the only issue I have with Freddy is his BT immunity. I don't believe any killer should have the abilityto camp/tunnel without any form of repercussion
-
IIRC they said you could reach the end of the tome - not necessarily 100% complete it - but reach the end through some path. That's why character specific challenges are on the edges to bot block the path. They also said perks for specific challenges would be on the Shrine to help with this.
-
Definitely survivors.
Killers have a job to do. I can understand them resorting to underhanded tactics if things aren't going well for them. But when I'm going against a scummy killer with sandbagging teammates... that's just BS.
Worst I've had was two survivors block the gates by squatting beside eachother so I couldn't get past. Other was a teammate that trapped me in a locker by doing the open locker mechanic (after I went in to heal with inner strength after being tunnelled). For some reason his open locker always trumped my leave locker. I was trapped until the killer came back and surprisingly went for me...
-
So a killer with meme perks and who made plenty of mistakes should auto 4k against a coordinated team using "optimal" perks and items...? Am I missing something?
-
Didn't they say before that all survivors are bi?
-
Soon you won't see ranks so you won't know it's broken 😂

Except again, the devs have said those stats are for entertainment purposes only and to be very careful when coming to any conclusion by the data as they don't tell the full story.
We know how that data was taken, and we know why the kills were inflated to be as high as they were. By the same logic if we're accepting those stats as fact, we must say that this data is accurate when we know for a fact it isn't and why it wasn't and tells a completely different story:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/371/9SFSAY3D92FW.png
It's incredibly unfair to cherry pick and weave a false narrative with stats we know that are false just because it suits your personal agenda. Stop it.
IIRC youve posted the old stats. Average kill rate in the latest released stats was 70% at red ranks.
I do imagine these include suicides on first hook (but not games with DCs) and will likely have changed since the mid chapter patch, but from what we've seen most recently that's accurate

Ruin is gone games are going faster it dosnt matter if your good if the survivors are good and optimal swf then you don’t stand a chance especially on mothers dwelling or a corn map with a low mobility killer
If the survivors were actually optimal than ruin was a waste of a perk slot. Good survivors either worked through it and never missed a hex skill check, of they know the spawn location of all totems. It's just not that good.
Against non-skilled survivors who don't know totem spawns or how to hit skill checks it was powerful but inconsistent.

Except that only 1 or 2 of them reached over 65%... And btw anything under 75% is still an average of 2.
Also survivors been getting easier and easier just by virtue of certain new perks exisiting.
If 74% of survivors escaped each match would you still say it's fine as it's averaging at 2?
-
Killer is easier now than it's ever been. If you're struggling still I don't know what to tell ya
-
"get better swf isnt common 1/20 etc."
-
Sometimes I try to mix things up and set different challenges/goals. I'll play NOED Wraith and stay hidden until 4 or 5 gens are done. Then I'll see how many kills I can get. You'd be surprised how fun and freeing it is to play by your own rules.

It's literally just an overreaction to ruin. You didn't miss much.
I honestly thought there had to have been something else I just wasnt aware of... If thats the case its really sad...
-
I feel a lot of survivors deliberately DC to rob killers of BBQ stacks. This change could reduce some DCs also.
If done I would like to see survivors also get WGLF stacks when a teammate DCs.
-
It could be SWF but even then this isn't good for new players being brought in by existing players

Yes. Yes. Yes!
Also: the timer should exist individually for each survivor. Let’s be fair: if you are solo and on the other side of the map working a gen or healing and the gates are powered you need time time get there.
But: as soon as you ENTER the exit gate, the timer drops to 5 seconds and if you don’t leave, that gate is sealed TO YOU. Others can still exit it.
I'm just going to say no to that. Survivors, in my experience, generally don't wait at gates to be toxic. Typically they are trying to ensure their teammates make it out. I don't think you can expect them to play as a team and then abandon that team near the end.

Thank you for your suggestions. My biggest issues has been ending chases. They’re too long and I need time to hook each person once. I will make sure to use snares.
If chases are the issue then spirit fury /enduring can be a great combo! and bamboozle can help with loops also

If 4 survivors die to a Mori, chances are they were dead from the start.
Far from it. If the survivors are mori'd on first hook that's about 1/3rd of your objective as killer. If survivors escape with 5gens done that's basically all their objective done.

