  • Yes, the combo is overpowered. Iridescent Head should only function on long range (20m+) shots, and no longer reduce the number of hatchets. This will reward long range snipes on healthy targets, and remove any random shitter just melee hatcheting people to one shot them.

  • It shifts depending on a ridiculous number of variables so much it would be silly to claim any side is stronger.

  • Tbh that just gives you a guilt free excuse to camp two players.

  • Windstorm and Swift Hunt by default and suddenly he's terrifying.

It's not personal. I watch your videos. I listen to what you say.

That said how about you show us how you own Depip squad with Spirit?

A fully functional VOIP using efficient group. Not some randoms.

You demonstrating you have dedicated a good portion of your life to mastering every tile and beating those who do not sink the time into the game won't demonstrate Spirit is OP only that you are. And that's to be expected.

If one spends 10000 hours on Dark Souls to where every single challenge in game is a breeze that doesn't mean that the challenges need to be made impossible for those who do not.

What does that have to do with anything? The topic is "Spirit is impossible to loop", which I believe is true. Where does VOIP come into play there?

Yeah, and going against the best Spirits who know how to play doesn't mean we dumb down the Spirit to the point looping is the safe choice against any player that doesn't make a living streaming.

I'm sorry but your asserting running tiles is all this game should ever be, that stealth means nothing, even though it isn't a 100% failsafe is beyond tedious. We might as well just get rid of all killer powers and make every killer a m1 clone because running tiles is all there should be.

That is at the core your narrative. Any power that takes away a loop or bypasses a survivor safeguard is OP and needs to be changed, leaving us with a dull game of run the tile as optimal until the timer runs out and you go down.

    Boring as hell.

    Killer powers break the linearity.

You might want to play the game like an Esport tournament, most of do not.

I can think of a dozen games easily I'd rather waste time in than playing a glorified game of hide n seek and tag where every tile and chase can be calculated down to the second if no one makes a mistake. The "mindgames" if you can even call walking backwards to disguise a red aura that, are as exciting as watching paint dry. A killer that is a threat though, where you can not plan how to win and have to play it by ear and hope for the best, is much more exciting.

that was awfully personal for a debate about Spirit. I don't get it, just show me these counters. You're very confident in them so just show me and shut me up, its super simple.

I just looped another Spirit today for 3 chases before finally being downed. I didnt use any anti Spirit perks.

Shes really not all that difficult to loop.

"I went against a bad Spirit" does not mean she is easy to loop. Not a dig at you whatsoever. In fact, the Survivors skill is barely relevant against a good Spirit.

  • As I say in many posts about people thinking they can counter Spirit, I invite anyonr to show me these counters in a KYF game. No perks for either of us, because "outplaying a killer" cannot possibly be "hope you equipped the right perks for a random killer."

  • If I had fun, I won. There's no other reason to play the game.

Thats true to a degree I dont even have a headset on half the time as a Spirit since people try and vault not realizing I can see the dust on the vault.

I meant your a incredibly well respected person in this community. Even providing small details like how her glass shards and hair change when shes phasing vs faking. How the enviroment does not actually move when shes walking through grass, but crows still go off.

Providing these details from someone like you. Will at least get people to listen instead of having these arguments constantly how she has no counters has no tells. I mean your spirit guide was legitimately hilarious yet people basically swore up and down for awhile that's how it was without understanding there was more to it then that.

The only reliable thing I could possibly say is to listen for her footsteps to tell if she's phasing. The glass shard thing is dependent on cosmetic and depending on lighting in the map, is extremely hard to notice mid-chase.

Why not help with this information that can help push it towards your direction as a Survivor? A lot of people listen to your advice because your a well known player. So putting the real information out there might help against her.

I don't have real advice. None of it consistently works against a good Spirit. Even if you momentarily avoid one phase, a good Spirit will likely use only a small portion of the power and will have it back in like 6-7 seconds as a result.

  • For all the bits of advice given here, some good, some meme worthy, sadly most of it really boils down to "just guess correctly." There are bits of advice that help skew things slightly more towards your favor, but at the end of the day you are just guessing, which is why most people hate playing against her.

So why instead of increasing her fatigue stun, add a whole new mechanic? If the intention was actually what BHVR claimed, a longer fatigue would have accomplished that.

