DBD is literally a growing game; it ain't dying any time soon.
-
Depends what you mean by 'best.'
Easiest to get high value out of? Freddy.
Highest potential? Pyramid Head.
Most fun? For stealth, it has to be GF, but otherwise, I'd say Bubba.
the fun part is definitely subjective, though.

Just because a streamer says it doesn't make it important.
He's someone actually giving suggestions that not only he himself came up with but us, his viewers, (bear in mind that he had around 6k viewers at the time) helped to formulate over quite a few hours. That he's condensed the main things he thinks need fixing, for BOTH sides, deserves recognition and I hope that the devs have or will view it and take at least some of the ideas for the next chapter.

Facecamping is fine and why because killers hate swf and every time gen rush happen especially to new players which is sad then they just tunnel and camp because they don't understand anything so you can't threat everyone the same and blame themselves to do that because it not easy to learn everything in one day and DS is use a lot in a abuse way not safe way and it boring and they complain they can't use ds because they been slug and especially when they don't have unbreakable and they still complaints about be slug so in the end survivor still complaints more than killers when they get everything they want when they don't deserves it. They deserves punishment like we the killers are dealing right now.
PSA: Gens being done fast is not 'genrushing.'

No, you'll still complain, as you do.

The whole reason for the change is solely because Pyramid head can fake it. Either you vault the window or the pallet and get hit with the ability, or you don't and he just m1s you immediately. You literally cannot win in loops with that. If survivors cannot do loops, they cannot win chases, period. Survivors are naturally on the losing side of chases anyway. They are slower than almost every killer, by default, and killers gain an ever-increasing speed buff the longer they are in chases. Pallets are used to put a blocker between you and a killer when they inevitably catch up, and widows are the same thing. If a killer can just completely ignore pallets and windows, then unless you're a complete moron, you will always win the chase.
I honestly wouldn't care about this stuff if they would change the way the evader emblem is awarded, and start granting points for not being seen all match. Sure, you should get more for being close and not chased, but as many times as I've run a killer for minutes on end, I STILL only end the match with silver evader. If the devs want to force more face-time with a killer, then yeah, they can't just hand them wins with chases. For that reason, a consistent lose/lose situation like what has been seen with Pyramid Head faking his ability to zone in (and yes, it's the exact same with Deathslinger and Huntress) can't happen. If we want the mind-games to be a strategy, then they have to be a risk/reward. In most of these PH situations, the survivor is the one mind-gaming by faking a window fault or a pallet flip, but there's no consequence for killers like PH because they are guaranteed the hit either way since they have no cd when faking their ability. PH, however, isn't mind-gaming by faking. He doensn't have to mind-game because he is pretty much guaranteed the hit either way. The only way he isn't is if he somehow can't aim at the animation-locked survivor in front of him. You can't even run into his avatar, because he can 360 with his sword.
Proper mind-game killers are those like Spirit, who can fake using her ability to make you think twice about what you're doing. She's not guaranteed the hit, though. Again, with PH, you can't do that. If you flip the pallet or vault the window, you're getting hit. If you mind-game, you're getting hit. If you avoid the pallets and windows, you're getting hit. If you avoid PH entirely, you're going to lose a rank, and when you're inevitably hit with the randomly-afflicted torment bug while working on a gen, you're revealed anyway, so you can't even simply avoid him by not being seen.
Oh yeah that bug where you randomly become tormented for literally no reason, that can happen wherever you are in relation to the killer and his trails, is so annoying. It's literally cost me my life in so many games it's unreal. There's a reason I just sit on gens and try to get the objective done ASAP if it's a PH, and that is one aspect of it.

I kinda feel like most survivors hate doctor because they can't hide from him, which most do now a days.
As killer of any kind I get nothing but five minute gen rushed games unless I play Doctor or bring anything on another killer that gives me info; so I can finally find these babies hiding all game.
So real question for you; are you annoyed by how you can't hide and only do gens or are you just sick of him laughing at you?
He's probably laughing because he knows you can't hide.
Ngl this sounds like a you problem. If your games are lasting 5 minutes due to 'genrush' consistently, then you are doing something very, very wrong.

