  • As a Killer I've had to many games where the last few seconds suddenly Survivors switch so they can run items "secretly", or switch to their Blendettes and what not. SWF groups I'm sure. I tend to just take it on instinct personally, whether or not I "feel" the game if it makes sense.

As a Survivor, what did Kate do!? I feel we Kate players don't have any reputation in DbD, so is this the beginning of ours?

  • Translation: Killers use legit strat I don't like so I rage quit like the raging child I am and am angry I am being punished for my actions. They are also using a perk I don't like because I dont want to go find totems for extra points and just want things handed to me. I am a trash player and want everything handed to me, so I just go make terrible bait posts on the internet.

  • I mean when I do something brainless I say I'm being a potato

  • Hyper Focused: Your ability to focus in allows you to easily focus on the objective ahead of you, granting you a precognitive glance into a Survivors next move.

Downside: You become do focused that you forget important things quite easily, so every 1 out of 3 weapon swings you forget to swing the weapon.

  • I cant get any map that's NOT the new one haha. Just sucks the maps gen trophy is bugged

  • As others have said, just salty losers trying to save face. I get the salt all the time for my loadout ranging from OO and overused (Ruin and Surveillance) to weak and I must have brain damage for using (Bloodhound and Spies from the Shadows) I even get flak for using Wraith. I just stopped caring and now enjoy some pudding every time. Mmmmm, that salty pudding.

  • Quentin. I only ever run Moris for a challenge, or I see a Quentin. No reason either, Quentin is just my Dinkleberg

  • When I first read it I couldn't understand if I still had to kick it or not to get the affect. Watched some streamers, saw it was an automatic regression basically, and felt pretty happy.

Ill miss old Ruin as a Survivor, i didn't see it to much but when I did it could help make things interesting by being a great skill check trainer.

As a Killer, Ive had it on like, 2 Killers, my Wraith amd Demodog. I actually prefer the new Ruin since ill be able to get right to the chase, whereas old Ruin felt like "I might get two minutes, might get 2 seconds" while new Ruin feels like it may last a bit longer. Plus add in Surveillance, my favorite Pig perk, and Ill have a decent map awareness in some games.

  • Its to draw attention. I tend to check it, 9 times out of 10 its a survivor who thinks they can lead a chase but go down ridiculously quickly

  • And now you learn why several Killers dodge suspected SWF lobbies. Its not fear of the SWF or desire for the ez clap. Comms just ruin the fun for the Killer, and there is no way to predict when a SWF group uses it.

To help Survivors better see the perspective, ask yourself this. What if every other game the Killer could 100% see your aura all the time, there was no way for you to hide, but you couldn't see the Killers aura or even hear a heartbeat when they got close. Thats essentially SWF on comms in a nutshell for a killer. Massive amounts of info gain with absolutely zero loss or work on your part.

Again, that is why Killers dodge against SWF teams.

  • PS4 Player here, a few hundred hours. I ran into framework issues on my old PS4, but since upgrading to a pro they are now much less frequent.

Wait times can vary, somedays I load straight in, others it can take a few minutes. Generally no longer than five, I think ten was the longest. Same when I play Survivor.

As for SWF, i don't see to many personally, but the ones I do see I tend to dodge because of to many negative experiences with more toxic groups, and I dont see the point in playing against voice comms in a game not built around them.

  • As a Killer, an SWF group. I've dealt with enough annoying groups tht id rather just not deal with it. I don't care for items or cosmetics, so they can all have boxes, keys, maps, don't care. I've also at times just had a feeling in my gut that I won't have fun if I play this group, so I'll leave those.

As Survivor, I guess if things either take to long or something comes up.

