@ScottJund I want to know what your opinion on this is, I mean Spirit in general, and not her prayer beads.

She is very strong without being overpowered. In a chase, there is little a survivor can do to counter a good Spirit in the same way there's little a survivor can do to counter a good Nurse. Once the survivor is injured and they don't have Iron Will, they're dead.

@miaasma A wheelchair? Girl please. If you actually played killer against good survivors you’d notice that survivors typically have the upper hand unless you’re using the top four killers or moris.

Legion pre-rework actually had no counter. Spirit does. You’re sitting here complaining about the dumbest damn things. Maybe you’ve gotten your ass eaten too many times by a Spirit but if you’d actually try counters then you’d have more success.

...and yes, I stated AGAIN that you have perks to use to counter her. Use them, if not...don’t ######### and moan that she is uncounterable.

They are working on things that have no actual counterplay. They fixed Legion and now Mettle of Man is getting a rework. The ONLY thing that Spirit has that has zero counterplay is Prayer Beads, which I agree should be reworked. Other than that she is fine as is.

I’m also pretty sure if you’d look back at the responses, the majority of the people on this thread aren’t agreeing with what you’re saying. So don’t be coming at me sideways saying that my responses are inadequate when all I have to do is look at your vote ups vs vote downs ¯\(ツ)/¯. Is that enough “fluff” for you or do I have to S P E L L it out for you?

Don't you think its a little silly that you have to have equipped a perk to counter her before knowing who the killer even is?

  • I'd like to invite anybody here claiming Spirit has counterplay without Iron Will to KYF a few chases. Maybe I can learn something.

  • I don't think Spirit is overpowered. I think she as close to overpowered as you can get while still being "okay." She's currently my favorite killer to play.

That being said, there really aren't ######### for mindgames the survivor can do against a good Spirit unless they have Iron Will. As the Spirit, I can just wait for the survivor to run into me. If they just run away instead, then I just actually use my power as soon as they're out of the safety of whatever loop they were in. I don't even have to be precise because they've already left a tile and there should be some space to the next one. There really aren't many things the survivor can do.

  • Playing around it how? Just never touch generators again?

  • People complain about it because there is essentially no counter to it. If you're bringing Spine Chill and Premonition in every match in the off chance you just happen to run into a Prayer Beads Spirit, you're kinda already wasting two perk slots every game for two mediocre perks (compared to the best survivors have).

Pretty much, it negates all skill. The best Survivors in the game can't just randomly predict the killer is a Spirit with Prayer Beads as they get grabbed off a generator - that's an awful feeling. You don't feel like you got outplayed, you just got cheesed.

IKR? Not sure why I bother. Scott said the game wouldn't work, it definitely will. What would make it not work is the community and the way they react to things.

Nothing against your rules. Im just saying making rules for a game like this is pointless. You could have the best rules in the world and the simple RNG layout of a map can completely negate any fairness, making it a joke. It would be like having a MOBA tournament with a chance that your towers dont spawn.

  • Please stop even encouraging tournaments for this game. It is way too badly balanced and far too RNG heavy to come even remotely close to having s respectable tournament. Its a silly jumbled mess, just have fun with it and take it lightly. No idea why you'd spend so much time on this.

Sorry, but every game that is worth its salt and called a competitive game is balanced around the top players.

DBD is a competitive game whether you like it or not. It has a ranking system, and no, it doesn't matter how flawed that system is. The devs have shown they were even interested in eSports once. This game, as with any game, should be balanced around the potential of what can occur at the highest level. Even Super Smash Bros, a game that is intended to be casual by the developers, is still balanced around the top level of competitive players.

You really don't understand how game design works.

If you're playing this game "competitively" you're gonna have a bad time.

  • Yes some of them were very against old Legion.

  • @GrootDude said:

@ScottJund you can’t always “just blink to the corner” so yes, prediction is a part of Nurse. Not every LOS blocker is one that you can just blink to the corner and see the survivors.

How so? Am i not getting what a corner is

"Remember guys, Nurse has no counter and in case u counter a nurse then she is just trash and you got lucky *omegafacepalm*"

A nurse can't blink perfectly every single time, especially not with the 1st blink. In case she does THE SURVIVOR can't juke and doesn't use LOS blocks. Cuz with LOS blocks a nurse has to GUESS which opens mindgames and as long as u aren't predictable and are reading how she adapts to you it's going to be a long chase.

Again, the Nurse doesn't have to guess anything. You just blink at the corner where you lose LoS, and use the second blink after rotating around to see if they either double backed or kept going. ######### ain't rocket science.

Really? You're honestly going to sit here and pretend that the reason that mlga was made was for an accurate ping system?

Actually it was made before a ping system even existed, so yes.

