Why isn't content properly tested by competent people before they decide to release it?
I don't get it. Ptb is only for bugs and minor tweaks before the final release. At least it should be.

I'm sure they test content prior to PTB. Not enough, apparently, but I don't think they can afford to hire testers by the hundreds. And with so many changes in each patch, chapter, paragraph, rework, etc, there's bound to be a significant numbre of bugs and other issues.
There's probably another reason too: many players like contributing to the development of new content. It offers us a chance to
hysterically cryvoice our constructive criticism. They only need 5 people decent at the game and 5 games to see if something is very wrong or unbalanced.
Some will say say that game shouldn't be balanced around good players and I disagree.
I'd like the idea of giving early access testing to their Fog Whisperers so they could get some balancing feedback prior to the PTB. It's become a pretty regular event for killers to be weak on the PTB and weak on release. They need some people who actually know what's going on in the game to tell them.
Isn’t that the point of testing? To test something that isn’t fully competent in order to receive feedback to improve?
I disagree with your disagreement.
Sorry, but every game that is worth its salt and called a competitive game is balanced around the top players.
DBD is a competitive game whether you like it or not. It has a ranking system, and no, it doesn't matter how flawed that system is. The devs have shown they were even interested in eSports once. This game, as with any game, should be balanced around the potential of what can occur at the highest level. Even Super Smash Bros, a game that is intended to be casual by the developers, is still balanced around the top level of competitive players.
You really don't understand how game design works.
If you're playing this game "competitively" you're gonna have a bad time.
Both things can be true. A pvp game is by nature competitive, and this game is such an unbalanced mess that going in with a competitive mindset often leads to frustration.
Game should be balanced around good players to make people strive to get better.
This game actually rewards bad plays with how some of the perks are designed.
We are the QA testers XD
It's still a TEST build, not the finished product.
100,000 players is still different to a few in house testers with certain play styles.
But hey, Don't play the PTB if you have a problem with it
The issue is not the ptb but who decided ghost face was ready for a ptb at all. He needs a rework to be just average at best.
hence "test build"
PTB’s mean next to nothing as the devs don’t listen. Also test build doesn’t mean ######### if the killer is basically finalized. They seldom change much from ptb.
@sorrowen Because they do them just 2 weeks from launching it
That's their schedule they'll rush it out if they have to despite needing more time for bigger changes they have to get it out to start the content thats due 6 weeks after that...
They seem rushed/over worked
playtesting is bar far my least favorite part of development, especially since it usually takes a lot of different outlooks and approaches to correctly find balance oversights/glitches/conflicts and so on. Then after changing the values and making other adjustments, you need to retest them from multiple approaches again.
Its completely understandable for the PTB to be the main source of information when it comes to playtesting, since the sample size is fantastic allowing for a lot of different situations to arise naturally. Unfortunately the issue usually comes with how that data is interpreted....
This. I cannot stand how they say they balance around rank 20. Sure, this might make newcomers enjoy the game a bit more in the beginning, but how long do you stay a rank 20?? If you want people to stay for the long haul, this is a bad idea.
PTB is such a waste of time i mean look at every PTB since legion. Legion wasn't changed (except animation after hitting someone two while in frenzy). Plague was way better in PTB (his movement speed add-ons was very good) they got nerfed on live update.
Legion changes in PTB was exactly the same in PTB and live release. there was two versions the first one was bad, the second one better but still bad. Now he is barely a mid-tier killer but have potential to be high tier.
As ghostface once they fix his stealth issues he will be another mid-tier/ Enduring-spirit's fury killer. The truth is that devs is scared to make another high-tier killers like Billy/Nurse. Red ranks is all about them.
Perks are always the same (Survivors : MoM , Adrenaline , Dead Hard/Balanced Landing , DS , BT)( Killer : BBQ , Ruin , SF , Enduring , Bamboozle , M&A).
Map design : crotus prenn , haddonfield , wretched shop those map we know the issues.
This could all be tested on PTB , being more balanced for all ranks but devs are clueless. Tagging them will only bring no reply or another disappointing reply.
I disagree. there isnt a rank. The number you're referring to is CALLED a rank. But all it does is give better matchmaking. Real ranks grant rewards, and dont typically reset once a MONTH.
Saying DBD has a rank or is a ranked game is a joke.
