The 6.1.2 update is composed of only bad decisions

Don't get me wrong, I like small patches that get added every few weeks but this one is just bad. Here's why.

Thanatophobia:

this perk is too oppressive on some killers so it gets changed. The problem with this change is that now everyone besides Plague and Legion simply cant use the perk anymore and Plague and Legion can still get nearly the full value out of it.

They basically left this perk unchanged for the 2 killers it was annoying on and made it unusable for every other killer by making each stack only give 2%.

Mettle of Man:

It is now easier to activate BUT it is now just a glorified Off the Record that does not stack with any other Endurance perk and gives the killer permanent aura readong on you if you arent being chased basically.

From a perk with a big payoff after an extreme hassle to activate it, to just a worse version of Off the Record.

Changes to the Synergy between Pain Resonance, Dead Man's Switch and Merciless Storm:

There was no problem with Pain Resonance working with Merciless Storm. It was a cool synergy that rarely if ever happened because it is largely RNG dependent.

Pain Resonance and Dead Man's switch working together again is just going to enforce the same old boring counterplay again that in soloQ is hard to pull off if someone works on a gen with you because they probably dont let go of the gen.

SoloQ nerf again, will do nothing in SWF.

Also nerfing dead man's switch because of a perk synergy is kind of weird. Wish they would ve just changed the how the perk works instead of nerfing it

It is now worse to use on its own and is basically forced to be used with Pain Resonance.

Clown is back, thats actually nice.

Orange glyphs get deleted for a while, i wonder how these even passed "testing". I m kidding ofc nobody tests that, it was kind of obvious that they would cause motion sickness and migraines in some people.

Matchmaking incentives were promised for 6.1.0 but they never worked so they get delayed to 6.2.0 which just proves to me that nobody really tests their software before shipping it or giving it a release date.

Comments

  • Legion and Plague are taking a hit with Thana.

    • Once a survivor dies the penalty in the new version is capped at 6% versus the current cap of 16.5%. That a significant boost for trying to push through to finish the last gen in a 3v1 scenario against Legion or Plague with Thana.
    • Legion has an easy time keeping 3 people injured but not necessarily 4 people injured in the early and midgame. All it takes is one survivor outside Legion’s terror radius to heal and it slashes Thana’s bonus from 20% to 6%. That’s not to say Legion can’t have all four survivors injured simultaneously, but it’s not as trivial as some people seem to think.
    • Plague probably has an easier time keeping everybody injured mainly because survivors tend to be reluctant to use the fountains early on. But even against Plague eventually survivors will probably cleanse if she’s using Thanatophobia and at that point its bonus goes to at most 6%.

So yes, this perk is even weaker for all the other killers, but it’s still a noticeable nerf for Legion and Plague too.

MoM isn't even a worse OTR. OTR hides your aura, and gives a 100% pain audio reduction meaning i can combine it with perks I enjoy like stake out and distortion for tokens and even if i don't need 80 seconds of endurance I still get the aura hiding and no pain grunts for the full duration. MoM is now just more of a joke, it's in it's own category of meme perks.

  • So a perk that is useful again after some time gets killed, while a situational combo that was pretty fun (for me at least) gets changed by a slightly nerfed version of another more abusive combo, a perk that was useful for survivors but requires buildup gets abosultely destroyed, Kenneth returns, a hellish glyph is removed and a meassure that was meant to make queues shorter is postponed.

What is happening to the game these days? 6.1.0 was great and made necessary changes, but this is a step backwards. What is comming next, Dead Hard returning to its previous version? I would have left the game untouched for a bit regarding buffs and nerfs.

A change for thana that would have been better would be making survivors with Deep wound and/or with the Broken effect not count. Like this , survivors with No Mither and that cannot heal would also be treated more fairly by Thana, as they cannot do anything to fight its effects.
