill3rH8er got himself hooked. I feel like a lot of players are going to get mad over this "obsession switcheroo" thing. -
It's rare but if I find the open hatch and the Killer is coming towards me, I do a little t bag dance of two or three crouches while making the Zoidberg sound to myself
-
I think it'll be a good change, though others have already voiced the concerns about slugging (I know that's what I'll do, though I tend to slug anyways)
My main concern is obsession changing. I run Dying Light, so I'd rather not have my bonus taken away because someone gets unhooked. It'll also be MUCH easier to tell if someone runs DS since from what I understand I'll see the obsession changing -
Doesn't invalidate my point, though I do admit my mistakeNoShinyPony said:@TatsuiChiyo said:

Everyone keeps saying Survivors are a team. They're not. Survivors are a group who share the same goals, but at the end of the game all that matters is whether you escaped or not.
Now, I'm not saying just leave other Survivors on hooks. Fellow Survivors are a precious resource. The more Survivors there are the quicker gens get done, the easier it is to pull you off a hook, less chances Killer will be looking for you, better odds of escape. Having more Survivors is beneficial in the long run.
But you also need to look at things objectively. Is that Dwight on the other end of the map? Maybe Meg is cleansing that totem. Claudette could be injured and have been hooked twice already. It can be annoying to see, but sometimes it's better not to go for the save
Besides, being to altruistic can bite the team. I've gotten many a 4K simply because Survivors hook swarmed.
It sucks when they don't save you though. -
Really the only buff I want for Freddy is a quicker time to pull people into the Dream World, or for them to be unable to perform any actions while being pulled in. As it is now, a lot of Freddy's can only watch as Survivors finish gens or cleanse totems simply because they CAN'T do anything to stop them while they wait out the timer.Stinky said:Personally i don't get why people think Freddy needs a buff. He's 100% Invisible, quite fast and pulling Survivors into the Dreamworld gives the effect simillar to Thanatophobia and BBQ. Then you get to put Perks on top of that... That's pretty brutal right there.
I've only played him once through an add-on and even without perks i easily wiped the floor with the survivors.
But as for basic gameplay, Freddy is a monster at putting pressure on Survivors if played right. -
Z Block or Red Paintbrush for Freddy, simply because he needs a shorter amount of time to pull survivors into the dream world. 5 seconds should be a baseline in my opinion, 7 seconds gives Survivors to much time to mess around
-
I understand your point, but this is just how online games work. Newer players need to learn, and you can't expect other players to baby them. Either they will learn from experience, do what I did and go watch more experienced players to pick up tricks, or they'll faze out. I do agree something needs to be done about intentional deranking though.
I admit I do it, though it's only to try out new Killers, so it kind of makes things an even playing field. But there are plenty of Killers AND Survivors who do it purely for an "ez win" and to bully the yungins. Totally not cool. -
So if everyone uses a perk, causing it to be OP, meaning it should be removed, than you must also want DS, SC, Balanced Landing, Adrenaline, Deliverance, and Unbreakable gone. They are after all very OP and used quite a bit, so they should be gone. Besides, before them Survivors had to escape, or find someone to heal them, or hope a fellow survivor felt altruistic.PubStar87 said:1. Before it existed Killers had to do their own dirty work and go find us
2. Every Killer with half a brain uses it now,
IMO if EVERY killer is using something it's broken
3. You're taking away time that all 3 other survivors could have been doing something else, now we have to hide in lockers, which by the way are rarely right by a GEN
4. Those unlucky enough to be 41 meters away are screwed, Mr. Killer is coming for you now and since they got 4 seconds they know exactly where you're going
5. Yep, there's a perk to counter, that hasn't been in the Shrine yet, way to force people to pay to win
6. Hiding behind Gens hasn't worked since whichever patch made SURV outlines clearer
7. It makes for a very un-fun game for those of us that don't get caught but keep having to jump in lockers every 30 seconds because teammates
8. So what did Killers do before BBQ&C existed? Oh yeah, work for their score
9. It's too complicated for dumb players, play any match as SURV at rank 5 to rank 20 and you'll find your teammates have no clue what to do against it, or have no regard that it exists at all, ensuring an un-fun match for you
It's too OP
I don't even use it when I play Killer it feels cheap
There has to be a better way
Hell at least give em a skill check or something, as of right now it's simply too easy for K's
You also mention counters are "pay to win" since they haven't shown up yet. When was the last time you BBQ&C entered the shrine? Been a long time. Most players have to BUY Leatherface, one of the weakest Killers imo, and grind him to get the perk. Not like the perk is free.
BBQ&C is designed to promote Killers to move, to not camp, one of the biggest complaints ALL Survivors have. You just do y like that the perk rewards them for not camping rather than punishing.
And before you go "oh killer main", no. Rank 8 Survivor, rank 13 Killer. I play Survivor far more, and have no problem with BBQ&C, or any of the Killer perks. I just get better and not whine on the forums. -
Really Freddy only needs two buffs:
The first is that while in Dream transition, Survivors should be locked from doing gens, cleansing totems, healing, etc. Freddy as he is now I'd the only Killer who has a time limit before he can defend his objectives. The absolute worst is being unable to pick up a Survivor being healed.
Second is how easy it is to wake yourself up. I think when survivors are asleep, all skill checks should have their appearance rate decreased by 75%, or only appear once you cross a certain threshold. Survivors should use the wake up feature as the go to, with failed skill checks being the last resort.
Now to be fair though, the one thing that makes these buffs unfair is Freddy's wall hacks. The ability to always know the sleeping Survivors locations is his power, so I think Survivors should be able to see the auras of awake Survivors every few seconds to help guide them.
It wouldn't be the first time Freddy used a kid to get him more victims. -
Honestly I'd say that's pretty subjective. Putting aside perks and add-ons, each Killer still has their own advantages and disadvantages in the situation. Sure Micheal can OHK a Survivor, but he doesn't have the chasing power of a good Nurse. But Nurse's chasing power is meaningless against a sufficiently stealthy Survivor, whereas no matter how well you hide chuckle boi Doctor will find you given enough time.
Huntress has range, Pig has stealth, Hag has control. But, to answer your question OP, there is ONE Killer who holds a strength no other Killer can compare to. One whose mere power causes Survivors I run into to DC at nearly triple the rate of any other Killer, or allow spider daddy to give them a nice hug at the happy happy hook.
That is of course the man of your dreams, Freddy! Seriously, at least once every three games a Survivor DCs once they hear those sweet, sweet nursery rhymes. I at least partially understand, since once you're pulled into the Dream World there is no hiding from Freddy. But it's so easy to escape from him as a Survivor, I don't understand it.
-
The 4 man slug, especially with Freddy since they can't try to die in a corner.
-
I play Freddy because I slug. More often than not, it's not even strategy, I just find a survivor, begin my Chase, see another and take the detour to pull them into dream state. Before long, the survivors are in a never ending cycle that ends with everyone on the ground since I don't stop moving.
Sweet dreams! -
Freddy only needs two changes, one necessary and the other one would make things more interesting.
The first change should be Survivors being put into a dream state should be unable to perform any action, or at least have their current action cancelled. I don't mean vault or pallet throws, but gen repairs or totems. This would help Freddy be able to defend his gens and totems better.
A second change that would make things interesting is the removal of random pallets and vaults in the dream world, showing Freddy's reality warping abilities.