  • @Maelstrom10 said:

Moonwalking is an unintentional mindgame you can pull against very good nurses. So with the skill of the nurse goes up so does the survivor.

Run towards an experienced nurse and moonwalk backwards 😏

This does indeed work on players that cannot discern the direction objects move.

  • @Dehitay said:

Lol, ironically, I just got out of a game where somebody straight out admitting to using mlga for the express purpose of blocking people they don't want to play with. The timing of confirming what that application is actually for is brilliant. Finding the true ping of killers? Ha, as if the in game system is so erroneous that a whole new program would be popular enough just by being more accurate.

The in-game ping system IS that erroneous. That's exactly why it was made.

Yea, I am by no means saying I am the best with her and I can definitely improve.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/505324#Comment_505324

A few games on YouTube doesn’t prove anything. As I said, I am not at my full potential with her and even I have had games where I demolished teams. I guarantee the nurses you are referencing have bad games

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/505311#Comment_505311

There’s still a mind game to that. Survivor can wait at the corner, go forward, or go back. Nurse still has to guess to some extent.

Its mostly in the Nurse's favor at that point, and even if she screws up, she can just try again in literally 3 seconds.

  • @Dehitay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/505290#Comment_505290

Really? That's definitely not what I heard about MLGA. And if that's all it does, that application is so useless I don't see why it would be popular enough for people to know it by abbreviation.

Seeing the true ping of a killer is extremely useful. You can see a bunch of spikes and leave before the game starts to avoid a Wi-fi gamer, ######### like that.

  • @Dehitay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/505293#Comment_505293

That's funny considering the very first post in this thread clearly says to counter her by breaking line of sight and doubling back.

Okay and what if the Nurse is actually not stupid and blinks at the corner where she loses LoS and uses her second blink to adjust, instead of doing what most Nurses do and try to blink directly on top of the survivor?

  • @Dehitay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/505293#Comment_505293

That's funny considering the very first post in this thread clearly says to counter her by breaking line of sight and doubling back.

Okay so the Nurse blinks at the corner where LoS is lost, and uses her second blink to adjust to whatever direction you head. That's with no addons. Solid game plan.

  • Every time I see people say you can counter Nurse no one ever actually says how, they just say "DoNt LoOp"

  • Peanits is my dude. Every time I'm about to respond to something he somehow has already said exactly what I would have said before me.

  • That's not even how MLGA works. It just shows pings and whether or not you've marked the ping as Loved or Blocked. It doesn't block connections.

    Wasn't that last year?

He still promotes the game and like I said, he stopped the toxicity, but it's fine. The only thing I don't understand is when are some people like you are going to stop seeing him in such a bad light.

I pointed out 2 others but you want to make this about No0b3. Whatever.

I like noob. We're friends. What does that have to do with why the devs wouldn't like him

  • @CallMeSpidey said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/501041#Comment_501041

You're obviously exaggerating as I only pointed out non-toxic streamers.

I watch Puppers constantly and he's a chill guy.

    No0b3 stopped the toxicity.

no0b3 literally hacked in items and then made a video blaming the devs for banning him while lying about why he got banned. If that doesn't make the devs hate you forever nothing will. They had every right to not allow anyone to talk about him.

Again, none of this matters because its an anniversary stream and spamming random content creators contributes nothing.

  • @CallMeSpidey said:

Dead by Daylight wouldn't be the same without No0b3, Puppers or Monto.

Stop being sensitive DBD, I don't even know who Cauliflower is but I know she has 1/3 of viewers what Puppers has and 1/7th of what No0b3 does.

These streamers exist and some (like Puppers and Monto) should be recognized.

Puppers on average has about 1.4- 1.8k viewers.

No0b3 has about 3.8-4.2k on a normal basis.

Ochido also gets hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube, so we should like him too and talk about him in an Anniversary stream chat, got it.

Should probably lock this thread, nothing good will come of it.

  • Well they definitely do not like no0b3 for good reasons but I don't know about the others. Nevertheless, spamming random content creators names in the stream should be time out regardless of who it is because it contributes nothing and only serves to create drama.

  • @Acromio said:

There's no such thing as "mindgames" in DbD. It's just a word used by people who don't know what they're talking about, but still want to sound clever. Split-decision doesn't take any kind of mentalism.

You might be bad at the game.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

Which is why we don't want that. I just want to do proper mindgaming which REQUIRES unreliable information. Looping does not provide unreliable information since I know for sure where the Survivor is as the Killer (using scratchmarks and/or vision) and the Survivor knows where the Killer is (using 3rd person and/or red stain)

Therefor Mindgames cannot meaningfully occur most of the time while looping. Yes there are exceptions like a few loops in maps like Larry's as well as the entirety of the Spirit (who I main btw). But in general most loops occur in places where the Killer and Survivor have vision of each other.

