  • Killers like to complain about how weak killers are just as much as survivors like to complain about how OP killers are.

Demo is one of those flavor of the month things killers like to complain about. Clown is one of the perennial ones.

Both are viable killers and all killers are viable at rank 1. Depends on the skill of the player.

  • It will be there again eventually. On the meantime be happy that you learn to play without relying on a crutch perk like that.

  • I don't need diversity and representation in my video games.

That said I don't mind having Indian characters in DBD.

  • @Jejune said:

... merge majority of the perks and balace them to the new norm?

Like there is too many perks, most of them could be merged to make them USEABLE.

Maybe its a bad idea, who knows...

Too hard for BHVR. Too much work.

    Are you serious, dude?

Of course there's red rank killers on console. But we get robbed of easy hits by BS aim dressing, 360 exploits, and fps drops all the time. I couldn't play Doctor for like a year because his fps issues were so bad. We can and will blame our equipment, because mouse and keyboard are better than controller to begin with, and we also have to deal with BHVR's ineptitude with making a decent console port. For example, me rapidly zooming in and out of Deathslinger's sights will cause bad fps. It's the smallest of things, even just playing on Midwich or Lerys, that causes the fps to drop. We're asking for 60 fps. BHVR can't even give us 30! Whatever PS4 SpookNJukes has must be godlike, either because it's a PS4 pro or he tampered with it. There is no other way you're playing an optimized version of this game on base PS4. Mine doesn't even sound like a jet engine and DBD still runs poorly. The MAIN MENU SCREEN, where it says press X, has FPS DROPS when I press X. That's when you know you're dealing with a ######### console port. GG, devs.

If you can blame your equipment, you can blame yourself for buying crap equipment. Solution: buy better equipment.

Well yes the frame rate, and latency are certainly factors but so are mods and UI which coincidentally few are commenting. What about those cross hairs? How come I can wiggle the heck of a killer that doesn’t have one of the counter wiggle perks on console but PC forget about it. Obvious. Thus why any tourney should be distinguished between consoles and PC. PC has massive advantages in cross plat. PS5 is just a bargain gaming PC. $700 you can build a PC that will blow away the PS5. The concern here more the mods, UIs/mods, and yes cheats being used on PC.

Mods are illegal except for the icon mods, and their is only one UI in the game.

If you can wiggle out of a killer's grasp on console the killers on console must be a sad lot.

You can get your Eight Second Chances on any Survivor each killer is unique in their own way it takes practice to be viable with when playing against intelligent survivors.

You can't get 8 second chances on a survivor.

    You clearly don't play Survivor.

  • You should feel blessed you're going up against stealth survivors.

They make the game super easy for killer.

If they are still getting exit gates open with useless survivors being deadweight hiding all game, that's a problem with you as a killer.

You already have dozens of ways to find the survivor. Use them. If you can't find survivors again that's on you as killer. The devs have already severely nerfed stealth in this game. They have made maps brighter. Clothes brighter. Given you a dozen aura-reading perks. A dozen add-ons to detect survivor. Perks that tell you which generators are being worked on. Perks that tell you when a survivor heals. Perks that tell you when a survivor disturbs a crow. Perks that tell you when a survivor is near. Make them breath louder. Etc.

    Learn to play sheesh.

  • Jane's best perk is Break Down. That big booty too heavy for the hook.

  • Sounds like you should blame your countrymen and not the developers.

    This is completely false.

The last gen consoles have some pretty severe framerate problems.

This affects gameplay whether you like it or not.

I've played both PS4 and PC.

Since crossplay was implemented the second you are in a chase versus a Nurse you can tell if she is on PC or console, it's that much of a difference.

    You are talking about framerate.

The OP is talking about "Fluidity" and talks about lowering mouse sensitivity and raising analogue stick sensitivity.

See this? It's called a clue. Take it. Because you don't have one.

  • I have like 12 different builds I use regularly on Survivor and 3 on killer. Thanks for the advice but you're preaching to the choir.

I play console. PS5. I have no latency issues as I am 1G wired. However In cross plat you can tell a PC killer pretty well. Huntress never misses for example. Killers are barely if at all effected by even aggressive wiggling. Obvious UI and mods as well as possible cheats being used. I get that cross plat is designed to shorten the queue but yeaaah. Big difference in skill between a 1 killer on console and PC being the console killer especially cross plat certainly is more skilled. For the salty PC killer mains, truth, it hurts sometimes.

PC Huntresses miss all the time.

If you are getting hit all the time it means you don't know how to verse her. Learn how to dodge and make yourself a harder target, and for goodness sake look at the killer while you are running away.

