I'm more talking about the counter for Undying and the perfect perk to combo with Inner Strength.

Helps you find totems, "heal faster" and cleanse fast enough that the Killer has issues stopping you even if they see your aura and come running

Throw in Distortion to hide your aura a few times.

nothing just genrushing also using best perk they can but how killers are playing I don't blame them.

they been some farm game tho I like tho in this kind event.

Genrushing is counter to farming BP.

Longer matches = more BP for each survivor still alive.

But that's the same with "tunneling". The best killers have the skill to hook juggle survivors and not kill until all the survivors have been hooked once or twice.

Obviously, the rush to "win"/finish the game (via 4K as the killer or all gens as the survivors), is the reason to play as well as the bane of enjoyment for the game.

If the killer just quickly manages to 4K, that's boring for the survivors (and it's boring to just get 1-2-3 hooked as an individual survivor), as well as it's boring for the killer if the survivors manage to get the gens done and get out with little killer interaction.

I don't know how it would be fixed but this sure seems like a block to making the game enjoyable to me.

  • I'm doing this. I was never high rank but I play survivor most of the time with my spouse and decided it would be fun to do some killer while she was tired from a hectic work day and wanted to rest.

I have a couple killers with perks from others (in particular BBQ so I can harvest blood points to spend back on survivors), and I was deranked to 20. Honestly, it was fun because I had more control of the match with lower rank survivors (so it seemed).

I even tried to give one person the hatch and they had no idea what it was...

    So yeah, probably not intentional.

  • Rank 11 here, I'm terrible but not a bot.

    I have fun, though. Sorry.

In among us it's there's a golden rule to not say when your dead, who the killer is, or who killed you because it ruins the charm of the game Otherwise the game would be stale. I wish SWF in DBD did this as well.

AMong Us literally tells you to do this (not talk during play unless it's a meeting and not if you're dead). People talking out of a meeting or when they are dead are defeating the mechanics of the game in the stupidest way. How is that even fun?

As a killer, I don't really tunnel survivors but I have a tendency to chase bad survivors. For example, if I am in a part of a map I don't really want to chase, I won't chase a good survivor but if it's a bad survivor I know I can down in 20 seconds max, I am very likely to chase them. These survivors tend to get chased more often and die fast, which gives the illusion of tunnelling but really I am just chasing them because they are easy targets. As for camping, I rarely do it. When I camp, it's because it's the end game and there's no reason to leave the hook or a survivor is 10-15 seconds from reaching the next hook stage.

Tldr: you get tunneled because you are bad at looping

I am this player. I'm just bad so far at chases. I sometimes run into the killer or look back and then run into something while looking back. Getting better at being chased is a sloooooow process for me. I play with my wife and she is much better at it. I tend to try to play more stealth and go for more Borrowed Time unhooks but if the killer catches me, it's usually a pretty rapid progression to end of match for me.

Sometimes I curse the killer as a tunneler but... killers should do what they need to in order to win, so <shrug>.

  • Bottom line, if it's Bubba, throw altruism out the window and SURVIVE.

I can see what you mean and it is pretty lame when a killer tunnels, but isn't getting a player out of the game as fast as possible the best way to win? Once one person is dead, the efficiency of the remaining survivors drops a considerable amount.

Yeah, this is why I'm on the fence about tunneling. I play both sides and although it frustrates me no end to just get 1-2-3 hooked, I recognize as a survivor that it's my own fault some of the time - and that it's not another portion of the time.

As a killer, sometimes it's a matter of desperation or opportunity. Often I try to spread hooks out but if necessary, as with playing survivor... Anything goes if it gets to the goal.

At the end of the day, if I am a killer, I justify anything that kills the opposition and as a survivor... well, do I survive at all costs or give up?

  • Don't go by looks alone. Sometimes the noises a character makes can be the deal breaker.

I know it's funny to make Bill cough but as a huge Left 4 Dead fan back in the day, I was sure I'd want to play Bill as my main.

Ugh, that coughing. I couldn't stand listening to that coughing.

For Steve, can you stand the sounds that he makes? I could not if I wanted to play him as main.

Ultimately, you can unlock the perks you want eventually for any character, so I'd worry more about the total experience of using the character 'skin' you choose.

Then again, it's easy to switch. I cycled through Dwight, then Jeff then Ace and somehow, I'm pretty much playing Nea as my main, go figure.

  • Really, the solution is to just get three generators done.

    Kindred helps..

I agree that being camped on the hook is both annoying and boring. For my part, it's just something that's part of the game.