This was a blatant kick to her map pressure, as Ardetha has said.

Why was Nurse allowed to be the fastest downer and the killer with the best map control? How was that fair?

  • @SteelDragon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/94078/having-seen-new-nurse

nurse will be B tier at best now, next will be spirit to where they will probably make it to where you cant see scratch marks or hear people while phasing without a purple addon at least

Nurse will still be far and above the best killer in the game.

  • That's not lag its an actual bug with syncing positions. Its coding related, not server related.

Tbf, it isn’t easy learning how to counter her. It took me forever and now I don’t even need Iron Will to do it (although I still use Iron Will).

I didn’t dc but it sure took me awhile to learn how to counter her.

Can you show me in a KYF this counter? No Iron Will, you don't need it.

That is my point though, unanimously agreed upon by whom? The vocal minority? It's too subjective to determine and you can't base it on what gets the most DCs in a match either because that just weaponizes DCs like what happened with Freddy.

Again, no one is saying that better balance won't result in less DCs, it probably would, but that shouldn't be the focus of the issue.

There is no vocal minority for things like omegablink and Prayer Beads. Its a vast majority. The only people who don't think those are broken are people that use them.

  • @TAG said:

Overwatch, according to my research, has a feature that allows you to select up to three people and have then placed on a "Avoid as Teammate" list, preventing you from being on your team. It does NOT, however, prevent that person from showing up as part of an opposing team.

So an equivalent here would be a system that prevents you as a Survivor from being paired up with a specific player(s) on the same Survivor team, but it would not prevent you from facing that player if they were a Killer (and it wouldn't allow a Killer to avoid specific people, meaning it basically doesn't do anything for a Killer player).

That wouldn't work in an asymmetrical game like this. Some people only play killer or only play survivor and you can't have too many chains of people blocking each other or the game becomes dead.

  • @Tzeentchling9 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/741602#Comment_741602

And how do you determine "the reasons why people DC" with such a subjective definition?

And don't just say the "commonly agreed upon things" because there is no common ground among players in an asymmetrical game.

There is no subjective definition. That's kinda the thing - there isn't really a solution that works. There are some unanimously agreed upon things which could help if they were fixed but a lot of it is subjective too.

  • Just want to emphasize the uselesness of harsher punishments for disconnecting. It will still not solve the problem of people not wanting to play the particular game they are in. Its just a flow chart:

Disconnecting bannable -> Suicide on hook -> Suicide on hook bannable -> minimize the game until its over -> AFKing bannable -> minimize and move every minute to prevent crows.

No matter what, its the same result. The survivor doesn't play the game and the people left in the game are damaged because of it. You cannot fix that with punishments, you fix the reasons why to begin with.

  • I feel like people always focus on the wrong argument when it comes to Spirit. The main issue is the lack of counterplay / lack of fun going against her, not how strong she is.

  • Self Care is one of the best perks in the game. Its especially useful to get through Sloppy Butcher so you stop bleeding so much. Be sure to heal in a corner of the map away from the killer though.

  • A more important question is why do you care if someone gets out via the hatch? If someone actually uses the hatch without a key (assuming all the gens aren't done), you absolutely won that game, so who cares.

  • Every day i think people that call looping an exploit are just a meme myth and yet every day I see this #########

  • Lunging stops as soon as it detects an obstruction or a player. However, Dead Hard removes your hitbox for half a second. So, the lunge detects the player and stops but the player doesn't have an active hitbox so the attack just stops unless the survivor Dead Hard's early, at which point the lunge will end when it reaches the survivor and will still probably hit.

  • Its not bannable but if for whatever reason EAC does ban you for it Behavior won't help. That being said, no one has ever been banned for it.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/632514#Comment_632514

When he says good he means they don't run in a straight line and know how to play tiles. Does that mean they're actually good though? Its not hard.

There are absolutely skill ranges to survivor. Its extremely obvious when going against a good survivor vs even just an above average one. The thing that separates very good survivors from just decent ones are how efficiently they use pallets. In fact, that's pretty much the entire skill ceiling of survivor: how long you can go without using pallets.

A good survivor and a very good survivor might run the killer for the exact same amount of time, but the very good survivor used half as many pallets and chained together tiles/windows/baited at pallets/waited at corners to prevent moonwalking and various other things to preserve the resources of the game longer.