I won't deny PC killers have a huge advantage -- PC Master Race yada yada -- but the stuff you are talking about aren't advantages because of PC.

  • There are tons of ways to counter keys. Iri Hatchet is one. Scapled Topknot is another. Yakuyoke Amulet is another. And add Ruin on top. Can't escape through the hatch if you kill them before 2 gens are even done.

  • This is an issue with DBD's wonky audio. Not sure if there's such a fix.

  • Killers like to feel so victimized but the truth is Killer parks are way stronger than Survivor perks in general, and survivor perks have been nerfed way more than killer perks in general.

In the Dennisreep community there are 7 S-Rank Killer Perks and 0 (yes Zero) S-Rank Survivor Perks. The ranks change every now and then but in general Killers have more S-Rank perks than Survivor perks at any given time.

Other people in this thread have pointed how many of the survivor perks newb killers think never got nerfed were nerfed ages before they even started playing (pretty obvious they're newbs because they never even knew they were nerfed).

  • @Entità said:

The challenges are interesting, they help you improve and enjoy the eventual victory more. The term "challenge" is not valid, however, when the clash takes place with unequal weapons and defeat is inexorable. I can accept that the PC has better graphics, but not that it guarantees an unsurpassed tactical advantage, in terms of character maneuverability and responsiveness of the commands. I expect to have the same gameplay and winning opportunities on PS4 Pro as on PC.

I played for a year and a half against Nurses with omegablink and 5 blinks on PS4 and it resulted in challenging but also fun games. Now, when I meet a red rank Nurse from another platform (and I'm ready to bet my Devotion 15 that she plays on PC), the games systematically end with 4 kills and 5/4 gens left.

There are three options in the field:

    1) give the other players the same fluidity as those who operate the Nurse from the PC; or

    2) impose the same restrictions on the Nurse from PC, when she plays against opponents from other platforms, that a Nurse would have on PS4; or

    3) activate immediately, not soon, not tomorrow, not tonight, but at this very moment, the new MMR system, so that I and the other unfortunate solos from PS4 are not condemned to lose before the game even starts and we'll meet PC Nurses no more (moreover, players often very toxic, who tunnel even with 5 gens left, because they pretend that all survivors are full SWFs that coordinate well and genrush, ignoring any contrary evidence).

Until one of these solutions is implemented, after dozens of unfair, wrong and frustrating games, I have decided to give the Nurse 30 seconds to understand if she has supernatural abilities or not: if the answer is yes, I disconnect or I commit suicide at the first opportunity. It is not permissible to force someone to play a lost game.

You have the same fluidity as Nurse on any platform. There are no restrictions or advantages to Nurse from platform to platform. You just have a crappy controller on consoles. Deal with it. Don't like it, buy a PC.

Sorry not sorry, PC Master Race.

If it's a big issue for you turn off crossplay.

    However...

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/CKJH3U9TWK9Z/dbd.jpg

As you can see with my screenshot, everything but the character model looks weirdly tiny (except for Ace, he still gets to be normal sized). This isn't a game breaking problem or whatnot but when in game getting skill checks, the skill checker thingy is also pretty tiny. I can play like this but it's not optimal.

I have no idea if this is something I can do something about as I'm being told by Discord Buddies that this is a 4K thing and basically not everything is coded to blow up to 4K like they should be. So it sounds like I either have to wait for BHVR to fix this or I switch down to 1080 mode and be sad that I don't get to 4K for the time being.

However, I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Anyone familiar with this issue? If so, is there a way that I am able to fix it (besides dumbing down my connection to 1080) or am I stuck with tiny vision until BHVR fixes it?

    Thanks!

This is normal in every game.

Most interface elements are made of sprites and not geometry, so when you play at higher resolution they shrink.

Is normal in PC world. In console you didn't have to worry about this because 4K wasn't a thing in the past.

The odds of BHVR "fixing" this are so low I would call it the "0-9 System" (meaning the chance is .0000000001%)

Perhaps you misunderstand. The characters in the Scream movies undergo the concept of being ordinary people, and when you look at them, they can be anonymous af.

They didn't need to aquire the Scream IP because Ghost Face is his own IP, albeit a cheaper and more flexible one too. Since it is simply a "generic" killer underneath the iconic mask, what difference would it really make for the killer if they had the Scream and Ghost Face licenses? Sure the map and the selection of survivors, but the killer would have no difference in appearance or concept to the original take they've given us already. BHVR going for just GF's IP was the smarter move, plus who knows? They've said if an IP isn't in the game after much request to this point, they may have not been able to get it anyway.

