  • Okay, so you could not do anything, and the other Survivors were not finishing the gens and leaving?

He kept me there indefinitely sometimes I wish survivors could kill the killers😒.

Was the rest of the game continuing regardless, or was the game at a standstill?

  • It's not a hostage situation unless he just keeps you trapped there seemingly indefinitely. If he locks you in a corner and hits you, it's fair game because either then you can just run through him or you'll be downed.

An example of a hostage situation would be if he blocked you in the corner as the last Survivor and simply kept you there without closing the Hatch to start the Endgame Collapse.

  • I feel like if you remove the torment when you hook someone, that makes it a decent bit less useful. Either you force yourself to use it during inopportune times so it doesn't go to waste, or you will likely barely get to use it.

  • The spotlight trailer says that the Survivor has to be Tormented in order to be mini-mori'd. If what you're saying is true, then that is almost certainly a bug.

  • I know there were people who suggested that the 4 was hinting Pyramid Head.

  • I wouldn't discount Forced Penance just yet, with the doubling of duration.

  • I don't know which one is the new one, but they both sound good to me.

    That ######### map as jumpscares?

What i heard is im always suiciding on that loud, obvious, confusing, indoor map 1000% of the time. It's bad enough with random crying bitches, random screaming, and the constantly scrapping, and cage rattling, and water dripping but now you want to add jumpscares...

    Yeah no I'm out.

One of the school lockers on the map (not the ones that appear on every map that you can hide in) has a corpse inside that falls out if you approach it.

  • That seems like something that should be fixed.

  • I'm guessing it's a bug, since it still says that it caps at a million.

Indeed. The buffs were all nice.

Trail of Torment still sucks tho

My one hope for Trail of Torment is that as Pig, I can trigger it, take advantage of full speed stealth, and then crouch when the timer is about to expire to psyche out Survivors who aren't sure if I'm near them or not.

  • Hm, 60 seconds of Broken is actually a pretty long time, all things considered. It might actually give you the time to knock down the Survivor that was defended by the now-Broken Survivor, hook them, and then hunt for the still-Injured Survivor before they can heal.

The devs said it themselves and I sort of agreed. At the end game, when people are taking protection hits to try and stop you hooking someone, they can't just go and immediately heal and go for the save fast without being at risk. Being injured for longer in general leaves people exposed for longer, especially survivors who aren't great in the chase or the Killer has a ranged ability or can land hits easily with enough skill. It certainly is far from the best perk, but it has it's uses. Will I use it often? probably not, but i might mess around with it and see how it performs in a general build.

Can't someone else just go in and do the save instead? Also, being left exposed for longer means nothing if you are in a chase? If you chase the Broken person, it means almost nothing (unless they are trying to use an insta-heal, which is very situational). If you chase the person they were trying to protect, then the Broken didn't really do a whole lot.

    IMO, it seems fairly useless.

  • Unlikely unless they get the licensing rights from Geoff Keighley.

Forced Penance is very niche but it can have its uses in the situations where it works.

Deathbound is arguably the best out of his perks.

Trail of torment’s main downside if the yellow generator aura, but apart from that, crossing a portion of the map totally undetectable for 15 seconds is better than people give it credit for. I used it multiple time’s during the PTB and I got a lot of sneaky hits from it.

I’m sorry not every perk can be the next BBQ or Hex: Ruin pre nerf but some perks they introduce actually fit well into the way people want to play or just add more variety to builds and play style choices. Mindbreaker is still almost completely trash however, number tweaks would be all it needs.

What are the niche uses in situations where FP works?

Yes, he was amazing back then, but now he's just outdated. The other outdated killers got huge buffs. i.e, Hag, Wraith and Trapper (I consider Trapper pretty decent atm).

Myers could use similar buffs. I'd personally remove his stain in EW2 to give him some utility in that, considering that he spends a large chunk of the whole game in it anyway.

One change I've heard suggested that I really like: Myers manually activates his Evil Within Level-Ups similar to Oni manually activating Maximum Ogredrive. That way, you don't have to go through the trouble of 99'ing Myers and risk those weird hiccups where you reach EW3 but then it randomly rolls back to EW2 99%.

  • Being scared into respecting DS, eh? That sounds like a challenge. ;)

  • I feel like your ideas for Workshop Grease and Amanda's letter are better suited as just QoL changes for Pig than add-ons. I know the idea here is that you're only changing add-ons, but still.

Utility Blades - I don't really like add-ons that give Mangled because Sloppy Butcher is a thing. That being said, if you were to go this route, I would go with just making someone have Mangled until fully healed. I feel like just giving Mangled for X seconds makes it a waste unless X is so long that is may as well be infinite.

