I feel bhvr will give up on the old generation consoles and focus on the next gen here shortly. The graphics updates are an indication of this, imo.
So much for optimization on previous gen and low-end PCs...

FoV and brightness are balancing methods. Don't hold your breath to get them.
I would like to see a FPS setting. Going into the engine file to set this is unacceptable.
I would like to see different graphical modes on the console version of the game i.e performance mode.

@Shirokinukatsukami said:
Why would you need Graphics settings on a console?
Brightness slider should never be in a game that is about hiding in dark places. But then again the game hasn't been about hiding in shadows for a long time.
See my comment above.
You answered your own question regarding a brightness slider.

@Crypticghoul said:
I'd kill for a brightness slider so that I can put my game on something other than low and still see Claudettes and Freddy/Legion.
Same here and I think it would help level the playing field between console and PC.

Gotta admit, Gideon is looking good. I'm really curious to see what that is on the hooks. Seems like a SAW countdown timer or something. I'd actually be pretty damn amazed if that did show a 2 minute countdown if you were hooked. I'd play The Game offerings so much more just to see it.
I hope all the licensed realms get themed hooks, I can't wait to try The Game on the PTB.

@GhostMaceNotCrusty said:
It isnt likely to happen. Imagine I'd you play on your xbox and you have all your dlc but you want to play on your playstation. If there was cross progression, you wouldn't have to re-buy the dlc. Therefore playstation loses money.
I wouldn't mind rebuying DLC on a different platform, as long as the characters I have levelled and the perks I have unlocked carry across.

U can't attach it to the dbd servers to make it one? I thought they did that.
You cannot link your PSN or Xbox Live account to the BHVR account yet. Cross-progression only exists on Steam and Stadia at present.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Really curious what they do balance-wise to The Game. IMO one of the worst Maps in the game, it starts being pretty survivor-sided when it comes to Pallets and shifts to killer-sided once the Pallets are gone in an area, since there are mostly Pallets to work with for the Survivors. Simply super-boring gameplay for both sides.
I hope BHVR get the balance right with this indoor map, I find Midwich to be full of unsafe pallets and I hope it's not the same for this map.

What situation exactly? U just said u can't find PS5. Yea I also can't find one.
U mention p3, no I'm not p3.
U mention cross progression, yea everyone is in the same situation.
What is the point of this conversation.
Why the negativity? My point is I can only carry over my progression from PS4 to PS5. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I hope cross-progression comes to all platforms.
-
@Shirokinukatsukami said:
I thought we already had crossplay progression. I must have been thinking of a different game.
As present, cross-progression only exists between Steam and Stadia with Nintendo Switch on the horizon.

but you had the time to go back to a 3 day old vod, watch it for the code. when you can have the streamer up and have what ever else you're doing up at the same time and when the code is given then you go to dbd and enter it JUST like you did with the VOD.
My friend sent me a timestamped link which took me a whole 1 minute of my time from watching it back and entering the code. Why are you are you trying to argue with me?

well i guess you can't multitask! that's what I did... was watching That Violin Chick, while playing Final Fantasy 14 and had DBD up in the background and I got my code entered. wasn't hard and though I wasn't just watching her I had her up and could listen to what she was saying so I knew when to get to the dbd store and start typing it. Glad you got it but if you don't put forth the effort well in this case you're rewarded by this company. and those that put forth the effort gets to feel like it wasn't worth it now that there is a code for the same thing that they actually took the time to do. It's not even something NEW so they can have that and something else but it's what this company wants to do I can't stop them... I still haven't bought the most recent expansion/dlc maybe i won't still.
No need to get personal with me. I don't have much free time to watch a streamer put up a limited use code.
-
@Freki said:
though i'm happy others are getting this, this makes me feel like a tool because I actually went and watched a fog whisperer to get the code and got it and it wasn't hard. people are being lazy and don't want to do something to get it. IF YOU ALREADY GOT THE CAKE FROM A FOGWHISPERER IT IS THE SAME THING FOR THIS CODE YOU WILL NOT GET ANYTHING!
sigh why is it that people are not trying to actually do something and enjoy the small bit of legwork needed. hell I got mine entered while I was playing FF14 as well
Personally, I don't have the time to watch streamers drop codes which can only be redeemed 10 times. I was lucky enough to get the fruitcake charm by watching back a 3 day old VOD on Twitch.

