Well, thanks for at least being honest about it. It's more obvious now to non-streamers like me where streamers' priorities lie. I think it's good that I ( and possibly others) understand what your perspectives are.

Trust me I'd much rather just have the old rank system where I could get perfectly fine queues at Rank 1.

I think inkedsoulz is saying that if you are deranking for faster queues because all the best survivors are also deranking, then you (and those deranking survivors) should just stop deranking, and encourage everyone else to stop deranking - so that you would be able to face each other at the appropriate rank, along with all the other Rank 1-3 folks who don't derank in the first place.

But if you are saying that this isn't enough - that even if all the red ranks stops deranking and you are all where you are supposed to be, that this still isn't creating fast enough queues for you, and that you need to play with the bigger pool of lower ranked players (who would actually be lower ranked players if people stopped deranking) to keep your stream going, well then, you don't really care about stomping on people who can't fight back, do you?

Or not care enough about them to inconvenience your queue time.

Luckily that's not the reality and there are good and bad survivors on basically all ranks.

Are you implying that you derank because you want to face them more often?

Then you should encourage all those survivor streamers or good survivor players to stop deranking, since they doing it will influence a lot of their viewers/other people to do the same. if none of them deranked you wouldnt need to derank in order to find more tough matches.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat the same sentence: I derank for faster queues. Before the emblem system, I never deranked because queues were faster. The end.

And by doing so, you cause longer queues.

That is...not at all how that works. Rank 1 two days after rank reset on killer - 5 to 10 minute queues. On survivor, instant queues, every time.

Bullying noobs for either side should be a big no no I agree with the ban

Wanting to play at lower ranks doesn't automatically mean bullying. The pipping system for survivor is so screwed up that it's easy to end up at a rank where it's absolutely impossible to enjoy the game.

Was watching a small streamer, plays DbD only occasionally, she's nevertheless rank 1. She played at rank 1 for 5 1/4 hours and escaped only twice during that time, once vs a meme Leatherface insidious-guarding his basement chest. Multiple times the killers had 4ks even before hatch was unlocked. Towards the end the only reason she kept playing despite being deeply frustrated was because she was hoping for one good match to finish off which never came. Despite playing hopelessly unsuccessful at rank 1, she didn't drop in rank either and when she dropped to 2, she was back at 1 the next game despite having a bad game.

I hate playing at higher ranks as well, mainly because the fellow survivors you get in solo queue are on the same skill level of those you get on rank 15 (red ranks didn't change anything), but the killers get better and better and fully perked out and totally tryhard I can't easily 1 vs 1 them anymore (which is necessary considering my teammates are mostly more of a burden than help). Moreover, almost every single game 3rd person got slugged to deny the 4th the hatch. Makes the last four minutes of the game terribly boring.

I am managing my own rank by simply playing at most one survivor game per day, and many days I don't play at all. Last season I managed to never get higher than 11. I would rather like to play more and not be forced into simply playing only one game every couple of days.

So you guys want to play against newbie killers, that chase you a little bit, but they are not able to catch you, just for your own enjoyment?

Maybe you are not trying to intentionally bully, but wanting to play at a lower rank compared to your own skill level just in order to have easier matches is like bullying for those lower rank players.

You guys really, really have to stop equating rank to skill level. Yes, it matters from like 15-20 because those are the genuine new player ranks, but once you get above that, while higher ranks will probably have a few more good players than not, it truly, truly does not make much of a difference. Everyone knows that equating your rank to skill in this game is something only new players do.

You said it yourself "...while higher ranks will probably have a few more good players than not..."

So you guys try to stay on lower ranks on purpose in order to avoid facing those extra "few" good players, just so you can have more amount of easy matches.

I do understand when people try to stay on lower ranks in order to get faster queues.
But staying on lower ranks just for the sake of having easier/funnier matches doesnt seem right to me(it might be fun for you, but probably not for the other side)

I actually have less fun bullying babies. All of the fun of killer is outplaying the survivor. If they don't know how to do that I'm sorta just stomping on people who can't fight back, which is lame. And no, I'm not trying to dodge the few better players at high rank. Actually, all the best survivors I know are lower rank because they derank, so Ironically I have more tough games at low rank than high rank.