Ghost Face IS his own character rather than 2 separate things, it's just what is made of the individual beneath to make them even more unique.

He's not misunderstanding anything. You're just splitting hairs over something no one cares about.

The "real" Ghost Face is the one from Scream. The GF we have is not that. If it were he would not be a paragraph and would be a full chapter with a survivor and a Scream map.

    That is all.

The persona angle thing you are trying to push is irrelevant and nobody cares about that really.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Maybe Bubba was an after thought? Now that you mention it most other license killers came with a map.

Freddy has Bedham. Pig has The Game. Demo has Hawkins. Mikey has Haddionfield.

GF doesn't have his own map but it's not the real GF. They only got the rights to use the costume so they had to invent someone to wear it.

Bubba is like Ghostface. Standalone killer with no map.

"She can know exactly where you are at all times if you are injured and there is no counterplay for survivors"

Have you tried beiing healthy ?

This is actually not something that works.

Some Killers can track you while perfectly healthy from the sound of your breathing. They buffed breathing sounds to be very loud sometime back.

It's ridiculous how far a killer can hear you especially with Stridor. They need to do something about that.

I once faced a Death slinger who found me at the top of the Coldwind tractor while he was chasing another Survivor below.

Afte the match I asked him how he found me he said he heard my breathing. I was at least 10m away yet he still heard me. While in chase.

That was the point I realized that if some killers weren't so bad at the game or deaf it would literally be impossible to hide from them.

  • @Iosefka said:

Anyone can play spirit and 4K easily. She can know exactly where you are at all times if you are injured and there is no counterplay for survivors.

Iron will doesn't counter spirit. Scottjund proved this.

Spirit is nurse with training wheels

Anyone can play any killer and 4K easy. When yo first start playing killer chances are you'll run into a bunch of newb survivors and believe me 4K-ing them is a piece of cake.

I first played killer with Nurse and 4K'd my first game. not because I was any good at the game, the survivors were just that bad.

  • First, practice your blinks.

Second, when in chase use the first blink to get close to a survivor but pinpoint it to a section that is on a point that has two perpendicular lines in clear view next to the obstruction. That is because skilled survivors who know how to counter nurse will use LOS obstructions to juke and confuse your aim. By going to a perpendicular LOS point you see where they are going so your next blink can hit them.

Third, most important, keep calm and don't get frustrated when you miss a blink. I see a lot of nurse players out there even at red ranks self destruct when I dodge them once or twice. Then they miss a hell of a lot more after that even with just easy jukes and evasions. Don't lose your cool.

  • @gatsby said:

As a Survivor you have three options when you load into a match,

    1. Run Decisive Strike and risk having a dead perk slot because it doesn't come into play every game even when you try to force it.
    2. Run another Obsession perk to make sure the Killer thinks someone has Decisive. There are very few options and a lot of them also run into the inconsistency problem.
    3. Run a build that you enjoy with four useful perk slots and risk a game with no Obsession where the Killer is likely to tunnel someone out of the game within the first three minutes.

The perk is so damn strong that the consequences for NOT running it force you to always run it or another Obsession perk. Or risk having a GG from the loading in.

I don't have your problem. I only run DS when I'm going for a 4 Stun in one Match quest. I run DS and Head On and sacrifice two palette hits for it.

I have no need or feel the need to be compelled to use DS in any way, shape or form.

I also don't care if they nerf it to hell or even delete it from the game, because I don''t use it. BHVR, feel free to delete DS from the game so that killers can find something new to complain about. It seriously gets old.

Right now, survivor queues are longer than the matches they play. Once the patch drops, this will get even worse.

Yet survivor mains don't see that it's in their benefit when killers are strong and a enjoyable experience.

Killers are strong. Stomps happen when there is a mismatch in player skill for all parties.

Also I'm lucky I don't live in your region because matches for me are longer than the queue times.

Except leaving your teammate to die trying to do the objective while you sit in the corner and wait for your free escape is a dick move. Part of the reason why I hate the hatch; it makes survivors selfish, and they're rewarded for it.

I bring Aftercare and Plunderers precisely because I want both of us to make it out.

Say what you want though a lot of people do dick moves. It's fine you do what you have to. When it's down to the two of us I don't expect to live so often times if they give me the "signal" that they found the hatch I will kill myself there and then to give them the hatch.

Nothing in this game is fun for me anymore. All games are stressful, and I need to bear all kinds of toxicity and bullshits in this game.

Sometimes I tried to do a fun build. But why would it be fun when the other side try as hard as they could to win the game? And if I try to win like they do, it is stressful and not fun. This is especially true when playing as killer, which is the role I play the most.

