Chasing the first Survivor for a minute and half, especially if they aren't injured, is a bad idea. I'd consider leaving the Survivor after 40-45 seconds, unless you really think you can get the down.
I'm kinda surprised that the devs haven't really talked about something to stop gen rush that is not a perk, add-on, or part of a Killer's power. With how long this problem has persisted (at least a couple of years now), I would think that the devs would at least share their ideas for a secondary objective or something that slows the gen completion speed with us. This is probably the biggest problem in the game. At red and purple ranks, if you end up going to the wrong side of the map, there's a pretty good chance you'll lose 2-3 gens just because of one mistake. You shouldn't be punished that hard for one mistake. You have play near-perfectly to actually stand a chance against gen rushers. None of the perks designed to counter gen rush really help either. Ruin can be worked through or found easily, Thrilling Tremors and PGTW require you to down a Survivor, and Thanatophobia is nearly useless on every Killer except Plague. I wouldn't be surprised if Survivors just keep recommending these perks so they don't have to get good and can just gen rush all day.

On the off chance that you're being serious, does this mean you want current Freddy to be able to do literally nothing? Putting people in the dream world is how he interacts with them. If they aren't asleep then he can only walk around and look at Survivors.
His purpose is to slow the game down. That's why you get an action speed debuff while asleep. Based on your complaints, his power seems to be working correctly. The moment he leaves you, just try to get a skill check and fail it or get a nearby Survivor to wake you up.
-
Just make it swap rarities with Father’s Glasses.
-
I'm hoping the loop fixes that are supposed to be coming up soon take out of all these broken loops (especially the ones in Haddonfield, ######### that map). That would be much better than having to go through the "two map reworks a year" cycle.
-
Adrenaline should either give the speed boost OR the health state and not activate while being chased.
Borrowed Time should be reverted to its pre-Deep Wound state. The Deep Wound mechanic was turned into a joke with Legion's rework.
-
Least favorite Survivor: Jeff because it's really easy to see and hear him.
Least favorite Killer: Probably Nurse (I'm on console) or Huntress (I'm not very good with her hatchets).
-
I just got to rank 3 and it's about a 50/50 chance if I encounter a chill team or a sweaty, hardcore gen rushing team. I'm actually trying to get to rank 1 with the new pipping system. After I do, I'm probably just going to derank and avoid hitting the red ranks again as much as I can.
-
It's unfortunate, but not surprising. Survivors refused to get good and devs caved in once again. Were the sounds in 3.0.1 even at the intended volume? I heard that they were just improved, but not completely fixed.
-
I think Myers is the only really quiet Killer. Everyone else either has really loud breathing, a lullaby in Huntress's case, or goes "BOOM BOOM BOOM" whenever they walk.
-
The chase music is insanely loud. I can barely hear an active generator unless I'm really, really close to it. It needs to be reverted to the 3.0.1 version.

OK guys, enough is enough. I know you all liked your free Stridor and Monitor and Abuse because sounds were broken but that is not how sounds in this game should be.
Lol what? That was the closest we've gotten to how sounds are supposed to be like in this game. Do you guys want to the sounds to be this low to make up for your lack of skill as Survivor? Or maybe you're just used to playing quiet Killers like Myers instead of louder Killers like Doctor and Wraith who go "BOOM BOOM BOOM" whenever they move?
-
I'm not really sure. They have done some pretty good things, but they've proven that some lessons are hard to for them to learn, like not nerfing Killers upon release and giving Survivors insanely OP stuff. If the game wasn't so damn addicting, I probably would've stopped playing by now.

