  • I am a biased Claudette main and I still say Claudettes are usually not the absolute worst teammates. Neas are consistently worse.

  • Just like the other ten thousand times this idea has been floated, this just focused on the fact that Legacy isn't available and trying to find a way to bring it back and completely misses that the reason it isn't available is because it's not meant to come back.

  • No, and thankfully they never will.

Giving away Legacy would compensate a small number of people, disservice a much larger number, and for an even larger number it would give away something a majority of players were never supposed to have.

  • It seems like the cap is still 1 Million, but just like with BP refunds, the gift can put you over that limit. You can't "earn" more than a million but you can be given more.

  • In what world does 'Lava' sound like the name of a chapter. This isn't the first time the placeholder name has popped up in the live version.

  • Happy BD, DBD!

(Thanks for making this thread, surprised there wasn't at least a quick official one...)

  • Wow, thanks for sharing.

I'm sure it took a lot of hours for you to find those cliches.

  • You just have a short memory, or haven't been around long to begin with.

    Simple.

  • I don't hate the idea, but that doesn't seem to be what legendary skins are about. They basically seem to a vehicle for allowing more licensed characters into the game without going the Nancy/Steve route of providing extra perks and content. There's no indication regular characters will get them to turn them into other regular characters.

And, honestly, if they ever did re-introduce those character models, why would you not want them to just be added as regular survivors? Doesn't make sense to me.

  • Pharmacy is a fairly weak perk overall.

Inner Strength's main downside is that if multiple people are using it, you might run out of totems to fuel the perk when you need it. Funny thing is, you could also have everyone open all the chests before you can gets yours if multiple teammates are running Pharmacy (and even if they aren't, actually), but it's not even a real issue because... Pharmacy is so weak you don't have to worry about other people running it.

  • Y'all is a fantastic and upstanding contraction, it doesn't deserve to be shamed like this.

Even if the clothing on some of the females is "revealing," it usually fits their character. With Claudette's new outfit my issue is that it just... doesn't... like at all. It's like a completely different character could be made from that.

You're not wrong, but I already feel that way about some of Claudette's existing cosmetics.

They could probably find a way for this new outfit to work if they were able to justify some of the others she has.

I don't think the SH chapter even "feels" like SH anyway. You could say there's no Grey Children in Midwich, but they're two different games. It feels like it in the instance of "This is creepy, and it looks just like the game.". I think you could strike that with RE too. My point is, not considering an RE chapter just because there's no chance of zombies as a mechanic like the original, is odd. Of course you can't recreate the exact same gameplay/atmosphere.

I never played SH, so I honestly can't say how well they imitated the atmosphere in the DBD map. I have seen some people who did play the game say they did good job. But to the extent that maybe they didn't, I think the problem with RE would have to be much worse because it just doesn't seem like recreating, for example the Mansion, or being chased by Mr. X through the Police Station, is going to come close to feeling like it's RE without zombies. They can't recreate the same atmosphere perfectly, but leaving out the main attraction... seems like it will always be underwhelming to me.

There are good potential villains for DBD from RE that aren't just zombies yknow.

No one said there wasn't, my point still stands.

  • When the killer wouldn't even be zombies, would it really feel like Resident Evil?

If you are sick, you don't need a medkit or someone to heal you. You can cleanse and insta heal.

Even with her corrupt purge there is still some counter to her. You can camp a pallet and stun her to take away her ability.

Sure, but the point is that medikits and healing perks are useless against her. Much more so than hook-related perks can be useless against the Exe. (I was referring to her Vile Purge, not Corrupt Purge)

    @Science_Guy

    Cleanse.

You get an insta heal and you can still dodge her corrupt purge and even take it from her by stunning her.

    His cage renders perks useless.

I'm not sure what you mean?

  • You might be on to something here.

I would've loved to say how it'd be so silly to pay more money for an alt of an existing character than for the character itself, but all the VR skins for said characters already cost twice as much as they do.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Sucks that there's another killer that can make half of my perks useless. At least he's pretty cool.

His power can kill some builds, but I don't think it's so bad. Unlike, for example, Miss "**** Your Healing" Plague, Survivors can at least attempt to avoid his power if they want to keep access to certain perks.

  • @Orion said:

How fortunate that between 1.3.1 and now there have been many new mechanics added.

    No, there hasn't.

Even if you stretch the definition of a mechanic to include things like regression and breakable walls, which are technically new but are also just different abilities added on to existing mechanics, you still only have a handful over the last three years. And nothing as notable as the totem mechanic, the last time we were given a general perk.

  • They can barely come up with perks that are even vaguely useful enough to sell as DLC. I wouldn't expect any new general perks without new game mechanics.

