  • But.. I mean... Isn't everyone technically in red ranks "because they did what the emblems told them to do"?

I guarantee you that if the emblems were hidden, there would be a huge effort to figure out how to rank up JUST to rank up. It's also my feeling that almost every person who is red ranks, in particular as survivor, is there mostly because of this.

I just play how I want and you win some, you lose some. Sometimes I do things that don't get me great emblems and I just don't care. I think my highest rank is 9 but I have fun almost every time I play. I DO think the matches were a bit better with MMR but it was such a short time that it's hard to judge for sure.

  • I find that spinning or even running in a semi-random figure 8 can work pretty well on more open ground.

I also tend to maniacally scream things like "OH GOD KILLER BABY WHAT IS THAT THING". That seems to have a sometimes positive effect. ymmv.

When he's ON you, you definitely need to scream "GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF OH GOD MAKE IT STOP". This is guaranteed to reduce the time he is on you.

*Note: The above might just be things that entertain me and my wife.

  • Honestly, only because you want to give other players a break. It sucks to be tunelled, so of course people complain about it. I don't consider it bad bevaviour (heh), but it is super irritating. The argument, I suppose, goes that survivors do irritating things as well to killers. Round and round.

Over time, I've really smoothed out my annoyances with the game. I rarely 'get mad' at killers for their behaviour. I just find it irritating when the game is short and no fun and I've let my team down by not getting enough done in a match. Same with maps, I kinda don't hate any maps any more although I've only gotten RPD once.

But Hag.... [BAD WORD] hag. I hate those traps and there's too many of them.

  • For myself, I hope that everyone in the match gets the chance to participate in a few ways, chases, generators, hook and unhook, healing. Not all survivors aren't going to try any of those things, though, let alone all. I do prefer a killer that will try to work through hooks on all survivors but of course, that's not exactly a killer's goal.

I almost wish the game had a 'hope meter' or a 'despair meter' or something that we could watch and then sort of get more cut-throat when the entity thinks the time is right and the survivors are ripe for culling or the killer needs a lesson in humility!

That’s excellent. And a good point. I use DD on Myers. So funny when he’s in T3 EW

Yeah, this. I got DD just to specifically use on Meyers to create confusion.

  • Interesting comments from all.

It seems to me that there is a limit because it just becomes too much. What if there were 50 on each side? I don't think anyone wants to think about all of the unlocking. With changes to how unlocking or using perks functions, I can see it.

And of course, there's still content... Maps in particular, new mechanics and there's certainly the possibility of releasing perks without attaching them to an individual. There are already perks that are common to all killers even without teachables and same with survivors.

At some point, couldn't you introduce a tool that lets you make your own survivor's appearance like a lot of games do?

I think this is one of those things where there's always a limit. 50 killers? 100 survivors? 250?

Of course, reality will provide an end point, as some have pointed out, the money will stop coming in, but I think the relative breakneck pace at which they're releasing a relatively insulated type of content will provide a solid limit. It was pointed out that WoW and other games have been releasing content for years (yeah, how many expansions does EQ2 have?). But here, we're JUST talking about characters with relatively limited abilities...

Anyway, it's interesting and would be interesting to think what they might do to revive the game if they decided that characters were not bringing in the $$$$.

  • They care like Amazon cares for their workers, like the Mafia cares for their marks, like governments for their citizens. Like farmers for their crops.

  • I think something like a version of Corrupt Intervention would help. Have only three generators even accessible at the beginning of the match and then unlock another generator or two every time one of these primary generators is done.

Obviously, this would REALLY advantage the killer and you'd have to somehow avoid 'three genning' right out of the gate... or chalk it up to the oppressive rng of the game. I'd also like to see something like killers being slower near completed generators or something like that - to show the light starting to 'win' and give the survivors hope.

Anyway, I'm not very analytical, I'm sure these are terrible ideas but I think that trying to balance a game so that it feels balanced when you play against someone with a HUGE number of hours in the game is impossible. If someone has thousands of hours opposing your role, you will not generally beat them. That's just a fact in any game, really.

