  • Pretty much all the time.

Glad i'm not the only one

  • Pretty important to concider that it's only a second off when they hit the progressively harder skillchecks. Most survivors won't do this concistantly.

And how often does it happen you are hooking a survivor in that last second? I think it would already be an exaggeration if it happened once every 100 matches

I would have prefered that hitting great skillchecks had a bigger push effect on the killer instead of wiggling faster but while technically a buff it's so insignificant that it's really not worth worrying about.

  • A couple of reasons i can think of

New character so chances of DC are lower

His own exhaustion perk is useless when tunneled of hook.

His perks in general are tbh awefull, you're practically playing perkless so easy target

You also have spine chill, resilience and the two you listed

Spine chill is a measly 6% when the killer is looking at you from 36m. It will barelly save you half a second if the killer is walking towards you

Resilience is only 9%, it changes a thrill cleanse from 28 seconds to 25.7 seconds. Like 2.3 second difference

If that's your idea of countering the speed debuff and making it useless then i don't know what to say. You just want to believe it's bad

why do people say thrill was nerfed, it was a direct buff lol it is much better at totem protection than it ever was.

I mean the notification removal was a pretty big change but i agree that a lot of people really underestimate just how much the slowdown was buffed.

Mostly cause people don't understand how it works. You'd be surprised how many people think it just adds 50% time to the totem instead of slowing the survivors progress by 50%. Even Otz and other 3000+ hour people got it wrong first

However, you have perks that counters Thrills speed penalty and makes it useless. Killers and do nothing to counter boons because they can get then back up in no time. And yes, you have doctor and legion to try to stop but the low chance that it will is not worth it

What perk are you talking about?

The only perk i know that buffs totem cleansing speed by any significant amount is leader and counterforce.

Both aren't run very often and counterforce only starts going after you started cleansing totems and leader requires 2 survivors to be around the totem

really? how? I have tried many times trying to get merciless without sacrificing a single survivor, and I got the categories brutality, deviousness, hunting maxed out and death hooked everyone and only ever get ruthless. you're kidding, right?

    Sorry, apperently it isn't possible

I know i have had it in the past in ash ranks but looking at it now you apperently can only get 13 of the 14 emblems required if no survivor dies.

I don't know how i've had it in the past, probably a bug or a disconnect. but you can't get it without killing atleast 1 survivor

I rarely play Killer, and didn't even played them all yet... But from my Survivor experience of getting lot of "free" Boldness BP...

Are you talking about Legion? (Please, don't hit me if I'm wrong. 😭)

At ash ranks Legion can get merciless without killing a single survivor.

All killers technically but it's much more doable with Legion

Edit: nvm, i lied. I know i had it in the past but that appears to have been a bug

  • One small point, there isn't a max mmr

There is a soft cap (last known number 1900) that the system will use if it doesn't find players quickly around your actual mmr vallue so you don't sit in lobby for 2 hours.

That softcap is probably not even high. Most likely somewhere between low and mid mmr.

Stop reducing homophobia to "a bad trait". It's not an opinion. It's not a trait. It's a PREJUDICE. Treat it as such.

I was going to type out a long response but this really isn't worth my time. I'm not engaging with somebody who thinks calling out someone for donating to anti-LGBTQ+ politicians is on parr with homophobia. What a ridiculous sentiment.

It's great that he donated to The Trevor Project - which I know is an LGBTQ+ charity because I'm gay - but that doesn't erase the fact he's supported lawmakers with anti-LGBTQ+ ideals. The Trevor Project has nowhere near as much influence or power as LAWMAKERS. It's all well and good saying "oh well he supported this LGBTQ+ charity!!" but what is that charity going to do should the lawmakers decide to strip away queer rights? How is this charity supposed to protect queer people against those running countries? They aren't on equal footing here.

Don't lecture me about how I should "rethink" my morals because, as a gay person, I had the audacity to call out homophobia. How wrong of me to suggest that donating to homophobic lawmakers is homophobic.

Non-homophobic people don't surround themselves with or support those who are homophobic. And that's final.

Scott's entire familly got doxxed and recieved death threats

tell me again what a rediculous sentiment it is to compare homophobia with accusing people of said horrible act.