Unfortunately it's the closest metric we have to skill level. Even in spite of intentional deranking, inactivity, etc.

That's pretty much the point of ranking.

There are just far too many variables involved in the game to equate the two though. Its not the closest thing we have. It isn't anything. Its a measure of how much you play the game, which is not always correlated with skill at it.

Basically your calling the developers sell outs to the highest bidder who can provide the most free exposure. Fair enough.

    @Jendenise @ScottJund

I don’t agree with Jendenise nor ScottJund about this either.

Jen says it’s for the sake of “fun” because it’s boring facing the same people over and over again. Well, all I can say to that is tough #########. She needs to realize it may be more “fun” for her and her viewers, but it is NOT AT ALL fun for the Killer player to be stomped all over by players with 1/4 her play time. She is making fun for herself, her SWF group, and her viewers “more important” than the Killer’s she faces “fun”. She is willing and ready to ruin their fun and game experience for her own personal “fun” and the “fun” of her viewers. It is not at all right she places herself and her viewers entertainment above that of others.

The same applies for ScottJund. I don’t care how long you have to sit in a lobby. If your viewers leave because it’s boring and takes too long, that’s because your viewers don’t appreciate you for you, not your gameplay.

You both wont like what I have to say next, but you should both take a page from Tru3’s handbook. Every day he starts the stream and simply has an hour long talk with his chat. Even during this time he has 800-1000 viewers. No gameplay, nothing but some chill music in the background and chatting away. He also suffers from long lobby times and facing the same Killers over and over. Other than some occasional lobby dodges of obviously SWF stream snipers, he keeps a well healthy viewership of 2000+ a day. Tru3 fans are there for him, the streamer, the gameplay is nice and we like it, but we’re more there for him. Even when he played Magic The Gathering for sponsored stream he had well over 1000 viewers. Most of us were regular subs as well as new blood.

If you have to cheat the ranking system to keep your viewers entertained, based solely on gameplay to keep them around, maybe you should take a harder look at the viewers you attract. If they aren’t there for you, more than your gameplay, then it’s not the game that’s at fault.

You're entertainers, don’t blame the game when you fail to entertain your viewers on your own without the game doing the work for you.

I think I accidentally deleted my response to this. Basically in a nutshell its that tru3 spends way longer doing nothing on stream because of terrible queues, and as such his channel's growth has been far slower than mine in terms of DBD. Core viewers will watch you do anything, but new viewers will not stay and watch you stare at a lobby every 10 minutes. Its not like I'm going into the brown ranks either, its literally just like Rank 1 to 6 or 7. There's essentially no difference in games other than queue times after rank reset.

You're entertainers, don’t blame the game when you fail to entertain your viewers on your own without the game doing the work for you.

You really don't understand streaming. Of course I have viewers that stay for me and I'd still do just fine playing lobby simulator all night. However, it stunts growth when the only thing a new viewer sees on your stream is you waiting in a lobby for 10 minutes, every 15 minutes. If less time is spent on actual gameplay compared to sitting and doing absolutely nothing, you will absolutely not grow as much as a streamer. Your main viewerbase will stay, but you will not retain new viewers as easily.

If you're trying to win an argument with numbers, consider tru3ta1ent has over 4x my followers and gets around 1800-2400 viewers, while I get around 1400-2000. Those ratios do not match at all. His avg. viewer growth in the past year with DBD is 44%, and mine is over 200%. I'm not even remotely trying to measure dicks here and I actually like tru3 now since he's improved his attitude quite a bit over the months, I'm just showing that the numbers are actually supporting me, not you. New viewers do not want to watch people sit in a lobby for 10 minutes only to play a 5 minute game, no matter how charismatic you are.

It's not like I'm deranking into the brown ranks either. Its just enough to be able to find games fast enough, usually purple ranks. There's pretty much no difference in skill between red and purple, just more games.

If you are a better survivor than me, that's fine, but it isn't relevant really. What counters a good nurse? LOS and knowing when to double back...iron will and whatnot, but certainly not burning her. Can you do that every time? To ONLY bad nurses, and I'm sure nurse mains here will back me up on that, at least. Anyway, I'm happy for you and your confidence in survivor :)

Yet you derank and play against lowrank killers with your SWF, even using DS flashlights and all that stuff.

