I only play survivor on 100 sens. All my killers are 65 and I do fine.
isnt it a bit slow for spinners ?
Blight and nurse it’s definitely nogo

I mean yes but all of them can be played effective it's just takes more practice than PC. I know more than a few god-tier Nurses and Blights on console. As for aiming it's just a Trickster thing...Huntress/Slinger I GG EZ all the time.
Blight and tight flicks, bumping through tiles is hard af due to accelerations. Z flick is never going to work around most tiles.
With huntress on 100% sens?
It can be played well as:
https://youtu.be/b9-uRUkd8jgBut the console has issues with corrections
https://youtu.be/7DNCoxz8sqsand tight flicks without preturn which are still worse then pc
https://youtu.be/QYeY3IpZNusAnd not to mention gyms and indoor maps as laerrys

I bought Trickster on console and the recoil is pretty bad, + no aim assist.
some killers also have awful controller layouts.
Yesterday I got Clown and you have to press the LB/L1 button to switch from Afterpiece Tonic to Afterpiece Antidote and press it back again to go back to the Afterpiece Tonic. A lot of time wasted switching back and forth. I don't know if they have the same problem on PC or do they have different key bindings for both actions. They need to add 2 different buttons for it on console.
Huntress, plague, trickster, demo, twins - viktor, slinger, nemesis. You cant use m2 effectivly. Only viable is to zone them and adjust aim with movement
clown - literally in same line as them or hug them.
Oni - rush flick is sad.
bubba - if u try to m2 around tiles, there is a best chance you will hit the wall
Blight - Requires you to mind game survivor. instant 90 flicks are impossible, as you always need to pre-turn so you get the possible maximum of 90. If survivor goes a bit toward left and decides to go right. Your correction does not achieve max preturn - miss.
Rushing through tiles or laerrys is near to impossible, as if you do not flick turn - pov to exact location after bump, with next rush you will bump everything else then wanted location. Much easier to get also disoriented. As you bump some random wall pixel and spin as mad
Regarding door frames. Its like a lottery if you will manage to rush through.
Pinhead: M2 on him is viable. Tactical behind corner or through floors small chance to actually aim to desired location.
PH, hillbily: Dont play often. Cant comment
Nurse: tricky and clumsy, doable, but second blink can be pain to aim.
And then you are left with all m1’s and artist. WOOHOO. Now I can actually compete against better players with wraith or trapper! Maybe even as Pig

For me the only ones I will admit I can't be as good at as a PC player is Nurse, trickster, Blight, and Billy. Not saying what so ever we can't win games with them just can't play as good as on PC. I use every killer and have 4k'd lots with all of them.
And this is why we should rant and demand QoL controller changes.
Everykiller that has something to do with aim is a nogo for console.
shame on you bhvr
-
@MandyTalk No feedback from BHVR?
Just silently forwarding it to devs and ignoring the fact how horrible it is to play on console, and you just dont care for the QoL of it
Or should we all rather rant on how QoL is horrible for console (peasants) and we should deal with disadvantage compared to PC? And maybe play some other games, maybe a civilization?

As they are canadian replace every word with sorry
I am honestly sorry that I have bought this game, and spent 500hours on it.
I am sorry that I was convinced that controls feels just a bit clunky then you get used to it.
I felt sorry, that I even bothered to play any M2 oriented killers where for the aims I have to rely on A and D with strafing.
I feel sorry for myself that I have tried to convince myself, that BHVR is actually a great company.
Just for an offtopic and fun fact. After 2 months after release of Hell let loose for console, they have gather so much community feedback, and released an update which has been twice the size of the game itself.
From performance, to bug fixes and incredible QoL including changed to controller, which with personal tweaks of settings, it feels as playing with MnK.
-
But also as you are Canadian Firm, I will use the sports analogy.
Its like playing going to play a hokey. So you play against a team, where all the players have expensive gear.
But to you, coach gives you a hello kitty stick which is worth less then a puck.