In the end of the day all humans are the same and there are people in every cummunity that will respond with hatefull acts towards things they don't agree with.

The fact that the man who donated so much to an organitation that literaly saves children lives has to recieve death threats and have all his good actions brushed off like they never happened because of his political views is just sad.

Really makes me question what the worth of a good action is anymore.

They are brushed aside and forgotten so easilly that i seriously wonder why people still bother.

  • Pretty much all of them

They are dirt cheap and often go on sale too. Getting a soda in the movie theatre is more expensive here then some of the dlc's on sale

With thrill, people will sit on a totem, must likely dull and cleanse thrill. It's a no brainer play. But that doesn't take away that all the perks you can use as a killer can be destroyed in the first minute of the match, leaving you with nothing to defend. On top of that, you lose perk slots to use meta perks(different topic). It's a waste of space with perks and it isn't buyable in the game anymore

Hex totems will always be inconcistant that's true, the possivility of them all being gone very fast is there.

But in my experience that worst case scenario rarely happens. More often then not it will take them so long to get rid of the hexes that i don't need any other perks to close out the game anymore.

Especially on killers with information abilities like doctor Legion and to an extend demmo you can make it pretty difficult for people to get rid of the totems with thrill.

Thrill is a very underrated perk now. Sure the loss of the notification sucks but the buff to the speed penalty is no joke

Wow, a whole 8 hours playing video games. It's a wonder he can even get out of bed in the morning, he must be Superman.

What do you do after work?

Not playing games for 8 hours for sure. Adult stuff is hard dude. If i played games for 8 hours after work i'm sure my appertment would crumble to dust in a month and my fridge be empty for all eternity

Otz i believe also has pets and a wife (?) So they also need time invested in them.

I like gaming more then avarage people but if 8 hour gaming sessions dailly doesn't seem excessive to you, especially when your job already is playing games then it might be time to think if you don't have a problem

I am from europe too. Watch his video dude. Look at his nurse match where he got 4k for exemple, he got the game which is insane for nurse. Survivors perks were : only 1 dead hard, 0 ds, 1 UB (yellow) and only 2 BT (1 yellow tho). This is NOT what high mmr looks like at all. I am nurse player in EU and I extremely rarely get less than 3 dead hards in my games.

Ok I'll be honest i don't watch his video's religiously (dude post like 5 hour video's sometimes, my attention span can't handle things like that) so i don't have a good idea of the survivors he faces.

Just saying IF he tanks his mmr then it won't be by afking, people would notice that.

The perk is such a mediocre perk that killer need to play around it just like they need to play around head on.

Killers played around the perk long before the perk existed.

Killers learned not to walk through pallets cause of survivors hiding behind them, not because of power struggle.

You cannot support homophobes be it financially or however else and not yourself be homophobic. Sorry if you think that's "cancel culture" but that's just how it is.

Homophobia is not a "bad opinion" and reducing it to such is a disservice to the massive damage it does to thousands of lives. Homophobia IS telling of someone's entire character - good people do not hate others for something as simple as love.

He didn't donate to those people because they were homephobic. He donated to those people for other reasons and they just happened to be homophobic. Especially in america where there are like 2 choices for president you don't really have a choice. They are going to do things you agree with and things you don't. You can't pick and choose politicians like that. All you can do is go with the one who you most agree with and live with the things you don't agree with.

Will you not support what you agree with cause the other person has something you don't agree with? Cause if you do that you might as well not support anything at all. Am I transphobic cause I watched the certain movies in the movie theatre when i was a kid and the auther turned out to be transphobic later? I also supported them by watching their movies. Am i racist cause i enjoy reading H.P. Lovecraft? He was seen as overly racist in a time where racism was the norm.

People aren't black and white like that. If you cut away every person who has a bad trait then you will have nothing left.

He donated 50000 dollars to the trevor project, an lgbtq charity btw, donated over 250000 dollar to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and all that has been swept under the rug cause he donated 2000 dollars to politicians with 100ths of ideas which a couple happen to be homophobic.

Homophobia is a terrible thing. But throwing those accutations at people without knowing anything about them is equally terrible. It is very telling of your character to how you judge someone so swiftly while knowing nothing about them but rumors.