  • "Bias", lol.

Something tells me you don't think the string of Quentin, Tapp, Kate, Adam, and Jeff bringing 15 trash perks for over a year was bias, though.

yeah on the day they announced amn a lot of people complained here in the forums about that perk.

Yep, you better believe people cried about AMN when it was first revealed. And let's not forget, the devs actually listened to them: AMN was given a nerf, even though it was already never going to break into the meta. People on here complain about awful perks with a straight face all the time. The same thing happened to Autodidact - bad, still nerfed after PTB complaints. And for the Legion PTB multiple people claimed Distortion, lol, Distortion, was busted too.

  • I'm much happier this time than I was last year. The Clown mascot outfit, I admit, was amazing when it was finally executed in game, but just from the submissions neither of last year's entries were impressive. The Legion one isn't my favorite but people were raving about it all over the place. And this wasn't my favorite of the Claudette entry, but I still like it a lot and I'm sure I'll use at least one of the pieces.

Lol. The Tom Cruise movie was....ok, I think they tried to hard though, something was disjointed in it. I know they were trying to setup a dark universe (a bit like the marvel cinematic universe) but you need to start with a great movie and go from there. Instead, they mostly killed it off.

Tom Cruise wasnt the right choice either, I think Hollywood need to realize that big celebrity names are not enough to sell a movie anymore, there is so much choice that if the movie is bad, a big name isnt going to save it.

That's fair. Some things definitely didn't quite fit together with all of the different ideas they were trying to show off.

  • @AvisDeene said:

I actually enjoyed Tom Cruise's Mummy film. It wasn't fantastic, but it was fun. Still not as good as Brendan Fraisers though.

On topic, it is most likely Mr Beeman that will be the next killer. Hopefully the next one after would be an original Mummy with an Egyptian map. They will have to use a Mummy eventually. I hope it is sooner rather than later.

Wow, I rarely ever see anyone else who liked the remake. But it's just like you said, no, it wasn't "great", but it was fun enough to be worth the price of admission. And unlike Brendan Fraser, Tom Cruise isn't a terrible actor...

  • It would pretty much be the end of the DBD.

They would never be able to top that ever again, every chapter after would pale in comparison

  • It's kind of disappointing that we don't have that feature already, honestly.

  • None, they all play exactly the same and that's all that really matters in a character choice. Seeing who people pick is fun, but I can't imagine why I'd wish for other people to play a different character that I never play myself.

  • It's funny that Pennywise is in the discussion so much, and for obvious reasons, but before the new movies Pennywise wasn't even close to the Top 5 of iconic Stephen King creations.

Carrie is one that would easily fit into the game.

  • Alright, how has nobody yet acknowledged that this thread's premise is ridiculous? They managed to make two stalkers in masks and two chainsaw mutants different, I think they can find ~something~ to separate an alien and a woman with a pig on her head.

  • @Volfawott said:

Depends on what you define as toxic. Because being toxic lorewise is definitely not the same as being toxic gameplay wise it's not going to be clicking flashlights and throwing butt dances at a trapper in lore

Min being a lone wolf doesn't care about the other survivors and would leave them injured or to die prioritising what she's doing over helping them. Even if helping them poses no threat to her. Also she comes across as the closest thing I would come to actively arrogant when it comes to survivors for example one of her quote is literally U mad

Seriously though, Feng is the correct answer here. "U mad?" seals it.

  • Remember that English isn't his first language. Latest, or 'last' as in most recent, is definitely what he meant.

  • Hopefully this time they don't revert it back.

  • Well, this is a half a year old thread on a topic that came up three years ago, so my memory is probably quite off at this point. IIRC, he wasn't based off a serial killer, he was based off of some Chinese doctor with a controversial way of treating video game addiction. I assume Feng's backstory as a washed-out gamer was alluding to that, though I don't think the DBD killer was supposed to have anything to do with games. Either way, Fiv55 pretty much nailed the reason that didn't go over well.

  • The numbers really are insane lately.

  • @Lexilogo said:

I don't think it matters at all where who stabbed who, especially because it seems Julie landed the killing blow in both versions, but sure, it's a minor inconsistency, or you could argue it's a deliberate retcon. I think the larger strokes are what actually matters in storytelling, but whatever.

If you want to be mega-serious though and reconcile these two inconsistencies, it's worth noting that Killer bios are neutral narrators, while the Tomes are memories. You could argue that given how intensely traumatic the experience was, how traumatic everything afterwards probably was too, and how Julie is constantly trying to mold herself in Frank's image, Julie might well remember her killing of the cleaner much differently than it actually happened. Whereas in reality she was hesitant and couldn't even look as she stabbed him, she remembers ruthlessly killing him like a badass.