Except there is no way to avoid that of course... well very limited options to and with flicks the chance to react is very small
not really. When he rushed, you have to wiggle and spin to change direction. If he gets on top of you = hit. Because BHVR increased the hitbox.
So the idea is to always run a bit sideways so he cant get exactly on top of you and by changing direction you can force him to do a miss (flicking into wrong side).
If he zones you via bump logic…its outplay.
Tiles it all depends, there are sweet spots for blight. Regarding tiles, more or less, all of the gyms loop counter clockwise (a bit bad wording) but force him to pinball from outside, otherwise he will pinball on lockers/barrels/pallet and zone you again.
If he bumps on a rock for instance. Run away from rock the way he cannot have you in los.
He will either try to flick around rock or spend tokens on bumps around to find you

I know :( its stupid there isnt a minimum height before it activates. Basement stairs can do small bump and u loose 25% :)

And this is another misconception that people make about mmr. They hyperfocus on the skill part
Mmr is first and formost a matchmaking tool. Not a skill calculator.
Sure a noed+rancor is going to get easier kills then a "fair" killer but if that noed+rancor gamer gets constant 4k's with that build. Do they need to go up in ranking and face stronger opponents who will punish the lack of perks early and who as obsession will make sure they aren't targeted when the last gen pops or weaker opponents that they can crush easilly again?
Same with hide and do nothing claudette's. Do they have to go down in rank and face weaker killers? Or go up and start facing killers who don't lose a 3v1?
Your skill isn't the only thing that matters in matchmaking, your opponents skill matters as well. If you win with "cheese strats" you need to start facing people who can deal with that. Regardless of how little skill those strats take
MMR balance will never be achieved via 4:1 ratio.
Lets keep it in mind. The higher you get, the less you enjoy the game. To be every game the same, from 5 meta perks to speed of gens, same strats on both sides, just wanting to win. It brings the burnout syndrome, you dont ENJOY the game. Eventually you swap side - less stress or stop playing the game.
Why is there much less killers? People dont enjoy the role in current meta and matches.
How will SBMM solve this problem? It cannot. It will just get a harder job with creating aprox balanced matches with reasonable queue times

Personally i found that the analogy made total sense.
What he said was "shots taken lead to goals so you can cut the middle man out and only look at goals to determine the winner"
That statement is not incorrect.
But for some reason everybody heard "Hockey and DbD are practically the same game"
All analogies fall apart if you start looking too deep into it.
It depends from a perspective.
SBMM wants to put you in matches, where there is supposed to be “50:50” to win or loose.
So from where the thinking drops:
All the hard effort and hooks (where goals should actually be hooks) leads at the end to mmr loss.
At this point:
facecamp bubba vs altrustic teams
or
rancor + noed vs any team
Can get you easier 2K then somebody who whole match does pressuring and ends up with 8H - no camping, no tunneling
Bench warmer aka claudette in locker who does nothing and escapes gets boosted. Same as killers from above scenarios.
This promotes camping and tunneling. They also gave a hint with making BT a base kit. Which is contradictory with killer strat they promote for mmr plays.
top killer vs top swfs will be always survivor sided. And playing “fair” will be rarely achieved with 4K.
Look at optimal play of killer, 1-3 hooks = 1-2 gens done.
Mostly because of on top of gen spawns.
Matches will also never balanced by SBMM since builds and TB w/ BNPs for instance are not taken into account, and with mentality of gen rush and 0 to nothing altruistic plays, as killer you will never win.
Worst thing is, hockey is not dbd, it works differently.
Its asymmetric game, which will never be balanced nor player ratios with mmr included to make matches balanced.
AFTERALL, balanced matches and the gameflow right now, its much more intensive for killer then survivor.
This is why killers leave or swap sides. It takes too much focus and energy to play it, its not fun.
If you decide so to play casually. You drop mmr, you get matched with much worse opponents, this time you stomp them.
Did you enjoy it? Most likely not.
Have they enjoyed being stomped? Most likely not
Limbo of unhappiness

If they plan on continuously releasing more content at least upgrade your game. Even final fantasy 14 has has few graphical overhauls.
Which can lead to:
More players
More money
More attention.
Which can keep this running for another console generation or the next after. If one person can do this. A whole team of developers can get this done quickly.. no excuses
That's just my opinion though. Even a killer with VR capabilities would Male this game even better.
Look at how robust controller settings and QoL of controller is. Aim hachets by strafe movement. Reduce sensitivy, cannot follow on spinning.