Thus you aren't having any mindgames. Just routing.

You need to try to understand certain tiles better because that's completely untrue. There is a "breakoff point" on most loops where both the killer and survivor cannot see each other.

  • @KaoMinerva said:

Not surprised the devs won't confront this issue. Remove looping, game is instantly shifted towards the power role... Like it should be.

Looping is Dead by Daylights core gameplay loop. If its removed the game decomposes.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/445426#Comment_445426

Some people don't like running in circles all day and pretend mindgames are happening.

Except most loops aren't circles. They are tiles with LOS breakers that grant the ability to mindgame. Its how some players are better than others.

  • I don't understand why killers hate looping. Its like the only time when mindgaming can actually happen. Searching for hiding survivors is the epitome of boredom.

Are you comparing omega blink nurse with 4 perks to perkless/no items SWF?

No, Omegablink Nurse is way stronger than that today

  • I feel like the add-on argument is really weak. With BBQ you can clear a full bloodweb every game. If you wanted, you could have infinite addons of any kind barring maybe ultra rares.

What if I did the same experiment but with killer and won 100 games in a row with someone like Spirit? Would that mean anything? I don't think it would.

I think this game is balanced around regular SWF. Solo queue is a nightmare and depip squads are too strong, but they also barely exist.

  • You'd have to be batshit insane if you think survivor is the easiest its ever been. Its like the first year of the game didn't even exist to some people.

  • I still think these experiments were meaningless. All they proved was that if you did the strongest thing you could do as a survivor (4 man genrushing with comms and perfect coordination), you will rarely lose.

Like...no #########. If you do the strongest possible thing you can do you will win the majority of the time against mostly random people.

If you do the strongest possible thing you can do as killer (Omegablink Nurse) you will win the majority of the time. Both sides have an option to do something so brokenly strong that few things will counter it.

But the reality is: you extremely rarely go against a truly good Nurse who is also using omegablink, and you extremely rarely go against a very coordinated 4 man SWF who is playing like they're in a tournament for some reason, so why would anyone use any of this information as a reference of balance?

Saying "SWF is too strong, look at the Marth experiments" is as dumb of a statement as "Killer is too strong, look at Marth playing omegablink Nurse." You're ignoring the other 99% of games that aren't these situations. Normal, even four man SWF groups, do NOT play like that.

Everyone always says "The point was to prove how broken SWF CAN be" but Omegablink Nurse in the hands of an extremely good Nurse player is absolutely just as broken and for some reason no one ever comments on that.

  • I usually stop for just a second and note the movement of the corn / survivor. Its much harder to notice movement when you are also moving.

  • Usually all posts involving TydeTyme devolve into people insulting him so I assume that's what happened.

  • @bubbascal said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/423203#Comment_423203

… Cool? Doesn't matter about any of those things, you can still be wrong on a Killer he clearly know nothing about.

"He isn't wrong in this argument." Ah, can you show your bias in this matter any more? And he is wrong, I've demonstrated as such.

"If you think these pro-Survivor changes that WILL destroy a Killer are a problem, then you need to GIT GUUUUUUUD!!!!!!1". I can play almost any other Killer in the game, and typically enjoy it. I've gotten to rank 1 as PS4 Killer multiple times under old system. YOU get good, Jan.

Doc gets looped without his power, he's slightly faster than Legion and can MAYBE hit a Survivor before they can reach the next pallet if they don't vault at all. Maaaaybe. 😀

    Unless I misinterpreted that?

I'll say the same thing to everyone that unironically says Legion has counterplay. Let's go in a KYF game and I want you to last longer than 30 seconds. If you can, you countered him and I'm wrong. If you don't, you're talking out your ass.

  • @bubbascal said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/422970#Comment_422970

Aaaaand there you have it. The real audience this was for: Toxic Survivor mains who want to be Noob3 and loop Killers all game. But they are upset because they can't do that with Legion. Any other Killer gets no complaints because they can be looped all game.

Just admit you wanted Legion removed altogether, not balance.

Oh, and, I don't normally use Frank's, but if I see you on PS4, I'm tunneling you with Frank's Mixtape and mori with your name on it. 😁

Can you truly, truly not see how a killer with no counter in a chase is bad for the game? That someone with 5 minutes in the game can down someone with 6000 hours in the game because the power requires zero skill?

If you seriously think that you have to be terrible at the game or something.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

@ScottJund again you can't get looped and get even 5 pallets gone before half the gens are done.

You're ignoring that while i'm breaking pallets i'm not killing so 3 survivors are on gens

Give me more time so its actually viable and i'll break pallets

5-6 Pallets are sometimes half of the entire pallet count of the map.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

@ScottJund Good argument if there was one on the map.

Are we meant to just break every one? The gens are done by then.

