DbD does have rain, in the Red Forest realm. It's one of the reasons why it's the most gorgeous realm.
I would like to see realms and maps given more "personality" than just the landscape. However, I am worried about a few things:
- Balance. These ideas would have to impact the game in such a way that changes the gameplay, but doesn't overly benefit either side. Your idea to have rain regress every outdoor gen, for example, would just break the game's balance. It's Ruin without the perk, since most maps on the Red Forest realm have, at most, two indoor gens, if I'm not mistaken.
- Complexity. If the game becomes too complicated, newbies will probably abandon it because they can't figure out how to play it. Hell, many newbies abandon the game now because they can't figure out how to play it.
- Performance. We all know DbD isn't exactly the most optimized game out there, particularly on consoles. Adding more effects could tank the framerate for a large portion of the playerbase.
It would spur the creation of sheltered gens that have the advantage of not being affected by rain, but have less spots for survivors to work on it. There would also be a min counter for gens in the rain like base 3 and a min for sheltered gens. BALANCE.
But realistically, gens should have more variables to them. You can set your watch to how quickly a coordinated team eats gens that have no protections in place.
Complicated? Kinda. I'd say nuanced. But it wouldn't be shallow which would be worse.
Performance issues aside, it needs some future goals. Additional environmental interactions besides pallets, walls, and totems would be very welcome addition.

I actually like the idea of having more interactive maps as it can become quite stagnant when nothing actually changes a part from the scenery. I know it’s a small change, but I love that you now hear the snow crunching beneath your feet on Ormond when you play as survivor.
I think it could be quite cool if you could knock things over as a survivor or stand on branches which then alerted the killer. It would definitely add to the horror atmosphere as these are things we constantly see in horror movies.
Imagine sneaking off into the corn, only to then stand on a branch which alerts the killer. I’d actually love it. 😂
Heavy snow filled areas would leave footprints.
Oil slicks near vaults would turn fast vaults into slow or medium. There's so much they could do.
Main question would be what would survivors be able to do if survivors could do things as well.
Maybe they use a one use item that creates the hazard in the first place. Like shocking the killer with an electrical box, but it makes the transformer explode disabling all lights in the area forcing the use of special flashlights you can't blind with.

The Mascot.
Personal perks:
Corporate
Below Minimum Wage
Osha Violation

Do we really want to villainize educators?
On a side note: isn't Adam a teacher? Why don't we get more teacher apparel for him?
-
Going by the F13th game: he has teleportation, instant kills, heat vision, traps/throwing knives, and rage mode. He also can environmentally afflict survivors by reducing their ability to see and stay calm, and they'll involutarily trip and make noises.
On DBD, it could be anything. A number of those abilities could be converted to perks. But his base abilities could be anything.
It could even be new mechanic. They were testing stacking abilities on top of each other with the blight serum Halloween offering.
Maybe he could instant kill instead of hooking. Each hook generates fear for surrounding survivors which feeds rage mode. Hooked/killed survivors respawn 2 times.

The Pyramid Head one was LEGENDARY!
who would have thought the people saying the 4 is shaped like PH‘s Head would be right in the end 😂
I dunno what I was feeling the moment the 4 turned and then the reveal trailer played, but I know I was smiling the entire time.

The Harpy. Flying killer, bird themed. I'm postin this till I'm proven wrong.
-
The only legit issue is people DC'ing outta spite.
-
The Harpy. Flying killer will be a thing. :o
-
So one real issue (framerate) and the rest is cheating. Oh wait, i meant to say accessibility options lmao.
Edit: but srsly we need better framerate. I seen video of PC Nurse and the transition was so smooth while blinking. SMOOOOOOOTH.

Yeah they tried to DC for hatch. Kinda sad I did expect the same amount of respect from them as their organization and skills. I guess not though.
Sir, I believe that is a Tech.
Y'see when you purposely crash your game, it's just another tool in the survivor arsenal and tools are MEANT to be used.
Now you may be thinking to yourself "Wow that's lame" but it's actual an extremely high skill ceiling technique that frankly you're too smooth brained to understand.
Now I demand you escort me to the exit gates so I can leave this wretched place. You've wasted enough of my time with your quote unquote "killing".
-
Wait, where is this news? Is there other stuff included like the Clown rework?
Feed me Semour.
-
Matchbox is only 105%? I swear it feels faster in-game.
Torn Notebook has the issue of not being clear on where you can Blink. You can phase through some objects, but not others. It's really jarring. The extra Blink also adds nothing when going into tight loops. It's only for people running out in the open.