They pip because high rank survivors don't play around facecamping properly
Yes, because they don't want to. They don't like that one person has to just sit on the hook for 2 minutes and they have to do all the gens, and 5 totems to avoid the inevitable noed during this time. Can't really fault them for avoiding doing the boring play; I've literally depipped off surviving because a killer was facecamping someone multiple times. It ain't fun and it ain't fair. It definitely isn't the main thing that needs to be dealt with at high level, however, but is a barrier to new players. Which the devs certainly seem to care about.

Fun fact, the devs also said "they would look into it" about iri head huntress among other things a few YEARS back. So good luck with that statement from them.
I remember a dev explicitly saying on their stream that the next patch that add-on was doneso, so I suspect there was an actual reason for the change not going through, whatever that was going to be.

It may not seem helpful to you - but there is a difference between "whataboutism" and "fairness". This is about fairness. You're asking for a solution to something that really isn't a big issue. People get get once or twice, and say it happens constantly. Other people say they get camped and have no idea what it means. Like tunneling.
I'm actually not personally asking for it, but this is 100% a case of whataboutism, and it's not helpful whatsoever.
There are already countless threads about the other topics in which devs have even responded and stated they're looking into most of them. People are allowed to ask for solutions to things they also feel are a big issue without being told 'what about this?'

@ClickyClicky said:
Its overrated. Undying is programmed to go first in the majority of cases too. I’d say 80%
Im not sure if they ever gave an explanation on how totems work but at this point I refuse to believe any explanation other than the totems in the game are just totems, no perks assigned. Then when one blows up it picks a perk to deactivate. This is the only explanation why on a 50/50 chance Undying is cleansed first in 80%+ of my games.
This combo has me curious though on how effective it is on killers with little map pressure. We all know survivors tend to sit on gens longer to try and finish it before it regresses. So on low map pressure killers does it actually encourage genrush rather than the opposite?
You're right that it actually encourages committing to gens (not genrushing) more, even if it means letting a teammate go second stage on first hook; witnessed that a bunch both as killer and survivor.
-
@Justalittlepeeck said:
- Rewards killers for active and smart gameplay like defending objectives or constantly moving around the map applying pressure
- Punishes killers for passive gameplay - 2+ perks wasted if killer tunnel visions someone or camps
- Creates a secondary, but not mandatory objective for survivors - you can do bones and do gens easier or forget about bones and have to finish generators in one touch.
- Makes games generally longer which gives more opportunity for everyone to have fun.
Let this stay, thanks. This combo isn't broken or overpowered, people are crying only because they don't want to adapt to it.
I don't think the combo in itself needs nerfing, but I do think that they should make it so that auras aren't shown when near or cleansing dull totems. If anything, remove the aura reading altogether and instead make it so that the totem replacement can be done 3 times at tier 3. We could go even further and just remove the RNG factor and just make it that until there are no more dulls the totems will keep getting replaced.
-
I have a slightly different experience to others; survivor queues are usually 1-5 minutes depending on the day, but as killer I'm normally waiting upward of around 10-15 minutes despite having crossplay on.

Improved graphics means diminishing stability. It's a fair complaint if before, you could run it but now cannot, despite having bought the game years ago.
That said, I like the new looks - I just hope that none of the new map updates will make them laggier, just like happened with Lery's, which for me is an unplayable map with a decent PC.

It's not whataboutism. It's a matter of priorities. Rather than working on something as subjective and nebulous as 'facecamping' - there are so many other issues that could be worked on.
This right here is the toxic little loop that exists right now where essentially, killers are always expected to pay the price for the fun of survivors.
Both roles are expected to pay the price for the fun of the other role, and it's an endless cycle that leads to toxicity on both ends. And yes, it is whataboutism. Just because there are OTHER problems, that doesn't mean that the topic of the OP isn't on in itself. It certainly is an issue that is a barrier for newer players, and makes for boring/unfun matches at high level, too.

