  • Happened to me twice this week. I play as usual and then I am kicked for no apparent reason. Even the game does not tell me why or anything.

Despite being very well-received (well, mostly) I’ve only met a couple of people who actually main Dredge, which is confusing because when it came out I saw a ton of threads talking about how fun Dredge is and praising BHVR for designing it.

Maybe I’m just not paying enough attention but it seems like Dredge quickly just faded away without anyone really sticking around to play them.

I cannot main a killer that is responsible for killing a beloved character from the game. Rest in Peace, Maurice.

The specific match that made me post this, the Meyers did take the entire match to build it up. It was seriously about 10 - 13 minutes. Don't remember the sounds, I just remember every teammate dying back to back and I was the only one left with no damage and couldn't even get to the hatch because he doesn't even have to hit you, he just grabs you and you're dead. I've encountered it about a half dozen times in the last two months. Maybe it's not always Tombstone? I only played as Meyers once back when you could earn a trial to play as other killers through the blood web of the killers. What I mean is, maybe I've seen them Mori someone with just a regular mori and assumed it was Tombstone. Either way, it's had the effect that as soon as a Meyers Mori's someone, I want to DC, and I know I'm not the only one because I watch people do it all the time. I'm not saying they should get rid of the ability, just tweak it. Make them have to still two hit you so there can be a chase. One hit is just garbage for survivors.

Bro, 13 minutes you could be doing gens and you are out. He built It Up because you allowed him to do so.

  • That would not help a lot. I think that what Sadako needs is the speed boost Wraith gets when he decloaks. She is slower while demanifested than Wraith, is not fully invisible and becomes slower when she manifests and then goes back to regular speed. She does have the speed boost when comming out of a TV, but in chase that is not that helpful.

So you want them doing gens instead of memeing with Head On? But then they’re toxic genrushers? So are they just now allowed to do, anything that is annoying to killer? Head On is one of the the worst if not the worst exhaustion perks in the game. If you’re losing to that it seems like the squad isint the problem it’s you.

Yeah, It does not matter when in-chase you are led to two lockers that are toghether with a person with Head On inside each. And you have no other option than going through there or else you will loose the survivor. I am talking of Dead Dawg's second floor. If you drop chase there you may loose the survivor. The "git gud" does not apply here, buddy. And take in count that SWF groups heal faster due to their coordination and perks oriented to be a pain. The result, if you try to avoid the stuns, may be endless chases while they have a guy always doing gens. And if you daré chase that Guy, another one starts repairing while the other two make sure you are in hell. This has happened to me some time ago and I could do nothing although I was trying my best. I assume you support survivor empowerment.

But the topic is not about slugging as a strategy. Is when there is only one surv left and the killer slugs just to see his/her bleed out. Even if you had unbreakable/exponential, if the killer is next to you, you will go down again so its pointless to continue

Tenacity( to find hatch easier) + adrenaline ( in case he finds hatch and closes It). If you are downed in the endgame, just wait for the timer to run out. Again, you have the option to prepare for these situations. What else can I say? "Git gud" so this does not happen?

  • I guess that the slingers that you have not seen were all busy going after me. My gosh, four matches of survivor against Deathslinger, one after the other.

  • Patience is needed from the survivor side. Slugging is a valid tactic after all. When you play a match you are expected to consider the risks in It. The killer may slug, tunnel and/or camp you. He may have NOED. There is an antislug build in the game. Use Tenacity and unbreakable and you will be difficult to slug. But if you do not do that, then you should consider that it was your choice not to be ready for that. Therefore, It depends on you, and DCing because of something that is your fault... Well, you should be accountable for that.

  • Lethal Pursuer only works at the beginning of the match and in combos. The buff made it more useful than before, as a perk that only works at the beginning of the match is useless for most of the game. The buff was necessary, if you ask me, as without it the perk would be dead with very few exceptions.

