  • It should be base kit, along with bond and kindred.

  • Slugging is for killers who can't run chase, pressure gens, or have enough brain cells to juggle or come up with a decent, original build.

  • @Itslat3ncy said:

I believe most killers who complain about gen speeds are the ones who either face camp or proxy camp you instead of actually trying to pressure gens early on in the match. Of course gens arent gonna pop when you dont even try to pressure them.

Thats why they think it's ok to use the excuse I only camped becuz of the gens. Not saying everyone does this, but I feel most do.

    Just my opinion though.

Most killers don't know how to play killer imo they just run a rinse/wash cycle on repeat because some streamer told them to. They run some variation of pop, ruin, corrupt and then go to find a survivor, chase survivor, hit survivor, chase survivor until they get another hit and then hook survivor, repeat. They rarely ever create a decent build and play to the build, and they don't really pressure gens. To most killers running pop, ruin, or corrupt = pressuring gens so when you tell them to pressure gens they have no clue what you're talking about.

My emotions are fine I just dont like people trying to justify people acting like this. You're essentially defending people who act like this. Makes you said toxic person. most likely a troll

I cant say if they are or not. Its hard to read a persons tone in text but best bet is dont feed the trolls i guess.

  • Theres been a lot of extra ####### killers lately since the event started so dont be surprised and dont take it personally. Theyve probably just had it with bad matches and are quitting at the first sign things are going south. Theyve probably already given the benefit of the doubt that it wont be a horrible match enough to where theyll bounce at the first sign of trouble now. Maybe not your fault but how are they to know you arent going to just facecamp or tunnel them all?

I explained in detail, and I am 100% accurate.

FYI I exploit peoples emotions on both sides regularly via ingame actions. You are welcome for me trying to help you avoid such a common trap.

100% accurate? Wow, not even the weatherman can make that claim.

  • @MadLordJack said:

A lot of survivor mains are playing killer for BP and being massively hypocritical, and the remaining survivors are being sweaty AF and more than a little toxic.

Yeah ive known some pretty toxic players who i stopped playing with early on because it seemed like they didnt even enjoy the game so much as just played to be spiteful on both sides. Most players play both sides so the toxic survivors are probably also the toxic killers in most cases and theyve all decided to play killer. I could see that being the case.

  • @Viciusaurus said:

No I get where you're coming from, that's why I'm taking it upon myself to play killer right now and taking it super easy. Not stressing about hooks or win conditions makes the game way more fun when you're playing peekaboo as Ghostface with baby survivors and butt dancing at the exit gates.

Same, ive given up on trying to play a normal game of survivor and im just farming as killer with survivors now. At least 1/10 of their games wont be crappy.

  • @MegaDwight said:

Its 100% normal to experience emotions, anytime.

What I said breaks down into “its unwise to allow someones actions ingame to cause a salty emotion that affects your gameplay, which can be exploited easily.”

No what you said was for people to keep their emotions out of the game which sounded a lot like you expect for people not to experience or express emotions at all during the game. It kind of goes against human nature, which is to say its extremely unrealistic.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

are you familiar with the concept of confirmation bias?

    https://newslit.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DYK-Confirmation-Bias.png

Conformation bias requires you to first have an established belief or hypothesis regardless of existing infirmation and any "research" done is there to support the pre existing idea whereas if were talking in terms of research we would first look at existing phenomena and look for evidence that might explain it and form a hypothesis from there.

I noticed there seemed to be more toxic killers playing and from what i understand there are likely several pieces of evidence that together formed my hypothesis that its largely an influx of new players.

    Thats not confirmation bias.

  • @MegaDwight said:

There is no such thing as toxicity from ingame actions.

There is only salt generated by peoples fragile emotions toward ingame actions.

Keep your emotions out of it and just play the video game.

Its perfectly normal to experience emotions while playing a video game. It would be extremely unrealistic not to expect a person to do so. Thats a weird comment.

  • It would be nice if it also had a totem count like small game.

  • The yellow and green rank ones that tunnel and camp and act like theyre good at the game.

