I disagree and am having a hard time thinking of words to describe that he is in fact fun to play as and against.
Trapper on the other hand is the bane to my survivor existence.
-
Whats up bud?
-
I've been using BBQ/PGTW/STBFL/Brutal Strength.
Because of the mechanics behind his ability, it makes a lot of perks feel less valuable. BBQ and PGTW both feel iffy to use. STBFL is for sure good on him. Brutal Strength is in my opinion a meta killer perk. Especially for M1 killers. Having fewer pallets faster leads to shorter chases and strong late games. I'm a big fan of that.
-
I’m not a streamer and I can be angry like that.
I have SWF’d with a few twitches while they stream. My frustration with those players I happened to be working with is they’d happily throw the game for a chance at a twenty second highlight and I often felt I was picking up the pieces.
Even that is probably a stereotype thought though because I bet Truetalent or Puppers wouldn’t act like the fellas I’ve seen.
Consistency in winning and fun atmosphere is the keys to being great. We don’t all have that ability.

it isn't SWF that's the problem, it's the 3rd party software that allows for instant voice communication that is the problem, giving you a massive advantage that the devs never intended on the survivors having
I think this massive advantage just might be overrated. Other posters in this thread are giving better examples than I am. Just know that for sure if you’re bad solo, you’re probably bait in the SWF. Yeah, there’s honor in being bait, but the team isn’t necessarily going to be crushing.
We’re not all tournament level.
Maybe play in a SWF yourself. Despite the dev’s ‘never intending’ for this third party software, they set up a discord channel with many many rooms so we can meet up and play.
-
They should just listen to OhToFu. I swear they nerfed Spirit, Oni, and Executioner right after he made a video about them. That man is powerful and they are nerfing his main, smh.

These so called amazing SWF teams are going to wreck you with or without voice.
Put four competent players together and yeah.
This is why you see Killers crying about SWF post game when it's actually four solo queue players that are lucky enough to get paired together.
The devs have said as much too. The survival rates of SWF are marginally better than solos.
The problem with SWFs are there are people who are playing better than the killer because they have mastered the game to a higher degree in understanding and mechanics even though the killer thought they had already achieved mastery. It’s game by game, too. It’s called a trial for a reason.
-
I think I could deal with the overheat function if the add ons weren’t similarly terrible. Anything worth running has a penalty tacked on. It’s why players disliked old Nurse’s add ons. Nothing just does good things.
Less likely to hit a wall? Can’t turn.
Go slightly faster (nerfed the engraving speeds)? Same slowdown on charge time.
Yellow charge time addon becomes purple? Huntress movement speed (laughably bad).
Increased turning? Hit a wall and your chase is over.
A lowly iridescent addon that makes the killer not instadown. Laughable.
The flashlight addons are an idea. I’d prefer action speed boosts in addition to a movement speed buff. Otherwise it doesn’t do anything really.
Here were the proposed add ons.
-
Luckily killers make louder ‘breathing’ noises so I’ve been able to spot these invisible Wraiths. If someone has a flashlight, you can burn them out.
-
I am still not convinced that SWF is a problem. The way I interpret these complaints is there are players who have mastered the game, and even though ‘I’ seemingly mastered it as well I am not playing at a level to consistently win these matches.
We all go in and out of potato. I can look like an absolutely maestro one match then do really bad ~20k bloodpoints, zero kills the next two. It’s not a problem in the system. Some players are just great.
What I think is hilarious is a player could look like just a god survivor the first chase then crumble later and just give up.
-
Object is the only survivor perk remaining that absolutely... absolutely needs to be changed. Give it an overheat mechanic or something where the killer still sees the survivor but the survivor’s eyes need a cooldown.
-
It’d be nice. I literally bring it for bloodpoints. Probably will continue to until I finish prestiging everyone.
-
Deadeye nailed my understanding of Bloodlust. I think that’s all there is to know.
-
I don’t have issues with my hands. To me it’s more of a decide to die thing
-
All of the best killers on tier lists are M1 killers.
Nurse?
Spirit?
Freddy?
-
I could behind a practice mode. I don’t think I can get behind a rank for each killer.
The requests makes sense. The problem I see is having to maintain a ‘Rank One’ for 20+ killers.
-
As far as perks, Plague. But her adept is no stroll. Her ability makes winning an iridescent chaser emblem more difficult if survivors do not cleanse.
-
I like bringing brown add ons against Keys. It’s low cost if they get to hatch, but I like to take the challenge. A lot of these key/map teams aren’t exactly automatically great just cause they bring the no-no items.

