Yes, yes, why killers even have perks? Like why do they even need weapon? Just remove it, let survivors just do gens, whats wrong? Or why do survivors go on foot, like give them a motorcycle, games will be faster
(/_-)
Killers have perks to add four unique advantages to better suite their playstyle. They need a weapon to put survivors in the dying state and sacrifice them to the entity.
Can we talk about hook grabs now?
-
I can pull my killer credentials if y’all think I’m being too biased.
I think two health states at a hook is too much incentive for killers that the game goes bad for. But if a grab is whats important to you, then keep the grab but it works like windows.
Survivors have to be injured to get the grab animation. This waiting in front of hooks needs less advantages.
@SkeletalElite said:
I agree with this, if the survivor is healthy you can still down them because of the amount of time it takes to unhook, you can still guarantee trades easily, but you're not playing a game of chicken to decide whether or not you trade or just lose everything anymore.
Exactly. Maybe the other players in here play killer a lot and never used this standoff.

I gg every game. Unless I really really got torn down. Then I’m leaving to get into another match asap to salvage my ego haha

This is a terrible idea. To screw 95% of the population because a few campers or tunnelers can get hook grabs. They only get the hook grabs because your either not baiting the hit out or your doing it front of a camper. Either way this is not in the community problem. It's a poor decision on your part, but you want to remove it because of your faults.
Are you upset about the Leatherface changes? Because that’s exactly the advantages they removed from him. Charge time reduction add ons and holding M2 forever are both gone.
That was 95% of the population not doing that too. I’m not arguing for an always safe unhook. Just the instadown grab.
-
Okay, keep all grabs. But make it work like window grabs. Window grabs can only be made when the survivor is in injured state.
Also I can pull my killer credentials for anyone if they want.
I think getting an instadown at hooks encourages stand offs rather than action. Action is what makes the game fun for both sides. Chases; not standoffs.

There should maybe be number-of-posts restrictions before getting access to New Threads. Like two hundred.
Or have an active account for a week or twelve.

I feel like killers would need something else to compensate, otherwise people could still get the unhook whilst only taking a single hit.
Like what? Most hook interruptions I imagine are two hit downs. One to temp stop the unhook. The second to down. That’s still available in my suggestion. What I am not a fan of is 1. The idea that they are looking for an instadown via a possibly bad game mechanic, and 2. They are in a standoff.
Like, who was arguing that Leatherface holding M2 in front of hook was a great mechanic in the game? This is the same kind of mechanic - for all killers.

Not likely..bad saves should be punishable..run bt if camping is really present in your matches
With no grabs you’ll still have bad saves, but no stand off.

@Marcavecunc said:
Removing hook grabs would make survivors just rush in for unsafe unhooks even more than they do now. Don't go for unsafe unhooks and work on generators to punish the camping killer.
If the hook is forever unsafe, then what? I believe part of the reason they made changes to Hillbilly and Leatherface was to de-incentivize camping. This is in the same theme they're already pushing.
Add grabs to healing to compensate. Death pays for life, y'know?

They're fine as is. The only time it feels a bit unfair is end game. But the killer should have some control over this at end game.
NOED does this. I'm pro-NOED as is.

Wow, OP dumped on several add ons I like using. All three of her fatigue reductions are good. Obviously her charge add ons are good. The perks via add ons are good, especially the Nurse’s Calling yellow. I combo this with Sloppy Butcher and one of the fatigues regularly.
Imo her sweet spot for add ons are the greens and yellows. I don’t like her enough to try out the purples and the iridescent with 1.05 movement speed discourages me from blinking (bad habit) so I don’t like using it.
After playing her quite a bit I like about half her add ons. Not that different from most killers. Oni might be the killer I like using most the addons for.
-
BBQ and Pop are the building blocks for every killer imo. I completely agree that STBFL gives a lot of value to Demo. The fourth slot is the flex imo. I’ve been using Monitor and Abuse to get me that much closer to survivors before starting chase.
Some streamers like Enduring because you can get stunned and follow with a pallet break.
But let me reemphasize, it’s a flex. Just about anything can go there.
-
I don’t see the problem in the OP. Saying someone is bad after an accomplishment is either a lack of character or a prod for a goofy conversation. I’ve been working to make salty players laugh in the end game chat. Soon as I see lol I won twice.
-
As already said, no DC penalty so things are back to how terrible it’s been in the past. Solo queue is more difficult now.
-
Borrowed time is fine as is.
-
Thoughts? I’m okay with it.

