Performance is really poor in this PTB, on live I can play the game on Medium with steady 60 fps but now I'm getting 40 fps on low. The issue seems to be linked to the killers power.

I mean, I just wanted to see the streamer's reaction to the reveal. How is that my fault?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1987137#Comment_1987137
Yeah, but the spoiler kind of took all the fun out of me instead... So... welp
It's inevitable that the said streamer is going to talk about the PTB, you should have expected it XD
-
This is just a band aid fix for a bigger problem, the grind needs to be eased.
-
I prefer the transition animation now on survivor, it doesn't feel as clunky.
-
Unfortunately, the console versions of DBD were a quick cash-in. I wouldn't expect BHVR to optimize the game on previous gen even though they promised they would back in 2019. The new Game map runs like crap on PC as well.
-
In terms of performance, DBD is the only game I have issues with. BHVR promised optimization back in 2019 but we not recieved any update since. Their priorities seem to be with re-colored cosmetics and pointless changes like the new HUD and chat filter.
-
I'm glad BHVR created an original character who wears the GhostFace mask rather than a character from Scream franchise as I prefer Danny Johnson's back story.

I really miss him.
He's probably playing Civilization or something.

I feel sorry for the console players, I started out playing DBD on PS4 and I have clocked around 3k hours. I think the game barely maxes out at 40 FPS when I played on PS4. I switched to PC recently and have issues with this game maintaining 60 FPS. It's inexcusable that a 4 year old game with subpar graphics has performance issues like this. I have been playing Resident Evil 3 remake which looks so much better than DBD and it runs like a dream on my hardware.

Seriously?
I'm not a PC expert, but isn't that supposed to be a super high end grapic card?
Yeah, the RTX 30 series are Nvidia's latest graphics cards.
-
You still get frame drops with a RTX 3080, this game has terrible optimization.

Or just remove the different levels of perks...
Yeah, perk levels are no longer needed.

Clearly not. I'm just floored that they put more work in to fixing the ui then the hits. They don't know what the hell they're doing there is no other reason.
At this point they may as well rollback this broken update, it's the only viable solution I can see.
-
How the hell did this update pass QA? Does QA even exist with this game?

I still prefer the portraits on the bottom from the left to right.
I also hope they've lowered the points from the top right down a bit.
I agree, I prefer the portraits to be horizontal rather than vertical.
-
I hope they address the red on red for status effects, it must be a nightmare for people who are colorblind.
I still think the character portraits feel out of place, I would prefer them to be monochrome to fit with the gritty aesthetic of the game.
-
This is a slight improvement but why do they have to insist on the vertically stacked placement of the character portraits? It still takes up most of the left portion of the screen.
-
When I play killer as long as I prevent all 4 survivors escaping through the exit gates that's a win in my eyes. Slugging for the 4k is boring for both sides so if the last survivor gets hatch then that's fine as the game comes to a close quicker.
-
I wouldn't mind BHVR retaining the aesthetic of the new HUD with the old placement tbh.
-
I've resorted to scaling the new UI right down as it's causing me eyestrain and is distracting. I would rather play the game without a HUD right now.

Myers, he uses his weapon as a mirror.

The game state can progress albeit slow...

The so called "fatigue cancel" stops the Nurse from looking at the ground when fatigued thus helps with tracking. I believe it is a bug which is going to be addressed @MandyTalk please can you confirm?

I finally played the 2020 remake and I think Nemesis would be a perfect addition to dbd.
I've seen other people mention that he should be in but that's my #1 pick now.
I would very much welcome a Resident Evil license in DBD.

xD forgive me
I had a stoner-philosophical moment...
Is it death slinger or deaths linger? Makes you think doesn't it? xD
I mean it's fairly obvious it's Death Slinger as he uses a weapon which reels people in.
-
Gives every survivor Iron Will for free.
-
@Madjura That's one of my points, it seems any threads created or moved to lesser used categories (in this instance, 'Optimization') are left ignored by either the mods or developers as they are hidden away and left unanswered.

You really don't want to know how long it took me to get BBQ on my Wraith...way over level 80. That's the joy of RNG I'm afraid.
The Bloodweb system is no longer fit for purpose due to the amount of perks now in the game.
-
I believe this would be bannable if all 4 of the survivors were trapped in the basement as the game state cannot progress thus taking the game hostage.
-
These are great suggestions, this must have taken you some time to compile and for that I commend you.

@Mandy said:
I'd be interested in hearing if this is happening to others on the Next Gen consoles and if it's specific to the ones you listed. So please tag me in replies if you're having this issue....thank you.
Hi @MandyTalk I have this issue on the Steam version with a GTX 1060 6GB graphics card so it isn't restricted to consoles only.
-
The possibility of Silent Hill and Resident Evil on the same game is pretty neat.

Glad you like the image.. You're welcome :) Honestly there's a lot more wrong with it than those 9 POV's; but I didn't want to tear the HUD apart too much
You did a great job critiquing the new HUD, thanks for sharing it.

A good UI is a simple UI.
Agreed, less is more...

I have a GTX 1060 6GB and play on Low and Medium settings at 1080p 60 fps. I get random framedrops on all maps and I'm not sure what is causing it though.

No worries, thanks!

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/221390/why-is-a-new-hud-needed
If something is current fine then it does not mean that it does not need to be updated. If devs want to make the game always relevant, then let them do so, the new HUD has problems, but this does not mean that we have to go back to the old one and live the old, devs just need to correct the mistakes.
I suggested a modular HUD similar to what you see in MMOs.

But what if the new HUD will go live with changes? Then you will admit that BHVR does listen to feedback?
I would welcome that.
-
If the HUD change goes live this only reinforces the fact that BHVR doesn't listen to feedback. It's not a change we can all get used to over time as it's so poorly executed.
-
@IronKnight55 said:
I like it.
What do you like about it?
-
I saw this posted in the 4.5.0 PTB feedback section and it pretty much sums up the issues with the new HUD, credit to the creator.
-
@EvilJoshy said:
I don't think it's needed or appreciated. It feels like a slap to the face when you consider the other issues they could be working on. They could have worked on a new HUD so they don't have to balance the actual game?
I have to question BHVR's prioritises when it comes to this game. No one asked for a new HUD but people have been asking for optimization since 2019.
-
In my opinion Almo should issue his own apology, games should be accessible to everyone.
-
Same issue with Tome III - Escalation, hook 3 survivors in the basement. I don't get any progress when hooking survivors in the basement.
-
I am experiencing the same bug on Tome III - Escalation, Hook 3 survivors in the basement. The challenge does not progress when I hook survivors in the basement.
-
I get frame drops on both the PC and console versions of the game, it's poorly optimized. No doubt the developers test the game with a RTX 3080 graphics card and use that as a baseline...

This. Many of us are still on the Xbox1 or PS4 and will likely be for a while to come, whether the new gen consoles become more available or not.
Still waiting for that promised 60 frames from like March 2019.....
My PC is a budget build with a 960 GTX 4GB graphics card. This card can handle GTA V on very high settings at a stable 60 frames per second @1080p resolution but I get frame drops playing DBD on low graphics. This game really needs an optimization pass on both consoles and PC.
