I don't see how never leveling it was broken. I'm sure that their are plenty of people who would rathe level it as the constant noise notifications would be annoying.
I will say that the "benefits" of leveling it before weren't great, but I don't think that adding a range cap on the perk will be a good change for it.
Consistency? A perk is supposed to get stronger the more you level it up. Anyone who accidentally bought it's upgrades are now ######### outta luck? That's bad design keeping it in the game.
And I see the range nerf more as a focus tool. I've said this before that a notification across the map only leads to wasting your time to see them pop a gen in your face.
Constant notifications are distracting as well. I don't see much of a downside to only hearing one explosion when multiple sources could potentially spam the noise. And you still get the visual notification.

Wow, everyone apparently loves how cutting edge a massively empty game like Mirrors Edge has to offer.
Next time someone compares this game to Sonic the Hedgehog I'll listen with an open mind.

Remember: BHVR apparently doesn't think that this level of performance is a problem that they aren't dedicating time to fixing it. shrug
It's pathetic that console users (and hell, even some PC users) can go from one patch with the game to being "okay" (not optimal) to not even being able to maintain 30 fps in a single patch, because the game is that spaghetti-coded apparently.
I'd just like to remind people Mirror's Edge, a game made over 10~11 years ago back when it looked like EA was starting to make an actual comeback (which sadly did not happen), still looks better than this game, and still runs at a VERY stable 60 fps on previous gen console hardware (PS3, Xbox 360) on an older version of the Unreal Engine.
Mirrors Edge has zero randomized elements and was a linear line from A to B. It also barely had any textures. Just white and red walls. And no direct online features. It was very low on processes.
And EA is a predatory publisher. You can be guaranteed that the original dev team was cannibalized and their bones made into a necklace.

I am fully expecting that, plus lootboxes, to come to DbD eventually. Its all a matter of time. BHVR's looking at EA and Activision-Blizzard and scribbling down notes on how to further make Macrotransactions worse.
No, then we'd have $30 map packs and $60 season passes.
But this would be after shoehorning those same microtransactions into the game, then deeming it a failure when it doesn't break their own self imposed sales projections. Then they would shutter down their own studio after making a FPShootan game with a cops ands robbers aesthetic in the middle of a race war.
Still mad about Visceral.

His main counter is hugging loops and hitting objects with his chainsaw, but even then a small clip and you're instantly down.
I always thought his chainsaw shoulda counted as a regular hit but with multiple chances to hit more than once.

It was. BHVR is continuing doing what they do best, making the game worse for everyone via macrotransaction bullshit.
You say that but it can get a lot worse.
Booster packs, inventory space, and randomized pulls for important items.
Oh and crafting, with an RNG based enhancement system.

I remember the old system.
Was playing Wraith and two people dc'd after I ran them ragged. Trophy popped right up.
Now you need a perfect game and hope that the survivors bless you with their prescence during the entire trial and the council decrees that you played fairly and never tunneled and let everyone out the exit gates.
If I were to call anything blatantly survivor sided which this forum throws around a lot, it's the challenges ands cheevos.

Poor Oni got left put of the blighted lineup. Maybe he'll be in the free track like Nurse was.

I feel like I'm not going to buy them again because I already have them. 🙃

There are literally millions of people with FPS experience. You aim then shoot. He's the simplest killer in the roster.
-
Spinoff game would be cool, but sequels are often money grabs and I'd rather see this game continuously get updated rather than be abandoned.
-
It was efficiency plain and simple. Max out your vial, die, start new match.
Then you have matches where you don't get a single one done because killer found you first and all your teammates sucked them dry.
It was awful and stressful either way.
I couldn't finish it anyways because I was hospitalized. Was glad they let you keep tokens for an extra few weeks so I could at least get a few things when I was released.
-
It's because killer has nothing in their base deck that makes up for losing.
It's assumed they'll get more zoning potential as gens get done and the area shrinks, but a survivor not doing anything useful still has 3 other survivors making up for their incompetence.
Killer has no base advantages aside from scratch marks and noticing the occasional disturbed crow.

I don't see the issue with the range nerf. It only benefits high mobility killers and for everyone else it's a waste of time.
I'm going to walk all the way across the level just to see the gen pop in my face anyways? And it will pop in your face because two people are working on it.

Was discordance really nerfed. I personally never ran it, but I never saw anything particularly wrong with it, especially with other perks that exist and are far stronger.
It was one of those perks that if you were doing well, you kept doing well. And if you weren't, didn't matter.
Or it works for finding survivors early in the game then never again because they wised up.
Never leveling it up was broken and no one should be surprised they eventually did something to it.