  • @Shroompy said:

Youre right, you dont need to follow some unwritten rules that people made up, after all you bought the game right?

Thing is, those people who youre being an ass to ALSO bought the game, and the majority of the time, people buy a game for 1 reason. They expect to have fun in said game.

If your fun comes at the cost of others theres a problem

It's a fundamental problem with a multiplayer game online, of course. It's easy to inculcate a sense of 'other' and revile the other side even though that other side is just people like us. Somehow, those others are the bad players while the ones like me are the good ones! You see it everywhere there is any choice involved. It's really great when things are done with a sense of community across ALL the players in a match or forums but it rarely happens. Kumbaya, whatever. Can't we all just get along?

  • Yeah, yeah.

And survivors job is to survive at any cost. So according to your definition, if the game lets you do it, go ahead.

I'm actually fine with that... but I play the game to have fun, not be subject to your requirements of efficiency. A better match is when there are hooks, chases, generators completed and whatever else that boosts people's blood points and other rewards from playing.

A match where the survivors just get gens done and leave probably feels dominating but is boring and results in very little reward.

A match where the killer just kills everyone straight away probably feels dominating but it's boring and also provides very little reward.

I prefer matches that reward me for the time and provide for some fun interplay. Obviously you don't, but there's a discussion point for you.

This opens the doors to playing Survivor to grind for Archives challenges and Rift levels for consoles. They're not fixing it but I am very glad they're extending it.

It's weird. I've played PC games for many years but console on and off. It's more difficult these days for me to get used to playing on PC after enough years on the PLaystation. I've played both DBD and RDR2 on PC and I find that my 'muscle memory' related to controllers is hampering when using mouse and keyboard. There again, no problem playing WoW with mouse and keyboard. There's just something about having played a game for so many hours with one control interface that makes it more difficult for me with a different set of controls. Too old, maybe.

  • I can't think of a reason to have end game chat. I usually play on PS4 so don't see it really ever.

My only weird experience with it was playing Meyers on PC where someone started sending me daddy fetish stuff.

I don't need any positive boost from end game chat. Maybe solicit the thumbs up/down that's already in the end game screens but without any real repercussions if people need a feedback boost from other players.

Ultimately, although I advocate for both sides to weigh in and try to make fun matches that go the distance, in most cases, it's going to be killers killing and survivors trying to stop, slow and irritate them to try to get out. That's going to piss off the opposite number on both sides and it's not going to get better. Killers will be pissed, survivors will be pissed. Don't bother trying to mitigate their after-game communication, it's a fool's game.

  • I don't play online but the single player of RDR2 is amazing. I'm about to start my third play through.

  • Hmmm, next time I play I'll try to grab something. It's mostly "spacial awareness" in the game in that I sometimes can't see the killer or red stain and so do poorly at chases.

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

...people hate it because it has no requirements to use besides 'be injured', which is going to happen in a chase anyway.

It may not give as much distance as the other Exhaustion perks, but it's on demand distance with no downsides.

Sprint Burst forces you to move slowly lest you activate it prematurely, Lithe needs a vault, Balanced Landing needs a drop & Smash Hit needs a pallet stun. Dead Hard? All you gotta do is push

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UOKPJUCDKGCD/image.png

It takes no skill, or effort, or timing to Dead Hard for distance. Mess up a loop? It doesn't matter, because you can simply Dead Hard to make it to the pallet/vault anyway. There's no counterplay to this. The Killer cannot prevent the Survivor from using it incorrectly.

It's a free second chance button that can be used multiple times a match with only a short cooldown between them. The definition of a crutch perk.

Huh, weird. Are you under the impression that everything except Dead Hard is the only perk that takes 'no skill'? Hmmm, the killer cannot prevent the survivor from using it incorrectly? Why is that required? I am not sure what you are on about with this. Yes, it's a free second chance. That is it's purpose.

this is literally the dumbest thing i have ever read on here

You say that but I am sure that most killers fell exactly like this. The game has escaping as the 'success' for survivor and killing all 4 survivors as success for the killer. Anything less is a failure. I disagree but I believe that is the belief in both sides of the community.