There's an interesting possibility that the Legion members will have Tomes that replay this scene from their different perspectives and that they might all contradict each other, Maybe the ambiguity is intentional.

I don't know if I'm ready to give BHVR that much credit until that actually happens, though.

  • It's actually a literal Chinese ripoff of DBD, but BHVR was able to cooperate with the company in order to turn it into a legitimately licensed ripoff instead. Which is a bit of a happier ending than how that kind of thing usually goes.

  • If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

(Also that is how adrenaline works in real life???)

  • I was very confused until I realized you meant the "new" Rift cosmetic. The upcoming store one looks like her best one in a long time. But the Rift is just a recolor of an already unattractive store item, goes without saying it's not good.

  • Yes it's happened to practically everyone. Last week I faced a lousy Billy that did nothing but chase, facecamp until death, and repeat. Kobe'ing into Adrenaline and then escaping with the teammates who had smartly kept doing gens instead of crouching for a save the entire time was a pretty great feeling, honestly. That is to say: no, it's not a problem.

When a killer chooses to play terribly, good survivors can punish them accordingly. The game does enough to discourage that play style as it is. Maybe it could do a little bit more, but as pathetic as facecamping is, it's still as valid a choice of a way to play the game as any.

  • Downvotes were terrible both times they were implemented and absolutely don't need to come back. They were completely toxic and stifled any genuine dissenting opinion, and that's a terrible fit for a community as hopelessly partisan as DBD.

I disagree. I believe that someone posting an opinion on something, and the first comment disagreeing with them gets 60 upvotes is very much tearing an individual down. If that same person is easily "triggered" he might jump on that fact and you get the us versus them fight in the comment section, as usual.

Let's say I have a bunch of bots to upvote me. Let's say I make a really dumb, controversial topic like "All killers should have insta-down as base M1 hit." I use the bots to give myself 100 upvotes. What do you think the people who play survivor would do? Exactly, I just triggered a huge portion of the community, just for my personal laughs. I hope you can see what I meant from this viewpoint.

Eh, getting downvoted versus having someone you're arguing with getting upvoted just isn't the same thing. Hence why people don't do abuse it as much (if at all) now like they did in the past. A random passerby saying "Yeah, I like that guy's point!" is not the same thing as "Wow, you suck!/You're wrong!/LOL you moron!". The point of spamming downvotes isn't to make someone else look right, it's to make the other person feel stupid.

  • As much as this community loves simplification, keys and moris aren't "the same thing", and this kind of suggestion only makes any sense if you keep pretending that they are.

  • We already know all about Frank. Susie and Joey have been fleshed out in cosmetics too.

Julie is a giant 'who?'. She needs way more development.

  • Sure, NoED has been used A LOT since the Ruin nerf...

Just like it was used A LOT before the Ruin nerf!

NoED has been "popular" since 2016. Ironically, I've been seeing it less this past week than usual.

  • This isn't really news, but the "Just Cleanse" meme has been going on for so long it can definitely seem like a lot of people haven't realized this.

  • I tried one game but because of the controls I'm that noob failing skill checks left and right all over again. They'll take some getting used to.

It was interesting to see that Jake is indeed an unlock character on mobile instead of a default. I remember a while back one poster was saying they had problems unlocking him and I couldn't understand what they meant.

  • Hey, any loop is an infinite if the killer is terrible enough.

    (Obvs you're right though.)

That explanation just screams "laziness." As well as being plain confusing. You mean to tell me that Claudette, who has trouble focusing on almost anything that isn't related to biology, knows how to repair a generator equally as well as Yui, who literally trained herself to do so in order to race? That just makes no sense.

I think you're switching up laziness with a lack of interest. Designing a character to be from 2000 A.D. or 200 A.D. doesn't really require all that much more effort, not any more than they already do for killers.

  • @Mikeadatrix said:

"I study the memories of survivors and killers who have escaped or who WILL escape this timeless dimension."

Ladies and gentleman, do you fathom how important this sentence is to the lore of the game? Vigo is not the only one to escape the Entity with his life. Others have and will and I'm led to believe that the survivors we have ingame are infact destined to escape this hell one day. But the part that blows my mind is that it mentions killers who have escaped and will escape down the line... I'm starting to see the formation for a storyline that will run its course over the next few years in regards to DBD. I'm very much looking forward to seeing which Killers turn against the Entity. Evan seems to be an obvious candidate.

Yeah, that was a huge reveal. The way it was framed also seemed to directly imply, if not state, that Claudette, and likely Dwight as well, will eventually escape their endless suffering, which is honestly all I've ever wanted from the Lore since the game began. :)