  • The best build I've seen with dragons grip was what I like to call the exposed-all-the-time build.

Dragons grip, starstruck, devour hope, haunted grounds. You can mix it up with other exposed perks like noed, rancor, iron maiden, or even deathbound. It's really fun on ghostface or other insta down killers. IDK how well it would work for blight.

Otherwise I see dragons grip as very situational. It's strong in a 3 gen situation if you also have oppression. Maybe a build that caters towards creating the most pressure during a 3 gen? It would be nice if the location reveal lasted longer imo

just last night, this dwight wanted to try and body block for this other mans. i said "if you want my attention, i'm gonna give it to ya" in my head. so i did tunnel him if i found him, when i hooked him, i just left and looked for someone else. if he got unhooked right back at it if i had the chance. that's tunneling sure.

but if the killer has a chance to go back to the hook and catch those survivors, it's not tunneling just because he sees the injured survivor. i've ran back to the hook saw 2 different trails and just followed one. not my fault if i followed the unhooked. even if i saw the unhooked one, if there the easier one to get to, don;t call me a tunneler cause you couldn't get farther away like the guy who unhooked you.

that's why i be saying it's situational whether its tunneling or not. you can "tunnel". but that doesn't mean you were going after that specific person.

i mean dog, someone called me trash cause he ran into the basement and hid in a locker during a chase and really had the gall to say that was my fault. then when his teammate unhooked him as im walking away, he comes up first off of bt, gets whipped and downed by a zombie and right back to the hook. really tried to say i was sniping him...(he was streaming, but i wasnt sniping, he just salty).

I guess it depends on how soon the unhook happens but generally I avoid going back to the hook. It's easy to juggle survivors because once you leave the hook and hear the saved notification you can keep that information tucked away in your brain that there's now 2 survivors in one specific area of the map. You can even swivel around quick and take note of which gens are near the area so you know whether they'll stay in that area if there are gens nearby and you should already know off the top of your head what level of progress each gen is at so you know how much time you'd have if you left them in the area. It puts more pressure on survivors in my experience to leave the hook, tuck that info in my brain as to where the rescuer and the unhooked person are at and what objectives are close to them while I go to find someone else, then get into a chase and disrupt progress on other gens. The other two survivors are likely going to try to heal and then find an objective, and if they don't then when you get back to where the area they're at after ending a chase somewhere else they'll pay for it because at least one will still be injured.

That's more efficient and puts more pressure on most survivors. When you go back to the hook repeatedly the other 2-3 survivors are going to just rush gens. If you end up trying to tunnel a good looper then it's going to backfire as well.

I like to play for the chase because I like to challenge myself but not everyone plays that way.

All of that doesn't even take a perk build into consideration. IMO too many killers don't get creative with their builds because they're scared of gen progress. The idea with a perk build is to play to your build. When I play a chase build on trapper I don't bother setting up elaborate trap placements, I set maybe one trap on my way to the survivors spawn points and then engage in chase as soon as possible. I also don't bother trying to damage gens since the chase build doesn't really have much gen protection. It's about ending chases rapidly and slowly snowballing your trap placements as the match progresses.

I have a build on myers for undetectable T3. It consist of Cruel limits, tinkerer, dark devotion, and furtive chase with the fragrant tuft of hair or lock of hair addons and a j myers memorial. With that build you have to play to the build for it to work. I don't bother m1 anyone, the early game is about getting T3 99d as fast as possible so when you get a tinkerer notification you zoom to the gen and pop T3 right as they finish the gen giving you easy insta downs and snowball from there. You also want to keep pressuring the obsession for the low TR while in T3. If you deviate from the playstyle dictated by the build it doesn't work.

