How come? How can 2 white specks that show the exit switches be distracting?
I'm aware of the exit gate locations naturally as the match progresses, I don't need to be visually reminded when I can memorise where they are.
-
The constant aura reading will be distracting imo.
-
Happens to me at least 3 times a week, seems to mostly occur when I'm spending BP. Its also happened in the middle of a match which was pretty annoying.

Hey. Wouldn't it be a cool and interesting detail if that timer was showing you how much time you had left until you die? I think it would be nice, and it would be a cool detail.
Given BHVR's track record it would tank FPS.

Alright, I asked him to explain what he means. This was his response.
“From what I know, Dead By Daylight uses one raw script that loads every single character and perk asset in the game regardless of if they are being used in the match. This means that, for example, Huntress assets like her hatchets and her point gain events are loaded even if Huntress isn’t present in the match. Having a single long script with every character’s data causes performance issues when a character is called into play later on due to the game having to find their data in the script to call upon.”
“Eventually, performance degrades to such a point that the game may stutter until it finds the correct character data to load into memory. Games with multiple characters usually compile seperate scripts of data that are loaded depending on if said character is in play; this is not the case with Dead By Daylight, since this game was built on “blueprints” made generically by other UE devs. The optimal loading method is to have all killer and survivor perks on one script, and all killer powers on individual scripts that can be called upon when that killer is present. If you notice, depending on what killer you are playing, the game may perform with more stutter or less depending on where the killer’s code is in the script.”
“That’s the gist of it. Also, the game stutters worse depending on what survivor is loaded into the lobby, with the four original survivors with their original clothing causing the least amount of stutter.”
”Also because of this ######### one-script method, it allows hackers to spawn in and use different killer powers regardless of if they are playing a different killer. Normally, spawning in a different character asset not present in that level would crash the game. Look at Left 4 Dead 2, spawning the bride witch on a stage she is not present in will crash the game.”
This makes sense as performance tends to degrade the longer you play. I close and reopen the game after about 5 matches.

Yeah, and then it's gonna get locked again.
Until we grow tired of it or something. It's sad but BHVR can totally afford it to ignore us as long as they want to.
We won't grow tired, we've been waiting for an update since 2019.

I think they are rather looking for a comment to justify closing this thread like they did last time with a 30+ pages long thread
If this happens I'm sure a new thread will be created in it's place.

Funny how a dev can afford to respond "OINK" on every thread related to The Pig but can't even answer this with "hey, our team knows about your problem".
Yeah, it's such a slap in the face.

Damn, the thread was really closed because people were bumping it for “drama”.
Or maybe they were doing it because they wanted their valid complaints to actually be addressed, and not lied to when someone says they’ve been “heard”
Imagine complaining about a genuine issue only to be silenced by mods, censorship at it's finest.
-
I'm no game developer but given that they have neglected the performance issues on consoles for so long perhaps the game is beyond repair? I really think this is the case but BHVR won't admit to it.
-
The comparison renders look like a beauty filter gone wrong.
-
If by some miracle a representative from BHVR acknowledges the performance issues on this topic, that's them admitting they broke their promise of optimization back in 2019. It wouldn't surprise me if BHVR have told the mods to stay silent on this matter in the hope that this will all blow over. This topic has amassed over 10k views! Surely, a gaming news site must have picked up on this by now.
-
I always wonder why BHVR never fulfilled their promise of optimization on consoles, surely the majority of the DBD playerbase is on PS4 and Xbox One?
-
I'm surprised Capcom allowed their IP to be used in DBD given the poor performance on consoles. BHVR probaby did a 'Cyberpunk' and only showed gameplay of Nemesis to Capcom on a high-end gaming PC.
-
It pains me to say this but the console releases of DBD are clearly a cash grab imo... You see how long '4k at 60 FPS' on next gen consoles held up before the performance issues started to take ahold? The answer... Not very long. It's all good though, little Jimmy will keep buying bright green Nea cosmetics on the PS5 his parents bought him.

@humanbeing1704 said:
not that it would help anyway but has a big dbd streamer ever talked or acknowledged the abysmal console optimization?
I remember Otzdarva posted a comment on DBD's official YT channel asking the devs not to leave console players in the dark with the graphical updates. He commented on one of the realm beyond videos.

Trickster's chase music is my favourite out of all the original characters. Demogorgon for licensed.
-
It's absolutely terrifying on Lery's coupled with Nurses.

@Hex_Ignored said:
Twins have a really cool chase theme in my opinion. It's just that you never hear it because you never chase with Charlotte and victor has no chase theme
Yeah, this seems like an oversight. I can see why they didn't give Victor his own chase music as this would remove the element of surprise.

The issue has been acknowledged it seems.
-
Ever since the twins chapter dropped performance has taken a massive hit for me, my PC should be more than capable to run DBD yet I still get random frame drops throughout matches which can be really frustrating.
PC specs: Ryzen 5 5600x, 16GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti.