I play a pretty clean game, but I have to agree that that's not what DBD incentivizes killers to do.
If DBD wants to be a fair game, there needs to be more win conditions other than "kill one player then snowball" for killer.
One example is the Basement solely exists to tunnel people to death. Monstrous Shrine enables it as well despite everyone saying it's garbage. It's a perk designed to keep people in the basement permanently which is just fine by the devs.
-
I miss some of the subtleties like brief immunity after hurting yourself or blowing a gen, and his powers requiring him to take on a game of tag-like playstyle. You had to be tricky to win.
Keeping track of people outside his TR and natural gen stalling was great too. Though the self-care meta was booming at the time so all you saw were people waking up constantly almost on cue right in front of you.
And everyone always just tunneled with him. Terrible.
I'd like some of his old power to bleed back into his new one. Maybe a third sleep tier. I dunno.

If you get to see what killer brought in these matches, then am i right to assume you escaped in these game?
If so, i highly doubt they use hack because hackers usually won't lose no matter what because that's the point of using cheats.
You see the killer's loadout at the end dead or alive once the match is finished. Have you played the game within the last 2 years?

That's not how it works...do you read any of the dbd news on this site?
Yes, and I kept regurgitating the information I was fed to my teammates as we got rank 20 killer after rank 20 killer while I sat in red.
What's that called? Cognitive dissonance?

Wait, is console for payday 2 still a thing?
I thought it was dropped in support alongside with the nintendo switch version.
Last Gen versions were abandoned. Then they rebooted on current gen with Crimewave edition. From there it's been nothing but empty promises and occasionally dumping all the holiday gimmick levels.
Last I checked we got some sort of coin exchange thing and an endless mode.
Edit: They had an update recently, but it was to remove Scarface from the game. Huh.
-
Aura button. Only shows feedback elements if you stop and stand still like in The Last of Us.
-
Have all adepts.
Survivor is incredibly forgiving and you can be awful all match and still get it.
Killer side is horribly lopsided and the emblem system is an inconsistent pos. Easiest way to earn it is to basement everyone with hook trades, so be a scumbag if you really want it. Oh wait, someone dc'd. You can go ######### yourself now.
Also it used to reward you after a 4k until the Plague update, so that earned them thing is horseshit.
Edit: So yeah, actually using the skills is a wonderful idea.
-
It gives Dead Hard a reason to not get changed.

If you think the DBD is dying posts are bad here, you should see what it's like with Payday 2 and how calling the game dead has literally become it's own meme or joke within the community.
Not a joke in console-land. Still waiting for the Hideout update.
-
I want an in-game Gamestop shirt too so I can be a complete tool.
-
If you want to farm, you need to do it AS the killer.
Survivor side just roll with the punches. They want to farm? Cool. Don't, then just play normally.

That's a thin line to walk on. A lot of people watch or play horror because they want to be scared, being scared is fun - not everyone wants to face the cesspool that humanity can be at the same time. But, in general, yeah - DbD has some dark themes already within. Freddy is just a different kind of dark compared to the usual for the game. PH, as I've said in this thread before, is implied to do something similar.
What line? We have a killer THAT SHOOTS UP HEROINE AS HIS POWER.
Here's something to chew on: All murder is a form of #########. It's invasive, unwanted physical violence. Hag jams her whole fist in.

DBD is not Outlast or anything like outlast, Outlast is MEANT to make you uncomfortable, while DBD doesn't have anything except this that makes you uncomfortable
Huntress starved little girls to death. Clown kills birds and collects fingers. Philips backstory is African genocide. Spirit was killed by domestic abuse.
Freddy simply existing in the game with these implications IS an example as well.

Someone clearly doesn't know that seeing certain things can make someone uncomfortable
Horror is supposed to take you out of your comfort zone. Stalkers aren't rainbows and kittens.
-
Lightborn for full immunity or Franklins if you like the satisfying feeling of slapping it outta their hands.
If you want something with more mileage, then Brutal Strength will reduce how long you're stuck in certain animations. Won't help when picking someone up though.
Overwhelming Prescence could run out their items faster as well.