Shattered Syringe - Why is this an uncommon add-on? Even as far as "obligatory hard mode add-ons," the penalty on this can potentially be really bad.

Last Will - Why is this a rare add-on? There is nothing wrong with having this at uncommon.

Amanda's Secret - I don't think the crouched speed increase is necessary. If anything, I'd make it a separate add-on at most.

Rules Set No. 2 - I guess this is okay?

Jigsaw's Annotated Plan - This seems backbreaking with Tampered Timer, even with the decrease in time needed to search a box.

  • I wouldn't worry. Even if they had video evidence, devs would be smart enough to know that you didn't do anything wrong.

No worries mate, this is all opinions! I personally love corrupt, I think it is great because you can pressure less gens at the start of the game.

Yeah, I'm aware. :) This wasn't a dig at you or anyone on here. It's just a personal gripe I have with the way some people use that particular word.

  • I don't really like using the term "overrated" since it tends to be used as though it's objective fact rather than just another opinion.

Anyways, I don't like Corrupt Intervention nearly as much as some other people. I think it's useful on certain killers that need time to set up, but that's about it.

  • I don't play any different than I normally would.

I just realised, that if you bring Amanda's Letter, an addon that weakens your traps and focuses on ambushes, could actually increase your chances of getting a head pop.

Normally, there are four boxes. The Amanda's Letter addon halves this, meaning it's only 2 boxes.

There is a 50/50 chance that if you camp the box with Amanda's Letter, the Survivor is guaranteed to die.

    Oh no...

Yeah, this has already been known. It's an unnecessary downside for the add-on that also has the problem of making it easier to screw a Survivor over if the Pig decides to sit in front of a box (two Survivors if you use Last Will).

I'm all in favor of just removing the downside for Amanda's Letter.

Nothing really, and there will always be people who do this. This is just a huge waste of time to secure just one kill. Also a survivor could bait a killer into believing that the box they need is not the one they ran to. You could also make it that the RBT's timer is paused while within 8 meters of the killer.

Edit: in addition, to prevent the pig from camping one box after all survivors have hats a survivor may adjust the RBT on another survivor. This would scramble the remaining box(es) that they have to search.

With the way the current boxes are, if the Pig wants to screw someone over by camping a box, they have a 1/4 shot of guessing the correct box (assuming they aren't using any add-ons that change the number of boxes).

With the way your idea is implemented, if searching multiple boxes is mandatory, you are only making it easier for the Pig to protect a box that a Survivor will have to search. If you make it so they have to search 3 boxes, the Pig has a 75% chance of screwing over the Survivor. If you make it so they have to search 2 boxes, the Pig has a 50% chance (in addition, Pigs who aren't actively attempting such a cheesy tactic are being punished because a Survivor who knows they only have to search two boxes has SO much less pressure placed on them).

Even if you make it so a Survivor can scramble the combination, you're still making it so that Survivor is now wasting time to get a combination of boxes that the Pig isn't defending. If the timer is active while this is going, that Survivor is now stuck choosing a lesser of two evils by having to look for someone who will scramble the order of boxes.

  • @bLoodSLoth97 said:

I have an idea that would change the way her power works. Here goes:

    • The jigsaw boxes are now all numbered with little signs by the puppet.
    • When a RBT becomes active on a survivors head they will hear a series of beeps telling them which boxes they need to search. The sequence is random.
    • The survivors must search the jigsaw boxes in the order of the beeps for them to remove the RBT.

Other details I should mention, the pig does not hear the code. This is to prevent box camping. The beeps in the code are only repeated when the sequence is failed. Failing the sequence does not kill the survivor and only has negative effects based on current addons. The addons that add another jigsaw box could also add another number to the sequence. The code is only given to survivors when their hat is active. This means that taking off the hat without knowing the code may be risky depending on the addons the pig is using.

They can still search boxes when it is not active but the puppet will laugh at them.

You would not only have to remember the code but also which boxes have which number.

I think it would make for a fun memory game.

What stops the Pig from following the Survivor to the first box they need to go to and camping that box?

  • I don't actually like add-ons that emulate already-existing perks. I feel like that just causes add-ons and perks to sorta bleed together.

It's pretty subjective. Saying "my boy David would never be gays he's too manly" how does that not sound like a joke. It's a fictional character and I'm speaking as if he actually existed and had real feelings. I think that's a joke

I agree. That's why I want all characters to be shapeless, transparent blobs with no backstory whatsoever. I mean, why do characters have to have their overall body shape, species, and skin color focused on? They're just avenues for griefing.