@Zaytex said:
Oh wow, it worked, thanks so much!

Thank you! I must say, I really enjoy checking the forums and finding these codes.
You're welcome, I'm glad to know you both got the charm.

I play DBD for a few hours in the evening when I'm in the mood to play video games.
-
I am hoping the delay in crossprogression arriving on the Switch means BHVR are trying to get it on Xbox and PlayStation all at the same time. I think this would make sense so everyone is happy regardless of what platform they play on.
-
If the grind was eased I wouldn't be unhappy if we didn't get crossprogression on consoles. As it stands, there is no way I'm grinding to get all the perks I would like on the PC (Steam) version of the game.

I hope they also change it for PC as well then. I play on a 4K monitor and would appreciate a little more control.
Yeah, that would be great. They also mentioned that they are looking in to advanced graphics options during one of the streams but I'm not sure what that entails exactly.

They reverted the actual 4K screen scale support because players were complaining it made the UI too large. I would like to see it return as a slider, so we can fine tune our experience, whether on console or PC.
On the last Q&A stream, the developers acknowledged this issue on console and they will be working on a fix.
-
Thanks for recap, I had to leave the stream half way through so I've caught up now.

The codes should have been distributed via Twitch drops imo.

The biggest things I want for Clown is a passive reload to his bottles, and something to give him a bit of map pressure. Maybe drink one of his bottles to let him zoom around the map for a short amount of time. Then again, I'm not a Clown main. I'm sure @TheClownIsKing can put some ideas forth. Also, remove the noise he makes when vaulting. Why does he have that? No other killer has that.
These are great suggestions.
-
Hey @MandyTalk please can you let the team know about this? Thank you, Ryuzaki.

On the most recent Q&A stream, the devs mentioned they are looking at implementing advanced graphics options so here's hoping scaling is on the cards.

Yeah no I tried that and it didn't work. Sorry I should have mentioned that in my original post.
You have to invite people from within the game itself as invites outside the game don't seem to work.

A recent survey by BHVR asked a question about console only crossplay so I assume this is coming at some point.

Yeah, of corse, as i make my own decision years ago, and as i can share my opinion, as u did, and as all. And i didn't wan't to make a PC vs console war, i just say what i think and what i think it's the truth.
Have a PTB on consoles is far harder than in PC, and less people will test it so maybe it's not worth for them release it. Of corse, could be good, but as games as H1z1 or Rust if i can remember, they didn't release PTB for consoles...
But yeah for console players will be great and also they could test bugs and problems that just happend in console and with the controller.
GL
I respect your opinion, no worries. I would like the game to be around on next gen consoles for a long time and being able to test the game and provide feedback can only help with the health of the game.
-
@CacahueseSeco said:
Another problem of consoles... just.... stop buying consoles and buy PC.... u will save a lot of money and u will be able to play far more years than in a console, and with far better performance and graphics...
People are entitled to make their own decisions. I didn't create this thread to entice a console vs PC war, thank you.
-
Thanks guys, I read on the Sony blog that the controller should work on some games. I was curious if DBD was one of those games.
-
@GamerMickey said:
This has got nothing to do with BHVR and everything to do with how the certification process for new content works on consoles. Both Sony and Microsoft (and Nintendo) use a certification process that a PTB would need to go through every time a new PTB was released, which would massively hold up the testing process and would lead to delays in releasing new chapters. This is why BHVR don't release the PTB on consoles and has nothing to do with the performance of either current gen or next gen consoles. BHVR have said it'll never happen until the certification process changes, which it won't sadly.
As a compromise, It would be good to test a major update on consoles instead of every PTB.