I think if you look at the perk "built to last" you'll see that the devs are headed in the opposite direction, and that is probably a good thing.
based on the XP reward cap of 600 per match and a gain of 1xp per second the idea is that a match should last no longer than 10 minutes, and in my experience they rarely last longer than that. degrading perks and killer add ons will inevitably prolong each match, and that would generate either much higher queue times or a significant increase in cost for Behavior in terms of game server instances.
if anything I would say that each side should get a buff every 5 minutes a match goes on just to hurry things along (killer movement speed, gen repair speed in the first 5 minute, expose survivors and halve gen repair time at the 10 minute mark, at 13 minutes start the EGC) as long as those buffs are equal for both sides
...
Built to Last activates once per trial.

@ImBrakingBike said:
I'm not sure the examples you are giving are actually trying to find a more balanced game experience. From what you say I get that Self-Care should work just one time, so that's a one-use only perk slot for survivors, yet Sloppy Butcher you give 10 hits per match of use, shouldn't it be more balanced if it was just 4 hits? One per survivor? Same with Bond, it's a perk slot lost after the first minute of the match, but then again Enduring would work thoughout the whole trial with just a 5% off every stun, like how many times would the Killer need to be stunned for it to actually mean a drastic change (like the ones you mentioned before)?
I'm not saying this is a bad idea though. Maybe a more detailed list could be helpful here, but from those few examples I think it looks more like nerfing Survivors' perks than actually leveling both sides.
Those were just examples with ballpark estimates. It was meant to enable thinking on the subject of how removing infinity would change the game, and what applications it could have.
Sloppy Butcher I gave it extra charges in that scenario because even though the survivors would only be able to Self Care once, they wouldn't lose the ability to heal while their other teammates are still in the game. And that proposed idea would be to limit effective times.
It could also potentially have conditional elements like "Only one afflicted survivors at a time" meaning while it has potential unlimited use, it's still limited in scope, making it balanced.
It's my belief that a sure thing has no place in a horror game. Characters get tired. Wounds get deeper.
It was mostly inspired by elements already present in the game. Waking from Freddy's dreamworld takes longer and longer to do the more you do it. It's a brilliant mechanic that enables both active teamwork, and choosing when to use your diminishing resources.
Same with any other perk that is one use or has limited charges. Unbreakable and Decisive Strike are both the most abused perks in the game, but are at their core each one use. It's not a huge stretch.
-
@Heartbound said:
Some killers are dependent on their add ons. You're pretty much deleting half the killer cast if the game last too long, while survivors can always repair gens.
Also self care was nerfed to keep survivors off gens longer. If they're not healing guess what they're gonna do~ ...not find teammates lol.
I get the idea, but a lot of unique playstyles are based off add ons and perks. We'd all get a vanilla experience five minutes into the match and that's cool sometimes...but now you're dooming everyone to eat vanilla with sprinkles for the rest of their life.
Also after they die. So vanilla forever.
Then those killers get buffed, a request they already get on the daily.
Self Care would have it's number readjusted to be medkit speeds. That's how balancing works.
The point is defining and drawing a clear line in the sand with which the game is built upon. Diminishing resources drawing the game to a close. Gens are a resource. Items are a resource. And perks are a resource.
Tapering off infinity in a game that eventually ends is logical.
And if those aren't enough, a new resource can be freely introduced. Life isn't static, it needs to evolve.
-
It's a bizarre phenomenon. I've played with people who said "This killer is so baaaaad!" when we were behind by 4 gens and 5 hooks.
It's a defense mechanism? And of course it all comes crashing down when they get outplayed.
-
Best policy is monkey see, monkey do. Observe what the other side does and emulate them.

FYI, Oni does not have to stop to gain blood orbs. You can pick them up mid chase, suffering similar movement penalties like Myers but much shorter. Neither is he succeptible to regular looping, his power allows for nigh guaranteed hits in all but a few tiles if you´re skilled. Maybe try it out some time and see for yourself.
Doh Ho. Try it out some time? That has some underlying I M P L I C A T I O N S that I haven't ever played him.
I was one of the first people praising Oni for being a unique variation of "killer go fast and down people" and not just a worse Billy.
And he is susceptible. The dash only has 90° turning radius. And regular Demon Strike still has to charge before attacking. He can easily catch people between loops but it's the same ol game of peekaboo it's always been at the loop.
Oni also loses charges for using his power. Down a survivor and you lose 7 seconds.