Cause he supported a person who happens to be homophobic doesn't mean he is. That logic is flawed beyond belief. I advice you to take a moment to rethink what your idea of right and wrong is. Cause if a person that donated over half a million of dollars to charity most of which is giving children a chance at life can be labeled as a bad person so easilly then no person is good.

Honestly, the less time you spend on the forums or subreddit, the more fun you have and I see that as a fact. The forums and subreddit are filled to the brim with excuses and crying about the game, while long time players or good players still have fun and do good. This game just requires a lot of skill or just mental acceptance about how online games usually work, but for some reason people think dbd is an exception?

I recommend taking even just a 1 week break from the forums and subreddit. Play how you want, play to have fun, play to win, however you want. If you lose, that is ok, be accepting of your own losses, be accepting of your mistakes. Maybe rewatch games and see what you could've done different. Play for hooks instead of kills, anything. I guarantee you feel great and you have fun.

People say every community is bad to a degree but in all the communities I've been a part of, DBD really is the worst when it is bad, but when you find the right people it can feel the best. Don't let the negativity drown it for you just because others can't accept the loss and spread what sometimes feels like blatant lies.

I have to agree with this.

    Negativity breeds more negativity.

You're much more likely to become annoyed at certain things in the game when you've been reading people complaining about it constantly while you're much more likely to brush it off if you don't

  • @Murgleïs said:

How can you explain they are games where he is facing only 1 dead hard, no ds and some survivors have green or even yellow non meta perks ? These rumors don't come from nowhere, I wish I had this kind of survivors.

Also derankers know how to stay afk without playing themselves.

    Regions

I don't know exactly when Otz streams but i do know that players are relativelly chill here in europe at certain times.

think about it. How long would he have to afk before counteracting his 8 hour streams?

Don't you think there would be a ton of people who would see him afk? Who would instantly post online when a popular streamer afk's against them.

  • DbD itself not really but i am kinda on a soft-break cause i just bought pathfinder.

The community gives me headaches sometimes. And i'm pretty sure i give others headaches as well. Probably the most divided community ever.

If you take a break from dbd i would advice you to take a break from the forums as well and don't come back untill after a couple of days of playing.

Seeing all the negativity here is going to affect your first matches after a break

Honestly, Thrill is a useless perk because it no longer tells you when someone is working on a totem. Undying is only used when you have other hexes and one use, meaning once it's gone it's gone. But survivors, have boons, small game, maps, etc. that help deal with hexes and totems in general. Killers literally need to listen or tunnel the boon user out so there would be no more boons on the map.

Thrill is amazing, it completly stops people from booning your hexes unless they want to throw the game by afking for close to a minute.

The only times i have lost so far with a all hex totem+thill build is when survivors weren't running boons

  • You mean the rumors that after his 8 hour dailly playsession he plays another 8 hours tanking his mmr?

  • In general stall the game as long as you can (not more then 15 minutes) ,get atleast 9 hooks, hook everyone atleast once and try to get a 4k, hatch isn't the end of the world if you did all the rest right

No matter what narrative you try to take, Circle of Healing is busted and is a win for the survivors.

16 seconds to place, 16 seconds to heal, and let's say another 10 seconds to find a totem to bless. 42 seconds to get a single heal from COH.

42 seconds divided by 4 (as there are four survivors, and your time as an individual survivor is only 1/4 important as the killers) is 10.5 seconds.

You spent 10.5 seconds to give yourself, and your entire team infinite med-kits and the ability to destroy any ability for the killer to snowball. How is that fair? Unless a survivor is dumb and goes down next to the boon, it will always take the killer more time to destroy the boon, than it is for the survivors to place it and even use it.

This perk destroys any semblance of killer pressure. Leave it up? Everyone's fully healthy and you're forced to tunnel people as hit and run tactics do not work. Snuff it out? Enjoy giving the survivors an easy victory as even 10-20 seconds of no generator pressure is enough to spiral a game out of control (because once again, 20 seconds x 4 survivors = 80 seconds).

There is no defending this perk.

The killers time is worth the number of survivors on gens. Not a constant 4.

You can't say that a killer who goes around breaking walls while all survivors are on gens and a killer who has 2 people hooked and in chase with another one both's time is 1/4 of the survivors.

