Skill based matchmaking (MMR) is always advertised prior to it being turned on and it hasn't been tested since the last advertised test a couple of months ago. It's not "being turned on" and what you're experiencing is regular matchmaking.
When the system is ready to go live, we will announce it, as usual.
I want it right meow
It was working great during the last time they set it live. It actually made solo q a fun experience. I got teammates at my skill level and fun killers who were challenging but not oppressive.
Its the exact opposite since they turned it off.

Well I like to make the assumption the survivors I’m playing against are not bots who will go down in 10 seconds because I looked at them. That’s about how bad the survivors have to be to get away with playing nice on half the maps in DBD unless you are spamming top tier killers every game.
No one said you have to play nice, just play good.

Say it with me: 'Camping is a tactic Killers can use to confirm a kill.'
It is not 'low skill' or 'baby' or any other stupid bullshit people invent to shame Killers into not doing it.
Theres a time and place for it, but too many rely on it at this point because too many noob killers hear it confirmed in these forums without understanding the context so you get a bunch of killers who develop zero skill and then cry about survivors being able to run lol
70 percent need to get good.

Yeah you are right. I should spend my first gen or two clearing out a bunch of pallets, then put a survivor in the middle of that deadzone, and then just walk away to the other side of the map (by the time I get over there the gens will probably be done anyways).
Then I can chase survivors through another slew of pallets around an area with little or nothing to defend.
Fantastic strategy, 10/10 survivors approve.
Exactly, like i said its for killers who arent confident in chase, like you.
-
I love seeing a deathgarden mask meg when i play killer. Its rare and special, like finding a four leafed clover
-
Proxy camping is low skill, reserved for killers who dont know how to keep track of which areas survivors are at and what gens theyre focusing on and arent confident in chase.

Pretty much any Killer on the roster without mobility to get around the map quickly has to proxy camp for pressure.
It’s not bad or cheap or low skill. It’s just how those Killers are designed. Examples are Trickster, Hag, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Pig, Ghost Face, Trapper, Bubba and Plague. No map mobility simply means they can’t afford to patrol large areas if they want to play optimally.
If youre saying hag, pig, bubba, and trapper have bad map pressure then you need to get good.
I can 3-4k with any of them easy using at best pop as my only slowdown perk.
-
Bond and kindred should be base kit for survivors. Then they can start balancing killers around swf.
Its also pathetic how much camping and tunneling get encouraged on the forums. Theres a context for those things but its usually pretty clear to me when im playing against swf or a really good squad. Even then if im playing my main i can pull off a 3k. If im playing against solos or a really bad team i just let off the gas.
4k isnt everything to me tho, theres been times ive 4kd and felt awful after and had to turn off the game.

The point is to show how other survivors play against the Wraith...
If the solo queue players don't know how to play against Wraith, that's their fault, not the Wraith's fault.
Okay you play soloq for a few devotion levels and tell me how it goes brainiac
-
Agreed, he used to take some skill to play well. Now that he basically gets a free hit when he uncloaks if youre not next to a pallet noobs just cheese his uncloak.
Buffing his invisibility should have been enough of a boost on its own imo
-
@glitchboi said:
Tru3's matches with Oracle proved that Wraith doesn't stand a chance against good survivors. You should probably watch them to learn how people play against Wraith.
You cant compare regular or casual players to these kinds of streamers. Most people are not going to devote their entire lives to being good at dbd, which is what these streamers literally do. You also cant expect a solo q player to come close to being able to do what a swf like that can because those people have literally devoted their lives to being that good.
-
Because BHVR is worried that without the grind people will get bored and stop playing as much
-
Imagine killers not crying about everything and getting good

You're just being paranoid. I don't think the devs have it in them to make an algorithm that advanced seeing how bad their matchmaking system is.
Hahaha thats a good point!