What about hag and billy?
Although this isn’t likely 100% true, Peanits said Trapper has about a 60% kill rate at R1.
Those statistics are probably wrong for two reasons:
- That's only at rank 1. Ranks 2-20 aren't being factored in at all.
- They are including things like DCs, suicides, and farming games instead of just Moris and actual (non-suicidal) sacrifices.
-
If we do, then one of these two things needs to happen:
- Killers can grab the Survivor while their weapon is on cooldown.
- Keys need to have a channel so the Survivor can't just use it in the Killer's face and get a free escape (honestly this should happen anyways).
The Survivor will not be able to run up to the Hatch without any consequence. They'll have to outmaneuver the Killer and gain enough distance to prevent them from being grabbed (if the Killer hasn't closed the Hatch of course).
-
I never give the Hatch. You have to earn your escape, no matter what.
-
I buy all of the DLC because I want the cosmetics and the chapters are cheaper than buying each character separately. I also want to be able to play new characters the moment they come out and I am a trophy hunter.
-
It's a little too slow in my opinion.
-
Either a Xenomorph or a Predator.
-
Either Clown's Solvent Jug (getting intoxicated causes Exhaustion) or Spirit's Prayer Beads (no phasing sound).

Best addons for any killer? Tombstone Myers. Easily.
Judith's Tombstone? Have fun being gen rushed and getting away with 0-1 kills.

Playing as: Doctor. Very fun to play as and looks awesome.
Playing against: All of them when I don't have complete potatoes for teammates.

As I always run "Calm Spirit" with my Feng, The Doctor is the best for me to go against.
And to play...I really like The Spirit, just because of her school girl customization. :V