Agree the perk is overtuned and warrents a nerf but i've seen that reasoning of killer's time=1/4 of survivors time quite a lot recently and it's so very flawed

  • Would be cool if the last survivor alive could do this.

In slashers it's also often the final survivor that can somehow kill the killer

  • @Peanits said:

I'll start by saying that I'm not trying to throw any shade here. People come and go over the years, and I really don't expect anyone to catch every single thread we've responded to or remember every time we've answered something. I'm willing to bet there's a good chunk of people who weren't even around last time we talked about it, but we have indeed brushed upon this in the past.

First of all, I just want to clear up this idea that we are only thinking about this now that SBMM is a thing. I can safely say that it is not the case. Over the few years I've been here, there have been loads of conversations about not only this, but many other hot topics that for one reason or another have to get shelved for a while (whether that's time constraints, bottlenecks, bigger fish to fry, etc.).

We shared this statistic because it gives something concrete to aim for. Previously, we only had ranks 1-20 to work on, and due to the way ranks worked- and since there's not a whole lot of granularity when you only have 20 ranks to work with- players of wildly varying skill levels ended up lumped together. I think anyone who's reached rank 1 on the old system knows that it's not necessarily purely about skill. Just by virtue of playing a lot, many people would end up climbing to rank 1 even if that wasn't where they were most comfortable.

As a result, the data wasn't very reliable and the gap appeared far smaller than it really was. Does that mean the gap didn't exist? No, absolutely not. Sure, we could feel a difference playing matches, but I think we can all agree that blindly aiming for a target that you cannot see is not a good idea. Doing so makes any change we could do very risky, as it could be totally overkill and buff Survivors way too much, or not enough and still leave solo Survivors behind (as well as wasting development time that could be spent on other issues). Even after the fact, it'd be hard to say whether or not the change was effective because we don't have anything but our gut feeling to determine if it worked.

With SBMM, on the other hand, we're able to see much more accurate info on just how big the difference is at different skill levels, and more importantly, we have something we can monitor to see how effective any changes are. It gives us a tangible goal beyond "This feels a little better I guess." Now if we do a change, we can see exactly how much the gap has closed (whether it's gone, unchanged, or smaller than before).

But moreover, the main reason we shared this info- both the statistic and the mechanic- is to be more transparent. I think anyone who's been around for a while can vouch for the fact that we normally don't talk about mechanics like this so early on. It's something that people have been asking for and it's something we've been pushing for as well. We genuinely believe it's better to be open about it and frame the things we're suggesting with reasoning rather than dropping it as a surprise with no context.

On a personal level, I find it a pretty disheartening that when we do push to reveal things earlier like this, it's often met with conspiracies, fearmongering and passive aggressive jabs at the team. I always get excited when we're able to good news like this with the community, especially when it's a big topic like the SWF gap. But it's really disappointing to see something that people have been asking for somehow get twisted into something negative. Even still, I stand by the fact that it's better to be transparent and share these details than the keep them locked away until the last second.

You shouldn't let the negativity bring you down.

There have been content creators who straight up made a living bashing you people. Pretty much 95% of their video's were spreading negativity towards you. Luckily the biggest offender has left but the damage is still there.

Sadly there is a vocal minority of this community that has been quite literally brainwashed into hating you. It will never be good for them.

I for one am extremly pleased you learned from the kneejerk reactions like original freddy week 1 nerf and now take the time to see what exactly needs to change and how much.

You’re talking about the key rework that was as complex and hard to implement as making the hatch not spawn until one survivor is left. Yeah I can’t imagine why people are frustrated about that taking 15 light years for BHVR to do.

You mean the key rework that they had to change an achievement for?

    On multiple platforms no less.

The process for that is not as simple as you would think. I'm actually amazed they went throught that effort to get rid of every bit of frustration keys could bring.

They haven't done those in a while iirc, or not any meaningful ones.

Didn't they change pinhead in the latest chapter?

  • Depending how well this works is the difference between a somewhat lackluster patch to a great patch.

I would gladly deal with CoH for a couple of months longer if it means i won't run into cheaters anymore

  • 1,5 months right?

They do balance changes on actual chapters sometimes iirc

  • Would be a bit weird having two survivors with the same perks but other effects.

