Why do killers seem to act like every game they are in is against the sweatiest, tournament level swf on earth? What if there was an indication when people were indeed playing together, then you can unclench your butt cheeks in the other games and everybody can be less salty all the time.

Hardly any games, are we going against swat teams, but it's easy to make excuses.

Any high rank survivors get a kick out of bad killers that knod when they finally catch you because you have a bad group of randoms that either don't do gens or rush to save and do terribly at it? I get a lot of these killers and its usually funny but sometimes also annoying because they've gotten the satisfaction of a 4k despite being some of the worst or most average skilled killers there are. Yet they win due to bad mistakes on the survivor's part and the ridiculous amounts of dead zones on reworked maps

Yes, this is a really common occurrence. When it's an obviously bad killer that took 5+ minutes to catch me they're so proud of themselves...and then I'm shocked to find out they're red rank. They will obviously proceed to tunnel me out of the game as hard as they can.

  • image.png

Same rock, in another instance. It didn't block the gen from being done on any side, but you can't move through it.

Maybe you're right, but from my experience it seems like there is a tracking device to determine your current skill. I play for skill, and I no longer feel like the odds are against me because of all those cheap easy kills I was getting.

Still barely in green ranks, but I play against ONLY red and some purple players because (not to brag) I'm relying on skill. I don't mind this, because other green ranks or lower are too easy.

I also try to only play skill heavy killers, currently the twins.

Idk, but twins feel like they require actual skill to get kills. Standard m1 killer with a Victor that can be easily dodged by circling trees.

When I was green rank, long before MMR was tested, the same thing happened. It seems to be a normal occurrence at that.

This likely forced you to adapt so that you find those games pretty easy; I'm the same with purple and below since I'm so used to playing in top ranks.

I didn't know you were a developer for BHVR. Lol.

    Yeah, you're totally wrong.

    "Nice try"

There is no MMR algorithm implemented right now. They enabled it and disabled it within a few days because it was ruining the game for everyone, new and old players alike.

Also, less loading screen disconnecting cowards.

Y'all would dc just because of a secret offering that could've been a yellow mori, or separation.

Now you don't have an EXCUSE to dc during loading screen.

Ngl, I've had my game literally crash aplenty in the loading screen when ebony moris have been used. It's an interesting bug.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

Why did it get the range increase instead of fixing the issue with it functioning correctly to reduce the rarity of items?!

Why would they change it like that?!

Or could they not fix it properly, so it gets a range increase instead?

If they couldn’t find a way to fix it, then how come they’ve been able to get Plunderer’s Instinct to work as intended for all these years?

I just assumed they couldn't fix it quickly enough so changed it's functionality instead.

  • @Orion said:

Alright, they're worthless offerings now. GG.

They still allow you to circumvent DS if you didn't tunnel them the first time. Not worthless at all.

  • True, making toolboxes have so few charges made BNP's viable, which imo is a very healthy way of making once broken add-ons viable.

  • I agree. It used to be pretty bad, but they got better...and then worse again, which made it really easy to be angry. I'm glad they've recognised an official statement was necessary.

Have we had any actual confirmation on that? Seems nonsensical to add language indicating that the perk resets once used, as every perk that works similarly does so. Also the fact that it says deactivates instead of reset.

I'm absolutely willing to believe you're correct, just wondering if anyone official has chimed in on it.

Also, isn't the flip flop lack of synergy listed in the known bugs section of the patch notes, implying that it IS meant to be able to be used that way?

Someone above claims that Almo has stated this, IDK if that's true, since I haven't seen it myself but I see no reason for them to lie.

I agree it's a bit of a weird wording, but if you read the description, it does say 'activates' and 'deactivates' implying that you can keep activating it so long as the conditions are met. I was unsure at first, too, however, as the descriptions to tend to be inconsistent with what actually happens.

Edit: I just double checked with DS, for example, and that doesn't say it deactivates, but that it disables upon use.

  • @Callmehandsome said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1803725#Comment_1803725

Some perks can never be as strong as DS no matter how much you buff them. Thank god DS is getting slight nerf to remove abusable side of it though. But i agree with you that devs keep releasing trash tier perks for both sides. If you look at survivor side for example why wouldn't you run Deadhard and DS? they are multiple levels above other survivor perks. Some perks need simple number buffs to make them more viable and it should be easy to do.

I agree. That said, I don't expect new perks to be as strong as DS and DH; just viable, which removing the advantage of running Flip Flop with Power Struggle removed; it's now just a wasted perk build when you could just run Plunderer's Instinct with Appraisal, or even use Deception by itself to fool killers in niche situations...or, as you say, DS and DH, which are the strongest perks in the game for survivors.