There's a certain thing you can do to separate the head from the rest of the set.
The devs don't want people to explain how, so I can't go into detail, but it's a very simple exploit that I'm surprised more people don't know about.
Just know that it is possible and that these people aren't necessarily like hackers or anything.
So how do you do it?
-
Stay strong during this rough time you, the offended.
-
I’ve progressed on PS4 and PC, extensively. Over twenty P3’s on both accounts. Does cross progression mean the accounts could combine? Can I get the Tome 1 cosmetics I bought and earned on PS4 on my PC account without additional charge? Can my characters received all addons on both accounts combined?
This cross progression is going to be a complex ask with many variables and issues.

Actually no I am excited for the LF changes, but then again I dont camp like you just implied I do.
If they remove that grab from hooks than they will remove it from lockers, gens, totems, chest. That's an insanely strong buff to survivors and an insanely strong nerf to killers.
While that grabs not intended for camping uses. Maybe find an alternative route that is successful instead of this.
I brought up Cannibal because he had a direct strike to his ability to camp a hook. It was a positive change and removed an unfun mechanic. I think this change is in theme with the chainsaw changes and the Executioner changes.

Yhyh I've just watched someone play the Oni, but his ability seems abit unfair. He can basically turn normally and run at like double the speed.
There's no way to get away because he can go around corners, and isn't the only way his dash stops is when he misses a hit. Even if you pallet him, he can just activate it again as it dosnt have a cooldown? So you're baso going to get downed unless ur incredibly lucky
Its about 195% a survivor’s sprint. 360ing is effective but he has a lunge and flick. That lunge and flick makes hitting obstacles easy too though.
I would say it’s up to the survivor to know what frustrates Oni. He can do very little after a vault for instance.
He definitely has a multitude of cooldowns btw. Activating wrath, going into the dash, ending the dash, swinging/missing, and hitting objects all have cooldowns.
His power is strong. Inarguable. But survivors can deny him his ability. He’s literally the worse killer in the game until he gets a hit.
-
Take the height of Steve’s actor and compare.
-
Nope. Picking up Lauries after being unhooked was a bad idea though since DS is her teachable.
-
It’s much more than a straight line. He has a lot of maneuverability in his power and if played well can get around a lot of obstacles to guarantee a hit.
He can strafe and move left/right at a slow pace, but can move camera a bit more freely. It’s one of the strongest abilities in the game, but limited by hits and blood orb accumulation.
The best path to understanding is playing Oni but if you’re not interested, maybe watched skilled Oni gameplay. I’d recommend Scott Jund or Monto.
-
BBQ/PGTW is practically mandatory building blocks on killer. A common Clown strategy for survivors is to pre-throw pallets. Bring Brutal Strength to counter and apply PGTW faster.
After that I prefer aggressive killer gameplay. I bring STBFL. Monitor and Sloppy Butcher are also great fourth slot perks. Especially if you want to check for Obsessions/DS in a match.

Other teammates stop trades that wouldn't be necessary if you just grab them.
If this is a non-EGC scenario, this is killer advantaged due to the slowdown implications. Multiple injuries. Objectives not being progressed. If it is an EGC scenario, then the killer probably played a very poor trial.

That would be nerfing Hag for no reason. Hag makes these grabs without camping, just survivors being careless.
It would be removing bad gameplay mechanics, not nerfing Hag. Nerfing Hag would be giving the same limitations Executioner has with his trail to Hag traps. (Exec’s trails quickly disappear from a radius around hooks and generators.)