  • So a perk that is useful again after some time gets killed, while a situational combo that was pretty fun (for me at least) gets changed by a slightly nerfed version of another more abusive combo, a perk that was useful for survivors but requires buildup gets abosultely destroyed, Kenneth returns, a hellish glyph is removed and a meassure that was meant to make queues shorter is postponed.

What is happening to the game these days? 6.1.0 was great and made necessary changes, but this is a step backwards. What is comming next, Dead Hard returning to its previous version? I would have left the game untouched for a bit regarding buffs and nerfs.

A change for thana that would have been better would be making survivors with Deep wound and/or with the Broken effect not count. Like this , survivors with No Mither and that cannot heal would also be treated more fairly by Thana, as they cannot do anything to fight its effects.

  • The thing is that Myers has to build up that power, and it sometimes requires time for him, unless survivors are toghether. It's basically trying to avoid feeding the monster too much by breaking his line of sight constantly. I know a Myers can be annoying sometimes, but he depends on the survivors following lame strategies to access his power while using the environment to hide and stalk more efficiently. To prevent that just try to be on your own and mind your surroundings. And if you see that white mask, try to evade his sight. As someone who often plays Myers, I struggle to reach Tier III when survivors do this, and Myers is most of the time a M1 killer with a short terror radius, which is pretty weak in chases.

  • I have been facing lots of Nemmies recently, with some Doctors as well as one or two Demogorgons.

  • @Vetrathene said:

Why? I'm not saying as killer I haven't camped, but its a last resort when I'm down to one gen left. Why do it immediatly out of the gate? Its not happening all the time, but as I've played survivor more I've noticed its happening a lot more since the update. I just don't understand the amount of insecurity it takes to get to that method of playing I guess? Its a method thats in the game, but it honestly dosen't seem fun for either side to me.

As a main killer who plays survivor from time to time I have faced many campers (I'll remember that Demogorgon that became too attached to my hook and was unable to go 12 metres away before returning). Of course, camping has always been a problem on this game. When I play killer I find camping extremely difficult. The only killer that I would not blame for camping a bit is hag, I mean, she is made for camping.

For tunnelling, I understand that sometimes you, as a killer, see the game becomming more and more demanding, as gens pop and you have difficulties to apply pressure. In that cases, with 2 gens and 4 survs, for example, I find tunnelling someone as a valid resource. However, tunnelling since minute 1 of the match is completely unnecessary and frustrating for the victim. Again, there is one killer who I consider that has to do It, this being PH, as his power depends on this and he can counter Decisive Strike easily.

  • First, hooks in Coldwind Farm, now gens in Macmillan. XD. What is wrong with the placement these days?

  • @versacefeng said:

I don't know how you find 20 minute games balanced but.

Yeah, 5 minute games are not balanced as well.

if you start adressing clicking and teabaging then you need to adress killers hitting on hook too ? and then every "offensive" things in the game... who cares

I am curious, how would you address hit on hook?

  • It's bit about the game, it's about respecto. This would prevent survivors humilliating killers that are bot able to catch them. I am sure You do bot like when they are toxic with you.

  • And as for those who say that they should not do anything I would like to know why do you support that idea.

  • I have always relied on stealth rather than having long chases. My strategy has not been affected by the patch at all.

  • @Turtl said:

I already know there are going to be comments saying ghost face is a weak killer or the most boring but if that was true you wouldnt be running into one every other survivor match. My main problem deals with his ability and the fact that hes a faster killer with an ability to one shot anyone with little to no cooldown seems a little broken to me. Any I dont know so I wanted to make a poll to see how others felt about it.

First time I see someone complaining about Ghostface. No matter how much you find him as survivors, he is weak. Most times he will be a M1 killer. Your arguments are incorrect as well, as his speed is average, night shroud has a cooldown and he has to build up the ability to instadown. He is basically a weaker version of Myers that has a more individualistic approach and that can teabag you. Man, if anything, Ghostface should be buffed instead of nerfed if he has to change. And if he is using his power just reveal him and that's all.