Let's say you bring j myers memorial and hair bow, thats a lot of stalk that you'll need to tier up. Coupled with the fact good survivors know how to hide their hitbox so you can't stalk them, thats a easy 2 gens done before you hit tier 3 once. Then we have the m1 killer mobility and tack on another gen. His snowball is the only reason why he is c tier, without tier 3 i would put him below clown, because his low terror radius is countered by spine chill. Tier 3 countered by looping or not letting them stalk, tier 2 is a normal m1 killer so easy gens, etc etc. And where did i say we aren't using add ons? The mori requires an add on to use. But yeah keep speaking like you are above me. That totally helps your case. Im not arguing he is the worst killer in the game but compared to the rest he is weak as #########. Imma use otz tier list as an example since i agree with most of it. He has myers at c tier, while other snowball killers are B and up. The only category he is near the top is stealth, and everyone knows stealth killers are #########.
Hide their hitbox? You mean regular hiding? You can counter that by going around. Oh no! You're feeding the Myers! Even a sliver of elbow can feed you. It's ridiculous how people underplay how easy it is to stalk.
Otz is mentioned a lot. I find the amount of people idolizing him to be annoying as they don't have any good arguments of their own and need to rely on a video to go SEE? SEE? I don't give a flying ######### about Otz or any other streamer standing on their soapbox.

He’s weak comparatively. Let’s look at Myers vs Oni:
Oni gets his power through normal gameplay, can get it an infinite number of times, and his power gives him not just one shot downs but also very good mobility.
Myers gets his power by literally slowing down and letting survivors loop him more easily, can only get it a finite number of times (and each survivor only has so much stalk available), and his power makes him one shot people and... go through windows a fraction of a second faster.
When people say “outdated” they mean that the whole meta of the game has changed and Myers has been surpassed by newer killers. Myers has a slow start and needs to slug, both of which are easily punished in the current survivor meta. It’s not that he’s become worse, it’s that the game has changed in a way that works against him.
Stop comparing him to Oni. Oni only thrives because no one heals. Their powers are functionally different.
Oni has to wind up his attack, Myers can just basic. Oni still has to stop to pick up blood orbs. And even with the speed advantage he is still susceptible to normal looping. And what use is infinite uses when a match only lasts 10 minutes on average with all kinds of variables in between?
The meta changed to what? It's been the same 4 or 5 perks being endlessly abused for the last 3 years. Again they didn't add anything, just changed existing mechanics. Myers suffers from issues that other killers in the same class suffer from so the issue isn't him, it's other parts of the game. When they change those, he gets his buff.

It's called power creep.
He's outdated, because a killer called the Oni came out, who outclasses Myers in almost ever way.
Oni can...
- Get his power fasted than Myers.
- Can counter loops with his power.
- Can snowball better than Myers.
- Has better map pressure than Myers.
- Has a stronger early game than Myers.
Now, the only thing Myers has that oni doesn't is stealth (countered by spine chill, which is a popular perk.) and duration.
Oni isn't even the same class. He's more comparable to Billy. Why don't we also ask why Pig can't just ambush dash from gen to gen? Or why Ghostface isn't setting down traps?
You seriously want every killer to be homogenized like survivors are because you can't adjust your playstyle? Zoning is a thing. You work with a smaller area and protect points that are inside it.
And Spine Chill can EASILY be changed to not affect stealth killers but no one seems to ######### care so I guess its not a problem.

One hit down that lasts 60 seconds at base. And mori that requires a lot of stalk to even use. He is weak because there are killers who do his job way better and are balanced. He is weaker than balanced therefore weak.
Oh please. We're doing this act where you don't bring any add-ons or perks? Maybe your hands are crippled too and the plug fell out of your monitor.
He can trigger the 60 seconds at any time he wishes. Typically right before downing someone. So that's 60 seconds and 3 survivors left to stab. Even more time and EW charges if they set off Haunted Grounds.
Pairs perfectly with Infectious Fright leading to multiple downs.
Any anti-loop build benefits tremendously from EW3. You can have the map pallet free with one EW3 activation with 2-3 more left.
Obsession builds are pretty much his thing. Judith's Journal can be really effective on a Nemesis build.
-
Undying and Ruin has people's panties in a twist.
-
Can down people in one hit or mori them.
Weak.
I don't understand you people.
How is he outdated either? Was there some massive change to the game? Do pallets reset themselves? Are survivors faster? Does he not do as well in the DBD-kart game mode? This is idiotic.
-
Which you can manipulate through other perks. I pair it with We'll Make It or Botanist for speedy healing no matter what. And Spine Chill can make the skillchecks appear faster.
-
Your real goal is self actualization and reaching a Zen like state of calm. This is achieved through constant suffering.
-
Change Deep Wounds to a status effect buffer. If you don't cleanse DW your status effects don't diminish/extend the timer. Then just load Legion up with status effect add-ons.
It's current effect becomes a new status called Critical Wounds and you automatically go down if it's not addressed or something like that.
-
Boil Over and Flip-Flop come to mind. Both mediocre perks.
Why does everyone want to buff Autodidact? That perk gives monstrous healing when revved up.
-
Leaving the game is already a forfeit option. The devs just need to treat it as such since it's such a decider of how a game will play out.
-
I've been playing Wraith quite a bit and his speed boost doesn't work sometimes. Dunno if it's certain add-ons or what, but I uncloak and no speed boost. Which also means no quick hits between eating pallets.
You also bloodlust with no noticable speed boost. He's absolutely pathetic at loops with no specialized perks for it.
And directional sound for the bell is a huge disadvantage paired with Spine Chill always giving you away. He also glows bright orange and has dinosaur feet if you didn't already see or hear him.
Devs expect you to stand still then uncloak when they bump into you. There's almost no active chase mechanics you can take advantage of without heavily investing in add-ons that actually surprise them.
Maybe my opinion will change once he's P3, but he's been hell to play as going up the ladder.