I like escaping and I know it contributes towards pipping and gives 5K blood points, but there are much more interesting things survivors might be able to do at the end of the match. That being said, if it looks completely hopeless, I definitely might duck out.

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2345716#Comment_2345716

A couple different reasons, namely that A) you don't always want higher rarity items (e.g. your favourite add-ons are common/uncommon), and B) we don't want prestiging to feel like a mandatory thing-- it's meant to be an optional extra that you can do if you've got a ton of extra time and feel like it, not something you need to do to stay competitive.

I see what you mean. Good thing I'm not a game designer. I guess that's why the 'improved' percentage to get better items is very small. Or maybe the ability to complete each giant blood web without actually paying for every item so I can leave behind a certain number of items that I don't want based on my prestige level... Like maybe I don't HAVE to buy brown items anymore but they are present as an option.

What about cheaper BP prices per item or something? People are definitely looking for something for prestiging. The bloody outfit thing feels like a relic from before so many outfits were available.

  • @Peanits said:

I can clear that up right now: There is an increased to get higher quality nodes in your bloodweb, but it is incredibly slight. So while they're not a myth, it's probably not worth doing just to get rarer items unless you intend to keep dumping bloodpoints into that character for a long time.

Why is it so slight, though? This is weirdly stingy. Why don't they just... I don't know, make way fewer 3000 BP items at level 1, fewer 4000 at level 2, fewer 5000 at level 3? Then prestige means you really do get more 6k and up items.

  • What are they farming? Tiny amounts of blood points? Doesn't something like We're Gonna Live Forever require a safe unhook?

Are you saying that the unhooker is relying on my DS to protect me based on the killer assuming I have it long enough for the unhooker to get the safe unhook?

Because I've been getting so many people who are unhooking me while they are IN CHASE or the killer is literally RIGHT THERE. I can't figure why they're doing this except inexperience or some kind of misplaced panic.

  • Not red ranks but I try to look at everyone's builds every match and compare it to my experience with those players. Especially as survivor, looking at what killers are doing. It did take a while but yes, always assume BBQ these days. It's just a matter of discerning where the killer headed off after that hook. Kindred sure can help with that as the killer usually doesn't have a lot of time to be circumspect and heads right toward whoever. Adding open-handed to Kindred is nice because you can see that much longer.

  • With all the amazing players you see on here, it's amazing that you all aren't ending up in the same matches playing so perfectly against each other. Somehow, there's so many people that can run the killer for 5 generators, manage godly chases, cleanse all the totems, repair all the generators, open all the chests, solve world hunger and beat billionaires to make the first vanity trip to space.

But somehow, in reality, I'm betting that there's some hubris in all these comments. With four people in each game, you all can't possible be carrying as much as you let on.

For myself, for a number of killers, DS seems to just be a delay because they recover from the stun and just get right back on the chase. I do use it sometimes and some of the other second chance perks for slugging and hooking but they all end up feeling very situational and might not come into play for many matches so I end up churning through them to try to settle on which ones are the most useful during the most matches.

  • Ha.

They could start putting stuff into the lore about the entity wanting to create a new realm for itself and the dev/director diaries could be from the entity's perspective as it tries to build the new realm.

  • I mean, as a survivor, I get an indicator when you're chasing the obsession. You don't see the wiggly entity legs?

  • I mean, at this point do they need to go the 'A Realm Reborn' route?

Friendly feedback BigBrain, the expression is 'en masse', not 'in masse'.

  • @Ruma said:

Everyone one said its not that simple.

Can you explain me how other games get it to work then?

I think of a game like Team Fortress 2 which has simpler, cartoony graphics and is ages old but a VERY long time ago made it so, although the game itself and it's enjoyment are built around hitboxes, latency and players' perception of these things, keeps it's players happy and has for years. I'm sure there are other examples. Sorry, Scott Jund, webcode or whatever it's called, in a multiplayer environment is definitely an area where DBD can be compared to other properties. There are literally dozens of games out there that somehow figured out latency and hitboxes in a competitively-minded environment yet 5 years on, here we are. Performance is a fundamental problem that, to me, should trump any other problems with the game. It should be priority 1.

