Standing up for the developers of a game you like = not accepting the issues the game has even though you actually do and you’re just a bootlicker.
You know what’s funny? It’s actually the community that’s starting to make me not like DBD, both inside the game and on the forums/reddit.
Many players, both Survivors and Killers are incredibly entitled and think they deserve the world from the devs. Now I can see the frustration with people being mad at changes they make or lack thereof, but damn, talk down the the devs like they’re disobedient dogs, that’s just pathetic. If you don’t like what they’re doing so much, voice that you’re quitting the game and actually follow through and do it. Most don’t however and just make empty threats, acting big and trying to start some sort of “movement” or “protest”.
In the end, it won’t be the game that makes me leave, it’ll be the community. If I end up coming across another game that I genuinely enjoy just as much, if not more, I’ll quickly switch to that and play DBD on the rarer occasion. I didn’t think I’d find a community more toxic than Overwatch’s but damn the recent Ruin change and the communities reaction to it have proven me very wrong.
As much as people don't like these fake quitting threads, people sure don't like white knights for a company that gets paid(pretty well thanks to the cosmetics, dlcs and battle pass crap they are putting in) for a game the customers expect updates and changes for a live service game from the company who's job it is to stay on top of that and when it takes too long or nothing gets said about certain issues or whatever gets changed over other things, people will complain, that's how it is for any pvp kind of game. I DID NOT say if it was wrong or right that people do that though, it is what it is.

Another post crapping on the developers even though 1. Posts are made about the exact same thing almost every hour and 2. The developers are no doubt already well aware of the storm that is currently going on. Pointless post.
Dude atleast get paid to do PR for the devs lol, these threads really are a joke.
-
Fun is a very subjective term, everyone has a different definition of it in context of what it is they are doing, good for the people that find legion fun.
-
Idk why they don't just give MoM the Ruin treatment and change it into another perk cause the effect can never be as good as it was when it was broken and the work to get it to activate isn't usually worth it.

If you were around just before/after Stranger Things release, you'd remember the dozens of Plague posts that popped up alongside Spirit about her being broken OP unfun nerf now posts.
Anything players are ignorant of or don't want to play against they will complain about, thats how it is with alot of games.

Apologies, I poorly phrased that. I meant to say 'one-hit-down perks/abilities' were worthless on the Plague, as survivors were already injured.
Additionally, if you've ever countered poor old Legion, you would know that injured survivors can loop just as well as healthy survivors, especially against a killer with effectively no killer power with which to shorten a chase. There's a reason that 'just don't heal' is a meta that the best players follow, and either don't heal until endgame or run Adrenawin.
I referred to Corrupt Purge as a one-hit-down, as it would be used against infected/injured survivors to be able to actually shorten a chase, if one of them were foolhardy enough to cleanse. But, it is worthless, as it is normally activated far from survivors at an infected shrine, giving them plenty of time to hide and run down the clock.
Thats a good point too, the fact they made it depend on survivors if she can get it and she has to go a certain part of a map, depending on what map you may have to walk across the map to where no gens or survivors are to get it and waste time really shows how poorly implemented and thought out the means of getting corrupt purge is.
-
I think it's because she has to work for her one shot more than myers or ghostface because she lacks the stealth they have and Oni while he can feel just as bad as plague does at the start does get the added movement bonus from his one shot ability as long as he can atleast hit 2 survivors. Her buff that she can get can be ignored because it's up to survivors if she gets to use her corrupt purge so it's not reliable unless she has the apple addons and even then the timer can be waited out and thats all you get out of that apple.
-
@cipherbay_ said:
So then what's the point of shocking them? You are just wasting time doing it
shocking to tier 2 still gives them the various skill check effects like before and with addons there is the reverse skill check, and shock therapy still makes survivors unable to do any actions for a set amount of time. Static blast is just a aoe tier up if you have anyone in your terror radius so it's only good for finding people and stopping them from doing a gen that you are near by.