When the game stops being fun you should definitely take a break. Its not like youll ever "beat" dbd and the grind will always be there waiting.
-
I thought she was hotter before the update but im probably the only one
-
She has weird sideburns now and i dont like it
-
The only people who get upset about dcs are sweaty killer mains. As a survivor if one or more people dc it means youre either getting a farming match as a result or a very quick over and done with match as a result. As survivor you can move on pretty easily. Its the sweaty killer mains who get salty because it robs them of more points and ruins their experience more than anyone elses because it becomes a game of shooting fish in a barrel or theyre forced to farm instead of camping and tunneling everyone.
-
Absolutely. I was so excited for the event and super disappointed at how ###### all of the killers turned out to be during it. I wont be participating in future events unless they change things up to encourage more sporting or fun behavior from both sides.
Like next event is what, Halloween? If its just a rinse, repeat ill probably just stay logged off for the whole thing, cakes or no cakes.
I got my grind mission done. I got all survivor teachables unlocked and most killers. The extra shards were nice too, helped me unlock the last remaining characters i needed.
I'll probably be taking a long break after the bloodhunt because im a little burned out and the grind will always be there anyway.
-
Furtive chase, dark devotion, make your choice, and nemesis is fun
You can swap out make your choice or nemesis for hex third seal to cause some chaos.
-
The key is to listen for his growl. Youll hear his growl before you see his shimmer usually.
Then camp a pallet and wait for him to uncloak. Once hes fully uncloaked just drop the pallet. He wont have enough distance with his speed boost to make a hit, even on unsafe pallets.
Ive played against plenty of wraiths this way and it ends up in a staring contest with me on one side of a pallet, waiting to drop it while the wraith just stands there cloaked. Eventually they just leave to go bother someone else since most people who have picked up playing wraith since his recent change have only started playing him for the free hit they get from uncloaking. Its lame and sad because theres so much more strategy they could use with wraith but instead they opt to use two brain cells.
The pallet camping trick only works if youre in front of the pallet. If you wait by the side of it he can just body block you away from it as he uncloaks.
Otherwise camping a vault can work if its a safe vault but pallets are better.
But if he catches you out in the open hes guaranteed a free hit. Its lame.
-
I personally hate how EVERY medium vault is a guaranteed hit.
Medium vault during a chase = killer hit you
Medium vault while killer is chasing someone else on the other side of the map = killer hits you
-
Prestige is a waste of points imo
It will take roughly 4.5 million bloodpoints in order to p3 a character. With 4.5 million points you can literally unlock every perk on a character to tier 3, assuming you have all teachables unlocked.
I would just unlock all teachables and then pour points into my favorite survivors to unlock all perks at tier 3 on them.
For my killers its harder to say. I could see more value in unlocking all teachables and then unlocking all perks to tier 3 for all of them, bir starting with my mains and then trying to get everything unlocked for all of them because i like to try out all of the killers from time to time. Still wouldnt bother with prestige because its a waste of points imo

I was thinking the Blindness Status Effect hindered your vision to see your surroundings since it would be more solo queue friendly.
Blindness Status Effect: Survivors become shrouded in darkness, making it impossible to see further than 16 meters. That could actually be neat. Its hard to say whether it could be abused by certain killers powers or perks tho. I guess it couldnt be worse than other combos

Reflective Fragment and Glass Fragment really suck, Mirror Shard I'm not sure if it can stalk someone far away and see their aura infinitely many times for 5 seconds if they are fully stalked.
Yeah i remember the first few times i played him and thought theyd be fun to try and in reality theyre a waste of addon slots that could be used on something better.
-
Im guessing the upcoming boon totems will address things like this. It will probably give some benefit to balance things between solo and swf. But who knows for sure?
Third seal plus knockout is pure chaos against solos and only mildly annoying against swf.
Change it so it works like a flashlight blind but against survivors lol jk idk
-
His addons are broken for sure. The tombstone piece and the tuft of hair are broke af. The addons that increase movement speed while stalking are useless. Vanity mirror is useless. The addons that let you see auras of survivors youve stalked for a few seconds are also useless imo
Scratched mirror is fun af. Dead rabbit addon is also fun af because you can synergize it with other perks and addons that extend his T3.
Idk how youd adjust his power in any sort of balanced way tho