There are zero nurse counters. You can't counter her. The only way you win vs Nurse is for the Nurse to play badly. If you play well and the Nurse plays well you lose every single time. That's not balance.

There are plenty of ways to mind game the nurse and you can even burn her with a flashlight while she’s charging a blink , you just need someone to go into kyf and figure out what works for your play style

Okay, this statement alone makes me feel as though you rarely play survivor. That's incredibly difficult to do these days with new blind timing. You can only burn a nurse if she's incredibly bad. It's a waste to even try burning her. Only time we do it is when 2-3 of us blind at the same time. You could say this if insta blinds were still a thing...
Anyway, a truly skilled nurse against most groups is unstoppable (ie. svekeren, zubatlel, etc). You also fail to mention that many nurses run more than 2 blinks and omegablink as well (ataxic and pinecone) which is incredibly strong. You must LOS a nurse and know when to double back or not, and a good nurse has excellent prediction, so sometimes you're just #########. I don't know your skill level, the way you play nurse, or your survivor experience, but saying that burning her with a flashlight is a counter is a big yikes.

I guarantee I’m a better survivor than you because I don’t derank  to impress anyone and the timing isn’t hard you just have to know when to start your burn and it is definitely a counter to the blink if used properly, does it work well with short range blinks? No  not if she’s already on your ass but when the nurse first is approaching it’s not so hard and you can use it to get away, I’ve saw your streams your not even a good survivor and anyone who deranks doesn’t even deserve an opinion on here because you just do it to play with newer players or those who don’t play the game often, you must be so good huh? Deranking to impress your stream and still sucking haha
"Just lightburn the Nurse. But like not at short range. Do it long range as she's charging it, with your Sniper Flashlight that goes across the map."

I guarantee you're one of those adorable survivors that points their flashlight at the killer while slowly walking backwards until you get hit.

Yes I did not read the wall of text because deranking for whatever reason is bs and your scum for doing it. Deranking only results in you making the new players feel like trash and you getting easy wins. Next time I hope he gets a longer ban. As for a causal mode with no rank this would not work in a game such as dbd. 1 player can literally kill your whole team if he's bad. I encounter this all the time in rank 1, you get a swf group with 3 rank 1 and a rank 10 or 15 and its an easy 4k because the low rank will die with no long chases so the team now has 3 people early in the game which makes the game a hell of a lot harder for them. Such will be the case in a casual mode.

As a new player to DBD, I completely agree with you. I'd like Behavior to take it a step further in the next ban-wave and permaban the ######### who derank on purpose. And this goes for their precious little streamers like Jendenise and all of them.

I derank as killer on purpose for at least a week after rank reset. If I don't, I rank up too fast and cannot play Dead by Daylight at all. Am I an #########?

Damn that's just unreasonable of you. You blame me instead of the terrible ranking system, so much so that you literally would prefer I don't play the game at all. What if you just randomly got banned on the 13th of every month for a week? You'd be totally cool with that, right?

Being a new player with Vets who deranked to Rank 15 before the 13th, only to then reset to Rank 17 with the reset, and come into the grey ranks with us newbies, I am unable to play the game now. Nothing like facing Survivor SWFs at Rank 20 Killer all in Bloody Clothes, which also means Perks and Add-Ons that no newbie has yet. Which I did not encounter prior to reset. And yeah, they were all Rank 17 or 16. And I encountered crap like that more than once last night, to the point that I just walked away and fired Overwatch up for the night.

So, yeah, cry me a river, pal. I am unable to play as a newbie and not be screwed by the system you Vets love to abuse.

First of all, I don't personally derank past where I'm reset to (Rank 10). In fact, just about every person I know that intentionally deranks goes nowhere near 15, because that's actually in the 15-20 zone of new players and is pretty nasty bullying.

If you have people deranking to 15-20, I agree, then they are #########. Rank reset is also usually a bad time for newer players as well, as people still get jumbled together even if they do not de-rank. Your games will get better in a few days.

You said that you derank for atleast a week AFTER the reset, even if i was generous enough to give you the benefit of the doubt that you dont intent to smurf then why should other players still have their time wasted with your deranking and inevitable stomps you dish out that take place when most people started to rank back up again?

