I bought the spirit perk Rancor from the shrine but am hesitating to use it in a build. The aura reading of 3 seconds is puny (but I guess could be extended with Lethal) but the thing that caught my eye was the ability to kill survivors by your hand without a mori. How would you rate it overall?
Just a slight correction, Rancor does not show the killer any auras; it shows them the locations of each survivor. It cannot be countered by perks like Distortion nor can it have its info reading extended by aura perks like Lethal Pursuer. The info it gives is slight, but it can really catch survivors off guard when you know their location after a gen pops. Being able to kill a person (or people with obsession changing perks) is just the cherry on top.

No, I'm a both sides main, so half my games were on surv. But the BP are more consistent with killer, and killer gets so many more cobbs (cakes) than survivor, that it made sense to me to dump almost all of it into my main.

Wow that's crazy! How many hours a day do you usually play?
During the event, around 7-10 hours each day. I'll probably cut back a bit now that the masquerade is over.

Since calm spirit is about to get buffed... that could boost it's usage which is kinda lethal for Spies.
Calm Spirit isn’t getting buffed, Iron Will is.

The title is misleading. Should killers slug all 4 survs and either bleed them out or hook them last second, all while at 5 gens? Ideally not, though it isn’t illegal. Your situation is completely different. The killer was playing well, did nothing against the rules, had two people on hook, downed the third, knew where the 4th was, and you want him to back off because… why? You’re losing? He doesn’t owe you a comeback. A snowball can happen at 5 gens or no gens, their choices are equally valid either way.
-
I do it for points. If they’re gonna die anyway, might as well farm em a little.
-
Do you have cross play turned off? If so, it will only match you with others in your region that have it off. Can’t think of another reason why your queue times would be so egregiously long.
-
I would love to play as Lee Everett from the first Telltale The Walking Dead game.
-
Blood Pact only makes you less likely to be the obsession, it does not guarantee prevention
-
I was able to complete this challenge earlier today using Dark Devotion and Unforseen. Hit the obsession or kick a gen, then go as far away as you can before the timer on the perk runs out and static blast. With any luck, there will be survivors near the people/gens that have your terror radius.
-
Need more info. Were you playing a killer with a damaging M2? Only basic attacks proc exposed hits.
-
The East Wing is killswitched, as is the RPD offering; the West Wing is still in rotation.
-
”How the hell do you fix this?”
Unfortunately I haven’t found any solution other than waiting for it to go away. My condolences, hope it’s quick.
-
What exactly makes it overpowered/unfun in your opinion? Do you also think that the Legion’s and Deathslinger’s powers need to be changed?
-
This is incorrect, the chains are not damaging survs. Pinhead has always lost a stack of PWYF when launching a chain (doesn’t even need to hit IIRC) and since the StBfL nerf, always loses stacks hitting a chain against the obsession (misses don't drain stacks).

If you use these two together, does the Iri remove the survivors ability to see the lament configuration, which is supposed to be shown to them because of Chatterers tooth?
Chatterers tooth DOES show the survivors where the box is at all times right? It feels like it does thats for sure.
The survs see the box all the time, regardless of add one. The only one that hides its location (until chain hunt starts or they get close enough) is Iri LC.
-
Seems intended. With the Halloween event, you had to complete every single challenge to unlock everything. This event has a sort of buffer, and if you can’t or won’t play enough to be finish every challenge, you can still get all the stuff.
-
Looks like this has been resolved, at least as far as being able to raid and build. Cheers
-
It's less about nerfing builders and more about trying to encourage people to raid brutal (which is over saturated as it is.) Brutals typically only get 3, maybe 4 raids per cycle. What do you expect will happen to those numbers if Brutal becomes even more difficult? When there are a decent number of people raiding Brutal, then it would make sense to talk about buffing building accordingly. But until then, take pride in the fact that you're killing raiders even though they have it so "easy".

Have you looked at the Codex?

Another issue is it's basically impossible to downrank. I killed myself 18 times and yet...ranked up?
This is surely just pushing people who aren't that good into shizzle they don't want to deal with?
How do you figure this pushes people to difficulties they are not ready for? Regardless of you level, 1 or 500, you can run whatever difficulty you want. There is no MMR or SBMM. You don’t get tougher bases as a Master rank than you do as a Bronze.
When the game came out, you could lose up to 30 rank points per raid if you died too much. People started abandoning bases after a couple deaths since they couldn’t make progress anymore. Now, you get rewarded for finishing a base, no matter how many tries it took you. The fewer deaths, the more points, but it was a real kick in the teeth to spend all that time and get nothing or even negative points.
-
This is intended behavior and does not betray the rules. You can’t put more than one impaler or piston in a block’s space because the trap itself extends out and takes up that space; there is only room for one to activate. You can put 4 bolt shots or claws all facing each other in one cube because the traps do not extend, indeed they remain flat and they fire projectiles.
-
No disrespect, but how is this an accidental misclick? It’s not like you’re prompted by the game as soon as you enter sanctuary. It’s not like a series of mindless mashing buttons led to inadvertently pressing the button. You have to walk all the way over to the chimera to do so. She’s in the far left corner of the room from where you enter, well past the raid selection console. So…… why did you walk over there? It’s like that meme of the guy on a bicycle jamming a stick in between the spokes of his wheels. You did this to yourself.