Cruel Limits won't still be used and Mindbreaker, depends on how much they increase the Exhausted Effect but even if it was 10 Seconds, the 50 % requirement makes the Perk very meh. They should've reworked those Perks completely.
I even suggested a Mindbreaker Change once.
Mindbreaker:
- After hooking a Survivor, all Generators which are currently not being worked on will start regressing at the normal regression rate.
- Survivors who touch a regressing Generator will be afflicted with the Exhausted Status Effect for 4/5/6 Seconds.
And yeah, Cruel should probably block Windows around the Killer instead of around completed Gens for a longer duration. It only activates 5 Times so it should be something strong then.
The only reason why I don't agree with the idea of Cruel Limits being around the killer is that it punishes a survivor that is in chase with the killer, for being chased. I do like your suggestion for Mindbreaker, though.

Shrug.
As long as we first get rid of:
- Red rank survivors queueing with a deranked/smurf account buddy to ensure they can stomp a lowbie killer.
- Teabagging and flashspam.
- Survivors being able to change character/item just before match starts to stop a killer from countering them.
- Keys.
- Instaheals.
- Offensive DS play.
- Haddonfield.
- Spinechill working on undetectable killers.
- OoO in SWF groups.
Then we can talk about facecamping.
Maybe.
Whataboutism isn't in any way helpful, tbh. No reason why most of those can't be looked at.
I will say, though, the only instaheals that exist in this game iare For the People and Adrenaline, both of which are earned. Teabagging and flashlight spamming don't make the game unplayable, either. They're just toxic. And honestly, Spine Chill is fine where it is. The rest, though, definitely issues. Let's also add Moris to the list, though. :)

I don't think it would make him broken, but it would make his portals a bit less situational, which is great imo, however it shouldn't be permanent as long as they're on it; just as they walk over it for the first second or two.

Yeah, that's very true! The Ghostface PTB was the first ever instance that gave me hope for the dev team; how they took on the feedback to make him actually playable.

Run Kindred. It's should be a signal for your teammates to do gens. You will probably die, but other 3 survivors get out easily if they not stupid to try to save you. You can be saved with Borrowed time but Killer just get another survivor in exchange and keep facecamping. Or he may try to tunnel you. Both scenarios are not good for your team.
If he played normally and facecamp only after gens done you can't really blame him. He doesn't need to check gens anymore and checking gates while everyone healthy without noed is a losing guaranteed 1k.
Anyway facecamper is a rare type of killer because he always lose and stay on low ranks.
Clearly you haven't played much at rank 1 if you think facecamping killers only stay at low ranks lmao.

Billy's overheat is an absolute non factor tbh. I've played him at least a dozen times since the changes dropped and I have yet to overheat my chainsaw, even when it feels like I'm using it heavily. I feel like you'd basically have to be trying to overheat it to manage it, or facecamping with chainsaw raised. His add-ons were definitely nerfed, but I think that was the intention. His charge time reduction add-ons were extremely strong before.
At least wait for the PTB before complaining about something that hasn't happened yet.
To be fair, the first iteration of the overheat mechanic meant that he basically couldn't use his chainsaw at all. I do think it's fair now, however.

I was never a big fan of DC penalties but gee...... I was just in a match where 3 players DC'ed and then I went to work on a gen(lol) The killer found me (surprise!) and downed me(uh oh) then he hit the air a few tines, picked me up let me wiggle(I think he enjoyed that the most ☺️) Then when I escaped his grasp he DC'ed. Lol....weeee...that was fun!
Now its my opinion the DC punishment is direct from THe Entity punishing those who refuse to play her games. They cant connect to new ones cause they are being tortured for x amount of time. She sick of this #########! 😇
Got my Shape to P2-50 so I decided today to try 8 times for evil incarnate. Every last time when it was down to me and one last time they would just try to spite me by going into lockers. Some maps I couldn't do anything about it, but on maps where I outplayed them in dropping them in places where there was no locker nearby, I had them DC in the middle of the final Tombstone, ending the game before it counted as a 4th Tombstone kill. Was super frustrating, but honestly I think that was an issue of bad game design over 'DC penalties should be enabled.' But man would it have been nice. After one survivor tried to make my life hell with it, I decided I'd keep them on the floor, wasting their time until they bled out or egc got them. Managed to cap it out at 5 minutes. I'd normally be the first person to attack someone for that, but my god these people were being so toxic.
DC penalties I'm not sure would have even stopped that; people on both roles love to spite the other in this way, even to their own detriment.