  • Kate, started playing right around Curtain Call, figured Windows of Opportunity would be invaluable to my potato self, and quickly realized Survivors were just skins so I've just stuck with her

  • Run NOED and Deerstalker, hook ND kill two survivors, single around until the other two finish gens, down them both, open the door, find and hook, profit

  • I personally like Ormond, it's the only map that flips off BOTH sides. Terrible for Killers because it's so large and time consuming to traverse, terrible for Survivors cause it's so open no where to hide, terrible visibility makes it difficult to find Survivors and find pallets and hiding spots in a chase. Map doesn't even really benefit any Killers with their powers. It's kind of beautiful how ######### it is

  • I'd be down, especially if it's power can be all about tracking. Don't know how that would work, but it'd be cool

  • A good "Nerf" would simply be labelling SWF groups with an icon, Entity Claws for example, over the names of all members in the group so Killers can be aware of what they are getting into and, if they so choose, let them dodge it.

"But only bby Killers dodge git gud"

Not everyone wants to go against a team on comms, and since you can't prevent that and they can't really balance around comms in DBD, it's only fair Killers get to choose.

  • YOLOSWAG4ENT1TY it and just go open a door, hope toxic fat coughi boy there has some mercy on my poor Survivor butt

cleansing totems is not the objective of the game. I guess if survivors escape out hatch using a key you're to blame for not looking for hatch?

    Found someone who doesn't cleanse

  • Definitely needs a look over on Killer side, much more difficult compared to Survivors. Loaded into a game yesterday as a Oni, barely took two steps before three Survivors DC'd and ten seconds later the last one escaped with the hatch. Endgame showed the escaped Survivor was a Tapp running only the three Tapp perks. Kind of irritating that I lost out on offerings and add one simply because someone wanted a trophy.

  • I just consider it a failsafe personally. It's rare it gets to that point for me, but when it does NOED helps speed up the process for me. And the best part is that Survivors have no one to blame but themselves for not cleansing totems

  • People are sore losers, just if it's them. Hell today I was called try hard trash after slugging for a 4K, whereas all the Survivors it's were running SC, DH, Adrenaline, and Spine Chill.

I was also playing Spirit, so add in that hatred filled source lol

  • New Killer, gonna call him Oni for now, may have an ability related to blood since that was focused on. Maybe his ability is related to tracking? Not to many Tracking Killers so I think it would be a nice addition.

  • I feel that way about Quentin. I like the actor and character well enough, and rather enjoy the 2010 Nightmare. But something about that sleepy boi makes my bloodlust flow forth uncontrollably...

  • Gotten Adept Nightmare with old Freddy as Killer.

Survivor side, was playing against a Freddy on Game, had found a purple key (Plunderers is the best) and found hatch when we finished the last gen. Teammate was hooked do I ran up and saved them (Old Freddy) and immediately began booking it. Freddy had started putting me to sleep so I led him on a merry chase to the Hatch. Ended up using the key, but the other three made it out as well, so I let successful. Even had an honest gg from the Freddy player who respected the risk.

  • I mean, that's kind of the point though is that it's a gamble. Killers can't tell what perks Survivors run either, whether that key is green, purple or pink, that box has a brand new part. All players roll the dice and hope they're build will be helpful.

And b4 people scream Killer has better advantage, again, kind of the point

  • Freddy most likely, which is funny because he was changed solely because he "wasn't fun" originally

  • Honestly all perks "reward failure" Let me list my perks for BOTH of mains

    Survivor (Kate)

Plunderers Instinct- I don't know all the chest placements save for the basement without this perk, ND I also get higher grade items (keys) quite easily, which helps me escape

Adrenaline- U didn't properly stealth a Killer or loop in a chase enough to not get hit, or may have even been downed. Suddenly last gen pops and boom, up a health state and running quicker

Lightweight- I'm not stealthing around the map the entire time, but it's okay cause my scratch marks, the Killers bread crumbs, vanish quicker

Left Behind- I didn't risk it all to save my teammates and didn't repair gens/open the door, but the hatch is revealed to me within a certain range

Now my Killer, good ol Freddy

NOED- Would we be here without this? I didn't stop Survivors from repairing their gens and now get a chance at some OHKs depending on if they broke all my totems or not

Remember Me- Again, didn't stop them from gen repair, but depending on how much I wacked my obsession I can slow down door opening.