I also hate when the killer slugs the second-to-last survivor so that the hatch doesn't open. At least that's slightly less boring (unless you're the one slugged).

I try to play in a way that's fun for me but also takes the fun of the other players into consideration.

When a game gets too frustrating or one match ruins my experience, I believe in walking away from it for a while.

I’ve seen many straight up basement camp and get a 4k but they always get less than 10k points and depip/derank? There’s already enough incentive to not do it point/rank wise, many just do it to be toxic or because they are mad and someone just pissed them off with a flashlight save or good mindgame. The community and many of its members are simply toxic and I don’t think it’s smth that needs (or even can) to be fixed properly by creators. Endgame chat always ruins perfectly good games for me when people trash talk and name call. It’s easier for killers to farm and get points to rank up than it is for them to be toxic.

Ah see, this is where the game needs the greatest change.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, but things are a bit off. If you think of what is presented in the lore as the main goal, it's for the survivors to get out the gate and for the killer to kill.

If either side is too efficient - if survivors just do gens then leave, or if the killer just quickly kills all of the survivors, it is usually actually not that great of a game experience- low score and not much fun had by all (arguably, a "bloody" 4K as a killer can feel fun, but as a survivor just holding the gen button then leaving is pretty boring). I think that needs to be fixed. Only by individuals working outside of those two goals - doing things like practicing hook rotation as a killer or seeking out engagement with the killer as the survivor- does the game start to have more activity and (subjectively), fun.

  • @Orion said:

Already tried and abused by survivors... Stop thinking of punishing the killer for camping and think of rewarding him for not camping.

Absolutely this. When anyone choosing camping sees a better reward for not doing it, they will not do it.

The adversarial nature of this game always seems to force players to think of ways to penalize or punish the 'other side' and it's not really a logical way to handle playability issues. Punish killers enough or take enough fun or reward and that's how you get no one playing killer.

Progression is a heady problem in this game. When everyone is making such a big deal about rank and pips, the game becomes about making rank and pips. For some that is fun, and they have to be 'on top' and show off that they're rank 1. That's fun for those people.

I think that the game needs to be engaging and fun to play, not a contest to get to rank 1.

When I'm playing survivor, I leave the open gate to try to make that hopeless basement hook save. Because I don't care about pipping constantly. It's much more fun making that near-impossible save or dying to try to save someone than to just run out and rank up slightly. Maybe I'm still too much of a role-player.

  • I just want middle finger emote when on the hook. Great to show those killers what you think!

I play killer and still think this would be great :D

  • Think of hook status as 'sacrifice status' instead.

I like that there are new mechanics here that are really upsetting the meta. Breaking all of the gameplay around hooks and forcing new play patterns is a good thing. I hope there are more, similar changes to the game forthcoming that force everyone to play differently.

I actually just bought it, I received DBD for free when it was a free game of the month for ps4 and have recently started getting into the game because of this chapter and have purchased no prior DLC. This price is actually great for starters, I get two bonus DLCs along with the initial purchase. Shattered bloodlines and Curtain Call, so I get the clown, Spirit, Kate and I forget the survivors name for the spirit lol. Along with triangle face and Cher Cher. The theme plays the silent hill remix of the DBD them whilst alternating between two slightly animated pics of pyramid head and Cheryl. Sorry for the bad pics, didn’t feel like screenshots lol.

check the store, friend. I think you get the Saw chapter and maybe another one free as well (it's there for no charge but you have to "purchase" it and download it.

  • Last man standing--ish.

Completing a generator pushes the survivors out of a section of the map until only one section is left. There are no gates. Survivors get bonus blood points based on the order of their death, longest alive gets highest points. The killer gets points based on how quickly they kill the whole group.

This post is why I usually defend the Devs.

Its pretty much "I paid, I rule"

Yeah, just silly. I'd rather have people have lives and treat work as work - especially for something as trivial as a game, than have things instantly or immediately. I work in a time critical industry and my partner works with critical health care equipment so it's not like there aren't important things out there. Games are a luxury and even though I paid for a game, if it takes a while to address or fix something, I'll live. I have plenty in my life besides DBD if there's an issue with it.

  • Yes, this is disappointing. This should be available with the purchase of the expansion, not a new purchase of the entire game.

  • There is in fact a tip on the loading screen. Treating the cage as 'not a hook' and thus not involving any hook-related perks on the survivor or killer side is entirely intentional.

  • i think it's a good idea in that the survivors are supposed to be focused on what they're doing. Same with chests and totems.