Yeah, I don't think there's any question he's very strong right now. Strong is fine, though, provided chases are interactive and both sides have ample opportunity to let their skill shine through. I really enjoy playing against Huntresses and Nurses, for example, even though both are strong, because there's ample opportunity to extend chases with good play. Hopefully Pyramid Head can get there too.
Hard agree, tbh. I love playing against a good huntress. It's such a hard game and there are so many mindgames to it; I usually learn something from them. PH? Nah. Spam M2 and profit. Easier to pull off than the stand still 2 win aspect of Spirit.

Iridescent Blight Tag and Alchemist's Ring is my favourite combo in the game right now. Toxic SWF keep thinking they're making me mess up my slams when in reality I'm trying to get my one hit down. And then I can chain off it if it's not a trash map like the Game. So fun!

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/194162/is-anyone-having-fun-as-killer-anymore
I think that "stress" is what makes killer engaging and fun to play even if people complain about it. It's the same as playing an intense 1v1 Starcraft match where you're being harassed in your mineral lines - while worrying about a 12 minute timing push because your scout got denied, etc etc. It's literally the only engaging thing about this game when I want to have a focused "game". I can (and do) literally play survivor with youtube/netflix running on my other monitor and still tend to 1~2 pip + escape as solo queue survivor using Bond, DS, Dead Hard + Whatever random perk like We're Gonna Live Forever or Soul Guard. Heck I even meme around on survivor half the time and still get reasonable gen time, rescues, chases and escapes using builds like Bond Open-Handed, No One Left Behind, Hope because most killers are just taking it easy and playing like 1 dimensional bots.
The learning curve is steeper on the killer side for sure but it's more rewarding for that reason too - anyone who likes skill based games tends to enjoy that aspect of playing killer. Survivor has the lower skill floor and ceiling - but most people can't get off the floor so it's hard for the balance teams to get around to it. On the other hand this attracts a lot of the older gamers who aren't too keen at twitch-aim games like Valorant or Apex Legends so there are pros and cons
I'd argue survivor has a higher skill floor, while killer has higher skill ceiling.

OoO should get reworked, it's really game breaking against good swf.
And maaybe spine chill for stealthy killers, idk.
Honestly I think the easiest way to deal with it in this manner would be to have the DS timer go down at double speed if they're working on the objective, but if they're in chase within the first 10-15 seconds after being unhooked have it slow down until they've dropped chase for 5 seconds or something. Makes it actually anti-tunneling. But a lot of constraints.

You say they listen to feedback but only one sides feedback is being implemented. There is plenty on the survivor side that makes the low tier killers not fun to play, exhaustion perks and bad map design for example leading to long chases that take no skill on the survivor side.
When I quoted Otz I was referring to the part about PH disappearing. He thinks that might happen. Also yeah A tier is strong but not super oppressive.
Yes, that's exactly why they removed infinites and reworked entire maps, even making some of them SMALLER in order to make it easier for killers to actually apply map pressure. Yep, only survivors being listened to, 100%.

Stop with the needless killer main/survivor main tribalism, they of course listen to everyone's feedback. BHVR has every incentive to make both survivor and killer fun to play, and to make the game balanced overall. They obviously would not get there by only taking feedback from the survivor side.
PH is currently fun enough as killer, but miserable to play against as survivor unless the killer is a potato. Zoning is a lose/lose, so all you can do is hope the killer is bad. That is why they are getting negative feedback from survivor. The feedback was justified, and Behaviour was right to listen to it as they should all feedback.
The problem is, and has always been, the lack of counterplay to zoning. The problem is not his strength, so the solution is not making him weaker. Their proposed solution is to increase counterplay to zoning while buffing POTD so as to make it feel less punishing and to balance out the other nerf. That is a perfect solution in theory, and we don't even have numbers on the changes yet. Just play the PTB in two days, keep an open mind, and submit feedback if it's bad. Easy.
Also
"I don't understand why he needs a nerf he was neither strong nor weak he was an average killer and with this he will simply become a killer trash and we will stop seeing him in games"
"That's what Otz thinks too. PH is already rare and will disappear."
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/C6YWKWD4B5OG/image.png
?
It would also be interesting if we look at Dowsey's tier list, where he places PH similarly to Otz but also states he's S tier in a sweaty tournament setting, which he's also shown a bunch in practise, too.