Top part is an issue that someone who does game development can explain why it's a difficult problem to fix.
2nd part is annoying but it's a strategy. You need people to be alive, usually full health, hope the killer doesn't have STBFL and not have any power that stop survivors exiting. It's annoying but nothing that is a top priority to be addressed.
I'm going to be honest. The whole thing now just seems killer sided. Not one of your points is about the other side that isn't your preferred role, which is survivor. Totems being uncleansable? Survivors had it for years.
My point is we all want this game to be perfect for ourselves. People saying they want the game to be balanced (which is 2k at the highest level) are the same people complaining about the games being to sweaty.
Is the game perfect? No. Do I think they can make some better changes? Yes. Will I blame them for me wanting to take a break from the game or fully quitting? No.
I'm terrible at explaining so my apologies if this reads like a mess but I think we all just want what's best for us, and don't think with a neutral mindset. This is what creates the 100,000 threads complaining about stuff, which ultimately leads to us quitting or annoying enough people to make them quit.
You cannot say that grab validations are well…its hard to change code around. You buy a new car which squeels you go to car saloon, and they say, well yeah you know…its hard to make a car you know….
Body blocking door just to then run 50m away to heal urself in 7 seconds with medkit is broken.
Why I dont have any cons around survivor? Becouse I dont see any, except that I get bored doing just of a gens, and actually searching for chase. Where even started to avoid using DH becouse it is just broken.
And not to mention, that we, on console have the controller settings feeling like I play FPS on playstation 1 back in 1998.
It is so clunky and acceleration curve is disaster. BUT this is not important either? I really regret buying game and DLCs where 90% of M2 you cant even properly aim.
What do I feel around BHVR? Disappointed. As majority of community. But I am glad you have a full blast with the game
-
Exponential will never be useful from simple reasons. It cannot replace 2nd meta perk and its much worse then coh.
Slugging perhaps across map is almost impossible without being hooked before.
Blessing once per minute is much more effective (compared to doing gens) then trying to find wounded survivor (soloQ) or arranged meeting with SWF.

You interpret them as bad decisions but that's your opinion. What makes what you think is a "bad decision" really right? I don't all your views on this game from balance to fun to updates etc. All I know is that we as a community are why this game is so unfun.
This recent QnA highlighted this for me. We complain the devs aren't as transparent, that they don't do as many streams as before. Then when they do one we ######### all over it, complain they aren't answering the questions we asked 50,000 times and saying it was a waste of time.
I don't mind someone saying you've gotten bored of the game. I just hate this idea "the game is dying because the devs did ___ ". I fully believe it's our entitlement, our belief the game needs to be the exact way we want it, that it's dying.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2769592#Comment_2769592
Literally what I'm saying with the 2nd paragraph.
I also don't mean to lump all good eggs with bad eggs but every person that says "this game is dying because the devs are doing this ___ " to me is part of the problem.
I find these sort of topics hard to explain by texting rather than talking but I hope what I mean came across.
Look at few minor things:
Grab mechanic - works horribly and can be timingly abused. Where mid grab animation gets canceled into the attack. This could prevent save or doing gen and give a killer upperhand - issue!
Grab mechanic part 2:
Survivor which has been downed at the exit gates most likely due to bad manners can be saved to exit by not being able to perform a grab on a guy who tries to revive. By either reviving or faking revive in intervals, downed survivor will slug out - It has not been addressed to this day.
From all survivor perks, 95% of the time DH BT DS IW COH. BT is good perk and I do not see any issue with it.
DH has been “fixed” and proven way OP. Up until “soon” nothing will change.
CoH has drastically increased surviving rate and efficiency, as you do not need 2 survivors off gens to perform a heal, but everybody can have an amazing selfcare.
QoL changes or improvements on killer side is almost zero to nothing. Not to even mention it took time, to even fix totem spots, where killer COULD NOT snuff the totem.
The game changes are making mostly useless 80% of killers roster - maps, dh, coh.
If others are having their opinion close to mine it makes it communites opinion which express community dissatisfaction which leads to dying game.
Because clearly, some still struggle with staying or leaving and some have left. Yes people come and go. It makes sense. But once there is more people leaving then coming, that is the red flag that something is wrong. Is it not enjoyable for survivors or killers?
Queue times represent ratio, and killers definitely suffer more. Every nerf tries to squeeze more effort from killers to achieve same result. So for every good result you eventually get punished.

