I just leveled up Spirit and got it to level 3, it looks okay but I am wondering if you ever got any value from it. Can you guys let me know about it?

I got huge value countering Adrenaline with Terminus and one game it actually got me almost a 2K on Mother's Dwelling from what would have been a 0K. The Survivors couldn't just heal it away, they HAD to open the gates and play the game for 2 minutes just to be able to heal their health state back. They couldn't just go like "lol we'll 99 the gates! HAH, eat that!" and do the epic 99 gates play while they were all broken.

HOWEVER, in other games only 1 or 2 people would be affected by Terminus. Then they buffed Wesker's power hitbox so chases ended much earlier than ever, meaning I didn't even ever really need Terminus because I wouldn't reach endgame nearly as fast.

It's not crazy exciting, but on weaker Killers it's sometimes fun. Maybe Freddy Krueger could use it to bully Survivors into giving him Blood Warden?

Basically killers that you love the idea/visual design of but just can’t seem to have fun playing them.

For me, it’s Twins, Freddy, Doctor, Michael, and Ghostface.

For Twins I really like the idea of a 2-in-1 killer and I even had a lot of fun with them before they made Victor get DS stunned after getting a hit.

For Freddy, he doesn’t really feel like himself and he’s just dull overall, but I love how the dream world looks and I love that we have him in the game.

For Doctor, I love his cosmetics, I like the little chuckle he does and I like how electricity is incorporated into his power. But his power feels so unrewarding yet inconsistent.

Michael is a faithful enough adaptation and he can be fun, but he’s just so simple and can feel powerless at times.

It’s fun to sneak around as Ghostface but playing him really stresses me out for some reason.

Like I really enjoy Freddy Krueger, Twins, Michael and Ghostface, but for me it's a few: Doctor, Wesker, Pig, Wraith, Legion, Clown and Blight.

    • Blight's audio visual design is very cool, but after they buffed him a while ago people JUST play him because he's insanely powerful with good perks and addons. When I played him when he came out, he was one of the most hated Killers just from his low POV and he had a wonky hitbox but he was still very fun. Now just the worst Killer players play him with Pain Res, DMS and whatever just to stomp in pubs.

    • Wraith's audio visual design is lame, but the concept is cool.

    • Clown's audio visual and gameplay area don't sit with me, I like the idea of a creepy clown but he's not very creepy.

    • Pig has no unique TR, being from a franchise that is known for its ICONIC soundtrack it just feels very cheap.

    • Doctor is surprisingly weak and can have a lot of trouble ending chase quickly against coordinated groups, I like everything else about him tho.

    • Legion's gameplay is awesome, his audio visuals suck.

    • Wesker's animations were bugged post-6.2.2, a recent hotfix completely broke all his power animations. Otherwise I mostly like everything about him.

Emphasis on base kit. With add ons dredge is leagues better.

Dredge is unbelievably reliant on haddies calendar (reduced time to exit locked lockers) + boat key/ottomarian writing (increased TP speed/reduced cooldown) it's surprising they aren't base kit.

Dredge doesn't have a chase power when loops are chained together, but he is good at the edges of the map where it's harder to W key.

Basically the point is that killers shouldn't be so reliant on add ons to do decently well. Either haddies calendar should be base or locking lockers should have a bigger downside.

HAHAHAHAH hell no!! Sadako with Tape and Ring Drawing can get kills without any hooks, technically better than Dredge's best addons. However, Dredge is just still objectively better in chase, stealth and more fun.

Killer is the power role and survivors should find the game somewhat difficult unless they work well as a team

Very true, I had good games against Blight on Midwich with Pain Res and DMS, escaping isn't a guaranteed thing but it's not literally impossible.

How is it affecting you if you're not tunneling 15 seconds post unhook please do tell me? Either the survivor does nothing and hides or they have no DS. Why are you whining so hard about killing tunneling?

As long as you're alive as a Survivor, you're a threat to me as a Killer. Why wouldn't I try to get you out of the game early? Would you do gens slower for me as a Killer to help me keep up if I wasn't doing so well???? Why would I respect your "don't tunnel please" if I get literally nothing out of it.

  • @kizuati said:

like legit everyone whining about my DS change, come right up - how does it affect you unless you're a hard tunneling giga sweatlord? mmmm?

If you're on death hook, how is it hard tunneling? Like you have an extra hit you can take and you whine about not having DS on top of that??

  • @kizuati said:

I'm baffled at how BHVR and people in the community think the current stats are okay. Here's my 2 cents on why 6.1.0 was not very good and this is unhealthy. This thread is a bunch of talking points on why the currents stats do,indeed show and point towards this game being killer-sided at the moment & why it shouldn't be.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/GIZ6DKDCAHMO/image.png

Frustration & Stress In Killer Gameplay:

Killer should be harder than survivor and more stressful. That's okay and you should not make the game killer sided to stop that from happening - that's the nature of an assymetrical game. If you dont want to be stressed - play the role that has less input on the match from you as an individual. The current killrate is way too high. This game's issues were certain Killers,Perks and Maps. Not baseline buffs and nerfs.