While it is rare and petty, there are the scenarios you're referring to where a killer camps one person because they specifically want them to die. My problem with that scenario is that there's already so many second chance related hook perks that in the event the game you hooked is apart of a swf, you're gonna get blinded if you're not careful, then someone with bt is gonna save, and now the guy has ds to get away, there is NO catching that man once that happens, but that's only on the extreme hand of the spectrum.
There's always the case where someone just solo-queues and they get face-camped, in THAT specific scenario, I believe grabs should be removed, because the randoms just don't have the proper tools (sometimes intelligence) to save you, and that is probably the most unfun you can have in dbd, besides maybe getting slugged the whole match. At the end of the day, camping is a foolish thing to do during a match (besides end-game) and if I see that there's no point in saving, I'll just apologize and gen-rush. Camping is a scummy thing to do and it takes advantage of other's kindness.
Basically I don't think removing grabs is the right solution, but there should definitely be something done about it.
I think the developers are toying with this idea of reducing camping right now. The Executioner nerf removed the ability to deny cage unhooks (thanks OhToFu). The Cannibal and Hillbilly nerfs removed chainsaw camping.
I would agree to removing hook grabs until exit gates are powered, but I think implementing a differentiation into the game code may not be worth doing.

There is like one camping killer in 50 games perhaps, it's so rare it's no problem at all. Some is being camped one game and can't stand losing so they make threads like this. Just play the game and get better.
If it’s so rare, then you won’t be missing the two health state grab.

The killers M1 for the most part because of the broken grab, but when there's multiple survivors nearby, the killer really can't afford to M1 because if he does that survivor will just run away and another will say. I don't like camping until end-game, I don't think a single killer should be judged for camping during the end-game, but if you just had a bad match against a swf of toxic survivors and they're swarming you like moths while you're camping the hook, then removing the grab would make killers get bullied at yet another thing in this game.
Your thought process is very close to mine and I’ve experienced all the things you mentioned.
I am not anti-EGC camping scenarios either nor look down on that strategy because it’s all that’s left often times. Survivors can leave in that scenario.
I am against killers who give up after two gens pop during early game, hook a player, and wait for a grab because they feel they cannot compete with defending generators or win chases. I think the two health state grab is a crutch for killers and reinforces the poorest gameplay in DBD.
If in order to get a down it is equally as good to hit someone twenty meters away as two, the killer loses incentive to face camp.
-
@LazyPayday said:
At the moment, survivors take advantage of the grab anyways, they'll start saving for just half a second so that when the killer goes for the grab, it starts then stops, allowing the survivor enough time to save, and since the killer was likely stuck in an animation, they'll only get one hit off, allowing both survivors instead of trading with the guy who saved right in front of your face.
This is the exact standoff I’m arguing about. I know you’re saying the grab cancels but in my experience the killer just M1s.

You already have a lot of reasons why this is a bad idea, but it also punishes good players of other killers. Why shouldn't nurse be able to grab you off hook if she teleports right to you? What about when a killer drops from a top floor and grabs you off a hook? What about any stealth killer being a stealthy killer?
It's a firm "no" from just about any killer player.
Nurse question: because she’s not an instadown killer. There are perks that give her this effect.
Killers dropping from top floors can still interrupt hook saves. Just not a two health state grab. Same for stealth killers. Ghostface and Myers both have instadown mechanics, but earned.
I know you said just about but I am a killer player.

Adding grabs to healing would be pointless because no one is stupid enough to heal directly in front of the Killer.
Hook grabs are there to punish really bad save attempts yes it can help campers but it would also be better than having people just unhook by exit Gate or something right in your face and you legitimately being able to do next to nothing about it
Healing grabs are oddly missing though. I bet I could get one with A Nurse’s Calling Ghostface.
To be in that situation described (end game, hooked by exit gate) means the killer played a bad match or was outplayed. I mean hooking by an open gate is a pretty big strategic flaw.
Really bad hook saves can still be punished. Just more earned then the mechanic I’m arguing out.
I am willing to take a hit in a low % play for me (and as many of you say) to remove it from the game and the arsenal of bad habit players.

