Is anybody else waiting for the cross progression between PlayStation and Steam? xD
I just feel like either the effort isn't something they want to put in or there's a cost that they don't want to pay.
I'd be willing to actually pay extra for this on top of actually already buying the game twice and some of the DLC. You'd think that buying the parts of the game would be enough for all these companies that cross progression wouldn't be a big deal. But apparently something's in the way and I can't help but cynically think it's money.
-
I have fun playing the game. There are definitely issues and of course they should be reported. I would expect people also to post discussion threads about these things. The thing is, though. They're discussion threads. Discussions aren't always just everyone nodding in unison.
So when people post things where I think it's getting a little egregious that there's a LOT of complaining or the particular thread seems like it's off on the wrong track as far as it's complaint, I will comment in a way that I am sure some thing of as 'shilling' for the game or company.
Sometimes, I come to realize that I was over-enthusiastic in the wrong direction, but that's fine. It's just discussion. You can always tell how ripe (or maybe rotten?), a community is by the quantity of "complaining about complaining" or the quantity of "complaining about those who don't agree with me" posts...
-
Yeah, nvm. I've been misinformed. THanks.

We have two PS4s. Mine is a slim and my wife's is older and not a pro.
I installed SSD on mine some time ago and it's a night and day difference.
She still has a lot of stuttering where I do not. It's not perfect and the framerate on my PC makes the game a lot more enjoyable when I am able to play there, but yeah, it's how the HDD is used that seems to cause a lot of the issue, imho.
So if you've got what, $150 or so? It was worth it to me.

Leaving the second to last survivor slugged for more than 30 seconds should trigger hatch. There, your time wasting problem is solved.
-
You can look up how to upgrade your super-slow 5,400 rpm HDD on PS4 as well. I spent about $160 CDN on an SSD and it's worlds different. I don't have these problems at all. My wife's console still has them. We even encountered an easy test last night. If we're grouped and she's in her bloodweb and I'm switching through characters rapidly, it causes all kinds of lag on her console. When the situation is reversed, no problem for me. I assume it's because of the console having to dip into the HDD to load the visuals for the character? Anyway, works fine with SSD, terrible with HDD. I've even loaded up the SSD with a bunch of other games since installing it.

Unlikely.
I'vs tried everything, and if you'd look at the thread, you'd see people have suggested possible fixes, none of which have worked.
You haven't given any advice. All you've said is "it isn't BHVR it's you, just buy a PC lol"
Honestly, for me upgrading to the SSD did the trick. My wife and I play side by side on the same connection and sometimes I can pretty dramatically see the difference when she gets performance hits- and we have the same ping around 40-50. It feels like it's lack of caching maybe due to memory limitations on the PS4 or something, so it's accessing the SLOW 5,400 RPM HDD at critical moments. The SSD seems to smooth that out quite a bit.
I don't think this puts BHVR off the hook as it certainly feels like an issue that could be fixed by optimizing how their code works, prioritizing memory and disk reads while in play..
Of course, I'm just talking out my ear, here. I am not a programmer.

Sony charges for cross progression to make up for possible income loss due to someone buying cosmetic/dlc on one platform and then playing on ps4/5. If you play a game with cross progression with playstation it means that dev/publisher is paying for it to be available.
So is it really that BHVR can't/won't pony up for cross progression? Not that any of us on the outside would really know but that seems like a reasonable assumption to me.I wonder if any developer has ever just straight up charged per-user for cross progression?
-
FALSE.
I play like trash and the game definitely does not reward me.

Cross progression will never happen for the very reason people want it. To leave console for PC, and in Sony and Microsoft's eyes, that's lost revenue on subscription fees and cosmetic purchases.
That's weird, I can play the same character on FFXIV on PC and PS4. Do you think it's genre specific or something? I would love to be able to play on PC sometimes and PS4 other times. Which I do.. But my PC progress sucks and so it's not nearly as fun.

To be fair, 500 hours is a lot of hours for a video game. Most big games are 40-50 tops so you have probably gotten your money’s worth.
Yeah, I was gonna say this. Will add, just divide and find dollars per hour. If it's not fun for you any more, there are a million other entertainments out there.
Sure, if you care about the game and want to be a voice in the community, that's totally cool. Your opinion is yours to give. I just don't think Behaviour is going to take action on people saying the game is stale unless it's a LOT more people.

slugging can be considered as a tactic and if u read carefully again I didn't slug at all, I caged the survivor, which puts survivor in the furthest position to killer possible, other side is just killing my fun that's all. They didn't earn it.
killer has right to slug anyway but if they wanna be a good guy and give u hatch it is killer's choice you are not guaranteed to escape in every trial
I didn't say you did it, just that it's irritating.

A, we're not 24 hours in, yet. People need more time to get it out of their system.
2, I don't know, I just wanted to do the "A then 2" thing.