My advice as a killer Main. If you get owned, don’t stay for the end game chat. If you destroy them, tunnel, or camp, don’t stay for the end game chat. Whether they lose or win, 9/10 times they will have nothing nice to say. If you lose, it’s gg ez baby killer, if you win it’s zzzzzzzz boring killer crutch perk noed tunnel camper.
just play how YOU want, and remember a 2k is still good, don’t get disheartened when you don’t kill all four.
I always give the players a chance to chat. If they’re unfun to talk to, I make it fun (for me). If they persist in being unfun I move on.
Giving players a chance to talk netted me a bunch of friends.

Hi, just curious about the general playerbase's opinions. I don't play any other online games, but this one causes such an immense amount of stress to where I literally get chest pains after playing a few rounds sometimes. Is that a thing on other online games or am I just crazy? I feel so dead after playing this game, but I love it still. DBD is most likely my favorite online game simply because I am a horror fanatic, but it feels like such a pain to hold on to these days, even after spending so much money on it.
(Side note: Mostly when playing killer does this stress occur, survivor I fare just fine and put on some music)
I would say this is not the most stressful game. Madden was probably the worst. Call of Duty and other online multiplayer shooters have resulted in broken PS controllers and mice.
I have upset moments on occasion with DBD but it is not to the level I’ve been with other games I literally had to put down.
Except Nurse. She’s as bad as Madden.

He is simple to use in comparison to other killers. Overpowered? Nah.
Ghostface may actually be the best killer vs Object since while undetectable, Ghostface can see the survivors aura, but the survivor does not see Ghostface’s.

How calm? I occasionally use it on Nurse/Huntress, didn't know it works well for Ghostface too.
Because Ghostface hides his stain and terror radius in his ability, breaking line of sight with a survivor (which a lot of times naturally occurs after a vault) allows you to ‘perfectly’ mindgame their actions when you know exactly where they are and are going and they’re not sure where the GFace is or coming from.
Its literally a panicing moment and results in tons of great plays.
Truth is it works on many killers. I use it on Legion to hit the first Feral Frenzy. Legion loses the ability to see scratches but can still see auras.

I honestly wouldn't mind if Billies became as scarce as Nurses.. I like playing against nurses way more than billies.. but that's an entirely different topic..
And yeah, you can make numbers say anything you want.. But there's a different when the way old ruin worked was only good against lower ranked survivors since higher ranked ones could just ignore it. But anyway, they changed it a year ago (or something? I honestly forgot when they changed that, and I can't be bothered to look it up)
And on the topic of Decisive Strike.. I had a few survivors try to bait me into Decisive Strike by either running straight at me or jumping in a locker in my face... and guess what? I didn't bite.. I went for someone else, slugged, or face camped the locker and shook my head at them until time ran out or they decided to jump out. Decisive Strike actually requires interaction from both parties.. Old ruin required no skill at all.. New ruin requires the killer to chase people off generators and keep them away from them.
But yeah.. as I said earlier, I'm not the best person to comment on the Hillbilly changes, but it makes sense to at least add a cooldown to his power, seeing how you could just have it on forever.. Same reason they added a cooldown to Sally's blink. She's still quite powerful in the right hands, and she's still my second favorite killer, behind Amanda, but you need to think a bit more before blinking after someone.. Blink right away, or wait for the second blink to charge up? It'll be the same with the changes to Hillbilly.. no more mindless revving the chainsaw with no consequences.
Hillbilly already has drawbacks to his power. This nerf is adding a fifth or sixth drawback to his power.
-
Chances are, contrary to OP's point, the Hillbilly nerf was more likely because they listened to the community.
Wrap your brain around that for fun.

