Dead Hard already gives a much lesser distance compared to say Lithe or Sprint Burst. So it really already has a huge cost to having the few invulnerability frames that it has. It's a bit more of a skillful perk. The only frustrating thing is watching the survivor scream and then watching them run away. You didn't hit them but felt like it did. They are fixing that in the next patch.
It does nothing against 1-shot killers, leaving survivor with only 3 perks. That's a big downside already. Less distance. Not viable against 1 shot killers.
It does nothing against one shot killers.
For a single chase.
After getting unhooked you are able to use dead hard no problem
-
I was sceptical at the real part but the trust me bro completely convinced me
-
No rework like Freddy.
Already lost one unique killer that i really enjoyed playing who turned into a boring anti-loop.Really don't need another.
Freddy's rework is the worst thing that happened in this game and it really doesn't need repeating.
I would honestly rather see a nerf then a complete rework. Something like clown or doctor where they add to their power rather then completly stripping it.

Well it's not not going to help

I'd do it this way.
Teammate gets picked up, you hop in the locker, wait out bbq, if it's artist, give an extra second or so to hear the crows fly, then go back to the gen. If she comes after you, handle from there.
The reason I was framing it the way I was, was to give the killer every advantage to show that even then, the perk isn't that big a threat.
Yeah i do agree that it will probably not be as busted in practise as in theory.
She'll be on of the best users of the new dms but i don't think you'll be able to mindlessly camp with it and win without effort.
Between her having to be atleast 10m away from the hook and swarming alone not being enough to kick you off the gen it will be strong but managable

The 12 second cooldown.
Sure, if she gets it close enough to a locker, she'll know you're there. You won't be harried, so it will still take 2 crow shots to injure you, and DMS still wouldn't take effect, so I don't see how that's relevant. She'll have to come to the locker to do anything about that knowledge, which means she isn't camping (as was shown in the videos from the OP)
5 seconds if she's smart and fires one crow at a time.
If she fires 3 then you don't even need to bother and continue to work without risk for 12 seconds on the gen. By the time you have to let go for the second volley almost half of dms times is going to be gone.
Also you assume your gen is always the first one that's going to be hit. How long will you sit in a locker if she starts checking other gens first. You're still giving vallue to dms that way.
Honestly i think the best way to counter this is just to have the nearest survivor hookrush her when she is setting up her crows.
She still needs to be 10 meters away from the hook to use her crows and most of the time she has to look away.
I don't think a resque is going to be very hard. Especially is she just placed a crow and has to start chasing you with her crows on cooldown
-
@AsherFrost said:
I guess this thread has taught me why people hate bbq so much. The counter for that and this is the same.
See your teammate picked up, hop in a locker. Wait for the hook, and the crows to fly, then come out of the locker and go back to your gen.
Voila. No blocked gen, no crows showing your position, and if she is camping the hook (as in the videos) then she's just handed you the win.
What's to stop her from just shooting another crow 6 seconds later?
Also doesn't killer instinct still trigger inside lockers? It does for Legion atleast. If it does she knows your there

Honestly idc what anyone says, the Leon and Jill model look very, very good - and for the limitations of DBD and doorways and all of that fun stuff, Nemesis looks good too. Flashbang and Blast Mine were also great perks and despite my seething contemptment for it RPD is visually stunning, especially compared to what other... Delightful map designs we have currently.
Got to agree, as far as visuals go the RE chapter was great.
Also love the sounds on the RPD map. Hate playing on it but love walking around listening to the save room music