That said, the new perk Coup De Grace is a killer's version of Dead Hard but with limited uses. I've had it erase so many successful mindgames that caused a killer to swing and been able to swing through Dead Hard without having to think about it as a result of the extended lunge.

  • @SweetTerror said:

The Twins unfortunately won't be fully fixed until the next mid-chapter update, but there are a plethora of killers that are bugged right now that I would like to play. For obvious reasons I'm holding off until the hot fixes are applied, because as much as I want to play, my desire to not want to have to endure a buggy game is even greater.

Have the devs announced an ETA?

This, tbh. i keep thinking I'll go play some killer, and then I remember a bunch of them are bugged and I don't know which ones aren't...

  • @finitethrills said:

It's supposed to only work once. Currently, it has unlimited uses.

No, it's not. The wording is a bit confusing, but basically the 'once used, it deactivates' refers to the fact you have to get the wiggle bar back up to use/activate it again.

This perk is 100% intended to be useable multiple times in a match, however it would be insanely rare to get even one use out of it.

@Callmehandsome this doesn't work anymore; they specifically added a delay after being picked up so that you couldn't instantly save yourself when using Flip Flop. Which, honestly, I think was the wrong call, since it was already going to be incredibly niche to run that combination of perks, and frankly having a reason to run off meta would give a ton of killers a lot of slack in that they'd have to deal with aggressive DS uses a bit less.

  • Funny thing is that the extra add-ons are pretty useless on medkits and flashlights.

I do hope their add-on pass continues on for items, too. If only to make a standard.

it doesnt matter to YOU. as a gay man myself, id like to see someone that i can relate to in a game i like

is it required? not really, but having someone i can relate to just feels nicer. this is why people were crying tears of joy when Elodie was released, since to a lot of people that was the first character in a game that represented them in a game.

This. The number of content creators I saw literally in tears over her made my heart warm.

If people in media and videogames can do their part to make that happen for more people, is that really problematic? Of course not. But certain groups want those of us that are not of their norm buried away where they don't have to recognise we exist.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/211622/gotta-love-getting-pounced-by-victor-while-in-a-locker

Have you played AS the twins?

Victor is EASILY dodged and stomped.

New killers come with a learning curve for both sides.

Also, devs want to implement a mechanic where Victor holds locker doors shut instead of hitting through them. Twins aren't finished.

No, he isn't easily dodged and crushed at all.

In fact, even if the killer is bad enough to ######### up, it doesn't matter, because a matter of seconds later and they have him back.

  • This is the thing: it's even, but it appears that survivors are worse because in a game there are 4 survivors to one killer, so you're bound to witness more toxicity and scummy plays from one side.

If you mean in terms of abusing what they're able to do, however, my experience is that, as killer, maybe 1 in about 20 games with a team with DS UB use it for invincibility in an obnoxious manner, but more than half of killers I come across will tunnel people out of existence ASAP when 5 gens are still yet to be done. (legit, the number of times I've been literally facecamped, as in killer's face against my hooked body, this week, is insane)

  • @Punisher2001 said:

Have you considered the fact that pallets are actually completely unfair for killers? I mean, I never expect survivors to understand the plight of the common killer, but a completely empty map (though still survivor-sided) is the closest thing we'll ever get to a fair map. And don't even get me started on swf

Helpful and relevant, 100%. Well done.

  • I've had it happen a bunch of times in the past. I think it's a server issue. Also had it where I was legion in FF and someone tried to spin me, I corrected myself for it appropriately and end the M1 directly on them, for my camera to randomly pan away from them, multiple times in one match. I lost that game for this BS lol.

    This OP was...interesting, though...

  • @TotemsCleanser said:

My only question is why tf did the patch notes not mention anything about this??? Or did I accidentally skip it when I read them??? Because I don't mind them implementing changes in the game but I would rather be informed by the patch notes instead of discovering it myself in the middle of a match.

You didn't skip it; there was no mention in the patch notes. Bhvr is amazing at putting out incomplete patchnotes. In fact, half their devs don't even seem to be aware of what's in a patch (one on stream had to literally go through them after the DLC released...)

At best, it's just plain old poor communication, which should be easy to fix.

  • I mean...did they even try with this killer? So many oversights, it's unreal.

Imagine not having Victor chases count as chases, for example.

  • @Atacus7 said:

Twice now, playing as survivor, when I'm about to vault a window, the game freezes me in place just before the vault animation starts leaving me completely vulnerable to the killer. This also happened once during escape, when I was at the threshold of crossing into safety, I was healed by the other survivors who then left, but I literally couldn't move. Killer came and hooked me. Amazing!

I had this happen the other day when I'd been facecamped by a pig who was tunneling me without BT up; I went into the main building on Ironworks and tried to vault, but there was no option to do so and I was just stuck against the window.