If Trapper can't win on Cowshed vs a 4-man SWF - nerf Cowshed and buff trapper. Don't buff all Killers,######### over the weakest and most popular role in the game - solo queue - at the same time.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TTA7X9E9N78J/image.png

MAH POWER ROLE! MAH HORROR GAME:

Please just grow up. Just grow up. This has not been a horror game for a while now. It's an assymetrical 1v4 game with some horror elements. The horror aspect of this game is gone for 99% of players when they play enough of this game and start thinking about the gameplay part of the game and focus even a bit on the chase. FOR GOD'S SAKE YOU HAVE AN EDGY COMIC BOOK VILLAIN WITH A NAME SOUNDING LIKE A CATFOOD BRAND DROPPING CHEESY ONE-LINERS AS DAVID DABS ON HIM.

About you, dear killer players, really wanting to be the power role. There should not be a power role in a multiplayer game, period. This is supposed to be an asym multiplayer experience where 4 survivors working together are about equal to the Killer and whoever is playing better comes out on top. Power role experience and your power fantasies of murdering a bunch of helpless survivors belong in singleplayer games. If you want that, still,in multiplayer, you just want to bully people. That's cringe.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/HDOYHOLCL14X/image.png

BUT THE STATS ARE SKEWED - SWF ARE STILL WRECKING KILLERS:

I'll be real with you. Not really, they don't. The times where I get wrecked as Killer this patch is when I make tons of mistakes, get a really terrible map or survivors bring the most busted #########. Usually it's a result of all of the above and mostly my fault.

You're not getting destroyed because you're facing comp 4-man squads. Not even because you're facing really good 4-mans all the time. You're just making mistakes and the other side is capitalizing on them with their strong loadouts. The negative experiences Killers are facing are very often their own fault and then they're not, they're addressed by nerfing maps, certain items/addons & perks.

Is it worth compromising the majority of the playerbase's experience just because some Killers want to feel a power fantasy and not hone their craft? I don't think so.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7LUV6L2VXKL9/image.png

    There's still a power disbalance,though:

Correct. There is. Here's how we address the current issues:

    • Buff Solo Queue players by giving them baseline Kindred and baseline Kindred for when people are slugged for longer than 16 seconds.
    • Significant nerfs to medkits. They're way too strong. Brown medkits should be at 0,5x speed and Green Medkits should be at 1,25x speed at most.
    • Overperforming maps should be looked at - Cowshed/Springwood/Garden of Joy - all of these maps need nerfs, they're substantially skewing the results of all games in DBD.
    • Nurse needs to be significantly nerfed - she brings an infinite myriad of issues, not only ignoring any survivor skill and bringing the game down to "Is The Nurse going to ######### up or not" and making perk design problematic with dozens of perks needing to be nerfed due to her.
    • Buff & Rework the most underperforming Killers, especially those without much of a chase power,or those countered by information sharing between survivors. E.G Hag,Sadako,Myers,Trapper.
    • Revert the baseline cooldown & speed burst changes. - those are really, really bad and should be reverted.
    • All maps should be smaller. There should be no map as large as Shelter Woods & Red Forest.
    • DS should be brought to 4 seconds, with it disabling Killer power usage for 6 seconds and active on both hooks.
    • A nerfed version of Corrupt Intervention blocking two gens for 30 seconds or until a survivor is downed should be introduced basekit.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D5C9YNHSVFK4/image.png

    CLOSING REMARKS:

The 6.1.0 patch was a respectable attempt at balancing the game. It really was. However in responding to valid pain points by Killer players - Maps,Spawns,Perks & Items. Circle Of Healing,Dead Hard,Medkits,BNPS and Cowshed 1v1s were and still are undeniably frustrating. However instead of addressing pain points directly,BHVR has addressed them by machine gunning the whole game into being Killer-Sided,with occasional SWF squads screwing over Killer players unprepared for strong loadouts due to either not running them themselves or playing Trapper.

Wanting this game to not be a 50% split between kills and esapes is unhealthy. This isn't a story mode or a singleplayer game. It's a multiplayer game - you should try to give everyone an equal chance. The top 0.01% of MMR players being able to loop a 1600 MMR Bubba is okay. It shouldn't be balanced for.

The Killer experience will always be harder and more stressfull. You're the only player on your team versus 4 survivors. That's the nature of an asym. Your hand cant be held here, because if it is - you'll ruin the other side's experience 90% of the time.