  • @truegod_10 said:

Console should have a PTB but behavior shouldn't be using the PTB for major bugs anyway. It should be for minor bugs, extremely rare bugs, and balance checks before a release. Major bugs on all platforms should be caught by their testing team.

Console should get the PTB to help check for balance on console as well, but the main issue is behavior should not be depending on their players to find major bugs for them. They need to be able to do that themselves.

The game needs some kind of connection testing where they try to stress test full games. It's obviously a problem for the code.

  • Too big, too complex. Not built to make this game fun or to feel reasonably competitive for either side. I think fans of the RE games might appreciate the adherence to the layout but that nostalgia is only momentary and they we all have to live with it and play in this huge labyrinth. There are a lot of extraneous areas like the multiple 'outside' balconies and courtyards or whatever that could easily be cut. Split into multiple maps. Why do we have so many Badham maps and then this one gigantic monstrosity? Maps should be built to optimize the DBD experience, not to enslave everyone to a nostalgic look at another game.

  • It's definitely the points. The main reason that I play killer is to get faster BP to spend on the survivor side.

I'm almost done with all perks on one character, so that will be interesting. I might even settle on one build for more than a few games now that I have all the choices.

Currently, in one match as killer while playing so hopefully everyone gets a good amount of bloodpoints, with cakes and using as many perks and addons and offerings as I can to max bloodpoints, I can get WAY more than I can as survivor. Which is a problem. A survivor playing well should net about the same as a killer playing well. But it kinda feels like someone, somewhere said 'hey, there's four survivors so they should get proportionately less than the killer'... makes no sense to me. Sure, if you get killed early in the match it makes sense but it's just WAY easier, match-for-match, for a killer to gain BP over playing as survivor.

  • Yes, and it's clear that this camera facing is what counts. I've revealed a Ghost Face many times while slugged and on hook. it's something I make a point to try to do as they already got me so I could be doing another survivor a favor. Definitely get Ghost Face as much in the center of your screen if he's stalking and you're down or on hook. What more can he do to you?

  • @Razorbeam said:

Consoles don't need a PTB they can test the general health of an update in house using like 5/6 different consoles and know everything they need to about an update, no issues arise on a console that BHVR wasn't aware of ahead of time.

If you mean for general play testing it's pointless as PTBs in this game are used as marketing hype tools and not for actual changes. The PTB version of DBD is like 5 versions behind what they are working on behind the scenes, that's why you never see changes made based on PTB feedback.

Edit: just for clarification, I agree a lot more consideration needs to go into the effect of client updates and the console community, we absolutely agree there, just PTBs in this game are not used in the same way as many other games, their pure hype tools to try and rope people back or get people excited for changes.

You had me in the second part, so to speak.

Has the community, except for me and this guy, not figured out that it's not a test build, it's a preview to get word out on the internet, usually via our Fog Whisperer friends? Sure, there will be a scheduled few changes before go-live, but seeing the titanic amount of times that people ######### that something was not changed from ptb is laughable when it's obvious that nothing stops or slows the train. They aren't usually planning on any wholesale changes, else there would be much more dramatic phases of testing and sometimes there would be delays and lengthened test cycles to be seen. Nope.

It's all a scripted timeline with minor tweaks and then just eat what comes out. It's fine, I'd just prefer some honesty about it.

  • @Mandy said:

The whole point of the RBT's is to put pressure on the team, to get that player off a gen - which it does effectively, leaving the Pig player to go pressure the rest of the generators.

Continually going for the player who's got the trap on their head is the most inefficient way of playing Pig as you're already pressurising the player that's not doing the generators whilst leaving the other survivors free to do generators and leave the match.

Yeah but it feels more oppressive and more sadistic so some killers are more than happy to try to maximize piling on that one player. At non-red ranks, at least, they lose very little pressure a lot of the time as to my experience, survivors aren't exactly maximizing gen time. I'm amazed sometimes when I can see survivor auras at how many people are not doing ANYTHING. They're just crouching and looking for the killer even when the killer is clearly elsewhere... So I think it's easy to learn that at least I can pick on this one bear-trapped survivor since no one else will get anything done materially while I kill them, anyway.