Because rank is so irrelevant I notice no difference in survivors between 1-10. Most of the time they're getting stomped either way, regardless of whatever rank anyone is. The only variable is whether or not I physically get to play.

then just uninstall and your a terrible person and a terrible streamer

    Yeah, that's a load of horse #########.
There are plenty of killers and survivors that stream exclusively in the red ranks. Some of them are bigger than you. If you have "no job" from playing killer at the top ranks then that has less to do with the queue times and more to do with the quality of entertainment you provide.

The queues occasionally become bugged, yes, but for the most part I'm waiting less than 5-10 minutes for a game at Rank 1 killer even at the dead-ends of the night/morning.

Fun Fact: League queues at the top ranks are about a thousand times worse than DBD queues even when the matchmaking is bugged, yet top ranked LoL streamers consistently have the most viewers. Could it be that the top streamers are capable of entertaining their viewers between queues and that the streamer's gameplay is good enough to make them want to stick around?

Do you really think its okay that I'd have to wait longer than the match would take just sitting in the lobby? No, I'm good, I'll derank until later in the season where I don't have to do absolutely nothing for 10 minutes while my stream is bored out of their minds.

Also any killer main that rushes rank 1 immediately says they regret it and then they start playing survivor because again, they cannot actually play killer until a week or two passes. Not sure what you're talking about, but you're wrong.

Rank 1 is easy to achieve. That means there are plenty of people that will be instantly deranked to R10 along with you and climb right back up. I still dont see the reason of intentionally derank, never had an issue finding games after resets, not to mention an entire week.

Are you talking about Survivor or Killer? Because the past 3 Rank Resets I ranked up too fast and had to wait 10 minutes per game, which is ridiculous.

I don’t want to play R1 Survivor, or anywhere near it.  I didn’t sign up for DBD Worlds eSports, and a lot of people in this realm believe that’s what they’re playing.  It’s not fun.

    Give us casual mode.
They did make it harder to rank up. Killers literally could not play at Rank 1. It was awful

Introduction of the emblem system is what I assume you’re talking about.  It would take a solid 25-30 minutes to find a game as R1 Killer, that is true.

Still hit R1 Survivor that season, and without perks (tough game haHAA).  I felt like the other players in my lobby actually had more than two brain cells.  These days you have urban immersed Claudette’s who hide at the edge of the map.  Or gamers who can’t even put up a chase for one gen.

Literally anyone can be R1 Killer or Survivor and hold onto it all season long.  It signifies no skill, only time played.  Doesn’t take away the feeling I have to play so sweaty just to get a decent amount of bloodpoints as a Survivor.

I’ve lurked your stream a bit, I respect your Killer gameplay.  I look at your videos as I try to improve my Huntress.  Good Killers and Survivors deserve to be high rank, not everyone who puts in 10+ hours a season.

I agree that rank is meaningless with the current system but I'd still prefer that than not playing the game at all. There are not enough good players that would be at the high ranks, which would make ranking up even more of a burden than it is.

  • I derank by disconnecting quite a bit at the start of each rank reset because if I don't I literally can't play the game by ranking up too fast as killer. It sucks that I have to do it but my options are risk getting banned or have no job.

Kinda tells you what kind of players DBD has, then.

No, because you assume the worst even though it probably isn't happening.

    Must be 4 man swf
Must have dc'd because of obsession (Are you only running obsession perks?)
Must be using tactical comms and relaying information about every blade of grass the killer moves
Must be telling each other my perks

This has happened in probably like 5% of my matches, and in 2300 hours I think that's pretty damn good. As a killer I don't dodge SWF, I don't dodge any lobbies regardless of items, clothing, anything. I still kill pretty well, of course theres some matches that are bad but that's expected because we all make mistakes.

To simply imply survivors are cheating because they "DC" or they're in a 4 man because one "DC" is ignorant.
DC'ing as an SWF serves no purpose, I'd rather have the extra man than see what perks a killer has. It's ridiculous, play on rank reset, learn some new tactics and move on.

You really did not get any of what I said.

I know they are a 4 man because THEY SAY SO AND ######### TALK AT THE END OF MATCHES.

