I feel like you've turned a blind eye to the plethora of perks that slowdown generators either directly, or by forcing the survivors to do other actions other than generators slower.
Corrupt Intervention, Dying Light, Huntress Lullaby, Ruin, PGTW, Surge, and Thanataphobia all directly slow down generators or regress them.
Then you've got perks like Discordance and Surveillance which help you keep track of the generators so you know where to go to keep the survivors off of them.
And finally, you've got perks like Sloppy Butcher, which makes other actions (in this case, healing) take longer. Times spent doing other things is time spent not doing a generator.
This doesn't even go into lesser used or more niche perks which could give you some extra regression/info/slowdown.
I know you wrote off perks like Ruin and Thrilling Tremors because they don't work automatically, but that's because getting them off the generators is your job. You, as the killer, need to get them off them so they can take effect. In Thrilling Tremors' case, that info helps you figure out where people are so you can go chase them off. Thanataphobia as well stacks with other slowdown effects and can was a lot of time (a heal becomes ~24 seconds when combined with Sloppy Butcher, double that for Self Care).
Perks aren't the only way to slow things down. They can help you, but they're not meant to stop all progress for you. The best way to slow things down always has been to play smart and keep people off of generators.
So the solution to genrushing is to use perks that when we use them too much they get nerfed because gens are totally fine otherwise?
-
Im not very optimistic but thats because BHVR cant seem to nerf a killer without breaking everything or ruining the killer.
-
If the hatch wasnt a dumb mechanic that was given to survivors so they can have an easy 1/2 escape no matter how bad they played then most killers wouldnt need to slug for the 4k. Imagine if in league of legends they had a mechanic that said "If your team is down by a 6 tower loss by 20 minutes, you can kill baron and instantly win the game no matter how good the previous team did.
-
Theres a whole thread about this that sums it up better, but it comes down to game design. Facecamping shouldnt be punished, the game should be designed in such a way it is more fun for killers and survivors
-
Could be people on a nostalgia trip, people who liked billy before but just dont like the chainsaw now still playing their main.

I gotta say this, back when i played this game, (havent played since start of rona) i had massive issues playing. Id start the game, pick a killer (Plague or spirit, spirit was my fav but audio bugs made me try plague more, surprise more bugs) 2-3 gens would proc about 90 seconds into the match, id at best have 1 hook at that point. At that moment I have a decision to make. Do i leave my hook and go for another person, or protect the one i have because the games over half over and then ill just have no kills.
I hated the latter option but it was so easy to get memed on through loops and unhooking the second i take 2 steps away that i decided screw it. I might as well keep the one ive got. Granted, some games ppl played poorly and there was more interraction or i did abnormally well, but that was the majority of my matches.

You are complaining because people are playing Twins in a manner that is consistent with all other killers. That is NOT an issue with the Twins. Rather an issue with the player. The game can't force someone to play a certain way. You continue to say that because the Twins can't pressure gens players are somehow forced to camp and slug. That is a generalization I do not accept because I see Spirits ALL THE TIME camping, tunneling, and slugging. In fact, I find them to be the biggest sluggers, when in fact they don't need to. Your reasoning is flawed. You can be the most powerful killer, teleport around the map, and they will still slug and play in an unfun manner. I think this is another petty excuse to nerf gens because you can't play the Twins or you saw someone else say "aw, they are weak".
All killers shouldn't be able to win all the time. A killer shouldn't be able to pressure all the gens all the time. A killer shouldn't feel comfortable with winning, which you alluded to. If gens are going too fast, it is not always the game's fault.
Except it is the games fault. Even as spirit you dont have a good answer to survivors that just hold m1 and rush gens. The best you can do is down someone and force them out immediately. Survivors dont get to engage the killer and play the game because they have nothing to do. Just sot and hold m1 and look in 360 degrees around them for the killer.

They released a broken unfinished product because they knew people would buy it. The fact is even if they fix it it doesnt excuse it

Just to give you a heads up, this issue will be fixed in the upcoming hotfix.
Look, im sorry but thats not acceptable when you have to pay for this content now. The fact that this is released in its current state just to stay on a release schedule should maybe have people rethinking their priorities. I could understand if the game was in early access or if this was a test patch on the ptb, but this is a 3-4 year old game with loads of content, battle passes and now login bonuses. Not trying to pick on anyone but the ball was seriously dropped
-
Here are my thoughts on DC. For what its worth anyway......
If there is a real life emergency by all means DC, Life takes priority.
DCing is against the rules and really screws up this game, for survivors it can cause one of the following problems.
1. Dc Early, forces your team to lose pressure and suddenly be disadvantaged, killer loses 1/4th possible emblem points.
2. Dc mid game, can really screw over both sides equally, survivors lose that 2nd or 3rd player keeping things from getting rough and killers, again, lose emblem points and BP (excluding quitter bonus)
3. End game DC, usually some of the worst because this can be used to give the hatch to the last remaining survivor, this can totally throw the games balance.
-
Ive said it before and ill say it again, i love the concept of this game and maybe it started out as a deeply cared about project but as it stands I cant stand this game. The developers have directed us to other games if we arent happy, they have insulted and belittled people who criticize their game and dang it, this was a brilliant concept that got muddled by greed.