I posit the question to you. If the gates are opened (by killer or survivor). Why as the killer should I be forced to wait on people to leave and AFK? If you are full health and sitting in the exit gates you've won the game. At that point you are being a troll but the report system in DbD has and always will be a joke for situations like that.
Depending on the game i might wait at the gates. Either to ensure everyone makes it out or to give the killer some free hits. When I was a new killer (or if I play killers I suck at for dailies) I generally appreciate it if I struggled

I will definitely use him. What perks would you use with him for this? Thanks for your help.
Perks are a very personal thing. What works for me may not work for others. It also depends on what areas you struggle with and what perks youre comfortable with. Example: if your issue is finding people than BBQ and whispers would be very useful. I do Pop Goes The Weasel and Tinkerer can be a nice combo. I also like Thanatophobia and Sloppy Butcher.
The only thing I really would suggest is to use snares over fake pallets. They're much better for ending chases.
-
I don't think you're understanding the point of EGC. It's not to give you kills or help you out. It's to make the game endso people don't hide for 30mins to troll. If it's reduced it would mean that survivors wouldn't be able to attempt saves at the endgame. Those attempts help both sides. I've seen killers go from 1 hook to max BBQ stacks and a few deaths from saves. Plus those points during EGC are worth more than early game.

I know I need to hook everyone once to get Bronze, but I keep getting matched with SWF groups and survivors that are so high ranked. I haven’t even gotten 1 bronze emblem so 5 still to go. I’m a mediocre killer at best and currently at 16. I’ve been using the Doctor to try him out, but which killer would you recommend for this? The Doctor’s reach sucks. Which killer has the best speed + best reach? Thank you in advance!
I personally find Freddy the best for that. Map pressure, chase ending, etc. He's a great killer and easy to complete all non killer specific challenges on

They can just reduce the timer to 45 seconds and reduce the stun to 4 seconds to be in line with headon. If you are having that much trouble just slug...
reducing the stun would make the perk pretty useless. There's a reason they changed enduring to just be for pallet stuns. If the stun is reduced the survivor would just be Insta downed again.
I never have issues with ds as a killer. just don't tunnel. If you're not tunnelling and still get ds then you're wiping the floor with them, so why complain?

Key nerf when as well, then. If they nerf one they have to nerf the other. Both give unfair means to end the game early.
I always viewed Insta heals as the equivalent yo mori's. And instas are already nerfed yo the ground.
Keys aren't that bad. If 4 survivorsescape via hatch than they were likely getting out anyway.
-
They have said no. It would be far too difficult to balance around and would double the work required to balance the game. Maybe, once the original game is actually balanced fully they would consider it, but as of now? No. Not happening.
-
I've stopped bringing in items when I play survivor. Killers will call yoiu toxic and tunnel/camp you no matter what you bring. FL =toxic. Toolbox=Genrush. Keys = OP (even if green with obs addon). Medkits = Free health states. You cant win. I've been tunnelled for finding a green key in chests in game lol
-
They did comment that its rarely used - at least when compared to other perks like self-care

Its not that people don’t recognize “gen rushing” it’s that most killers on here want to claim their losses as “I got gen rushed”. When many times it is not the case at all.
Rushing a gen doesn’t mean it is toxic either. At some points you have to try to out pace the killer if everyone is getting hooked left and right with no gens done. How in the world is that toxic??
Also, I don’t see how Tunneling is the same thing when you lose the game because you tunnel, in most cases.
I had a game against a Plague where she had thana, ruin (wasn't cleansed until all gens were done), Dying Light and NOED. They complained we gen rushed. NOED never proc'd because all totems were cleansed (besides guarded ruin). We did everything available and it wasn't a fast match. Some people just fling catchy phrases to justify wins/loss
-
I have long queue times for both sides. I find that time of day can be a factor though.
-
Cant really tell for certain that these were actually BHVR employees and not people memeing. I know if i worked for bhvr and wanted to play this game i sure as hell wouldnt advertise i was an employee! especially with how this community is! you'd either get tunnelled/camped/insta moried (esp on ptb where offerings don't matter) or just get trash talked and harassed in endgame - regardless of how you play.
IIRC didn't they say in a stream somewhere that they play weekly so nobody is out of touch with the game (paraphrasing here).
If they're rank 20 survivors they could be rank 1 killers. or just new employees.
regardless, I wouldn't put much stock in this actually being bhvr employees or it having any effect on anything.

Duh.
Bit of a stretch to say there werent any dc if survivors keep skipping those punishments by hook suicide.
Anything between 50% and 74% ist still less than an average of 3 kills. With high ranks needing 3-4 kills to JUST NOT DROP RANK.
An average high killrate per player is still preferable to an average high escape rate per player. Good thing survs dont need to escape to pip.
Would you say the same if killers were only getting 26% to 50%? Doubt.
Your main argument seems to be an issue with pipping, which I agree needs to be adjusted for both sides.
(as a slightly off topic - some of those adept killer achies were a pain in the A with how the ranking system works. Kill too fast? Survivor DC? Try to drag it out but someone finds a key? Sucks to be me 😂 )

On 2 killers in high ranks where a high killrate is required to stay in those ranks.
High rank killers will ever have high stats else those killers dropped to mid ranks.
IIRC Didn't all killers, with the exception of one, have a kill rate that was over 50%? Some of which were pretty heavily over the 50% at that.
Note: Games with a DC do not count towards these statistics.

