Personally I think every game should have an obsession regardless. Both sides would have to play around all potential obsession perks until they're eliminated one by one.
-
I would settle for a crude map overlay that showed totem placement and player movements, etc
-
I have a bunch but find that I get tunnelled and camped if I wear anything as the majority of cosmetics are apparently "toxic"...
-
It is rough but its so rewarding when you actually get it! You get a real sense of... achievement.
-

Sure thing. We get built in mori's to combat the 4 toolboxes or 4 flashlights
I'd much prefer if the killer saw each survivor in their default cosmetic, still holding items, but without names.

Besides, the march 10th date was announced on metacritic and other websites days prior, its not like people were completely unaware of a different release date.
Very true. But if it was known days ago why were we only official informed a few hours before a lot of people expected it?

Idk why the delay in the DLC is triggering so many people. Don’t you have other responsibilities or matters you should probably attend to ?
I think what they are upset about is that they planned their "responsibilities or matters" around the expected release date and then werent informed about the change until the day before.
I'm not too pushed myself though, they never announced a date so its kinda people own faults for expecting it to follow the pattern I guess
-
I'm fine. I find killer easier now than its been in a very long time.
I do get frustrated with bugs (ie the Wraith cloaking bug, etc) but thats about it.

Personally I think it's fantastic they are taking extra time before the release. It's awesome, and a move I didn't expect them to make.
While I'm delighted it seems they are taking extra steps to ensure releases are less buggy... I'm just frustrated that they communicated this only a few hours before a lot of people expected the release. Surely they knew a day or more ago and could have given players the heads up then?

So how can de ranking be stopped? I don’t know of any way that would be effective.
maybe you don’t increase the time to do gens, but you add another gen to the map, and increase total needed to power gates by one.
I think regardless of what you do, you are going to get derankers unless they make it really difficult to de rank.
The only way to really make de-ranking stop is to make ranking more appealing.
i.e. a multiplier to BP per game for certain ranks/Cells and Shards given for a period at a certain rank.
-
With the lack of any rank rewards, this would just encourage survivors to derank for fast and simple games.
-
with how difficult it was to implement the cosmetic alone, I do not expect any bells or whistles...
-
I mean they already kinda have? It now basically doesn't work for half the killer roster but allows them all to see you! Seems like a win to me?
-
I usually feel bad until I see the kill has max everything and UR addons but has smurfed to go against easier survivors...
-
The main reason I main killer is because the friends I started playing with back in the day have stopped playing =(
When I play killer I usually alternate between Freddy, Doctor and Wraith.
Freddy to just wipe the floor with survivors and feel powerful.
Doctor if i'm just chillin'
And Wraith to meme. Stay cloaked with Rancor, NOED and BW until the 4th gen pops and then let the fun begin!
-
I'm a fan of both but BK would be my pick if I had to choose one.
We'll Make It is very powerful but has a timer and an activation requirement. BK does not. I prefer perks that are consistent throughout. Plus, with how prevalent slugging is now BK seems to be the winner.

Hi,im really having a really hard time playing killer because of the infinite loops, tbaggers, toxic survivor but i really want to improve my killer experience, any advice to make the game less stressful? I main Myers but i sometime play leatherface and ghostface too, most of the time i got bully by OP Survivors and then they tbag and call me noob, etc
One of the biggest thing I found to help my killer gameplay was, ironically, playing survivor. Once you know how to play one side you see their limitations and can use that to your advantage. Similarly, your killer experience will transfer to your survivor games.
I know playing with survivors of a different skill level can be very frustrating but its also the best way to get better faster. Playing against lower skilled players maybe fun to cheese an easy win but you wont improve by doing so.
Something else I would suggest is to not fall into the trap of having default perks. Yes, some perks are on average better than others. But each killer is unique and different and having different perks on different killers will also make a world of difference.
Playing KYF will also help you to practice some techniques and learn some different strats.
-
Mine would be: The Banshee
She walks around the map, almost flowing, as a beautiful red headed woman. When she uses her ability the colour drains from her body and hair and her face becomes disfigured.
Her charged ability "Concussive Blast" causes all survivors within a 36m range to crouch in agony. Any action being performed is interrupted with slight regression as if a failed skill check occurred.
Her other ability "Wailing Scream" allows her to send a focused scream directly in front of her, slowing down or injuring the survivor depending on the distance. Can also be used to shatter pallets.
Mori: She picks up the suvivor and gently caresses the side of their face before her hair colour drains and she screams directly in the survivors face. Initially the survivors eyes and ears hemorrhage blood, but as the scream intensifies and pitch changes the skin in blasted from their head. All that remains is the bloody remnants of the skull. (not sure how possible it would be to implement due to textures, etc. If not this they could just show the survivors head from behind and blood spraying from the sides to imply this)
Edit: Spelling error