BBQ&Chili- I don't automatically know where all the Survivors are despite plenty of hints (gen placement, crows, scratch marks, notifications)

Pop Goes the Weasel- I have allowed Survivors to repair gens, but now I can knock them back 15 percent after a hook

Now some of these require other than objectives to be met (hooking Survivors, repairing gens) Point is though is that ALL perks are rewards in one way, and plenty of them have counters. Wanna know NOEDs?

    Cleanse totems. Done.

  • Why do so many people think a Killers job is protecting gens? Read the name. Killer. Now, wait until it's your turn to use the brain cell today and think. Killer. Killer.

Where in the name of the Entity do you think that implies gen protection? A Killers job is to kill Survivors. If a certain Killer wants to play for points than they can have at it, but aside from that all gens are good for is finding Survivors and slowing the game down.

Survivors job is to survive. They cannot accomplish this task until they escape the trial. Repairing gens and opening the door means nothing if they don't cross the finish line.

If you don't have the foresight to cleanse totems and get free points (more BP in case winning the game isn't working for you), that's not on the Killer. You just need to git gud scrub.

  • bUT OnlY KiLLeRs Are T0XiC!

Yeah, ran into some entitled Survivors myself who want to "punish" Killers for playing how they want.

  • I never understand some people's viewpoints. I'm a Killer, hunting Survivors is literally my only purpose (I know some out there believe my job is to defend gens, but who cares bout those things. Spider Daddy wants his hugs) If I as a Killer know that a Survivor is nearby, I'ma gonna go get that Survivor. If you want to lead me away from your hooked buddy, you need to lead me away, not try to loop me around them.

Good thing Survivors are idiots or else Spider Daddy wouldn't be getting his hugs.

  • I got yelled at by a 3 Man SWF for camping today as I played my first ever game of Demogorgon. Game starts and I move towards a far gen where I see Survivors. Down one, injure another, hook my downed Survivor, injured one runs up to save so I smack them down like they deserve, go hook them, first one gets unhooked, move over, smack a survivor, wash, rinse, repeat.

Highlights include following scratch marks to a locker, pouncing at a vaulting Survivor, and downing someone who wanted to be a hero and crouch in front of the hook five feet away from where I picked up a Survivor.

Felt bad for the fourth Survivor who soloed four gens while I dealt with the Three Stooges. By the time I killed all three, hatch spawned in my little playground. Closed it, trapped both exit doors with portals. All I had to do was wait, he triggered a portal, and it was bye bye Meg.

Anyways, the three yelled at me for hunting Survivors. Guess I broke a bunch of the Survivor rules haha

  • So this is more of what I assume is a post game chat because it's the only way that makes sense.

So the way I figure, it was someone unhappy with my old Freddy build pre rework. I ran Knockout, Infectious Fright, NOED, and Remember Me, slugging Survivors mercilessly.

One day though I load in to play some Survivor, get into a lobby, and get a message from the Killer that simply said "F**k you". Now I main Kate Dansen, and never run items since I use Plunderers Instinct, so I doubt they were angry at me for Survivor shenanigans.

Anyways, game starts up and when I say I was tunnelled, I mean tunneled. Not, "oh Killer ran after me instead of a healthy Survivor reeee". I mean I watched this Plague walk up to Survivors, see my beautiful blue jacketed Kate was not in there, and walk away. After a gen or so I get spotted band chased, and I will admit to having a bad Chase and getting downed pretty easily.

I than just crawled around as the Plague followed me continuously puking on me, nodding it's head and whacking me with it's beating stick.

Finally die, laugh to myself cause of the stupidity of the situation, report for griefing and report to PSN for the message. Don't know if DBD did anything, but I do know PS "took action" so who knows.

Honest to Entity none of this is made up.

  • Rule #6236:

If a Survivor makes a mistake you must count to ten Mississippi before chasing after them (Mistakes can include failing a skill check, running into objects, slow vaulting, being spotted, etc.)

  • Do what you need to enjoy the game. I keep myself in green ranks as a Survivor normally because while I like the challenge there is still some variety. Killer wise I keep myself in the 15-20. So much less stressful, I can try out new Killers or different perk builds, and just sit back and have fun.