Unless given a tool like hatchets blinks or frenzy

Nope, not all pallets are safe. Even so, you don't have to break every pallet on the map, you just have to break enough to make a dead area near generators so the survivors are forced to go into an area where they cannot do anything to evade you, or do nothing at all to progress the game.

  • Have you considered breaking pallets? I think that counters them from existing I'm not sure though.

  • I don't mean him as a person or anything dire, just no one will miss him playing Legion.

  • That is not how refunds work. They could literally make Legion immobilized in a wheelchair without the ability to attack and you still couldn't request a refund for it.

  • If you are a Legion main nobody will miss you. :|

  • I think the argument of whether or not it is a true exploit isn't the correct argument. The real argument should be "Am I a massive tool for moonwalking with Legion?"

    Yes, yes you are.

  • Hello all, I started playing DBD with 2 friends about 3 weeks ago; they both play survivor so I spent my first few days as survivor.

Hey there, you said you were new to the game so let me assure you it gets a lot less stressful and more fun the better you get as killer.

    1) Bloodlust is trash

Its trash because its unneccessary the vast majority of the time. You never rely on bloodlust to down people, its just sort of an added bonus you get sometimes on really, really bad setups, which there are few of. You should get it out of your head that bloodlust is even something you should play around.

    2) Flashlights w/ SWF are broken

This is very frustrating for newer players but when you get better you eventually learn that the more flashlights the opposing team has, the easier game you'll have. More time spent chasing teammates with a flashlight = less time on gens = you win. You can also get free downs by baiting a fake pickup and downing the person who is coming for the flashlight save. I promise you, you'll learn to love Flashlights once you get good at killer (Unless you're Wraith or Hag)

    3) Survivors Control The Game

With the exception of 1-2 maps, both killer and survivor have equal input the majority of the time. Just as they can pressure you to move somewhere, you can pressure them with smart hook placement, slugging, etc. Its absolutely a common misconception that survivors are the only ones in control and its an argument a lot of bad killers fall back on to justify their lack of skill. Try to be more open-minded about it.

    4) Survivor Add-Ons Are Better Than Killer Add-Ons

I would very much like to see the addon that let's the Survivors instantly kill the killer from full health, or down them at range, or double the charge speed of a chainsaw. Both sides have very strong addons, and that doesn't even cover Moris.

    5) Coordinated perk teams dominate a killer

Of course extreme coordination is strong. Why wouldn't it be? If you are getting "safe unhook hits leading to no downs" you should stop tunneling the person off the hook. This avoids i-frames from being unhooked, and it avoids borrowed time. Just hit the guy doing the unhooking.

    7) Looping Can Get Ridiculous

With the exception of a few maps (Like those in the Farm realm), Killers and Survivors have equal input on loops. If they're running around a jungle gym, you can just as easily moonwalk a fake direction just as easily as they can predict that and just leave the loop entirely. Its completely 50-50 in the power department on most maps. The reason everyone hates Farm maps is because that mindgame doesn't exist as all of the tiles are transparent. For shorter loops with no possible mindgames, they only take 5-8 seconds to run around twice and force them to drop the pallet. Its barely any time.

    8) Some Maps Totally Suck For Some Killers

This is 100% true and has been a complain since the game has come out.

    9) Survivors often get as many or more more points than you do

If you are getting less points than the Survivors as killer you are doing something MASSIVELY wrong. Either camping or tunneling, but that is 100% on you. I lose games and still earn more than every survivor on the opposing team.

    10) The overall experience is stressful and frustrating

Its only stressful and frustrating because you are getting bullied, which of course would feel bad. I promise you, when you get better it gets far less stressful and way more fun.

  • @The_Crusader said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/381130#Comment_381130

Read the comments I was replying too.

First post lists killers as overpowered, strong, BALANCED, weak. Then next post said the killers listed under balanced aren't viable at red ranks.

That's a contradiction imo. If a killer is "balanced" which was the word used then they should theoretically be viable at red ranks.

Now the argument I'm getting is the devs have a different idea of what balanced is so I'm not sure why OP didn't just list his idea of balanced to avoid the confusion.

I see, I just don't understand what the phrase "viable at red ranks" means as if rank is some grand determiner of skill.

  • @The_Crusader said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/381051#Comment_381051

If they aren't "rank 1 viable" then they aren't balanced.

And honestly for people whose idea of balance is a killer who can zoom across the map in mere seconds back to back with no cooldown, and has an instadown so easy it gets used in place of his regular attack 90% of the time then I think it says more about that players skill level than it does the game.

What does that even mean? Every killer in the game is red ranks viable. If we're talking like tournament-levels then sure you've got Nurse and maaaaybe Spirit but what does "rank 1 viable" even mean?

1 … 14 15 16 17 18 … 20