It's no different than Doctor with both calm addons and distressing proxy camping with DMS no? No unhooking with his shocks and blast to block gens. I don't see why everyone is singling out the Artist whenever DMS is brought up and asking to nerf her, when there's Doctor, Freddy and to some extent PinHead with his chain hunts that can use the perk pretty well compared to other killer's.
Doctor with both calm addons and distressing is 58m terror radius
Freddy has to teleport away from the hook
Pinheads chains also have a limited reach and you can manage chain hunt through the box
Artist is map wide pressure.
Now i don't think it needs to be insta nerfed and we should see it live for a while so people have time to come up with counters. But it is a noteworthy synergy that offers a lot of vallue for little to no effort.
I'm all for buffing killers but not if it still promotes camping or lose
-
Change the healing speed bonus to 33%
That makes healing others take 12 seconds and healing yourself 24 seconds. Still better then selfcare but a lot more managable.
It would overall be a good thing to put a cap on healing speed buffs in general. This really shouldn't go above 100% increase ever. You can have perks like autodidact to make it faster.
And finally maybe make it so when snuffing a boon it gets blocked by the entity for 30-60 seconds or so. Not to sure about this one as the only boon perk that's overtuned is CoH

Well, thing is that Artist is basically M1 only killer near hook, she is really bad camping killer actually. So you can easily get 1 for 1.
Corrupt, Deadlock Bubba or Trickster are way more annoying imo.
Even 1 for 1 will be difficult at times as she does have to look at the gens to fire her crows and be a fair distance away to be even able to use them.
She has to stay a certain distance away from the hook and look away from it so a resque indeed isn't impossible.
-
@Dino7281 said:

So issue is face-camping instead?
If Artist is going to chase other survivors DMS doesn't do that much. Hey it's blocked, but that also means it's blocked for a killer = your progress is safe. So Pop is completelly useless, Ruin is also way worse, so that's already two meta perks you don't have to deal with. So this way DMS is going to bring new builds, I think that is good thing.
Bassically yes.
That's why the artist is the only iffy character here cause on some maps she can contest the gens at any range without physically being there. No other killer bar from nemesis getting insanly lucky with his zombies can do that.
Haven't played the ptb though so i don't know if it really is that strong

The thing is with Freddy, you don't have to get off the gen. You can tough it out and see if he's teleporting to your gen or someone else's, and take the hit if you guess wrong. That's usually a bad idea, but after a few hooks with Dead Man's Switch, it's the only play to make.
Artist, you have to get off the gen or she can down you from across the map. Also, being injured will forcibly push you off the gen and activate DMS anyway.
I could see Doc also making this happen if he used Distressing + TR addons; some maps would allow him to Static Blast everyone off every gen.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2741236#Comment_2741236
Does that actually work? I thought Dead Man's Switch activated as soon as a survivor lets go of a generator, not if all survivors let go of the generator.
I have not seen dead man switch often so i'm not sure.
I thought the effect triggered from a generator being repaired to not bribg repaired. If it trigger purely of a survivor letting go then i'm mistaken and it will indeed not work
-
To be fair now that ranks reset to ash every month it isn't that bad.
You can get merciless with a single kill if all the rest are filled

well i didnt know about that,at least well see if we get a meta change,i thought people liked variety
It will be great variety on other killers. If it's something that can't be beaten and can only be used on a single killer that variety is going to be very shortlived however.
Can't call it variety if it's the exact same killer with the exact same build that's practically trade hooks and die every match.

No friend,said to let go off the gen before she hooks someone,if you aren't working on the gen,you cant let go of it,and if you cant let go of it,DMS won't activate.
Yes it will, DMS activates on hook. Whether you are working on a gen when it activates or 10 seconds later doesn't matter
The second you start working on a gen again and stop it will get blocked.
-
@Travis_Bateman said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2741510#Comment_2741510
you cant let go off the gen before she hook someone,thats the counter
I'm sorry i don't understand what you are saying.
She hooks someone, Dead Man Switch activates and then she starts shooting crows at gens. If you get hit by a crow she'll fire another on at you and you either let go and dodge or take damage. Both activate Dead man switch
Now she can stay at the hook and block gens from a distance. not letting go doesn't counter it as you automatically let go when you take damage.
The only way i can think of of countering this is being with 2 people on a gen and taking turns working on it. But that's not really ideal either cause you are bassicly working at the pace of a single survivor then. unless there is a locker nearby
-
@Travis_Bateman said:
That's the point,its to stop gens from being repaired,do you dislike synergy between things or what
The problem isn't really the gens not being able to be repaired. The problem is that they can camp without fear.
The counter to camping is to rush out the gens, you can't do that with this build.
-
If your on pc you can ask your teammates to leave earlier for hatch in the lobby.
But yeah they should probably not bother anymore with hatch challenges.