Creating a lag spike by screwing with the bandwidth of your system is a known cheat method. I find it hard to believe you don't know that already. And if you think advocating for good sportsmanship is pompous, then I'm pompous. I will continue to promote and post those rules whenever appropriate to the subject being discussed. Three is not unreasonable. It is the easiest of the three. It is basic good manners. It is the good sportsmanship we were taught in pre-school, Kindergarten, and all the way up. I'm not telling anyone to do anything. In fact, nobody should have to voice those three rules at all. They are basic commonsense and courtesy. The fact that you seem offended by them or somehow want to dissect them makes your motives suspect. :)
I know about lagswitching which shouldn't work on server based games since everyone is the client, and ddos which spams a line with junk data but that would crash the game. Everything else would be wonky netcode. Which can't be pinned on a single player. And if they are hacking, you have a lot more issues than just weird internet.
Yes pompous. Even capping it with a smiley face at the end which is never sincere. :)
And what motives would that be? I already have everything. For what purpose would I need to freeze people in place or make them miserable? I don't stream. So no audience to impress. I rarely bring mori's to killer games. I almost never bring items in as survivor. And if I wanted validation I'd always be agreeable and never belligerent. Oh Billy got nerfed? Ugh stupid devs don't know how to program their own game! :)
But if you want to continue playing hall monitor that's fine. The kids are going to keep smoking in the bathroom regardless.

I can't answer for the person you addressed but I do hate DCers. :) We should all be playing by the following three, simple rules:
- Don't cheat, either by hacks or lag spikes.
- Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
- Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
Do I hate people who can't exercise the very minimum of good sportsmanship? Yes.
I see you copypaste these rules everywhere but it feels pompous as hell in a few parts.
Don't cheat with lag spikes? What do people think lag spikes are? It's not a physical object you jam into the ethernet port.
What if it's the game ######### up? Am I to be victim blamed for being killer and the servers being #########? Random dc's could be attributed to the spaghetti code too. I'm walking along and suddenly my character drops dead, killer nowhere near me. But I guess its my fault right?
Two is fine.
Three is unreasonable. You won't get people to follow decor and proper mannerisms just by telling them to. If I pull victory from the jaws of defeat all while being mocked the entire match, I'm letting them have it if they engage me.
Respect is more important. It may be nitpicking but respect is more understandable virtue as it relates to how you view and treat others and would like wise see in return. I see a gg, I gg. Someone has a problem with what I do, I explain my actions and my reasoning for doing so. Being humble and gracious is an effect of being respectful.
Additionally on topic, why is there a forfeit button if you just get punished anyways? They say if it's in the game, you can use it, but the quit button is apparently taboo.
-

No, I mean when they split up when you come up to the group...
you shouldnt need godly addons to do basic challenges...
The ability isn't as underpowered as people say. It's getting follow up attacks to down them is where they have issues.
It's a green and yellow add-on, and it mainly acts as insurance if they split up. Others will try hiding behind a rock or something stupid from my experience.

Against semi competent survivors, the FF one isn't going to happen, tbh. And this was the issue. There are maps that are gigantic and thus it is very difficult for legion to hit every survivor once with FF in the first place.
Semi competent? You mean when they try their window tech and I just stand there or try to do a stupid little spin only to get stabbed anyways? Paired with Bamboozle it halts any vaulting loops too.
And not every map is massive. The majority of maps are perfectly doable with every duration add-on stacked. Most of the time they all spawn together too, so the match start is grounds for a team stabbing.