Ranking is awful right now, primarily for killers. I played 3 killer matches yesterday back to back against a full team of red rank survivors and I was at rank 10 killer.
Now fortunately, I just happen to be good at both sides so I still got a 2k in one game, a 3k in another, and there was one match where all of them got away. But I can imagine for someone who is actually rank 10, it'd be a mess
I'm struggling to discern what is ranking issues and what is caused by the challenges.
I'm red rank killer and was playing a game last night (the 4 survivors were all different colour ranks). Without any gens completed they were bodyblocking first hooks and going down for it (while I still got the hooks because I was right there). They were hook bombing and the unhooked were rushing me. It was insane! Only one survivor tried to do gens. All I could think was the "protection hit" challenge but they left without saying.
I've also had games as red rank survivor where teammates would hide in lockers when the killer is chasing someone across the map. Its a huge benefit to the killer when survivors dont contribute to the match.
-
I dont believe either side needs to follow any specific "rulebook".
The only thing I wish both sides would remember is that youre playing with real people and to treat them as you would like to be treated. Toxicity breeds toxicity. Kindness breeds kindness. If we all start to be nicer to eachother I would hope this game and community would become friendlier and more welcoming overall.
-
I never understood people complaining about the other side using their perks to the best of their ability.
I also enjoy ensuring I deny their use of same. I slug the unhooked survivor if they run straight to me after an unhook or just go for the unhooker and deny their BT or DS (I mean its hella obvious when they have it. Why fall for the trap?). I cleanse all totems I come across to deny NOED.
Anything that is actually broken does get changed (MoM for instance).
I agree with everything OP said here. The game is the most balanced its ever been. If people cant see that then they're just hella new and dont remember what it was like when the game came out and cant see all the changes that have been made to both sides.
My main gripe with the game at the moment is the ranking system.

@SleepyWillo first reason second chance :D second reason troll killer when all gens repaired and gates opened
do you not think the survivors should have some way to counter tunnelling and camping? otherwise what's to keep all killers from doing it ever game?
Your issue seems to be the use of these perks to counter tunnelling and camping at endgame. does it matter at what stage the killer tunnels and camps? shouldn't there be a chance for survivors to counter this?
-
instead of trying to address the "anti-tunnel perks" - why not address the reason those perks are used to begin with?
-
Although Thrilling Tremors cooldown is a bit long, the perk itself does 100% require a cooldown of some form.
Yes, you are limited to the number of hooks per game but not limited in amount of downs (until survivors start bleeding out).
I know for a fact if TT had no CD it would be spammed excessively.
-
I mean you don't HAVE to grab them. You can wait it out. You an slug. You can't eat it early. You can not tunnel. You have options.

Agreed, it's because the devs are pushing way too much content out and are burning themselves out. If we had 2 big content updates a year instead of 4, the perks would actually be good instead of ok at best.
Even if they dropped down to 3 new chapters a year that would give them more time to be more creative and also allow them time to fix the actual game.
-
OG MoM > Skill Check Ruin
Not a very fair trade off.
If MoM changed to the 2nd PTB version that gained token through safe unhooks then maybe... Or if ruin was not a hex totem bit i know a lot of people would have an izsie with that too...