I can’t answer that because I’ve never purchased a character with shards.
But all my cosmetics purchased with Shards, and any perks unlocked with Shards in the Shrine carried over, so I would presume any characters purchased by shards carry over too.
I think that seals it then, thank you. I have some characters aquired with shards but most of the characters I purchased through the PlayStation Store with actual money.

Do you think this will come to the Xbox One/PS4 as well, or only to the PS5 and Series X?
You're welcome. This is something I have recommended to BHVR, I guess it's up to them and I hope they consider.

Just beautifully. But I’m mostly distracted by Demons Souls.
That's good to know! I remember playing that game on PS3, I hope the remake is faithful to the original.
I have a question, did your characters aquired with Iridescent Shards carry over from the PS4 to PS5?

“Ready to play” only means it has finished downloading the tutorial portion of the game.
Everything else will be locked. This is NORMAL. Don’t panic.
Push the PS home button on your controller, select the downward pointing arrow icon, push cross on whatever pops up to see ALL of your queued up downloads, and check how much longer the remainder of DBD will finish fully downloading.
Thank you sir, how's the game running for you after a day of playing?

That seems to me like there is a high chance of getting you permabanned from the game. Which is also something that at least the Steam EULA allows, but I don't know if that applies to the console EULAs as well.
I think the refund request is mainly used for purchases made accidentally and outside of that refunds are probably only given in special circumstances. I believe Steam is a lot more lenient with refunds than Sony.
As per DBD's tweet The Nightmare on Elm Street DLC is coming to the PS5 when the next major update releases so we can all breath a sigh of relief.

EULA says no refunds.
If the DLC was purchased through the PlayStation Store you can put in a refund request here: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/store/ps-store-refund-request/

Not necessarily. The license agreement could have only stated very specific platforms. Seeing as PS5 and Series S/X didn’t exist at the time, The Wes Craven Estate is in a position to greedily negotiate more money before they’re willing to give permission again.
I guess BHVR should have prepared for this given that progress and purchases from previous gen are carried over to next gen.

The contracts were written back before the rights changed hands and likely didn't include newer consoles. The Craven estate it pretty protective and Craven was known for disliking the remake immensely. For all we know they might be turning down cash to (in their eyes) preserve the original character.
Hopefully all this gets resolved soon because people have purchased The Nightmare on Elm Street DLC with actual money but cannot access it on the new consoles.

Game stutter is game stutter, and every PC is put together differently. Plus, controllers are only a disadvantage as precision killers.
I do just fine with a controller, I actually prefer it over mouse and keyboard.

@TheClownIsKing said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1745410#Comment_1745410
That’s highly unlikely. It’s already been known for many months that there is something to do with the Wes Craven Estate/trustee being a little bit pissy with the rights/licenses to all of his IP.
You would think the license would transfer over to next gen consoles because the platform hasn't changed.

Sony make it way too hard to go through their approval processes for all the requests BHVR would need to send through for review ON TOP OF their requests that need to be reviewed for the live version of DBD as well.
Yeah, every patch has to go through Sony's certification system and approved. I'm not sure if this is the same said for beta versions, I guess so.
-
@GrimmReaper said:
It is very much possible. I remember Battlefield 1 had its own version which managed to come to consoles.
Yeah, it is common with AAA titles.

It's also possible on Xbox through a certain app (Don't recall the name) that allows beta testing, which it commonly does for Minecraft, and I believe has done it for PUBG and Twitch aswell.

Yeah, I get that. But the PTB is already extremely buggy. Expanding that with 2 or 3 more versions would get more feed back sure, but would probably be exrtemely poorly optimised and even more buggy. Plus, most players play the PTB for a day or two and then go back to live. It wouldn't be worth the time or effort.
It would be cool for console players. But I highly, highly doubt it'll ever happen. It'd be a waste of resources.
Whilst I agree it would take up more resources, I do believe that having the PTB on consoles would help address console specific issues and save the team time in the long run.