killers would hook someone go get someone else and then still have remaining time on pgtw to use it on a gen. reducing the time period to use it but keeping it at a high enough time to still be used even when across the map as a slow killer like huntress. You will have to put the gen over the survivor but thats fine and imo its a better option since the gen will regress more and if its highly progressed and you kick it you might find that it has been worked on later.
this is just a straight nerf however this perk is still really good and imo the minute you had to kick a gen was very generous. i know that i will at least still use this perk on the majority of my killers.
I remember getting good use out of it when it was 30 seconds, but felt at the time that it wasn't quite long enough to be viable on most killers. 45 is most certainly a generous compromise, imo.

Oh yes, I remember that well. Very busted mechanic. You only had to wiggle what 40%? So if you weren't right on a hook when downed, a single bodyblock hit meant you got to use the perk. Wasn't fair one bit and had zero counter.

I don’t think you know old DS, and are just parroting something you read. DS could be used when you wanted it before, you could use it after first hook, after 2nd hook. There was no timer. If you’d like to go back to that, and having to dribble survivors, be my guest
God I remember that. If I played killer every game I had to put up with DS and dribble to avoid getting hit by it, wasting a ton of time. Meanwhile as survivor, I never run it until long after it's rework and even then only use it in periods where I feel killer tunnel like crazy (and even then avoid using it) and honestly? I remember how bad tunneling was back then. DS is definitely stronger now, but it also has much more counterplay.

From my understanding that isn’t possible unless the survivor has OoO. Which in that case it is working as intended.
I actually think he is a lot of fun, and maybe it is because I main him that it has given me an understanding of how to run him. Which is why I say people need to stop running him like he is an M1 killer. You have to be ready to zone yourself out, fake pallet drops or windows and not get greedy at loops. Because that last one is people’s main complaint. Which is weird cuz you and I know that if you get too greedy and drop a pallet while a Huntress is holding her hatchet you will get hit no matter what. It is the same concept with PH, and yet no one complains about Huntress being able to do that.
Whenever I play him I look toward the opposite end of the map when caging and see their aura rise up from the floor until they're inside the cage. I don't like to play him much, though.
As for chase with him? Nah, there isn't much you can do. If you drop the pallet, you get hit; if you fake dropping, you get hit. If you vault, you get hit, if you fake vaulting you get hit, if you fake not vaulting and then vault, you get hit. It's all pretty monotonous. He's just another killer that forces survivors to play W simulator as he essentially disregards skill. The only saving grace, similar to that of Deathslinger, is that he's not hypermobile like a bunch of other killers, so you can just play M1 simulator to get out as soon as possible. If I'm playing survivor and it's one of those two killers, you know damn well I'm going to be as efficient as possible because I want out ASAP since it's boring as #########.
As for huntress...not really. Their are a ton of mindgames to be done. Of course, if it's a Scott Jund level huntress, it can feel helpless if it's not one of her terrible maps, but most maps it's pretty easy to avoid getting hit with hatchets, even with dedicated hits being so common.

Really even puppers and tofu and monto say that so don't tell me it never happen to you because they are good and better than us so again for sure it happen to you or unless you don't play killers.
There are definitely times when survivors spawn separately, which is the worst case scenario for a killer, and 3 gens will pop in the first minute even if your first chase only lasted 20 seconds. This video is not an example of that, however. And honestly, that's an issue of spawning and the reason why perks like Corrupt Intervention (which almost always nets the killer a 3-4k if they're competent) exist.
Also you clearly didn't watch Tofu's most recent video on the topic of genrushing lmao

When a single survivor can have insane amount of info without having to do anything they can share that with other survivors, which is why you only see OoO in swf groups. All of those perks you listed aren't even comparable to OoO
Nurses survivors have to be healing within a certain range of you
I'm All ears is just used for mindgaming not for tracking
Whispers only gives you the general area of survivors doesn't tell you how many in an area, where they are, etc
Infectious you need to get a down, have people in your tr, and hope they don't have calm spirit or are in a locker
Undying is only within a small range of a totem for a couple seconds and if your not paying attention or in a chase you can easily miss it
BBQ requires you to hook someone, it only shows the aura of people 40+ meters away and you can easily go into a locker or hide behind a gen to avoid it. (Also why the hell do survivor mains hate bbq it legit encourages killers to not camp)
Blight only has one addon that is tracking and it's getting gutted so you obviously have been living under a rock recently
Another case of whataboutism in the dbd community
In fairness, Undying, Infectious and Compound Twenty One are big issues (Hence the nerf the aforementioned add-on is receiving) but OoO is just ridiculous.