@Unicorn said:
Old news but I remember when almost everyone on Forums were screaming the Sky is Falling when Spirit was announced, yet she turned out to be one of the strongest Killers in the game.
Don't fall for the hype ya'll.
Well lets be honest here in ptb she was pretty trash, after she got multiple buffs post ptb did she become what she was and then nerfed a couple times after as long as survivors don't know when she is phasing in her terror radius and the sounds aren't bugged to #########, she'll be fine.
I know what you mean though, but it's understandable why people react the way they do alot of killer nerfs have been happening, spirit and nurse probably got some questionable nerfs, Oni got his flick taken away until now where they are giving it back and poor pig keeps getting a bat to her knees after EGC came out while Legion is already dead.
-
Well with his static blast putting you into the next tier if you are in his terror radius I don't think thats much of a big deal, I'm just glad stance switching is gone but if the delay between shock therapy and being able to hit them is longer than switching stances, he's gonna be trash. Shock therapy wasn't reliable at stopping people from vaulting already lol.

Oh boy, here we go, x killer is unfun nerf train coming through. CHOO CHOO

Well he only depipped because we did what we were SUPPOSED to do. But I doubt he's ever had that happen. Chances are most games reward him with a lot of BP, pips, and a 4k.
For him he might realize his tactic is not as viable as he thought. For actual rank 20's though, they have to struggle through multiple games like this before they realize what they should and shouldn't do. If that threshold is too high, they just stop playing altogether, which is the problem.
The game shouldn't encourage killers to do this things because it pushes new players away. Then as this killer ranks up he faces tougher and tougher players, eventually maybe coming to a similar conclusion from a killer perspective.
Either way we are losing players.
Again I'm not saying he SHOULD NOT be doing this. He can if he wants. I'm saying he needs to be discouraged from doing it sooner rather than later, as sooner means less survivors quitting AND helping the killer improve themselves for when they face more competent opponents. Otherwise he hits a brick wall of frustration when it just stops working one day and now he is at a point where he has to struggle to learn the game to catch up.
Alternatively, maybe encourage him to leave his comfort zone in the sooner phase so he doesn't feel overwhelmed later and gets a more rewarding experience while providing a better experience for his opponents.
Maybe the game needs to do a better job of explaining things but when you look at early early dbd it was much the same killers camped and survivors would hide and not do objectives. Makes me wonder how we stuck around in the first place. It's probably because it had no meta until survivors found out about looping and then word of mouth reached everyone but now it's more sectioned off between old players and new players. New survivors probably think they have to interact with the killer when really the killer is just there to stop them from doing the objective that is not related in anyway to the killer.

I think it's slightly underwhelming as well but I feel this change over complicates it a bit.
Just simply remove the cooldown on it and now it's decent.
They really like to put unnecessary cooldowns on perks that aren't strong enough to warrant them.
Cooldowns are there favorite thing now they put them on everything now, ever since spirit every killer has to have some sort of cooldown or timer.
-
Surge is such a liar perk, 8% regression and the gen explodes. Normally if a gen explodes thats a base 5% regression if surge was 8% on top of that it'd be good but no just 8%, they might as well say it's 3% on top of 5% from the explosion cause thats all it really is