That is what I would assume too but sometimes it seems like I get these raids like 3+ days since it has been active. Don't you get new raids if you exit the game and re-enter?
Raid list resets upon reentering the game, however if you have started an outpost but did not complete it, it will remain in your raid list indefinitely until it is abandoned.

Yes, your base gets its raid the first 2 hours and the last hour. That's how the MMR works.
When you first activate your base, it goes into raiders' select screens. When you've ben raided a certain number of times, it takes you out of the pool. Then it might put you back in if you haven't gotten enough raids.
That big lull in between? You're not in the MMR pool, no one sees your base.
Why did you repeat back to me what I already said? And yet ignore the part about how 2 hours at night is worth less than 2 hours during the day? I’ve had bases recently get ZERO raids during a cycle (12 hours). There are clearly times when there are not enough people playing, and if your outposts have priority during those times, guess what? You get nothing.
-
I’ll throw in my anecdotal evidence. I live in NA and I typically play MYM at night. I’ve had brutal bases recently that I activate at 9 pm that get zero raids. I’ve got one outpost in particular that is stuck at P9 because it is consistently getting one or zero raids, not even enough to prestige. Chew on that. It’s almost impossible NOT to prestige with the way the system works now and this base has been stuck at 9 for close to a week.
People will say “oh it doesn’t matter, they’re all active for the same 12/18/24 hours” but that’s not true. Your base is WAY more likely to see raids in the first two hours of its cycle and the last hour, especially if it hasn’t had enough raiders yet. If I activate the same base at 9 pm and 12 pm noon, the nighttime cycle consistently gets fewer raids. All the time in between is useless essentially, because other people are freshly activating their bases and theirs are rightly boosted while yours languishes. It only get boosted again when too few people are playing.
-
Then why did you queue up?

Just entered my outpost to collect my 'reward' for my outpost killing raiders 57 time over about 6 attempts. Got the princely sum of 205 synthite for it. FFS really isn't worth the effort. The games is so flawed it's unplayable.
If you could get all the synth you needed from building, would you raid? If you’re not raiding, why would other people? If no one is raiding, then what are you building for? It’s selfish to want people to raid your bases without doing the same. The game isn’t flawed, it’s designed that way.
-
Edit: Never mind, seems like an oversight.
-
Update 2: I might have over exaggerated the consistency at which this happens. Some maps I’ve crashed multiple times, others run fine. Perhaps some combination of decals, props, and/or traps or guards precipitates the crashes?
-
Update: It happens Fury's Edge and Ravagers consistently too.
-
I’ve yet to come across an outpost that couldn’t be beaten with two swords. Is it harder? Obviously. Impossible? Not in my opinion.
Incinerators can be dealt with by grenades, flash barrier, and/or the grappling hook/sledge. If you deflect the plasma sentinels shots, the cloud will not appear. Spike drive can have you zoom past plasma, claws, and corrosive cubes before they can kill you.
Double melee is absolutely viable. And sword/arc barrier is the optimal speed running load out.
My two cents as a two swords main.

you obviously did not read the rest how using dh skillfully and precise moment can be hard and shows of your skills and knowledge of the game. you dont have to be maulding cause your the one who's got patience of a 3 year old

If you are complaining about the lack of dead hard, you are prob not that good at the game either.

Freddy has an add on that makes him invisible to awake survivors while he’s carrying someone.
adrenaline - did the killer have terminus or forced penance? I think legion has an add on that makes you broken too. Did you need to mend, in which case only the deep wound health state was healed?
resurgence - did the killer have sloppy butcher or scourge hook gift of pain? Or an add on that makes you hemorrhage?
Merciless Storm is definitely bugged and should be killswitched , but your other examples need more info before they can be classified as such.

How do you explain that the average killrate is not 50% then?
I can very reliably get 10+ winstreaks as killer and I'm not Otzdarva. In contrast as solo survivor I escape ~30% of the time and my MMR clearly doesn't go down.
I trust your good faith but there's just something that is completely off with DbD matchmaking. As killer especially I get matched against baby survivors who cleanse totems for their challenges then the next match against a SWF of 2000+ hours players. I have seen this happen for every single streamer. It definitely doesn't feel like there's any matchmaking at all.
In Overwatch, I played ~2000 games, my winrate turns out to be exactly 50% (1003 wins), same is for most of my friends, and only the top players exceed 50% (they usually reach 55-60%). The top ranked player has 62%. In DbD, I don't know anybody who is even in the 40-60% range, it's either lose every game or win every game.
‘Why isn’t an asymm with different team sizes and power roles as straightforward to balance as a game with even teams and roles?’
Hmmm, I wonder.

Personally, if the choices are limited time cosmetics for licensed characters or no cosmetics, I'll take the any cosmetics.
-
It looks like matchmaking dropped the ball. 3 experienced survs, decent but not as experienced killer, and a backfilled surv. The killer was able to catch the backfill easy enough, but even with just 3 survs left, couldn’t end chases quick enough to kill any of them, hence the high scores and escapes.