I'm not buying. "Killer community.... Nerd rage about it and ruin the experience for everyone"
So we don't care about the killers dealing with toxic behavior then? Why is it the killer community gets dismissed or handwaved away?
Toxic behavior absolutely has an impact on the game.
Unless I'm misreading what you're meaning?
Im new, yes, roughly 500 hours.
Yeah the general consensus (Including from the devs as they have said that frustration is a part of their game) is that toxic ingame behaviour, tbagging hitting on hook etc.... Is perfectly acceptable. Granted hateful slurs and the sort arent, technically they only report it if someone has video evidence. As far as im aware at least

Years of being attached to Big Sis has allowed him to study people's strides and has let him unlock a super stride. While your average Jake can take a sprinting step 10x the distance of the little legs of Victor, Victor has unleashed the ability to close and even surpass the ground covered with a bunch of quick, impish steps. The cute little steps of Victor cancel out a terror radius, but he can't help himself from shrieking with joy!
Next up, Victor is very keen on being close to someone. Being solo feels amazing to him, but he also wants to feel wanted and loved by the Survivors. Through sheer love and playful attitude, Victor can leap like a mini velociraptor across a great length. You may have seen a squirrel fly, you may have seen a horse fly, but you have never seen a imp fly off a building to an unexpecting person below. If he lands these, he gets to face hug the Survivor. This playful banter of course is frightening the Survivor into giving the little guy a piggy back ride instead. Little Bro doesn't know his strength though and typically leads the Survivor into some injury. Meanwhile if the Survivor wasn't feeling up to the piggy back ride, they collapse on the ground from exhaustion. Little Bro calls Big Sis to come help them back up and give them a ride on the hook.
If Victor fails these face hugs or is left unattended. The Survivors take pity on the little creature and give him some pets with their foot. He has a tendency to bite, so the hand doesn't work out to well. Survivors learned this and now take the more foot on approach, though some take a little more force into it. (David may be bitter) Victor loves these foot pets and goes back to Big Sis to let her know he likes that Survivor and wants to play with them more.
Big Sis takes naps when Little Bro is off playing as he is quite the handful. She offers spankings to all for making her walk around and do caretaking with her sickle. Some things she could use something a little less crude and pointed, but the Survivors are pretty numb to pain after hundreds of trials anyway.
Sooooo hes a hatchet that takes time to injure people?
-
What does victor even do anyway? From what i can tell hes like a really crappy hatchet
-
I swear, some people have the ability to read but simply choose to ignore what they see that doesnt fit their narrative. OP is talking about how the gameplay for survivors, changes to feel like standard m1 killer gameplay when going against the spirit. Not comparing spirit and m1 killers.
At first i thought it was just 1 guy reading it wrong but aparantly every single survivor in the thread just closed their eyes, plugged their ears and started screaming *SPIRIT OP STOP ARGUING*
-
With so many people throwing a hissy fit I think this needs to be said.
1. Current gens being the only objective and having such a lame interaction of just sitting there holding M1 has been one of the biggest complaints of the survivor community for the longest time.
2. Those of us who "should just play a different game" have done so, I even deleted it from my.library because, in its current state, it isnt even worth the space on my bloated games list, I had high hopes for this game and want it to be amazing but frankly I dont think it can even be mediocre at this point. Just offering commentary.
3. In regards to "having to change all teh perks" GOOD, DBD has SOOOOO MANY useless perks, sooo many perks thats arent bad but are ignored because of the unchanging, unforgiving meta. DS, BT, Soul Guard, Ruin, Undying, BBQ. I think even the most staunch defenders and white knights of this game.cant deny that changing the game up, just a bit to freshen things up would be an Inherently bad idea.....
-
A killer who cant see survivors and has to rely on sound or survivor scratch marks is stupid op because thinking is HUUURRRDDDDD

This was the latest version I saw i think so

so we should keep an outdated mechanic for the sake of new player? i said better remove it and do a proper tutorial
Theres a while host of mechanics and abilities survivors got for the new player experience. Half of the nerfs for killers and perks have been for new player benefit, by that logic we should bring back release pyramid head and old ruin, hey survs, sorry you just gotta git gud