Because I can play with 1 Tier 1 Perk on a fresh level 1 Survivor and still walk out of a match in the high purples/low reds with 15k+ and a pip. Not every match, but I've been doing this with my new characters and have gone from Rank 15 -> Rank 4 with ease, mostly dying of course, but not as often as I thought I would.
Trying that at even Rank 12/13 as a Killer, and I have to sweat to not depip. Get good BP, which is what I am looking for, but not ranking down is difficut in the exact same situation. Level 15 with 4 Perks is when it eases up a bit.
Isn't that just a pipping/emblem issue? Not exactly a "power role" issue
-
Weirdly my killer queues take longer than my survivor queues... Though that might have something to do with the odd hours I keep/play.
I wouldn'tjump to massive conclusions this early. A lot of people also have rift burn out and are taking a small break anyway.
Give it a week or two and we'llbe better able to see the effects.

I mean I get it though. most other items are pretty useless. plus keys are somewhat harder to see so less chances we'd bring Franklin's for it

Big brains plays. Can't complain bout matchmaking if you can't see rank :D.
I personally deranked as killer from red 4 to purple 5 but I still get 4 rank 1 survivors. So it's pointless. I just embrace the sweat.
Unfortunately that would actually be the matchmaking system working as intended! its designed to be +/-6 ranks. So at rank 5 you coukd be matched with anything from rank 1 to rank 11. As bad as that system is, the matchmaking is pairing up people far outside those parameters!
-
They're going to stop you from seeing endgame ranks so you won't know it's even broken anymore 😂
-
All these people saying "I need ruin to have a chance against good survivors at red ranks" - what good survivors care about ruin at red ranks? Almost all good survivors can just work through it. It's literally a waste of a perk slot against good players. The only issue I've seen with it is when experienced players bring new friends into games and the newbs haven't seen a skill check before

Why wouldn't it be? There have been so many killer nerfs recently.
There really hasn't been... Freddys rework was a HUGE buff. Spirits is barely noticeable. Nurse was a little unfair, but other than that? And before you even say it; The Ink wasn't nerfed. He wasn't working as intended on PC as he was on other platforms. They fixed him to work like every other platform...

55% kill rate is still fairly balanced, out of 20 games 2 survivors survive 19 times on average. I don't think the kill rate goes up by much, the majority of times it's already at a good level.
Exactly! Its not very unbalanced! So I dont understand why people think it needs to be reworked before more broken maps such as Hawkins, The Game and Lerys!

Statistics in this game make no sense if they are not divided by ranks. At low ranks, killers get way more kills. At high ranks, killers get way fewer kills. So yeah, baby killers can probably do really well on ALL maps vs. baby survivors but that doesn't mean anything for the community as a whole.
Even statistics for red ranks showed that survivor escape rates were less than 50% (these statistics do not include games with disconnects)...
From Peanuts:
"The average kill rate for- according to kill rates- the weakest killer on the worst map at rank 1 is only 54.90% (45.1% escape rate). That kill rate only goes up from there for stronger killers and more killer favored maps."
-

Its important to keep in mind a few things with the statistics.
First of all, DC's count as kills, and kills made it DC games also count. The immediate loss of a survivor will often snowball games, and I don't think anyone can argue that DC'ing isn't prevalent enough to influence the stats. ***This artificially inflates the kill rate.***
Secondly, kills made at any point in time are counted equally. This means games where killers are pulling hair and teeth to get 2 kills is valued equally to a killer game where two people suicide on hook and the killer farms with the remaining survivors.
Thirdly, and I cannot stress this enough, just because you killed the survivor and technically won, DOESNT MAKE THE KILLER EXPERIENCE ENJOYABLE. I can honestly say I've had games where people escaped and I've had more fun than games where I get everyone and have a troubling or frustrating round.
Finally, I'd just remember that since the exit gates have to be powered for more than one survivor to escape (with the exception of keys) 3ks will also be slightly more common than a 2 or 1 kill game. Just because maps lean into 60% doesn't mean that the map is particularly unbalanced or unfun to play on. On the other hand, a 50% kill rate on rotten fields means the gate is getting powered almost every game theoretically. Or, even worse, that there are enough 0k 4 man escapes go balance out killers who preform well.
There's just so many things that skew the stats that its not worth making such arguments off of them.
Firstly, NO game including a disconnect is used for the statistics.
Secondly, yes. Easy kills and difficulty kills are both counted. I dont see an issue with this.
Thirdly, I am not talking about which side is enjoyable. M1 simulator cant be much fun for those playing survivor either.
Fourthly, that doesnt make sense. 0ks obviously arent balancing it out if the average is 69%. To me, if the gates are being powered, it means that a full game has likely been played by most players. This is a good thing. Its better than a 4k with 5gens remaining (obviously too easy for the killer and too difficult for the survivors).