Just wait till it goes on sale for 1,050 AC and BHVR are shocked that not everyone buys it...

you're talking about all survivors working on gens. what happens when one is on hook and one is being chased? one has to go for the unhook while the other (hopefully for the survivors) is working on gens.
Move that to when at least one survivor is dead/dc'd. If gens take 2mins each nobody is getting out. nobody would even attempt gens and would just hide in the hopes of getting hatch.
don't get me wrong, gen speeds need to be looked at and I'm glad to see the devs are looking into it. but blacket buffs/nerfs wont help the game as a whole.
-
just leave. you don't have to use it.
This is the equivalent of saying "im on a diet so you can't eat donuts"
-
To be fair the matchmaking screws both sides. I've killed rank 16s as a red rank killer countless times and felt very guilty once I saw the end screen

DS is just as much a crutch. I rewards poor choices on the part of survivor just like NOED does for killer. You can't get mad about killers one second chance perks when survivors have like 6 some of which can be used at the same time.
I don't think it's fair to say ds rewards bad choices on the survivor (At least not the survivor using it). I use it in solo for when the killer tunnels or a "teammate" farms me. This game was designed to be a 4 v 1 but solo survivor feels more like you're against the killer and other survivors.
As killer I have no problem with DS. I don't tunnel. Simple. Or I have the brain cells to know who was uncooked in the last 60 seconds and the cop on not to pick them up.
As for NOED I think it's fine. It rewards a killer for playing with only 3 perks. Survivors can just do totems.
At the end of the day both perks are used to counter aspects both sides complain about the most - tunnelling and gen rush.

Balance both? Lmao
NOED is literally DS for killers, both reward you for your opponent playing well and require no effort or plan to be activated.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1094729#Comment_1094729
How the hell am I supposed to know how many totems did my teammates do?
The only issue I have with the NOED v DS comparison is that DS is used to help a survivor not get tunneled once. I dont know of a fairer way to do that...
-
I mean the fact that hit detections are based on the killers side, even on dedicated servers, would surely indicate it's not?

It sounds like you haven't read the post. I'd recommend reading what I actually said before commenting. It makes you look smarter.
I'm not going to lie - I'm not entirely sure what points you were trying to make. From my interpretation you were just saying killer is unfun mainly due to maps and survivor perks are over powered? I disagree. You want killers to have luck offerings to ensure killers get more kills? Devs have said killers are basically going over the desired 2k average they said they're aiming for. If I've missed something or misinterpreted than please clarify for me. Thanks.
-
Not agreeing with much here... Certain maps do need to be looked at BUT killer is easier now than it's ever been. I don't know what people want. Do you want survivors to spawn on the hooks? I'm red ranks and even with 4man swfI can reliably get at least 3k. Latest statistics released showed most killers getting about 70% kill rate (nurse was the outlier at around 40% iirc). Do you need 100% kill rate to be happy? Sometimes you just have to understand you got outplayed and move on...

Yikes, complains killer perks, 3 killers into the ground working on the 4th....
"Killers are whiney" Chief called to tell me to tell you that ain't it.
DS is free... Sorry not sorry it is. Not only do you always have to worry about it, so you either slug or eat it. Hope that's fun to play against.
BT is just built stupidly. The person who has the perk should benefit not the unhooker. Duh.
DH is fine, make it more responsive for survivors and take away dead Harding over traps because... What?
Your DS complaints are the same that survivors say about NOED. At least with DS you have the obsession to let you have a heads up.
BT used to benefit the uncooked also. Its current version is the fairest and most balanced...

I know because I play both sides, and I get tunneled and camped.
BUT the moment you start doing objectives, you CANT expect the killer to not go for you.
NOT tunneling as a killer means LETTING SURVIVIOR DO WHAT HE WANTS. And you can do that as a killer, but not if a sirviviorbstarts working on a generator. Killer CANT ignore a survivior working on a generator.
So, if you dont want to be tunneled, RUN AWAY after getting rescued, dont to a gen 5 meters from the hook, dont heal under hook, dont hide in a bush 5 meters from the hook. Just. Run. Away. After you are sure that killer has lost you, start healing, repairing whatever.
If a survivor is being unhooked in your face - you should be able to get a free hit in during it. That makes both injured and basically a hook trade (unless youre actively trying to tunnel one person out of the game).
The only thing I can see potentially working would be to have the DS timer pause if slugged. This would stop the killer downing the unhooked and then going for the unhooker to void DS (in your situation if I've read that right). Only then would it make sense to not let the survivor do gens with DS (would still need to let them do altruistic actions/cleanse totems though)

Or they could nerf gen speeds or give survivor a second objective
Some killers are getting higher than an average of 70% kill rate per games. If gens are made to take longer or a second objective is added they'd have to balance by nerfing all killers across the board... The only thing I can think is to have gens progress faster the fewer that remain - this was its not overly daunting when a survivor dies as you'd have ~2 gens done by then. But I dont know how that would work with the DCing epidemic...