Hence why Pseudo Infinite was used as well. Bloodlust is honestly not powerful enough to cause problems. I never understood why anyone thought it needed to go.
Because survivors have complained about every killer and every killer mechanic being OP and one after another the devs continue to nerf them. Bloodlust was a more recent complaint and so now they are gravitating toward their hatred of blood lust. Mob mentality works sadly

If this was added in they would need to massively reduce the amount of time it would take to install said parts. If it still took 80 seconds + having to find these parts the game would be comically easy as killer.
Kh i understand both of your points.reworking gens would be a pain to do and yeah, finding parts then an 80 second hold would suck.
To address the first one first, yeah, BHVR would never rework gens like this. Its too much work, theyd have to remake several perks and it would be a major hassle.
That being said, doibg that could lower the mindless M1 holding while extending gen times. The issue is that people hate holding a button until its done, with this method you could spend 20-30 seconds installing a part at a time I think most people would be happy. Killers dont feel overwhelmed by loosing 3 gens 1 minute after the match has started, and survivors wouldnt even have to hold M1. Even leaving in skill checks it would be much more tolerable to spend a bunch of small times on a gen rather than nearly a minute and a half
-
Honestly I think gens need to be reworked. I heard an idea that rather than sitting on a gen for 80 seconds survivors should have to gather 2-4 parts per generator scattered around the map. I love that idea because it would masisvely slow the game down without being boring

Bloodlust 1 kicks in after 15 seconds. Chasing someone for 15 seconds is "poor judgment"? I keep seeing similar statements and all I can think is that youre either a survivor main or the ultimate efficient killer that ends everything in 15 seconds or less lol
Because remember kids. Killers have to be able to down someone in 10 seconds after finding them, if you cant you are terrible. Afterall killer powers are all broken and cam instantly teleport you to a survivor so if you cant be bothered to hit the godmode key you are bad

That 1 second cooldown must have hit you really hard on Phead. They can almost blink once before they get hit now.
Me? No, dont even own him, but if its so insignificant why make the change other than hes too fun and too oppressive for poor widdle survivors
-
Whats funny about blight is normally I LOVE that style of character. A high mobility bouncyball. The problem is he has a similar problem to nurse. He requires such pixel perfect bouncing and a perfect setup to actually get any use out of his power. But he doesnt get anything extra from the hit. He seems so freaking fun but i didnt buy him because i feel itll just be another dissapointing low tier killer

There are plenty of issues on both sides, but it's really not fair to say the devs ignore killers. As someone who tends to play surv, I find it to be the opposite. So I'd say it's just the devs at this point not understanding proper balancing in this game still lol
That is fair enough sir/madam

If a survivor running around a window 3 times in a row and me never catching up due to terrible map design and loop balancing is apparently classified as them being "better" than me and "outplaying" me then jeezus christ.
Looks like ebony spirit players are the best people in the game by that logic.
Thats the basic mentality. If killers cant catch up in 5 seconds then they are obviously bad and shouldnt be allowed to play the game with the survivor masters. As much as i love the concept of this game.....at this point i dint think this game is going to get better. The devs seem to not really care about what killer players have to say, if people good at the game say its bad they are insulted and told its bad for new players and survivors. If newer players take issue with something all we hear is "GiT gUd"
-
Ok, im going to be the sensible person here and say, this is stupid and reminds me of when i first got the game when it was first released on ps4. Killers have less mobility thab survivors because of the bigger collision bix. This makes these small loops kn favor of survivors because they have a shorter distance to go. Negating the killers speed advantage. Turning basically every loop no matter how unsafe into a near infinite
-
@CustomerService said:
Anybody who relies on Bloodlust to get kills, there is only one possible answer to you: learn to play the game. It really isn’t that difficult.
Thats been the responce to every killer nerf ever. But when survivors have to have the same treatment the devs always make workarounds for them. How much "better" are killers supposed to get? Every time they adapt and get better something else gets nerfed in its stead. Oh ruin is too tough? Ok we will rework it for you, oh whats that? Pyramid head is too oppressive? Heres a series of nerfz for him its ok hes still op but we will fix that soon. Oh Billys chainsaw is overpowered? Heres a stupid limiter on it that makes him less fun to play.
-
Its almost like people dont understand that killers have to manage their time so that losing bloodlust literally diminishes a resource that is already ENTIRELY in control of the survivors
-
@Mister_xD said:
1) its an experiment. its only for a few days.
2) they explicitly said that Bloodlust was only going to be a temporary fix to how unbalanced maps were when they first introduced it. now with the map reworks its no longer needed on a lot of maps.
3) bloodlust rarely ever helped you win to begin with. if you needed bloodlust to down someone, you already lost simply because you have no map pressure and gens are gonna get done faster than you can hook people.
4) no, just because they nerfed killers this time does not automatically make the devs survivor sided.
5) i barely even noticed the change in my games.
Mkay 1 and 2 are right,
3 is objectively false, bloodlust 1 is after 15 seconds and ontop of that pallets and windows may not be able to be looped indefinitely but the fact that they can stall a killer and the only option is to LITERALLY GIVE UP is bad freakin design.
4. This alone doesnt but with their comments over several patches, I would argue it is an obvious thing they do care more about the survivor experience than the killer one.
5. Well good for you but a lot of people are noticing it, and even if it isnt a big change it is still important to note!
-
This is solely about making survivor players happy because they buy the most cosmetics. Its easier to cater and make the game easier for survivors than to make killers want to come back and spend more money. Chases should get more deadly the longer you get chased. Yes chases are exciting but as a survivor you already have so many tools to play around the killer.
-
Lets see. Its a killer which will be nerffed after 2 weeks because victor will be too powerful, filled with bugs. Also the perks are just meh with a survivor perk that while crap has a huge impact on how killers have to approach the game. That sounds like a turd sandwich to me
-
No because it would be a bp waste for swf ppl. Plus utd require multiple people to have it which wiuld mean giving up a toolbox flashlight or key. Itd be a cool idea if it could block voice chat from 3rd party software.
-
Honestly, i dont mind looping if it wasnt so detrimental to killer gameplay. Gens can be done quickly enough that even small loops can turn a game.
-
If you got 4slugged by a blight at 5 gens then you screwed up somewhere
-
None, because i dont want my killers to be so bugged they look like SIMS
-
Power struggle is going to be a pain in the ass. Mainly because like other survivor perks, the killer just has to assume everyone has it and never go.near pallets again
-
Ok so lets give the survivors the ability to kill themselves while downed. Whoops looks like everytime you down someone they press the die instantly button to deny the killer point GGEZNUBKILLER