Not that I don't agree with your initial comment.

  • I feel that hag traps are WAY too indulgent. They get too many, imho.

Same with the Jokester's knives. I hate these two killers the most at the moment.

  • Not for me. Just since whatever changes, I can't counter them. They just rush up with their improved speed while cloaked, have the add on for no bell noises, decloak and hit me. I feel like it's not something that can be dealt with. I used to see them coming, or hear their pug snorting but it seems like lately they are just completely stealth. I guess I could start using Spine Chill again...

From the devs' perspective, all these issues are tolerable and don't stop people from playing the game, since everyone who experiences them keeps playing the game.

You know what I did when I found the matchmaking an issue because I kept getting survivors who were much stronger than me? I stopped playing killer altogether (instead of playing occasionally). I didn't play killer, reach high ranks, complain about the matchmaker, and then continued playing, because that just means I don't really mind the problem.

And we can all see the impact you had. Thanks for getting that fixed.

I play a game as long as it's fun. I take a break or leave when it's not. It's not any grand statement and you're not really impacting anything acting like you stopped to teach the devs a lesson. You didn't.

Do you take this tack with everything in your life? Something goes bad at work, quit! Kid acts up? Get rid of him! Car trouble? Sell it?

    Weird.

Sure, if a game becomes unbearable I won't play it. But to think that stopping playing sends some grand message, well. Maybe I was in the WoW trenches too long.

Best I could do is not buy Cyberpunk. I am a huge fan of the genre. I have read Cyberpunk since the actual 80s. I've played Shadowrun on and off for years, bought many games. I was a kickstarter supporter of Shadowrun Returns. I could NOT wait for Cyberpunk to come out. Regretfully, I can't buy it. It's reportedly terrible and the KIND of terrible that it reportedly is is the kind of terrible I dislike. I don't, however, think I am making a discernible message to the developers. I just know I would be disappointed if I play it.

I honestly believe that both sides are to blame. But it's a chicken and the egg scenario. Lemme explain. No matter what a killer does in a match despite tunneling and camping being viable strategies to employ, they will inevitably run across piece of s$&# survivors that want to "style" on killers with t bagging and excessive clicking of flashlights, and same can be said for killers that will find survivors and tunnel from hook one and when they get off hook they shake their head and put them back up. One side will cry wolf and the village shows up a few times, but in the end eventually the village stops giving a damn. We know who the "village" in this scenario is. I'm a survivor main, but lemme say I have zero issue with tunnelers or campers. I simply don't care. It's not worth my time and effort getting upset over a game. I love the game, but this type of game breeds this kind of childish notion. It's one versus 4, and given some of my teammates these last couple days I would say it felt more like 3v3 but that's another issue, the game will never find a balance for everyone because it is inherently unbalanced. Have a lovely day.

Maybe because I don't play red ranks or maybe because I'm on console, I don't get very many 'bad behaving' survivors. I do get cranky with killers when I get killed off quickly but I can often see that it's my own fault...

I think NOT having the message window is helpful. People seem compelled to say something and maybe it's better not to have the option. The only real feedback I've gotten once on PC was someone saying like 'choke me daddy' stuff (surely as a joke?), after a match where I was playing Meyers.

There was a time when we would get messages through the playstation messaging system but that's very rare these days and it's usually just something funny rather than salt.

Maybe you all just need to play worse.

I think a lot of people are stuck on the destination rather than the journey, if that makes sense.

Many survivors deem escaping to be the most important 'win' condition.

Many killers believe that it's all about getting kills, in particular a 4K.

I happen to think there's a lot more to the game and try to play in interesting ways. Sure, I am not a great player and it's easy not to care about rank when I couldn't get to red ranks anyway, but I like the freedom of trying all kinds of fun builds with non-meta perks and doing fun stuff as killer rather than making every match an exercise of how great I am at hooking people out of matches.

You can demand, but nobody cares about it. Nobody in this world owes anything to anyone. From strangers at least.

    >I think everyone should be trying to make the game fun.