  • And that's why I dodge SWF groups. It's just not fun for me, and why play if I'm not having fun? Might take a bit longer to find a game, but at least I don't hate myself

  • I know I have fun with him, but I run slug builds and Freddy is THE slugging Killer.

  • Like anything else it's situational. Against highly altruistic Survivors a Killer has no real reason NOT to proximity camp. It can also depend on perks, Dying Light for example. If I run Dying Light and I find my obsession, it might be prudent for me to camp my hooked obsession to get Dying Light to go off.

Of course there is always the reverse of camping. If Survivors know you are camping a hooked Survivor, there is very little chance they will come for the save. I've escaped quite a few games because the Killer wanted to camp which gave me time to run gens or find the hatch. Kindred makes it even better since that perk actively punishes the Killer by letting all Survivors know that the Killer is indeed camping.

tl;dr Camping is like any other strategy, situational and with just as much potential for success as failure.

  • Is Freddy losing his dream tracking ability? As in he will no longer see the auras of sleeping Survivors?

I really think the EGC only needs better exit gate spawns. It's killer sided, but that alone will fix it up quite nicely

I wouldn't have a problem with reworked exit gate spawns, though I think some maps one side is just going to be screwed.

Example, Haddonfield is Killer sided for exit gates since the map is so small, along with the Game maps. I main Freddy and after I close the hatch it's pretty easy to find those pesky Survivors.

For Survivors though, Lery's and Yamoaka's Estate so long as you are patient. Example, played against a Clown on Lery's where I became the last Survivor and Clown found the hatch. I was near a gate but waited a bit in one of the dark rooms (huge risk I admit) but after a moment I heard the heartbeat come only to leave a few seconds later. I rushed the gate and opened it just as the heartbeats returned and escaped with a few seconds left.

I think the devs had it right when they said a huge part of EGC will be luck based, it's just both having luck and being smart.

  • In other news, more Survivors crying because they no longer get a free escape.

    @TatsuiChiyo

hold up. I’m confused. What else is plunderers Instinct used for then?

Increases chances of finding rarer items like keys, maps, good medkits and toolboxes.

  • Thought Boil Over made my wiggle bar speed up quicker. I also thought Plunderers Instinct was only for finding chests.

My ever growing collection of keys and maps is glad that is no longer the case.

  • Agree with the sentiment, not with the practice. DCing just screws the other players more often than not. They lose offerings, items and add one, even depip. I recommend just going AFK for a few games a day personally, but in the end it's your game.

Though this is why I keep myself in the 15-20 range. I want to have fun as a Killer, and those ranks are the only place I can do that

  • Or...orrrrr...cleanse the totems. Also, as a bonus, 600 points for every totem!

  • I once got a Smoking Splinter on my Freddy Bloodweb. I found it hilarious.

Huh. Never thought about it like that. Wait so then in reality his power is just "you do everything slower" then? No wonder why ppl are asking for a rework/buff

His actual power is pretty strong. When you put a Survivor to sleep, so long as they remain in the dream world, you see their aura at all times unless they are in your terror Radius, essentially a built in Deerstalker. If a Freddy knows what they're doing, you will be spending the game crawling around until either everyone is down and hooked or you die.

Freddy is only a weak tier killer because of how easy it is for Survivors to wake themselves up (blow a gen, fail a heal skill check, Adrenaline, other Survivors), and the sheer fact that it takes 7 seconds to put a Survivor to sleep, which gives Survivors plenty of time to finish a gen, cleanse a totem, finish opening the exit gate, get to a good looping spot.

  • An interesting idea introduced in the 2010 Nightmare was the concept of micro naps and being so tired once you fell asleep you couldn't wake back up. Maybe that's the Freddy rework?

Each Survivor has a "exhaustion meter" slowly build up over the game from interaction with Freddy's power. Example, Claudette at the start of the game is put to sleep in the current manner (7 seconds). Using SC she wakes up, only to be put to sleep again, this time it taking shorter time to fall asleep (5 seconds). The tier will also influence skill checks, with odds of getting them less and less until the Survivor reaches the final tier where they are instantly put to sleep and they get no skill checks anywhere, meaning the only way to wake back up is by another Survivor.