Too many people (including myself) unfortunately didn't see his true potential until the devs had already started on the rework. Some people still don't see it and just go "lul Freddy 7 seconds". I tried Freddy with the purpose of stalling the game 1 or 2 months ago and it went much better than I expected. It was pretty fun. Now that playstyle could go away and given the state of the three most recent Killers, we could see Freddy actually become the worst Killer in the game.
-
I don't think Doctor's original purpose was to deny loops because the interaction stun was added in the Doctor cube (patch 1.6.2).
He's actually a pretty underrated Killer, but he still has a couple of problems. The only buffs I'd give him are:
- Increase shock therapy range by 25%. The current base range is ridiculously small to the point where you won't even want to use it because you'll be in M1 range. Adjust range add-ons to compensate for this buff if necessary.
- Increase movement while charging up the shock to at least 105%. He can lose a lot of distance from just trying to use his shocks.
- Remove or significantly shorten the shock delay. This is just dumb, I really don't understand why it exists in its current state. Is it to give Survivors a good chance to dodge the shock?
- Shorten or maybe remove the transition between switching modes.
- This one is just personal (I'm not even sure if it's true), but the illusions shouldn't spawn on a different floor than the Survivor they're tracking on multi-floored maps like The Game. It's really annoying to check one floor because the illusion and then find nothing because the Survivor was actually on the other floor.
-
There's two reasons that I can think of:
- They liked listening to the chase music.
- They used the old sounds to make up for their lack of skill. Now that the sounds are starting to be restored, Killers are catching on to more of their mistakes and killing them more often.
I like the new sounds much better because I can actually hear the Survivors. I think there should be a volume slider for people who liked listening to the louder music.
-
So do I. I ######### love seeing a Gateau or some other 100% BP offering get burnt only to have the gens fly by. So much fun!
With how big of an issue this is, I'm surprised the devs haven't tried to directly address it. Are they just going to try to shove dull totems and perks in our faces as band-aids instead of actually trying to end the gen rush problem? We need a mandatory second objective that can do at least a decent job at slowing the game down. The Gatekeeper Emblem seems to support this. It might as well be called "bring Ruin or you're ######### lol". The previous version of it was better.
-
I have been saying for months now that Moldy Electrode should be a part of Doctor's base kit (without the charge time increase). His base shock range is atrocious. I would lose my mind if I read a dev post or patch notes and saw that his shock range would be getting buffed by 25% (aka how much Moldy Electrode gives you).
I agree on all of the other Killers. These buffs wouldn't break them. Lightburn should just be removed completely from all Killers (basically only Wraith and Nurse as of 3.0.0).
Plague does need more than just one corrupted fountain at the start of the game. Being sick should come with an action speed penalty. If they don't cleanse quick enough, then the Survivor's movement speed will be reduced.
-
It seems like a good way to make gen rushing less of a problem and Ruin not feel required at high ranks. The only thing I'm iffy on is good skill checks causing a pause in progression for three seconds. That sounds like a little too long. The progression pause should be shorter or good skill checks could slow the progression down instead of just flat out pausing it.
I'm not really sure what kind of perk we could give Hag to make up for the loss of Ruin.
-
Huntress's shouldn't be the Berus Toxin because it'll immediately shut down most exhaustion perks. If it does happen, then it needs to follow the old Exhaustion rules.
The others are fine. Some, like Doctor's Moldy Electrode, are needed badly. His base shock range is atrocious.
-
You're not. More perk slots have been discussed multiple times over the months.
-
Are these alternate accounts or your SWF buddies? Saw something similar happen on Reddit a couple of months ago, except the Killer being called OP was Doctor.
Either way, you should get good. Just treat him like any other 115% M1 Killer after he's out of stealth.
-
If I'm understanding this correctly, you want great skill checks to give 5% bonus progression when a Killer has Ruin 1. Great skill checks give you 2% bonus progression by default, meaning you basically want to buff great skill checks and gen rushing and make Ruin 1 a terrible perk to run against Survivors who can actually hit great skill checks.
How about NO. Fix the gen rush problem first before thinking about a Ruin nerf. It's fine in its current state.
-
Safe hook rescues aren't really that hard. Just get in the Killer's face for 10 seconds. It’d break the perk for M1 Killers again.
-
It should be a feature. Being able to hear Survivors breathing has been a feature we’ve been asking about for a long time.
-
I think it’s intentional. It definitely makes hearing Survivors easier.
-
I’ll be fine with removing it only if we also remove Haddonfield and Coldwind Farm.
-
The devs said they have a way to tell when people start using a perk, so I'm hoping they'll look at the reports and see who is actually trying to abuse it and ban them.
-
I don't think there's been an official statement, but I wouldn't run it and take the risk. I would report anyone who looks like they're trying to exploit the bug though.
-
At purple/red ranks, the gen rush is absolutely insane right now. I'm not sure if the event is causing Survivors to gen rush more often, but it definitely wasn't this bad before. I was able to consistently make it to the red ranks before and there was nowhere near as much gen rushing as there is now. Now, if I make even one mistake, then there's a good chance that two gens will pop and it makes Killer games unfun. I've been considering deranking to the green ranks because the Survivors there aren't as sweaty.
I'm glad we're getting map and loop reworks, but we're also probably going to need a mandatory secondary objective to help slow the game down. We shouldn't have to bring Ruin or a gen protector build just to have fun at high ranks. I'm kind of surprised that the devs haven't said anything about making a mandatory secondary objective (totems are not mandatory, you can still loop a NOED Killer, it's just harder).
-
I love this idea. This would definitely be a big step forward in fixing the ranking system.
-
I think his base revving movement speed should be slightly increased so that way you don’t have to worry about having to be kind of close to Survivors to use it. Right now, you can lose a lot of distance depending on when you rev your saw.
Aside from that, these are some really good suggestions for buffing Leatherface. I hope BHVR sees this.
-
Spirit. She can’t be looped as easily as Billy can.