I see it as more pandering rather than diversity. Let's be honest if you're looking for "representation" dbd shouldn't be the game to go to. You don't see me begging and complaining that there isn't an Irish survivor so pushing political agendas in games really shouldn't be as common as it is. But that's just my opinion

    Caleb's Irish. :P

  • Here's a question: Is the subject of romantic relationships off-limits as far as exploring the lore of already-established characters?

  • I doubt Escape from Tarkov has Reverse Bear Traps. Therefore, I am not interested.

  • The game was balanced around having 4 perks for each player. I don't think changing that is a good idea.

  • I try whenever I can unless I'm right on the cusp of finishing a gen and don't wanna blow it. Gotta improve somehow, no?

  • @Vale3100 said:

I think with all of Pig’s weaknesses makes up for the fact that getting the traps off survivors is based on luck and I found your luck as a survivor to get traps off is reasonably slim. For that I don’t think Pig doesn’t need to be that buffed except maybe making her crouch walk faster.

the times I’ve played against pig which I’ve noticed isn’t very often, I managed to get the trap off like 4 times out of let’s say 10-15 times I’ve played against her recently. If anything I think they should slightly increase the chance of getting the trap off cus I’ve been dying against the pig from her traps more than actually being third hooked.

basically you just gotta pressure survivors who got traps on their heads by monitoring those trap machines survivors would go to to get the trap off which means survivors have the pressure of the time they have left to get the trap off AND being aware that the killer will most likely know where you are. That’s basically how Pigs have won games.

idk if you’re struggling with the pig but she’s not easy to play against if you know what to do with her

I found your luck as a survivor to get traps off is reasonably slim

It really isn't unless you're playing on a giant map with extra boxes and/or Tampered Timer, from my experience. In the majority of cases, I find that Survivors have more than enough time to get their Trap off as long as they aren't being greedy. In a number of cases, Survivors are undaunted enough that they will just keep working on gens until their timer starts, knowing that the odds of them getting the Trap off is still mostly in their favor.

Oof. From what I can gather, your experiences are not the norm.

basically you just gotta pressure survivors who got traps on their heads by monitoring those trap machines survivors would go to to get the trap off which means survivors have the pressure of the time they have left to get the trap off AND being aware that the killer will most likely know where you are. That’s basically how Pigs have won games.

In practice, that does not work out the way you hope. In the time you spend cheesing the RBT timer to force a kill, the other Survivors (assuming competency) are just powering through the gens no problem. You can maybe get one Kill like that, but you're sacrificing immense gen pressure to do that.

  • I'll throw my take here again: Pig should be allowed to see the remaining time on active Reverse Bear Traps, even if it's through the use of an add-on.

    I never said it was.

It doesn't have to be part of the hud to be removed from a trailer.

Right, but then why does the HUD being removed mean that the big line was removed from the trailer as well? I'm not saying this is for sure a sign that PH was buffed, but this doesn't strike me as a scenario where "If A is true, then B must be true".

  • @BigBubs said:

If you pay attention you will notice that there's also no hud as well.

    Do a 1+1.

I wouldn't call the line thing part of the HUD, as it's something that physically shows up on the map like scratch marks, right?

  • It's possible that they buffed PH by removing it? The scratch marks are still there in the Spotlight, so the fact that the big telegraph line isn't is certainly curious.

Nope. Killer can search for them and find them. How do you know they aren't trying to do gens. Maybe they are too scared.

They are trying to end the game, as soon as the hatch opens. They're looking to escape. That's what both are trying to do. If anything, the killer is holding the game hostage because he isn't looking hard enough.

You just said that both Survivors were hiding because they were banking on the other Survivor doing the gens instead. That's how I know neither one are trying to do gens. You can't hold the Killer accountable for not being good enough.

Anyways, devs/mods have already ruled that the Survivors would be considered holding the game hostage in the scenario you described if it lasts for a long time.

  • @Rydog said:

Coming at this from a bit of a different angle, but from the survivor perspective, I think it's extra-frustrating to play vs. a Pig who traps you and then proceeds to tunnel you anyway. Ticking time-bomb traps are a BIG game slowdown tool, because it forces survivors to drop everything and search for trap keys or die. I wish there was something that actively incentivized the Pig to leave a survivor alone once they've been trapped, because it's way better to just let them run around in a panic while you search for other survivors.

On the flip side, there's the issue of a Survivor not being dissuaded enough by the RBT to stop working on gens. So if we want to have a system in place that further encourages the Pig to leave Trapped Survivors alone, there would also have to be something in place that further pressures Survivors to get the trap off ASAP.