What might be tripping you up is that on Shelter Woods you can basically see the entire map from anywhere.
Ormond has a huge building to block LoS so a lot of the map is hidden no matter where you are.
Its still a crappy map either way and needs to be reworked
-
That doesnt sound right. That site places ormond as 8th and everyone knows thats the largest map. It can take 40 seconds for a killer to walk from one end to the other.
-
@Crowman said:
It's the 2nd largest map.
Are you sure youre thinking of the same map? Its git one big tree in the middle and the gens are always located clockwise around it.
-
Not worth it unless youre in a swf. Killers just going to tunnel, camp and slug everyone otherwise
-
Having the killer able to participate in the pre game chat would probably make for a lot of chill matches

then you looked for reasons for the killers to be toxic.

Maybe, but other games have VoIP and work fine. The devs would need a proper report system, so people who BM into mics or use them for verbal abuse are quickly punished.
That said; the 'auto ban' system they announced is the worst idea for this game, ever. So many Killers are going to be gang-reported for doing anything Survivors dislike. :P
Maybe.... idk as long as it could be muted. The problem in Hood was there was a mute function but it only worked on players who had mics turned on. So you could mute all but then someone could turn their mic on at some point in the match and start BMing and you had to go back to the menu/player screen and mute them individually. Really annoying.
I like the idea of the auto-ban as long as it's implemented properly. Like killer reports should have more merit because obviously there's only one killer for every 4 survivors. It should extend to survivors as well so that killers can have some peace of mind that toxic survivors are being banned just as much as toxic killers.
What's great about it if they implement it properly is that according to the polls most players play both sides, and this extends to toxic players as well. Toxic survivors are also the toxic killers in most cases. It's messed up why some people are like that but every society has a percentage of people on the dark triad spectrum I guess. What that means if they implement the auto-ban properly is that it could actually get rid of toxic players on both sides.

This. SO this. I check on a lot of toxic killers accounts and they often have more time as survivor. I ... don't get it. Let me treat you exactly how I hate being treated? Alrighty then.
It's true, the toxic killers are also the toxic survivors. Most players play both sides equally according to the polls and that extends to the toxic players as well.

Yeah, I can agree with that, but Insidious would have to be changed. It's already trash against SWFs, which is why it's a meme perk.
I feel like Insidious would still be meta, if SWF, with it's voice comms, was not added to the game.
The devs should just add VoIP and rebalance stealth perks & killers around it. It would be the easiest way to balance. Instead, they keep pretending voice comms are not the sole reason SWFs are the apex predators
Insidious isn't entirely meme. If you're using to camp, then yeah it's garbage but so is camping imo. Tier 3 insidious can actually be helpful with mind games around pallet loops if you play your mind game correctly but for the most part it's pretty useless.
My problem with VoiP in the game is that people can force their annoyingness onto you. As long as it had an option to mute all at any time, maybe, but even then. I was playing Hood: Outlaws for a while and they have VoiP in-game and it's so annoying because people trash talk their own team or try to take on the mantle of leader and start ordering people around. Some people straight up just BM into the mic at high volume for no reason other than be annoying. It's not fun.