That DS buff is wayyyy too much. DS TWICE in a ROW?? Are you crazy? Buffs shouldn't be given to previously meta perks, what should really happen is a buff to basekit and a speed boost when using DS. Stunning the Killer more often for longer in more situations is really bad design, and two chances to hold your DS is just stupid.

    • Nerf the dying speed when a Killer is 16 meters to a hook by 100% (120 seconds per hook stage, meaning Survivors could do over 2 gens before going for the rescue.)

    • Nerf Nurse I like, nerf Blight's entire purple+ addon set. Nerf Leatherface's chainsaw around a hooked person to only damage for one health state near a hook in this range, meaning trades could happen without it being a complete loss for the healthy rescuer. Maybe even make Leatherface instantly tantrum when someone gets unhooked near him, which would be lore accurate with the movies.,

    • Make Basekit BT last 30 seconds, and 10 seconds after being unhooked make the Survivor have no collision and hitbox with the Killer. This would discourage tunneling because Survivors wouldn't be able to weaponize their Endurance status effect after being unhooked, and anti-tunneling mechanics shouldn't be able to be used as a mechanic to also weaken the Killer entirely throughout the course of the whole game and weaponized to bodyblock for the rescuer of the unhooked Survivor.

    • Remove unhook healthy grabs from the game, gen and chest opening healthy grabs are fine.

    • I don't like the chase nerfs, considering most Survivors use Prove Thyself I don't think this is some crazy necessary addition, but I would adjust weapon cleaning animations per Killer. Like Nurse could have a 3.5 second cleaning animation, but then Killers like Freddy and Sadako keep their 2.7 second cleaning animation and same with speed bursts.

  • It's just basic polish, like imagine if Slinger's gun and reload were all mouth sounds and when he speared someone they glitched the same way. Wouldn't feel good!

Edit: nvm I responded to the wrong comment, yeah it doesn't grab you from space. The hitbox is now normal, it's just lag if it does grab you unfairly lol.

    Title.

    Help me understand this

I get that dbd is an asymmetrical game as in one strong player (killer) goes against four weaker players (survivors), but that does mean the killer needs to get kills easier and survivor escape less and less?

I truly dont get it, the balance of any game with players against players (even if 1v4) should try to be 50%-50%, or at least try to be close to that number if not if you lose a game as surv (or win as killer) how can you really tell is because you lack skill / items / perks and is not because of game design.

.....Yes. Also, 50-50 didn't mean you killed a few people every game. It meant you killed either 3 people, 4 people or NOBODY. Escaping shouldn't be something you can just expect after making blunders.

To be honest I think people are just running it for objective points since the cap is 10000 now

Yeah the objective points, not the 37.5 second gens if it's a 3 stack. No no no, that would be crazy to even consider.

    @Rongursor said:

Being a main killer I have to say that the staggering amount of people using the prove thyself perk increased by 100%. Between 1 to 2 survivors use this perk in every match I've played. What perk do you use to counter that perk already mentioned? Discordance is the best option? Greetings to all of you!

You counter Prove Thyself by running Discordance and Thanatophobia just in case. Thanatophobia is a pretty good counter if you have 3 people injured because it completely removes any possible speed benefits from Prove Thyself.

You CAN use Pain Res, Jolt, Call of Brine to help you out with gen regression and I personally enjoy these because they're not too hard on Survivors especially when you don't combine all 3 but ideally you should just resort to using Thanatophobia and Discordance so that they get punished no matter what they do.

Discordance is the best counter directly but it's not really the best perk, because any Survivor can still SOLO a gen and then you're out of luck.

I'm not a beginner and facecampers get at least a free 3k after the patch.

If you main Survivor and just started playing Nurse, as we can see by your first game where your Thana isn't even past level 1 and you only have one perk slot, you will get the lowest MMR possible. The only real reason your strategy is working so well is because EVEN by the time your MMR catches up to you, you have learned the basics of the most overpowered Killer in the game that's literally the best at tunneling and camping. Your results would be about the same with Insidious Bubba hiding behind a tree in MacMillan. I have tried facecamping MANY, MANY times as Sadako who can literally go undetectable to great failure. Survivors just do the gens and leave, in a lot of my bad games where I get a 0K I'm not even able to defend the last guy on hook most of the time. Not even because I have to, I just wanted to REALLY SEE if facecamping is as easy as people say.

I discard your experiment completely until you try to replicate this same experiment as Sadako. The same exact experiment, use the same exact strategy as the most basic M1 Killer in the game. Even Myers technically has an advantage when it comes to being an M1 Killer, even Trapper. Sadako has nothing.

Replicate this 10 games in a row as Sadako and maybe I will be convinced. No NOED and Blood Warden but everything else goes.

Treat them like less threatening Dream Snares. Sometimes they will get you hit/pallet out of the way or they will break and they will not do too much for you. That comes with expierience.