If I go against a team of 4 equally experienced players, I should expect to kill exactly half of them.

  • While I agree with the sentiment that a lot of things have more counters than you think, there aren't any counters to a good Spirit other than perks, especially if she has Prayer Beads. As far as Omegablink Nurse, there is no counter whatsoever.

  • Its 100% a bug with Steamcharts. There's no way it tanked 1000% in one day, that's literally impossible.

"Spirit can end chases as fast as Nurse"

As someone who plays Spirit and Nurse, this is a Kroc of #########. Spirit takes WAY longer to end chases bc there are far more constraints on her power than Nurses.

She doesn't capitalize on errors as much as Billy does, she has a cooldown to her power (an actual one. Not 2 seconds.) She's a 110 killer outside of her power so she cannot brute Force her way through a chase like Billy can. Windows are her hardest counter, there are perks that Surviviors can run that literally do all the countering for them against Spirit (Poised, Iron Will, lightweight, QAQ).

ALL of these issues she has are issues Billy does not have to deal with. He's a 115 killer so he CAN brute Force through a chase. His power has a borderline non-existent cooldown. Any error against Billy is a hook, not a hit. Windows mean as little to him as they do to any other M1 killer with how gutted they are nowadays. And there are no perks Surviviors run that do all the countering for them against Billy.

"She doesn't capitalize on errors as much as Billy."

Yeah, but this is part of the reason why she's better. Spirit doesn't HAVE to capitalize on a mistake. She can just hit people whenever she wants, from the second the game starts with all the resources still up.

A perfect Spirit can still beat a perfect Survivor where Billy does not have the functionality in his power to do the same.

But why are survivors allowed to make mistake after mistake and stack second chance after second chance while simply kicking the wrong gen can cost a killer the game? The gen kick was a definite misplay, but picking up the Meg after the gens were powered? Definite judgement call. That slug probably gets up as soon as he walks away and he loses the gate anyway against a SWF, which is probably what he assumed. He probably thought it was better to chance the DS. This is where killer frustration comes from. What did he do wrong? Play Trapper? Run some off-meta stuff? One bad play and one super questionable play? Should a killer have to play like an AI to win at red ranks?

Survivors have perks that result in an additional hit needed to down them, and killers have perks that remove that additional hit away (MYC, NOED, Haunted Grounds, Devour Hope, etc.) I dont see a problem.

See right there you just changed the subject, sorry man if anyone plays hillbilly or anyone besides nurse that way, its not the killer's fault but only the player's.

If you chase a semi decent survivor tru killer shack, safe pallets, good windows or semi-infinites and you wonder why the X killer sucks...., you can do that for every killer. Spirit is not as good as people make her out to be, she is not nurse, she doesn't have that much stoping loop potential, is a 50-50% chance, that's not soo good when you put it on paper.

Either way this subject is like beating a dead horse, if you think spirit is better than billy or vice verse, be it man, i don't really have the power to make someone understand if they refuse, i'm a good player that understands the game not god.

    Fun discussion i guess.

holy ######### you actually just said Spirits power is a 50/50 as if scratches, sound, and collision don't exist

  • @switch said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/624609#Comment_624609

I don't care who i am talking to, honestly, as long as they believe spirit is better than billy they might as well don't play this game, its so absurd to even think that.

HB has 1-shot the whole game, at any point you made 1 simple mistake, you're on the hook, spirit at best can get a hit on you, from 1-shot down to 1 hit is a long way to go.

The moblity is the main thing why everyone, played hillbilly in 2016, even if they remove his 1-shot billy will still be top 4 killers in the game, how crazy ??

Should i mention he has little to no cooldown on his chainsaw? yeah 2 seconds, and with addons goes down to literally 0.

Did i mention that spirit takes 30 seconds to down someone, no matter they are good/bad/god.... it will always take 30 seconds to down someone, BEST CASE SCENARIO, it could take up to 60-90 seconds if the survivor knows what he is doing, with decent mobility 90s=3 gens done.

    ######### am I reading.

  • What is this supposed to prove? That one of the weakest killers in the game won't do extremely well against a coordinated 4-man? Like...yeah? Of course? If he didn't make a lot of mistakes in the beginning he probably would have gotten another kill, which would meant pretty much the definition of a balanced match. Seems fine?