They are listed second under 'known issues' on the patch notes.
"New Rank Crest images are part of the PTB. The new MMR system will not be active on PTB."
-
It could be an interesting addition because killers might try to position survivors to take advantage of these hooks. COuld be a cool additional type of mechanic if it's expanded upon. But I also thought that about Pyramid Head's cages and I don't think those have led to any further developments.
-
There is some belief that the survivor is coming as a separate paragraph somewhat later based on data mining. SO we're still wait and see on this point.
On the topic of The Cenobite, looks good and the powers look fun. The slow down perks look rough for survivors, to me. The smarter people will do the analysis there.
I think maybe that boon totems will come with this next survivor who might very well be your girl.
-
Downloading PTB now.

-
You said yourself it was funny. Killers get up to some of their own shenanigans but,.... they're usually not really that fun.
Hitting survivors repeatedly on hook, facecamp and nod, stuff like that. Just like survivors having their 'fun' things like flashlight clicking, teabagging at pallets, etc.
I agree, though, that leaving the last survivor slugged is a bit over the top as it forces you to wait for the entire 4 minutes to bleed out. People will say you should just do something else for that time, of course, but it sucks nonetheless.

They should be paired with Killers at their level. But due to Balancing, a Good Killer will never win against a Good Survivor Team.
I do not understand your logic here. You're saying that this team should have been matched against a better killer? Isn't this the guy that posts 50 game winning streaks online constantly?
If the best team is against the best killer, you can't really gain any understanding from one match. If this team and killer went 10 matches, what would be the outcome? Shouldn't one side win sometimes and the other side win sometimes?
I guess the insinuation is that after a certain skill level, there is no killer that can compete? So then what? That team just gets no matches?
-
It absolutely is your fault... but it doesn't matter. Tunneling is not illegal or against any rules. Even if you decided to single out that player and tunnel them down, too bad for them. They should pick up and move on.
That being said, some killers will go out of their way to be "nice" to the survivors. Sometimes, this is a bit mortifying. I've had killers ignore me because they know I'm on death hook and I guess I'm not a threat so why bother going after me? Some killers will get you that second time and then leave you slugged so you're still in the game.
Ultimately, though, people who main killer will tell you, it's still your part in the game to get kills and stop generator progress so that you can win the match. How you do it is absolutely up to you. If survivors are salty, that's just how the game works.
Decide what kind of killer you want to be but I wouldn't base it off of trying to always get good messages after every match. If you're 'nice' a different sort of survivor will also make fun or call you out. You're adversarial to them and although you might prefer to do things to make the match more fun, at the end of the day, you're certainly not obligated.

Use Spine Chill. Works against every Killer, even if they are undetectable. No more Myers, Ghost Face, Pig etc getting you without warning. Using this perk since 2.5 years. It works.
Alternatively: Use your camera and LOOK AROUND.
And playing as a stealth killer when they have spine chill gives me the ability to stare at a generator from a distance without being seen and have about a 40% chance of disrupting progress as the survivor leaves, thinking I am coming to them. Sometimes you can just do this as a form of map control which is fun. Stand off and face the generator and wait to see scratches on one side or the other as they run away...

Yeah but Kirsty's follows both DbD and BHVR on twitter and as far as I know, she also like the Hellraiser teaser. I doubt she won't look like the character if she makes an appearence.
Well, if the chain of 'ifs' comes through, we shall see. I just feel like pretty much most of the tv/movie characters went down this "doesn't look like X" road.
-
Another thing to keep in mind is there are varying levels of license. They might get a license for a character but not an actor's appearance. That seems more common than not. So a lot of people might be disappointed if they secured the character but the DBD version did not look like the actor. All anyone can do now is wait and see.

It was a map I once hated (as with most indoor maps because it's harder to find generators), and over time I like it quite a lot. But it's still just a map. I'd hope that the agreement with Netflilx is related to the name and appearance and not the layout which shouldn't be proprietary. I'd propose as some already have that BHVR just gut the graphics and make a revamped map with the same layout, a new name and different appearance. The suggestion to make an All-Kill/Trickster themed map seems doable, though I don't like the aesthetic in this horror genre.
-
Either you don't understand what is happening or you're really just being overly dramatic. Licensing is an agreement between parties. It's got a time limit, that limit is expiring and the two parties did not agree to continue the relationship. it's not some horrible rock bottom.
-
Meh, it's irritating when the killer leaves the second-to-last survivor slugged as well, which is EVERY match.
You're just not guaranteed a 4K and the other side needs to have fun, too. Sorry.