-
Spirit and Plague is literally the reason this probably should not happen.
-
Speaking of a killer's perks that have synergy with their respective power, I have come to adore I'm All Ears on Ghostface.
-
They could change it to instead of movement speed buffs but killer interaction buffs. Faster hooking, faster pick up, faster breaking of pallets, etc.
-
If it gave a speed boost for an additional limited time I could see it being worth using. Ten seconds of increased speed.
The complaint is that the moments survivors use flashlights on a killer is when the killer is immobilized. Pallets, pick ups. Moments when movement speed is not a factor. If it extended to a moment where movement speed was a factor, it might be worth something.
If survivors know you have lightborn however, they'll probably stop using the flashlights.
-
I wonder this too. The curve was removed.
-
I vote change nothing.
-
I think if they removed all drawbacks from new add ons (literally all of them ie movement speed debuff and iridescent speed limiter), removed charge time increase from engravings (nerf the speed increase from current), and give a timer to the flashlight movement add on (ten seconds of +0.2 meters if a flashlight shines on the killer). This will put the add ons in a palatable spot.
- Allowing the one yellow charge tike add on to remain without a movement speed debuff as a rare (purple) is not going to get probably any complaints. Many of the streamers were saying to keep all charge time add ons and apply cannot stack language. One twelve or eighteen percent reduction is far from broken. Also the brown add on with a penalty is such a sad metaphor for the state he was in in the PTB.
More expensive (than current addons); still worth using.
I think a reduction of one of the Hillbilly’s current drawbacks while utilizing the chainsaw is in order as well since they are limiting it’s use. He pre-nerf has to deal with a charge time, slower than survivor movement speed while charging, basically no movement speed after ending a saw, and a massive freezing cooldown upon hitting an object. All of this is likely planned to stay while also not being able to use the saw for long. Reduce one of these to encourage the use of chainsaw.
These changes will encourage the use of his high end add ons. Encourage the use of his ability. And removes the negative aspects they were targeting with the nerf (face camping and insta saw).
-
Very happy with the event! Prestige three’d Hag, Deathslinger, and Executioner from level one up. Also probably more importantly, dumped bloodpoints into my already P3’d killers for perks and addons including Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Huntress, Spirit, Oni, Ghostface, and Demogorgon. So oddly it feels like I prestiged fewer killers than during the Blood Rush but smoothed out so many many killers too.

Time and time again the devs make a perk/addon that's DECENT... then slap on a downside or a huge cooldown or a pointless limitation (Fixated) which then makes it weak or useless. I get not wanting to do another iri hatchet oopsie (But of course it has been around for 3 years with no tweaks so??) but there has to be a happy-medium.
My problem is this was a pure nerf without any corresponding buff in any of Hillbilly’s attributes. No more sawing at will (even though there’s a charge time, movement penalty, and low movement speed cool down). Now you can’t activate it after two attempts.
Make up for it somewheres. It feels like it the hope is just to use the saw for movement then back to M1. Would Billys be happy if they remained 115 or even 105 while charging? What if the charge tike was reduced at base? Anything to compensate for not being able to use his ability.
-
I’m okay with the challenge as is.

1. Movespeed bonus after breaking a pallet with your saw. (Purple)
2. Silencing your saw when out of a chase instead of the 5 second charge requirement it has now which is useless. (Purple)
3. Getting stunned by a pallet causes your saw to charge faster for x time/causes your heat to instantly charge down (Green/Purple)
4. Keep sawing after sawing a pallet WITHOUT the weird speed limiter addition that makes it literally garbage (Iri)
5. Large field of view bonus while sawing (Yellow)
6. Chainsawing a Gen causes it to start to regress and you suffer no penalty for crashing into a generator (Brown/Yellow)
There. All of these are better than the GREEN rarity Mother's Helpers. "Niche" uses should not mean they only come up once every 10 games. It should mean it can be used in combination with other perks/addons to help you multiple times in a single match.
Edited to add another idea.
I would love these changes.
I read above the engravings move speed was nerfed. They should remove the charge time drawback if that’s the case.
-
Corrupt is great on Plague since she can vomit on the four remaining gens.
I may be alone on this but I swear by BrutalStrength being meta for most M1 killers.
-
Deathslinger is definitely the ultimate proxy camper from his small terror radius and ranged attack. Still on the fence on whether that's a bad thing yet.
I mean the latest killer encourages tunneling tormented survivors. And why wouldn't they?
-
I like the never lit totem idea. The problem with the all lit totem idea is lit totems are more noticeable imo.
-
He makes great points but from what I can tell the game is balanced around this. The change of mindset I'd recommend killer players make is to take the "learn to let go of a chase after fifteen seconds" rule that several streamers stand by. Chases take longer than they recommend/realize except for the absolute tater tots they regular upload videos of.
Most games take fifteen minutes. Killers rarely will get a string of successful fifteen second chases. It's just more nuanced and the math Scott explains is correct in those scenarios but imo not the doom/gloom that it may appear (nice background music).
-
She probably needs a buff to the base cooldown (~2.5 seconds/charge) and a corresponding nerf to her recharge add ons. She only seems great via slugging.
I'd recommend Nurse players incorporate more slugging if they want to continue to learn her. Thing is so many killers improve in their success with this (Oni immediately comes to mind) and I hesitate that she really can achieve anything more than other killers despite the reputation from so many streamers. Noone notable plays her (mains her really) yet they insist she's clutching that top spot.
The stress level of winning with her is ridiculously high when I feel I could do the same or better with Ghostface or a 'Scott Jund' Oni.