Everytime I get a lobby with a trickster the lobby only lasts for like 10 minutes becuase all they do is continuously spam the knifes so you cant do anything especially on small maps like midwich it's just unfair
This has to be a bait post? Trickster is arguably the weakest killer in the game.

I was a rank 10 and as I’ve read green rank 9-12 is supposed to be set back to 13.. I was reset to 17. i see a ton of people are having this issue. when is this going to be fixed or are we supposed to just put in all the work to get back up there?
Did you not see the in-game message regarding rank reset?

@TobeySK said:
Is this game really locked to 60 FPS? Or is there a way to get it above 60?
And just for my interest: Does anyone know why it is like this?
You can uncap the framerate to 120 FPS.

I think it's intentional. It's on every graphics setting except for Low (PC, Steam). I'm surprised there isn't an option to disable it.
It's not intentional, I never had this issue before the 4.7.0 update. I hope this gets fixed soon, I'm sticking with low graphics for now. I play on the Steam version.
-
I have this issue after installing 4.7.0.
-
I don't see any difference besides the hair which looks rather odd imo.
-
I tried to make my voice heard but like every other discussion regarding optimiziation it has fallen on deaf ears...

Back in March 2019, the following news post was published by @not_Queen
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/49456/status-update-optimization
Ever since that post was published we have received zero communication on optimization. Given the current situation, it's difficult to get our hands on better hardware due to graphics cards being in short supply. I think the developers should prioritize optimization on lower-end hardware to make the game more accessible.
So this leads to my question... Is this game ever going to get optimized for minimum spec PCs? @MandyTalk @Peanits maybe you both could provide us with an update?
To put it in to perspective, I can play Resident Evil 2 and 3 remake on high settings, 1080p resolution at 60 FPS with my Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB. However, I struggle to run Dead by Daylight even on low settings.
I've accepted that this game will never receive an optimization pass but I admire your passion on this @Pulsar
-
There are some really good console players but it's a shame about some of the performance issues console players face.
-
I've never used the perk. If the last survivor gets hatch it doesn't bother me as it's RNG. My win condition is prevent all survivors from escaping through the exit gates.
-
I haven't seen a facecamping Bubba since his rework. Imo, it's so boring to facecamp so that's probably why I never encounter them.
-
I hope the new map is the Police Station from Resident Evil 2.

If you want better fps then play at 720p.
If you want your game to look like this then yeah 😅

I really wish the game let you select the theme music and backgrounds for your own personal lobby screen. I like a lot of the past ones and it's a shame they won't be used again
I second this, I miss the Stanger Things theme.

Yep! I'll have to give Wraith another try after they fixed that. I mostly stayed away from him because he was so add-on dependent and he's a lot less so now.
I'm looking forward to testing Wraith later, will report back!

Sure! I am glad, that I am not alone with this issues :D
My Specs: Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 2060 super, 16GB DDR4 RAM 3200 MHz Not a bad pc either. I think it's a game bug.
Yeah I'm certain its a bug in the game, I don't have this issue with other games.
-
@myers_obsession You are not alone with these issues, I experience texture pop-in which is more obvious at high and ultra graphics settings. I have a high-end PC which is less than a week old.
Specs: Ryzen 5 5600X, RTX 3060 Ti, 16GB DDR4 RAM 3200 MHz
Please can you share your specs?

As this is from last year: How's the progress on the killers that came out since?
I made the switch to PC so I had to start all over again! I'm hoping for crossprogression as it's hard to find the time thesedays to level up alll the killers and get the perks I would like.
-
I have managed to replicate this bug. Simply hold a button on your controller and move your mouse/press a key on your keyboard at the same time.
-
This is happening to me as well.

@Bjario said:
I'm getting massive performance issues with the new update. Game is running at 10-15 fps. Is it happening to anyone else or is it just me? I had no issues whatsoever before the update. And my settings are on low.
What platform are you on?

I think he will be fun to play spamming his knives but the novelty will wear off fairly quickly when you realise how weak he is.

no it seems like they nerfed it, they changed the tricksters add-ons to basically be the equivalent of the padded jaws(a brown add-on) for trapper where you get bonus points for trapping a survivor in one BUT it does no damage to them when they get out. Basically instead of the buff that a lot of people wanted for the killer BHVR said nah.
Rather than listen to to feedback they do the opposite, standard move on their part.
-
He's still not worth playing over Huntress imo but the perk buffs are ok I guess.
-
Frame drops on DBD isn't anything new, we were promised optimization back in 2019...
-
It's definitely an improvement but the vertically stacked character portraits take up too much of the screen.
-
I've logged this issue in the PTB bug reports section and it's been acknowledged. Some streamers are getting 30fps with RTX 3090 graphics cards so no doubt this will be fixed before the live release.
-
@UseTheValve said:

Yeah it plays like crap but most PTB do tho, i'd like to see the full release build before we comment on FPS
I used to say the same thing but the poor performance on the graphically updated game map made it to the live build.
-
Performance on the new PTB is really poor, I can no longer play the game even at low settings.