This could only work if everyone, or at least most, wanted it. But in reality, being an altruist in the world of egoists, only you will lose. Also, there is always a winner and a loser in the game. You are unlikely to make both happy. Some people just need to learn to accept defeat.

    >I try to figure out how to make the game fun.

I don't want to figure out how to make the game fun for everyone, while my opponents want to make it fun only for themselves. In reality, the majority behave this way.

    >I certainly don't want to be hooking someone out of a match without doing anything else just because I'm not creative enough to find a better way to play.

It's not a question of creativity. It's a question of balance. And you would have understood this if you don't play more survivor than killer.

    >without doing anything else

Btw, nobody said "stand there and do nothing more." For many survivors, it is enough to see you return to the hook to complain. Even if you gave enough chances to save for others. Actually 50-80% of my "camp and tunnel" is caused by survivors' mistakes. For example, sitting on gen to the last, missing the moment when it was possible to save. Their teammates just traded them for gens. But, of course, the killer is to blame, who should not have come near the hook at all, so that they could invest as much time as possible in gens, and then save by the end of the stage. As a survivor, I always think about how and when to do it better. But they don't want to use their brains. They prefer to simply demand that killer play in a way that suits them. It is your task to beat him and think about how best to do it. If killer just stands at hook and does nothing, he will lose with smart survivors. And if he is smart, then he also understands it. So your task is to make him want to get away from hook. Make to think him what stand there will be unprofitable. And smart survivors will find how to do it. Or just two will come running and unhooked him. Or he gets his one kill and other three flee. I have verified this personally, many times. But most simply cannot turn on their heads and evaluate the match globally. They just hear terror and immediately call it camp and tunneling, they do not understand at all what the killer is doing at the moment.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2336740#Comment_2336740

Beat any survivor, you mean? Not. The balance in this game is on the side of the survivors. 4 smart survivors - have a chance to beat any killer much more than 50%. And if the killer plays on "fairplay" - much more. I am far from always play "non-fairplay" killer. But only because in a public now has a huge number of weak survivors.

Sorry, my main point wasn't about 'just standing there' in a hook situation. I was addressing your complaint about gen-rushing. Survivors that just do gens then leave (as an extreme example, the killer does nothing; I've seen this with AFK killers), end up with a ######### match. Sure they escape (throw some confetti, I guess), but they achieved almost nothing toward any measureable goal like scoring bloodpoints, increasing rank, etc.

I suppose you're right, we shouldn't expect anyone to be anything but selfish and these forums should be used for discussing other matters. Sorry to waste your time with an opinion that is not your own.

here's the thing, I dont even care if I die in the match. I don't have to survive to have a good time. I just want to enjoy playing and can't do so if I'm dead 1 min in. I want to earn my points and have fun. after all that's what gaming is supposed to be about.

Agreed. A lot of time, rescuing another survivor against the odds, even if I did, is fun. I've gotten to where, if I'm on death hook at the end of the match and have the gate, I usually leave. But if not, I try to stick around to see if anyone gets caught or hooked as rescuing people during the end game collapse seems extra fun.

I apologize, I forgot escaping wasn't what high-level Survivors were trying to do.

It is, of course, one of the things they're trying to do. You presumably know exactly what I mean.

    I'll play how I want.

I don't ask Survivors to not slam gens against me. I understand it's their best strategy.

Not really. If you just stood there and they got all the gens done and ran out, it would be a terrible match for everyone.

Survivors need points from chases, healing and unhooks, not just generators. Really, a group that's just there to do generators and leave doesn't understand the game they're playing.

Survivors are so bad! I mean they can’t ruin my game or do anything to prevent me from playing but they are still so trash! Ban all survivors BHVR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭

    - every killer main that goes to these forums.

This is just a 'clever' response thread to the one about killers that's exactly the same.

The fact is true, however. By demonizing the 'other side,' which is really just other players, there is a percentage of the community that will drive away players. That certainly comes from both sides. It's just easier as killer because it's just one person rather than four.

I stop tunneling and camping, when I stop seeing toxicity from survivors and time to gens done will be increased.

Good survivors can beat any killer.

    @Sypherpathic

    >I think killers should be looking at how to make the match fun for everyone playing.