I don't do that. And it that still isn't a reason for why Hillbilly, the killer most relatable to Leatherface, cannot instadown multiple survivors with a single use of his power, yet Leatherface can.
Ok. In full seriousness its because his power works as a flailing radius. Its design is he goes nuts, swings randomly and when hes done. His ability is to flail at everything around him. Short aoe bursts instead of long range snipe

And having to hold R1 even more? No thanks.
We need a complete rework on the gen mechanic.
Something like finding the parts of the gen around the map and then come back to repair It for like 10 seconds, do that for 4 times for a gen. That way at least you move around the map, get the chance to be able to play stealthy around the killer, the killer gets more time as well.
That'd be fun, but no, we get skins and battle passes, and nerfs and buffs, and map reworks that dont really help the game because the chore mechanics are obsolete and broken.
I dont know, something other than just sit there holding the same button for 80 seconds.
That would be an incredible step in the right direction!
-
You gotta remember, MMR will be back soon we promise so dont worry much about it even though using game files you can see what killer you are facing before the match starts so the survivors can take a build to totally counter you.

No, the question is why can he do it. No other killers can, and it makes him super noob killer friendly.
He can do it because its how he works. Maybe if you stopped trying to tbag the chainsaw more people would live
-
The better question is why did you misplay so badly he was ABLE to take out 2-4 people in one ability. Not why can he in general
-
I remember my first game back then. 4 survivors just running from infinite to infinite. Even then i believed i had wasted money, after a year or two things had gotten better but not for long

Wait so now survivors are complaining that killers are op now? Lol the survivors had it easy for a while. Now you survivors can learn to counter us:D
ALSO THIS ONE MATCH YESTERDAY I was getting tea bagged by 3 survivors and they ended up dying to hooks lol. And I let one leave because he was doing bad the whole round so gg to him.
But this makes me happy as well as others now:) Because survivors have to use tactics now instead of gen rushing.
Imma have to be "that guy" right now. This has been popping up in several threads recently, that killers are just too op, too fast 0 counterplay unstoppable beasts. I think its because the people that think that keep getting babied. Oh whats that? Pop is too oppressive, ok nerfed. Huh? Ruin is too strong, no problem we reworked it into a lategame hex. A killer is being too strong like PH? Well we nerfed him at every turn but dont worry, the next killer will be a dollarstore billy that bounces for a single hit so you dont have to worry.
-
Heres the weird thing. There are a lot of circumstances in life where, yeah, you doo need to toughen up. This is not one of them and honestly its really disgusting that people act this way. Even more so that reporting has a minimal effect, i get that people have to review it. Im fine with that, however maybe it is time for the devs to ACTUALLY make a statement about it. Or really crackdown on it