Global averages are meaningless without the data behind them.
There's far too many variables. For all we know, it could be CoH and CoH alone that is pushing the global Kill Rates down.
They could've stopped counting DC's as Kills. We literally don't know.
CoH has definetly influenced a lot regarding general kills. Especially i feel disgusted if rng gives u linked pallet within boon zone. With medkit + predrops you can be healthy in <20s mid chase.
If and which is a honestly a must with DH pandemic, if it gets fairly nerfed, kill rates will go sky rocketing. Which will lead to new additions for survivors or waves of nerf on killer side.
It is not in balancing matches via SBMM.
The problem lies in mechanics, meta and maps.
As a killer I know that gens will flyby, hoping boon is not in a basement or a tower, and that every survivor is most likely running DH BT DS IW COH.
DH will always squeeze additonal lap or two in loops which after all take fair amount of time.
Going for 4K as objective will most likely require tunneling.
As a survivor I will most likely spawn on gen. Sit on gens for majority of time. Maybe have a chase or two. If I get hooked I need to be much more careful, as I might be obsession (being tunelled).
TLDR; Gen rush or tunneling is what is primary objective. Either way, it is not fun

So he addresses it at 1:09:10 in the original video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIocxDbQ-9g#t=1h9m10s
He doesn't say they ignore MMR to backfill. He says they massively prioritise speed, which I would interpret to mean the system literally pulls in whoever's in the queue with the closest value, regardless of their position in the queue. The survivor queue may be 10m, but if someone joins the queue at the right time, they may get pulled into a lobby to backfill it immediately if they're near enough the level for which the lobby was created.
That's a different thing to ignoring the MMR completely and pulling in anyone.
That said, there is a point where the two can and do overlap a lot, so depending on the actual scenario there may be little difference. But in fairness, the way he explains it (to my ears) sounds like it's still "respecting" the MMR levels, but it just becomes massively lax in the range of values it'll accept for a match for the case of a backfill (as opposed to having no criteria whatsoever).

You cannot proof it. It can also be selectized words by him. But you cannot deny facts as creating massive distance between mmr values and facts that your opponents has 16 hours ingame compared to somebody that has 2000. Which can be visible on profiles.
Which to my eyes it seems as it takes (almost) whole rooster or the algorithm cannot do its job due to lack on player base on one side.
And ps: I have not been working on mmr cases itself, but i was in development of AI / machine learning for almost a decade, so I do underastand the problem from developer and consumer side

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2768229#Comment_2768229
I think this is a misunderstood or misinterpreted point.
Every player has an MMR level or number... whatever you want to call it (well, more accurately, one number per killer and one to represent survivors, but I'm going to hope you guys understand the point without me having to mention all these specifics).
So, the system is trying to match you with people who are near enough your level. They may be slightly higher or lower, but this is all relative based on the range of possible values out there who are currently looking to match-make at the same time as you.
For argument's sake, lets put some real numbers in. Let's say your level is 2000, and the system determines everyone should be within +/-100 of this... so the system will try to find a killer and survivors who each have a level of 1900-2100.
But what if it can't find any? Maybe there's not enough killers to satisfy the survivor queue, etc... in this event the system "widens" its search criteria to anyone +/-200. And it keeps widening until it's found a match.
Again, imagine you're a killer who's achieved 1000 4ks in a row, you'll have a high MMR value. And you want to play at stupid o'clock in the morning when most people are asleep. It's possible there's no-one at your level, so again the system will widen the search criteria which will invariably mean you match with people well below your rank (and those poor shmucks will end up with a killer who'll destroy them!)
It's not that your level has been capped... there is no cap. They specifically stated there's no high or low value, and that would make complete sense in a self-calibrating system like MMR. As more matches are played, and skill levels diversify, the range of values will increase (which is why your actual number is irrelevant, what matters is where you are in relation to everyone else).
Rather, the system just becomes more liberal with finding matches, because it also doesn't want you to wait an absurdly long time for a game.
So the basic mechanics are:
1) If there are players near enough your skill level, you match with them
2) If there is no-one available, and it's been a while, you'll just get matched with the closest available
There are also edge cases where people are pulled in to fill in gaps in lobbies already created when one person leaves, etc, but that's generally how it works. There's no cap. There's just fluctuating tolerance the system applies to try to ensure you get into a game soonish.
Correction to 2) - BHVR QnA.
If there is nobody or somebody leaves = completely ignores MMR.
So if a full lobby has 2000 +/- 100
Killer leaves the lobby, the filler will be satisfied with killer who have just finished tutorial and wants to enter the world of dbd. SBMM does not sort killers by MMR desc and selects first available one
You as a gamer and developer. Your objective opinion, is the game in such state (from boons to DH and grab validations, size of the maps, speed of the gens etc…) is in fact suitable candidate for SBMM.
SWF has 15% more escape rate then soloQ. Comms do help a lot in the game. Even just by luring killer north while gens pop south .
In the aspect of the game, playing a killer is not something you can do to ease your mind and enjoy the game. As soon as you try to relax a bit, you will start to loose.
Queues are long as there is less killer population. So it makes sense in symmetrical game, where population is one, but here is logically divided. And as QnA dodged the question regarding ratio, in the average, i would not be suprised if its atleast 10:1
-
The problem lies as the SBMM in asymmetric 4v1 is never going to work to have a balanced matches as in any other symmetrical game. It is that quite easy farmer logic.
If you have a scale and on each side you put 1 weight it will be balanced. Add another to the other side and it will shifts to 1 side.
The MMR DOES fluctuate and this is a problem.
Lets make a silly assumption of SBMM
Killer faces a SWF coordinated teams who bring sweaty loadouts and map offerings.
The killer struggles, gets hooks,
maybe a kill. End of the story, he looses mmr.
Next round same scenario, and again, and again…
Eventually he drops for a grade. Now he will be according to the system in virtually less skilled area, where he will be doing 4Ks constantly. He will raise again, some matches balanced, some harder, some you win some you loose.
The pace of the game; How fast can gens be done, useless hexes, pressure by wounding is useless due to boons…
It brings more stress, cannot afford a single error which can be a turn table. Knowing that DH will always be squeezing 1 more time around loop before pallet drop, or able to get distance to safely enter a second loop.
The game is being balanced around 2K 2E which rarely happens.
The more killer tries to sweat, the more nerfs come from statistics.
And there you get 2 parallel limbos
Fluctuating grades where games are technically not balanced
The more time player invests mastering certain killer, the more nerfs he gets and is expected to have the same level of output
edit: As long as backfiller works that once somebody leaves, it fills its spot by ignoring mmr, sbmm does not work as intended