I wouldnt bother. They dont seem interested in a discussion. Merely yelling "survivor main" at those of us that dont tunnel/camp so we dont have an issue with survivors wasting a perk slot lol
-
@DocFabron said:
Why is Dead Hard in the center for nerfs now? Bait it.
DS needs a nerf. BT needs to NOT work when the killer doesn't even have a chance to walk away. Give it a 10 second timer after somebody is hooked before it activates and remove the TR requirement.
The only change I think that would actually change how BT is used (for the better) is to make it so that if the killer hits the survivor with the Endurance buff that its no longer a "Safe Unhook". This would make survivors use it for its actual purpose as they would get no points boost for farming their teammates with it.

What?
Survivior doing a gen in your face? Go after the unhooker!
Do you see what I see here?
I thought killer was supposed to stop surviviors from doing gens, not chase around surviviors that are doimg nothing and let the rest repair all they want... But maybe Im playing it wrong...
I see that you quoted me twice? And edited the 1st quote to use as the second?
Do you understand that youre actually playing with real people? And not with AI bots? Do you understand that getting camped and tunneled aren't fun for anyone? All the perks listed have work arounds. And they have fairly specific and limited conditions to trigger. If youre not camping or tunneling they wont even come into effect!
No matter what changes are suggested and implemented it will result in one of two things.
- The perks will be changed and survivors will find the most effective way to use them. People will complain. And we're back to square one with nothing changing.
- The perk will be dead and nobody will use them. If theres no way to combat camping and tunneling then nobody will play.

Survivor main not understanding the problems of those perks..
Actually I play both sides (though more killer these days since my friends are getting a bit burned out). What you seem to not understand is the reason those perks exist in the first place. They were designed to stop/punish killers that tunnel/camp. If you can come up with a *fair* solution that actually helps with those issues I will be happy to listen. Until then its probably best to leave it alone...

I am a green rank killer. Git gud, I know. Every match I am against red/purple survivors these days, nothing else. I started playing bubba with noed and bloodwarden and just hard camp now after the first down. It's actually a lot more fun than getting ######### on by people several skill tiers above me, and I am getting a 2k or more on average. I suggest everyone facing the same frustrating and broken matchmaking do the same.
I don't support spreading toxicity. IF I have toxic players in one game I don't blame the players of a different game. I employ the motto "innocent until proven guilty". That said, when I see survivors try to bully me because they think im new - i will kill them to the last man. Its just funny how i can be obviously farming with 3 players and the Blendette messages after to "got gud nub" >.<

DECISIVE STRIKE
- Hooking a different Survivor reduces the remainder of DS timer by 20 seconds.
- DS deactivates when get interrupted (from a gen for instance so Survivors Will be less cocky) or when grabbed from a locker.
BORROWED TIME
- Introduce the Critical Health State which is applied if the Survivor under the Endurance effect from Borrowed Time is hit
- In the Critical State Survivors have 20 seconds to heal themselves. The timer expires in eaxtly the same conditions the Deep Wound timer does
- Survivors will have to find other Survivors to get healing or heal themselves with a med kit, Self Care or Inner Strength
- These changes should happen to make Survivors use BT effect only if it is neccesary
DEAD HARD
- Reduce the speed boost.
No.
DS is already easy to work around. Survivor doing a gen in your face? Hit them instead of grab. Or better yet - go after the unhooker!
BT doesn't expire while in a chase to encourage killers not to tunnel once BT proc'd.
How does anyone complain about DH on dedicated servers?? It's almost unusable. IF a survivor gets it to proc then just bait it ffs.
If you're struggling with basic tactics like not tunnelling and camping then you just need to play more. The game shouldn't be brought down to new players level.
-
They couldnt really tell before. Ruin was so inconsistent - it could last 5seconds or all game.
At least now they will be able to gather actual reliable data
-
No. They have said various game modes would take too much work to balance.