I know the obsession disconnected to deny me the Obsession perks because, a little louder THEY SAY SO AND ######### TALK AT THE END OF MATCHES

And those few times they DON'T, how come it's 'just happens' to be the Obsession who loses connection?

No, I'm finding non-SWF's where the Obsession 'just happens' to disconnect after 30 seconds and they all 'just happen' to be raging ######### willing to ALL #########-talk me and pat themselves on the back for 1 whole Survivor getting away.

I think I just rolled my eyes so hard, I have a headache from how immensely off-the-mark and naive your reply was.

Dude Obsession = Decisive Strike. People with DS disconnect ALL the time, when not in SWF, so much so that its a running joke of when the guy with DS will DC

Gods damnit. Post got eaten again.

Let me say it slow and loud for you:
WHEN I, ME, MYSELF (this means me, not them, me.) HAVE AN OBSESSION PERK, AND THE PLAYERS ARE IN A SWF GROUP, THE OBSESSION WILL LEAVE TO REMOVE MY PERKS MORE THAN HALF THE TIME

They may not know WHAT they removed, but they know they removed SOMETHING. And they usually know this because, again, I'll say it loud for you THEY DON'T RUN ANY PERKS THAT MAKE THEM THE OBSESSED

You act like 'Well, DS is a thing, so clearly they can't NOT run DS, know he has Obsession perks and leave! It's not possible by the laws of reality! Pshaw!'

I know what happens. I AM [BAD WORD] THERE, HAVING IT HAPPEN TO ME

I still don't understand your incredibly stupid problem with the situation. If there were a perk that immediately killed a player and then the perk got disabled, it would be the best perk in the game. This is literally what you are complaining about.

No. I am saying, if I have a perk with an Obsession. And someone is my obsession, and they don't have DS. They disconnect to remove my perks using Obsession.

    This is cheating.

Again, what is your problem with this? You got a free, instant kill on a player in exchange for a perk slot. Remember Me, Play With Your Food, Save the Best for Last, etc, all are objectively weaker than an instant kill on a player.

And it's clear it happens in SWF modes (such a really [BAD WORD] stupid idea, Devs), where one player will take the hit of a disconn to give his buddies an easier time.

People rarely disconnect in SWF just trying to find every excuse under the sun to blame SWF, it's easy to beat, this is a case of the "get good".
and reporting people for disconnecting as "abuse" is the dumbest thing ever and will most likely have your reporting abilities limited.

There you go again. Disconnecting like that is an actual abuse and renders most of the killer obsession perks as useless. You are just biased and I am not going to talk to you anymore...

Omfg, it's not abuse at all. It's unsportsman like. I'm not being biased I'm simply stating that if you think it's "abuse" that's stupid.

They LITERALLY STATE IN THE RULES NOT TO REPORT DISCONNECTS. PLEASE continue to tell me how I'm biased about warning some entitled killer not to get their report permissions revoked.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system#latest

Let me say this louder, since you can't seem to understand where I'm coming from:

IF SOMEONE DISCONNECTS TO RENDER YOUR PERKS USELESS. IT'S [BAD WORD] CHEATING AND ABUSING A BADLY CODED SYSTEM

Let me say this clearly - they track DCs and if someone does it enough they will be banned. Nobody knows what your perks are until they DC, and seeing as "every killer runs DS" which I've seen you claim they have no idea whether it's because of their DS or your perks so please stop being so whiny.

    Apparently my post got eaten.

    Setting side other things:
The obsessed always knows he/she's the obsessed. There's a pretty little icon for it.

In A SWF group, where they are all buddy-buddy, the Obsessed then bails, which kicks the Killer in the balls as his perks are rendered moot if they deal with an Obsessed.

And I KNOW it's in SWF groups because little #########-holes like this always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS ######### talk after a match like they are the next gaming god for cheating.

I don't think DBD is the game for you.

It's a 3v1 with the 3 in voice chat. Then basically ensures the final survivor gets away because they can say 'I found the hatch, so just try to get off the hook. We;ll deny the Killer bloodpoints'

And before SenzuDuck says no one does that, you know how I know they do?

They #########-talk me after the match, taunting me about the bloodpoints lost because 1 got away scot free, and they ######### my perks over with a bitchconnect.