Every time I want to boot up the game, I got the strange feeling that keeps me away from it. I can’t even put my mouse cursor over the game icon.

Does anyone feel the same like this? Or any past experiences?

It is okay to stop playing the game. If you lose interest in the game just stop and play something else.

Is there any reason for there to be no punishment for afk behavior in games?

I've never heard of this being punished. And considering I run into at least one of these kinds of games every single day obviously it isn't punished enough.

Just report it and hope they get punished.

Not sure if serious, in the last year I can probably count the number of times I didn't see DS on one hand.

DS is like BBQ and Ruin. It is all over the place. It's arguably more common than either of those two perks, mostly because there are 4x more survivors per match than killers.

Not really. The bar for winning is 3-4 survivors who are decent at looping, have decent game knowledge, have meta perks, and actually do gens. Even a 1 minute chase should be costing the killer 3 gens but it rarely does.

Considering most red rank survivors are extremely boosted and could get bodied by an M1 killer in the first 30 seconds of the game I don’t think it’s unreasonable for them to lose.

Im forced to run multiple gen perks as killer if I want a game longer than 5 minutes(unless I’m playing a BS killer like nurse); so if survivors want to bring in the cutesy perks like head on and deception they should have to make up for it in skill instead of relying on the usual second chance perks.

But instead they complain about camping and tunneling when there’s clear answers to both. Tons of maps are still pallet town and M1 killers have very little answer to it if the survivors have even the slightest idea of what they are doing.

This is the funny thing about killers.

They claim that most survivors at Red Rank are boosted incompetents who can't even outrun an M1 killer. Then in the same breath will claim that they require meta perks to make the game last or else they insta lose.

I'm like, just rolling my eyes at the irony and hypocrisy of it.

I an't take any of you seriously as long as you keep spouting hypocritical gibberish like this.

I agree that BHVR doesn’t favour either side. I’m ok with people venting their frustrations, I just don’t want balance changes to be made based on venting.

As far as Ruin/Undying, I felt it warranted a nerf. Maybe they overdid it, but I agree that it did need to be changed somehow. I don’t know how some people here manage to have no problems with it in soloq. Maybe they are just really good at the game, but my experience in game has not been such. Ruin/Undying is tough to deal with in soloq.

That being said, I do agree that DS and UB combo needs to be looked at too. I don’t quite know how you would fix that, but suddenly seeing one of my teammates just get up off the ground doesn’t seem too right. The swing in momentum of the game is so drastic. It’s bad enough if it happens once, god knows it’s busted if it happens more than once.

I mean even DS alone is problematic. I like how it is part of an anti-tunneling tech, but the number of times I see teammates making silly decisions only to realise later that they did so because they knew they were invulnerable doesn’t sit right with me. I mean I appreciate that we have a way to punish tunneling but can we not abuse it people?

I don’t know how to fix these problems, including how Ruin/Undying should have been balanced, but I know we can be more decent to each other and not abuse what has been given to us. That is all.

I'm pretty sure most balance changes aren't done out of venting.

People who think that the ones throwing tantrums on twitter, youtube, reddit or the forums are what cause changes are delusional. Sure, they can bring the dev's attention to the issue, but balance changes are ultimately done because after careful consideration BHVR realized they needed to be done.

If throwing a tantrum were all that were needed to get changes done DS would have been removed from the game ages ago. Same with camping and tunneling, those two are the biggest whines survivors make, been consistently that way for the past 4 years. All of those are still alive and well in the game.

Uh... Not to burst your bubble or anything, but as a Blight Main myself, I find basically every indoor map to be a super huge advantage.

I look at just about every wall and turn into Hanzo from Overwatch:

    "Simple geometry."

So this game is where Hanzo ended up!

Ironically Hanzo hasn't been "Simple Geometry" for years now since his rework. There is no geometry involved with Storm Arrow. Simple Geometry is now Sigma's catchline (except that isn't).

  • @Regulus47 said:

Probably going to get a lot of hate for this, but a good Blight is stupidly strong with little to no counterplay. His cooldown after a dash isn't long enough to make any real distance, and his turning and attack hitbox are so massive that you really can't dodge his lethal rush. On one hand, you need to practice a bit to be good at him i'm sure, but at higher levels it doesn't really seem like you can do anything against him.

He can use his power at almost every loop in the game to get an easy hit, and those that he can't he can just chase normally and then break the pallet and get a free hit afterwards. Is it just me or is it just too easy to hit people with his lunge?

It's fine. Survivors aren't supposed to win chases.

A good nurse is worse than any Blight and she's still in the game.