    1. so you accept that certain aspects of the game are inevitable? Good start!
    2. "Unfun" strategies do not need to be addressed just being you find them unfun. If I said "swfs should be removed from the game because they are unfun to go against", would you accept that argument? I think what you mean to say is "I don't like getting eliminated from the game early and as such, I want the game to protect me from getting eliminated early".
    3. This is a skill issue. There is nothing stopping survivors from cooperating or playing efficiently. You don't need autopilot mechanics to accomplish this.
    4. Survivor being "unfun" is subjective. and from my first person experience 9/10 times that a survivor says they aren't having fun is because they can't bully the killer lmao. In an asymmetrical game, it is inevitable that at any given point, one side may be having fun at the expense of the other side. But to suggest penalizing strategies we don't like, makes no sense. Teammate getting face camped? Slam gens and body block if you can. But no, let's not come up with counter strategies. Let's create mechanics that will 100% be abused. Makes total sense lol.

Some aspects are inevitable but camping and slugging, with the current gen speeds, slowdown and regression perks should not be possible. You now don't need to camp and tunnel to do really well and it can make a lot of games end much quicker than they need to for some Survivors.

I play mostly Killer and I agree the patch went a little too hard on Survivors and that tunneling and camping can now safely be nerfed into the ground as a result, because most of the time it's not necessary. Adjust camping so it accounts for floor differences and the actual path you would need to take in cases to get to a hook but otherwise yeah, easy fix.

Same room on PS4 vs PC.

The PC one is not true if you run the game on Ultra, but on Low it's true for most maps. RPD is actually DARKER if you don't run it on Ultra.

Sure, the dcs and suicides are making solo q miserable, but lets not pretend that the killer buffs, including tunneling and camping, didn't add to that as well.

I just don't understand, first you say solo q got worse this patch, "left behind big time", but then you say the game got more balanced. Balanced for who exactly?

It did add to it, but I never lost solo queue SOLELY from 90 second gens and chase buffs. It's mostly the toxic Survivors either throwing or not knowing how to play in the first 5 days of the patch.

  • @Adaez said:

Survivors almost never got 30kbps in the past,40k might even be impossible.

When I play good and have a good game, that's very rarely when you play soloq.

You still get less than 30k bps even if you escape, the games just go too fast and the survivor bp gain from objectives is too litle to get more than 30k bps ever.

They didn't scale the BP gain to the new cap, which I think is stupid. There's no way for Killer and Survivor to get anywhere close to full 40K.

  • @EvilSerje said:

I'm speaking about "Strength in numbers" challenge, where you have to have at least one survivor escape while you still in match.

Trivia (can skip to the next part)

Another SoloQ example. I'm 1.2K hours (so no comments like "you just have to play more"). I almost never used DH before, so nothing new for me perkwise, using same familliar loadout.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2P8VZPLY5EIC/image.png

Only once I escaped through hatch as last survivor.

Only 3 games were not 4K.

I have starting to get lots of gold and iri "Evader" emblems and be in chases longer than 2 minutes (exept nurse, ofc), which means killers I'm matched with are completely unskilled. Yet almost everytime is 4K

    Tunneling is off the charts!

Finally got that book challenge because was matched with 3 SWF bully squad and killer was fresh.

    What i wanted to say

SoloQ is literally unplayable, unless you're some pro tournament streamer. Devs should get up the nerve and make a statement: survivor gameplay is supposed for friend play. SoloQ is not meant to be and it's at your own risk. No problem with that, many quesions will be ceased immediately.

System requirements: internet connection, PC/Xbox/PS, 3 friends

Let me give an example: Hunt Showdown. You play 3 vs 3, or 2 vs 2. You can go solo agains duos and gain "underdog" bonus, or agains trios and get super "underdog" bonus. So solo is officially left for streamers, tryhards and challengers. Everyone fine with that. Why just simply acknowledge the same thing in DbD?

That awkward "you kinda can play Solo, but kinda can't" is really disorienting.

    Another thing that stumbles me

Why many perks switches off at the EGC? It's like "You lose, but you can play well and go to the end, and then lose anyway". Why? Why killer is obliged to have win? There's some quota?

Maybe get better at the game dude, I have about your hours and I don't start playing chases against Killers if I know I'm gonna lose them lmao

I don't like the phrase "free escape". Why it is free? I saved DS for the end, I played with my team and helped did 5 gens, so endgame happened. It is not free, it's well earned. That logic make Bloodwarden free kill.

If you helped do 5 gens, then why did your DS still work pre patch? DS was disabled by doing gens, so you weren't doing any gens. You intentionally avoided healing anyone, unhooking anyone, healing yourself and doing gens just to get that DS on the Killer in the endgame.