  • I literally never run it, and scummy killers regularly punish me for it, but joke's on them; I still survive the majority of the time.

  • @TheRockstarKnight said:

Aapparently, it does actually - a Doctor player brought it up on the List of bugs 2: Electric Boogaloo thread. Their static blast wouldn't make Elodies audibly scream.

I guess I've just gotten really lucky as Killer and never bumped into it.

What a weirdly inconsistent bug...maybe it's because things didn't install correctly for some, as we all know well how bad this game is when it comes to stability in its updates. I know multiple people who after every update have to verify integrity of the game files or they get kicked by EAC every time without fail.

  • How are we defining genrushing here? Because is all survivors spawn split up and the 3 not being pressured do the generator nearest to them, that's not rushing. It's doing their objective.

  • @TheRockstarKnight said:

I don't play as or own her, and I've only noticed it as Survivor with other teammates who are Elodie, never as Killer.

Had a friend finally say they couldn't hear my scream lol. Weird. The other friend could, but one consistently did not hear her at all.

Strange it doesn't affect killer perspective.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1797266#Comment_1797266

I think in many cases it only affects other players and not the Elodie player themselves. A friend asked me why I never screamed and I definitely heard the infectious fright screams from my Elodie..

But my friend always plays her too, and I always hear her screams from him. When he plays Felix, however...

  • @TheRockstarKnight said:

I've noticed this playing with Elodie's too - they get hit or shocked by Doctor and stay totally silent, no Calm Spirit required.

I've played Elodie a ton and not noticed any bugs with regard to her screams.

  • @Orion said:

Swing at the air in the survivors' direction (from far away), hit generators when survivors are nearby. Note that not all survivors will want to farm, however.

Not even that; many survivors will likely not trust it's genuine, given how common it is in bloodhunts for killers to fake farming to get a free 4k.

  • I don't think it's needed, tbh. I think it's a great feel-good perk, although I think it should max out with the same % at 3/4 tokens, so that it doesn't feel like a perk you need to let yourself lose in order to make it work.

  • It says in the description that it shouldn't work, but it has worked the entire time. Idk if they forgot to turn off the add-on or what, tbh.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/210875/twins-slugging

Exactly. I’ve literally been saying that I hate versing the twins now. At first it was fine, then everybody who uses the twins started just slugging, camping, and tunneling. Now i hate versing the twins. It’s not fun at all. If you kick victor it should take him like 40 or 50 seconds to become available again, not 8 seconds or whatever it is. It’s like it literally doesn’t even matter if somebody kicks him because you get him back seconds later.

If anything, kicking victor just helps the killer since it brings him closer to Charlotte.

  • @Jasonisanicefella said:

Let me start with prefacing I had enjoyed the twins in the PTB, the idea was cool and refreshing.

That said, after versing them quite often since release, I am really starting to hate them.

Pretty much 95% of the competent killers at red ranks go for a slug fest. There are so many games where you end up with 2-3 and even 4 people slugged.

This is NOT fun at all from a survivor perspective. It is even worse than being camped as it completely ruins a players experience.

Tofu and Scott also made videos to discuss this.

I think something needs to be done, I don't care about winning in DBD but I care about having fun and being slugged is the antithesis of fun.

    Please help us Devs

    @Almo @Peanits @not_Queen

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snNWS3q-grM&ab_channel=OhTofu

As well as this, they are very good at camping and tunneling, so there's two problematic playstyles in one.

Also the fact that the killer isn't punished for messing up and getting Victor crushed; and it's not hard to spread the pain with him, either.

  • 100% but don't expect any changes to fix this.

  • Love all of these ideas tbh.

Blood Favour either needs to be much better or not be a hex, for sure.

  • @Unseen_Force said:

I think her traps are cool but overall not really a threat and are pretty easy to counter

Her traps aren't meant to be a threat; they're just intended as built-in map pressure. It's about making survivors waste time getting them off.

As for the OP, not really sure how they could change her power to work better as a stealth killer; I would say that she should maybe be a bit faster while crouching, however I don't know what they should do about her ambush. I don't think making it silent would be a good move.

  • @Angelicus23 said:

Killers have their rages too, like "you cant genrush you pice of ######### I want to have fun" like ok I wait until I have 3 crows to start repairing?

They most of the time tell me to "get covid, infect my family and die"

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2JREXINASKVP/img-20201204-184525.png

Context, a doctor attempted to appear friendly until the end, facecamped me with noed while nodding, I got rescued and I DSed him, then I waited for his lunge to deadhard while I was stopped in the gates and scape.