If it would work i wouldn't mind itp

  • I can only think of 2 reasons

Most likely cause Hour of the witch was released on a midchapter instead of a actual chapter so the revisit of it will happen on the next chapter instead of how it usually would be this midchapter.

Or CoH is fine on their stats. There are a lot and i mean a lot of survivors who are using it wrong and throwing games chasing boons while never touching gens

So basically whenever you go boon hunting, you are going to lose all pressure you had.

There is hooked survivor, you can either go waste time to remove one boon or pressure survivors more, what is better?

Only way I snuff boons are when survivor got downed next to it, I hooked survivor next to it, there is gen next to it. Basically when it's in bad location. But if you have swamp and boon is on edge of the map? I will probably never even hear it.

And what if there are 2 CoH active? That time I waste on 1 boon is pointless, when they can still self-heal somewhere else.

    Exactly.

You should almost never snuff a boon the second you hear it. For example when you are in chase with a survivor and hear a boon you keep chasing that survivor to when you down them hook them near the boon so you can snuff it quickly while still pressuring the hook.

Again not disagreeing that boons when not dealt with efficiently or places in really nasty spots aren't a huge time sink for killers.

Just the general notion of killer time = 4×survivor time no matter what

    @RainehDaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2732526#Comment_2732526

It's only flawed when you try to translate it into killer-survivor interactions. The core logic that Killer time is worth 4x Survivor time holds for everything else--and usually comes up for things like side objectives anyway.

    Disagree.

Killers time is always worth the amount of survivors on gens.

What side objectives allow is to spend time now to gain it back later.

For example healing so you can take another hit and make the killer spend more time on you so other survivors can do the gens.

That doesn't change the fact that for that moment in time where you are healing you make the killers time more valuable.

If you get oneshot after you heal you didn't get the time you spend back and made the killers time more valuable with nothing to show for it.

In the end of the day you can heal, flashlight save, set up boons, do whatever you want. If nobody does gens the killer wins. Cause at that point the killers time is infinitly more valuable then survivors

Whenever you care about boon, you either lost chase, or you are not protecting gens. And that can take a lot of time. For example Ironworks of Misery, survivors often use one of totem spawns on top floor inside main building.

It's nice you hear it, but it would take you around 20-30 seconds to snuff and get back. That's a lot of time you are basically not doing anything worth. So as you said at the start of the match the killer's time might be 4 times the survivors, because noone is pressured, right? Well, who is pressured when you waste over 20 seconds on 1 boon?

True, that's why you don't go boonhunting without atleast having a hook. Or at all under certain circumstances

I'm not saying that certain totem spawns don't make CoH busted.

Just saying that in general that specific argument of killer time= 4 × survivor time is flawed

Snuffing the totem itself is 2-3 seconds. Additionally, it takes around 2-3 seconds to position yourself and "look down" at the totem, because without that you can't actually snuff it (don't ask me why). Let's be generous and say it's 4 seconds. With all survivors alive those are 16 effective survivor seconds to snuff a boon totem.

Waaaait... Doesn't it take 16 seconds to bless the totem in the first place? Whoopsies... is it really that good to snuff the totem?

You also have to find the totem. Options:

    1) you actively look for the totem (Probably takes around 10 seconds, 40 effective survivor seconds. That's 1/2 of a generator). Now imagine on any stacked map, RPD, Midwich, The Game, etc. It can even take longer.

    2) You run into it when chasing a survivor. Snuffing is not an option, because you'd give the survivor more distance

You can argue, that it takes 40 seconds for the person to find the totem, so snuffing is balanced. Okay, sure. What about the second time? Everyone knows where the totem is. Killers cant remove it. There is no cooldown on the perk either.

There is a reason on high MMR never snuff the totems unless it's towards the endgame.

The logic of killers time = 4 times survivor time is flawed

The only time relevant for survivors is on gens. No matter how long a match is the survivors won't escape without doing the gens.

So at the start of the match the killer's time might be 4 times the survivors. But the second you are in chase it's only 3 times. Get someone on a hook and chase another it's already equal cause one has to go for the unhook.

I'm sorry but if your time as a killer is ever worth 4 times of the survivors outside of the first 15 seconds of the match you are doing something terribly wrong

  • Pretty sure it will still show in the killers hud that boil over is in effect so worst case scenario you can just stop hooking and play for bleedout