Why can’t killers get two health state grabs at windows then? It’s the same logic but applied two different ways.
Because there's no reason to punish someone for vaulting. There is a reason to punish someone making a bad save. It's like being able to grab a Survivor who won't get off a gen. Punish.
The two health state grab is not a ‘punishment’ for an opportune killer.
Yes, it is.
Were you pro M2 hostage Cannibal? Survivors trying to save were just ‘punished’ then too, right?
I am not pro camping. I am pro punishing bad saves.
Looking through the responses to this thread I think there are too many bad habits in the killer community. Encouraged by the gameplay mechanics, encouraged by the community. I might not have convinced yall yet (or ever) but I hope y’all keep it in mind while playing matches for the next few days.
This thread has convinced me to start making as many hook grabs as possible. :)
This doesn’t acknowledge the downward spiral that the decision to camp hooks creates. Killers camp when they feel they cannot compete in stopping gens or winning chases and encouraged to stay by a two health state grab. Rather then defend generators and look for chases, they stay and wait. Thrilling gameplay. ‘Doing gens’ doesn’t encourage the killer to stop camping. It reinforces their thought that all they have is a hook camp.
Again. Killer can still punish bad hook saves (even though they’re forcing all hook saves to be bad). Removing grabs doesn’t stop trades. They just don’t get an instadown.
Maybe you’re a killer whose abilities are beyond this style of strategy but many aren’t and need bad habits removed by removing bad mechanics.

i'm going to say no because they time survivor follow me to hook and unhooks in my face survivors got balls and removing grab make them do it more.
This kind of tactic is why I back up facing the hook after hooking a survivor. If they try to hide behind me they get revealed and any insta hook can be M1’d. You don’t need a grab.

Dude, really, hook grabs are extremely rare to happen. I, as a killer, know that camping is kinda stoopit and, really, if killer caps, give him a chance, let him do it at least kill 1 while all other genrush. If it is a good team(even random) it is easy to distract and save...
First, not all survivors are playing with friends. Second, most SWFs are terrible at the game nor read the forums or watch videos like maybe you and I do to increase our situational awareness.
Third, if they’re so rare to not worry about, maybe don’t worry that that specific two health state grab is no longer possible. I don’t like camping as killer either but in my experience, two hit downs at hooks are not miracles plays.
I think what is agitating me the most about this discussion is the posters I am talking with don’t realize I’m shooting myself in the foot with this suggestion just as much as ‘yours.’

How would that be any different from just removing grabs completely, then? If they're rushing the hook while injured, you just down them anyways, no harm no foul. The point is to be able to punish them while they are making a bad save while at full health.
Why can’t killers get two health state grabs at windows then? It’s the same logic but applied two different ways.
The two health state grab is not a ‘punishment’ for an opportune killer. It is an incentive to face camp especially when they feel the game is lost when it isn’t necessarily. Were you pro M2 hostage Cannibal? Survivors trying to save were just ‘punished’ then too, right?
The killer will still likely get a down, even in the same face camp scenario. But they don’t get two downs without earning it.

Then the person dies?
You guys aren't entitled to saves.
Bad logic. Killers aren’t entitled to kills.
Playing better in the early part of the game should result in well played matches. Not hook camping because the killer is bad at chases.
As another poster said, the two health state grab enforces a poor playstyle. And as many killers know, hook trading is still very much possible without a two health state grab. This suggestion does not make rushing hooks safe.

I want to point out that several add ons extend the duration of the blind making it even more difficult with their houdini act.
-
I ‘l o v e’ Save the Best for Last on M1 killers. I use OP’s build minus discordance. And sometimes switch Stridor for Monitor and Abuse.

Imo the shrine is cost ineffective for the actual purchasing of perks. The shrine is where I get blood points now for the week.
Buying a character for 9000 shards gives you three teachables, too. That’s 6000 in value but you also forever have that character. And better yet, you get to pick the character with the teachables you want without waiting for that character to appear in the shrine.
-
They are implementing bots. In other words, they are fixing it.

Myers playstyle is fine as is. I think he needs a blood point rework though.
-
When I first started playing Dwight was my best starter with bond. With aura reading perks I could see live in game how survivors were acting and doing. It helped me learn what to do, the maps, and gen locations.
After restarting on PC, I went immediately to David for double bloodpoints (WGLF) and Dead Hard.
For me on PC: David, Bill, Laurie, Claudette, Meg, Jake, Nea, Feng Min
and I recommend this order to all as well.

there shouldn't be a standoff in the first place, if killer is camping you should do gen. When you stick near the hook you remove any reason for the killer to go away.
My point is the killer ‘wants’ to stay by the hook because they get an instadown. All killers get the instadown at the hook. If all killers didn’t get an instadown, maybe they won’t ‘want’ to stay by the hook anymore since there isn’t an any increase in advantage by the hook as opposed to fifteen meters from the hook.

Because the one thing this game needs is more survivors unhooking in your face immediately after you hook a survivor.