There's no skill based matchmaking right now. It's a healthy mix of returning players that aren't good and actual new survivors at high ranks. There's still a decent/reasonable chance that at least 1 of the 4 survivors are actually good. With SBMM enabled, that's off the table.
If I'm great at a killer, say rank 1, and I create a new account on my Playstation, I can play that killer at rank 20. That would put me against rank 20 survivors. Not sure how I see that SBMM makes it different than ranked.
-
Getting camped or tunneled stinks but that's kinda just too bad. Just like all of the survivors smartly concentrating on generators sucks for killers.
The bottom line is that if both sides are focused, it will be a bad match without much earned and at least one side not having a good time.
This game is not good based on it's mechanics, but based on what the players do with them to create a fun match. Usually, this happens through the synergy of 5 people playing however they want to play, but the most damaging thing to having fun is when the killer decides to focus someone down 1-1. It's the same in, say, an MMO environment when an entire team decides to focus down your healer or whatever. No one likes getting nothing done and dying, but the game puts the enjoyment of the game in the hands of your opposite numbers, so you have to live with that.

What's stopping people from just making alt steam accounts and family sharing the game to poop on new people? I can already see even a mediocre/bad Nurse, or Twins, or Plague, just absolutely stomping for 4 or 5 games before it catches up.
That doesn't sound like much, but if you have a huge influx of people playing and 25 or 30 killers doing this, it's going to ruin the introduction of the game for a lot of people.
You could always do this. I have a second PS4 account with no progress because my wife and I were going to start a challenge where when each survivor dies, you have to move on to the next... But we were playing through the rift and now there's another one and so on.
But you could always do this, so not sure what the point is? This is not a differentiator between ranks and SBMM.

What I want is maps to be fixed to the point that allows a killer other then nurse or spirit to succeed. I want maps to actually ALLOW you to get pressure with downs and slugs.
This goes hand in hand with maps. I want gens to NOT pop on the first chase. I don't want to get my first hook and go to the gen to find that 2 more are about ready to pop.
I don't care about the quality of survivor. But it's undeniable that when it's 4 VERY good survivors. They know how to use the maps and will ######### on basically every killer. And pop all gens with the killer getting 3 to 4 hooks.
It's THAN not THEN.
-
LOL I'd rather see a Scooby-Doo chapter first if that's going to happen. But yeah, not an aesthetic I appreciate, especially in a game like this.
-
**** ****** **** the ****** ****** lol.
-
I think another mechanic needs to be introduced. Like.. .secondary switches that have to be flipped somewhere else when a generator is done or something. Something to encourage more running around/opportunity for killer chases.

As a huge fan of cryptids and the myths surrounding them ... Yes!
Mothman would be great. Or Bigfoot and Werewolf.
Agreed.
There's that vampire from that recent cinematic. Everyone seems to think this will be licensed, though.
I would agree that there's a lot of fodder in cryptids as well as 'old school' monsters like the mummy, werewolves, other regional legendary monsters, etc. Could be fun.

They still can abuse it by jumping into a locker to bully the killer and to get a guaranteed escape during EGC. Free escape during EGC is not "protection against tunneling", and unfortunately it still works exactly like this.
Just curious, how is it bullying the killer to jump into a locker?

No I want to talk about it.
Really, just consider it feedback. I do try to play to make the game entertaining in some way for all 5 people playing. Sure, though, sometimes I just go into killer mode... Got a 4K last night as Oni and a 3K as Leatherface along those lines.
But if your instinct is to say 'no [BAD WORD], I wasn't trying to do that", then you're fine, just shrug it off.
If you thought 'darn, I like to think the survivors are having fun on my watch', then you can react accordingly.
If you think of survivors as enemies that you just need to thwart and since they seemingly treat you the same, you don't care well, then.. I'm curious why you made this thread. If you don't care, don't care. If you do care, think about it in future matches. Seems fairly simple...

that isn't how it works. as long as the survivor presses the pallet button they will not get hit. There are a lot of videos of people doing exactly what you're saying and it doesn't hit.
This is a video of a survivor throwing the pallet and then getting hit.

That sounds more like a server issue than the killer suddenly pulling a trick to dc you.
The fact that the killer couldn´t do much during the match isn´t a sign of the killer being bad, but of the killer also having server issues.
Could be that the game matched him with survivors from a different continent. Happens rarely, but happens.
Yeah, more likely it's just that the killer had really attenuated connection and also got disconnected. OP claims just seem outlandish. I don't call many things impossible, though, but I do rank things by likelihood and try to work on them in that order. It's WAY more likely that it's any of a number of things and not at all likely that it's some killer exploit.
-
Error code 8012 is not anything new and it sounds like connections in the game got attenuated and got so bad that you got disconnected. Your ping probably has nothing to do with this as it's not a guarantee of connection or anything.
This post seems pretty over-reactive.
-
A disconnect is not a 'game crash'. There are a lot of layers between you and the game server.
It may very well be directly related to the game, but it can also be ISP related, your local network or any number of things.
A disconnect is a disconnect, however, and the penalties are in place, currently.
You can take some precautions to see if it's something you can change or fix but I'll leave that to you to search on the internet as the solutions are common to any online game.
-
Unless my wife is playing, I play killer just for the BP farming. It's so anemic for survivor by comparison, it's awful. Especially trying to clear level 50 bloodwebs. Ugh.