  • Bubba, he appears many times for me and is always a sign of an epic camp comming if he catches us. If he has insidious, then it's death.

  • Yesterday I played two games as a nurse. In the first match I was against a team of survivors that knew what they were doing and easily countered me, while in the second one I destroyed the survivors and got a 4k. In both matches I was running the purple addon that increases her blink distance and the one that makes her undetectable when hitting a survivor after blinking. Nobody DCd, but in the match I got the 4k I ended up harvesting some salt.

Now, in the match all survs escaped I faced four people who were constantly breaking my line of sight and relied on stealth. They also figured out I had nurse's calling and adapted to it. Against them I could not do anything. They were also repairing strategically so the last three gens were as far as possible. Then, in the match I got 4k, they were always pressing w out in the open, they never figured nurse's calling out and they ended up in a three close gen situation with a nurse. The thing this showed me is that nurse can be countered, she depends on her línea of sight and in places with two floors she can be a mess. But some think that complaining and giving up is the way to get things changed.

About Blight all I can say is that, as a person who is not quite good with him, he requires some degree of skill and knowing the collision in the game too well, but he is also a killer that relies on his line of sight and out in the open he is quite useless.

  • Man, that is love between hooks lol

  • Having two Freddys with different powers but that look similar would.be confusing, and also repeating killers would also be saying that there are no ideas for new killers. I see that og Freddy fits only as a legendary skin.

Developers have been listening almost exclusively to killers. For years.

    Don't believe me?

1.) "Maps are too dark. I can't find Blendette!" Maps were redesigned and brightened.

2.) "Loops are too hard! They are godloops!" Almost* (all?) godloops were erased. Most decent loops were taken out as well.

3.) "Gens pop too quickly! I can't do anything!" Gen time was increased.

4.) "Hooks are too far apart! Survivors are abusing this!" Hooks were brought closer together.

5.) "Deadhard is too much! They get 2 seconds extra time in a chase/miss my hit (even though they gained exhaustion)!" DH was nerfed.

6.) "Decisive strike is not fair! If they are down, I deserve to get a hook!" DS was nerfed.

7.) "Flaslights are too OP! I can't play against them!" Flashlights were adjusted/overhauled.

8.) "Keys and hatches are not fair! I deserve to kill everyone!" Keys and hatch were nerfed.

Now before you say: "Well, killers were a little underwhelming and SWF was too strong"--I agreed! But gain some perspective on just how much the devs always, for years, have catered to the killers.

Complaining about forever Legion is the least of your concerns.

If they listened only to killers, they would have nerfed the Circle of Healing + Bottany Knowledge combo, and wouldn't have made Off The Record such a strong perk.

  • @BlazePyron2 said:

I just had a legion game where an extremely obvious bully swf just simply gave up partway into the match because they simply didn't want to play with the gen speeds I had forced them to. I was running thana, thrilling tremors, surveillance, and oppression. They finished one gen but it was obviously going to require too much of a time investment for them to continue the game, and they weren't going to get the satisfaction of stomping on a killer, so they just simply locker-hopped to annoy me until I finally hooked them all.

These are the kind of survivors that are going to be very vocal about how the balance in this patch is too killer-sided. So enjoy your slowdown builds while they last, I can't imagine bhvr not listening to the bully swf people who want to be able to feel invincible again.

Well, from my experience I can say that the survs I have faced as legion never gave up, and I was running Thanatophobia, dying light, call of brine and gift of pain. Some even were swf groups. Now, as I play on PS4, I could not see if they were complaining. You just were unlucky to find the typical immature bully squad that starts crying if they do not feel empowered. Don't worry about it, they will most likely be ignored.