Other day had a Twins player facecamp me in the basement (literally staring me in the face and repeatedly hitting me) because I had the audacity to do a generator they could hear and didn't bother to pressure. A teammate got me off with BT and they rage quit when I lost them, going on to rage even worse than that, about genrushing, sweaty SWFs and the like. There was no genrushing; (no toolboxes at all in the lobby) they simply didn't use their power to exert the ridiculous map pressure that killer is capable of. They legit expected us to stare at the wall as we spawned and let them get a free 4k for their adept achievement. :) So many killer mains are like this, and it's dire. As someone who plays both sides, I actually consider the fun of both roles because I don't want to perpetuate it and put up with that ######### as either role.

  • @Axe said:

You know its a good reason why most players with 2K-4K hours on steam have mostly -reps

    "-rep camper with 5000 hours"

"-rep wow 4000 hours and you still camp?"

"-rep tunnel off hook, Spirit with 3k hours btw."

Its because they dont give a ######### how survivors feel :) we play to win and not be treated as some sort of puppet

Ngl, if they need to camp that and tunnel that regularly, they aren't good players.

Victor’s pounce is slow, clunky, limited, and bugged to hell. Dodging it is incredibly easy.

But I guess you feel that way because you don’t know how to put yourself in front of debris.

I take it you haven't bothered to play both roles, then. It's insanely easy to hit; debris doesn't work anymore since it came to live because of his speed increase while charging his pounce.

  • It feels horrible to play as both roles, tbh.

  • @Demogordon_Ramsay said:

Victor pounces. I don’t think I need to say anything more. The existence of Killers like Huntress and Slinger means there’s a lot of cool, fun stuff to be done there. And I’m willing to learn that cool, fun stuff.

But it honestly feels like the game doesn’t want me to.

Let me explain. Imagine you want to practice a Killer with a special ranged attack. You don’t want to win, or get bloodpoints, or anything, you just want to improve your use with that special ability. So you go into a match to practice, and at some point, you miss your ability. What happens?

If you miss a hatchet, recover and try again.

If you miss a blink, recover and try again.

If you miss a spear, reload and try again.

If you miss a Punishment of the Damned, recover and try again.

If you miss a pounce? Get kicked in the face, respawn as Charlotte, wait for Victor to come back, unbind Victor, find a Survivor, and try again.

    You see the problem?

More than any other Killer, Victor gets punished for using his ability like mad. Not only does it result in strongly discouraging players from attempting risky, big brain, game-changing pounces, but it makes practicing pouncing at all absolutely miserable. Victor is so incredibly discouraged to do anything other than go for safe, easy pounces that are boring, unintuitive, and unsatisfying. Because if he tries anything and misses? He ######### DIES.

Something needs to be done about how punishable a pounce is. Everything that isn’t borderline guaranteed is a massive risk that could lose the chase and even the game if you mess up. It’s incredibly unfun and frustrating.

Victor moves at 150% speed and it's incredibly easy to secure a hit with him. If you miss, it's you being bad.

In fact, getting crushed on missing or hitting a shot with him, isn't even as punishing as it should be - he has a freaking 8 second cooldown, which is far too quick for how easy he is to use.

  • Power struggle is a meme perk that had it's one viable use removed, which ironically required running an entire build surrounding the idea of using it and having other survivors waste time so they could get some recovery in, meaning survivors being suboptimal and not running perks like DS and adrenaline, which killer mains couldn't complain a game had those.

  • Ngl, I find Legion fun to play against; The Twins are frustrating to go against, but only because in buffing Victor's speed when charging, they overdid it with the numbers. He needed an increase to that speed, but it was too much, removing counterplay. And if the killer ######### up and he gets crushed as a result of missing a lung,so what? He's back in only 8 seconds, which is ridiculously fast recovery from a ######### up with their power which isn't even difficult to use right now.

  • No, Pharmacy makes Pharmacy look garbage.

  • @Mandy said:

It doesn't affect Victor no, because the Exposed status effects is only on basic attacks and he's considered to be the killers power.

But if the player is using Victor and in the correct range for the perk, would it activate, or does it only go off the distance to Charlotte?

I think it's because any streamer can get salty and say "sTrEaMsNiPeR". Maybe if they had actual proof, it'd be bannable.

I get that, but it's usually obvious from the stream of the game itself. Seems a bit odd to rule it out as completely unbannable, even in cases where its obvious or the person admits it in postgame chat.

Wait, streamsniping isn't bannable? That's literally cheating...

As for this post: imagine being mad a killer was able to bodyblock you from a pallet...??? Take better pathing, bro.

  • The incessant amount of hard camping and tunneling from Twins players.

The bugs making some killers basically not have a power.

I love the map reworks though; the blizzard effect, both sound and visually, on Ormond is great, and the Autohavens are so characteristically dark. I love them.