I feel like she needs more compensation for the cool down bar, but i don't know what. With enough experience, she can be a terror, but she seems to have the fun factor = laundry.
Apologies. I am actually not trying to talk you out of playing her anymore. I woud love to talk builds and add on combinations. I just feel the frustration from her seeping back in from when I dedicated myself to prestiging her (less than a month ago).
-
I think the achievement is fine where it is. I'd question what perks are being used. Anything that boosts speed is highly recommended from my point of view. I remember when I did it I ran Play With Your Food and NOED (for the +4%). I forget the other two perks but ideally you will not be hooking a survivor so no BBQ or PGTW.
-
I think Hillbilly's points are probably in a good spot. The Shape on the other hand needs the entire point system reworked. With certain add ons, the killer is lucky to get above 18,000. He's the only killer I can think of that the better the add ons brought, the worse the final bloodpoints will be and there's no way around that.
I think it made sense when he came out but like OP is highlighting, it is very outdated with comparable recently made killers.
-
Nurse is the only killer that makes me want to put the game down after a 4k.
-
I think this is a perfect example of what happens when you tell someone else what to do or what's "rude." Neither of you are really right and both of you are silly to try to persuade the other of anything.

@BadMrFrosty said:
I typically run BBQ (sometimes I replace it with something else), sloppy butcher, monitor & abuse (to make my TR less than the aura reading range of nurses), and nurses.
Honestly, if you can deal with the wonky FOV changes due to monitor, I'd say it's one of the most underrated perks on nurse and makes her truly terrifying.
I ran monitor for a while on her and decided against it because I believe Nurse needs to traverse the map with blinks and her screeches give away her position. Not going to exactly sneak up on anyone.
And to counter the Nurse’s Calling point made above, she doesn’t exactly walk into range of this perk, she blinks into it. She doesn’t carefully approach four meters a second but in fifteen to twenty meter bursts. So a Nurse is more likely to blink into a zone and happen to see the healing auras if that makes sense.
Ohtofu runs Nurse’s Calling on his build without monitor as well.

It is useful for making it easier to see and keep track of survivors during fatigue but it's better to just use your ears for that. That's why I guess you could say I run Stridor in its place. It counters iron will and it's helped me find stealthy survivors nearby that I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise. Sometimes I like to use metal spoon because it stacks with Stridor which is pretty cool.
I agree. Stridor helps with blinks through walls as well which if you haven’t seen is hard to convey how it does work.
Its odd how stridor only seems good on Nurse and Spirit imo.

I was addicted to shadowborn learning her as well. I kinda weened myself off of it with Monitor and eventually stopped using both altogether. I wanted more from my perks so that's why I didn't want to keep using it. Shadowborn really is a drug perk.
This is my thought process as well on not using Shadowborn. I thought before unlocking it that it would help with 360ing survivors as they cannot hide on the killers ‘hip’ due to limited field of view.
I had a similar thought with Hillbilly and backrevving, which does work, but with his nerf I don’t think I’ll have as much flexibility in his loadouts anymore.
Thing is I’m not sure I’m actually getting value from Shadowborn on Nurse but know I would get two to three hits from I’m All Ears or extra slowdown from Sloppy.
-
I’ve been running BBQ/PGTW/Infectious Fright/Shadowborn. I think I may give up on Shadowborn but not sure yet. I prefer certain addon combos on her. Charge reduction and fatigue reduction are my favorites.
I am also a big fan of her oblivious on hit purple add on in combination with her green 115% ‘walking’ nurse green addon.
My bud, who only plays Nurse, runs Sloppy Butcher and I’m All Ears with Pop and BBQ. He insists on playing addonless.