BHVR can clarify all they want but until they get a reporting system that doesn't belong in the 90s, let alone 2022, it's not going to matter.
I've used the report system once. It takes so long and you have to do so much to report someone that I could play one (maybe even two or three matches if it's a genrush game) that I don't even bother to do it anymore. I'm not going to waste my precious free time swatting some cheatbot that is going to pop up again five minutes after they finally get banned because it costs dollars to buy another cheat account.
I’ve seen the form. I am honestly not suprised that I had a match against iri 1 cheater - big beamer, flying and spamming infinity screams

The buttons are not "dummy buttons" first of all, they flag the match so that we can see it really took place.
The video evidence for hacking/cheating is definitely required, and we do not ban unless there is very clear evidence of the cheat.
(edit to add: could also have found a key in a chest on the map, this will not show in the end screen).
I have used this example. As it have happened to me.
The person did not have a key, and it was running toward exit gates. Close to the exit gates, I was eager to see what or how did he escape, but then the other survivor who ttv has left the spectating.
Video evidence is less valuable then active logs.

Your recap was far different than mine. I was just making a joke. Being a software developer for 16 years, myself. I know how it is. They are a in a tough spot, but these Q&A need a better format. Taking all the "Top" questions and then just not being able to answer them isn't much help. Maybe they should pick through all the questions they CAN answer.
Either way, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
I said in my video, it would be nice to see the stats broken down into All players, Top 66% (by MMR), and then Top 33%. That would give us a better idea of the state of the game at the various skill levels and how it changes as skill goes up.
I assume that it would bring a bad light onto them.
Its same as not giving at least average continental prime time or even rough daily K:S ratio.
I was a software developer for quite some time aswell, and I know the struggle you get when customer wants an upgrade or even a merge to other stack of some legacy/obsolete projects.
I would honestly change the approach of Q&A. Instead going on such manner, Id rather see that its formed as a discussion between BHVR and the fog whisperers. And instead talking abour numerous things just to have a debate on couple of topics

Yeah game is completely fine according to forum users! Don't you have fun going against Bubba or Blight every match?! Oh there must something wrong with you or you are simply bad if you don't find Dbd fun!
As much as it is fun to play against speedy gen rush and ds dh 4x almost every match.
If I see a SB or Lithe I am so happy, that if I manage to get 3K I offer that guy a hatch as a small gratitude.
And yes, I assume you have watch or noticed Patricks comparison of hokey and dbd.
TLDR;
Tunnel good, Hook 8x bad

Spaghetti code - they have no idea how half of methods work. Especially if they are used as virtual.
Lead designer doesnt seem to underastand the core game. Id be suprised even if he has it installed (out of office). Arrogance and the way he talks, it felt like his having a speech in kindergarten
Regarding some questions, some of the stuff is confidential and i agree. But dodging some questions is far worse then telling truth.
Killer stats are pointless, as it contains full spectre of players.
That kill ratio + % of picked twins compared to nerf regarding high mmr is pokos