  • @Eninya said:

Hillbilly has no cooldown on his one-shot, which is baseline, all the while being the highest mobility in the game.

The Spirit has to rely on inconsistent sound cues, lower movement speed, and a long cooldown on her ability baseline. (She is also ridiculously noisy for a killer that relies on audio.)

Hillbilly is the only killer (with Nurse being a close second) that can use Barbeque & Chili to land on top of a survivor with his power by the time it ends. He is also the only killer that can down a survivor in less than 10 seconds of a match beginning.

Hands down, he's far stronger than Spirit, especially with perks.

He does have a cooldown. Its 3 seconds, which allows for a ~10m distance lead. Sound cues are extremely consistent unless they have Iron Will. The cooldown is based on how long you actually use the power. She makes little sound while phasing.

I've never heard zubat saying that, even tho i don't watch anyone on dbd besides hexy.

I'm going to be honest with you, i don't want to bash on tofu he is a nice guy, but he is not a killer main, and he doesn't even tryhard when he plays, just plays for fun as this game should be played.

I think most of the the people that say spirit is better than billy, they forget that spirit has 15 seconds cooldown every time you fail/hit that is 15 seconds while 3 guys rush them gens, you miss 3-4 phase walks and they got 3 gens.

Well that sure explains your opinion that Billy is better than Spirit.

  • Its easier and quicker to win with Billy against random solo queue people, but Spirit is still significantly better against good survivors which is what matters.

  • @Raptorrotas said:

Every other killer has survivors leading the killer around on a chase: survivor is in control.

For nurse it's her skill that dictates the flow of the chase.

Break line of sight and hide to end bloodlust

If you are not doing that you are not making skilled plays and deserve to get run over by the killer making unskilled plays by getting bloodlust up to 2 or even 3

Healthy survivors can also take a hit for you to end bloodlust. It's a team game, if you don't work together you get slapped

Yeah totally break line of sight on those waist high loops in Barham, k

  • @UltraBanana said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/616124#Comment_616124

Survivors are given 3 lives. They can end the game in 5~ minutes if it is taking a killer to get to bloodlust 2-3 to get hits; straight through ruin at high ranks (if they don't just spawn on it!). The new preschool maps have so many pallets it blows my mind and reminds me of the old autohaven maps before they finally got nerfed. Only the stronger killers can really deal with a full red rank lobby on those maps and they are easily some of the maps I lose the most on beyond haddofun.

Again, we aren't talking about how hard or easy it is to win. We're talking about how the individual survivors feel robbed because they have no options if the killer chooses to play that way.

  • @UltraBanana said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/616050#Comment_616050

To get off bloodlust 2-3 is 30 or 45 seconds; that is more than a gen worth if the other survivors are actually good and rushing gens like they should be. So your strategy is to lose a gen per hit if you are not playing one of the OP killers?

You're missing the point. Its the same reason everyone hated old Legion. The point is, even the worst killer on the planet can eventually down the best survivor on the planet, with very little counterplay involved and without leaving a single loop. Those loops are so unsafe that once you have Bloodlust 2 or 3 a monkey could down you, and that is extremely aggrivating for survivors to know they got downed because of a handicap mechanic, not getting outplayed.

  • I agree. Anyone that knows what they're talking about can tell the majority of the loops on the new Badham maps are made very unsafe with Bloodlust. It kinda just rewards bad killers.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Second window isn't as safe as it appears. You can run up the stairs and dunk on survivors out of the second floor window. But other than that this map is ridiculously survivor-sided and so poorly thought out. My advice to any killer: take out one pallet at a time in the main building and leave it. Don't throw the game trying to break every pallet in there.

Only if the window actually spawns, which it doesn't always.

  • I'd say Plague and Wraith are better but other than that I agree.

  • Yeah he wanted me to get three people and SWF against him but all my friends that are good at the game are streamers and cant stomach playing the game off stream, much less for multiple matches in a row. I'm always down for a solo thing but you aint convincing 3 other people that play 8 hours a day playing to spend even more time testing things they dont care about.

  • I'm sorry if you don't think Nurse addons need a nerf you're a little crazy.