    @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3087954#Comment_3087954

The issue i see is, that survivors suicide for no reason at all. I continuously see this in solo queue, so i started playing killer with no slowdown perks, no camping/tunneling. Yet the survivors suicided on their first hook left n right. So it isn´t that the "slowdown buffs are to stronk" or "killers only camp now" or "survivor in unplayable because of the nerfs".

Solo queue has a lot more toxicity and bad survivors than ever before with this patch, all the good ones seem to have just given up and tried to make solo queue less fun for everyone.

He is joking. But in every joke is a lump of truth. Killer "do gens" pretty seriously. In one match, that lasted more than 30 minutes, killer repeatedly kicked last gens with CoB, Eruption and Overcharge and withered us in the end. War of Attrition tactic.

That's pretty bad and toxic I agree, but why didn't you get yourself a better 3 gen next to lockers that he couldn't patrol?

IMO they killed the Perk with the reduction to 75%. This is enough to hear a Survivor if you are using a somewhat decent Headset. Which most Killers will use. I think only a very small percentage of Killers are using their Speakers and this probably only applies to console, because they dont bother using a Headset when playing Console games.

The effect of Iron Will being disabled when Exhausted would have been enough. It would be a trade off - either you can be stealthy OR you can run a strong Exhaustion Perk. But not both. While not a fan of this in general (of Perks which cancel other Perks when used by the same side), it would have been a more reasonable Nerf.

If they would have just reduced the Noise Reduction Iron Will would have been killed as well, even when not disabled while exhausted. But with 100% and disabled while exhausted, it would at least have some purpose - with the cost of a trade off.

A good headset to hear a CROUCHED Iron Will user? Hell no, won't ever work unless your headphones can output 170 dB at which point you are damaging your hearing.

The DS nerf was far worse, now tunneling is far easier even with the basekit BT. OTR needs to become a 30 second basekit perk with a 12% haste.

  • You don't even need Iron Will to do that, Sprint Bursting after you pop your 5 second DS pre nerf was pretty good dude.

  • @Ghostofsnow said:

Why they chose to nerf DS then just give us a 5second BT any killer can wait out and decrease on hit distance gains thinking it'd fix camping or tunneling I'll never know.

Really should of given us baseline kindered . Be a big simple buff to solo que and give crutial info on when it's time for a save or not

Basekit Kindred, Empathy and Bond, a ping system, text and voice chat for Survivors only.

The DS nerf makes no sense, the BT basekit doesn't help at all either with the current chase buffs lol

  • @MasterGS32 said:

Well, I just wanted to see if it's only me, or if you all have gotten into matches lately, got chased, got hooked, camped, or tunneled, and then out of the game, with this particular loop put on repeat on each and every single match. Cause that's what's been happening to me lately. And I absolutely got tired of it. I am not a survivor main, btw, I actually main killer, but I have also come to enjoy survivor gameplay as well lately. The problem is that this cycle put on repeat forever has become so frustrating. I promise I am not even baiting BT hits or DSes, I just try to play the game normally, but the killers still just want to tunnel. And I am done.

The last drop was this match I just had against a Nemesis on The Game, that tunneled as I've never seen before. He didn't even try to hide it or to cycle a different survivor in between my hooks. He just tunneled straight in our face and we could do nothing about it because he just tanked all the BTs and the DSes and still went after the unhooked survivor. And he literally tunneled each hook state of each survivor individually. Sometimes I get tunneling a person after 2 or 3 gens have been finished, but I cannot understand a Nemesis that tunnels like that from the beginning of the game till the end of it. It's like that was his sole mission in that match like he was doing an only tunnel challenge.

Because of this tunneling issue the game has, I've been taking it easier lately, playing DBD maybe once or twice a week. Well, I just wanted to say and also let Behaviour know that if they don't do something about tunneling and camping, all the survivor player base will just follow the same path as me. And that is, leave the game. As much as I love DBD and its core design and the 4v1 aspect of it, I cannot physically take more tunneling than I already have. Therefore I must proceed and say goodbye to this game for the time being and look into other games that can actually be fun to play, and not frustrating.

"I'm not a Survivor main no no no, BUT I've been taking a break from DbD because of frustrating Survivor games and I failed to loop well even with pre nerf DS and BT. As NOT A SURVIVOR MAIN CLEARLY PRETENDING BADLY TO MAIN KILLER, many of the Survivor base will take the same path as me, a Killer main, who took a DbD break from being bad at Survivor."

Yeah dude we get it, you were an annoying survivor main who ran meta and still felt entitled to get a full 4 man escape lol

I have to admit, I have been struggling a bit with the self care nerf. I actually couldn't save someone in time because the heal took so long. They died right as I made it; and I took the hit to get there faster for a hook trade. It is insane how bad self care is now. All those people saying I was throwing games for running it, well, they were wrong then. But now? Maybe they are onto something.