MM needs a fix, but it's not even that.
This Bubba was a rank 16. He ended up depipping to 17 because he got 3 kills, 4 hooks (ie. silver Devout at best), 0 Chaser due to camping, almost 0 Malicious due to not hurting/hooking enough survivors, and no better than silver Gatekeeper because we did the gens pretty quick (all 5 in about 6 minutes? not sure) AND he never bothered to protect them or kick them for more GK. That's only 4 or 5 emblem points when you need 6 to safety pip at this rank.
So this guy, a legit brown rank killer, is being put against legit brown ranks and doing this and getting rewarded for it. Yes, it's the survivors' faults but they don't know what to do and even if they did they lack the tools to do it. I only managed to make a save by baiting a chainsaw. I had not BT and no Deliverance. I knew I was likely dead if I messed up (which I did, it's not easy to do that and both get away). I'm willing to bet that was the FIRST time someone did that to him and it worked. He also had NOED as insurance, and against legit rank 20's they would all be dead even if they rushed gens on the first hook, because a rank 20 rushing a gen is like a rank 1 taking a nap. He would have easily been able to camp 2 to death before getting NOED and getting potentially the last 2 that would have no idea where the totem was unless they got lucky (and even then I doubt they would be brave enough to cleanse it once they saw the notification).
In this case MM works as intended, it's more that the survivors are vastly under-prepared for this situation. Which goes back to my point in my previous comment that the devs need to discourage killers from playing this way and encourage survivors to take more risks (though in this case the risk is just sitting on a gen until it's done and not stopping for any reason).
You said he depipped and camped so he probably didn't get many bloodpoints since he didn't do much and he got 3 kills it seems like he didn't get much out of it than the smug satisfaction of killing 3 people who probably pipped or black pipped at best. It doesn't really sound like that player got rewarded, don't know how he get those 3 kills unless they were trying to save but you said the gens got done in 6 mins so it sounds like someone was playing into his camp which is fine cause new players are gonna know next time not to do that against a camping killer.
-
I blame match making and rank reset. a rank 2 among a group of rank 12-20 shouldn't put them against a rank 1 killer, it should go back to scaling, maybe a bit higher like they'd be matched with purples or greens and change rank reset back to what it was, red ranks are really starting to feel watered down and will make red ranks stats worse than they were.
-
Man people really take this game too seriously, yes gens go too fast but it's the only thing survivors need to do besides just getting out, just like camping, tunneling and slugging aren't inherently toxic either it's just both sides trying to do there jobs. Directing blame on either side isn't the right call, neither of them are in charge of design.
-
I think Huntress is too inconsistent, maps screw her over more than any other killer. Nurse played well can still destroy survivors even if she is annoying to play as.
-
They want there subjective meaning of fun to be why people play. If you have fun wanting to win or wanting the game to be more fair, too bad i guess.
-
You can't post that thread here you'll just get dog piled on by biased people dude. They don't want you to ever get a 4k or you are just entitled in there eyes, even when you should get it cause you did your job. I personally don't care about slugging to get the last survivor, it's just too boring. If the last guy gets hatch I still count it as a 4k cause you can't change how the game is.
-
Can't wait to use a "late game hex perk" cause those are worth running am i right fellas? Hexs always last more than a minute. No? Oh well.
-
I've brought this up multiple times in both this and Feedback, I get no real answers from devs. I just want them to be consistent instead of breaking every time a chapter comes out and then them fixing them to slightly worse than before. I'm sure they are doing it to indirectly nerf spirit but thats just me wearing my tinfoil hat here.
-
Fungoose is a good one that I haven't seen post on here yet.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm in favor of. Average weighed towards the top a bit.
Because let's be real, it's not only the fun factor of the games that gets screwed. How are we supposed to do anything with red rank kill rates if a game with a red rank killer and a single red rank survivor+ 3 yellow rank potatoes counts as a red rank game?
ON POINT! The red rank stats mean nothing with this matchmaking system.
-
@gantes said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/120000/are-there-no-red-rank-killers
That's because of the new matchmaking logic that makes every game a red rank game as long as there's one red rank survivor.
If there's 1 red rank and 3 yellow ranks in the survivor side, the matchmaking looks for a red rank killer. Eventually every single one of them is in a game, so sometimes a game with 4 red rank survs gets a purple, sometimes even green rank killer.
Yeah it's a garbo system but what can we do
Exactly, it needs to go back to the average rank but scaled up a bit so if a swf red ranks can't totally bully the poor green rank that didn't see it coming.

@BlueFang said:
Indeed the game is certainly playable and winnable without Ruin, will there a really long adjustment period for those that use it, yes
Will this nerf cause games to go really fast, yes
It's unavoidable but you see I see this as a good thing. Yes there will be some miserable times but go ahead and look. Now the developers have nothing they can use as an excuse to not improve the gameplay for everyone. There's nothing they can use to shield the flaws in the generator completion times, this is ultimately good for the game
This is how i see things as well but I have my doubts on if they will do anything in the near future.
-
It's not that they are nerfing ruin, it's the reason alot of killers used ruin from what i see.

My favorite is when people dis on a build I pick when they can't see what level my killer is or what perk selection I have.
Currently running spirit for the conniption achievement, and I run NOED (easier to down people with haunting) with Rancor (also makes one easy down) because I only have 4 perks at tier 3. This gets me hate mail.
You're using noed and spirit hatemail is an inevitability. Either one on there own will get you hatemail even though spirit got nerfed already.