But so many people play killer on a wash/rinse cycle. Play ruin, pop, corrupt, bbq and then find person, chase them until you m1 them or hit them with your power, chase some more until you down them, hook them, walk away, go back to the hook when they're saved. Then they complain when survivors counterplay their repetitive playstyles.

but if i find that unhooked survivor first or if i see they are the easiest to get to whether or not they are injured or healed. it wouldn't be tunneling at that point though right? you've moved away from them and just so happen to have come back due to them being unhooked.

i mean i can almost assure you, if i ate there ds, there getting downed again fr fr.

i may not have the intention too, but if it happens and i see them...all bets are off right?

Yeah, so that's tunneling. You're INTENTIONALLY going after the unhooked person right after they got unhooked in order to get an easy kill. It's a super douchey thing to do and if you're only doing it because it's easy that means you suck at playing killer. Learn how to chase, mind game, juggle, and how to create a synergistic perk build and play to your build.

Nothing is more pathetic than a killer who acts cocky from camping and tunneling.

  • The same douchey killers are also the same douchey survivors usually.

and you sound like someone that dont play killer a lot

I played killer to rank 5 and devotion level 5. If youre proxy camping it means youre not confident in chase against survivors and need to get good.

Theres some rare instances where its a legit strategy against sweaty teams but usually theres more efficient strategies like patrolling gens and playing to your perk build.

  • @Bran said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2334925#Comment_2334925

say i, the killer, go across map and come back after their unhooked? is going after the injured (if they weren't healed) survivor tunneling still?

Id say yes. If youre in that scenario its more efficient to continue patrolling the area youre already in. Walking to the other side of the map can take up to 25 seconds, by the time you walk all the way back and find the unhooked survivor a gen could have gotten done on the side of the map you abandoned to go back to the hook assuming two survivors are working on a gen in that area.

If you did walk all the way back and your intention was to find the unhooked survivor and down them again then thats definitely tunneling.

If youre having trouble finding survivors to chase after hooking someone you should use bbq.

  • Lol you sound like a proxy camper trying to defend your actions

  • I agree with the previous posts. Basically tunneling is done with the intention to take one person out of the game as fast as possible completely disregarding any other objective.

It can backfire wildly if the survivor is a good looper tho.

Against soloq and new players its just plain toxic. Against sweaty survivor teams its a legit strategy to slow the game down.

Question: With your definition of camping "The killer defends an area and never leaves." what is the killer supposed to do if it gets down to a well-grouped 3-gen? There is literally no value in going out hunting all over the map, especially if you're a low-mobility killer. Okay Billy can fly around trying to flush out survivors but Doctor? Nope!

I think that was directed more towards not leaving the area of a hooked survivor. Lots of killers proxy camp and try to act as though theyre not technically camping because theyre not within 4 meters of a hook.

  • No.

A better perk to make basekit for all killers would be bbq, the aura reading alone would help prevent needless camping from bb killers.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

I want a robotic killer being controlled by a mad scientist in the game. I think it could be interesting.

Thats basically the plot of the movie "death machine". I havent seen it in a long time but that could be really gnarly!

  • I would never want to see a xeno or predator in this game because it would be so insulting to those franchises to see a xeno or predator get pallet stunned. With the other licensed killers it makes some sense because theyre human, or at least were for the most part.

If were talking scifi licensed killers maybe critters or even killer clowns from outer space might be cool.

I guess with original characters anything goes and could be cool, i think the map would be the main selling point tho.

  • With the influx it f new players comes an influx of crappy solo teammates and even crappier killers who waste cake offerings by camping and tunneling everyone. Nice 4k bps there, rank 15 huntress, it could have been 60kX2 if you werent a ####

  • @m1lly said:

This game is straight up too killer sided.

Why is every patch a buff to killers? Like, does anybody in balancing department understand that killer is way too powerful in the current game? Killers win too easily and entirely too much.

All one has to do is play survivor to understand the game is unplayable and not the least enjoyable. Killers camp, tunnel, slug all with extremely oppressive perks such as Infectious Freight, Ruin, Undying, and Tinkerer. If you are not playing in like some kind of 4 man sweat team, then there is no winning. None.

It is impossible to escape the killer meta. Killers are winning effortlessly with very oppressive perks and survivors have nothing to be able to counteract it. Survivor perks are constantly nerfed into uselessness and killer perks buffed for easy wins.