Why don't you... Just, bring a medkit? Why did you try to go for the unhook after self caring for OVER 40 SECONDS, why didn't you use Circle of Healing?

  • @EternalSinOfCain said:

Meanwhile I'm doing just fine running We'll Make It, Lightweight, Flashbang, and Iron Will. Flashbang into Iron Will and Lightweight and the killer is going "Who, what, where?" half the time. The other half of the time it's enough of a distraction to make it to another loop. We'll make it for hook saves cause a lot of Killers are enjoying Mangled these days.

I feel like Survivor's these days have no idea how to do anything then use perks that are just "freebies" that require no thought.

Dude yes!! Finally a Survivor who isn't so dramatic about the midchapter and realizes yeah, maybe free DS, Unbreakable and Dead Hard weren't fun to fight most games. Being rewarded for making mistakes.

SC allowed me to be aware if the killer was approaching, which I can't tell by the sounds, to prepare potential escape routes depending on where it popped up from.

Now it simply lights up and flickers and does crazy sht once you're within the TR. Even if the killer is tunneling someone else. So the information is way too much but useless.

Now it fills up when they're getting closer to you, it's more accurate than the TR now.

  • @MrMori said:

I've mentioned this many times, if they want less camping they should absolutely buff time on hook to 80 seconds. It makes sense now that gens take longer.

If chases really are finished faster, and gens are slower, killers now have time to go for more chases, so camping won't be as much of a necessity to win against the strongest survivors.

Currently, hooks take TWO MINUTES to perform a sacrifice. Each stage takes 60 seconds. Are you suggesting 80 second hook stages for a total time of 1 minute and 40 seconds??

Goddamn, man, you jumped to ad hominems real fast.

I don't have the patience to sift through this entire mass when about half of it is passive-aggression and making up your own bad arguments that you can attack instead of actually addressing what was said. I'm just going to hit one or two points. You attacked the other person for saying facecamping isn't an issue that can be fixed without damaging killer agency. In your eyes, this is defending and making excuses for it and you apparently missed the part they said it was bad sportsmanship, ergo they do not support it at all. Like, even in the original post you decided to get mad at @Seraphor for, they talked about several things survivors rightfully hate being subjected to - just as many such things as on the killer side - but all you're getting out of this is KILLER BAD. Actually, it's really ironic that your argument is that survivors can do whatever they want and that's strategy and killers just have to suck it up, but when killers do it, it's miserable and unfun. You're coming across as a photo negative of the toxic killer entitlement you're complaining about.

Alright. Whatever. I'm digressing. Here's my question. How would you penalize facecamping without damaging the other more fair or necessary situations where the killer is around the hook? I don't really care what you think of camping on the whole; if someone is hiding near the hook, or every member of the team is waiting around the area, or everyone is stealthing, or the gates are open, there is zero reason for the killer to go somewhere else. Punishing them in situations where leaving is an objectively bad move is not fair, and savvy survivors will take advantage of stuff like frozen timers or disabled powers to loop around the hook. Here's the deal you're missing; it's really easy to scream about absolutes when you don't actually have to come up with a solution, versus the real issue that every time BHVR's tried to address this, it either didn't really do anything to fix the problem (see: the new 5-second BT and how utterly ineffective it is) or created another issue.

Like, before you call me toxic and a horrible camping killer main and whatever, I hate facecamping and I despise the people that do it for kicks. But I can't figure out a way to fix it. I've noodled on a few solutions for Bubba in particular, but actual basekit for all killers? I've got nothing that wouldn't break more than it fixed.

Also, nice job claiming you have to be an immature manbaby or actual child who should get off DBD if god forbid you ever feel like online gamers are being dicks on purpose. The other day I ran into a Knockout Doctor who spent the whole time slugging and shocking until T3 made it impossible to pick people up, then bled everyone out, then took the last survivor and ran around carrying them to hold them hostage until they finally gave up trying to get a reaction out of them. What would you call that if not bullying? And if you agree that that killer was intentionally playing a bad game meant to make the other players miserable, what do you think about a 4-stack of BMing survivors sending the killer to RPD with 3 oak, quad sabo boxes, and Exponential/Boil Over? What is actually the difference here, when you get a survivor team that is more interested in crapping on the killer than doing the gens and getting out?

If you've never run into a coordinated SWF that did their damnedest to make sure you couldn't hook any of them, you don't play much killer, and you really don't have the grounds to speak on how a killer's a whiny baby for getting upset about it. At the very least, you don't have the right to declare that and then complain about whatever unenjoyable strategy killers use on you, which you seem to be doing.

It's just not fun when people play to make a joke out of you instead of for fun. I like decently long games where a lot of chases and a lot of hooks happen, I don't like waiting out a guy's hook from first stage to death hook. A really good, fun game is if Survivors get over 3 generators and I get 12 hooks and that lasts 20 minutes. Everyone wins, everyone doublepips, everyone gets max bloodpoints, no one loses.