Glad you didn't stop reading and thanks for your killer perspective. I did try killer a few years ago, but I prefer much to collaborative playstyle of the survivor side. And you are right, I am probably to worst person to give the killer viewpoint, which I why I didn't. I have played against skilled killers who knew to wait out DH, so maybe it is a matter of killer skills to be able to deal with DH?

The main point of this post is to convey my feeling about the change, I am sure it doesn;t apply to everyone. I will continue to experiment with builds for a little while and move on if I can't find something satisfying enough. Heck, I might even start playing killer side, provided the queues are reasonable...

Skill cannot counter what was the mighty power of pressing E and be safe immediatly. Killers were too scared to hit an injured survivor because of that E and the loss of time that would mean. And if the E was used to reach a window or a pallet, then the chase would be noticeably longer, giving the others survivors more time to repair and pop up some gens while the chase was going. The old DH was a perk that was unbalanced and gave survivors a powerful tool to evade the killer without needing skill, just the ability to press E. This may have been rewarding for you as a survivor. Then, imagine all 4 survivors running DH. Chases would be too long for the killer to have pressure, and the trapper's power could be easily countered and turned against him. This perk was heavily exploited by the survivors, and that was frustrating for killer mains. Now, survivors need skill to propperly use DH, and It is not that busted anymore. The meta has changed, and now instead of abusive chase perks, It is time for stealth and teamwork. If you had played killer more before this patch, you would not be saying that DH was fun at all for sure.

I’ve been thinking about this especially since the new patch and it feels like the devs are afraid of making strong survivor perk options.

If we look at killer over the past year we have got Pain resonance, Pentimento, Lethal pursuer, Call of brine and Deadlock as new great options. Out of the three scourge hooks so far only one launched weak being gift of pain but it has now been buffed into a solid position

Now if we look at survivor over the past year we have gotten COH which was completely busted on release and is now a solid option and that’s about it really. Overcome is decent but worse than other exhaustion options and Shadowstep isn’t strong enough to run on its own. Hell they even nerfed parental guidance before release despite it not being incredibly strong in the first place. Perks like overzealous and inner focus are being buffed literally a month and a half after their launch because they released which such trivial numbers. For example how strong would overzealous actually be if the 16% boost happened regardless of a hex totem or not? Encourage side objectives with bonus gen speed that goes away when the killers pressure gens well sounds pretty balanced in my opinion. Boons overall are weak especially in the case of dark theory like when was the last time you saw someone run a boon perk without COH as well?

Looking at the new patch the same problem shows itself. Calm spirit apparently needing a 30% reduction in speed to compensate for its mediocre effect, Pharmacy needing the prerequisite of being injured, Botany having a medkit efficiency debuff and Dark sense having its endgame activation removed. It just feels like the devs want to make a new meta but absolutely refused to make new strong options for survivor players to use meaning we’ll just use the old meta regardless. To me it just feels like the devs are afraid of similar outcry to COH or dead hard when they release a strong perk for survivors. It’s not all negative though with perks like distortion and ITR record but it still feels like they are p,saying it very safe at the moment which feels weird for a meta shake up

Ok, devs said that they nerfed selfcare because they think that having the capability of healing at will is not balanced at all. Then you find Circle of Healing and bottany stacking, giving you the exact same thing they said that was too strong.

Then we have Off The Record, which has received a considerable buff that transformed it into one of the strongest perks in the game for survivors.

We also have some exhaustion perks that give haste (sprintburst, balanced landing, agility) , perks that if are used with knowledge can be also strong.

Then, about your "strong" killer perks, lethal pursuer can only be used once and needs addons and aura reading perks to be useful. Pentimento is easy to counter, just do not cleanse if it is not needed, and if shattered hope is in game, do not boon or make sure you cleanse one Pentimento totem so it does not reach 5 stacks. For pain resonance, try to be far from scourge hooks and keep repairing the gen, and have long chases. For Call of Brine, simply stop the regression and be patient. The same world for Deadlock, be patient and if the killer is camping the gen, then go repair another one.