Oh my goodness. People still think that someone else should provide them with fun instead. Superegocentric position. Most survivors will not make gifts to killer in this game. They use every possible means to win, no matter how "unfair" they seem. (remember at least the "antitunnel" DS, which was abused until he was nerfed. Or those who were unhooked with "anti-tunnel" BT just deliberately run right in the face of killer, so that he just wasted his time. And not even in a situation when a wounded teammate is nearby. Just think about it - survivor runs straight into the killer's face, not away from him, and then complains about tunneling. I've seen this many times. ) So why should killers do this gifts? Grow up at last and stop thinking that other people owe you something. You will get just as much fun as you earn with your own efforts. Yes, you can get a gift. But only if they themselves want it. But you DO NOT HAVE the RIGHT to demand this from others.

I play 50/50 on both sides for over 3000 hours. And I never require gens to do slower, or anything else. I play as well as I can without hoping that any of them will make the game easier for me. Because it's just plain stupid. Everyone wants pleasure for themselves first.

This is while I know playing a killer against competent survivors is much more difficult. The killers winrate is now provided only by the total unskilled of most of survivors. However, I never cry in the chat that the gens were turned on too quickly, that I got 4 DH, Unbreakable, Adrenaline, etc. And I never cry for a survivor if I lose. But if I play well on killer, I see whining in every second match. Simply because most of the players are children who cannot take responsibility for their own defeat and prefer to blame someone else for it.

    >Quite often you will find it full of "Camping/tunneling/trash killer comments".

Most good killer players will have comments like this. For the reason described above.

You're a strange guy, honestly. I have the right to demand anything I want. People can decide to do whatever they will. That's fine. My point may have gone over your head. I think everyone should be trying to make the game fun. I'm really not competing with a survivor when I play and I'm not competing with a killer when I play the other side. I'm sitting on my couch or at my desk doing something I find entertaining. When it stops being entertaining, I find something else to entertain myself with. I DO play more survivor than killer but when I play either side, I try to figure out how to make the game fun. The fact that the game has no real win condition makes that easier for me. I'm sure that there are times that survivors don't like my style as killer but I certainly don't want to be hooking someone out of a match without doing anything else just because I'm not creative enough to find a better way to play.

  • Yes to the in-game possible communication solutions but voice comms? HArd no. Those are hard to do in any game as far as I've seen. We have enough problems without them trying to implement that!

No, I don't. I choose to spread the love and try not to force anyone out of the game early. However, that is a choice I make on my own. I don't think other people should feel like they have to make that choice.

Also, I wasn't really going after YOU, but more going after the rather popular sentiment that Killers should just change how they play rather than demand the devs fix the game design issues. ANY other successful game would rework the core gameplay loop to deal with these kinds of issues. DbD is one of the few games I've ever seen where the community defends bad game design and instead just demands that people play it differently.

Sorry if you felt attacked. I mean that sincerely. I just want people to demand changes to the game design, not to how people play the game. It's nothing against you personally.

I agree that there should be some changes to the game design... I'm not a game designer so I'm not sure what they'd do. My thought is they should figure out what makes the game 'not fun' for people then adjust from there. It's tough because I am not a very competitive gamer. I'm not sure I'd be playing an asymmetrical game if I was, though.

Thanks, I wasn't trying to be too defensive, but yeah. I think it's valuable to remember that there are five people in each match looking for something. Hopefully, it's to have a good time with the entertainment we've chosen here. I think too often, people are choosing to make the other side suffer which is a weird thing to want to do.

I think killers should be looking at how to make the match fun for everyone playing.

No. That's the devs jobs via game design. It's not the players job. If a killer WANTS to do that, that's fine. They can play how they want. That said, they can play how they want. They have no reason or responsibility to do the devs jobs for them and tailor the experience of the Survivors. That lets the devs off the hook for bad game design. It's shifting the blame. So no. Killers shouldn't have to do that. Optional? Sure. Should? No.

Well, I did say "I THINK" so you know, I'm not saying they have to... Do you really have fun on those matches where you hook everyone and end the game as fast as possible?