Yep. Played 5 killer games. 3 had an object.
And in general I've seen much more object of obsession users since crossplay. Maybe it's related, maybe it isn't. Still is annoying though.
Most of them do tend to be console players in sweat squads, I've noticed. Sometimes it's just a duo, though and that's not so bad; just a minor nuisance.

It's free info on the killer's location for your entire team at all times with no real downside.
Everybody knows who you are at the start of the trial, so they know how to play against you. Legion or Myers? Don't group. Ghostface? Keep an eye out.
If you're playing Hag, Trapper, Huntress, Deathslinger, or Freddy, you'd may as well Alt-F4 right then and there.
You can't make rotations without the entire survivor team knowing about it, so you'll never catch people off guard.
It's also a giant neon sign that says "HEY IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW, WE'RE IN A SWF", which doesn't exactly make people happy.
For all this, the only downside is that the killer knows where you are...
...on a generator across the map. What a surprise.
I would argue that despite it feeling like an exceptionally hard counter to Freddy, that a good Freddy can work around it. If I ever use an add-on, it's the common blindness one just in case I come across Object, but I don't normally. And I managed to beat out 4 mans on maps like wretched shop before the infinites got removed. Don't get me wrong, it makes you sweat, but it feels so good knowing that you outplayed someone who is blatantly being cocky doing a gen in front of your face with sprint burst at the ready to go straight to the infinite.

If all 4 survivors know exactly where you are at every moment, then it removes the element of surprise which for a killer is very important. Even stealth killers are messed up by it, and therein lies the problem: they can't fulfill their niche.
Also I've legitimately had 10 games vs Object today and they've been so painful. I won most of them, but it was frustrating. One of those games the stack all had sprint burst and I was playing Bubba, which was super fun. One of them was salty that I got a 2k despite their hyper efficiency, which is another thing:
Object allows a team of survivors to be hyper efficient.
Also you should try playing vs object users on Midwich. I've played using that perk and gotten that map and honestly felt so bad for the killer. Luckily for them, I only ever duo and actually try to have fun.

Hawkins became massively laggy for me; dropped from a solid 60 to around 30 FPS. Before this, the rework of Lery's caused a similar issue which simply has not been addressed by the devs, at all. It's actually disheartening.
Kicking gens also does it to me now. As does being hit if the killer has Sloppy Butcher; in fact, if I'm in a game and the killer applies sloppy to someone else, I will lag out. LMAO.

i remember like 1 year ago killers and survivors where more skilled at red ranks, now it's just tunneling, facecamping with a mori, or survivors who don't loop the pallets or farm their teammates 6/10 games
Honestly the number of killers I go against that I think are brown ranks, that turn out to be rank 1, is astounding...but then my teammates almost always seem to be green rank and immersed as all hell, so no wonder they're ranking up, eh?

I think he'll be just like Oni. Popular on PC, but awful on Console.
I haven't seen a Console Oni in months.
As a PC player I've come across two really good red rank Oni players that are console. They were really fun games, too. IMO, if my team isn't full-on potato, a good Oni tends to make the most fun games for me. He's also my favourite to play, so go figure.

lol the kid plays once a month before his rent is due.
1 stream makes him enough for rent, food, gas, and a ton of other stuff, the reason why he's also forced to stream because Twitch threatens to end your partnership if you don't stream a certain amount in a month.
Watch good, consistent streamers like OhTofu, Monto, Puppers, ones that give a ######### about their community and fanbase.
The guy only doesn't stream or upload so much because of his mental health, not because he doesn't want to; he simply lacks the motivation, which many of us can relate to. No need to make such an unfounded attack.