Every perk in the game can be countered, and many times outsmarting your rival is more than necessary to avoid difficult situations, like a 5-stack Pentimento. Some counters are easy and some are difficult, but if well-executed, the match could be yours.

  • @rvzrvzrvz said:

Why always nerfs ? Why not buff overcome from 2 seconds to 3, make other options more attractive instead of nerfing every decent perks

Because I don't see Behaviour buffing exhaustion perks yet, I was trying to be realistic in the poll, that is why I didn't add "Buff" option

  • What I have noticed is an increase in sprintburst users, so this perk is the first one in the new meta. Survivors do not like hiding, they like chases, and stealth will always be there, but most of them are repairing untill the killer arrived and then they use their haste to go away.

  • @johangpx said:

It is not exiting it is frustrating. I hate it

Then think how frustrating would be for a killer to see 3 (or 4 in the worst cases) gens popping almost simultaneously after the first 80 seconds of the match. Before this update, a match could be won or lost in the first few minutes. Now, you are encouraged to be with someone or do something else. 10 secs are not a huge difference, of course. Old DBD was survivor-sided most times, and now the game is progressing towards balance, and the vast majority of the community know this. If you find surv games are boring, then change your playstyle so it is more entertaining for you, which is what I have done. I now look for chests and use perks that encourage tóteme cleansing to benefit from those side objectives that are in the match. I suggest you do the same and use Overzealous, so gens are quicker when you cleanse.

While it may have been fun to bully, I don't think the killer thought it was fun (may be wrong, though) and you always should've respected the killers as they are the big bads, but sometimes the game get Clicky SWF's and suddenly they're the big bads.

I, as a main killer, sometimes did not mind soft bullying. The problem came with those survivors that always click regardless of what you are doing. If they stun you, 360 you are do a save; they would click or teabag. I remember a hell of a match as Pinhead against a swf group that brought 4 flashlights and all 4 had Head On, and they were very toxic. However, an occasional teabag does not come across to me as toxic.

Yeah, well, you may have forgotten that tunnelling has been tackled. And camping and tunnelling, although I hate admitting it, are legit strategies that allow survivors to repair without worrying at all unless you are the poor tunnelled guy. Surv mains always complain about these things when they clearly benefit their team by giving them time to repair and flee. I defend balance while you defend empowering survivors, It is clear to me, and making a killer useless is not balance, It is an abuse. Now I will use Spirit much more.

Wow the match could be over in 4 minutes if the killer is afk? No way! I bet the killer could win in 4 minutes too if the survivors were all following chase with a flashlight trying to be stupid too.

Yeah, well, it depended on survivors before. The time the match lasted depended on how much did they want to repair and how good they were in chase so the killer would be entertained and lured to a part of the map in which there was nothing. Now, with the extra time, the killer has a bigger and fairer chance to apply pressure and stop compulsive repairs. And you do not need to be afk to suffer that. I have had experiences with this type of survivors, and a match that is lost after a minute is not fin anymore. It seems like you are a main surv, so if you had played killer more often, you would have seen this with your own eyes.

  • So an overpowered perk that made It impossible for Spirit to work as intended was "balanced" for you? Well, now the people who have fun by ruining killer's games are finally leaving. I guess this update will finally purge the community, leaving only those who understand that multiplayer games are not meant to be fun for a single person or a group of people, leaving one or more individuals bored or wanting that hell to end. If you don't think that videogames are for everyone and not just you, then you will not be missed, and two better people will take your spot and the community will be proud of wellcoming them.

I wonder how much fun you'll have as Killer when you have to wait like 30 minutes for a lobby because no one wants to play Survivor anymore.

XD I am one of those who actually don't mind waiting if the match is fin and lasts for a while. Also, today I played a match as killer and another one as surv and It took longer to find a surv match than a killer match.