It takes like 16 seconds to bless a totem that's not instantly and its not like they know where all the totems are either so they have to spend time looking for a totem to bless as well just like the killer has to find the blessed totem but at least the killer has a sound queue

16 seconds is literally nothing compared to the 30 seconds or more it would take to find the totem and snuff it out, where I as a Killer literally can't multitask. The Survivors can just have 1 dedicated Boon totem guy that always blesses totems, 1 guy who does chases and 2 people who genrush.

I don't have 2 Killers, they have four people. They waste zero time doing this if they're even a little coordinated. ZERO EFFORT. If it really was a real time waste for Survivors and that was the point, then they should make blessing a Totem take 60 seconds. If they can get so much benefit from it then it would be only fair for the Boon totem user to have to dedicate over half a gen to it.

Again, CoH got nerfed 3 times in 6 months because it was living rent free on killers heads.

Because Survivors were living rent free (uninjured and happy) in matches instead of paying the RENT. (Getting injured in chase and that having consequences)

In case no one has said this already:

    No.

If you can see the border, then you can immediately find the center and on a map that doesn't have multiple floors, that instantly tell you where the boon is. Might I suggest turning your headphones up because the boons literally make noise XD

Yeah the boons make noise when you literally sit on top of one, they don't even alert you when you're in their area like they do for Survivors.

  • @akaTheBARON said:

"Please make it so boons can be found instantly" is just asking for handouts IMO.

Boon: Circle of Healing is a handout of free health states in seconds. Deserves a counter-handout, what's the problem here exactly? Survivors get handouts by being able to crush a Totem they cleanse but Killers need to run a perk to do the same?? Killers can only rekindle Pentimento which can also be instantly cleansed while Survivors can rekindle all of their Boons with no penalty and cooldown? How is this fun and fair? If I wasted time finding the totem and snuffing it out, I deserve at least a cooldown.

IDK what to tell ya, most killers deal with this just fine. And boons? Boons in general are a problem?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/26QTACMDJL7Y/images-281-29.png

Not a fun game mechanic. Doesn't stop a 4K because Boon players tend to be bad at the game too because they lose chases too much, but it turns a 15 minute game into a 40 minute game just to get a 4K. Literally you and all the people upvoting you two have never had to play against a slightly well coordinated team abusing Boon: Circle of Healing to make the game as long as possible.

Half the people here don't know there's no visual notification on screen for the Killer like there is for Survivor because they literally only played Survivor with it and just weren't well coordinated, even Dead Hard in its current state won't save you from dying if you can't use it properly. That doesn't speak in ANY way to how balanced the perk is.

You can be bad with a one shot sniper rifle in a video game, that doesn't mean there can't ever be people who are great with it and make the enemy team's day one of pure suffering. We probably shouldn't use your experience to decide the balance of when and how players get this sniper rifle.

    @Akumakaji said:

That might be a bit much, but for all the utility they bring, Boons are sometimes notoriously tough to find.

One thing that I would love would be if the global thunderclap of a completed boon were directional, ie it gave the killer a general idea in which direction the boon is, but doesn't show it in any way directly.

I think this would make boons much more interesting and a bit more tactical.

This wouldn't be a bad idea. Let the Killer easily know he's in the healing area, then slightly boost the range of the default directional audio cue. You could even get away with revealing the aura of the Boon for 2 seconds after it's placed with a blue aura and as a Killer you would still be way too busy just pressuring gens and chasing people to go take care of it that second.

Considering how powerful Boon is, you could keep the healing speed so there's a point to using it while making it really easy for a Killer to locate it UNLESS they use Shattered Hope and you would get something that looks like balance or buff Shattered Hope.

An even better nerf than that, let Boon only be used 2 times per trial. If a Killer finds your totem TWICE, they already wasted enough time.

Nope. And it was not a "tech" either. This is also funny - DBD-players call everything a "tech".

It IS a tech and it WAS abusing the perk, though. Luckily I can just wait out the timer by slugging you :)

Absolutely beautiful, fantastic example of what I am talking about.

You are right, I did mispresent you, I apologise. For some reason I had this insane idea that killers are not inherently entitled and gave you the benefit of the doubt and didn't accuse you of saying ridiculous like anything a survivor does is unfair but killers can do no wrong and everything if fair because the devs said so. My own fault for treating you like a person and not generalising you into a stereotype, that was my fault and you have greatly embarrassed me.

But seriously your entitlement is astounding. Its amazing how people on the forum will rush to the defence of camping/ tunnelling, slugging. There is always an excuse.