Sure, I don't need to hook everyone, but disconnecting to get around Perks is CHEATING plain and simple.

And this game was never meant to have SWF. It should either be removed, or allow Killers to opt-out so we don't have to deal with cheating and greifing little douchebags.

My god you are whiny. Throw on Dying Light if you want to punish your obsession for disconnecting. If you're so worried about the last guy getting the hatch, slug the 2nd person and kill the third.

Hey, do devs even read abuse reports and the like?

I'm tired of my Obsession disconnectling like a tiny child to cheat me out of my Obsession-based perks.

And it's clear it happens in SWF modes (such a really [BAD WORD] stupid idea, Devs), where one player will take the hit of a disconn to give his buddies an easier time.

    oh my god, stop.
People rarely disconnect in SWF just trying to find every excuse under the sun to blame SWF, it's easy to beat, this is a case of the "get good".
and reporting people for disconnecting as "abuse" is the dumbest thing ever and will most likely have your reporting abilities limited.

    I'm sorry but no.

But a little ######### disconnects because he's the Obsession (which as happened multiple times.) so his friends have an easier time, he's [BAD WORD] cheating.

And no one does this in non-SWF modes because they won't take the hit for strangers.

I must have missed this. How exactly are the punishing camping?

You lose Emblem points if you camp with no survivors in the area - AKA you're camping because you're a jerk and there's no reason to be doing it.

Even the Trapper..Survivors will literally sneak along and disarm his traps behind him.

Why? Because he's not scary, his traps are a joke, and Survivors have enough safety nets to get away is spotted.

You know, the same survivors terrified in every cinematic are tip-toeing behind the Trapper, disarming his traps with a 'Tee-hee'.

But no; Killers are fine. I need to git gud. Blah blah, same stupid BS Survivors always spout to keep from being nerfed properly or prevent the Killers from being buffed.

'The survivors are SUPPOSED to counter Killers and poke them with sticks and hump their legs and pee on them and shake their asses like Candi on a Friday night! We could have SWORE the cinematics showed that!' - The Dev Team.

I know you don't want to hear "Get good" but get good. Go watch any good killer streamer and watch what happens with people that try to [BAD WORD] with them.

After so many hours it's really irritating hearing bad killer mains go "But the survivors should be scared".
Resident evil is a scary game, speedrunners don't get scared because they play it a lot, same goes for DbD, they need to stop trying to make killers "scary" by wanting every buff under the sun.

Yeah I get really sick of that argument too. If you expose yourself to anything scary long enough its no longer scary. Amnesia: The Dark Descent was one of the scariest games I played but now its like a joke since I spent a lot of time with it.

"the game is fine because survivors don't try to win"
what an abysmal way to balance a game

Literally the first five seconds of the video says map design is broken and not balanced

Holy #########, so many boosted Survivors complaining about Lightborn.

I see terrible Survivor streamers like Jen and Tofu complain on stream today, and just wow.

It is a perk to counter one thing they have.

Don't use flashlights, and he now has 3 perks.

Either way, the pickup was a great change, I like it as both sides.

They're complaining because its literally broken with Lightborne. Lightborne is not supposed to make you immune to flashlights, nor does the description say anything remotely close to that.

    Its a bug.
  • Top 3 is still Nurse Billy Huntress. 4th is Myers or maybe Hag, ill have to play her more
  • Or you could have basic tracking skills and use literally any other perk in the game POGGERS

Yeah she actually does that. She plays way too much.

She has a private profile with no proof though, at least angrypug has his hours shown with 4.3k hours, and he streams as much as her

I mean I can physically go to her computer and see 5132 hours, though the recent Steam changes make it so hours are hidden by default. Would be such a weird thing to lie about.

  • @Sn0wJob said:
Nobody has 5k hours in this game, they idle the game to fake their hours or they hack it.
You would have had to play this game for 8hrs a day for the whole two years it was out pretty much to get those kinds of hours.

No breaks, no bad feelings days. No short streams, eight hours a day for seven days a week.

Also I'm sorry but rank and hours put in only lends a certain amount of credibility to a balance argument, the same goes with the whole "I play both sides" bs.

Yeah she actually does that. She plays way too much.

  • This is a confusing thread. I'm not really sure who is arguing what