Okay forget arguing over stats for a second. How about we look at how much harder it is for killer to rank up. How killers are required to grind more for perks than survivor. How killers always lose their addons while survivors get to keep theirs if they escape.
Ranking is an emblem/ranking system issue. I agree it is horribly broken and should be looked into.
What do you mean "killers are required to grind more for perks than survivors"? Killers get more BP than survivors (which I assume is why survivors can keep some addons if they escape with the item they brought in provided it isnt depleted). Also the "if they escape" is a pretty big thing considering how few survivors escape (according to statistics - I know you said to ignore them but I cant!)

So you think survivor shoukd be made even easier? Why exactly? Because new players die frequently to ANY killer, regardless of the map.
If you make the game easier for them, you make it harder for every new killer who makes it to green ranks. And what will they do? They'll leave, or stop playing killer and only play survivor, which heightens queue times even further either way.
I get that we can not ignore new players, but balancing around them ruins the experience for everyone else. Bhvr should do what Hi-Rez did (though I doubt they made this up), where new players have to play between 5 and 10 matches with other new players and against some bot(s). This way new players can get practice, experience and most importantly blood points without being turned away by killers who have even a little bit of experience.
I dont think survivor needs to be "made even easier". I do think that a 50:50 ratio of escapes:kills is what is needed for this game to thrive. However that is achieved I would support it.
I do like the Hi-Rez idea. I've wanted a bot training system in this game for so long (especially when I was learning how to play nurse).
I am in no way saying the game should be balanced around new players - and I'm sorry if anything I typed led you to interpret that. I however dont think the entire game should only be balanced around us few at red ranks. Nor should they focus on those brand new to the game.
Even as a basic business model it would not make sense to cater to the elite few. BHVR would want to cater to everyone as best as possible. Even though that is unlikely as its almost impossible to do, they would likely try to cater to the majority of the player base, be it purple or green ranks.
-
@Hopesfall said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/955127#Comment_955127
why shouldn't it be balanced around red ranks? those players generally know what to do with a given map layout. they can abuse bad map design.
new players don't, and they die.. pretty simple logic here.
Again, by that logic, you could say new killers dont know how to run jungle gyms, pressure gens, end a chase, etc and lose... "pretty simple logic here"
Ideally the game should be balanced around all ranks. The people in this thread havent been asking for any such thing. The statistics we have indicate one thing. Everybody seems to want to ignore that and go completely in the opposite direction. I honestly dont understand that...
-

if you've ever taken a statistics class you know you can make stats say whatever you want them to say.
just because it has a kill rate of X doesn't mean anything of substance.
Play the maps as killer in red ranks multiple times and still come back and say all the maps are killer sided.
By that reasoning the statistics could also have been made to make it look like killers are actually weaker than they are.
And I have played all maps in red ranks multiple times. I've actually been playing more killer than survivor lately (so technically cant claim to really be a 50:50 player anymore either) as it was just easier to complete the rift that way.
I do have preferences when it comes to certain maps. I imagine everyone does. I do get frustrated with certain loops also. But I dont go into a game as a killer and think that I've already lost due to a specific map.
-
@PistolTimb said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/955062#Comment_955062
Those statistics have no context whatsoever. The majority of maps are entirely survivor sided when considering how strong the loops are, how many there are, how big they are, and how fast generators can be finished. The only reason those numbers could possibly be over 50% is if they include ALL ranks, which skews the numbers.
This game cannot and should not be balanced solely around red rank players. Newer players would never play the game and the game would just die off. The game should take all ranks into account. I do not see an issue with doing this.
Even if we focus on only rank one games, statistics released show that survivors have less than a 50% survival rate.

The devs are known to be biased liars so I suspect they're counting console kill rates in their stats to intentionally skew it to make killers appear too strong. That or as I've suggested, counting DC's which is very likely. If you've ever played killer out of brown ranks you would understand.
They do include console statistics (though they have statistics separated by PC, XBox and PS4).
Even if they did, killers have generally been weaker on console than on PC and that would only make killers appear weak with lower kill rates if it was included as such...