The killrate has been pretty high, well above the 50% survival rate target for years. This is intended. Survivors cannot have too easy a time and killers are supposed to be strong, otherwise the game stagnates.

  • @TheeclumsyNinja said:

I get that at low ranks its strong, but ranks 1-3 its simply a way to help you get some trackion.

I as a killer do not wanna sweat 2/3 matches against good swf with all their op perks completely untouched for years when the killer finally gets something to help early game at red ranks and its nerfed within 3 months.

The devs say they want something to help with early game... well you had it but all the bad survivors complained so you nerfed it into the ground immediately.

If they complain about something as simple as doing totems what the hekk are you ever gonna be able to do to help early game lol

Devs need to get a back bone, stop babying bad survivors and force them to learn how to loop in a chase.

See, I feel the same way, but tunneling is grouped with camping as toxic killer behavior and I just don't get that argument. Thanks!

Again. Camping and Tunneling = survivor possibly not playing at all.

Genrushing = Killer still get to find, chase and possibly kill survivors.

  • @ProfGameAndTalk said:

I'm not looking to argue, I really don't see the difference and I'm open to any points you can make. Every argument I've ever seen against tunneling could be applied almost word for word to gen rushing.

    1. It isn't fun - (opinion) applies to both
    2. It isn't fair - not a good argument but can apply to both
    3. You get less points tunneling, you get more hits and downs going after more players - applies to both sides, survivors get more points adding in some chases and cleansing totems and what-not

Meanwhile, the arguments FOR gen rushing apply to killers as well.

    1. I need to get the objectives done and gen rushing helps me do that- yeah, killers need to do that, too
    2. Killers have gen defense perks, use them - survivors have anti-tunneling perks too
    3. I'm not breaking any rules, git gud killers! - yeah but players across the board get salty when told this, survivors VERY included.

So is this just an issue of everyone is gonna be unhappy about SOMETHING or is there really a counter-argument that can be made when I say that gen-rushing is the same as tunneling?

Full disclosure: I'm 130 hrs into the game and have a grand total of 3 games as survivor, the first three games I played. When I found how much faster queue times are as killer I tried killing and just fell in love. I've prestiged spirit once but have been leveling all my killers to get access to the perks. I don't tunnel on purpose, but if you get a survivor off hook right freaking next to me I'm gonna get the down and hook again.

Truly not looking to argue, genuinely curious about how survivors counter the points made. Thanks people, love the game!

Genrushing still lets the killer to play. Tunneling prevents a survivor from playing at all. Basically just on hook all game.

You can argue that genrushing isn't fun for the killer. Sure. But at least the killer can still play the game normally. A survivor who spends 95% of the game on the hook basically didn't get to play at all.

I always wondered what made the devs go:

"Let's make an item to circumvent the entire objective system and just let Survivors win without even needing a progress bar."

You people obviously don't even play Survivor, because you're so clueless about how keys work.

You have to finish gens to escape with the key. That, or only one survivor makes it out alive. Originally you had to finish gens to escape even just for one survivor. They changed that with EGC.

What was the idea behind keys? Didn't a possible instant four-man escape at a location the killer didn't even know  seem a little overpowered?

Instant? You need to finish 5 gens for an "instant" 4-man escape.

    Sheesh.

  • Matchmaking in this game has always been wonky, but really the problem is ranking (which the matchmaking is based on) is broken and doesn't reflect anything even close to actual skill and experience in the game. There are a lot of people at Red Ranks who don't really belong there (I am one of them), but it happens because this game awards rank participation trophies like candy.

The one that bothers me the most is during end game and they get downed at the exit gate and either they crawl out of you pick them up and get hit with ds. Either way they get a guaranteed free escape but still feel the need to be like haha gg ez baby killer. It's honestly embarrassing tbh.

A lot of killers do the same thing, they will GG EZ you after they get their 4K. Funny hting is sometimes they don't even get a 4K but they'll GG EZ you anyway.

Toxic people will be toxic, and there's a lot of them on both sides.

I'm kind of getting tired of playing teams who, beyond the obvious advantage of being in comms, also request one of the most OP maps in the game.

I mean, is victory even enjoyable when there's that many variables stacked in your favor? (Obviously they'll also be running at least 2 DS/UB, usually a key and maybe an OoO too if you're lucky. But let's try and limit the discussion to just map offerings for now).

Kinda sick of playing Ormond or Haddonfield.

    I'm all for it.

But in exchange Killer Add-Ons should be disabled in Solo Q.

Way too many broken killer add-ons in this game but nobody bats an eyelash. They might be good for an SWF team. Maybe, if the SWF is actually good and organized. But against Solo Q a lot of add-ons are too powerful.