Maps are too killer sided with nothing but deadzones. There is too many hooks on the map. Why does the wiggle mechanic exist if hooks are only 5 meters apart? Killers get all the bloodpoints in the match.

When is this game going to be balanced?

I felt the same way after my first dozen or so hours in this game. If you play solo then your teammates are going to suck real bad at first too so the killer gets easy cheap wins just by camping and tunneling the entire time.

For solo survivor green ranks are the sweet spot. You get decent teammates and killers who do more than just stare at a survivor on hook all match while running noed. In yellow its a #### show and in purple and red your teammates actually start to get worse and the killers tend to go back to camping and tunneling, or trying to slug everyone.

Solo survivor just sucks unless you stay in green ranks.

As for those camping and tunneling killers they get easy cheap wins at first against clueless noob survivors. Tbf this game has a really high skill ceiling for survivors at first. Then after those ##### killers get just near the threshold to green ranks they start getting their first red/purple rank swf matches and get completely abused match after match. They quickly learn they cant just camp and tunnel every game. They actually have to learn to juggle survivors, learn the maps and tiles, and learn to mind game and they have to start creating more sophisticated perk builds than just noed and spies from the shadows.

At some point near purple and red those same killers realize they HAVE to camp and tunnel at least one person out early if they want to get more than a 1k.

For killer id say green ranks is the sweet spot too for this reason. You have to strategize and play chase well but you can still 2-4k without camping or tunneling etc.

Yellow, purple, and red are the places you want to avoid on both sides. The only people having fun there are swf.

  • I stopped using the cakes because it only encourages killers to play like ###### so why bother

  • If im in soloq and get facecamped the first hook or see the first hook just get facecamped and tunneled and the other two survivors are just crouching in a corner then yeah thats a no from me dawg

  • I dont get flamed by survivors because i dont play douchey and i can hold my own when i play killer without being one.

  • Ive noticed the event has brought out all the douchey killers too. They see the cake offerings as an excuse to play douchey because normally camping and tunneling an entire match gets you barely any bloodppoints but now they can play crappy and still get a ton of points.

Ive also stopped using the cake offerings.

I saved a ton of bps prior to the event so i could get a bunch of items for my main survivors right away.

After seeing how moat killers are playing now i plan to just play killer until the event is over and farm every match.

  • @aroell said:

I wish the cakes would only grant 105% bloodpoints to survivors only, since killers tunnel is and get 100k+ bp. They shouldn’t be benefitting from others offerings. I mean we used them in hope of a playable match but killers are killers.

    This 100%

  • I keep getting put into lobbies of all yellow rank players while in soloq and its about as fun as a ketchup flavored popsicle.

Teammates who hide in corners while someone is on hook and killers that just camp every hook.

  • I only remember one time where a survivor led me to a corner of the map to buy the others time and it was a close match that got them a 2E. It was done at the perfect time too.

I simply shrugged it off as a touche, nice one bunny feng 👍 you played me like a fiddle

Yeah same every other game i have runs fine. Im guessing theyre having issues with their servers on top of things because of some of the weird lag ive experienced. I downed a bill 3 times in a row in one match and he just kept getting right back up

Yeah there's been many many threads made about how the RE patch has hurt game performance across all platforms, in particular the consoles. The new map was disabled a few hours after coming out, and still is down outside of custom matches. Reports of rampant lag spikes, lots of game crashes so bad they disabled the dc penalties, even a few overheats happening.

And yes they said they're investigating.

    @gendoss said:

I've had a few crashes here and there but other than that I've had no issues.

Okay, I thought it was mostly a console issue but the last few days ive been having some issues.

I hope they consider extending the rift because of all of this.

  • If im in the mood for a 4k i know i can get one with:

Trapper, clown, michael, bubba, hag, ph, huntress, ghostface, legion, pig, freddy, spirit, wraith, twins, and oni.

Doctor, deathslinger, and nemesis are next on my agenda. I dont think ill ever be great with plague, blight, demo, or nurse.