    I'm not camping I'm patrolling

I'm not tunnelling, their team didn't body block

slugging is fine because I'm just applying pressure cause the gens are going to fast

    Its end game

Then you just get the more toxic excuses

Camping at 5 gens is a legitimate strategy cause the devs said it is

There is nothing wrong with infectious fright slugging nurse

Killer is hard which is why I focus one survivor out of the game then I play properly

Its not my job to ensure everybody is having fun

All of it is the same. you're just coming up with excuses to justify your toxic behaviour. I mean look at what you are saying???

"tunnelling is highly subjective. " It really isn't. Some matches people have bad luck and it happens. But we're talking about hard focusing survivors out of the match. Would it have really been to hard to make basekit BT at least 15 seconds? "Oh well survivors will use it to body block." Well I'm going apply the killer logic, used to justify the buffs with new update. "Now that killer is stronger and matches take longer, killers won't abuse this because it just made camping even more viable then it was, because killers have integrity." Well that's my justification for buffing survivors.

Then you defend slugging? Slugging is a legitimate strategy. Dragging a match out, slowing it down to a crawl or not even engaging in the actual objective of killer "getting hooks." but survivors coordinating to save a teammate isn't? What you pick and choose is astonishing. You are just as much a part of the poor sportsmanship you refer to. you are just not as bad as the worse. Its the equivalent of tripping somebody in soccer and then saying "It's fine cause it only kind of bad, I don't elbow people in the face." No, you are a toxic person, where you sit on the toxic, entitled player ladder irrelevant.

But I could forgive all of this, if you didn't say this. " Facecamping at 5 gens is most certainly an extreme example and definitely bad sportsmanship, but you can't penalise it without also penalising the legit strategies above." You can't even call out the worst aspect of the entire game, and say "OK, yes this awful, and massive game changes need to be fix it." Your first response to defend it? The first thing you think when somebody stands in front a hook for 5 minutes is, "This needs to exits, because proxy camping needs to exist." The worst aspect of DBD needs to exist, because otherwise the second worst aspect of DBD would be weaker, amazing logic.

The more I read the more broken you logic is.

"All of these things are legit strategies, except when they're used by a killer in an already dominant position, to bully survivors who are clearly already being outplayed."

Who the F... gets to determine that? I feel like I'm no I'm no longer in the dominant position so I get to use these cheap miserable strategies. Even more astonishing in this post you call tunnelling "Subjective." But now you have ability to determine a match outcome with complete accuracy to justify how toxic you get to be this match. Oh I'm sure you would never abuse that.

Here is the issue, with you and every entitled killer in DBD. This is modern killer logic.

"Killer's want survivors to play in extremely strict ways, and never deviate from this, so they can predict and apply counters. But they don't want it to be effective because otherwise the killer feels bullied."

I hate to be blunt, but I could not care less about somebody "feeling bullied." Its extremally easy and unproductive to "feel bullied." Body blocking is not bullying, doing your objective is not "bullying." Camping isn't even bullying. DBD is has 18+ ratting. You need to be 18 years or older to play this game. If you are younger then 18 and you feel "bullied." Maybe that has do with the fact you are a kid, who should not even be playing this game. You clearly do not have the emotional maturity to engage in this game and its best for you mental development to put DBD on hold until you mature a little. If you are over 18 and you are being "bullied," in an online game cause they did gens really fast or because they blocked the hook. Or even if they camped. "I have never felt bullied because a killer camped me." Its frustrating, boring, but not bullying. But if you seriously feel this way, you have much bigger issues then the balance of DBD.

"No no, Boon is a fair perk, why didn't you just follow that one guy holding W for five hours while all gens pop? Oh yeah you should turn around and walk away if I'm camping the unhooker. You don't get to do a trade, but I get to rescue them and heal them up fully!"

It's not toxic. Slugging? Tunneling?? "Camping"? Are strategies in the game, just like bodyblocking.

I'll be real with you chief this would legit make the perk hot doo doo. Having a border would allow the killer to basically instantly find where the totem is

Yeah. Just like Survivors are able to instantly bless another one or the same one. Yes, an overpowered perk needs only slightly overpowered counterplay that also, while being overpowered, can be instantly countered seconds after you snuff it out. This perk needs to be made this way or the healing rates are just not fair and unjustified.

  • @Bardon said:

The "nerfs" resulted in a grand total of 2 seconds longer self-care and even less impact on the other healing rates - plus with new improved Botany you can take both and get Original CoH speeds, which is just insane given that the stated intent of this change is to improve kill rates a bit. Between this and the nuttery of Endurance Chaining this patch is so survivor-based it's not even funny.

I like the nerfs to holding W but god damn there are like seven billion Endurance based perks now and Healing is even worse?? No nerfs to Circle of Healing either meaning you as a Killer still can't even see the blue border when inside of the healing area.

  • No because as soon as they take a hit they hold W to their Boon healing area until I snuff the totem out, becoming too much of a waste of time.