Nah not like Whispers
I mentioned Lethal Pursuer because it gives the killer a good idea of what they need to do/where they need to go first.
IDK I think straight up aura reading or something like that would be OP. Survivors always spawn near the gens farthest from the killer it's just a matter of choosing the correct gen to go to and usually they'll spawn in two groups, either split 1-3 or 2-2 and rarely all 4 spawn together so you're likely to run into at least one survivor just beelining to the farthest gen right away.
There's a few maps where you can spawn in as killer directly in the middle of the map and not know where they've spawned. On a lot of maps if you do spawn in the middle it's pretty clear where they'll be though. Some maps are split into two sides with a bottleneck in the middle, like one of the macmillan maps does this and one of the autohaven maps does too. On those ones if you spawn in the middle you just have to pick a side to go to the farthest gen because survivors almost always spawn split between both sides either 1-3 or 2-2.
-
@Brokenbones said:
Here's a random idea
What about some form of Lethal Pursuer basekit? I'm not talking aura reading, it could be something as simple as at the start of the match - the Entity pings all 4 survivor locations to the killer in the form of a 'location' bubble or something
I know people typically don't like it when stealth gets nerfed but, location bubbles are vague enough that they aren't reliable information all the time
So like whispers for the first 30-40 seconds of the game as basekit?
-
Some sort of passive effect would be a cool addition to prestige, but IDK what a balanced effect would be. It would be a nice incentive. I don't bother with prestige because the grind isn't worth it for a cosmetic I'll never wear.
-
@Power_Guy said:
DS should never be made basekit. Imagine the new 4 perk meta if DS was a 5th perk.
DS might be bit of a stretch but bond and kindred are a no-brainer. It's the same info swf get for free and would allow the devs to make balance changes that effect swf.

I had topic for this. I said buff solos to swf level. SWF and solos have to same infos. And then buff all killers for this balance. There 2 group of survivors and this makes balance so hard.
Agreed. I think bond and kindred would be the same info, and adding the totem counter to both killer and survivor HUD would help a lot too instead of just having it on the small game perk. Then they could rework killers better imo
-
@RoboMojo said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/264309/base-kit-changes
Kindred and bond maybe (Even then, that's giving a lot). However, DS most definitely cannot be made base kit without some accompanying buff to Killers. Base kit BBQ really would not be enough to compensate considering how, no matter how unpleasant it might be, tunnelling is sometimes a necessary evil.
Kindred and bond is basically the same info swf get for free. I dont see it being that big of a buff. It would allow the devs to make changes to killer to balance against it and in turn balance killlers against swf.
-
@Northener1907 said:
I will agree if they nerf SWF and if they buff all weak killers. Without this so much powers to survivors.
Also Corrupt & BBQ have to basekit for killers.
And they can't nerf swf. That's technically impossible. The best they can do is buff solo survivors so they're equal or close to equal as swf and then start balancing killers around tho soloq imprivements.
-

Corrupt would be boring. Maybe noed, that at least comes with an extra objective but idk how you'd balance it so the game doesnt turn into a standoff over the last remaining totem.

@Wavy said:
How many god-level SWF's did you actually go against?. SWF is pretty common at red ranks, yes. But most of the SWF's are chill and they are not really good. I dont understand why you take this game and SWF too seriously. If you lose, just give a cheers to your opponent and move on. I think you exaggerate the power of SWF. As i said you dont go against a good SWF too often. You cant win every match, accept it.
As for the keys, i dont think key escapes happen often. And i know even though you complain about the keys you bring it at least once. If you hate keys SO much just bring franklins, its not that hard.
The things you should complain about are Spirit, Nurse, Ruin + Undying, Wraith and OP Myers addons. Killer is the power role in this game if you know how to play it.
Dear killers, if you expect to win every match, just play with bots with the new update.
Once you actually get good at killer it starts to become the power role again. I will say that console killers tend to be at a disadvantage though. After playing with a mouse the controller just feels like such a major handicap.
Most killers just run ruin, pop, or corrupt because some streamer told them to and they consider running gen protection perks as pressuring gens so when ruin gets cleansed, or corrupt runs out, or they can't get enough pops they claim pressuring gens is impossible. Then they just play on repeat: find survivor, chase survivor, hit survivor, chase survivor more, hit survivor, hook survivor and complain about being counterplayed.
I dont get the hate around people bringing keys. If I see a key in a lobby I know what to expect. The only problem is that purple and pink keys can spawn in chests without any sort of luck offering or plundering perk and that sucks because you can't prepare for that.
Most swfs are just people goofing off on chat while they play together, true. Probably 50% of the sweaty teams are actually solos who are all super sweaty and just play together really well. I've had matches as survivor where the killer thought it was a swf and I was like "nope, solo".