@HectorBrando said:

You still need to have a locker very close also she knows there are 2 people there so she can keep spamming crows until she gets both crowed or someone gets downed plus rarely SWFs work as 2 on gens at the start since its the less efficient way of fixing them, if they know the Killer is chasing someone each will get on one gen, plus 2 people working on a gen together most likely will get Pain Resonance activated on their gen, triggering an explosion and then blocking the gen.
Best case scenario the group manages to take turns with locker to get rid of crows while the other stops DMS from activating, you are still doomed because you fixed half the charges you would be fixing (you have 1 person just running to a locker instead of working) and against a facecamper you need to finish those gens fast, 3vs1 with only 1 gen done is usually 4K (or 3K+hatch).
Problem with this is an Artist with new DMS, Pain Resonance, BBQ and something else like Corrupt or Dead Lock can apply pressure at all gens, block them to stall the game inmensely and facecamp with little input, devs have said the counter to facecamping is rushing gens, this build stops genrushing and allows you to facecamp at the same time.
Yeah, not saying it's a perfect solution but it is something you can do.
Shack generator for example is completly immune to this. It takes a survivor less time to get in and out of a locker then it takes for the artist her crows to respawn.
Also paying attention to how many crows she shoots of. If she shoots lf 3 crows you have 12 seconds you can keep working on the gen before another one can come your way so there is no real reason to let go before that.
It will probably be nerfed though
-
@HectorBrando said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2741205#Comment_2741205
Not really, SWFs cant manage this, someone gets hooked, DMS activates, Artist begins to facecamp, she reads the auras, throws crows towards gens with people, if they dont stop repairing they eat a health state the next time she throws a crow, if you do the gen gets blocked for ~35 seconds (wathever's left of DMS).
You need 80 seconds per gen (not counting travel distance) if someone facecamps you have roughly ~135 seconds of free gen working (120 both hook states and ~15 seconds until she finds someone else and that person stops repairing) you can block any generator being worked on for ~35 seconds plus wathever stall you got from Pain Resonance and once your gen is blocked you either wait there doing nothing or go look for another one which brings the same problem, get crowed and DMS blocks the gen for wathever's left AND take on account she is facecamping the hook so either she gets a free kill or trades hooks, which renews DMS timer and gets you back to square 1, spam crows and block gens without leaving your spot.
SWF main strength is having free info and being able to put efficiency accordingly "he is chasing me, all 3 get on gens" but info in this situation solves nothing, Survivors have no input on stopping this "she is facecamping, power gens" "oh crap, she blocked mine with Pain Resonance" "oh crap, she blocked mine too with DMS after I got crowed" "oh crap, mine too..." "what now?" "uh... can Survivors unblock gens?".
If there are lockers nearby you can with 2 players just have one jump in a locker to get rid of the crows after getting hit while the other keeps working on the gen to prevent dms from blocking the gen.
Problem is that it's quite a lot or coordination for solos
-

Anybody else remember when he came out all the hype about how Overcome was game breaking…? 🤔
I think I called that one correctly. An ok perk but not nearly as good as a lot of people ranted about.
Yeah, i'm probably undervalueing it but for me it's close to the worst exhaustion perk.
The effects are ok, but being a dead perk off hook or against any kind of instant down really brings it down for me.
Out of all the perks you bring, your exhaustion perk is the last perk you want to be wasted