More like the matchmaking ratings for swfs is the problem then. It should rate groups with swfs higher than if if those same players were solo.
Also, still a fluke going against a swf with two rank 1s and purples as a brown 13.
Not a fluke if it happens 100% of the time. Every time I go swf, i can expect an easy game.
-
@dugman said:
Yeah that match looks like a fluke for sure. Better luck next time.
It's SWF. Their lowest ranked friend gets paired with their level and everyone else is along for the ride.
Swf. Is. The. Problem.
-
Worthless. I think Dwight Crow has single handedly made me hate this game.
-
I once mindgamed people by standing still and not doing anything. The lifeguard was not as impressed.
-
I wanted to like that game but an omnipotent being that has friends on the survivor team makes for a terrible experience.
It's like playing Among Us and you're the odd man out in the friends group. You don't get to play.
-
Theyre both perks that work better when paired. Furtive works just fine with Nemesis. And Second Wind with any healing build.
Though Furtive still has the burning question of why do I want a smaller TR when it's only active inside a chase when being IN a chase is already buggy. I've "lost" people while they're still in my line of sight.
-
@GreyBigfoot said:
Death Note would be really impractical, but damn I'd want to see how they do that.
Killer walks amongst survivors collecting information. Once they have 3 pieces of evidence they write their name in the book and they're sacrificed.
Though it would very much be a different game.
-
Anything that removes immersion or any sense of situational awareness.
Spine Chill i have a hateboner for. Premonition at least invites the fear of an approaching danger. Spine Chill removes all doubt then rewards you for it. And you still haven't seen the killer.
Unpopular opinion but all aura perks. All of them.
They're bright and gaudy and out of place in the dark brooding atmosphere it attempts to create. I'd say they're placeholders that never saw any development seeing as how the auras themselves have no other details. Just a colored outline.
Is also extremely distracting when trying to focus on details like shuffled birds or other types of movement.

What PC players do you expect will wait 10 minutes for console players to type a message?
That just means you're more likely to get a short "gg" than a 20 page missive on why you're a tunneling ni-ncompoop.
Although I admit, the messages do come up rather fast when they do message you. Maybe it was saved in a draft then simply edited for efficiency.
-
I sat in front of my Windows XP toaster and yelled "My god it all makes sense now". Thank you PC elite for teaching me that flashlight is supposed to blind them.
-
Blowout games.
Win or lose its still a short unsatisfying game.
-
Aim up then SPIN2WIN
-
If they do anything, it'd be changing what Deep Wounds does, but even then I doubt that. FF is an easy first hit and automatic tracking of other survivor movements. It's probably the most flexible ability to build around.
-
Rank doesn't matter. Only if they're swf.
-
They bleed, make noise, and you see a giant red marker showing you all their friends.
Do you want it to cook you pancakes too?
-
Better question is how many console players have Dwightcrow. I'd participate but y'know, it's hopeless.
-
Exactly how I celebrate every other holiday.
Alone.
-
I misread the title. Thought it said "How do I win all matches as killer" and was expecting some poor soul to be crucified.
-
This part of the forum is a complaint zone so really no other community feel good aspect to fall back on other than the circlejerk thread. Next we'll have 5000 page "post a picture of yourself" threads and still no ancillary threads to the complaint threads.
I guess community fueled events would be a start like Play a Specific Killer Day or something.

I never has problems against billy and new billy is just a sad joke to me.
Oh, well i guess I pale in comparison to your golden luminescence. Tell me great one how many other killers you have slain with your sick juking skills. I bet you go solo and 4e every game too with one hand on your keyboard and the other free hand groping titties while you laugh to yourself about the struggling plebs who aren't as financially secure as yourself. Then you light up a few $100 bills just as you notice you were subconsciously running a Billy around in-game the whole time. His tears powering your resolve. Chainsaw? More liek chainlame. He finally manages a hit but it curves off your perfect Adonis like visage. Try again, chainlame!

People got salty and took their ball home.
I guess instantly downing everyone at the beginning of a match was like hard or something and took loads of skill.
And they ruined that. Shame BHVR, shame!
Shame!