1M bloodpoints doesn't even make it to teachable perks and if you have several already unlocked, you won't unlock the ones you want it you won't get them to a high tier.
Other than that I 100% agree with you. On the same note, you shouldn't have to use BPS earned by other characters to level up the one you want to play.
I got lucky and got want i needed to work with but yeah I know what you mean I had to do that with ghostface and constantly grind on another killer.

I stopped playing the game for awhile and came back to being around rank 12. I've gotten up to rank 9 so far and have constantly been put up against red and high purple ranks. I don't know if it's a matchmaking issue or a player base issue though.
It's because of the rank reset changes and how matchmaking works for swf combined it'll get worse over time.

Man I agree, even at rank 9 green rank I've seen 4 rank 2s against me. I'm not afraid to admit it but I straight DC until I'm rank 11 or 12 because like you said I'm trying to have fun or play with a new killer and I don't feel like I should have to try hard, or deal with teabags because some DBD lifer knows exactly where and when to go to be safe.
And no matter what, red ranks always message some toxic ######### after a match, win or lose it even if your wraith invisible in the basement the whole time, they still have to respond with something.
This is why I don't care about DCing, 90% of the time I'm right on the money, all red ranks with 2-3 DS, BT, DH perks between all of them. When they sling toxic crap my way, I just say "thanks, deranking anyway going to return the favor to the yellow and brown ranks and ruin their game" which gets a "that's pretty pathetic man", setting me up for "says the red rank to the green rank who just wants to have fun". Usually they shut up at this point or they just say blame behavior.
Bottom line is ######### red rank survivors.
We really need individual ranks for all killers, I wouldn't have started playing Oni if i didn't save up bloodpoints to get decent perks.
-
@Johnble said:
In my experience, the only killers obsessed with getting a 4k are the players that take the game too seriously and want survivors to only play certain characters or bring in certain items or they play like jerks.
Who's to say the survivors don't want to play like jerks when they use certain items, it's a matter of perspective, if a killer sees a key or some toolboxes. He has to change how he's gonna play to stop those items getting there full value. If it means being called a jerk to stop the game from ending earlier than normal so be it, I say.

Gen speed remedy? What game you think this is a horror game? No sir, that could impede on survivor fun and experience and we can't have that, pretty good job so far though. T_T

He is a red rank survivor maybe stop with the us vs them thing that's how you make yourself look silly.
-
I like how devs say the stats don't matter and don't drive them in regards to balance but when it's convenient they'll pull them up to fit the narrative that the legion change was a "buff", either the stats matter or they don't. I personally don't pay any attention to stats but you people do you.
-
Knowing how these devs do things, they'll try to sell us a perk to incentivize buying the next dlc killer to cover up the band aid they'll rip off after the ruin change.

I think Leatherface should get some love next the poor guy has addons that do basically nothing. Let Bubba enjoy his chili....

Welcome to dbd after every main patch, maybe they'll fix them maybe they won't. The most inconsistent core mechanic they have, so much fun I'm sure but hey they made sure oni was working as intented right? Sounds good to me....

Right? It's weird cause they've done like 2 or 3 hotfixes since the patch and still don't address how bad the sounds are. Everyone would figure a core mechanic in the game would be one of the first things on the list to fix as well as them saying they want to work on "game health". Looks suspicious to me.

As far as I see, killers have been extremely vocal about it. But since the devs never put any effort into "fixing" it, people just gave up. It gets tiresome at some point.
I know, I just am amazed no one is talking about it anymore and if this was the devs plans to ignore everyone talking about sounds and just wait it out, they did it.
I'll never not be annoyed by it though....

This is exactly what I mean and how it feels every time they do something to the sounds in this game, accident or not. I really wish the community were a bit louder with there criticism of what i think is the most important killer core mechanic in the game imo.

Sound quality detoriated steadily since 2016, and continues to do so. The devs put no effort into fixing it, or its intentional. Killers just adapted to it.
Believe me I know sounds are not what they were, I've accepted that but this update is just really bad combined with some maps being darker. I'll hold out till they hopefully patch the sounds AGAIN, if they "fix" them....