I could see myself getting really good with hillbilly but he doesn't interest me that much.

  • Usually its only inexperienced killers that do that in my experience.

They dont know enough about the game to understand that its a massive waste of points.

Whenever i see a bps or an anniversary cake i usually just try to get each person on hook once or twice and then we go to farm town.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

As the next chapter will be an orginal killer i'd like to see some old monster law killer such as a vampire or werewolf.

Vampire would collect blood to power up like Oni not sure how well say a bat transformation & possible faster speed might work as that might be too close to Oni powers perhaps some kind of mind control (doctor style blast but only when powered up) maybe switch up / reverse survivors controls in a chase for x amount of seconds (yes I'm aware of the meltdown that would cause) I don't know but I'm surprised Dracula or at the very least a vampire isn't in yet.

For werewolf obviously the transformation would grant considerable speed boost & maybe even an insta down attack though as they aren't likely to do some kind of in level rising moon i'm not sure what would trigger such power up / transformation. Possibly some kind of oni style blood lust or Myers style stalking (but with a more modern twist. Each gen completed could trigger the transformation in stages making it a true end game monster power player but given how many noed posts go up a day that would likely go down like a lead balloon too.

    A werewolf would dope AF

I like the idea of it transforming as it tiers up. In tier one it could be a human character thats just really scary, maybe similar to jack Nicholson in the shining but with some wicked looking wolf eyes.

  • I think his m1 would be an attack with his chains.

His power would probably involve the puzzle box somehow.

It would be interesting if his power tiered down instead of tiering up like other killers. Like at the start of the match he has some sort of ability tied to his chains or maybe telekinesis or even the ability to travel across the map via shadows and it gives him a lot of early game pressure. However as survivors solve puzzle boxes scattered around the map his power tiers down and gets weaker and weaker.

I'm not a game designer, so I don't really know what a balanced design might look like but there's a lot of interesting ways it could be implemented into the game.

In his mori he could say one of the famous lines like "We have such sights to show you"

  • I want pinhead. Im not tired of ranged killers but i am tired of seeing the game departing from the 80s-90s slasher film aesthetic more and more.

Well its just math, each match gives around ~600 xp (500 bonus for first match of the day on each side), which equals 1.2 rift fragments, you only need 690 rift fragments so around 575 matches not counting the daily bonuses which could reduce it down to 460 matches including 138 matches of one match each day on both sides

if each match takes 10 minutes, and 3 or so minutes for load times this is about ~90 hours, or a very manageable task over the ~70 day period

That's weird, I usually play for about 1-3 hours a day average and including the rift fragments from the first tome and a half I only got to level 30 something up until a few days ago. I've been playing more survivor so my queue times are more like 5-10 minutes and xp averages more like 400 but I also mostly play soloq so I die a lot lol

Well. You don't need to do the challenges. I'm at like 66/70 and haven't done a single one.

    How is that possible?

  • @bjorksnas said:

A rule of thumb is just don't buy the rift pass unless you are either extremely close to finishing it or have already reached tier 70 since on tier 70 you spend 1k auric cells for 1k auric cells and a bunch of cosmetics, I learned the same lesson, but you can grind out playing the game and challenges if you have enough free time, just keep trying and do the easy challenges when the hard ones deter you

I definitely learned the lesson the hard way 😔 I had that strat in mind but I couldn't resist the Kate cosmetic in this one. I missed the last rift and deeply regretted not getting it for the Nea cosmetic and now whenever I see someone with it I just frown with envy and regret.

  • Either counterforce or plunderers instinct. I enjoy hunting for totems (dull or hexed) and plunderers is fun because it feels so goofy when I escape a match as my dwight-in-a-box with a rare purple item. At this point I've got a whole shrine in my dwight's inventory filled with rare items I've plundered as him lol

  • If a match ends and I'm not feeling frustrated or agitated I'd call it a win. Generally if that happens it means I had fun and that's what I play the game for.

1 2 3 4 5 … 11