To preface, I am not a spirit player.
I'm wondering why you're looking to switch NC with Discordance when you already have Surveillance? You have two decent tracking perks in BBQ and Surveillance, and Discordance is similar to Surveillance. Maybe consider keeping NC and looking at whether Surveillance or Discordance would be a better fit for you.
I was thinking about swapping NC with Discordance so it would be easier to find and grab Survivors off the gens. I was thinking about the Surveillance and Discordance combo as a backup in case my Ruin is destroyed.
@DBDbuildsYT said:
If you run a gen based build you could go with something like :
Discordance, surveillance, pop goes and bbq
With prayer beads plus yakuyoke or yakuyoke plus dirty uwabaky or wakizashi saya.
Granted you can find the first survivors fast you will be deadly.
In this regard, you won't need ruin because in my experience ruin counters discordance, in the sense that survivors are less keen to work together with ruin.
Now all I said doesn't apply to red ranks, BUT why would you want to play vs gen Rushers?
Green ranks and those builds are a great mstch
PGTW does seem like a pretty good choice for a gen build. I've heard good things about it on Spirit. I often use Yakuyoke+Prayer Beads and Wakizashi+Katana Tsuba (the other reappearance duration add-on).
I actually didn't think about Survivors not wanting to work together on a gen because of Ruin. I was thinking more about Survivors who knew how to work through Ruin skillchecks and having a back up for when my Ruin gets destroyed.
I hate playing against gen rushers. It's not fun at all. If you make even the smallest mistake, you could end up losing two gens.
-
They let the money get to their heads. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people think it’s fair (for whatever reason) to spend $10 on an outfit (or $5 on a weapon or piece of clothing) and it tells BHVR that people will spend ridiculous prices on cosmetics. I kind of understand the prices for the licensed, Hallowed Blight, and Moonrise cosmetics, but that’s it. Non-event/licensed outfits should cost $5 at the most and non-event/licensed weapons or pieces of clothing should cost $2 at the most. The prices they have now are insane. There’s some cosmetics that I really want, but the prices are ridiculous and most of them are Auric Cell only. They’re giving companies like Activision and 2K a run for their money.
-
I’m having the same problems. Ever since entering the purple ranks, 99% of Survivors I’ve faced are really sweaty. Their only goal seems to be get out ASAP. I've been able to reach the red ranks consistently, and there was never this much gen rushing. Did the event just bring out the absolute worst in Survivors? It really makes want to derank back to the green ranks. Ranks 7 and up are almost completely devoid of fun. Rank 8 can be a hit or miss.
-
You’re right, it really needs to go. Cleansing even one totem is too hard!
-
Killers:
- Gen rush
- SWF
- Maps
Survivors:
- DCs
- Crappy teammates
- Hard camping
Both:
- Hitboxes
- Events encourage the other side to act like #########
-
I heard my first one breathing a couple of days ago and didn’t know what it was at first. My jaw dropped when I realized it was a Survivor.

You can counter insta heals with noed, or one hit down killers and addons?
Seriously? This bullshit argument again? This is the same reason we got MoM nerfed. We should be able to play any Killer we want without having to worry about Survivors bringing bullshit crutches.
-
I'd say they're a mid tier Killer now.
-
I don't think Doctor is bugged (or if he is, then it's inconsistent). From what I've heard, the bug is that after shocking someone in Madness 3, they can only drop pallets and unhook Survivors, which just sounds like the shock just being buggy (it's supposed to prevent you from doing those actions). That also sounds like it means you can't vault or Snap Out of It at all after you've been shocked, meaning you're stuck in tier 3. I tried shocking Survivors while they were in tier 3 and they could still vault and Snap Out of It.
-
Basically the M1 Killer pack: Ruin, Spirit Fury, Enduring, M&A/BBQ. You could use Nurse's Calling, Surveillance, or Discordance to replace some of those perks if you wanted to.
-
I'd say keys and insta heals need to be looked at before Moris (even though I think they're fine because you can actually lose pressure by using one). At least the Killer actually has to work a little bit in order for the Mori to activate. Instaheals and keys are basically "Oh, I made a mistake. I'll just press this button to fix it". There's no skill required at all.

Only time I've "tapped" is when I'm almost done with a gen and a killer is coming at me. I'll let off, take a hit, and finish it. But I wouldn't even call that tapping as much as avoiding a grab for a moment.
It kinda seems like you're just setting yourself up for a down. Do you run Dead Hard or Sprint Burst so you can avoid the Killer's second attack?