  • Yeah, well, luckily for us all, DBD is not only a survivor game, and after playing a survivor-sided game in which a match could last four minutes if all survivors were repairing without minding anything else at all and after struggling a lot, killers finally got some love from the devs. This is balance, genrush can be delayed, giving more time to stop It, and survivors no longer have overpowered tools that encourage a toxic behaviour in the endgame. You are clearly a main survivor who enjoyed having power, but that is not funny for a killer, and a game's aim is to be funny for EVERYONE.

  • @Sluzzy said:

BHVR actually did it. A perk in a horror game that is supposed to be used to dodge a hit was actually nerfed into uselessness. A perk that required immense skill in situations that required precise timing against many things that could cause it not to work (ie. server lag, killer connections). It is not fun to use now.

90 seconds to repair gens is not something survivors need or want to do. It is not fun to sit 90 seconds. Constantly nerfing survivors because of bad killers is causing the survivor role to be very unattractive and I opened the game today to play one game and clicked quit. 100% bonus points to lose against an overpowered killer is not enough incentive to play as survivor.

3 second stun against a Nurse, Huntress, or Blight is basically nothing. Any person disagreeing including BHVR needs to play survivor against one of these killers only one time to know. Decisive Strike and all of its silly deactivation conditions might be fun for killers but you feel very cheated as survivor and it is not fun. A 1-time use perk shouldn't be that weak. There is hardly any tools for survivors to use their skill and improve upon. Escaping is impossible against a killer that knows what to do.

Excellent killers do not have any issues winning an overwhelming majority of their matches. Balancing around very bad killers is not good for DBD.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4UQCXODID25J/image.png

First of all, Dead Hard did not need any skill at all, now It needs your mind to work, as you now need to time It right. I have played against some survivors today and they timed DH well, something that gave them time to flee. Pre-update DH was basically a third health state with a little sprintburst, and anyone who knew how to press E could use it amazingly well.

Secondly, 90 seconds for repairing a generator allows killers to add a little bit more pressure. Before the update, gens would pop in less than 60 secs oftenly, as two or more survs would repair toghether or, if you were unlucky, all 4 survs would be on the same gen and It would pop before you could even orientate yourself in the map. If you do not want to stand 90 secs repairing, find yourself a mate to repair with and that's all.

Finally, Huntress, Blight and Nurse are not omnipotent. A nurse can be countered by running towards her, for example, or using the lightburn mechanic if you are lucky enough. Blight can get lost, and if it looses visual contact with you, and you can get to hide from him. Huntress is slow and charging and shooting hatchets can delay her. A good survivor knows each killer's flaws perfectly, and used them to gain advantages. I do not like to use this expresión, but "git gud" applies here. DS was exploited by toxic survivors to teabag Killers at exit gates and lure the killer into picking them. Now, this meassure encourages you to get out of the map instead of teabagging and mocking the killer, as well as giving killers a chance to get a kill. Also, take in count that NOED is now easier to counter.

It is a pity that you start judging this update without barely trying it and giving it a chance, but I guess that you chose to complain and I respect that.

  • I think It may be unintended.

I've never seen camping as a problem or strong tactic.

If someone getting camped from beggining, survivors just rush gens and get out, don't even try to get to the hook.

If killer playing that way, give him his 1 kill and 3 escapes each match, after 3-4 matches this killer will reconsider his "tactics" to more fun and healthier way for him and survivors.

Tunneling on the other hand... I don't see tunneling as a good tactic after patch tho.

Yeah, making BT base kit was right. I see players thinking twice before tunnelling now.

  • Yeah, teams terrify me as well. Especially when they join as default dwight and change last sec to another survivor. That is the thing that tells me I am going to be bullied.

The majority of tunneling is a just an easy way to rig the game in the killer's favor, in my experience.

Well, I don't have as much experience with tunnelling cases as I have with camping. That one is the problem. The Next patch tackles tunnelling more than camping, although they promised that would tackle camping. I see the worst Killers camping more than tunelling.
